Fantastic experience: Wonderful staff, very caring and understanding.

Negative experience: I cannot fault the vets themselves, who appeared to do everything they could for my 5-month-old puppy, who very sadly had to be put to sleep. The clinical care at the time felt compassionate and professional. However, I have been incredibly upset by the insensitivity of the finance team following his death. After taking out £10,000 of insurance cover, my claim was unexpectedly declined. Langford were aware that I was challenging this decision, yet as soon as the insurer refused payment I was aggressively chased for several thousands of pounds. At a time when I was grieving the loss of my puppy, I was told I would need to pay the full amount upfront and, if I couldn’t afford it, to use a credit card. After repeated conversations, I was eventually offered the option to split the balance into three payments “to show some festive cheer” and “in the season of goodwill.” Given that this was only weeks after my puppy had been put to sleep, I found those comments deeply upsetting and insensitive. Despite explaining my circumstances, there was no meaningful flexibility or understanding shown. I am still struggling with extortionate monthly payments as a result of this situation — payments for a puppy I no longer have — and at no point have I felt there has been genuine empathy or consideration for the emotional and financial position I was placed in. You would hope that, given the nature of the work carried out in a veterinary hospital, administrative and finance teams would be trained to communicate with greater compassion. On that basis, I would not choose to bring a future dog here. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously.

Fantastic experience: Theo's favourite Hospital! Nobody wants to take their pet to a hospital because it means something's wrong, but if you need the treatment, I really cannot think of a better hospital to go to. Theo is there because we need to work out what's going on with his paws. Professional and Friendly.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant service from all members of staff who go out of their way to make you feel comfortable when you are worried about your pet. Insurance handled by them seamlessly. Just a shame I didn't get good news for my pet. Follow up calls and emails were a great help. Would 100% recommend.

Fantastic experience: Visited last week with a very poorly Sia, she had a bad cat flu flare up. Dr Emily was fantastic, we were very worried about our furbaby and she put our minds at ease. Sia got some injections and medication and within 24 hours she started to feel better. Everyone we met so far was lovely. *The only thing we'd prefer is having access to local emergency care. Dorchester seems forever away if something life threatening were to happen!

Fantastic experience: These guys are next-level vets; it's a different class of professionals than what we have experienced at other Animal Hospitals. I'm surprised there isn't some kind of Channel 4 documentary on this place. They are obviously clinically brilliant, but it's really how they have been trained in communication and their bedside manner that makes a difference. My biggest regret is not having my dog referred here earlier (or not knowing such a place existed in the South West of England). If you're worried your current vet is guessing, or you feel unsure, DEMAND to be referred here. I certainly will in the future. No, the care is not cheap, but this is exactly what insurance is for and why you should have it as a responsible pet owner.

Fantastic experience: We cannot thank the team at Langford Vets enough for their incredible support and compassion during a very difficult time. Our cat was rushed in with a sudden and complex illness, and their communication was clear and concise from the start. They explained all the treatment options and associated pricing, which helped us manage our pet insurance and understand the financial implications of continuing with treatment. Their honesty about what we could realistically expect was invaluable. The team explored every possible avenue to help our cat, but unfortunately, he was just too poorly. When it was time to say goodbye, they provided a peaceful and calm environment for us. We truly believe they did everything they could to make our beloved boy comfortable. Thank you for your kindness and for taking such good care of him in his last days.

Fantastic experience: We were referred here by our vets as they said our dog needed very specialised surgery. We were expecting the worst, but were very pleasantly surprised when we were told things weren't as bad as we were walled to believe. Nick explained everything in detail and gave us our options and his evaluation and advised next steps. Very professional ans friendly service from the moment we walked in through the door and then met with 2 students vets who did the initial assessment and fussed our dogs, and then handed over to Nick, the specialist. Can't fault a thing and we really appreciate the openness and great advice. We would not hesitate to take our girls back in the future

And the vet attending my fur baby was kind, professional, and clearly cared about my pet’s well-being. The vet took the time to explain everything and answered all my questions patiently. Fantastic experience: Our dog Jasper was referred to Langford for TPLO surgery. The care he received was second to none. From the time of booking the surgery to his 6 week follow up appointment- which was this week the communication from the lovely staff members has been brilliant. Catherine, the veterinary surgeon who operated on Jasper explained everything so well to us and was so patient and caring with him throughout. We had regular communication from staff with updates whilst he stayed there for 3 days- when he refused to eat they even phoned to ask what his favourite food is and then messaged to let us know he had eaten. We have received thorough reports regarding his surgery and instructions for his recovery. We are so glad that we opted for Langfords and would recommend to anyone with a poorly pet.

Fantastic experience: All members of staff were so wonderful with our little man Calon and treated him like one of their own. We had twice-daily updates on how he was doing while in their care, and the vets were super knowledgeable and proactive when treating him. Sadly we didn't get the outcome we wanted due to the severity of his illness in the end but I know for a fact he was in the best place possible and absolutely everything that could be done for him was done without hesitation - we were in awe of the lengths the staff went to to monitor and treat him accordingly the second they needed to do so. Thank you again for doing everything you could and providing such a wonderful support to us both during and after treatment, the standard of care provided is amazing and every member of staff we spoke to is an absolute asset to the hospital. ❤️

Fantastic experience: I took one of my dogs to see the behaviour team at Langford. Emma (vet) and Sarah (nurse) we're absolutely lovely, took the time to talk through all my concerns, what we've tried so far, etc., then made a plan for next steps, checking with me to make sure I was comfortable with all of what they were telling me, and summarising for me, along with setting realistic expectations for timescales. I had an email summary of the immediate steps within 24 hours of being seen, a full report is to follow shortly.

Fantastic experience: I took my mums boy Freddie to Langford last Friday 7th feb after being to out of hours and not knowing what was wrong with him while doing tests all night we was getting know answers we was referred here After them having him just 3 hours they had done tests and actually scanned him to find he had eaten a foreign object and had cut rot they worked on him for hours and operated they done all they could sadly we didn’t get the out come We wanted and Freddie passed but the care and support we received off marianna was amazing nothing was to much trouble and we new Freddie was well cared for and looked after and there was nothing more she could of done. We was told Freddie was never alone and was treated as one of there pets I can’t Thank you enough for all you done to help us during the time you had him x

Fantastic experience: We would like to sincerely thank surgeon Dan Lomas and his amazing team for their immediate caring attention when our bichon frise, Issey needed an urgent op. We felt we were in caring and expert hands from the start and put our trust in them when we had to leave Issey with them for a few days. Thanks also to Erin who kept us updated with her upbeat and caring daily phone calls. Issey is now home and recovering well with her sisters. Fantastic experience: A wonderful friendly vets for small animals, my small dog needed an operation and they let us wait after her sedation until she was asleep before handing her over. Our vet Ben was very calming, understanding and caring. Langford veterinary is one of the best vet practices in the UK. As it’s a University for Veterinary you know they have all the best facilities and services at hand. Equestrian, pets to small animals, they provide the services with great care. The cafe on site is fantastic too. 10/10

My girl needed an operation on her leg so we was referred here, we got an appointment the very next day at 8,30 am and she was operated on the same day as well, The vet was 2nd to none and the aftercare was more than you could ask for. I called several times and at all hours but i was always helped and reassured never made to feel like i was a pain even though I definitely was lol The animals definitely come first here. Can't recommend them enough.

Fantastic experience: I can’t fault them, they were great from the start. I took my Frenchie to them with IVDD and they got him in for surgery and operated within hours. The aftercare was more than I could have asked for, calling me twice a day with updates. I knew he was in good hands with them. My surgeon who operated on Reggie and took care of him, I can’t thank you enough. Yes it’s eye watering costly, especially if you don’t have insurance like me … but I still have my dog and that’s what matters. Money will always return. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: These guys were amazing with my dog Somer. She is very nervous of vets having had some unpleasant experiences elsewhere but james put me and my dog at ease when she went in to be spayed and to have a melanoma removed. Great after care too. They put the animal first which is all any pet owner can hope for.

Fantastic experience: Our 3 year old CKC broke 2 toes due being hit by a car (very lucky pup), we were referred to Langford Refferalls and we were advised by our own vets that an amputation of the toe maybe required but Aaron and his team were absolutely amazing and managed to save all his toes woth plates and pins, our dog was very well looked after by the team, very well accommodating and always kept us upto date, always there when we need help or advise, I can not recommend this place enough, myself and my wife will always be grateful and appreciative for what you have done... if I could give more than 5 stars I 100% would. Thank you guys so much!!

Fantastic experience: Without going into a huge story, Tom, Clare and the neurology team and associated nurses and staff have been fantastic in supporting us with our dog who slipped a disk last night. They stayed behind with regular updates whilst I was stuck in traffic, I turned up very late and Clare was super calm and helpful in checking over our dog Luna then taking her in. Cannot recommend enough (and this was the view of others I spoke to who were at the vets at the same time).

And for peace of mine give you numerous updates on progress of how your pet is following an operation. Definitely worth considering if your pet needs treatment

Fantastic experience: Travelled over two hours to this vet to save my dogs life. This was the only vet willing to do the surgery my best friend needed to save him without having to pay up front and went directly through my insurance there care an skills are amazing the staff went above and beyond for us calling us with updates reassuring us our dog was OK after surgery I was very anxious as we was two hours away and had to leave him there they put me as ease nothing was to much I even missed a call due to bad signal an Richard text me to reassure me my dog was OK. Absolutely amazing. Ritchard an team thankyou for saveing my baby and giving him a chance after my regular vet basically wrote him off and advised the worst. Reggie says thank you two.

Fantastic experience: They looked after Jimmy are Welsh springer spaniel and have given us all the information and support to help him recover from his mishap falling down the stairs. Just got to keep him quite fir the next 4 weeks.

Fantastic experience: My dog was diagnosed by our vet with the dachshunds' owners most feared IVDD. We had a choice of two specialists in the area and we immediately chose Langfords due to its excellent reputation. Absolutely amazing and dedicated team!! Everything was explained in great detail and we were contacted many times re progress. Although we were anxious we knew she was in safe hands. Extra thanks to Catherine and Sophie, and of course to the surgeons who performed this miracle.

Fantastic experience: If your small pet is poorly and you've exhausted the skills and equipment that your local vet has to diagnose the issue, there's a good chance if you're in the Gloucestershire, Somerset areas and possibly beyond, of being referred here. They have the kit, MRI and CAT scanners plus more and vast experience to ensure your pet is diagnosed and sent home with appropriate treatment plans, drugs and they follow up. A lovely bunch of people who know what they are doing and have a great deal of knowledge. Luckily for us they came under budget otherwise the whole slipped disc episode could have cost us c6K and our insurance c4K.

Fantastic experience: Clean & pleasant waiting area. Separate room for cats so they don't get stressed. Caring staff who are reassuring, explain thoroughly, & provide regular updates. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: This is the best vet in the South West. They are worth travelling to. They have expertise beyond any vet chain, wonderful caring vets and nurses, and are more reasonably priced. Our cat didn't survive his cancer, but they couldn't have done more.

Fantastic experience: If you get referred here it's because your own vet has failed to diagnose or properly treat your beloved pet. That's what happened to us with our Caucasian Shepherd Pisces. Without boring you with the details, our regular vet was unable to sort the issue, but these guys did, absolute experts in their field. Think of it like your GP sending you to a Consultant! Thank you Lee and your team for the peace of mind you have given us.

She has had her operation now and I can relax for the first time since Sunday morning . A huge credit to veterinary care .

The treatment my beloved dog received was life changing and they supported me carefully through the decision making and treated my dog as if he was their own. This is not my first experience with them but they never fail to impress me. Comparatively their costs are also quite reasonable.

Fantastic experience: Leo and his team saved our boys life. He was one seriously ill/on deaths door boy and our local vet was at a loss. They vigorously tested him and it transpired he had deadly lung worm, they bought him back from the dead and we will forever be grateful. He’s now made a full recovery! Fantastic experience: Our vet spotted something in one of our dogs and referred him to Langford Vets. If we could give them more than 5 stars, we would. They really looked after him well. He stayed overnight, they allayed our worries about what was going to happen, and he's home recovering well. The welcome pack and instructions were excellent, as were all the staff from arrival to leaving. If we are referred to Langford again in the future, we know what to expect, a fantastic service for both us and our dogs. Definitely recommend them highly.

Positive experience: Very courteous staff. Like all humans, remember that mistakes happen. Our dog suffered as a result of their mistakes twice. They admitted to that which is honest. Thus please check your bill. We had to renegotiate our bill. Apart from that, I'll recommend them if your pet has complex and life-threatening issues.

We all have that fuss about which vet is the best and everything… Although they are not operating as normal vets , but when it comes to serious problem and health issue , they are the best ! Fantastic experience: I am so happy to recommend Langford Vets Small Animal Referral Hospital! My Golden Retriever puppy, Breagha, is being treated for IHPSS, and underwent a coil embolisation procedure there in February 2023. From the very beginning, the staff were professional, caring, and friendly, which put me at ease during what was a very stressful time. They kept me updated throughout the process and provided me with excellent follow-up advice, which helped me to care for Breagha during her initial recovery. I would like to give a big thank you to Dr Ed Friend and his team (Nick and Gabby), who were absolutely amazing. Their expertise, care, and dedication were truly impressive and made all the difference in my puppy's stay. The staff at Langford Vets were always available to answer my questions and address any concerns I had, and I felt that Breagha was in very good hands throughout her time there. Overall, Langford Vets Small Animal Referral Hospital provided exceptional care to my puppy, and I'm so grateful for the excellent service that they provided. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for high-quality, compassionate care for their pet!

Fantastic experience: Taken my Miniature Schnauzer to Langford after he had undergone surgery at the local vets. He spent 5 days in ICU communication from the consultant was excellent had a phone call twice a day. I didnt think he was going to make it home but treatment was excellent and I now have my puppy back home with me. Thank You

Fantastic experience: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR DEDICATION TO MY DOG SCOOBY OWEN, HE IS DOING REALLY WELL AFTER HAVING BOTH SIDES OF HIS SALIVARY GLANDS REMOVED FROM A LARGE SWELLING UNDER HIS NECK, AFTER THE FIRST SURGERY IT WAS NOT SUCESSFULL BUT AFTER A SECOND SURGERY SCOOBY WHO IS 12 YEARS OLD IS DOING GREAT, AND NO MORE SWELLING OF SALIVA HAS OCCURRED, THANK YOU ED AND YOUR TEAM

Fantastic experience: We can not rate this place highly enough!! Our Doberman pup was rushed here on Tuesday evening after being hit by a car. We descended on the hospital in absolute panic, covered in blood, crying, a total mess and without having even called before hand the whole staffing team from the reception, nurses to the on call vets were calm, efficient and saw him immediately! We are not even registered here and with no questions asked they whisked him off for immediate treatment. Not only did they handle the whole situation with professionalism they were kind and gentle to myself and my partner. They kept him overnight in their ICU as he was in shock and his face was a mess, he went through surgery needing lots of stitches, had ultra-sounds, an X-ray etc… we don’t have insurance and every cost implication was clearly explained and outlined as we went along. Long story short our dog is now home and recovering thanks to this amaizing place, the level of care here is just brilliant and we can’t thank you enough

Fantastic experience: Excellent 1st class care from start to finish. Our Bichon Frise Danny had a cruciate operation performed by Kevin Parsons, what a brilliant and skilled surgeon, we never thought our dog would be able to walk normally again, but with the correct care and advice by the team he is now all back to good health. Fantastic experience: The care my Dog received from the team at the Small Animal Hospital was second to none, their expertise and dedication saved her life as she had and emergency operation in the middle of the night. I will be forever grateful and thankful for the treatment she had from them

Fantastic experience: We just took our fudge to this hospital because they can do lots more testing. No good news my little dog FUDGE passed away in early hours after the vets seen she was working hard to breathe they kept us informed about everything thing they had to do to try and save her life but she passed away peacefully. Thankyou for everything you had done. Will never forget it.
