Birmingham (Aston) PDSA Pet Hospital: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Would like to say thank you so much for your great service and professionalism you showed up during today's treatment ❤️ Really appreciate it, behalf our lovely Shadow Best regards Stanislaw
Fantastic experience: Super staff and super service. Really compassionate team here - took our cat who’d got into a scrap, got seen the same day I called. Patient staff and very caring
Fantastic experience: Clean and tidy, super efficient staff
Positive experience: I understand it's a charity but more energy is put into how much
Negative experience: They booked me an appointment without speaking to me so nit convenient date. I need to change It so called up was told to send them an e-mail I did that they gave me another date and asked me to call to pay so tried calling and it advised me to e-mail to arrange for the payment £125 the response was we are busy at the moment can you call to make payment. They clearly do not give care and I've requested it all be cancelled amd going to a private vet now because they are a waste of time
Fantastic experience: Nothing but praise for this veterinary and the staff that work here. For around a year I would say they have treated my cat Bonnie. They have give her everything she needed to make her health improve. But unfortunately Wednesday me and my mother decided it was her time to go to sleep after 16 years of living a fulfilled life. The vets who was with us that day give us all the time we needed and let us say our final goodbyes. They were compassionate and kind not only to Bonnie but to me and my mother. I will forever be grateful to the every one we encountered that day. They made a very hard day a lot better despite them being busy. Thank you so much
Fantastic experience: Always helpful and friendly.Would recommend.
Fantastic experience: I am very impressed I had a phone appointment for my dog Milo this morning as he had a bad ear . Jack sorted it out over the phone he was lovely . And told me to go pick up his medication I then got to the pdsa itself and was greeted by a lovely reception women I asked to show another pic of my dogs ear and vet Charlotte had a look and told me all the medicine was correct for him as I worry . She was lovely also gave me a cone for his head so he’s ear wouldn’t get harmed anymore . I’m really impressed and could not thank them enough ! Thank you x
Fantastic experience: Hello all pet owners and lovers. This was our first appointment and the service was wonderful. Staff on desk were helpful and professional. The vet was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and also alleviated our fears. They should in my belief receive more help be that monetary donations.. volunteer.. and items to assist the team/company. Thank you PDSA. Merry Christmas to you all and all your followers xxx Bridget and Tom Dixon XXX
Negative experience: Really very poor customer service and the deal with the colors
Fantastic experience: Great customer service. Very friendly and helpful staff. People there with really sick pets while i was waiting in the queue one woman very distressed because her dog couldn't stand it kept falling over how sad but a vet came straight out and took the dog into a room to be seen to . Been to various other vets in the past wiyh dogs and cats but never have i seen such dedicated and helpful staff. WELL DONE ALL....
Negative experience: Worst place ever staff need to be replaced they only care about a paycheck not what your dog needs they will give you medication that does nothing and make your dog worse inexperienced all around
Negative experience: Joke of a charity ! No empathy for animals or owners ! My dog was very poorly and had absolutely no support whatsoever! Give your donations to local charities instead !
Fantastic experience: Brilliant don't no what I would do without them
Negative experience: I requested a call back and the vets got back to me 10 days later! When the woman on the phone called, she had come across as extremely rude accusing me of neglecting my pet and showed no sympathy towards the situation.
Negative experience: Called these for help and advice today and what a joke it was. My call was answered by a totally unempathetic rude lady today to which I was furious, her overall and only main concern was being registered and had no concern for my dog at all. While I understand they are no longer taking new registrations which is fine I get it, upon asking for help to be directed to someone else that can help she gave me a number for a place that doesn't even do vetinary care how stupid so my dog has now suffered longer than he needed to .. can't see us fine no problem.. but at least get your information right when giving advice and maybe lower the tone and be a bit more empathetic to worrying dog owners.
Negative experience: Rude women Sally on the phones. Don’t go here
Fantastic experience: I just want to say a huge thank you to all the staff at the PDSA Aston for there great work and understanding, especially a vetinary nurse named Charlotte McEwan. I took my little dog Honey there yesterday at 4.15pm without an appointment and was seen almost immediately, she was very ill and it turned to be end of life kidney failure and in a lot of pain. The best and kindest thing as heartbreaking as it was , was to put her to sleep and I couldn't wished for a more understanding and attentive vetinary nurse Charlotte made everything more bearable and really did understand and gave us time alone with Honey and never rushed us , I really couldn't asked for a better member of staff in the time of our need, thank you Charlotte and the rest of the PDSA for all your help with Honey
Positive experience: I took my dog, who was over 13 years old, to the PDSA. Sadly, things did not end happily, but the vet who cared for her was both compassionate and understanding throughout. I would definitely consider using their service again for my other pets.
Fantastic experience: Despite the hour plus wait after the appointment. How could anyone give these lovely people less than five stars. Couldn't thank them enough Thank you
Negative experience: I had went to see a vet called “CHARLOTTE” a couple of days ago the black lady she was very rude had a attitude my dog is very nervous an he can get very overwhelmed which makes him seem aggressive she didn’t bother to greet my pet to make him feel comfortable or anything I had taken measures to make sure that he didn’t bite I brought him a muzzle from home due to him being a flat faced breed he an only have certain ones she then tried to recommend him having one that wasn’t suitable for his breed then when my dog had very very slightly nipped her she then started rolling her eyes an taking it out on me like it was my fault when I had asked her for her name she refused to give it me very immaturely an told me I had to asked the front desk she didn’t even bother to check my dog over properly I get that it’s reduced cost service an everyone does the best they can but I always make atleast a 25-30 donation an I expect to be treated with the respect especially by the veterinary staff this vet just looked like she didn’t want to be there i thought maybe she was having a bad day but I’ve had her before an her attitude is always like this
Negative experience: Disgusting i brought my dog there and im homeless. All the women care about is money
Fantastic experience: Fantastic place. They really are there for the animals, not money. The vet was so good at understanding that my dog was really nervous. She was great with him
Negative experience: Extremely disappointed with my experience at PDSA Aston today. I was left waiting for over an hour due to Richard, the admin staff member, failing to check my pet in. He was free when I arrived at the desk to check in but chose to ignore me and make a phone call instead of helping. I’m heavily pregnant, and this lack of consideration was appalling. During the wait, my dog Cookie urinated in the waiting area. When I mentioned it to Richard, he simply pointed to a mop, offering no further assistance. Thankfully, a kind vet noticed my struggle and helped clean up, but the damage was done. The worst part came when I went to pay for Cookie’s medication. Laura, who was dispensing the medication at the time, asked if I’d be making a voluntary donation today. I explained I usually do donate but I couldn’t today and she proceeded to lecture me about how the vets rely on donations. I said I would pay for my dogs medication but that was all. After collecting my payment she then rudely pointed out I hadn’t donated since February. I was shocked by her passive aggressive attitude and complete lack of professionalism. I responded by informing Laura that I wouldn't be making a voluntary donation after the appalling experience I encountered today. I have never experienced such condescending behaviour at the PDSA before. I have made a formal complaint about my experience today, I am currently awaiting the managers response. Hopefully this will be dealt with professionally and timely.
Negative experience: Pdsa wouldn't let me register my 13 year old Yorkshire terrier this week. As apparently they not taking any older pets. The dog got heart problems. U call yourself a charitable service providing care for people on low income. And thier sick animals
Positive experience: Nurses are really nice. In terms of the vets some are really nice while others are quite rude and give the impression they don’t want to be there, wait times are extremely long even after giving you a scheduled time, but expected since they offer free and discounted services
Positive experience: Very good vets. Everything very professional. Except for the very rude receptionist. Actually embarrassed me in front of a room full of people. And my cat was being put to sleep that day.
Fantastic experience: Poorly cat needed to see vets. They booked me in for 12:00 but was seen at 1:00pm. Very busy. Lovely vet checked over and gave injection and medicine to take at home. Poor cat cried all the way home that I took him to the pet hospital. They are really great.
Negative experience: I should have written a review 4 years ago. My kitten was DYING. I called this place. The lady told me that it's open. I arrived ON TIME. WE HAD 10 MINS LEFT. I called them and guess what she said. She said it's closed now? Seriously? It wasn't closed now and I tried to negotiate with her that it was an emergency and she just hung up. Now my kitten is dead because of you. He died that day but a few hours later. She could have given tips and advice for him. But no, humans are heartless these days. I thought this was a charity organisation? Where is the empathy? Generosity? They could have called and asked if my kitten was feeling better just like the vets did. Never judge a book by its cover. Thank (hate) u ☺️ P.S. I had depression when he left me.
Negative experience: Our cat was registered there a number of years ago had a chip done and nueted called 2 days ago for an apointment told sorry no chance has I did not re registered every year I'm 66 on pension I was told they can't help me
Negative experience: I'm still waiting for appointment for my Dog what I requested appointment a month ago also still for them to get bk to me. About my puppy. What requested a week ago and I understand they are busy with emergency case but they could. Would simply email or text or something saying they can see our pets or can offer the. Services we -require would really helpful
Fantastic experience: You must make appointment unless its an emergency the vets are really lovely plenty of parking
Fantastic experience: Had to take our dog charlie today to be put to sleep the nurse was lovely and so was the vet Let us be with him.when he passed and stay with him after .
Fantastic experience: (Edited) A decent veterinary hospital. Quick service and got called on time. Overall a good pet hospital. Past few appointments I have been offered within a day which is so helpful as you want your pet to be seen urgent! Considering all the shortages etc. Still managed to get appointments!
Positive experience: It was ok. Very professional, finally explained the cost of treatment and why we had such a big bill. We had to use Blaise Vets as well as it was out of hours. Blaise did not explain how much it was all going to cost so it was a bit of a shock. PDSA however explained it brilliantly.
Fantastic experience: Can't thank PDSA Aston enough. From reception to the vets. They are so helpful and friendly. Thankyou.
Fantastic experience: They have been amazing even though I've had to have 2 cats put to sleep over an 18 month period. Which as broken my heart x
Negative experience: The receptionist attitude is disgusting and should be investigated on the phone lines just awful and not what anyone needs when calling for a pet emergency!!!
Negative experience: Receptionist at Aston is awful and very rude think she should consider some training it’s lucky my husband takes my pet as I would politely tell her about her people skills told by emergency to take my pet to Aston for the receptionist to moan I wonder if she’s a pet owner as she may have more compassion Phone lines are awful to get through
Fantastic experience: Great service highly recommend 10/10
Fantastic experience: Today I went with my cat for her first vaccination and chipping. The lady was very nice to us. She explained everything to us beautifully. We are pleased with the visit. I recommend PDSA Aston.
Fantastic experience: Great vet's they looked after my pet family and me when l had to let part of my family pass away there name's was rocky and Tom over family and over dog Charlie they was part of a family l just want to say thankyou form all the family xx
Positive experience: Great vets however whoever does the phonelines needs a review as twice now the person has made me wait for an EMERGENCY service for an hour each time and then instantly put the phone down when it gets to my turn. Didn’t even speak a word!
Negative experience: Absolutely terrible. I told them my dog has been limping and is in pain but they told me it’s not an emergency and I need to complete the form. I can’t complete the form due to having to re register as it’s expired which will take two working days. Trying to call back for the past hour now to try and get an appointment and the call keeps going quiet and no answer I’ve had to call back 7 times now. For a pet charity there is no care shown at all. I’ve donated 100s of pounds but can’t get an appointment does that money even go to the animals. ♀️
Fantastic experience: Had to collect medication today and was all straightforward. Staff were friendly.
Fantastic experience: Very good for pet, free treatment only medication pay.i would definitely recommend to anyone who has cat,
Fantastic experience: They was so friendly and helpful realy looked after my little dog thank you so very much
Fantastic experience: Amazing Animal hospital 2nd time they've come to the rescue with dog. Stayed open late to do my boys surgery. Forever thankful.
Fantastic experience: The PDSA is a very good place for animals if you can't afford a vet near you will need proof of your benefits to get their help and believe me they do help I've been going for a lot of years and they have always been there for me
Fantastic experience: Great service. People moan about wait times but it’s not like it’s intentional and you’d wait as long and pay more than triple if you went elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: Took my wife cat to see the vet today 1st class service can’t thank them enough highly recommend
Negative experience: My cat had to be put down after serious breathing difficulties, I had to go all the way to Rednal as it was after 6pm, I approached the desk to pay and was told there is nothing to pay, I said are you sure? Please check, she did and said no no charge, I took my cat home and buried her, since then I have been hounded by email and phone for £155 which I can't pay, only on state pension, they are telling me if I don't pay I can't use their services anymore and they are doing me a favour charging the minimum, according to them even though vets fees are not set prices anywhere, this is not a charity its a business and they won't have any sympathy for people's circumstances.
Positive experience: They do great work here for your pet, fully qualified people so you get great service.
Negative experience: The rudest reception staff/emergency call handler i have ever encountered, in my 20 years of being in customer facing roles i have never seen such appalling service. All they care about is money, not the well being of your pets. They don’t smile and they talk to you like you’re stupid which is quite laughable as they don’t seem to even share a singular brain cell, better off talking to a brick wall since they do not listen to you at all. They only ‘care’ when it’s too late and they can get money off of you because your pet is dying. From other reviews this is clearly not a one off.
Negative experience: What is the point in having an emergency option if no one answers the phone....... absolutely ridiculous. The lady on reception has no people skills and shouldn't be aloud to answer the phone. She is rude to every person she answers the phone to. She leaves the phone ringing and just ignores it. She is a real jobs worth. People shouldn't have to put up with people like her when they are already going threw a tough time. such a shame as the vets are absolutely lovely and so compassionate and caring. She really brings down the mood
Negative experience: Barely let me speak on the phone , and tolde to call somewhere else and I was so shocked, I had a moment of silence and then all I could say was a quiet ok and then they hung up on me
Negative experience: I don't know what happened to this PDSA the reception staff just don't seem to care and there are not enough vets I waited over ninety minutes past my appointment time and when I asked the receptionist why I was waiting so long she said this is a charity vets not a high street vets
Negative experience: The receptionist people are useless been on the phone for over 2 hours still no answer and very rude and not helpful at all
Fantastic experience: Had to let my 15 year old go to doggy heaven today. The PDSA Staff were all so kind and caring, both to my beloved boy and myself. Thank you Can I make a request on behalf of Alfie. If you are having a clear out, please consider donating to a PDSA charity shop. They do such wonderful work in looking after our sick pets and desperately need all the help you can give. Thank you from Elizabeth and Alfie
Negative experience: Reception lady & the vet we saw were extremely rude, they also try to say things to make you feel like a bad person. Went here with my boyfriend and our cat who turned out to be pregnant but because she is very young they kept inflicting that she would die and just being horrible. She’s had her babies 2 months ago and is in perfect health!
Negative experience: We got there a few minutes before the appointment but we weren’t seen till almost an hour later which was very inconsiderate
Fantastic experience: My cat was ill phoned the service, told to come in , arrived cat was taken straight away, very professional and pleasant service..
Positive experience: Good veterinary care for my little girl with a sore lump on her bum. Still confused as to why people who are getting more benefits eg housing get their vet fees for nothing whereas I'm on only PIP and Universal Credit but have to pay? Makes no sense to me.
Negative experience: Was told my dog had cancer just by looking at his thumb they also said they know he has because his skin looks like cancer even though I got tests dog at my vets now and they said it was dermititis told them this and they wouldn't have none of it they wouldn't even do anything no x-ray our nothing for his thumb they said I should get ready to put him down so I took him to this vet I have now and they actually did tests it was not cancer at all and I already knew his skin wasn't cancer because this other vets said it years ago to and I told them this and I tried taking it further but got called a liar got a way better vet now anyway but thought I'd let people know to get a 2nd opinion coz these seem to like putting animals down because before me I knew a family dog that they tried saying it to as well she lived years after because a 2nd opinion after my situation as well someone went to this vets and all there puppies died this vet is no good found a much nicer better polite vets now
Fantastic experience: I took my sick cat the staff were friendly polite helpful the vet was lovely she explained everything she was doing and she was clear and understanding thank you
Positive experience: Been here a number of times since realising I could register my cats under my mother’s name who gets pension credit. I was charged £20 for the first consultation. A full panel blood test with checking for feline HIV was around £36. An ultrasound was £24. These prices are literally free compared to what private vets charge. Medicine is also very cheap. See my review for Vets for Pets where I discuss their prices - they would probably charge £50 just to wipe my cats nose. The downside is that waiting times can be long. The waiting area isn’t well separated and a few times there have been massive aggressive dogs in there I’ve had to walk past. The car park is a decent size. Also I’ve found the vets to be more warmer than private ones. They seem to have more spark in them.
Positive experience: Vets are amazing. It's a very, very long wait can never get through to get an appointment, which is reather scary when you have a poorly animal seen us twice without an appointment but did say they will get a manger to see us as we are putting them under pressure we never intended to put any pressure on them our little boy is having very bad breathing difficulties and can never get though on the phone or Internet still a very good vets
Fantastic experience: Really helpful and essential part of today's world. We rely on due to cost of living. Thank you for being there
Negative experience: I wouldn’t even give them one star the customer service is appalling the lady was rude and unhelpful can’t get through to them unless your on the emergency line even then your waiting 40 mins and the call back form is a load of rubbish put in two appointments calls back over a month and not got anything back not an email not a call nothing don’t even bother going honestly it’s a joke I used to go here for my other cats but I will no longer be going it has gone down hill !!!
Fantastic experience: Thank you so much today my cat pip is doing very well it has been one rise of a day but you guys really made. Difference my son is so happy to see his cat and I really don’t know what I would have done if it was not for your team oldbury was the first place I went today and they rufused to see him and sent us to Aston the lady at oldbury was extremely rude to me and took no regards to how much pain my cat was in and she new I had traveled by bus as I told her but she said it’s not her problem we went to the wrong PDSA hospital I’m so glad Aston where so much nicer and treated me and my cat with the most respect I have ever had the vet was extremely helpful and I’m forever greatful thank you so much guys
Fantastic experience: Caring and compassionate staff, through out. Long wait, but expected, due to very busy and unexpected for emergencies. Veterinarian staff, really explanatory and willing to help best way they can.
Fantastic experience: Staff were all lovely, sadly had to have one of my kittens put down but the vet himself was so supportive allowed me to have some time with her before taking her away.
Negative experience: THIS SHOULD NOT BE A REGISTERED PLACE TO TAKE YOUR PETS IT TOOK 8 DAYS FOR US TO GET OUR BOY ENGLISH BULLDOG LOUIS REGISTERED AND ONCE WE DID GET HIM FINALLY REGISTERED AND THEY GAVE HIM A CHECK OVER THEY HAD TO GIVE HIM AN OPERATION ON HIS STOMACH TO REMOVE MATERIAL HE HAD EATEN ONCE THEY HAD DONE THE SURGERY THEY RELEASED LOUIS STRAIGHT AWAY TO ME AND GAVE ME A FORM TO SIGN STATING THAT HE WAS GIVEN NON ANIMAL MEDICATION I WAS GIVEN AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE HIM IN AFTER 3 DAYS OF HIM BEING HOME SO HE COULD BE PUT ON A ANTIBIOTICS DRIP FOR A FEW HOURS EVENTUALLY AFTER HE DETERIORATED EVEN MORE I TOOK HIM BACK TO THE PDSA AND THEY WOULDNT KEEP HIM IN THEY DAID AFTER 5 YEARS CLINICAL PRACTICE AND 7YEARS QUALIFIED VETERINARY PRACTITIONER SHE SAID THAT THE BEST THING WOULD BE TO PUT HIM DOWN AFTER A STRONG DEBATE SHE BROUGHT IN THE POLICE AND RSPCA EVENTUALLY INSPECTOR STEVE MORRAL AND THE POLICE DECIDED FOR LOUIS TO BE TAKEN TO RSPCA HOSPITAL FRANKLEY WHERE HE LIVED FROM THE 8TH FEBUARY 2024 UP UNTIL 1ST MARCH 2024 WHEN SADLEY WE HAD TO GO AND SAY OUR GOODBYES THANKS TO PDSA NOT DOING THEIR JOBS PROPERLY MY POOR LOUIS WAS FIGHTING EVERYDAY TO GET BETTER BUT IT WAS TO LATE I WOULD SUGGEST NOT TO TAKE YOUR PETS ANYQHERE NEAR THIS PLACE THEY ARE PURE ANIMAL KILLERS THIS IS NOT THE FIRST PET THEYVE DONE IT TO THEY TRIED TO TELL MY FAMILY MEMBER THEIR DOG HAD CANCER AND SHE DIDNT HAVE ANYTHING OF THE SORT SO JUST BE CAREFUL QHEN LISTENING TO WHAT THE VETS AT PDSA TELL YOU AND GET A SECOND OPINION
Fantastic experience: Yesterday was a very hard day, we had to let our cat Shelby go & be free of pain & bewilderment. After 17 years of pure love, joy & smiles you brought to our home, You are an outstanding team. Our gorgeous Shelby was very slowly put to sleep, we were given time with her to say our goodbye's for now, the vet was honest & very caring. I was broken hearted as i left, but i suddenly knew what i could to help PDSA, & went back in to give them my last £30. Every penny i hope helps them out in every way. You are the best Thank you for everything
Fantastic experience: The overhall staff are good the reception has the habit of giveing your timed place to some one else evan if you have already booked in
Fantastic experience: Looked after our cat last year and was sensitive when we had to have her put down. Even gave us some fur and a paw print.
Negative experience: Awful receptionist named Sally (wouldn’t be surprised if she gave me a false name). No compassion or empathy on the phone lines, I reiterated are they any sooner appointments as opposed to the next working day since my DOG IS BLEEDING OUT and was told “I’m just relaying what the vet has said, do I want the appointment or not?” Very unprofessional.
Negative experience: SHOCKING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! Please for the good of your pets do not go here. Bev was extremely rude and was speaking over me again and again telling me that I had to pay an outstanding bill of £150 even though I was clearly told multiple times that all the treatment was free for me because I am on universal credit and I have council tax reduction and I’m in temporary housing by the council but the only thing that I didn’t have paper work for was the temporary housing. I told her that my cat was dying and she was unapologetic and did not care at all. When ever I tried to explain all this to her she kept saying that she was going to hang up and that the conversation wasn’t going anywhere, she also told that I couldn’t to a manager because the manager wasn’t on duty. SHE HUNG UP ON ME!?
Fantastic experience: My 7-year-old Maltese had a big lump removed from her back today, and although a little sulky she's doing great, I was kept informed on her progress, and she was a tricky patient, but they managed to stabilise her, I highly recommend this place but please contribute when you can as they do an amazing job, I also donate on a monthly direct debit as I know the money is well spent on our poorly pets, they are always incredibly busy and work very hard.
Fantastic experience: Receptionist was very helpful, discreet and welcoming. Vet was calming helpful with explaining my pet’s issues. The dispenser thanked me for my donation when I collected my pet’s medication. Didn’t really wait too long to be seen, even though it was fairly busy. If you can get there, it’s a vet hospital I’d recommend
Fantastic experience: Wonderful and caring staff. They don't get enough appreciation by some of the people that go there.
Fantastic experience: Lovely experience. Very helpful front desk and a wonderful vet who apologised for the delay in seeing me. Many thanks.
Fantastic experience: Very helpful and caring. A little hard to get any help over the weekends as they not open. Very clear with advice
Positive experience: It's great because it's a lot cheaper the vet was lovley, but I waited over an hour to be seen, it was way to busy.
Negative experience: Terrible service. I booked an appoitment online 10 times, emailed, and called pdsa, but still don't have an appoitment for my cat. Appalling behaviour.
Fantastic experience: To the staff that were involved in my dogs ovariohysterectomy operation and care today, you did fantastic, massive thank you. It's not hard to keep aside the minimum 20£ requirement to have your pet checked over. the audacity to complain about the cost or give the bare minimum obviously didn't give their animal friend much thought to begin with. unfortunately, some owners are parasitically unwilling to give. Help the pdsa to help others as it could be your pet they help next. donate when possible or pay a visit to your locally run pdsa charity shop.
Fantastic experience: I use just one time because my bulldog have some allergy.Great place if u can't pay full bill in vet.Just the donation in reception say minimum 20£ but if its say donation so don't know why its minimum 20£ because this use just people in benefits. But better give 20£ then give in vet 160£ for 10min
Negative experience: Our kitten was sick they don’t do tests just give medication for illnesses they don’t even know if you cat has. They are constantly doing surgeries on frenchies to breathe for free or low cost but can’t even do a simple poo or blood test on a very sick cat. I don’t know if dogs are their priority but not good enough
Negative experience: Absolutely Ridiculous. Id like to start off by saying I have a dog who is reactive to other dogs and will bark when he sees them. He is also small and shorthaired so keeping him outside is an option, but it means my dog will be cold (which before surgery is not preferred). I came today to drop my dog off (appointment at 8) I then sat in the waiting room with him for half an hour. He obviously spent the whole time barking, which everyone seemed fine with and just smiled at him. As soon as a new member of staff came to the desk (older woman with blonde/white bob) She rudely said “can SOMEONE take there dog out as once the phones start we wont be able to hear”. This was so condescending and rude. I wouldnt mind but a Vets is a place for dogs, and barking is a dogs natural behaviour which Id expect an animal care member of staff to be aware of. Having trained and worked in veterinary practices myself I know this is NOT a requirement, and had no need to be said. I then spent the rest of my waiting time with everyone staring at me. So Id like to point out to anyone going here with a reactive dog, 1- Theres nowhere for reactive dogs to sit comfortably before a stressful surgery or experience. They will be kicked out for their natural behaviours and be made to sit in the cold. All it would take is for them to add a curtain to some of their panels in the seating area and I would have been able to calm him down. 2- The staff are usually overall great and understanding towards his behaviour but apparently some of their staff are judgemental and unaware of dogs’ natural behaviour. 3- When they book you an appointment for 8, wait about half an hour before actually taking your dog inside because they will leave you waiting that long then complain when your dog is making too much noise. I have been bringing my dog here for years and never had any issues. Its usually quite an understanding place (as I am aware my dog is loud and annoying to some) but on this particular day I felt judged and bullied out of the premises…. Extremely dissapointed.
Negative experience: Stinks of wet dog, horrible staff who are rude. The nurses and vets sound like they don’t know what they’re talking about, they don’t sound confident, not very informative either. Only go here if you genuinely cannot afford private. Best way to go is private. It’s expensive but it’s honestly worth your pets life.
Negative experience: I bought my 1 week old kitten yesterday and she told me she’s perfectly fine. This morning she woke up in lots of pain and crying so we rushed him to the hospital again and past away in there hands. This is absolutely ridiculous why would we bring him to u for no absolute reason. There’s a reason why we came in yesterday because she wasn’t acting normally in the first place. Disappointed in this place
Positive experience: Trudy or Tracey whatever her name is at reception brunette old lady with glasses needs to learn to be more considerate asking everyone walking through the door who qualify for free treatment as well as low cost for a minimum of £20 donation and turning her nose up at those who say they can’t afford that. A donation is meant to be all you can afford why would you put those of us on the spot knowing we may not be able to afford this. GET RID OF HER!
Fantastic experience: Really can't thank all the staff enough for what they have done got back in contact with me in less than half an hour of describing Georgies condition ....seen her the same day ...was told to come back in the morning as she needed to have tests done left her there but then had the heart dropping call to say how poorly she was and chances weren't good as she needed operation but they pulled it out the bag and she's back home with us again and got a second chance in life now one happy family again .......thank u once again
Fantastic experience: Can't fault this place all as it is run entirely on donations. I have had many pets treated here, to minior treatment to surgery. I've also experienced sad times having 2 dogs put to sleep at the end of their life, the staff & vets are thoughtful and compassionate throughout offering to do paw prints & fur clippings etc. Thanks for everything you guys do <3
Negative experience: Absolutely appalling ! Staff ( reception ) don’t care ! No people skills , moody faces clearly hate there job !! Clients don’t need this when they are visiting vets with their pets ! They seem to be making lots of mistakes as I witnessed myself as I had accidentally been left waiting 45 mins for medication that hadn’t even been put through! Also no water for animals available given the heat we’ve been having . Awful place it used to be so good I feel sorry for the animals if I were an animal I wouldn’t want to get seen by any of the miserable staff in there
Positive experience: My baby Boo had 2 operations in one her eye and was spaded the only complaint i have is the they said they would call me 2 days later to see how she was doing and if there was any problems but they never did, luckily she was fine but it being my first dog and 1st experience with anything like this I was greatly disappointed to not receive a phone call. That's exactly why my rating is ⅘ on the strength of being a 1st time mom luckily for me I have dog friends and neighbours you were able to put my mind at ease and lessen my anxiety about am I doing this right.
Negative experience: This organization is a nightmare to deal with and do their upmost not to have to deal with sick pets. I have been trying to organize referral and and appointment for my 90 yr old neighbor's cat for 2 weeks and still getting now where. They seem to put every single obstacle possible in the way of getting any help from them and the member of staff I spoke to was very very rude and of no help what so ever. Given up in the end and had to spend £100's of pounds of my own money as the elderly gent can't afford to have his cat seen to and they are his life. Absolutely disgusted with this charity.
Negative experience: Terrible time here with my cat. They were 'rushed for time ' because it was Friday closing time. Absolutely no remorse in the fact that they had chosen to give the 'lethal injection ' rather than transport him to a place to get the help he needed. I was told that what he needed was beyond the charity. They gave up and we are heartbroken.
Negative experience: Called at 3:45pm , was on hold till 5:40pm only to be told they’re closing now and we need to call at 6pm for after hours ok? Called at 6pm same person answered saying our cat isnt on the system and not registered but she is registered and had treatment couple of weeks ago strange, told to register again (2day process) we needed urgent care and wasn’t given any advice or help, decided to go to our local vet in the end not happy sorry
Negative experience: Very rude receptionist if your trying to get an appointment or anything of ur distressing enquiry about your animal the woman over the phone was so rude and when I managed to get an appointment on the day at the veterinary made us wait for hours it's like these people at these centres are not like humans just a job that's all and another thing slightest illness they would suggest that we just put our pet down for life how unhuman these people are disgusting
