Fantastic experience: I have been taking my dogs here since 2014. It feels such a welcoming place as soon as you walk in and the care and compassion for both pets and humans is there every visit ❤️ Recently my dog has been diagnosed with diabetes and is under the care of Meg , from the start everything was explained so clearly , the support has been truly amazing and I am forever grateful ! Thank you Meg and Thank you to all at Pet Vet for your dedication Just a couple of recommendations if anyone is interested If anyone has a pet who is diagnosed with diabetes I highly recommend the CGM monitoring system. This was explained to me by Meg, this saved the trauma for my dog having to stay in for hourly blood checks until the right level of insulin was worked out . The monitor that my dog wears gives Meg and the team direct up to date readings so they are able to see if insulin needs to be adjusted . I'm just learning about diabetes with dogs but the support has been 2nd to none. I am now using the vetpen to administer insulin, another great invention . I find it much easier than using a syringe each time. If any one is going though the same with their pet child there are lots of helpful videos on YouTube as well as advice from the vets.

Fantastic experience: My neighbours dog needed her teeth cleaning, her vets advised it would be at least £1000.00, minimum!!! OUCH! We made some calls and someone suggested The Pet Vet. We made an appointment for them to have them checked. Well after they told us how much is would cost, around £500.00 we had her teeth cleaned, along with 1 removed. They kept us informed by phone throughout the day what was happening. Had to pop back today so they could check on her and give her some medication. 1st consultation free! Operation £487.12! Consultation and medication today £0.00 The staff are super friendly. The Vets are lovely the Practice is very clean and welcoming. Plenty of free parking. Free WiFi, free refreshments and accessible toilet. First impressions of the Practice and Staff is amazing. Very friendly and welcoming Staff and place. Will be recommending them to everyone I know with pets.

Fantastic experience: We followed our vet Amelia when she moved to the pet vet and we are so happy we did. Amela is a fantastic vet and we are always at ease when our dogs are in her care. We always get to see Amelia where possible and the reception team are always so helpful and attentive when we attend the practice. They are always willing to answer any questions we have and nothing is too much trouble. Bridey especially has been fantastic to us and always puts us at ease whenever our pups have had to come in for treatment.

Fantastic experience: We came to the surgery on Monday 11th November and sadly had to say goodbye to our lovely cat, Bella. Obviously it was a very difficult time for us but I wanted to get in touch to say how lovely the nurse, Sophie, was. She was so kind, gentle and caring and made a very sad time easier for us. She truly is a blessing to your clinic. A big thank you to her for being so patient and understanding - she took the time to Explain each procedure and was so gentle when handling Bella to ensure everything was as pain free and peaceful as possible.

Fantastic experience: Made appointment by phone for pm next day to have dogs claws cut & pick up meds for worming & flea treatment. Got there was quickly taken in to cut claws & as soon as done meds provided & left. Staff were very friendly & helpful throughout our visit.

Fantastic experience: I brought my dog Maple in for her annual check-up and vaccines, and I’m so grateful for the excellent care we received. The vet, Angel, took the time to greet Maple before the appointment, and throughout the visit he was patient, informative, caring, and very knowledgeable. Maple had a difficult experience at a previous vet, but today’s visit has completely restored my confidence. Angel truly made a difference, and if there’s an employee recognition scheme, I’d absolutely recommend him for it.

Negative experience: Would not recommend. We were running a few minutes late for our appointment due to road closures and bad traffic, we contacted reception to advise of this (this was after trying to get through on the phone for 8 minutes with no answer) and were told the vet said it would be fine and to continue our journey in. However once we arrived (within 5 minutes of calling) we were turned away and told the vet said we were too late. This is unacceptable and unprofessional if you ask me. The surgery wasn’t busy, the vet was simply sat behind the door of the front desk and had time to answer a question we had but simply refused to see our pet. So our poor Guinea pig suffered a stressful journey only to be told no after being told we would still be able to have our appointment. We have since changed to Highcroft vets and would advise anyone thinking of using this vets to think again. They were also going to charge us for this “missed appointment”. I’d also like to point out other times when we have been waiting for our appointment for over an hour on several occasions, but they can’t wait for us. Not good enough, if they cared about the welfare of animals they wouldn’t have turned us away. AVOID.

Fantastic experience: I always receive a great service for my dogs. The staff are welcoming and the practitioners are very knowledgeable and take great care of my dogs during their visits. I am particularly happy about my recent visit which involved an operation as my dog is recovering well and she was handled with such great care and attention after being hit by a car.

Fantastic experience: Firstly, the staff here at The Pet Vet are always friendly and welcoming and always make Jack feel welcome and todays visit was the first time taking him for his nails doing here today here as and they were amazing for him. Negative experience: I’m heartbroken and disappointed with how this practice has treated me and my dog, who has been registered here since she was a puppy. In 2022, she contracted parvovirus and I did everything I could to save her—spending all my savings, borrowing from family, and paying thousands to both this vet and the emergency night service. I asked if I could set up a payment plan for the remainder of the bill, but they refused and sent the balance to debt collection. Now that I'm in a better financial position and my dog is insured, I called for advice—only to be told they will no longer treat her at all, simply because of that past situation. I understand that practices must protect themselves from non-payment, but I never avoided responsibility. I was simply overwhelmed during a crisis. It's upsetting that a vet claiming to care about animals would turn us away like this. Very disappointed and saddened that my loyal dog now has to find a new vet because of how this was handled

Fantastic experience: We’ve been bringing our cats here for 11 years now. One of them has needed quite a few interventionsdue to a kidney issue. They were always brilliant, we felt they cared and were great with regard to how close to the max on our insurance. We would definitely recommend The Pet Vet and the staff there too.

Fantastic experience: I switched from another practice and so glad I did. Teddy has had nothing but loving, caring treatment from fantastic staff. He sees the same vet, Amelia each time whenever possible because I want continuity of care for him. Everyone is friendly and incredibly helpful though so I know he is always in good hands. Negative experience: Sadly our experience wasn’t the best! The lady who booked the appointment was lovely very friendly and I’m guessing that’s who welcomed us in offered us a drink I couldn’t fault her friendliness and very professional also a young nurse was very pleasant too, we had a 20 min wait for vet (not a problem at all) but the vet called us in and from about 5 feet he said he could see the problem with our dog he then sat at his pc yawned about Three times didn’t once look at my dog or speak to him or touch him. Then I left with a full lot of one tablets and 4 out of 18 of the other he said is that ok I said I guess it has to be! having to go back which is fine but he asked to see us 3 days later when my dog would have only taken 1 days worth of one tablet I paid £145 I’m guessing a good portion was consult fees, I’d shaved my dogs face the day before I wish I hadn’t I wonder if the vet would have? Or may have actually touched him I understand some vets do long hours but the place was lovely and cool so shouldn’t be yawning I’d have said sorry about that. I never complain but I felt the service of this vet wasn’t very good
Fantastic experience: What a difference a year makes. We had some issues with the previous franchise but wow how they have changed. The New Vet Will was so attentive and described exactly what was needed to resolve the issue with our spaniel belle. We weee quoted £270 and agreed to the procedure. To the great credit to him and the nurses they avoided sedation and removed the grass seed at the fraction of the cost. We are so grateful for the service provided today and wish Will and the business all the success in the future The Beakes and Belle the dog

Fantastic experience: I recently visited The Pet at Bristol as my cat, Molly was in desperate need of a nail clip. Like many Molly hates the vet for any reason and, whilst not as bad as some I’ve seen on Facebook , makes her displeasure known !! Feisty little thing!! On previous visits I’ve been told it’s a hopeless case, to take her home and come back but this time the nurse was literally amazing. I held Molly but the nurse was calm, methodical and efficient, totally not phased by claws waving, hissing or wriggling !! Job done and done well. She spoke to Molly constantly reassuring her as best possible and did an amazing job. I know it’s not surgery but a nail clip is stressful for me and Molly alike - me cos I’m embarrassed and hate to see her scared and Molly just because. It honestly was a great experience. I walk with a stick and have bad vision, the nurse even offered to carry the carrier. Truly can’t thank her enough for all

Fantastic experience: Recent visit for my Romanian Rescue. Annual vaccinations were due. He is extremely anxious. The vet we saw was amazing, understood how to handle him without having to muzzle. Vaccines in before he noticed. A really positive visit that I can build on. Thankyou !

Fantastic experience: I needed a vet appointment with my pomeranian due to a sudden skin issue. So I called the Pet Vet bristol as I've used them for my two previous pets, last used around 5 years ago. The reception staff were very helpful, friendly and found me a convenient same day appointment! The initial call left me confident that I'd made the right call! On visiting the practice, I was greeted by a friendly staff member who checked my pets details, and helped with my enquiry of a pet health plan, I had one with each of my previous pets and found it to be good value! The vet was great! Gave my pom a through examination, gave me some good advice and explained the medication and when to administer it, then answered my questions. What started out as stressful day of unknown questions, became streamlined and stress free and positive. Based on today's experience, I would recommend the Pet Vet Bristol to anyone!

Fantastic experience: We've just unfortunately had to have our pet rat put to sleep. The vet, Jamie, was absolutely fantastic. So kind and caring and didn't rush us. Did everything he could to make it peaceful and painless for him. Treated us with compassion even for a small animal. Absolutely brilliant. Made a sad experience just a little bit better.

Fantastic experience: If excellent care for your pets at low prices are what you want , then this is the vets to use in south Bristol. Also there is ample free parking. At last visit the wait was a lot longer than the website suggests.also the parking has become more difficult with the changing of two spaces to disabled, which do not seem to be needed as they were not used at all.Perhaps one is enough?The attention to the pets has not changed though, still excellent.

Fantastic experience: I have used this vet many times for my pomeranian, they are very efficient, friendly and excellent prices. Sadly I do not drive now so have to use my local one in Henleaze who charge 3-4 times the price. I miss this so much. They are in Roman way,near Hartcliff Bristol.

Positive experience: I have been really happy with the care of my two cats. I have been using The Vet for 20 years. It saddens me however to share I’m unhappy with the prices which recently seem to be inconsistent and plucked out of the air. This adds an extra layer of stress to each vet visit.

Negative experience: I will not be going back here the level of service and competency from the staff is an embarrassment. I took my pet to get checked out due to having a lump that looked sore and we checked in at our appointment time. There was only one vet working to the ratio of 4 receptionists (who were just wandering around bored and doing nothing which is extremely unprofessional). We were half an hour late to be called in considering there was no one around and only one other lady in the waiting room, no one had left the room with the vet. Just before we got called in the lady next to us had a dog, who had an accident on the floor - which happens all the time as it’s a vet. The lady was looking round for some help and something to clean it with, and the receptionists just sort of looked at her. Then one of them decided to do something and gave her 2 pieces of blue roll which obviously wasn’t going to cut it, so the poor lady must be feeling embarrassed already had to attempt to clean it up with not enough supplies. She did her best however, she couldn’t get it all and it needed to be disenfected. When we then left the vets room after our appointment (bear in mind this read around 30 minuites, there were no other people waiting) the poor lady was still sat there, and none of the staff had bothered to help her and get her some more supplies and disenfect it, which means that the place is 100% not clean at all and is classes as a biohazard. Also they ran out of some medication for my pet (which is fine it happens), so the receptionist was told I would be called next morning to come and collect it, as my pet had already received the first dose therefore they needed it urgently, before 2pm. I phone up at 12pm and asked what was happening, and the lady I spoke to said ‘well we haven’t got round to checking it yet, it will take 24-48hours’. There was already a note on there to state I needed it urgently, which I re-explained to her. She then said ‘well I guess I could check it now’, which is extremely unprofessional, and it should have been done already anyway. Plus considering how many staff they had there the day before - it makes it seem like they can’t be bothered to do anything. Finally when we were in the room with the vet, the table where you can put your pets was absolutely covered in hair already, which suggests that it hasn’t been thoroughly cleaned between each appointment and therefore aids in the spread of diseases. This practice should be closed due to its hygiene standards. Or at least hire some competent staff. Will not be returning, looking at the state of the place, did not feel welcomed and to watch that poor lady struggle with plenty of staff around to help, is disgusting. We tried to help her, however the staff just did not give her enough supplies or even offer to help

Negative experience: TERRIBLE practice. Had a petplan for 8 years. Cancelled it as really wasnt getting my monies worth. Now telling me i owe £98 no reason for this -- demanding payment straight away or debt agency will be involved. I rang up to find out whats going on - bearing in mind the plan was cancelled 5 months ago. They say its for treatment i had -- my pet had only ever had vaccinations. Bridey rang me -- apologetic said it was wrong i now only owe £58 - i queried this again. Promised a call back. Received nothing but a letter saying that i will be sent to debt agency. Had to contact again saying im waiting for a reply from Bridey. Apparently that letter demanding money is the response. terrible practice -- i would never use. They only care about £££££ not the animals

Negative experience: Would never use again. After being with them for 8 years. Dog needed an emergency operation there charges were extortionate. Another vet did the op and I had to cancel direct debit gor payment plan as couldnt afford that month. Other companies were great, letting me make up the payment later on in the month. This one wasn't. Thet Cancelled the policy as didn't pay within 7 days. THEN i get a threatening emails 6 months after they cancelled the policy demanding i pay £99 in charges for medication the previous year! Disgusting behaviour. All treatment is 30% dearer than other vets and zero help or compassion just threatening behaviour. If you go down you can see other dissatisfied customers saying the same thing! All they care about is money. Zero compassion for your pet and zero customer service. Take 6 months to threatening you demanding payment straight away or debt action. I have a legal meeting booked. DO NOT USE

Fantastic experience: The staff at the Pet Vet are always so welcoming and caring, they remember us each time we visit which adds to a personalised experience. This all contributes to our positive feelings towards the surgery and would highly recommend them. We’ve had to visit a few times more than we would have liked to since we got our kittens Autumn and Marmite and each visit has been stress- free and enjoyable. Each nurse that we have seen has taken time to listen to our questions and answer them thoroughly and great attention to detail is taken when examining or treating our little babies. There is ample parking and the waiting room is always clean and quiet. We are always seen promptly and are never kept waiting. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: My pup recently had to have an operation to remove part of his bone in his leg. Negative experience: It's with a heavy heart I leave this review. We were customers with 3 dogs for over 10 years. Last year we left the practice after an ongoing medical condition with our Shih Zhu which we paid over £3,000 with no advice or resolution. This was after categorically stating we would not admit her without a treatment plan, we were assured we would be given advice and an ongoing solution. On collection we were rushed out the door and advised to feed her chicken which we had told 3 different vets already she was allergic to. Within a week of seeing a new vet a dietary and medication plan was put in place and we resolved the issue. No further test, admission and time/money wasting. Then this week I get a letter to confirm I owe a balance on a pet plan feels cancelled 16 months ago. It confirmed if I didn't pay within 21 days I would incurr further charges. They had over a year to notify me and I had 21 days to respond. As someone who has a career in financial service this could have impacted my job had I not read the letter in time. I would never recommend it return to the vets. I always felt like the goal was to maximise income and was not focused on the care of my pets.

Fantastic experience: I recently visited the pet vets with my very elderly dog, who was 19 years old & sadly she was very poorly & we decided due to her deteriorating health to have her put to sleep. We didn’t have a choice & it broke me as an owner who had to make this decision. But she was holding on & it wasn’t fair on her. From the first phone call to make the appointment we was treated with dignity & respect, when we arrived at the pet vets practice we was immediately taken to a room set a side for end of life care of our animals/dog, which we found comforting. In the room was a sofa to sit & cuddle with our dog, on the vets table was a beautiful blue blanket, the room was set up nice & there was leaflets on guidance of cremation or choices you could make to have the best ending to your animals life. The vet gave us plenty of time with our dog & then she checked her health once before again before she talked us through what happens about to happen & how it happens & how long it takes etc. at this time I fell to pieces not wanting to lose my baby girl Kiara & I know it must of been hard for the vet herself again she gave us time to grieve. The vet left the room many times & came back to help with the transition of us loosing our dog & our dog passing away without pain, fear or suffering. Again we cried with the loss of our dog & the vet & staff who helped with our dog gave us time, dignity & respect throughout the whole process of it all. I have never been so relieved to have a room to go to grieve & spend time with my dog to say goodbye. The vets & room to have this space & time was magnificent & improved our way of saying goodbye before we had her cremated. The staff were marvellous & I can’t Thank them enough for their support and kindness at such a difficult time. Thank you from myself & Kiara my dog.

Fantastic experience: Came in with my dog for a check as I found a small lump. The vet Amelia was really good with him as he is a bouncy shepherd. The reception team and nurses that I met all fussed over him. Had my mind put to rest that the lump is nothing to worry about. Would recommend this vets will be coming back for his routine care!

Negative experience: Did not have a great experience with this vet. This is not regarding reception staff or all vets but the over all experience was exhausting, disorganised and misleading. The consistency of care and transfer between staff was not good at all. My partner was left in a room for over 40 mins with a cat that was virtually on deaths door with no communication from staff or any idea of what was going on, after we were told the previous evening to bring him back first thing to have fluids, to then turn up and be told that that’s not something they have and in my opinion escalated our cats decline. Hours wasted waiting for something they simply did not have, when we could have been somewhere that did. Having a pet that is sick is an emotional ride as it is, but to then be sent back and forth, seeing a different vet each time with a very different idea of what’s going on with zero consistency- it really exacerbated the stress and worry and making the whole ordeal that much harder. On a more positive note I will say that the reception team at the time were exceptional. They were approachable and empathetic and quite frankly one of the only reasons we kept coming back. A vet named Seb was also brilliant, handling what parts of the case that he did with consistent communication and options where necessary. We have now moved our cat and have been offered a consistent vet where possible and have ultimately had a better experience.

Negative experience: I would avoid this vets. I recently took my cat in for a UTI had some medicine prescribed and the vet I saw was professional and knowledgable and the customer team were great. However it wasn’t until my cat went back and needed their full care did I see the chaos and lack of care. We were quoted £1200 for Pablos care, I signed a contract saying £1200-£1500 so I knew costs could go up. When I went to pay I was told £1460, called back up and was told £1000, when I questioned this I got told the overnight wasn’t added which was around £250 and told to pay £1460 however Chelsea charged my card £1614. Not the amount that she told me she was charging. I went in the next day after a call with Bridey and spoke to Seb. He explained that the costs were higher because he didn’t save the estimate which is a reach as I reminded him I signed a paper copy of the estimate which i asked him to get me a photocopy which he did. Bridey spoke to the area manager and they refunded half of Pablos first night stay as a good will gesture. After his second night I had a call to be told he had managed to pull his catheter line out overnight between 10pm and 6am but he was doing better. I then had a phone call from Marie or Maria who is the most incompetent rude vet I’ve ever had the displeasure of speaking to. She then told me that Pablo had grit still but if I basically fed him raw steak he would be better and said she thought his PH level would be high in his pee but when she went to look for the results she couldn’t see any just that I was charged for them. I then spoke to Bridey again super helpful and had another vet call me back on his mobile. Everything he told me was contradictory to the previous call but we were told Pablo could come home. To top off everything when my partner picked Pablo up tonight the vet mentioned that his carrier was too small. He did have room in there it is his smaller spare one but my partner explained he had an accident in his normal one so we put him in that one. Pablo had an accident and pooed himself when he was at the vets on Monday and Seb assured us that his carrier would be cleaned for when he was well enough to go home. This didn’t happen. Whoever put Pablo into his carrier would have see it was covered in poo so put the liner in a bag and then still put him back into that carrier with a thin pee pad. We would have brought a clean carrier if we knew this as he has stitches and is still unwell. To put him back into that carrier in that state is disgusting. Honestly an awful experience due to the amount of unprofessional errors that accrued during everyday of his care whilst being there. I would be so cautious of extra costs and check your bank statements after being charged. I also don’t have faith that everything we were charged for was completed due to the call with the vet earlier today. The only person who I believe shouldn’t be condemned in this review is Bridey. She has a passion for customer service and a love for her job. We witnessed her every time we were in there be so helpful and warming to customers and their pets. She helped me out massively with taking over the communication for the rest of Pablos stay and was so professional along the way I just think she unfortunately works with a very incompetent team and for an awful company.

Negative experience: Benn with this practice for many years..And had a good repore with all vets.. However the past few months I feel the new wave of vets are below par..To the extent I took my dogs to a different vet practice..Last night I received txt messages at 01.30 and 00.15 informing about how bad dental hygiene could affect your dogs and to come see a vet..Bare in mind I’ve not been a member of this practice for many months now.. Takes a lot for me to leave a bad review..But this practice has gone down hill In my eyes.
Positive experience: First time I’ve been to vets Bristol since it was refurbished. It’s very lovely but feel with the reception area taken away it’s lost that personal touch.

Negative experience: I asked for Insurance claim forms for my dogs recent assessment,reviews and treatment but was given the claim form for a customer's pet cat, who had emergency treatment whilst she was on holiday. The customers name, address, telephone number and other private information was on the claim form. I won't add a photo graph for obvious reasons but will return the forms to the Vet I then need to get the correct claim form for my dogs treatment delaying my claim.

Negative experience: Amazing when my cat had her surgery but afterwards terrible. The staff like to con people. Sends dept letters even though I asked priced 4 times to make sure I was paying right price the information given on the treatment plans aswell is disappointing as was told to do plan but never told about all the extra charges before hand. I have now removed all my pets from this vet and will never go there again. I will not even send other people there.

Fantastic experience: Took my dog to the vet couple weeks ago and he sort of got pushed aside and put on antibiotics without any scans or tests being done! Took him back last night because he had gotten progressively worse and unfortunately had to be put to sleep because he had cancer of the liver that was missed the first time but last night the staff were absolutely amazing with doing paw&nose prints shaving some of his hair to keep and just being very patient with me, if there’s any advice I’d give is push for tests if you feel like you’re being pushed aside!

Fantastic experience: It was great that my dog got fitted in for an appointment at short notice for the next day And the vets staff always friendly and helpful
Positive experience: It's much better if you make an appointment before going there, otherwise you might have to wait a long time to be seen, of course there prices have gone up like everywhere else. But there's a problem with leaving an enquiry or question with the staff to pass onto someone else but I've found that this doesn't happen.

Fantastic experience: The vet was very good with my female Staffy we came in got seen straight away and was very friendly and talking about our other dogs to the vet that passed away was ever so nice when we walked in was such a warm welcome. Owner of pebbles cocking

Positive experience: The annual health check went fine - vet was very friendly and didn't try to suggest impractical things like brushing teeth twice every day. It is a nuisance though that we now cannot be given prescriptions electronically because others have tried to manipulate the system.

Fantastic experience: The best Vet! My dog loves visiting, drags us in and adores his personal vet Amelia. She’s amazing with him , they have a great bond which makes visiting easy. Amelia is also great keeping us updated and giving us options. The actual practice is also very clean and friendly.

Negative experience: Disappointing experience. Took my dog who stepped on something sharp during a walk to this vet. The vet checked him and prescribed some pain killers, after paying £133 for consultation and medicine, the vet said the medicine is out of stock and to check back the next day. I contacted them the following day only for them to tell me that the said pain medication had sold out and to check back again the next day. It was confusing because surely you would reserve something that has been paid for. I asked them for a refund and a prescription so I can get the medication elsewhere as I have a dog who needs this medicine and don’t want to wait 3 days they then immediately said they have said medication but in a larger size which I can get but need to pay more for. The decent thing to do at that point was to at least give me the medication but no they made me pay an extra £6 for a larger size of the same medication that was supposedly out of stock. Asked if I could speak with a manager and they said to send an email. Time for me to spend emailing you guys is what I have spent on this review. Terrible service, wish I had read reviews before going there. I can’t imagine how they treat people with more serious problems who go there.

Fantastic experience: Have used this vets for about a year now, we first saw the head vet and now we won’t see anyone else, our dog who is 9 suffers with anxiety after previous experiences at a different vet. Nala is more than happy to go now for her checkups and treatment with Amelia (probably because she is given treats and amelia being so calm with her ). Thanks for being so wonderful with Nala and making our vet visits less stressful

Positive experience: Very clean and tidy (newly decorated/renovated) with very nice & polite staff with bits and pieces to keep dog calm & (moderately) behaved!
