Negative experience: I Should of listened to everyone telling me how rude and unhelpful the staff are before I called, the lady on the support line was more helpful, so I asked about getting my dog in for vaccinations but he is dog reactive due to being nervous so could I ask for him to be brought into a side door instead of being in the main waiting room she said to me they do that yes but it still might be busy and “if he’s reactive I suggest seeing a behavioural trainer” in the most sarcastic manner, the absolute cheek of it I think she needs to go and brush up on her people skills I don’t know about anything else, I’d never recommend this place to anybody.
Fantastic experience: My puppy was given a six month free check up which was great as it put my mind at rest that she was okay and I’m looking after her properly.

Fantastic experience: Thank you for getting our sick cockapoo in even though you were fully booked. As ever the staff are so kind and caring. In my opinion, even though this vets has now changed ownership and is now part of the large veterinary group Medivet, the staff are still as wonderful as ever…professional, loving to the animals and reassuring to us fur mums and dads!!

Fantastic experience: I have been with this veterinary centre at Pype Hayes since 1981 when it was Kirby and Cook. A wonderful vet practice with fantastic staff from reception to the veterinary surgeons. I always receive excellent service and advice. If I could give them 10 stars I would for their kindness and compassion to both the animals and their human owners

Positive experience: This the vet we have used for 30 plus years. Its now owned by a large conglomorate and as has been the subject of the news recently. Even though we pay a high premuim for a consultation, even if not needed (for an ongoing condition), they charge 100% (and skmetimes a lot more) mark up on the drugs they prescribe! Compared to what you can get online (BUT ONLY WITH A PRESCRIRTION)! I'm a typical pet owner and adore my animals, but when it's the "CARERS" that are putting profit and fiscal greed before the welfare of the souls WE entrust our best friends lives to. WE SHOULD BE ABLE to TRUST their health and our fiscal welbeing too! It's JUST NIT RIGHT !!!!

Negative experience: Took my dog for a booster needle on Saturday and they tried to charge me an extra £20, when my other dog had the EXACT SAME NEEDLE two months prior. When questioned they couldn’t explain themselves. Never had a problem at the vets until it went to Medivet! I’ve emailed to complain as the £20 is sitting on my account unpaid as I refused to pay it and I’ve had no response. Absolutely scammers!
Fantastic experience: Lizzie the vet trimmed our very nervous frenchie and was absolutely brilliant with him. We will definitely be booking him back in with her. Her poor assistant who had to hold our dog was fantastic too but unfortunately I can't remember her name. Great service

Fantastic experience: we have been taking all our pets to these wonderful people for many years .Loki has very bad anxiety ,They are absolutely fantastic with there care and communication to us. I am a right pain i cry and I'm scared for his anxiety's he's never with out us except in there care the staff are always the same staff happy staff don't need replacing that's a big thing for me he's familiar with his vet family with his care . I can not express enough how much they care for him .Nothing is to much if you need them there there for advice and after care They have made him so well having his teeth out I've never seen him so calm and eating so well its beyond us Thank you all so very much for all you do for us and Loki .I'm not 1 for reviews but you deserve 1 Diana and Stewart and Loki .
Fantastic experience: Lexi needed a health check so I could get another prescription for her heart tablets. Reception staff always friendly and helpful and the Vet was lovely, she took the time to talk to Lexi and reassure her, although Lexi was much happier once we left.
Negative experience: New foreign vet, she is not suitable to be a vet if she cannot explain accurately and with compassion what is wrong with the animal. Asked for a second opinion from the lovely Charlotte and she was wonderful. I will not be accepting an appointment with this new vet, no bed side manner, no politeness and simply vile

Fantastic experience: First time in around 5 years our dog has had to visit. It was very busy and our appointment was late, but we don't mind, as it means all the animals getting good care/service. I'd rather that than it be rushed. Reception staff always pleasant. We were seen by Antonio, who treated our old dog very well
Negative experience: I’ve been bringing my dogs to Pype Hayes Vets for over 15 years and even continued after moving to Shropshire, as it’s incredibly difficult to find a veterinary practice you feel completely confident in. Sadly, since the transition to Medivet, that trust has been eroded. I’m no longer able to see the vet I know and feel comfortable with, prices have increased significantly, and I was surprised to find that even post-surgery aftercare, which was previously included, is now charged separately. It’s very disappointing to see a once compassionate and client-focused practice now feel more like a business driven by profit than by the wellbeing of its patients.
Fantastic experience: I had taken my cat Lucy here, she was having trouble swallowing and had a suspected tumor, after tests she did have quite a bad inoperable tumor the next day we took Lucy to be put to sleep as she was struggling to breath, I can't thank the vets and staff enough for how caring they were it is a lovely vets, they really care for the animals Thank you for taking such good care of her

Fantastic experience: Charlie our 4 year old sausage dog had his annual check up at Pype Hayes and he was looked after really well and we were all made to feel very comfortable. We always use this vets and wouldn't go anywhere else.

Had to make the appointment online but wasn’t able to match details with the fact that my cat is already registered at the practice.

Negative experience: Heartbroken . Just had to say goodbye to our big dopey teddy bear of a dog at the emergency Willow vets in Solihull . Pype Hayes vets are bloody disgusting!!!! Last 3 weeks we've been taking him there after him having a bland diet of boiled chicken for 5 days didn't sort his bad tummy (constant diarrhea with mucus) and not getting better. First week they gave antibiotics, (his temp was a bit high), they didn't work. 2nd week took him back..they gave omeprazole antacids and a stool sample bottle incase they didn't work. They didn't!... Took stool sample in last Wednesday (£229.15!! And not heard anything back as of this posting). 2 days later on the Friday morning at 10.30 am I rung them and said we need to book him for a scan as he's deteriorating badly, i was really worried. He was looking quite thin at this stage, drooling and panting, hackles all up along back indicating he was in pain and still having very bad diarrhea. I was really worried. Stool test wasn't back..I was told to take him in before 11 they said if I thought it was urgent. It wasn't possible as husband works 2 hours away and i don't drive so asked if he could be booked in for a scan (he's a very big dog and taxis don't like taking dogs full stop). They don't book for scans they said, but bring him in for a full health check on the evening and if needs be will direct to out of hours for a scan.. Friday evening appointment they checked heart and temp ( temp still a bit high again they said... but she said probably from being in the car and waiting room) and just gave painkillers and MORE ANTACIDS . Next day..late Saturday night he was restless, didn't want to lie down. Drooling even more but eventually he went to sleep. Sunday morning he started vomiting bright yellow bile. Had to rush him to the emergency Willow vets in Solihull. He collapsed when we got him out of the car and again in the waiting room. They weighed him (he'd lost 4 kg's in 3 weeks) and temperature of 42!! Dehydrated and critical. They rushed him straight in for IV fluids and gave him a scan straight away. He'd got fluid round his heart!!!! They drained the fluid (700 ml), managed to drop temp slightly to 40 but heart rate high . Said he was critical, would do CT scan for imaging see what's going on. Had to pay 3k out of the 6k minimum quote before leaving him there. Said to keep phone near as touch and go. But i had a bit of hope when i hadn't had a call by midnight...our brave boy a strong fighter. He was only 4...strong young boy .. Then the phone rings at 01.14. He's in bad way. Vomiting blood and bloody diarrhea and blood pressure dropping. Drove up there straight away...oh God, our poor boy . Can see blood in his drainage bag, he's not responsive, and nurse said he could likely deteriorate and go into cardiac arrest at any time . So we had to do the right thing...no way were we leaving our boy on his own for that to happen. We had to make the call . Our sweet sweet dopey boy. Pype Hayes vets should be ashamed!!!!!. After being with them for 30 years and lining their pockets with thousands of pounds we will NEVER EVER EVER take another pet of ours there!!! They just don't care anymore. It's just about the money since Medivet took over.!! Our sweet boy shouldn't have gone this way . If only they'd listened and just done all the tests needed. They didn't even take bloods! If you've got a poorly pet that needs a scan after 11am....good luck. Disgusting practice that has well & truly gone to the pits! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! ****UPDATE**** Willows tested the fluid that was around his heart and it contained BACTERIA! From an infection elsewhere...where bacteria had penetrated possibly due to a sharp object piercing the intestine or esophagus. 4 weeks of diarrhea and all Pype Hayes did was prescribe painkillers and antacids after 1 week of antibiotics didnt work!!! BLOOD MONEY!!!!!!!
Positive experience: Reception is too small for the amount of people in and out. On arrival there was already someone with a large dog waiting to check in, one of my 2 dogs is very nervous of the vets so being trapped in the small space was not helping & my dog was trying to get back out the door, one of the girls was on the phone and looked at us to acknowledge us, the other receptionist was looking at her screen & did not even lift her head to acknowledge us, we were there a few minutes when someone came out from one of the rooms with a cat in a basket & also wanted to go to reception making an already tight space smaller, making just checking in very frustrating. The nurse was very good, she could tell that my dog was very nervous & calmed her down so she was able to check her over.

Negative experience: Update to my previous positive review. This practice used to be really well rated, had an excellent reputation in the local area, and was regularly recommended by myself to others. I'd heard bad things since it was taken over by Medivet but finally got to see it for myself a couple of months ago when my elderly cat needed to be put to sleep. From the initial phone call we were made to feel like we were being a nuisance by calling up and asking for an emergency appointment for euthanasia. When we arrived we were kept waiting a long time at reception. We were not shown straight into a consultation room as has previously happened when I have taken a pet in to say goodbye, we were made to wait surrounded by other animals including barking dogs in the waiting area. Pretty sure they used to have a candle they lit on the reception desk when someone was saying goodbye to their pet, just to let others know to be respectful, this would have cost literal pennies - but this has apparently been sacrificed on the altar of the bottom line. They also had chocolates for dogs who were passing, these have gone too. The actual vet was great, very compassionate. The procedure was completed sensitively and with kindness. On leaving we again had to wait some time at reception to pay, this was really awkward stood there with our empty cat box. Previously payment has been taken either beforehand, or in the consulting room in these circumstances. As a final slap in the face, the prices have gone through the roof and then some since I last had to have a pet put to sleep. There is no way we will use this practice again if/when we get another pet.

Negative experience: Have been using this practice for a few years with my 2 small dogs.I used to see Steven Pegg until his retirement. Have seen a few of the other vets Emily amazing caring vet, charlotte very caring. Made a phone call to see Emily but she was fully booked so.I had.to see this other vet namely Dr Dorothy Bayer or something.like that. My poor little Milly was extremely poorly. She was.a rescue from Many Tears and I was led to believe she had been used for.breeding and.was in a neglected state. We loved her and.gave her the best of everything This so.called 'vet'disgusted me. She had no empathy at all Very rough with her when doing her temperature,messed around whilst attempting to do an ultra sound. The gel bottle was.leaking and pouring all over Millie so she was soaking wet. She said she had to go to the Willows overnight I refused and said I was taking her home. Her parting words were 'bare in mind she might die' This woman is an absolute disgrace to the industry. I took her back the next day to see Charlotte who had to put her to sleep which was very peaceful. Thank you Charlotte for helping her. .

Fantastic experience: Had to take our dog due to him injuring himself jumping up the garden gate. We got an appointment with no problem and the vet, Emily, was excellent. He is now recovering and following Emily's advice.

They even spotted and treated a fairly hard to diagnose illness in her impressively a few years ago. Their service is always efficient, compassionate and informative. Would recommend.

Fantastic experience: I can’t praise Pype Hayes Vets enough, the staff on the counter are friendly and welcoming and the very that saw Lucky (my 13 1/2) year old dog) was lovely with her. Very gentle and patient, my poor fur baby has cancer so is tender in places but wasn’t fazed in the appointment at all. Negative experience: This week we took our dog into the surgery because she was refusing to eat and she was lethargic, we were prescribed antibiotics and anti inflammatory/painkiller for what was thought to be a UTI, both needed to be administered with food so injections were given and we were told to bring her back the next day, again she was given the injections because she was still refusing to eat, along with what I believe was a steroid injection to give her an appetite, which it didn’t, we were then told she would need an ultrasound on her abdomen to see what was going on, it came back with nothing! They told us to bring her back next day to see how she was doing, check her temperature and for maybe another dose of what had already been prescribed, when I asked the receptionist if the nurse could administer it to save us another consultancy fee she told me we had to see the doctor because the nurse couldn’t prescribe? So after £860.00 and 3 visits to this shambles of a vets our dog is still not eating, we didn’t return for the 4th appointment in 4 days because frankly we didn’t want to give them any more money We have paid for medication for her which needs to be given orally and with food, but we can’t administer this because she won’t eat, they could’ve given her the injections to last a week or two but chose to give them daily? Obviously daily makes more money out of us We have 7 pets and have used this place for many years, Medivet don’t care about your animals, they’re just greedy As for the place itself, it’s grubby and unkempt, looks like they’re saving money on a cleaner

Fantastic experience: Recently I received the offer of a free checkup for my dog Ben if I was worried about any new lumps or swellings. Over the last few months I have noticed a small lump on the top of his head and felt it prudent to get it checked out. The vet, Karina, was very attentive and gave Ben a thorough examination including listening to his heart (he has a diagnosed heart murmur Grade 4). The lump turned out to be a small harmless cyst, so no intervention necessary. I was pleased with this but was surprised when Karina went on to recommend additional medication for his heart. This, in my opinion, went above and beyond what I was expecting! Everyone at the practice were delightful, professional staff with the personal touch. Great!

Fantastic experience: They're always very careful with my cat LE: Karina is an absolute amazing vet. While being cussed out by my cat for some blood tests, she noticed her thyroid is quite big. So she tested the blood for thyroid hormones too. Turns out, my cat has hyperthyroidism. Immediately after the results came back, Karina gave her treatment with specific instructions. Several weeks later, my cat is peaceful, doesn't meow the house down anymore, all her digestive issues are sorted and, based on the amount of hairballs, she's grooming herself properly again. Many thanks for the wonderful treatment given to Hazel!

Negative experience: Told me my dog had a uti as she was bleeding instead of wee coming out, gave me tablets for her however I didn’t trust what they said! Got her checked else where turns out she had internal bleeding and now she died 2 days later!!! Do not trust these vets, rushed me out and tried telling me she will be fine

Positive experience: I have been taking my dog and 2 rabbits here for the past year. I have never struggled for appointments and the service has been good. The only issue I would say is with getting a parking space. The parking lot is very small.

Fantastic experience: Excellent and friendly veterinary care for my pets, every time.
Positive experience: I was recently disappointed when I phoned to make an appointment to have my dogs teeth seen too. I explained that I was concerned about her. The recetionist said the only appointment she could give me was in 3 weeks time and said they were busy with lots of dogs needing attention. I needed my dog seen to sooner than that so phoned another recommended local vets who gave me an appointment in two days and another to deal with her teeth two days after that. I had excellent personal attention so will be staying with my new vets.

Positive experience: Used to be excellent.Appointments could be made on line with a specific vet so as to keep continuity of treatment. On line appointments are available but you don’t know who with.Since it’s no longer a ‘family’ practice prices have increased and there seems to be a shortage of vets. I was unable to make an appointment for my dog so phoned another practice who saw her that day so I transferred. Parking is still a problem.

Fantastic experience: My dogs have been cared for by Pipe Hayes vets since I moved here in 2013 I was recommended by someone in the Breed who lives in Derby but has heard how good the practice is! It has met with my expectations. Stephen Pegg has been wonderful.

Fantastic experience: I have been with this vet for over ten years and they have always been so helpful and supportive with my cats. Recently my small cat was very unwell and the vet Emily could have not done more for her, and me. Only complaint would be the prices but I think it's the same everywhere at the moment

Negative experience: This used to be very good and I have gone there for years. Since taken over by Medivet the service has gone down and they seem interested in getting as much money as they can. 2 stars as a lot of the staff remains and tries their best. I had a £20 a month plan for meds but due to a “lack of vets” the appointment for boosters are weeks away. Well I have chosen to go away to another vet where my dog will be cared for. I would no longer recommend this vet to anyone

Fantastic experience: Appointment for annual checkup & jabs went well for my little daisy. Shannon was brilliant with her, as daisy was nervous, very gentle & caring & helped with all my questions etc too. Thank you so much to all the staff at Pype Hayes medivets :)

Negative experience: medivet takeover is a significantly worse service, at a higher price - constant efforts to upsell and they tried to Charge same price to clean teeth while already under Anaestethic so charged twice which was screwing over the insurance company for 2 anaesthetics

Fantastic experience: We always see either Louise or Stephen at Pype Hayes vets, they know our dog is nervous so always take extra time to fuss him and settle him, they also carry out any treatment quickly and efficiently. Thanks you guys.

Fantastic experience: First time visiting Pype Hayes veterinary clinic and was so pleased to get an appointment on the same day i phoned unlike my previous vet's. All the staff from reception to the Vet that dealt with my dog was very kind and professional. With the Vet checking him over and making a fuss of him also putting my mind at ease with a prescription to help with any pain he may have due to dew claw damage.
