Our comment from InfoVet about Zetland Veterinary Group:
Zetland Veterinary Group is known for its dedicated and compassionate staff who provide reliable care for pets. Many clients have praised the excellent customer service and the knowledge of the veterinary team. The practice is appreciated for its emergency care and the attention given during difficult situations. Many owners have expressed gratitude for the kindness shown during times of loss.
However, some clients have reported concerns regarding communication and transparency about costs and treatments. Instances of rushed appointments and misunderstandings have also been highlighted, leading to mixed experiences in the practice.
Overall, Zetland Veterinary Group is viewed positively for its commitment to animal care, although potential clients are encouraged to discuss any specific needs, particularly for exotic pets, to ensure the best outcome.
Services
Zetland Veterinary Group: Reviews
Negative experience: Feels like a sales office with a quota to fill. Very much geared towards selling than the welfare of your animal. A very conveyor-belt clinical feel to the place that is all about cash. Unethical and it feels it. Avoid. Go to a non-corporate vet.
Fantastic experience: Great staff. Really good with our pets
Negative experience: In July 2025 we visited Zetland Vets with our rabbit who was in GI Stasis. When we got there the experiance at the vets was good and we were assured our bun could be taken home and given care at home as we had caught the GI Stasis early, cisapride suspension was administered along with pain relief at the vets so they could demonstrate how to administer this when we were at home. This was an emergency visit as it was on a Saturday as Zetland is not listed as an exotic vet but said they provide care for rabbits. Within 10 mins of getting home Stewie our rabbit passed away. This was within 30 mins of the medication being administered from the vets. It was then we noticed that the medication that had been administered was labeled out of date by 2 months. I had raised a complaint and this was investigated and I was advised even though THREE different members of staff including a receptionist, Vet and Vet nurse should have checked this label / medication there was a clerical error on their side. They have said it was just mislabled and have apologised for the mistake. However they have no valid proof they did not administer the out of date medication as they have no record for the old medications disposal. I was offered a £65 gesture of goodwill as a result to sign away liability for my pets death. I cannot express enough how much loosing our pet has impacted our lives and the lack of care shown by both Zetland Vets director saying "sometimes rabbits just pass away" over the phone, or the cold emails from their parent company. I wouldn't trust this vets to administer appropriate care for your pet, specifically exotics. I was told on that day going to Zetland Vets was the only option as other vets were closed. Currently this is still ongoing with Zetland Vets parent company, however if you have a rabbit please go and seek out a rabbit savvy vet, or at least a vet who can administer the correct, in date medication. EDIT: After not responding to this for 2 months, the evidence provided was a picture of an in date medication bottle from yourselves, as advised above it was evidence which is not sufficient. I don't feel this was investigated into properly by the THREE DIFFERENT COMPANY'S (Zetland Vets, Parent Company IVC and indemnity insurers) and I feel like the comment "some rabbits just pass away" as echoed in your post is very much avoiding responsibility for the error. I managed to get my money back through the bank after submitting evidence to them luckily so I haven't got the guilt over my head of paying for the lack of care resulting in his death. I appreciate the parent company wanted me to sign liability away for his death to compensate with £65 GOGW, but that doesn't sound quite right does it if you weren't liable? I would have honestly preferred if you hadn't bothered to reply at all at this point. Also the medication administered was meant for dogs as listed on the bottle as you didn't have any ordered in specifically for rabbits, so he had chicken flavoured meds for a herbivore in his last moments. Apologies I forgot to mention that one
We are sorry that you were unhappy with your experience during this very challenging time for you. As you are aware we have been engaging with your complaint and have provided evidence that the medication provided was in date and appropriate for their care. As experienced clinicians, we regularly treat rabbits and other exotics. Unfortunately these patients are often some of the most fragile and can become poorly very quickly. It can be very distressing to experience and we are ever so sorry for the loss of Stewie. Kind Regards, Isabelle (Clinical Director), Zetland Vets.
Fantastic experience: Great customer service
Hi Tom, Thank you so much for your 5* review! Best Wishes, The Zetland Team
Negative experience: I am sorry but i have been debating for months about leaving this review and i finally decided to do it. I brought an injured pigeon in December to the clinic in the hope he could be treated for his injury. When i arrived, the vet took him and checked for maybe 5 mins before coming back and telling me he had to be put down because of a broken wing! I am now learning that a broken wing can be treated on a pigeon and is not a death sentence. Pigeons are not pest and if your team did not want to help, you should have just gave him back to me in order for me to bring him to someone who would have cared.
Fantastic experience: Excellent service and care for the animals
Hi Claire, Thank you so much for your review, it is really appreciated and we will pass this onto the team. Kind Regards, Zetland Vets
Fantastic experience: STAFF are Professional friendly and approachable and underpaid. Thank you for taking care of my babies.
Fantastic experience: Took my two kittens to be spayed. Excellent service and care and communication both seem to be recovering well Thankyou.
Fantastic experience: Best vet I have ever used! All the staff here are so warm and kind to both our cat and two very anxious first time cat parents! The Pet Health Club is amazing value for money and the emergency services they offer bring a lot of peace of mind. 10/10, nothing but praise for these folks!!
Hi Kit, Thank you so much for your kind words and 5 stars! I've passed the message on to our team and it really means a lot! Looking forward ot seeing you and Albie again, Kind Regards, The Zetland Team
Negative experience: When you take out a pet plan , you are not told you cannot STOP the monthly payments at anytime and it can land you in serous debt and black listed . I detest these Vets Ann’s wish them bad publicity for terrible service they supply to unsuspecting customers who are unable to cancel subscriptions due to cost of living crisis
Hi Caroline, Thanks for spending the time to write a review, I am very sorry that you were unhappy with your recent experience. The details of the cancellation policy are included in our PHC Terms and Conditions which are available when signing up and also e-mailed. I am sorry if this was miscommunicated. If you would like to speak to us further about the situation then please contact us on either on 0117 944 5111 or email [email protected]. Kind Regards, Isabelle (Clinical Director)
Fantastic experience: I brought in an injured wild duck. They treated both the duck and me with the utmost compassion and respect.
Hi Elinor, Thank you so much for your review and kind words. Also thank you for all of your care in bringing the poor duck in to us. It was ever so kind and ensured that they were in the right place. Kind Regards, The Zetland Team
Positive experience: Zetland Vet Hospital team have always been very clear and considerate when explaining our options and have been very supportive through good and less good times
Hi Anthea, Thank you ever so much for those kind words and 5* review. We all enjoy seeing lovely Bella and are looking forward to your next visit!
Negative experience: Genuinely appalling service. Murdered our rabbit by giving out of date meds and won’t investigate it further. Have been belittled and treated like we aren’t important. Please go somewhere else
Hi Tom, We are sorry about your recent experience and the loss of your pet. We understand that this is a difficult time, and have been engaging with yourselves during your complaint process. During which we have provided evidence that the medication provided was in-date and appropriate treatment for the patient's symptoms. If you would like to speak further then please email [email protected]. Kind Regards, Isabelle (Clinical Director)
Fantastic experience: Hayden was so kind understanding and professional when I had to bring my cat in who’d died.. he dealt with the situation superbly .. as I was so upset and hated the thought of coming in so devastated … a credit to your practice..
Hi Geraldine, We are so sorry for the loss of your pet, our thoughts are with you. Thank you for your kind words during this difficult time. We have passed your review directly to Hayden. Kind Regards, Zetland Vets
Fantastic experience: These guys are so great. My 10 month old kitten had an accident and ended up needing surgery and Zetland have been amazing so far. I don’t have insurance and they made sure I had other cheaper options available. They’re also clearly very caring and understanding of your needs as an owner. I was in tears and a bit of a mess when I brought him in and I was instantly offered a private room while I waited to see how he was doing. 10/10 would recommend them.
Hi Amber. Thank you so much for sharing such a lovely account and also for the very sweet picture of Chilli at home! We all loved seeing him and wish him the speediest of recoveries. Kind Regards, Zetland Vets
Negative experience: Extremely disappointed at the lack of communication concerning a routine appointment for a repeat prescription that included a full clinical examination, without prior consultation, or providing confirmation of the additional cost upfront. Replacement medication was then prescribed at 2/3rds of the cost for an online purchase, again without prior notification, until the appointment had taken place. The practice is not transparent about its pricing structure until appointments have been completed and is taking advantage by making its clients feel obligated to pay at the point of departure. Furthermore, if you delay making a payment, an administration charge of £25.00 is applied and a late payment fee of 4%. Please be warned and extra vigilant about costings when booking your appointment at this practice.
Negative experience: The disappointing service once again, the nurse was to afraid to cut my kittens nails, this has not happened once but on several occasions now. When I asked to speak to a Vet on this occasion as the same nurse as refused to cut my cats nails, they further dismissed listening to me and asked me to hurry up and she was busy and rolled her eyes at me. As a paying customer I expect a better service and 100% more empathy towards my cat. We were made to feel unwelcome and honestly I do not want to return.
Positive experience: Great help in a difficult time.
Hi Cory, Thanks for your 5* review!
Fantastic experience: Really lovely staff, nurse was great with my dog in triage, vets saw him quickly ans did the best they could to treat his ear ... he's such a wriggly little boy they had to give him meds instead of aspiration. Thanks Emergency Team :))
Hello! Thank you so much for your kind words, we have passed them onto the team. We look forward to seeing you and your dog again, Best Wishes, The Zetland Team
Positive experience: The vet saw us at short notice which was great as our cat was clearly in so much pain. She saw the problem straight away and advised us accordingly. We had Pickle for 18 years and were sad to say goodbye but the vet was very professional and clearly had empathy.
Hi Kevin, Sorry for the late reply but wanted to say thank you for leaving such a kind review during such a difficult time. Your words have been passed onto the team, and are very much appreciated. Kind Regards, Zetland Vets
Fantastic experience: Always good service and they care a lot about what they do
Thanks for the great review Justin!
Take care,
Zetland vets
Fantastic experience: Took my belgian malinois in for keyhole spaying. Staff were great with a big dog would thourgly recommend keyhole if considering spaying much less intrusive and alot less recovery time. Very happy with the price and service. Thanks
Thanks for the great review Ben, we really appreciate it!
Take care,
Zetland vets
Fantastic experience: Always a pleasure dealing with Zetland. The staff are so caring and you can tell they want to be there. On this occasion had to drop in a stray dog I found running around a petrol forecourt and they were so lovely. Previously when it’s been my own animals we’ve always been really pleased with the service and outcome.
Thanks so much for the great review Lucy, we really appreciate it!
Take care,
Zetland vets
Positive experience: Really great staff and great service, but blimey do they know how to charge at the out of hours emergency clinic!!!!
Hi Devin, thanks for the great review. Just so you are aware the out of hours team is a separate business from Zetland vets, they just run out of our premises. We hope your pet is doing well.
Take care,
Zetland vets
Negative experience: I’d give this place 0 stars if I could. My dog’s appointment was at 5:45pm and it was very clear that the vet was more concerned about leaving right after her last visit than she was my own pet. My dog had a deep cut on his paw so she did a rushed job shoving two staples into the wrong spot, missed the main spot twice, and left him bleeding all over the floor. His wound was worse after the visit than when he got there. Instead of dressing the now deeper wound like I had done before the visit, she told me to stick a plastic bag over his bleeding paw and come back in a couple days—then again in 10 days to remove the poorly placed staples. Only then did they tell me that they would charge £70 per visit. She did not offer to prescribe any medication (like meloxicam) either, and I had to come back in and explicitly ask for it at the front desk after my vet friend told me my dog needed it. Don’t come here, they don’t care about you or your pet.
I'm really sorry about your experience Adam. If you would like to email us the details to [email protected] management will look into this for you.
Take care,
Zetland vets
Fantastic experience: Phoebe the vet that saw our very poorly cat on the emergency evening surgery was amazing.
Thanks for the great review Hannah! We'll pass your kind words on to Phoebe and the Vets Now team.

Fantastic experience: Very caring veterinary oractice

Fantastic experience: Bought my 12 week old pup Mabel in for some neck pain after being sent away by her original vet and told nothing was wrong, the staff identified the issue promptly making Mabel feel happy and comfortable and gave suitable medication the following morning we have our happy pup back causing mischief, very friendly and attentive staff
Thank you for the lovely review Alice, we're glad Mabel is on the mend!
Take care,
Zetland Vets
Fantastic experience: Great very helpful friendly staff that helped my cat Willow - highly recommend
Thanks for the lovely review Sharon! We hope Willow is doing well :)
Take care,
Zetland vets
Negative experience: Wanted £600 to take an x ray of a chihuahua that was already under sedation, went to an independent vet practise and they will charge half that amount. Saying call if you want to investigate the complaint is ridiculous, you already know what you are doing and charging. The dog should have been x rayed that day but because I don't want to be extorted he is having it over a week later
I'm sorry to hear you're unhappy with our service. If you want us to look into this further for you, please email us on [email protected] with details of your complaint.
Take care,
Zetland vets
Fantastic experience: Had our 6 month old Puppy Poppy spayed on new years eve absolutely amazing staff and Carol the vet who performed the procedure fully informed me of what was going to happen and what an amazing job she did .Poppy has had no problems and is recovering well thank you for taking great care of our little girl
Thanks for the lovely words Sharon! We've passed them on to Carol and the team, and we hope Poppy is recovering well.
Take care,
Zetland Vets
Fantastic experience: Wonderful place. We were back home from out of town and had to bring our post-op cat for Christmas after he felt under the weather. He was made to feel so safe and the treatment was fantastic with everyone so warm and friendly. Thanks to all the team from Tyler and us!
Thanks for your lovely words Nicholas, we've passed that on to the team! We hope Tyler is resting up and you've all had a lovely Christmas.
Take care,

Fantastic experience: Thank you zetland road. The staff at Zetland road are outstanding, the night vet there phoebi saw to our older lurcher Opal. We truly thought it wasn’t going to be a good outcome, we were put to ease when we arrived with a clear diagnosis and advise for other treatments Opal needs going forward. She has vestibular syndrome we thought she was having seizures. After a very big rest she’s upright, going to the loo and eating all by her self (we just carry her up the staires incase, but today I let her go up them for some exercise cradling her sides and she made it up ) When we called through I was so panicked but they were very clear and even sent locations to my phone for my satnav. Thank you so much again for seeing to her. About the price, it costs for the consultation however, I find it reasonable, the staff who work there deserve bonuses, a good wage, they dedicate nights and put off social events to care for our pets in emergencies. Opal is a nervous dog and she was treated brilliantly and really liked vets there
This is the most lovely review, thank you so much Lauren and we are really glad Opal is doing well. We've passed your kind words on to the out of hours team- we're the day team at zetland road so if you wanted to leave your review directly on their page it can be found here. https://g.co/kgs/Jc81Rg5

Fantastic experience: A really lovely veterinary practice- the vets are kind and thorough, and take an interest in teaching their students too who are also very knowledgable. In my experience they work to time despite being very busy. The pet plan is excellent and they have flexible time slots if you work difficult hours to make daytime appointments.
Thank you for the lovely review Lucy! We love being a training practice and helping develop the next generation of vets and nurses, and we always appreciate our clients' support with this, so thank you so much for highlighting that.
Take care,
Zetland vets
Negative experience: Had to take my then kitten to Zetland Hospital for a blood test as it was the only option. It was during covid so had to wait outside in the cold, our appointment was running late, kitten was already distressed before we even got inside. We did the initial consultation, the kitten was then taken from me and disappeared for close to half an hour, visibly traumatised! They said it took longer due to them struggling to take the sample as she was being what they described as too wiggly. I wish I never took her there, it still does not sit right with me, especially when their Patchway branch took 5 minutes to do the same job. No one even explained what to do next, when to take the bandage off, no apology was ever issued. Lack of compassion at this branch is appalling. Edit to add: i appreciate it was a difficult time for everyone, however my cat was gone for over 30 minutes and came back TERRIFIED. Aftercare was not discussed either, reception didn’t care about anything else, not even informing people what the code for parking gate was, just interested in taking the payments. Truly truly disgusting
Hi Paulina,
Sorry you had a bad experience with our hospital clinic during Covid. This was a very difficult time for everyone, and it was frustrating that clients couldn't be with their pets during appointments, as this did sometimes make it more stressful for the animals, which is something we always want to avoid.
If you want to speak to someone further about your experience, please drop us an email on [email protected], although this was quite a long time ago, so the vets may not be able to remember the specific situation.
We are also happy to chat through the steps we take now, as a cat friendly clinic, to try and avoid any stress if we need to take blood samples from cats. This includes medication to relax them before they come in, specially trained nurses and local anaesthetic on the site used. Hopefully this will reassure you if you need to visit our hospital with your cat again.
Take care,
Zetland vets
Fantastic experience: Really helful staff dident have to wait long for appointment
Thanks for the great review Lee!

Negative experience: Zetland Road Vets should be avoided. They are just a large company who do not care about consistency or the animals. We chose to leave Clifton Vets (now owned by this vets) for many reasons. They said we owed some money for the pet plan we canceled. We didn't know what for so asked them to email us with a breakdown, twice. In the mean time they have, it turns out, not been processing our claims for our insurance. No one has contacted us. This is very poor service and we are happy to pay if we owe something but they aren't telling us why we owe them money just that we do. I notice that the other 1 star review a week ago is very similar so there is something fishy going on here. Also, highly recommend Grove Vets in Henleaze. An independent practice.
Hi Sarah,
I'm sorry you're disappointed with the service you received from our accounts team. We have started assisting clifton vets with their admin and insurance services over the last couple of months and so some of this delay may have been before our staff got involved. However, if you would like us to look into this further for you, please drop us an email on [email protected] and one of management will be in touch.
Take care, Zetland vets
Negative experience: This company are ABSOLUTE criminals. They are willing to withhold processing insurance claims while you are waiting to pay an outstanding balance. We owe them money for a pet health club final payment and we asked for a breakdown of this payment via invoice and then we would settle the balance. In the meantime we have been waiting for months for them to process our insurance claim where we are owed hundreds of pounds and they are refusing to process these claims. They are basically blackmailing us when the agreement we have with our insurance company is nothing to do with them other than them processing a document. STAY AWAY FROM THE COMPANY!!!!!!!!!
Hi Paul,
I'm sorry you're disappointed with the service you received from our accounts team. If you would like us to look into this further for you, please drop us an email on [email protected] and one of management will be in touch.
Take care, Zetland vets
Negative experience: It troubles me to write this review. I do not like leaving bad reviews. I have used Zetland Vets for a number of years and even previously left a 5 star review. My issue does not relate directly to the care of my pet, rather to the admin team who deal with insurance claims. Despite the claim being for over £1600, the claim was not processed due to an ‘outstanding charge’ of about £20 for medication, issued some time after the onset of this journey and the filling in of the appropriate forms. I was not told and there was no communication to inform me of this, until I chased the claim myself. I think that this is very poor service. The claims system should be simple, courteous and transparent. This vet practice has made it needlessly complicated and frustrating. When this was raised, the tone of emails became passive aggressive and unhelpful and I have now had complete ‘radio silence’ for over a week. I just want my insurance claim processed. Really disappointed by how this has been handled.
Hi John,
I'm sorry you're disappointed with the service you received from our accounts team, especially as our clinical team is very fond of Harry. If you would like us to look into this further for you, please drop us an email on [email protected] and one of management will be in touch.

Negative experience: Been looking after this cat for few months but haven't been able to find the owner, so finally decided to get him chip checked. Which is free to do at any vets. Also, keep in mind the cat is extremely chipper, young, and healthy. However, they decided not to give him back because he was apparently "unwell". If anything he was a bit nervous cause he was at the vets but honestly not something overly concerning. They explained how he was now in there duty of care due to this, and would be sent to a rehoming centre asap. So I ask if they could let me know where to, so I could go get him - they refused to let me know where! However, said if I paid the consultation fee / service then he was free to go with me now. So much for duty of care, flies out the window if you give them cash. Paid 80 quid, most I've ever paid for consultation fee too. Honeslty, felt very manipulative and cruel. Moral of the story, don't bring cats to get chip check here, they will claim they are sick and take them off you to get money out of you. As soon as I paid they gave it all 'yeah he's fine, was just worried being in the vets.' What a joke! Boy is all happy back where he's meant to be.
Fantastic experience: The team at Zetland vets are always so kind and welcoming. The receptionists are friendly and are clearly animal lovers (they always spoil my dog!) The vets are informative and make sure you understand everything before you leave. I’ve never had a bad experience in the 8 years we’ve been coming. Thank you!
Thanks so much for the lovely review Jo! We will pass your kind words on to the team.
Take care,

Fantastic experience: Superb service from an out of hours visit. As usual though, the prices are extortionate!
Thanks for the great review Michaela! We will pass your words on to Vets Now Bristol who run the out of hours service.

Fantastic experience: my dog had his eye removed, we were there first thing, he had it out and i was regularly updated throughout the day as to what stage he was at in the process and how he was getting on. when we went for our post op appointment, he was even excited to go in!
Thanks so much for the great review Millie! We're glad he made such a fab recovery.

Fantastic experience: The team here have always been brilliant - highly recommend especially Carol
Thank you for the lovely review Leona, we've passed your kind words on to Carol.

Fantastic experience: Once again the vets/nurses at Backwell and those at Redland were all so empathic and supportive. We recently lost one of our cats (Stitch) and they were amazing with my daughter and so attentive to both Stitch and the family. This really does help with the greaving process too. Thank you ❤️❤️ from Miss Harvey and Mrs Sotiris x
Thank you so much for this lovely review Wendy, we hope you guys are doing okay after the passing of Stitch.

Fantastic experience: Cannot rate this vets highly enough, they were brilliant with my poorly boy. My Dobby had to stay overnight - which his usual vets do not accommodate - so we were told to bring him to Zetland. The vet (Phoebe) put me totally at ease, made sure I was aware of everything that was planned for Dobby and any possibilities that may happen during the night. She assured me I could ring at any time during the night for an update on how he was doing (I rang around 11pm before I went to bed) and she also told me she would ring me if needed during the night. Unfortunately that did have to happen at 2am ISH because it was advised he would need surgery however, again I was reassured they would ring straight back if anything went wrong. I knew my boy was in loving hands so felt that everything would be ok. No news is good news right? And luckily that was the case I picked Dobby up bright and early the next day with news that all went as planned and he was on the road to recovery I honestly can't thank the staff enough, Phoebe and the rest of the team were amazing and I couldn't have asked for more. Dobby is doing much better thanks to their brilliant work
Thanks so much for this review Stacey. We've passed on your kind words to Phoebe and the Vets Now out of hours team.
Take care,
Zetland Vets
Negative experience: I’ve only put one star to be able to write a review: we were very emotionally exhausted by the experience so I’ve only felt able to write something now, this instance happened a year and a half ago. I booked in a keyhole spay for my dog (more expensive and less intrusive) and they performed a traditional spay - we were aghast that they did this. Their excuse was that I’d signed a consent form but it wasn’t “informed” consent as the medical words used on the form didn’t match what the average person would refer to these surgeries as i.e. I didn’t understand the words and trusted the vet. The vet just said something along the lines of, “this is a consent form, there can be complications etc.” I thought that was all normal and that I was signing a consent form for a keyhole spay, which is what I’d booked. They’d got my booking mixed up, which can only be their fault. We only realised this mix up had happened when it got infected quickly after and the bandage was removed, I saw a huge cut down her belly and asked “shouldn’t it be tiny and on her side?”. This infection was because they had dropped a stitch inside. She then required ANOTHER surgery to correct what they’d messed up. This second surgery happened a mere few days after the initial surgery - our dog had to endure a lot of physical trauma which devastates me. We weren’t angry at the original surgery complications as obviously that can happen with all surgeries, but we were upset that they’d done the wrong surgery originally and can’t help but think if the correct surgery was done, she may never have had to endure all the things that followed after. None of this was malicious, of course, but they didn’t deal with the situation with grace, empathy or understanding. They explained the second surgery was free so essentially we should be grateful. We moved vets immediately. Issues are still arising however - a disc slipped in her back shortly after she’d healed - we believe because she was walking different due to her abdomen being weakened and she now has hernia - this is because they weakened her abdominal muscles by cutting her open twice. Anyway, this isn’t a scathing review, I just feel it necessary to tell our story.
Negative experience: After discovering our insurance was out of date the receptionist was demanding £900 I explained that I would need to pay in installments for my dog to have the emergency treatment...she was having none of it...it's all about the money first..pet care obviously comes second thank god for the PDSA...
Hi Carl, the PDSA can offer treatment free of charge due to public donations. While we will always offer unwell animals first aid and pain relief, unfortunately as a business, for more complex investigations, we rely on payment to continue to offer our services to other animals.
Take care,
Zetland Vets
Fantastic experience: My cat was really not well. (Saturday evening)and I had to get her to the vets quickly. I called the emergency veterinary clinic and they pointed me in this direction. The staff at Zetland Road were polite, caring and extremely sympathetic and supportive. Jenny, my cat, did have to be put to sleep, but I was given as much time as I needed to say goodbye to her. Their helpfulness and sympathy was second to none.
Thanks for the lovely review Claire. We've passed your comments on to Phoebe the vets now vet you saw on Saturday.

Fantastic experience: Amazing vets!!! They have looked after my cats for last 10 years.
Thanks so much for the five star review Joseph.

Fantastic experience: After a nasty cut to both her paw pad and her leg that occurred when running in a stream we thankfully got to our vets, our wonderful vets. Millie, our springer, collie cross was loved and cared for by every member of staff. Maria began her care and then Lexie did the required surgery and all follow up. What a team! Thankyou. Our lovely athletic dog can walk and run once more. We cannot speak highly enough of each and every staff member but especially the skill and care from Lexie.
Thanks for this amazing review Sue! We're glad Millie is feeling better and will pass on your lovely feedback to Lexy and Maria (who are both great, you're right!). We hope Millie is resting up and avoiding any more accidents!

Fantastic experience: I cannot praise Zetland Vets highly enough. This photo was of Charlie's last chemo session before he passed just before Christmas. Due to their amazing care he lived nearly 18 months longer than the initial prognosis suggested he would. Not only did he live but he had a quality of life beyond what you could have hoped for. He actually enjoyed going in for his treatment - mainly because of the love and care he had each month. We were made to feel welcome and cared for and about. After he passed their care towards myself was second to none. My other two dogs will never go anywhere else.
Thank you so much for this review. Seeing Charlie (and Coco) every month has been a pleasure, and we will miss him enthusiastically eating that bowl of food while he had his treatment. Thank you so much for the lovely review.

Fantastic experience: We were late to the appointment but they still made time to see us. Very happy with them.
Thank you for the lovely review Robert!

Fantastic experience: We moved to the Zetland Practice after finding out that our previous vet had voted for Brexit . One of the consequences of leaving the EU was that we had to start paying £200+ for an animal health check every trip abroad, so that made us pretty cross with him. We've been delighted by the reception and veterinary staff at Zetland and our dog has received first class care. The vets have had an emphasis on preventative and health enhancing work ideal for an ageing dog. Reading the somewhat negative review below, I wonder if the writer upset the receptionist somehow. They also don't seem to have been a client of the practice so maybe it's a competitor trying to damage the practice's review record?
Thank you for this review Iain and for your kind words about our reception and veterinary staff.
Take care,
Zetland vets
Fantastic experience: Lovely experience. Kind and welcoming staff. First impressions always count
Thanks for the lovely review Anthony.
Take care,
Zetland Vets
Negative experience: Quite rude on the phone when I called to ask about a lost dog. Refused to take my name and number despite me reiterating several times that I do not know if she had been chipped. Didn’t ask the breed or anything. Seemed quite unbothered. The vets themselves might be better but the reception staff I spoke to was unhelpful at best.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we are always looking to improve our service, including our reception team. If you would like to give us more details about when this incident took place, we can look into it further. Please feel free to email [email protected] with the details.
Take care,
Zetland Vets

Fantastic experience: Zetland Vets have provided care for both my dogs over the last decade. A lovely practice, with warm Reception staff, nurses and vets, I've never received anything but exceptional care and service. We have since moved further from the practice, but I wouldn't consider taking my dogs anywhere else. I'd absolutely recommend them.

Hi Disha,
Thank you so much for the five star review.
Take care,
Zetland Vets
Negative experience: Monthly Pet Health Club is a scam, they take monthly payment for flea and worm treatment but dont provide this. On sign-up I was promised text reminders which stopped along with the prescribed treatments, but they kept taking my money. Claimed they dont know when people give their pets medicine, yet prescriptions are for monthly treatment so yes they can know. Clear this is a convenient way to get monthly income without providing actual treatment, neglectful service from a vet whose sole job is to provide care for animals.
Hiya,
I'm sorry you were dissatisfied with our service. If you would like to discuss your concerns further with our team, please email the details to [email protected].
Take care,
Zetland Vets

Fantastic experience: Very welcoming. Has separate areas of the waiting room for cats and dogs. All staff are welcoming and knowledgeable and there’s not a long waiting time for appointments.
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a nice and detailed review Dexter. Take care.
Positive experience: Very tidy, it is evident they maintain frequent cleaning by the strong ammonia smell. When I required emergent care for my dog, they booked an appointment that day without question, and even made time for her when we had to go before the appointment time. Great with emergent care and patient with the owners anxiety.
Thank you ever so much for the kind words Arthur. Take care.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff and always welcoming lovely with. My animals
Thank you Fiona for taking the time to leave the lovely review and five stars.
Fantastic experience: I wanted to express my thanks to Matt, Senior Vet at Filton, for his care of my elderly Dachshund, Barney. Matt has been treating him for a likely spinal infection for several weeks, and despite his age, 14 years, Matt has treated Barney with antibiotics and anti inflammatory medication. We discussed to what extent further invesigations were indicated. I am pleased that my wishes regarding Barney's treatment were taken into account, and my pet's best interests. Thank you. Ann Holmes.
Thank you Ann for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. We will pass on your kind words to Matt. Take care.

Fantastic experience: I brought in a hedgehog I was worried about. The staff gave the little spikey dude a once over and he/she received a clean bill of health. So good of the staff to take a look at 1am in the morning. Total legends. X
Thank you Wayne for taking the time to leave us the lovely review. Take care.
Negative experience: Payed 300£ odd for a 15 mins consultation and doctor couldn’t give a diagnosis. Had a fun time
Thank you for your feedback. Please feel free to email us on [email protected] and one of our senior management team will be happy to talk you through the costing and the consultation given in more detail.
Negative experience: My daughter took her fully vaccinated 5 month old puppy here when she arived there was over 6 other dogs waiting outside in pools of blood all with parvo our dog pooed outside we informed a member of staff 2 hours later still there. How many other dogs caught parvo well suspected parvo. No one was willing to let uss know what was going on. Very rude staff and this place has no precautions in place for parvo or any other illnesses passing to other pets. Absolutely disgusting should be shut down.
We are very sorry that you were disappointed with your visit with your puppy. As you have mentioned, our emergency colleagues were seeing some very sad cases of young animals affected with possible parvovirus at the time of your visit, which were asked to wait outside to reduce contamination of our waiting areas. Biosecurity and infection control is something which we take very seriously as a practice (as do our colleagues at the emergency service), however as I am sure you understand, admitting these patients to our dedicated isolation facility and commencing their treatment was the priority at this time. All of our facilities have undergone rigorous cleaning during the recent parvovirus outbreak. We are very happy to discuss this more with you in person if you wish, please do not hesitate to contact our reception.
Negative experience: Unfortunately I had to take my poorly boy to out of hours vets and unluckily for me it was Zetland rd vets, awful service received made me feel awful for saying he had parvo and needed proof of vaccines for it thinking I was lieing. Kept going on about insurance which I didn’t have but had no problem paying for whatever he needed done, I seriously feel that this place failed all treatment and they pushed me into having my 1yr old dog down, I was distraught as you can imagine and they showed absolutely no remorse! Just kept mentioning payment! I decided to get my boy cremated and when I went to collect ashes they told me they couldn’t find them! This place is absolutely horrific and I warn anyone never to take their pets here as they don’t care about the animals or the owners! Please go somewhere else if you want to be spared with years of regret and grief!
Thank you Natasha for the review and sorry to hear about your recent experience. The vets you are referring too are a completely different vets to ourselves. They are called Vets Now and operate out of the same building during out of hours. Please feel free to get in touch with them if you wish to make a complaint. Hope this information helps and take care.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly and helpful Vets. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area
Thank you for taking the time to leave us the lovely review Michael. Take care.
Negative experience: Bloody awful place. Twice used this vet in an emergency and TWICE received awful treatment. This time told one thing by admitting vet and told another by take over vet. So all tests, xrays and scans told NEEDED to be done never even done. Excuse! Because pdsa treatment and emergency have to keep costs down as pdsa is a charity. It was pdsa who sent us there to begin with. Now have to go back to pdsa tomorrow and put him through this all again. Wouldn't even give it one star if I could.
Thank you for your feedback Marie and sorry to hear about your recent experiences. Please feel free to email your complaint to [email protected] if you wish for us to fully investigate this for you. There is also an out of hours vets, who are a different vets to us, but share the same building as us. We can happily pass on your complaint to them too if it relates to them.
Positive experience: As the last person in the World who thinks we'd all be better off without pets, I have to say our elderly cat was given first class attention and a sensible suggestion for treatment. The surgery was busy when we were there at 6.00pm but we were seen quickly
Thank you Will for taking the time to leave us the kind review. Take care.
Fantastic experience: This a retrospective review of the hospital services given to our beautiful and complicated dog Fangles. He was admitted a few times over his lifespan to Zetland Road, mostly due to siezure control as had complex idopathic epilepsy and had cluster siezures ( from age of 2 to 10.5 years). The response, treatment and professionalism and honesty was relayed everytime we attended with it him, by all members of the team. In his later years he developed heart failure & likely unknown abdominal cancer but maintained the best quality of life until a very quick decline, where he attended again as an emergency due to symptoms. This sensitivity of vet ( Charles I believe) nurses and reception staff were without fault as we said goodbye to him. I cannot fault the heartfelt service we have had here for our boy over the 8.5 years to support us in emergency situations with our complex needs boy. Thankyou.
Thank you ever so much Leanne for leaving such a kind review at such a difficult time. We will make sure to pass on your kind words to the team. Take care.
Fantastic experience: Amazed to hear the vets will take wildlife in for free Treated Trashcat on a Saturday with no appointment and within 15 mins of us arriving to wait
Thank you Hattie for taking the time to leave us the 5 star rating. Take care.
Negative experience: I don't think I have ever been so disappointed with a vets in all 30 plus years of owning a vet. 1. They took my money via their pet plan during tte whole year plus of covid when I needed some flea treatment for the cat it wasn't available. ( I only do the cat in the summer) They didn't phone me and let me know I made a special journey to pick it up with my dogs and cats treatments only then I was told I would need to return to collect it. They do they contine to take my money when they vsnt offer the service? 2.My dog needed dental work twice I told the vet that I was planning to claim on my vet insurance, I was advised to check i was covered. I was than talked about this to another vet.At no point during either conversation did anyone mention that the insurance needed to be pre approved until the morning of the operation when they told me I needed to pay over £500 and claim it back. 3. My other dog needed to go in for dental work I checked twice this time that they had preapproved it.When she came out of surgery there where no appointment available for the check up and I needed to go to another branch. This surgery was booked over a week in advance, Good practice would be to book the check up when you book someone in for tte opp.I did tell the receptionist that I wasn't able to go to another branch ( which I wasnt branches are at Filton Westbury and Blackwell hardly close to F ishponds ) and it as it was obvious that my dog needed a post op check why wasn't this booked in for me. when I made the appointment for tte opp. I was told I was rude ( which I wasnt) then she came out after 5 minutes and loadly said that she was fed up with dealing with rude customer which quite frankly is unprofessional. I

Fantastic experience: Lovely staff and looked after our pride and joy during his dental operation. Very attentive and professional - perfect communication to ease anxiety during the post-op wait. Thank you Zetland x
Thank you ever so much Giles for the lovely review. We will make sure to pass on your kind words to the team.
Negative experience: Absolutely infuriated! First two trips to trips to the vets Ruffus seen two amazing vets Rebecca & Becca. Took him to get his nails clipped an the male vet “Charles” took him straight away from me; minutes later all I could hear was Ruffus crying. With that he came out with Ruffus and told me Ruffus was too anxious / distressed. NOT SURPRISED when you take him straight away from me/his owner! He’s a 7month old puppy! Ruffus has since been extremely nervous when going to the vets, not vicious, just shaky and timid. Anyway had to go to the appointment today for Ruffus’s eye & for the vet we seen to say on his notes it says he’s vicious and needs to be muzzled. I explained to this vet, he has never been muzzled before and is far from vicious, what does she think he’s going to do? Lick her to death? She then continues to say, she’s not happy to examine Ruffus’s eye because she was bit by a dog of a similar breed and is now scared of them. Ruffus is 7 months old, he’s a Staffie crossed with a collie! Ruffus went to give her paw and she ran a mile right back into the corner of the consultation room. So she said to me she’ll give me a cream and if it’s no better in 5 days they’ll sedate him to examine his eye.Absolutely disgraceful! Some people need to change their profession!! If you don’t like a select breed of dog, don’t be a vet! This would be like a GP refusing to examine a person because of their genetics, it just wouldn’t happen! My blood is boiling. I will never be taking my baby there again Feel sorry for the 2 vets (becca and Rebecca) that I seen previous who were phenomenal shame horrid 2 can change the whole outlook of the place! Will never ever go back! Hearing lots of things about this place since this incident today! Stay well clear! Absolutely awful.
Thank you for your feedback Hannah and sorry to hear about your recent experience. Please feel free to email your complaint to [email protected] if you wish for us to fully investigate this for you.
Positive experience: Lovely vets. Reliable and trustworthy. Bit expensive, but I imagine these are the prices you pay these days!
Thank you Alexander for the kind words and 5 stars.
Fantastic experience: Despite the current situation they have maintained an excellent standard of care.my dog had a large growth removed and has made a great recovery despite her age a massive thanks to sebastian and carol. Once again zetland vets have provided us with another successful operation and after care .Amy and the team have gone above and beyond to provide my dog with the best care possible.thanks to all envolved--Recommend.
Thank you ever so much John for the lovely review. We will make sure to pass on your kind words to Sebastian and Carol.
Fantastic experience: Outstanding veterinary practice. I had to bring my dog in for an emergency. I've never met such an empathic and experienced vet. She, (Kathleen), identified the problem within hours. My registered vet practice in Wales couldn't figure it out in four visits over five weeks. Their negligence almost killed my dog, despite their assurances that nothing was wrong with him. I am so angry and upset with them. In contrast, Zetland (Kathleen) listened carefully to everything I had to say. She explained what she was going to do, what she suspected the cause was in exact detail so I knew what was going on, and what to expect. Yet she didn't over promise and was careful to wait for test results before giving a definitive answer to my questions. She didn't jump to conclusions. She was also very transparent about the cost which I really appreciated, so it wouldn't be another shock on top of my dog being so sick. Zetland saved my dogs life. I will be forever grateful to them. If you need an emergency visit, you want a second opinion or your gut is telling you something's wrong, please visit them. They will help you and your animal, and hopefully set your animal on the path to recovery.
Thank you for the 5 star rating. Take care.
Fantastic experience: The staff are excellent with the pets and keep them calm during the treatment. There is a very friendly and helpful atmosphere here. We have used them for many years.
Thank you ever so much for leaving the kind and detailed review Simon, we really appreciate it.
Negative experience: Go to Whitchurch if you have a rabbit or other pet classed as an exotic. Zetland said they couldn't do anything else for our rabbit, since developing a respiratory issue and trying him on Baytril for a couple of months. I did a bit of research and found out there are other anti-biotics which can be used on rabbits, but you need to find the correctly trained vets who know what to do and suggest. The vets at Highcroft Whitchurch, did this and saved his life. I'm sure Zetland are great with cats and dogs, but with rabbits I wish they would just defer to the experts and refer you elsewhere.
Thank you for your feedback Alicia and sorry to hear about your recent experience. Please feel free to email your complaint to [email protected] if you wish for us to fully investigate this for you.
Fantastic experience: This place is amazing. Had a really scary emergency where my puppy literally fell off a small cliff (thankfully she's somehow ok!) and they saw her immediately and were so kind and comforting during a really scary situation. Thank you so much, Zetland Vet Hospital!
Thanks Rhi for taking the time to leave the kind comments and the five stars. We're glad to hear she's doing well. Take care and please feel free to get in touch if you ever need anything.
Fantastic experience: We’ve been using Zetland Veterinary Hospital for over 7 years and have always been hugely impressed with the standard of care and quality of staff. Would 100% recommend.
Thank you ever so much Caroline for leaving the kind review and the 5 stars. Take care.
