Welcome to YourVets Sheldon, a dedicated small animal practice located in Sheldon, Birmingham. Established in 2007, we pride ourselves on delivering the highest quality veterinary care to our patients, which include cats, dogs, guinea pigs, and other small furries.
Our practice includes disabled access and on-site parking, ensuring your visit is as smooth as possible. At YourVets Sheldon, we are passionate about pet healthcare. Fantastic experience: We're so grateful to Your Vets, particularly Barbara, at Sheldon, for their excellent care. Our cat had only been with us 6 weeks so we weren't sure what 'normal' was. When she became lethargic and lost her appetite I took her to the vets, and Barbara quickly ran tests, did a scan and drained fluid from her lungs. She made a clinical diagnosis and was able to source treatment quickly (especially given it was New Year's Eve!) The fast action made a huge difference, and our girl is now on the mend. All the vets, nurses and other staff are so compassionate and really care. Thank you all
Fantastic experience: Went to see this surgery as an emergency for a semi feral cat that has been living out of our brick shed for about 5 years. We inherited him from an elderly neighbour who passed away. He seemed like a well built healthy cat. He started developing scabs on his ears which we first assumed were from fighting. Turned out to be cancer. Was absolutely horrified. Was told he was in his teens/ senior cat and would need further investigation. Felt soo guilty for thinking it was just battle scars. Messed up my phone accessibility settings and couldn’t work out how to undo them so that I could pay the bill. I lovely gentleman by the name of Daniel at reception, saved the day by fixing the issue. Unfortunately he also had to listen to my nervous ramblings( I tend to do this when in shock and stressed!) He was extremely good natured about it. Lovely knowledgeable nurse explained next steps clearly and patiently with our adopted cat. Still gutted, but they made the whole procedure so much more bearable. Clearly a good animal loving calm practice ( and very tolerant of customers too) further away from my usual clinic in Solihull but will definitely be visiting here in future. Highly recommend to anyone who wants their little babies/ pets looked after well. 5 star service
Fantastic experience: There have been a few hiccups with Fudge and our time with the vets, but they have been more than happy to resolve and/or explain things clearly! The vets and nurses are always very lovely with Fudge, even if he is wary/anxious/etc Thank you guys for doing so well with my boyo!

They always take the time to explain everything clearly and make sure both pets and owners feel comfortable and confident.
Fantastic experience: I hadn't been here before, but my rat River got really ill so I rushed her to here. Sadly she had a tumour so had to be put to sleep, but all the staff here couldn't of been better. The woman at reception rushed to me as soon as I walked in and took River straight to the back to the vet. I was in a bit of a panic and the staff were very kind and patient with me. They even let me wait in a private room. Like I said River had to be put to sleep and the vet was extremely kind when she had to break the news to me. And if the staff wasnt already going above what they had to do, they even sent me a hand written card with there sympathy. I hope I don't ever have a need to visit again, but if I do i feel more than confident that the staff here will do everything they can to help
Negative experience: Please avoid this vets at all costs. We feel completely let down and heartbroken by our experience with this vet. Our puppy was spayed on Friday and began showing signs of being unwell by Sunday. We rushed her back, expecting them to take her in for monitoring and proper care. Instead, we were offered multiple tests, all of which we paid for, but the results took 48 hours to come back, by which point we had lost our puppy. We were also given several different medications, again at our own cost, and then sent home without any clear explanation or cause for her symptoms. We were reassured that it was nothing to be overly concerned about — yet only hours later, our puppy tragically passed away. The vets have since admitted that they let her go home without knowing what was wrong, we are completely disgusted that they let her go home in this situation. We trusted them to care for our baby, and that trust was completely misplaced. We are devastated and feel utterly failed by their lack of urgency and knowledge and are now left without answers. Please think very carefully before taking your pet here.
Negative experience: Avoid at all costs,, so we took our dog to them as it’s hurt it’s leg, they first told us to rest it and another check up in two weeks, when we went back another vet seen us and kept saying the dog needs a xray at a cost of £800 and if there’s a fracture you will be looking at another £6000, we didn’t have the money at the time so needed to go away and sort something out, a week later they phoned us so we could take the dog to have a check up once again a different vet was examining the leg saying o she’s lost a bit of muscle in that leg to which then we pointed out to him his examining the wrong leg,, he also told us if we don’t get it xrayed by that afternoon they will report us to the rspca, as soon as we left there we got the dog booked into another vets for today, but in the mean time yourvets in Sheldon reported us to rspca who came out seen my dog and said herself that her leg isn’t as bad as she thought it was and couldn’t understand why they reported us, Took her to different vets today who happy that she hasn’t broken or fractured it, JUST PROVED THERE ONLY AFTER YOUR MONEY
Negative experience: Horrible place no companion at all over priced care and wanted to put my cat to sleep rather than help me treat him. They threatened to cal lthe rspca as I couldn't afford their ridulas prices took him else where and got treated and os doing great for a quarter.of the price. Shocking
Negative experience: I have used this vets a number of times over the years and I am increasingly disappointed with the service. Each time I have bought one of my dogs in, I don’t feel satisfied and I seek a second opinion. I believe the vets is extremely over priced for a service that doesn’t feel like you actually have my animals vets interest at heart. I’ve been before and immediate reaction was to remove my dogs eye but actually eye drops sorted the eye just the same! Previously I have been and without really checking my animal, you deemed she didn’t have an infection without checking temp or really examining her. Second opinion showed that she had a rotting tooth! Won’t be using this vets again! All they care about is money!
Positive experience: We took our pets here a few times and the experience was nice every time. Staff members are friendly and we also appreciated a designated cat only area. On the downside, it seems to be an extremely busy practice and it's very difficult to get an appointment. We had to wait over 3 months to neuter our dog
Negative experience: Please don't use these so called vets, they are only after your money, after seeing 3 different vets and not any of them knowing what they were doing, after we had been home for an hour they sent us a text message saying our dog had cancer in his eye disgusting
Negative experience: Avoid at all cost we brought our cat here to be neutered and a week later he was dead, we brought him home he was clearly very unwell from the first day bringing him back they offered to do tests at a price of £2500 which we couldn't afford, and now he's dead. Do not bring your pets here!! All this place is interested in is taking your money! Look at the other reviews!! Absolutely heart broken and fuming!!

Negative experience: Had an appointment for a hamster from a neglect case with very overgrown nails to have them cut, they booked the appointment but only admitted when I got there that they didn’t know if they could do it, werent able to, gave unsafe advice and then charged me anyway. Taxi trip & vet appointment money that should’ve been spent on the rescue animals wasted. Now have to book appointment elsewhere and pay again
Fantastic experience: I had to say goodbye to my beloved cat Rosie. All of the staff were so compassionate the whole time. The procedure was explained at great length and they didn't seem rushed. I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart. Such a wonderful veterinary practice

Negative experience: Several visits I'm not happy with for example I was told my yorkshire terrier may have testicular cancer during a routine check up so they performed a vasectomy. We was told they would let us now asap after more blood tests. 4 weeks later no reply so enquired myself as I did after 2 weeks also. No apology just "oh yeah he's fine didnt nobody contact you". They took the £850 quick enough. Another routine check as my dog requires Skylocalm twice a year for a seasonal skin allergy on this occasion they charged an extra £200 to treat his ears with steroids also although the vet told me his ears looked fine. Trying to get Skylocalm tablets as my dog has been struggling again and only requires his repeat tablets but the vets won't let me have them until he can be booked in for a review, 3 days later no appointments they genuinely do not care about animals it's just a money making business with false empathy towards the animals. They know there is no issue with my dog taking the tablets they simply won't ease my dogs suffering until they can make more money. Stay away bunch of Job's worth
Positive experience: My dog was seriously ill high temperature no water or food he went funny I rung my vets being the sheldon branch was told to phone out of hours there other branch on Lincoln Rd Acocks Green which I did they were lovely rushed him straight thru got him on drip with antibiotics. The next morning I had to ring my branch sheldon 1 to see him if no better or get the oral antibiotics if he is eating but women who picks the phone up was rude unhelpful it's all about the money where at the other branch total opposite they care for the animals. This place I have found the vets to be nice but the receptionist,s are awful this is not just a 1 off this is my second time having issues with them
Negative experience: My cat was diagnosed with diabetes 3 years ago,every returning appointment was with a different vet.. 10 in total! don't give you much help tbh they seem to know the basics on diabetes. Hold you to ransom with insulin if you don't bring your cat in for a £150 blood test that I already know the results for... Iv got a alphatrak. Money is all there bothered about.. Not your animal!
Negative experience: Staff are great however the prices are extortionate the flea tablets we normally get they have stopped selling and now sell £50 ones, £20 more expensive than the old ones

Negative experience: I don’t even know where to start, you gave the wrong diagnosis for my dog, this whole time she had a tumour in her stomach which had spread to her lungs, and you guys knew that she had cancer, but you only would have told us if we paid for the X-rays and scans, you took her to into the back to be “weighed” and to give her an “injection” when all of that could be done in the presence of the owner. 2 days later we had to put our dog down because another vets had told us she had cancer straight after doing scans on her.

Fantastic experience: My local YourVets is at the Radleys. My puppy ate slug pellets...i didnt know the exact amount consumed. ..to cut a long story short, YourVets were fantastic in the advice they gave me (to call the poison line initially); I was then advised to get to the vets as an emergency...had to go out of hours down to B27 ...basically they saved my puppies life. Thank you so much YourVets and your amazing staff ❤️ have, and will continue to recommend you.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely over the moon and so happy I made the decision to choose this fantastic vets, I had a very poorly dog that had being neglected by the PDSA that refused to diagnose an abdominal fluid problem, He was seen the same day I called Yourvets and given a normal appointment that was cheap so I was happy and the vet himself was so nice and caring and talked to us about options to save my dog Lucky which was amazing due to previously being advised to put him into a forever sleep and give up by the previous non affiliated vet, On the day of the scan I saw the vet Amy that talked me through everything and spoke to me about surgery options if the problem couldn't be found, the vet was amazing and really kind and caring too which is nice and you can see they really care about animals immensely, I left lucky with them at 8am and I got calls updating me throughout the day which was nice and by I believe 12 in the afternoon I received a call from the Vet herself to advise nothing looked normal due to the fluid and advised surgery was the only possible option to finding the problem which I agreed was an unfortunate but necessary procedure, Then to my amazement got told there doing the surgery the same day and that he would be home later the same day too for cuddles, Amy managed to remove 3L of fluid from his abdomen which blew my mind and checked for any blockage and tumors but instead found an inflamed gull bladder that appeared infected so she cleaned it up and administered antibiotics to help it get better, They saved his life and I cannot thank them enough, and not forgetting the reception staff that are so nice and caring giving me calls and answering all my millions of questions the entire team are amazing people Thank you all so much.
Negative experience: Avoid at all costs! All they interested in is money and how much they can get out of you with every visit. Gave us no advice what so ever! Didn't even have a payment plan then suddenly they did when price increased. Lucky to get one star couldn't go minus! Feel I let my dog down going here and they definitely did!!!

Negative experience: Pleasant vet practice but the vet failed to share the extortionate extra costs that were involved during my recent consultation for my dog for their services and the dog's treatment. I was shocked to find that a bottle of eye drops for a small eye ulcer that could be bought over the counter for £14 approx with postage and I was charged £50 at the vets. When I queried this, I was just told there had been a price increase by the receptionist. I spoke to the vet later that day who said they dont recommend using human products on dogs as they're not tested for dogs. However, the eye drops prescribed by the vets were for humans? Sorry to say but this bad experience is making me seriously consider moving to another vets practice.:(

Fantastic experience: My puppy eat rat poison. I immediately called my Vet practice by Morrisons who refused to see him unless symptoms were occur. I was told to wait 1 or 2 hours and I would see any foam coming out from his mouth, vomiting or diarrhea they would then take him as emergency. I listen to my instincts to go to Vets for Pets in Sheldon. Everyone was very friendly, took my puppy for detoxing treatment, after 1 hour they informed me that they could see a lot of poison pellets in his vomit and that I did the right thing of coming in straight away . Thank you for saving my puppy life
Positive experience: When i visited today with my little boy there were little charity bags to buy to help raise funds...bought one of these and brought it home and it had a little blanket in and now my girls are all over it❤️
Fantastic experience: My little dog had a heart Scan. The staff on desk very caring. Vet explained everything before hand. She didn't have to be sedated I had a phone call with in three hours to say ready to pick up. Up on collection everything was explained to me by the vet her results and medication. Lovely team .

Fantastic experience: Dew claw accident. Was seen on a Saturday about an hour after I phoned. Extremely helpful receptionist, saw the vet, Mark, he took my fur baby off and was back within 5 minutes, minus a dew claw and £32.......a very happy dog and human
Positive experience: I have been using this vets for many years. There are some slight issues these being when calling you may wait for over 10 minutes for an answer and secondly a quick check up will cost you around 40-50 pound. My dog has been on long term medication requiring check ups every 3 months to ensure no concerns (understood as you would want to stop them as soon as should there be any side effects), my only concern with this is that the check up can take minimal time and yet costs are high. I'm sure this is similar elsewhere. The vets itself will aid in booking you in as soon as possible where needed and can get you a same day appointment when available which can be very helpful, the staff have always been friendly and approachable. The premises are clean and tidy. Overall this vets is very good but as with many other similar businesses prices can be high hence the average rating

Fantastic experience: Always happy to help on the phone or for a quick visit for my cat, I’ve noticed some veterinarians are experts in scare tactics due to making money for there own private vets. I have not seen any of this here which puts me at ease, and makes it a happy trip all around. Vet fees as expected are slightly higher than I’d personally like but you can’t put a price on your pets; they are worth every penny!

Fantastic experience: Very dignified end for our sick dog. Staff very respectful and gave us all the information and time we needed.
Fantastic experience: We have used Your Vets for 18 years and had some wonderful members of staff that have got to love our fur babies as much as we do. We have needed emergency appointments, ones for general issues, vaccinations, boosters and unfortunately end of life but have always been treated and spoken to politely in person or by telephone. We feel safe in the practice with those we've got to know.
Fantastic experience: Sadly had to take our elderly German Pointer, Merl8n, to be put to sleep. The staff were fantastic, and handled everything very sympathetically. We weren't rushed in any way, and we were allowed plenty of time on our own with Merlin. They were lovely.

Negative experience: Absolutely shocking vets …… pregnant dog scanned and showing perfect health both mom and pups …. The dog was dead within 2 hours due to sepsis the pups were dead weeks rotting inside her

Negative experience: Took my jack russell there 3 months prior. Nail trim was just over £10.. now they are charging just under £20...!!!!!! When asked why they said medication costs have gone up?? But No costs in nail trim!?!? Then they said it depended on who did his nails( nurse or vet) to what cost it would be!! Ridiculous!!!

Fantastic experience: My leopard gecko fell ill quite quickly and I contacted a vets that deal with exotic pets. Even though I explained the problem to that vets they said that the earliest appointment was on Monday morning and I should be grateful that they have fitted me in. Overnight Harley the gecko did not improve and I didn't want to see her suffer any longer. I contacted Your Vets Sheldon and explained the problem to them.I knew that they didn't deal with exotic species but I was willing to try anything. I had an appointment within 2 hours and Harley was laid to rest. I can say that this vets is the most professional, caring, kindest bunch of people you could ever come across. Five stars is never enough for the comittment you have to animals and their owners.

Negative experience: Took my dog to be spade on Friday i was told it would cost £167 which was fine they told me that they would put her belly button back in when they spade her all of a sudden it jumped upto £400 and my dog has the odd seizure they told me it would cost a further £120 for her blood to be taken to find out whats wrong with her and my wife was handed a sheet of paper with further cost attached to her operation not impressed im glad they cancelled it due to her being in a fantom pregnancy and also I'm paying £15 a month through direct debit just be careful people vets for the family what a joke

Fantastic experience: Fantastic vet. Very professional, compassionate and skilled. Always explains everything about the treatment etc. Receptionist ladies are also amazing and super nice. They have private parking and separated waiting area for cats and pets that are scared. They also provide feromon sprayed blankets if needed!!

Positive experience: Brought my dog mini into the sheldon vets for her dental operation. Very happy with the staff for there care and friendliness towards mini. Only downside was not informing me on her progress as we had her in at 8am and I had to take it into my own hands as I was getting worried and called the vets at 4:10pm to see how she was. Luckily she was doing well and had no complications on her operation. Took her home an hour and a half later after my call and they advised us on her medication and she’s been at home with no issues and is safe and happy.

Negative experience: My poor old cat, I took her there on the 2/2/22 at 12pm. I told the vet that she was constipated & I was told that she has something going on on her spine & was advised that she needed an X-ray nearly £700 later…….. we then go a call to say that there was nothing wrong with her spine and that she is constipated? Which was what I told them intially. I feel they were more bothered about getting £700 from me than the welfare of my cat, I feel that they are just trying to get as much money as they can out of people, I’m disgusted & after putting a post on social media about this vet I have had loads of response regarding people that have also used this vet with very similar stories infact some people were taken for thousands of pounds.I suggest you look for another vets rather than using these

Negative experience: Disgusting treatment …… NO STARS Having paid to have my dog put to sleep then having to pay cremation charges separately only to find out later that the cremation charges were unnecessary that the charge for her being put to sleep would have covered everything

Positive experience: OK vets but staff need to communicate better with each other and listen to the client about their dogs needs. I needed a repeat prescription and a male receptionist insisted I had to bring my dog in for a medical review before I could get her medication, I knew she wasn't due a review, but he wouldn't budge, "no review no medication" was all he would say, just as I was going to make an appointment (as she can't live without her medicine!) another member of staff came out with her medicine saying she wasn't due a review! , I said to the male receptionist (not nastily) "maybe you need listen to the customer next time" he strugged and walked off. Staff training needed.
Fantastic experience: Unfortunately we had to have our 16 year old Bichon put to sleep due to him suffering. Staff are compassionate and so patient. I didnt get the Vets name (was a male) but just wanted to say thank you for making the whole process that bit easier

Fantastic experience: Caring, empathetic team as always Same day appointment given to me for a family puppy who was not very well. Nice clean facilities. Face mask were available, but i feel should be more prominantly displayed for absent minded people like me , and couldnt see any dog drinking water, not sure if this is because of covid.Overall I have never had anything to reproach this team for, and i frequently recommended the team to anyone looking for an affordable Vets practice

Fantastic experience: Took my hamster buddy into your vets sheldon, although sadly he was put down they did explain everything really well and felt reassured that he wouldn't be in pain whilst they put him to sleep. Came home the following Wednesday to find they'd sent me a condolences card to say sorry for the loss of buddy. Didn't expect that, but it was so thoughtful of them and shows the staff care about the animals they treat. Would highly recommend this vets to any who's looking for a decent vets for their pet
