Oaks Veterinary Centre: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Thankyou for helping me with my Cat!
Fantastic experience: Lovely staff, always happy to see the puppy, he loves going to visit!
Negative experience: Service is fantastic and staff is good, i came in for cat surgery but after the surgery my cat got flea from there which literally tripled the cost of the surgery there itself
Fantastic experience: We had a great experience with our cat here. We’d moved from another part of the country, and our boy is quite anxious and spicy. He was in for dental surgery this week, they called us to fetch him, did a debrief, and he’s doing great. He’s always pretty traumatised by this kind of thing but he seemed pretty calm about it all and has bounced back great today. Tommy says thank you!
Fantastic experience: First time using this veterinary centre, all I can say is the staff and vets staff are absolutely amazing people on phone and speaking face to face helping with us with our family dog and price list are great. Definitely be using veterinary centre again in the near future. Thank you to all staff..
Negative experience: Really don’t recommend Rebecca, but unfortunelly she is the boss for this vet.
Fantastic experience: Took our 3 cats in today and was seen by the amazing Angie! She was great. So thorough, explained everything and dealt with our 3 very different behavioured cats. A great vets with the loveliest staff. Wouldn't take our fur babies anywhere else.
Fantastic experience: Very good staff, no more no less to say
Fantastic experience: I would like say big thank you to Nicky she is always helpful ,kind and I can tell she has a passion for animals .❤️
Fantastic experience: Really like these vets. I registered on Tuesday and got an appointment the same day. I used to be with manor vets and booking an appointment would usually mean a few days wait, and when I was lucky enough to get an appt I'd be waiting up to an hour after the appointment time! I got seen on time. Vet was very friendly and informative. Receptionists were lovely. There are separate waiting rooms for cats and dogs which is nice. Cheap in comparison to other vets. Hopefully won't need to see them soon but if I do I know the cats will be in good hands
Fantastic experience: Vet Nicki is very professional, kind, and helpful. Fees at oaks vets are reasonable. Appointments are generally very available.
Fantastic experience: Staff are always friendly & helpful as are the vets & nurses . Prices are abit cheaper than some other vets practices
Fantastic experience: Great place lovely staff
Fantastic experience: Moved there from Vets4Pets and immediately felt like my cats are finally in the right hands! Vanessa is absolutely lovely, extremely informative and you can tell she loves what she does. The nurses are thorough and kind as well. Thank you all so much for taking care of Donald during his surgery today, he’s having a well deserved nap now :)
Negative experience: Absolutely vile receptionist , my mom registered my kitten yesterday for £45 , took her for a appointment due to her not being able to walk and having seizures , they took the cat in to get the bloods done without saying , also not mentioning that it was going to be £150 on top of the £45 already paid. When receiving the kitten back and going to pay , they said it would be £195 after only being told £45 , so my mom questioned the price to what the receptionist replied ‘well you shouldn’t have a cat if you can’t afford it’. Which was not my moms fault due to to her being told it was only £45 . My mom had just found out our kitten needs to be put down and the receptionist made her feel so little that the was crying in the vets , which the receptionist carried on belittling my mom, blonde women with long hair and glasses , multiple of the customers in there at the time, supported my mom and helped her through the vile words the receptionist was saying , so blooding unprofessional it’s unbelievable . Honeslty never known anyone anyone to speak so unprofessionally whilest at work, honeslty fuming my mom was treated like that, from the reviews it seems it’s not the first time the receptionist has done this. Absolute disgrace
Fantastic experience: Oaks have looked after our Otis very well in spite of his tendency to get aggressive when fed up with being handled
Fantastic experience: I visited for the first time today. It was clean, the staff on reception were polite and friendly. The vet was lovely and handled my dog well. I was happy with the treatment and future plan.
Fantastic experience: We've used Oaks for a while now and when it came to the difficult decision to have our very much loved dog put to sleep recently Rebecca was second to none. Rebecca and the team showed such compassion to both myself and my dog at a very difficult time. I highly recommend the practice.
Fantastic experience: Oaks vets is honestly the most amazing vet practice. I have been using them for 7years and they have always been efficient, prompt and available. But this last week I had to unexpectedly say goodbye to my best friend, my cat Georgie and there could not have been a more considerate and loving way to make this happen: the team let us have some good quality time to say goodbye which meant the world to me and I will cherish forever. Rebecca the main vet was so caring and considerate, reassuring and pragmatic in somehow equal measure and she kept us informed every step of the way. Whilst the loss of my cat does not get easier, I will be forever grateful to the Oaks team. This also includes Vanessa who also examined him and was so patient and kind and a special thanks to the reception team: you don't know how much it means to us for effectively strangers to offer such kindness and respect for our loss . And Carrie in reception is fabulous, she was so patient with me when I rang with a million random questions - the Oaks team is lucky to have you all and THANK YOU again for your love of animals and the work you do every day - you really make a difference!
Fantastic experience: Took my sister's dog for his annual vaccination. Staff were very friendly and professional. Thank you
Negative experience: Rebecca will not tell you what is wrong with your dog then when it's finally deteriated because she hasn't refered you to a neurologist vet who can CT scan it, she will want to put your dog down straight away and without having seen a CT scan she will make a judgement and tell you you have two days to get your head around it. "I won't let you go more than two days to have your dog put down." My sister's dog is now in an animal hospital having had an operation the same day the neurologist saw him. Another vet else where put us onto the neurologist vet who has a good reputation.
Negative experience: I’ve been going to this vets for about 2 years and would love to leave a glowing review. Sadly, the reality is quite different. Each time I go, which fortunately isn’t often, I leave feeling as though I’ve been told off. The vet, I can’t remember her name, is incredibly patronising. The rest of the staff are, on the whole, pleasant. If you’re looking for a vet, I’d suggest looking further a field.
Negative experience: We went in with my sister's dog, Pierre, in January with concerns as he stopped mid way during walking and required picking up. So we rushed him into the Oaks. Rebecca did not listen to a word we said more interested in palette & nasal surgery. I asked repeatedly for a CT scan and was turned down. I said to Rebecca I think it's a slipped disk. Rebecca said "its his breed, maybe he just doesnt want to walk". She patronised us and ignored our request. She then proceeded to twist his neck, that hard he yelped in so much pain that she was concerned that he tried to bite her, which he did not, and he is a placid dog. What vet thinks it's a good idea to twist a dogs neck when you have come in over concerns of his spine and legs?? The vet is inhumane. She wanted to prolong his treatment for financial gain. And why prescribe pain relief if she felt there was nothing wrong with him other than trying to get my mom to pay for nasal and palette surgery. She said repeatedly that there's no need for a CT and said she would do bloods. We opted for bloods and was told to take the painkillers. (By the way there is no CT machine here and by refering us it would of meant turning off the money tap). My mom went in several times with the same back legs concern. Each time she had a thing to say about anything other then his legs or getting a scan. Now my sister's dog's legs aren't working. We took him to her like this and she had the audacity to blame us. Update: (Never ever, ever misplace your confidence and what you know to be wrong because a person is called a "vet." It means nothing.) After time and time again failing to do a duty of care based off of his actual symptoms. Rebecca then had the audacity to want payment to put him down. We rushed him to Animal Trust and they read her "glowing" blame shifting notes. However, one surgeon we were referred to saw past these and noticed we had taken him to Rebecca several times and that he in fact needed to be referred for a CT scan which she failed to do. The surgeon told us he was not fully paralysed, which is what she wrote in her notes. (These notes are dangerous as the other vet went along with them.) The surgeon said he can still feel his feet and can put small amount of weight on them. He said after seeing the CT scan - with 99.9% certainty that not only was the surgery doable, he will more than likely pull through. Contrary to what the other post-Rebecca vet had said. They read this vicious woman's notes. Where as the surgeon paid no notice to them. We were told if he had gone to him in January when we had intially saw Rebecca Rowe Pierre would have been CT scanned and treated before this point. The operation was more complex because Rebecca failed to do her job. Any dog that cannot walk for any period of time, whether on and off, or whatever breed should be scanned. The judgement call she made was based on his breed was disgusting. Rebecca Rowe loves throwing around the word neglectful, look at other reviews but she is the neglectful one. She showed contempt for my sister's dog and showed obvious signs that she is against French bulldogs. Her examinations are poor, and she is all up for taking the money. Do not come here. Please, please take your animal to an actual pet hospital where they can be seen by a specialist. Rebecca stalled on any proper diagnosis and failed to refer for scans wasted precious time-sensivitive time only then to blame and go straight to euthanizer because she herself is not trained for the specifics. Or cannot do the simplest of scans. She judged our beautiful friend Pierre blindly - no scan and poor examinations and nearly cost him his life. She fundamentally failed her duty of care. I believe she is sadistic and heartless as long as she is the one getting the money to put your dog down that is still a win for her. Update: Pierre has had surgery and is on the mend. Note to self: trust your instincts. It didn't feel right but she is a vet, so we thought she must know what she is doing. Absolutely not. Trust yourself. And please do not come here.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff and extremely great vets.
Positive experience: I took in my flea circus for a check up. Came out with more than I went in. Result!
Negative experience: We've very sadly left this practice after amazing previous care for both of our two older dogs; all staff across the practice have been wonderful, particularly given we're approaching a very difficult choice with one of them; I really don't want this review to reflect their practice whatsoever. We would like to thank them all for their care and input, particularly Nikki and Sam, and the receptionist that I phoned when I was in tears. However our experience today with Ms Rowe, the practice owner, has singularly been the worse consumer experience of my adult life. She was so rude and combative that it verged on comedic at times. Her affect at best was brusque and when her tone was addressed by us she insisted repeatedly that it was the information that she was delivering and not her manners that were the issue with her having no interest in repairations. When we felt that we could not continue with the consultation due to her patronising and condescending manner, she made it clear that we would not be welcome back at the practice per se, showing little regard for the care needs of our 17 year old dog with cancer. We feel vindicated by the many, many reviews on this site of a similar nature, although sadly it seems non of these have had an impact on her bedside manner. Unfortunately we feel the need to pursue a more formal complaint via her governing body.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely lovely vets and the cost is more than reasonable. I spent many days looking for a vet that could neuter my dog but within my budget. I strongly recommend these vets, they are friendly, helpful and the after care is 5*.
Thank you. That's lovely to hear.
Fantastic experience: Did the EHC for bringing the pets abroad here, very good service and convenience
Fantastic experience: These guys really care about the animals they are dealing with. Took my Harley to be neutered. Very friendly. Very helpful. And they gave me all the advice needed for aftercare
Thank you. We really do!
Positive experience: My cat developed a urine infection in September 2024 (by this point we had been attending the vets for 2 years and my family had done with our previous cats as well in the past) all was okay after a course of antibiotics and pain relief but then a few months later I noticed he was un well again and I took him in and he unfortunately had blocked bladder and needed an emergency operation, he recovered and was allowed back home with me, the next few weeks or so was spent with trips back and forth to the vets along with giving him medication unfortunately he was still not passing urine properly and was blocked again so I had to let him go I know Rebecca and the team did everything they could to try and help him. They were all so caring (my boy was scared but he was such a Mommy’s boy he only loved me and no-one else) I’ve given 4 stars rather than 5 as I was seen by a locum vet at one point and as lovely as he was he gave me incorrect information at one point.
Fantastic experience: Everyone is so friendly and the advice we got on our new puppy was really helpful. I would say they are trustworthy so we would definitely recommend this vets. The prices seem fair and the new puppy started pack was great value. Thank you!
Thank you.
Negative experience: Please make sure you see Rebecca if you want to be patronised, belittled, castigated and made to feel like a terrible person. You will not be disappointed. But if you want to be spoken with not spoken to and you want kind, responsive care think twice, thrice etc
Negative experience: Some of the staff are absolutely lovely but one of the vets was very rude, patronising and unhelpful. We also ran into a few admin issues at the practice which were all ultimately resolved but caused a few headaches.
Fantastic experience: Great vet, experienced team with lots of expertise. They also do a great annual value package that includes flea and worming are and a nurse checkup.
Fantastic experience: I had a great first visit, staff and doctor were very helpful, totally recommend this veterinary clinic
Thank you.
Fantastic experience: I took our dog Taz for a 6 month check, Wednesday 16th October all the staff were friendly we saw Sophie who was extremely kind and lovely with Taz and me.Also Michelle who is always so kind lovely and helpful thank you so much it truly is appreciated ❤️ They are really helpful , really kind , and they saw our dog as an emergency they listened and were patient with us and looked after our dog really well .huge thank you
Fantastic experience: Simply the best they been so nice with my 13 years old shar pei .thanks a lot guys Mike is feel much better now
Negative experience: One star, only because google doesn't have zero or negative stars! So, we had to deal with a real funny situation, we wanted a health certificate to travel for our puppy with both of our names in it. Because of that, they wanted to charge us extra 60 GBP in addition to the usual charge of issuing a health certificate! This was not only very weird, but also the way they wanted to do it, because: 1. First I was asked to pay the whole amount without showing me the breakdown of the cost. When I asked the secretary to show me the breakdown, she was extremely rude asking me to pay so that she can show me what I am paying for. Once I paid, I complained why I am paying an extra 60 GBP, she started to argue with me that issuing your certificate was too time consuming because there will be two names on it, so you have to pay more. 2. In the middle of this very weird conversation, the Vet came out and invite me into her office to discuss the details of the price only after I had paid! No much time passed, I found myself and my puppy cornered in her office together with her and the manager shooting at me questions around if I have enough qualification to issue the certificate myself, and the fact that the Vet has a lot of qualifications, and she deserves this extra money. Where, in reality, only this was a case in which the vet hadn’t encountered before (I.e. issuing a certificate for two owners). I challenged the vet and the manager for this, but never received any reasonable answer for that, instead of me being invited to use another vet. 3. In the 30-45 minutes that we were cornered in that office, I was told several times that because you want both your names to be there, the vet had to do lots of research!, and needs to fill several forms hence the need for the extra charge, when the only thing they had to do was to un-cross one item in the health certificate only to allow both of us being in it. 4. Even funnier, and after such a stressful situation posed on me and my puppy, we also received an email from the manager today (see also in attachment), inviting us basically to leave the vet (I assume because we didn’t want to get robbed!). Once I received the health certificate (only with one name because I didn’t want to pay the extra amount), I noticed all this was basically a 2-minute job as the conventional forms provide the option of having different people on the health certificate. But, the vet just wanted to charge me, and as I didn’t pay they crossed that option out! It’s outrageous that we are expected to pay for their incompetence and lack of knowledge of the procedures or for the feel of opportunity to charge a client. This experience has left us and our puppy with extreme anxiety, while questioning the competence of this veterinary.
Positive experience: Young girls on the desk left me waiting. She said I will be with you in a minute, but another lady helped me.
Dear Mr Dalton
I'm sorry you had a poor experience. Please could you give our Practice Manager a call to give more information?
Negative experience: We attended with our gorgeous kitten for a new kitten health check - saw a very standoffish vet Rebecca with a vet student- no asking of consent, barely examined our kitten and told us he had fleas and then proceeded to paint the worst ever picture of fleas and how it will take over 12 months to remove from our house then shoved our kitten back into the carrier despite not even having given its imms and fleas treatment as if it was jail- absolutely no bedside manner and no politeness and intent on selling pet insurance , I was then contacted by pet insurance despite not giving consent - all witness by my young son who told me how sad he was and how horrible the vet had been , I’m making a formal complaint. No wonder there was no problem getting an appointment. This is not how to deal with a new registration or how to talk about fleas to a new owner or child - my son was so scared and I was interested to see how my son to could see how disinterested this vet was in her job.
Dear Rania
We are sorry you feel you had a poor experience. The safety of your pet is our primary concern at the practice. We have not heard from you regarding a complaint. Please call Michelle, our Practice Manager to discuss your concerns. Incidentally, we provide work experience for students as a requirement for university applications and do not require consent for them to be present. Likewise, we do not sell pet insurance but simply offer you the information regarding such and your kitten pack includes 4 weeks' free insurance with Petplan which you need to authorise by text or not.
Positive experience: Somehow brought my cat back from the brink of death for which I am eternally grateful. Given 4 stars due to the vet initially wanting to put her down and not give her a chance but once discussed and treatment started I am so happy to have been given some more time with her. Also maybe a little expensive compared to some other vets but yet fitted her in as an emergency despite not being my regular vet and so again you have my gratitude. Some may not like it but in my case (being autistic), I very much appreciated the frank and honest nature of the vet. Yes it's upsetting to hear she may not live a hugely long life but I'd rather know upfront and be told straight. Thanks from me and Pan Edited to add that she's still here and going strong 4 years later!
Glad Pan is well. In situations where an animal is very ill, we have to offer euthanasia as an option, but we're happy that Pan has made an unexpected improvement. Our prices are actually a lot lower than most other vets as we are independent. The corporate practices have a pyramid structure and have their prices set by the top.
Fantastic experience: This is a small very friendly Veterinary Centre the staff are really caring not only for the Animals they look after but also for the owners of Animals under their care
Fantastic experience: Thank you so much to Liz the receptionist! A MAJOR thank you to the beautiful soul, Rebecca! She saved our rabbits life with simply chipping his spurs! We thought after going prev 2 vets we would have to put him down, Rebecca with her experience, just simply chipped his spurs, a gave him a lovely feed which he needed! So a MASSIVE thank you for saving our family rabbit! We will be back for the up keep appointments! Amazing!! So grateful!
Fantastic experience: They provide a very friendly, professional and efficient service, that's my cat's opinion.
Fantastic experience: Nice and clean. Friendly staff. Not sure if there's a ramp for wheelchair or pushchair access but other than that no issues with the service.
Negative experience: I don’t appreciate how I have just been treated by the vet. My dog was not even given a love and greeted, I was told to put her on the table. Then she had the cheek to say my dog is an XL bully , why is this even a judgement that is anything to do with you , I have asked for treatment ,not for my dog to be judged. The vet proceeded to touch my dogs ears straight away, which was a shock to her so she went to turn her head quick, then she shoved a mussel on her which literally traumatized her Acting like she was vicious , my dog was in pain and needed care and attention not to be treated the way she did I feel your in the wrong profession and that you need to think how your treating people. Sent from my iPhone
We strongly disagree with your review and advise that if you have a complaint, you contact the practice in the first instance.
Fantastic experience: Lovely Vets. I'd been there in May 2023 with my sick elderly Cat. She had to be put to sleep and the Vet was really compassionate and patient, didn't rush us as we said our goodbyes. Recently they looked after my three Kittens when they were neutered. Put my mind at rest about any concerns I may have had. They were back to smashing the house up the very next day so all was good!
Thank you, Mrs Wood.
Negative experience: Worst vet ever, Rebecca Rowe cares nothing about people's pets, 5 years later and I still cannot forgive or forget how you treated our kitten, you should be struck off.
Fantastic experience: They've looked after my dog for the last 9 years. She's had 2 operations there during that time. They're always friendly and helpful.
Thank you
Fantastic experience: I was desperate for a new dentist. You came to my aid. Thank you. Kind, gentle and reassuring. Dealt with all my registration, assessment and treatment within two days due to cancellations. I am so grateful, thank you The compulsive need to suck my tooth since last April has gone! Completely! Immediately! Simple treatment has given me my sanity back. I'm very happy. I'm starting to form new habits to help my teeth and gums, thanks again.
Hi Jeanette, glad you got your teeth sorted but unless you are of the canine persuasion, it wasn't us! We are a vet practice but probably could have done the work in the same sort of time frame and with as much care and love. Give us a call for matching gnashers for your pet.
Fantastic experience: First time I've been there.. The vets and nurses seem to be very nice
Fantastic experience: A great practice. Rebecca is a wonderful rabbit vet and so knowledgeable. It's also easy to get an appointment and the reception staff are really good.
Thank you.
Fantastic experience: After leaving my previous vets due to lack of knowledge and being unprofessional. My German shepherd puppy at 12 weeks old was severely poorly! I registered with oaks the same day I was given an appointment. The vet told me upon my arrival she read up before my puppy arrived, regarding his symptoms. I was so upset that my boy was getting worse and worse after £400 with my previous vets! Rebecca at oaks was amazing! She done her research and thoroughly checked him over! We walked away with medication for his diagnosis! I can’t thank oaks enough, the day after our visit I seen my little boy with his sparkle back! Great team! Great reception also that got me registered that day and was seen straight away! What a loving caring team you have! I’m forever thankful x I need to add also… Rebecca the vet told me to call her, even on her day off to let her know how my puppy was doing! Keep up the great work, love and support oaks, you by far are delivering the care us animal owners need
Fantastic experience: You know that feeling you get when you see an extremely competent doctor and you suddenly feel at ease? Rebecca at Oaks gave me exactly that feeling when I took my kitten in. I just knew Moose was in safe hands. I learnt lots from Rebecca and will go back here whenever necessary.
Good to see you today.
Fantastic experience: We have been with The Oaks for over 8 years with all three of our pets. We have 2 cats and a Cocker spaniel, and honestly I wouldn't trust anyone else with the care of our trio. Our cat Ginny was seriously injured years ago and they saved her life. Not only that but we had an abroad holiday at the time, and they helped us to look after her and had photos sent so we were reassured she was okay the whole time. She is now at the grumpy age of 8. Recently Rebecca has been supporting us with our cocker spaniel with an ear infections and recently being spayed. We were so anxious, but Rebecca and the team did an amazing job with a neat operation, loads of care and information and helped us to make the decision through sharing research and information that really helped us. I wouldn't trust them with anyone else and I've even recommended my family to use them too, and my sister also has her dog and cat registered with them. Niamh is now a fan of squeezy cheese! Nicki is also amazing, and between them and the whole team we know if we need any support then they are there to help.
Thank you.
Negative experience: I have been using this vets since 2020 for my rabbits. In lockdown I couldn’t find a vet to operate on my bunnies due to everywhere being busy. Rebecca agreed to neuter my two bunnies if we used them in the future. Their were some complications in the surgery but overall went alright. Unfortunately, one of my rabbits broke his leg in 2021 so we took him back to oaks and Rebecca advised we had it amputated as the option of getting it repaired somewhere else would be expensive. This is would not have been the best option for my bunny and was convenient as if I didn’t use oaks the money would go elsewhere!! Recently at a routine appointment Rebecca stated ‘we have a problem’ she started to explain a problem he had with his ear due to being a lop rabbit. She then told us the only cause of treatment would be to operate on his ear leaving him with a hole that we could later clean. She was handling him quite ruffly to the point I thought he may be injured. She had no care for my rabbit. This is a very invasive and costly procedure so we were unsure. She gave us no other options and insisted we have it done so he doesn’t get an infection. We then went to seek two second opinions in which they assured us his ear is completely healthy and the cause of him scratching was due to skin mites and simply gave us a spot on treatment. I am appalled at the way Rebecca treated my bunny and unsure what she would’ve done to him if I had gone ahead with this procedure. I am disgusted that as a pet owner I put trust in this veterinary centre and I feel violated. I will NOT be returning here and would advise you not to either for your pets welfare. This is a money driven business with no morals.
Fantastic experience: Had a great experience with Oaks. Between the vet Rebecca and the nurses, they have done everything to make sure my cat is healthy. Rebecca is very thorough, knowledgeable and explained everything clearly. The nurses are kind, and take the time to answer all your questions and worries. They clearly all put the health of your pet first. Prices very reasonable - my appointments with the nurses were even free, which shocked me because they were so thorough and helpful! Receptionists helped sort out my pet insurance and are always friendly. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
Fantastic experience: A lovely practice , clean friendly, helpful , not out to just get your money . Been with this practice for over forty years .highly recommended.
Fantastic experience: Only had a couple of visits so nothing to complain about. They've been kind and compassionate to both my elderly dog and my new kitten. Helpful and reasonably priced. A breath of fresh air after my last vet!
Fantastic experience: Really appreciated the very clear guidance that Rebecca gave us regarding our cat. We now have a clear plan of treatment due to her clarity and understanding of our situation. Thanks for your support.
Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Great service. The vet we saw was very approachable. I would recommend them.
Thank you. You saw Rebecca
Fantastic experience: We have been using the oaks veterinary Centre for years and once again have to congratulate the entire team for a job well done. They are very professional, welcoming, helpful, efficient. We genuinely cannot thank the oaks enough for everything they do. Very reasonably priced. Definitely put the animals needs first and will go above and beyond. The practice has car parking at the front and at the rear. It's easy to get to, spotlessly clean and the staff are incredible. Well done Oaks
Thank you. Wellcat have the best interests of the animals in the forefront of everything you do and it's a pleasure to work with you.
Fantastic experience: Had a great experience taking my cats in for a check up. Staff were all lovely and friendly and helpful.
Fantastic experience: Thanks Rececca and everyone, a brilliant service and nothing is too much trouble. Both of our cats are very grateful!
Thanks.
Fantastic experience: Our poorly cat had to be put to sleep recently. It was sadly unavoidable but all the staff at the Oaks treated both her and myself with nothing but kindness. Rebecca was especially helpful, always ensuring that she followed up on my messages and concerns. Her advice about treatment including how we would manage our cat's final visit was offered with clarity, consideration and sympathy.
Fantastic experience: Great vets ,professional friendly staff and animals always well cared for .would recommend
Fantastic experience: Experienced vetanary staff, can manage pet care by appointment and in emergency situations. Provides all the services needed to care for cats and dogs.
Thank you.
Fantastic experience: We moved our three pets to Oaks from another nearby veterinary clinic because we were concerned that the financial side was dictating their treatment. We are very happy with the the care that our dogs and cat are receiving at Oaks and the treatment is always realistic and appropriate. The cost of identical procedures is substantially lower at Oaks compared to where we used to take our pets and the communication is much better. Our 16-year old cat was very unwell last year and when we were taking him to Oaks we were preparing for the worst. At the examination he was diagnosed to be suffering with diabetes, but Rebecca was optimistic that we had a good chance to get him back to a healthy state. She explained clearly the process, cost and possible outcomes and this helped us to make a decision easily. We went ahead with the treatment and for the following few weeks we were in daily communication to adjust the insulin dose according to the sugar readings we were getting from a sensor Rebecca fitted on him. A year later, he is now 17 and in remission from diabetes. Other than being on a special diet he is still going strong. My wife and I, find our visits to Oaks to be pleasant experiences and we never had any issues with the service we have received there. It is a busy practice but we never feel rushed and we are always treated respectfully. I have no hesitation in recommending Oaks to anyone with a pet.
Fantastic experience: My cat is very poorly but Rebecca was very kind, patient and knowledgeable and cares about her patients. Thank you to all the team
You are very welcome.
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend using the Oaks Veterinary Centre. All of the vets and staff are lovely but Rebecca has been amazing. She has been so lovely with my kitten Loki who needed his nostrils widened and Rebecca researched the whole operation as she had not done this on a cat so small. The operation was a real success and they have supported us all the way through giving us brilliant advice on aftercare. We found Rebecca very professional and helpful. Karyn Goodwin
Thank you very much.
Negative experience: After I had raised a concern about not being informed whether my dogs had been transferred to this practice and the blaze indifferent approach by the lady at reception when I popped in I was asked to call Michelle to talk to. After two attempts where I called and asked to speak to Michelle and where I was told that she was going to call me back both times without asking for the best number to call me I was never called by any Michelle. Sorry not good. Not trusting my dogs with them.
Mr Vrysoulis, you have in fact been called by Michelle who organised sending on your history to another vet, despite the fact that we have never seen you except to abuse our receptionist. Please stop leaving blatant libellous untruths on social media.
Fantastic experience: Excellent vets, they have been so helpful and supportive. Quick service, clean facilities, quick referrals and good parking if needed
Fantastic experience: I was recommended to Rebecca at The Oaks by a nearby Rabbit Rescue centre, as we had a really poorly bun who was refusing to eat or drink for two weeks. Even though they were not taking on new patients she agreed to see us, as we had been through 4 places with absolutely no success in a diagnosis. Within a few minutes she had looked at him and diagnosed his condition as overgrown molars and dental disease. She then went on to do a conscious teeth trim and taught us how to syringe feed him if he still struggled to eat properly. I can’t thank her enough, he’s such a loving bunny he deserves the chance to live and have fun, which he seems to be doing already within a day. Thanks to the team at the Oaks
Fantastic news. Happy to help!
Negative experience: Couldn't get me in. As anew client for my pups jabs. Even tho. My man and mom have been using. The vets with Mr bates for over 30 years +
I am really sorry but due to recruitment issues in the industry and a vet leaving due to ill health, we cannot take on new clients currently. We have to prioritise the animals already registered to maintain a safe and effective service. This is a UK- wide issue and we are one of few practice who have continued to register new clients until now. 3.5 million new pet owners in the last 2 years, Brexit and covid have all taken their toll.
Negative experience: We have used Oaks for quite a few years, however a couple of times we have been recently the female veterinarian has been extremely rude and abrupt so we won’t be using them again. I am not giving them large amounts of money to be spoken to In such a way.
Positive experience: Oaks are generally very good but we were told our dog had to have a consultation before they could issue calming tablets due to fireworks. The tablets cost £11.45 for 3 tablets but then £39.95 for the consultation which lasted about 8 minutes ....is there really any need for extortionate prices ??
Dear Mr Bond, In order to prescribe medication, we have to examine and weigh the animal to ensure we are giving the correct dose and have discussed the options and possible side-effects with you. Our standard consultation, for which we allocate 15 minutes, is £39.95 and reflects our professional time, prescribing requirements and expertise. We are very competitively priced locally.
Fantastic experience: Thoroughly impressed with how caring and dedicated ALL the staff are. Thanks to Rebecca, Vicki, and all the nurses our dog is making a remarkable recovery after a nasty attack. They are truly wonderful and a credit to their profession.❤️
Glad she is doing better. She is a tough cookie.
Fantastic experience: We are very happy with the care our dog has received over the years he has been attending for his yearly Vaccinations and have always been spoken to politely by all of the staff in the practice and on the phone. We had a diagnosis made last year by them of a condition (laryngeal paralysis) that would gradually deteriorate with time and it could affect Finns ability to maintain his own airway and an acute event could happen at any time. Finn was close to collapse on a walk due to his airway disease but on this occasion he managed to keep his airway patent but I rang the Vets first thing the next morning to express my concern. The receptionist recognised the importance of a prompt review&fitted Finn in that same day. He had a thorough examination&we were advised ultimately Finn needed surgery (off site )on his larynx as his condition had deteriorated but they would like do a blood test prior to a CXR before we made arrangements for surgery at the specialist centre. Unfortunately due to Finns characteristic excitable behaviour around new people he became overly excited at the appointment for his blood test and lead to his airway obstructing due to his laryngeal paralysis. This has been something we have been aware can happen at any time due to the nature of the disease and Finns airway had already temporarily closed off whilst on a walk. Because we hadn’t yet opted for surgery Finns airway was always at risk. Finn required urgent emergency care at the Vets and the treatment Finn received was faultless. The Vets&Nurses acted quickly to preserve Finns life. The team of Vets kept us informed of what was happening at all times they were kind and caring and were very empathetic. It was a distressing time as owners but the way the Team cared for us and Finn made it much less of a stressful experience. Rebecca was incredible and we could see how experienced and professional she is and has the very best interests of the animals in her care. Rebecca was calm and clear with the options we had and supported our decision making as owners. Rebecca saved Finns life by inserting an ET to maintain his airway and drove Finn under anaesthetic with 2 Nurses to The Willows for emergency surgery on his larynx. If Rebecca and the Team hadn’t have given this life saving treatment it is certain Finn would not be alive today. Post survey Finn has been back for check ups and the team have been friendly and welcoming, giving Finn fuss and have asked how his recovery was going on the phone. They are a passionate and lovely team and we are so grateful for everything they have done for Finn.
We are so pleased Finn is doing well post-surgery. We look forward to seeing him without the emergency!
Negative experience: All started off well. I called up on the Tuesday to ask about the puppy starter pack and was advised how it works and what the cost covers. I mentioned that I think my puppy might have an ear infection and the advisor told me I would be able to call back when we’re paid and book the starter pack. I would have to pay additional charges for the medication if she needed them. I called again today to book my appointment I was told that I would have to pay a consultation fee on top of the £75 because she may not Be vaccinated. I explained I was advised we could bring her in and we could talk to the vet during the starter park about pups ears. The advisor placed me on hold and asked a Vet to come and speak to me, she was very rude and condescending and kept saying there was no way I had been advised this. I then said that’s ok thank you I’ll take my pup else where as I’ve been told different things. I suffer with anxiety so this made me wary as it’s not a good start. I was then called back a few moments after disconnecting the call to have the Vet imply I was a liar, that I had spoken to her best nurse so there is defiantly no way I would of been told this. I explained that that is fine that is how they want to be I would prefer to take my puppy else where. The vet continued to be Rude until the call ended I repeated several times I just wanted to take my business else where. It’s boarder line harassment to call a client back after being told we don’t want to do business with them anymore. When calling to say I wanted to make a complaint we was told there was no ombudsman we was told there is not one. If we wanted to raise a complaint we can email the head of service directly. I was already speaking with the head of Service and she kept repeating how I had misunderstood the situation. I feel it’s unprofessional to call clients back after terminating business and keeping complaints in your practice to make sure they can’t go any further is also wrong. They come across as a place that would like to charge what they want and how ever much they feel on the day.
Negative experience: I was recommended this practisce by a colleague a few months ago. I called the practice to register our two dogs and they told me we would be notified when the transfer is made by our previous vet. I drove to the practice yesterday to enquire about it since we had no idea whether the dogs had been registeted and a lady with tattoos on her arms was at the reception desk. I explained to her that I was looking to find out if my dogs had been registered with their practice and in a blasé way ignored my request and asked me back if I wanted to book an appointment. I asked her to listen to me and I repeated myself explaining that I was not sure if our dogs had been registered with their practice and that we had not received any confirmation. She replied in a disparaging way that this is not how they operate. I asked her to explain to me how they operate and stared back at me in bewilderment. Not a great start. Please OVC train your staff to be engaging and polite.
Dear Mr Hairbehrgr
I am sorry if you have misunderstood our registration procedure. We are unable to call each owner when a history is sent through or register you without getting the details directly from you. Our lovely and polite receptionist, Carrie was having trouble understanding your needs. Please give us a call and speak to Michelle, our Practice Manager who will be happy to try and put this right. Kind regards.
Fantastic experience: My cat has been registered here for the past 10 months and they are great here and very friendly.
Negative experience: I too can confirm and agree that Rebecca Rowes is very unprofessional and a worry to anyone who crosses her path. This person seems very angry and rude and also demanding. My Grandmother is in tears today over Rebeccas behaviour and threats. Constantly phoning my Nanna too and other family members. Its just not right. Who's welfare exactly are you worried about Rebecca as it seems you need Psychoanalysis right now!! Really wrong type of human to be dealing with!! Go elsewhere.. You have been warned!!
Negative experience: I am totally shocked with the way Rebecca has treated my mother regarding her dog. She's been abusive and threatened animal welfare if my mother does not bring her dog back after what seemed like an OK appointment yesterday with another vet. After reading all these bad reviews, we will now take Micky somewhere else. I myself spoke to Rebecca and she seemed very concerned however, she was not there yesterday and after being given antibiotics and sent home today we've had numerous calls to bring back Micky and pay yet more money for a problem that wasn't mentioned yesterday. We are not happy and believe Rebecca to be the Beverly Allit of veterinary surgeries. Stay clear people this lady is unhinged. We have found another vets and will not be bullied by anyone especially you Rebecca. You are a complete Psychopath!!
Fantastic experience: A big thank you to Vicki and all the staff. Last Monday I phoned the practice very upset with a very seriously ill dog (tic tac a jack russell) My dog was rushed in and made a priority. We were both treated with compassion, kindness and respect. Having been told to prepare for the worst, after two days of one to one treatment we started to see an improvement. And a week later after continuing treatment she is still here with me at my feet. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone. A big thank you again to you all. .
Negative experience: I can confirm that the awful reviews on here of Rebecca Rowes rudeness are very accurate. Obviously they have brilliant reviews, they have other vets. She told my partners elderly mother she had 5 minutes to decide whether to have her dogs eyes removed or her dog put to sleep. She left & sort a second opinion and the dog is alive & on medication & shall be reviewed in a month. Rebecca Rowe also called the next day unaware of the second opinion, threatening to report this elderly woman to the RSPC. I know the veterinary surgery shall give a rediculas reply & all I'll say is read the reviews & I rest my case.
Unfortunately, I am not able to give a full reply to this due to confidentiality. What I will say is that welfare concerns and neglect is not tolerated or ignored at this practice. If that mean we lose clients due to standing up for animal welfare, so be it. We give the best advice based on ophthalmic experts' opinions and stand by them.
Fantastic experience: Always great service and care from the team at Oaks. Rebecca is fantastic and extremely knowledgeable. The reception team are friendly and always willing to help. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this vets to anyone.
Fantastic experience: Staff are incredibly caring, considerate and friendly. They listen to concerns and act accordingly. My cat has been really well looked after every times she has been there. I would completely trust them.
Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Best vets in town, been there with our four lab's over the years, good advice and never been ripped off, genuinely care about animals
Fantastic experience: Excellent vet, and we've moved alot so we've been to a few. Very good and understanding with cats: very calm and confident...what more could you want really in the people looking after your 'family member' :)
Thank you.
Fantastic experience: I could not thank the oak vets enough. They played a massive part in my puppy life(Holly), I couldn't thank you guys enough. Some vets gave up on her but you guys never did. Thank you to the receptionist and all vets at the oaks Holly loved her vet visits lots of cuddles and kisses. Thank you
So sorry to hear of her loss.
Negative experience: If only they could talk! Friendly nurses at this practice but unfortunately, I only had experience with one of the vets. From the moment we first met I was not impressed with her attitude. A year on, my teenage dog now needs to see a behaviourist due to the trauma he experienced as a pup at the hands of this professional whilst I had to wait in the car park. I have moved to a different practice and the experience has been enlightening.
Dear Ms Brunsden
We are sorry that you are unhappy with our service. Your puppy experienced no trauma at our practice, only kind handling (as we love our collies) and you seemed happy enough to come back to see us for boosters this year. We informed you of the need to use a muzzle to protect ourselves in the consult room. You had already told us that your dog was nipping women without reason. We take the safety of our staff very seriously as well as the welfare of our patients and the need to give advice that might not be welcome but is necessary to help your pet. Whilst we understand that the absence of training classes during covid has had an impact on our patients, it is not acceptable for us to be injured in the line of duty. We would also advise arriving at your appointment time to avoid a wait with a nervous dog.
Fantastic experience: It deserves 5 stars I found the staff are very understanding and very helpful with your pet and they try in very way to help your pet to get better even if it comes to the sad part where nothing can be done and they are very understanding the two ladies who seen my cat were great and I said understanding and I would like to say thank you for all your help it's a pity my cat didn't cooperate once again thank you
We are so sorry for the loss of Diesel and hope to see you again under happier circumstances.
Fantastic experience: Thank you so much for sorting out Zachy's teeth so efficiently today. I can strongly recommend Rebecca to rabbit owners. It was brilliant to see a vet with so much experience and knowledge of rabbits. The treatment option offered here was much safer and cheaper than the treatment we've received at other vets. We will certainly be willing to travel from Coventry to continue treatment here.
Glad to be of help.
Negative experience: My dog had her yearly check up, the vet was rude, and made us feel awful.
Fantastic experience: Managed to get cancellation appointment on same day as telephoned. Vet confirmed suspected conjunctivitis in cats eye so wish us amateurs luck administering the prescribed eye drops! Was thorough in examination and professional in manner - always reassuring to know vet has cats of their own.
Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Oaks took care of our cocker spaniel for nearly 15 years. In particular the vet nurses / reception staff are never too busy to offer advice or just listen and when we lost our dog in September they couldn't of been kinder, even down to the card they sent us it was so appreciated and we were very touched. I have just got French Bulldog puppy and I have already been calling for advice which as usual nothing is too much trouble and will certainly only be using Oaks. As for comments on Rebecca, she is a person who says it how it is and like all of us when we know we are in the wrong (spoiling our dogs and making them fat) we don't like to hear the truth, so if that isn't for you just make an appt with another vet at the practice
Thanks, Mrs Bowen. Always happy to see you and Hudson.
Fantastic experience: Oaks Vets have looked after my two cat's since they where kittens in 2014. Now I am moving away I really want to express my gratitude having received such professional and empathic care for my pets for so many years and without fail. Most consultations were with Rebecca Rowe. She is an excellent vet. Her diligent attitude, good diagnostic skills, great cat lifestyle advice & helpful treatments have more than once cured quite mysterious illnesses of my cats over the years. Without Rebecca and her wonderful team my cats would not have had so many happy cat lives. I hope to find such good Vet Practice in my new area again.
Thank you.
Positive experience: Generally this practice is excellent - have been with them years and would have given 5 stars BUT spoilt recently when an illness that was extremely common in a particular animal at a particular age was overlooked. As owners we were actually criticised for resulting behavioural changes which made my pet hard to examine. Hardly our fault! Concerns over treatment at this time resulted in one particularly distressing conversation with a rude receptionist (they are usually lovely). Having said that, since diagnosis was confirmed resulting treatment and aftercare has been excellent. Hopefully just a blip.
Since you have previously and subsequently received a good service, we would be grateful if you would discuss this with us rather than on social media. Please contact us to discuss your concerns.
Fantastic experience: Highly professional service. The team are dedicated (& really throrough) to offering 1st class pet welfair support Extremely dog knowledgeable Simple C-19 pandemic compliant protocols inplace
Fantastic experience: Great vets, honest and upfront, compassionate when I had to make the difficult decision to let my little man go
