Fantastic experience: Everyone here was so kind and helpful when I had an emergency with my border terrier. The vet and her nurse were both very knowledgeable and helped me understand any issues, as well as taking great care of my dog- taking time to comfort us both. Extra thanks to the girl who worked behind the desk, she was professional, very kind and reassuring.

Positive experience: I attended my local vet on a Saturday morning after my cocker spaniel presented as unwell. After bloods, an ultrasound scan and an Xray he was found to have a large tumour on his spleen which my vet said needed to be removed as an emergency. My own vet has limited facilities with no overnight facility and so he was referred to Vets now for the spleen and tumour to be removed. I took him straight there. Upon arrival there were two receptions, one for vets now and one for the PDSA. There were a number of people waiting to be seen on the PDSA side with pets who appeared to be presenting with minor complaints. I was shocked to find that there was only one vet on duty who despite being lovely and very knowledgable could clearly not see everyone at the same time. This was apparently the norm. The impression of two receptions gives the impression there is more than one vet to service both vets now and the PDSA. I was quoted £3k for the operation however I was disappointed to find that my dog had not taken priority and that his lifesaving operation had been put back to later in the day. My own vets had sent through all of their findings so no other tests or scans were required. His tumour ruptured as it was taken out. The vet saved his life on this occasion however the delay could have resulted in a very different outcome. I did not hear anything for over 4 hours and had to contact them for an update. My vet did say that the vet did a very neat job of the stitches and the vet did save a sample that I was able to take away and have tested through my own vet’s and unfortunately it was cancerous. Vets now did also only request a £250 payment claiming the rest direct from my insurance. I have however requested that my own vet review their out of hours provision as going forwards I don’t feel confident my dog would receive the care I would expect when considering the costs involved. I deliberated between 3 and 4 stars taking all of the above into account however my boy is still here and going strong

Fantastic experience: Unfortunately we required the use of Vets Now on Christmas Day. We were welcomed by Paige who offered lots of reassurance. We then saw Gonçalo who had excellent ‘bedside’ manner despite our dog being quite nervous. He also could tell we were anxious about any prognosis so also treated us with empathy and compassion to what was happening. Everything was explained thoroughly, our dog was treated with extreme care and attention. Over the 24hrs he was with VetsNow we were kept updated and nothing was too much trouble. Thankfully he’s now on the mend. Big thanks to Gonçalo, Paige, Rebecca and Jacqueline and anybody else involved in the care of our boy who is now recovering at home. Always a scary experience, but not being in our hometown let alone own vets added to this but the service was exceptional and I’d definitely recommend! Building is brand new and clean with lots of rooms and modern facilities.

Fantastic experience: Just want to say a massive thank you to vets now for saving our baby boy milo. Milo was admitted four days ago due to vomiting and we later found out that milo had intusucception. Goncalco was amazing and extremely respectful especially delivering realistic expectations which every vet has to do. He was extremely amazing at phoning me and keeping me updated with real facts even if it meant being woken up at night. He made all the right clinical judgements and went through them with me in so much detail. Initially we were going to keep milo to be monitored over night and then transfer milo to his primary practise to get his surgery, but he deteriorated overnight and Goncalco made the right call to have his surgery done right then and there and i am so glad he did. I believe that decision saved my babies life. Sadly after that milo’s recovery went down hill as he had suspected septic peritonitis. Reading the clinical notes i am so amazed at all the actions the vet now team took, like increasing his dose of his blood pressure raising IV at the right times. We genuinely thought he wasn’t going to survive but reading the notes and seeing how much effort they put in into making milo stable just makes me so grateful to be put in the hands of a team who you can tell are genuinely passionate about pets. Also i heard that he was keeping up on milo through his team chat whilst he was away from work and it just makes me feel amazing how loved my boy is by everyone. Following the next day we made the decision to keep him at the pdsa whilst vet now we’re closed, and milo did a full 180, and i believe it’s because of the intensive care he had over night, we truly weren’t expecting it! Clio called us and informed us and she was also so respectful at delivering this news whilst also respectfully informing us we were out of the woods yet. When visiting milo he genuinely had done a full 180 and compared to the day before where he couldn’t even blink, he was jumping out of his cage when he saw us. Rebecca the VNE, made the call to keep him in another night and i’m glad we did, we’ve just collected him and i just cannot believe how bright my boy is, it’s something i never truly expected and i was so ready to say goodbye forever. Also massive props to the receptionist Malaika who we saw throughout the 4 days through so many different emotional states, super kind and very understanding. I cannot express my gratitude and how amazed i am by this veterinary hospital, another thing i see is a lot of people complaining about costs which is totally understandable but just remember this is an out of hours practise which is so much more expensive to run, but honestly the way they monitor your pet overnight and respond to any decline appropriately is just amazing, i was told the vets are ECC trained and you can honestly tell. Thank you will never be enough, but i’m just so so so pleased with vets now.

Negative experience: I am writing to formally raise a concern about the service I received during an emergency visit to your clinic on Saturday evening. I attended with my 11-month-old dog, Bruno, whose eye had become sore, swollen and completely closed. As advised by an online vet, I brought him to emergency care in case it was an ulcer, which can be a serious condition. Naturally, I was anxious, and my younger brother accompanied me for support. Upon arrival, the receptionist was warm, friendly, and reassuring, which I greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, my experience with the attending vet was the complete opposite. Despite it being clear that I was Bruno’s owner, the vet directed almost all conversation toward my younger brother. This made me feel dismissed. Additionally, the vet showed very little empathy toward Bruno, who was clearly stressed. His breathing became very heavy and fast, he was very stressed, yet the vet made no effort to comfort him, slow down the examination, or offer any reassurance. There were no other patients waiting, so there did not appear to be any time pressure that might explain the vet’s hurried manner. The overall approach felt uncaring, which was upsetting, especially in an emergency setting where compassion and communication are vital. I am raising this issue because I do not want anyone else to experience what I did. Emergency veterinary care is already stressful for owners and their pets, and the lack of empathy I encountered made an already stressful situation far worse. I would appreciate your looking into this matter and ensuring it is addressed appropriately. I would also welcome a response outlining how this concern will be handled.

Fantastic experience: Out of hours emergency for my sausage dog after a bee sting reaction, seen immediately and the vet was very lovely and made the experience swift and stress free, the fee was very high but luckily insurance covers it.

Molly Hawes Posted on Google 7 months ago

Positive experience: I was, seen promptly by a very pleasant male vet who was at pains to put Flossie and me at ease. Flossie's a 14 week old Border Collie, very playful, inquisitive and bitey. The vet handeled her well, examined her thoroughly, diagnosed the issue and treated her. He explained things clearly and was very reassuring. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 was the cost: £355 for the consultation and injection!

Fantastic experience: Commendable is the only word that comes to mind. We genuinely cannot thank the staff enough for their care, time and patience. We note the comments/reviews made on cost and, frankly whilst yes, it is an expensive endeavour, if they weren't open to look after sickly or wounded pets, then who would be? A huge 5 stars from us. We hope never to have to visit again (being an A&E service!!) but we know that if we need Vets Now, they are there to help.

Positive experience: Excellent out of hours service. Vet was helpful and knowledgeable but also very reassuring. My only criticism would be being charged £61.62 for a tube of pro-Kolin which is available at around £15. I know you have to pay extra for their service but I just thought this a little excessive but on the whole very happy with the service.

Fantastic experience: Took my diabetic dog for emergency treatment to Nottinghsm on a Sunday morning and he was kept in.overnight.The vets and reception staff were brilliant. When the time came to pay I was pleased with the amount and I am not insured.Thank you to.you all.

Jos Potts Posted on Google 9 months ago

Positive experience: The PDSA animal hospital facility is amazing, we got to see the vet Gonzalo very quickly and he was absolutely brilliant with our dog. The downside was the cost, over £300! We were dog sitting and I understand this can be claimed back on insurance but even so it added a deal of stress to the experience.

Lisa Dean Posted on Google 9 months ago

Fantastic experience: I visited this morning at 2.30 am as my dog was suffering with an extreme allergic reaction to something, swelling fast and covered in hives. He has addisons disease and the vet knew all about addisons giving me immediate confidence. I rang them and the vet kept me calm over the phone and explained what to do. I drove there and they were waiting for me. They worked quickly and efficiently but kept reassuring me and showed really kindness to me and ny dog, and I have no doubt they saved my dogs life. He's still recovering but he's here and improving by the hour. Thank you will never be enough.

Fantastic experience: Fast and efficient service. Near enough no waiting time and the staff are lovely, and very compassionate. We went through one of the worst days of our lives, and we couldn’t thank everyone there enough for how both situations were handled. Thank you.

Amy Harrold Posted on Google 9 months ago

Fantastic experience: They were brilliant, saw the emergency nurse my dog had already started to pick up after eating a bee nutcase did all blobs they were fine so we decided to leave and go back if concerned. The only downside is we had to travel to Nottingham when there is one in derby.

Paul Ross Posted on Google 9 months ago

Fantastic experience: Ollie our black labrador relieved a bite to his front left leg and after dressing it and leaving it a few hours we decided he needed checking by the vet, we phoned vets now and were able to be seen within 30 minutes of our call. They were ready as soon as we walked in and the Vet took him off into a treatment room where she examined his wounds. When she brought him back she assured us there was no serious damage, she had given him a pain killer injection and she prescribed him some pain killer and antibiotics. Ollie is back walking on all fours, but we are still following the Vets advice of maximum rest. The vet and the Vets Now surgery are exceptional.

The staff clearly love their job and are very passionate. We just want to say thank you for how lovely you were with Freddie and getting him back to health❤️

Connor Sweeney Posted on Google 11 months ago

Negative experience: The vet was really good and felt she gave good advice / diagnosis. However I had to wait 2 hours to be seen with other pets being seen before me when arriving an hour after me. My dog was in real discomfort and from what I could see the other pets being seen before me were not that unwell it justified making me wait longer. My biggest issue with my visit is the price. It was £305 for a consultation and this is simply disgusting. Vets are supposed to help animals and charging £305 to see a pet is not helping. If anything it’s causing pets to not been seen / put to sleep as owners can not afford the ridiculous prices. I ended up paying close to £400 - the extra £100 was for 8 tablets! Crazy prices, for the owners to profit - disgusting!

Jakki Elliott Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: My dog had a major dental but had to go back in as an emergency so saw these vets instead of her own as it was out of hours on a Sunday, they treated her with love and respect and sent us home with meds onboard her and some more to take She sadly died 3 days later of a mixture of a reaction to the anaesthetic and the fact she was 15 and a half yrs old The operation was left so long as she had a bad heart so only did it when she started not eating and losing weight , we knew she may not make it but she died at home in her sleep so she was with loved ones Her name was Lynk xx

Positive experience: Very pleased with the treatment I received with Winnie, she's a nervous dog but was put at ease by the gentle nature of the vet

katie Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Thankful that you saw my rabbit and provided pain relief. However I’m paying an extortionate amount of money and you never have vets on who have any kind of experience with rabbits. The vet I saw asked me what I’d like her to do? I had to ask the vet to express my rabbits bladder and I had to ask her to check his gut sounds. Baffling that a 1 day course of pain relief cost me £42 of 1 medicine yet at me regular vets he provided me with a full weeks worth of 2 medicines for that price.

Tim Wells Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: I've found it to be typical for pets to get sick at the weekend or late at night. We called an emergency number in the small hours, who passed on our information to vets now and booked ahead. We were seen within minutes of arrival by both a nurse who started taking measurements and then by a vet for the consultation. Understandably costly; an impressive service nonetheless, and peace of mind knowing there is somewhere you can go in those dreadful middle of the night scenarios.

Fantastic experience: I had to take my boy to Vets Now the other day as he seemed very poorly, but my usual vet was closing soon. Everyone I interacted with was great, exceedingly kind and patient. I am incredibly happy with how Jack was treated, he is usually very scared at the vets, but he was walking around and investigating during the consultation - which gave me the impression he wasn't stressed at all. He is better now, sleeping on his heated blanket. Thank you for your kindness and hard work, it is very much appreciated!

Negative experience: The best place to throw your money in the trash , my bird was sick and I went here as an emergency, I think the vet had seen a bird for the first time in his life ‍♀️ . The vet didn't even touch my bird and they charged me £144. £144 FOR NOTHING I had to bring my bird back home like this Real scammer

Helen Bartlett Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Late emergency trip to Vets Now, Nottingham on 5th Feb when my elderly dog suffered a suspected stroke. The nurse and vet we saw were exceptionally kind, compassionate and caring. On what was a very cold night they crowded into the back of my car to treat my dog by torchlight to avoid causing him the distress of being lifted out. The vet was careful to make sure that I understood what the process would be and was very reassuring. A sad, but expected, outcome was made a little easier by the care they took and I am extremely grateful to them both.

Teresa Atkins Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Took my dog who clearly hag HGE begged for her to be put on Metronidazole left with a nausea injection and £450 less in bank within in 12hrs she was so much worse passing large amount putrid blood took her to registered vets as soon as they opened . 12hrs of IV fluids Metronidazole paracetamol she was well enough to continue treatment orally at home. The latest protocol of withholding antibiotic treatment is costing beloved pets their lives.

Sannhi Nguyen Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Edy the night vet at this branch, was quick to tell me to put my cockatiel down after he had broken his leg. She was so adamant that we need to put him down that very night, much to my distress. She explained that Harry (my cockatiel) would have 99% chance of not healing and that he would be limping and struggle for the rest of his life. I left in absolute shambles and traumatised at the prospect of losing Harry. We ended up choosing to help Harry fight and heal his leg with a lot of care, fast forward 2 months, he’s now running around with two strong feet. I spent £400 on a measly x ray where you can’t see anything, a small dose of pain killers for Harry and a load of trauma from the way Edy handled this. I’d be extremely wary of bringing your pets here as I know a lot of people are saying that this vet are very quick to make the choice to put down your precious animals without more thought.

Fantastic experience: Excellent, fast and informative consultation. We felt listened to and our opinion was valued and taken on board. The cost of an out of hours consultation is expensive and this can often affect treatment choices but we appreciate that the cost will be higher and the reasons why.

Positive experience: Vets were kind and did their best. Unfortunately my normal vet told me they didn't rate my cats chances after the road accident so he was sadly put to sleep. A hard job your vets do and no doubt tough choices. Your prices re steep but in that situation I'd pay anything for my pet to not be in any pain. He was much loved.

Fantastic experience: Our beloved 12 year old Jessie dog, became unwell and quickly caused us concern. Due to the late hour we called VetsNow as our vets were closed. Unfortunately our beloved Jessie had a large tumor that surgery could not remove and had to be put to rest. I could not fault the care, empathy and compassion shown to my Jessie and my family. Thank you to everyone at the Nottingham hospital for your help, support and care RIP Jessie❤️

Fantastic experience: We cannot thank the team enough for the care they showed towards our dog at the weekend. Libby was in a RTA, she arrived dazed, bleeding and having suffered a massive seizure en-route. The team whisked her in and dealt with her immediately. We knew the prognosis was not good. The vet gently told us what might happen, explained the care plan and then we were regularly updated every few hours over the next 24 hrs until discharged to our own vets who received copious notes. Each phonecall was detailed and we felt in control of what had been an extremely traumatic experience. Libby has made exceptional progress that has defied everyone. In part we believe to the treatment she received so promptly. Both the vets and the practice nurses, particularly Camilla, were amazing. We cannot thank you enough for your kindness in such a difficult situation. To have such service at a weekend when most people don't want to be at work is phenomenal and as a team you should be so proud of the service you provide. Yes it was not cheap but then you get what you pay for. Thank you to everyone. As a family we are truly grateful.

Fantastic experience: Had to take our cat here out of hours as an emergency and everyone who we spoke to was fantastic. They explained everything from the treatment that was needed, how to sort the insurance claim out & the aftercare that was needed. They even informed our main veterinary practice of what had happened so a follow up appointment could be made. Excellent service for both patient & parents. Thank you.

Negative experience: I took my cat in as he was feeling breathless. They told me his temperature was slightly above normal and it might a cold or flu. It was a terrible diagnosis and he actually had a pyrothorax. When I took him in his lungs were filled with 70 percent fluid and the vet told me he thought he had no fluid in his lungs. Do not go here !

Fantastic experience: I never give 5 stars I always give 4 as there’s normally room for improvement. Not Vets-now, they looked after my dog over a weekend and were amazing. Clear and understandable throughout, Looking after Bella and myself (after a midnight drive to them with a very ill dogq. I’m sure you can imagine!!). This would be my daytime vet if they did those hours.

Caroline Alexander Posted on Google 1 year ago

Positive experience: Having called in the morning and spoken to a gentleman who was extremely helpful I was expecting the same level of service when I got to the PDSA. Sadly the service received from the reception desk was lacking in information and updates. Waiting for 2 hours after travelling 50 mins to get there as this was apparently the nearest emergency veterinary service and not being told why others arriving after us were being seen first was frustrating to the point I had to go and ask why this was the case. The answer was PDSA clients get seen 1st. Also there was no drinking water in the smaller dogs bowls. The veterinary surgeon Emma was very good but the £288 private consultation charge given the services received was extortionate as clearly we were not priority and this was not an emergency service.

Negative experience: Well, we were not happy with the person/vet? Who took our Minnie in with a torn/hanging off Dew Claw. My husband wasn't able to go further to where they did the medical section. Our Vet contacted me the following day as he wanted to see her. He asked a nurse to remove the bandage. He was appalled that the foot leg was matted with blood. It hadn't been cleaned of blood etc. Plus the claw had been cut right down to show the Quick. Causing her distress when it caught her bandage. Sorry but to myself & my husband, that wasn't a Vet/Nurse that cared for our dog. They didn't even give her some pain killers!! Which she needed. After having her hair shaved off where there was blood stuck to it then redressed. Certainly made a large difference to her. After 1 painkiller she was able to use that leg better without crying. Yours sincerely Mrs. P. Lilley 23 Beech Avenue, Keyworth, Nottingham NG12 5DE

Fantastic experience: I was really happy with vet I saw with Ella she explained her condition and explained the reasons before and after the ultrasound I had a gut feeling that there something wasn’t right with Ella it was quite a wait but I came away with answers and meds to treat Ella the price for consultation was expensive but my fur baby was worth the visit thank u to the lady vet I saw I told her that the PDSA had refused seeing her as a urgent care the results showed that there were signs which could have turned into pyrexia and Ella has a health issue thanks again

Fantastic experience: Our rabbit had suffered a 'fly strike' which can be very serious or even fatal for a twelve year old! Within five minutes a nurse took the patient to triage where she removed the offending grubs& thoroughly cleaned th affected area. The surgery was reasonably busy but the wait for the vet was no longer than we expected. The concultation fee was about £70 less than we have been quoted elsewhere. We would happily recommend Vets Now, Nottingham to anyone needing an out of hours Vet.(or daytime). Many thanks to the Nurse & Vet. Schwartzy is progressing nicely & enjoying her regular bottom bath!

Paul Lester Posted on Google 1 year ago

Positive experience: Call handler and vets were very friendly and helpful, I just can’t believe the price of a consultation. £288 for what was 5-10 minutes of assessment followed by prescribing additional pain relief. The service is excellent, but the costs are almost unfathomable

Christina Wright Posted on Google 1 year ago

Positive experience: My cat was hit by a car and as soon as the receptionist saw she was really poorly she whisked her into the back for immediate treatment. The staff were very kind and understood how upset we were. We were given clear information about her condition. The only improvement was that we were told several times that they would ring with an update but we had to call them but this is totally understandable given that other emergencies would have been happening.

tracy rothwell Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: I took my dog here as he was coughing and was told on the phone there would be a short wait. I was advised we needed to wait outside as my dog's cough could be contagious. My daughter and I spent 2 hours outside and during this time she had to keep going inside to check that we were going to be seen. The vet eventually came outside to look at my dog. This only took approximately 10 mins. She constantly apologised for the delay as she was the only vet on that night and there were lots of emergencies. She was clearly rushed off her feet but she looked over my dog and gave me advise. However, she could not be 100% certain what was wrong from just the consultation. I was then billed the next day for £288.00 for spending 2 hours outside and receiving a short consulatation (again outside). There needs to be more vets on at these peak times as leaving just one vet to work is disgraceful for the price people like me have to pay!

Fantastic experience: Excellent care and support for my dog who had trod on a very large wasp. Plenty of advice . Very pleased to be taking him home.

Jessica Taylor Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: All the staff were friendly, listened to my concerns, genuinely seemed to care and want to help. Although the wait time was very long the staff were stretched due to short staffing so it was understandable and I didn’t care I just wanted my cat to be ok. The team still spent time listening to me and answering the many questions I had. I never once felt rushed by them. Unfortunately I had to return straight away after getting home with my cat as the issue wasn’t resolved but they welcomed me back straight away. After further assessment discovered the cause of the issue and swiftly treated him successfully. I am forever grateful for the care and attention given to my cat but also the time given to support me and my concerns. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: We couldn't be more grateful for the help and kindness our dog Haku received when he suddenly became poorly. We were extremely worried, but the vet Clio and the receptionist Imogen really reassured us and answered all of our questions. Thank you so much again, our dog is back to his usual self thanks to your care!

Fantastic experience: I had the most heartbreaking news last night that my beautiful loyal little girl Lilly would need to have her final sleep. I can’t express enough how compassionate, caring , thoughtful Amy the nurse and Kat the vet were. They treated Lilly as if she was their own dog. Beautiful wonderful girls. Thank you from the bottom of my heart xx❤️

Fantastic experience: They took care of my dog overnight after his spleen surgery and their care was absolutely brilliant. When my local vet referred my dog to them, I didn't need to wait any second when i got there and my dog was immediately admitted and looked after. Especially, nurse Amy was very empathetic and showed genuine care for my dog and I cannot thank her enough.

Positive experience: They were prompt ..but very expensive for just talking about options .if I'd have foned and sorry she s eaten she can't have her tail sewn .I wouldn't have payed 280.00 pounds .still had to see own vet in the morning .I came away with a plaster .I understand that they have to make money .but .. I'll be getting insurance .I suggest everyone do the same .my cat wouldn't have stood a chance if run over ..it would have been thousands .I was quoted two grand to come in n sutre.

Fantastic experience: My visit here was 24hours ago, I simply can not praise the staff and service higher. I rushed my Chloe here on what I suspected was 'bloat'. She isn't the friendliest when it comes to strangers, but that did not deter the staff, nor the vet. She was seen to immediately and rushed for life saving surgery. Please forgive me but I can not remember the gentleman vets name. He was nothing short of amazing. Explained everything in detail of what may or may not happen. The lady on the desk was so nice and friendly, made me chuckle when I asked if Chloe was behaving herself she gave a cheeky smile and replied "not really" I sat awake eagerly anticipating a phone cool to find out if surgery was successful,. Or not. Thankfully, it was a success and she is making great steps to recover. Let me be clear, had the operation not been a success, it would still be a 5star review and I would still highly recommend to all my friends and family. I have never felt so comfortable in such a highly charged and distressing event. They have saved my dogs life and for that I will be eternally grateful. A few reviews are mentioning the out of hour price of £288, I am not someone who has much money at all, but I find this to be a very reasonable given the specialist service you're receiving. Simply put, without last night's service and aftercare Chloe would not be here today. Thank you.

Positive experience: We were greatful for our dog getting seen and getting treatment for water infection the staff were very pleasant and so was vets that we dealt with but I really do believe that the price we had to pay was on the extortionate side I don't object to paying for things but really the price was ridiculous.

Fantastic experience: Called vets now on a Sunday morning as Sook our dog appeared to be having a stroke. They immediately took details of Sook and arranged for us to go to the Nottingham clinic about half an hour away. Sook saw a vet very quickly on arrival who was very thorough and diagnosed a vestibular event which looks an awful lot like a stroke but isn't. Having reassured us this is treatable proceeded to check for any other problems with a blood test and admitted anti sickness injection to stop the vomiting. We went there expecting not to bring her home but thankfully and gratefully we have. An excellent service very friendly and reassuring staff. We can only say a huge thank you. They sent a report to our regular vets who contacted us on Monday to check how Sook was doing. Thankyou to them as well. Sook is making steady progress each day now and at 13 years old will hopefully have many years to come.

Positive experience: Robin the vet was very kind and thorough. Both receptionists were excellent. The clinic was very clean and wait times weren't too long. No doubt this is a very well run clinic. My only negative feedback is on pricing. Last time I visited a consult was £165 (normal vet consult at my practice is £49.50). I expect it to be higher as it is an out of hours service. However this time it was £288 - almost 6 times the normal fee. This seems excessive but what choice do you have in an emergency?

Amber Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: 1 star given for the veterinary nurse who we found to be nice and helpful. Apart from that the service received was shocking and traumatic, £288 to walk through the door brought my cat in at 3am Sunday morning who was in some distress. We were offered testing or euthanise, we requested testing but told no, and refusal of discharge. Wasn’t allowed to see my cat had to demand to be there in his final moments despite refusal. In the 40 minutes of being there we got to spend less than 10 minutes with my cat as the vet surgeon wouldn’t let us see him. I have sent my complaint through and still awaiting a response. Think it would be helpful for other customers to be aware of service provided for animals who are in a similar way. In addition to this, I have checked prices online and found 61% of cost goes towards staffing costs, for this i would expect more care and compassion.

Malicious.Magpie Posted on Google 1 year ago

Positive experience: Staff were really nice, getting seen was a bit slow considering there was no one else waiting when I got there, the only thing is price, I know emergency vets are expensive but I went within what I think were normal hours (wasn’t late at least) and for an emergency consult (which didn’t last that long) two injections and two meds to take home it came out to around £440, which is just excessive! At least £70 of that was just VAT too which is ridiculous. All that being said the vet I saw was very nice and reassuring, which I really appreciated and my cat is doing much better so for the piece of mind it was worth it.

Weijie Xu Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Extremely irresponsible and unprofessional behavior. Bunny was sick and these are the grass they tired to put into my bunny’s mouth.

Laura Stephenson Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Puts profits over animal welfare. It is expected to pay more for out of hours treatment, however the HYPER inflation of prices out of hours is inexcusable and morally reprehensible, and, I expect, lining someone's pockets quite nicely. When I think of the amount of animals that must have been put to sleep here simply because the owners could not afford to pay the astronomical prices quoted for treatment, all because their pet had the misfortune of falling ill at night, over the weekend or a bank holiday. They are quite obviously profiteering from desperation and taking advantage of peoples love for their pets. How anyone that professes to care for animals can in all good conscience work here baffles me. Disgraceful . Replying to vets now's comment: it's not frustrating paying for vet treatment when it's necessary. It's frustrating paying your prices, so please don't patronise me. Does the electricity, heating, lighting, medical equipment that you already possess, needles, syringes, medication, IV fluids, cages used for overnight stays and any other consumables magically increase in price when the clock strikes out of hours? No. They don't. As I said I expect to pay a little extra out of hours but hiking prices more than 5 times their normal baseline is just taking advantage from a captive audience and it's disingenuous of you to try and pretend it's not, thanks for the generic response but you needn't bother. It's a pack of lies.

Fantastic experience: I would recommend this emergency vets. The experience was excellent from the moment of calling to going home. The receptionist Chloe was clearly extremely busy but despite this managed to juggle multiple jobs and patients very well. She communicated everything clearly and was very kind on the phone when I called in distress. The vet was excellent and offered several options giving pros and cons to both, I was able to make an informed decision that was in the best interest of my cat. She is now home and recovering well. I would return to this practice although I hope I never need to again (emergency visit).

Karolina Lina Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: We came with a cat that has been following us and tried to get in our house for hours to check if he was microchipped. We didn’t want to take him in if he already had a home close by. They took him from us to check for the chip. Then they came out without the cat to say he has a chip but the contact details seem outdated as the address was far from our location and contact number wasn’t picking up. I asked when we can take him back if the microchip contact details don’t answer and they said after 7 days they will give the cat to a rescue centre and not us and told us we can always adopt him back from the rescue. We won’t be able to adopt as we don’t own a house and the landlords already have an issue with the one cat we have because they never wanted pets in the house but the agency said it was fine. So when we moved in with a cat and the landlords found out they were not happy that the agency let us. So, we didn’t want to steal a cat and wanted to check if he had a home. The chip details are outdated, possibly belonging to a breeder after he was sold and now he will be in a cage at a rescue for months or years. You should have informed us that the moment we hand over the carrier with the cat we would never see him again. If we knew that we would never have come to you. Instead we would have taken him to our standard vet for check up instead of a practice that kidnaps pets from people who tried to do the right thing. I wanted to check for updates but that was also refused by your staff because we aren’t the owners. What kind of policy is that? We took the cat in and just wanted to check if he had an owner so we could contact them and take him home or take him in. Instead you kept him for 7 days and then hand off to a rescue for years to come… I left crying and feeling sick. We really bonded with him and you took him from us like it was an item. I will never ever again come to you in a similar situation. Ps. The automated review replies are just like a middle finger to you. Clearly they do not read the details of our feedback. Just a generic reply that has no value. This only proves my point further; they don’t care.

Negative experience: I was worried sick when Mollie had to stay over night.. Easter bank holidays.. The vet I seen ( Robyn) wasn't much help to me. Telling me to prepare myself for the worst.. It was the first time I had left Mollie before and needed reassurance.. The worst night ever.. However when I phoned the next day the lady on reception put me on hold then the phone clicked off.. I rang back an hour later to be told the vet would ring me back as she was on another call.. I didn't get a call back for over an hour later. Still worried about Mollie.. I picked Mollie up late afternoon and the lady who handed her over was lovely and explained everything to me.. To think the first vet had told me putting my 2 year old YORKIEPOO down was outrageous... A week on and antibiotics taken with lots of love and care is almost back to herself. To think Mollie could be put to sleep to how she is now is very upsetting....

Fantastic experience: I have given this review five stars because they did saved my dogs life, but at a cost, the cost started at an estimate of up to £1700, but soon went up and they were wanting us to pay more and wanting our dog to stay a little longer at the price that we could not afford. I am not sure what people would do in a position where they cannot afford to pay. It is frightening. All I can say is thank you for saving Rosie’s life, but I do not know how you justify the cost of everything.

Frances Whatmore Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: My dog was involved in a RTA I rushed him to the Vets Now Nottingham as my day time vets were closed as it was a Saturday, They took him straight through for scans and blood tests for internal injuries and gave him pain relief and by some kind of miracle he was absolutely fine, apart from a little bruising and two small grazes. He went home after a couple of hours with some pain relief. They were absolutely amazing in every way could not thank them enough ❤️

Pia Yazigi Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Awful experience at this after hours service. I found the vet to be extremely uncaring, awful bedside manner, defensive and far too keen to advise euthanising my dog within 5 minutes of arriving. A serious mistake was also made where for 30 mins they told me they were giving him multiple medications that he was not responding to and therefore advising euthanasia, when actually after me demanding explanations they realised the iv was not in correctly and the drugs weren’t actually going in. Which prolonged his seizure 30 minutes longer than it should have been causing who knows what damage. I understand mistakes happen but they weren’t paying enough care or attention to check the iv and instead jumped straight to putting him down based on the assumptions that the meds were having no affect, when actually they weren’t going in.

Fantastic experience: We’ve had to use Vets Now Nottingham on a couple of occasions due to our daft Labrador and we’ve been seen quickly and efficiently. Reception welcoming and well informed on insurance etc. We were kept well informed of all treatments / outcomes. Both vets we have seen were kind, knowledgeable and efficient.
