Our comment from InfoVet about Vets4Pets - Bitterne:

Vets4Pets - Bitterne is a veterinary practice that has garnered a range of feedback from pet owners. Many users have expressed their appreciation for the friendly and caring staff, highlighting that they feel supported and understood, especially when dealing with anxious pets. Deniz has been particularly noted for his exceptional handling of nervous animals, providing a calming presence.

Despite the positive experiences, there have been several critiques regarding the management of the practice. Some customers reported feeling pressured by unexpected costs and treatments, raising ethical concerns about the pricing of procedures. Moreover, issues surrounding parking fines due to the car park's monitoring have frustrated numerous visitors, with unclear signage noted as a significant problem.

While Vets4Pets - Bitterne excels in customer service and pet care, potential clients should be aware of the parking policies and be prepared for possibly higher-than-expected treatment costs. Overall, the dedication to animal welfare paired with attentive service encourages many to recommend this practice, despite some areas in need of improvement.

Fantastic experience: The staff have always been very accommodating as my dog is very anxious and reactive. Everyone in the practice is friendly and supportive and I feel listened to and understood. Very grateful to have a supportive veterinary practice so close by.

Positive experience: We recently had to have our beloved dog put to sleep here. And while the whole process went smoothly, I found it shocking that half way through, I was asked to pay for the treatment. I was in the middle of saying goodbye to my beloved pet of 15 years, I was beside myself with all kind of emotions, so this came as a shock. So my friendly piece of advise is to ask customers to pay upfront first if not after in the future as this kind of treatment is uncalled-for. It made me sad that money was more important than my pet and my feelings.

Negative experience: The receptionist who handles suggestions and complaints is extremely rude and completely unfit to deal with customers. The level of care for customers is at an absolute minimum, and there’s a complete lack of empathy or professionalism. A place that treats people this way should never be allowed to serve the public. The owner either doesn’t care about how customers are treated or has no idea how poorly things are being managed.

Fantastic experience: Always good here, staff are lovely

Negative experience: A disgrace of a company. Car park looks like it is for customers of subway and not the vets you then get hit with a parking charge for not being a customer of the vets. A scam if ever I have seen one.

Darren Wright Posted on Google 8 months ago

Positive experience: My dog gets anxious and said we need to be quick with her when booking. She was fine when first went in but had to wait 20mins after our schedule appointment by which point she knew where she was and wanted to leave so made it harder when we did eventually get in to give her, her injection. Vets did a good job though eventually.

Fantastic experience: They're brilliant. Deniz is especially great with our jumpy Rottweiler. Vets4Pets have always been the very best vets I have ever had to use. They are knowledgeable & are extremely patient. Our Rottweiler is quite jumpy & they’ve even offered to come out to the car park to see him rather than us having to take him into the building. Warning, remember to register your car registration details when you first go into the vets otherwise you may get a parking ticket.

Negative experience: Never had an issue with this vets until they sexed my kitten wrong which is not great considering they are meant to be professionals

Tom Posted on Google 10 months ago

Negative experience: Rubbish company i made a delivery to them and used their carpark next to Tesco, stopped for 15 minutes after making the delivery and they charged me £120 for using it as I'm not a customer, staff rude and unwilling to help. Clearly a scam, wouldn't use for my pet

Negative experience: Not impressed! No equipment to test eye pressure to help with Glaucoma diagnosis in my Labrador. "Hit or miss" eye drops for a week and then another appointment(more fees!) to make a referral. Changed this "Vet" in quick time!

TD Ozistek Posted on Google 11 months ago

Negative experience: They (together with Premier Park) rip off the people who come to the nearby stores with their car park that doesn't have proper signage. The sign is at the opposite corner of the area with the smallest letters as possible. Beware of their car park!

mike Posted on Google 11 months ago

Negative experience: Scam warning. Given 7mins to talk, told categorically by vet not allowed to discuss any other ailment with dog will have to book another £58 consultation and he was late for his lunch !, vet hardly looked at the obvious boil on dogs leg, wanted to send sample off at huge cost when an actual decent vet should have been skilled enough to visually diagnose and suggest proper course of action. We were prepared to be robbed when we went to this Scammer but the attitude and rudeness was disgusting... avoid this place at all costs, money is there only concern

Mark Arnold Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Very disappointed by this practice, I used only once when my dog needed emergency treatment, they only seem to want to offer tests at very extortionate rates (£300.00) a time, once the first tests were carried out, they very quickly suggested a raft of more tests. When the claim for insurance was made, the practice changed its original diagnosis, so that the claim was refused, leaving me with a bill of over £1000.00. I was their client not the insurance company. Beware !

Fantastic experience: Been with this vets for 12 years with our 2 cats. Always had a pleasant experience( as far as a vets can be). Reception friendly, vets are knowledgable and all have been great with our cats. Mainly we come here for annual vaccs but have had a few visits from cat fight infections and been treated professionally and fairly. Fortunately no major costs yet but with senior cats I will at some point and hope to have same experience. As for those moaning they got a fine from parking in a private, well signed car park to use other businesses they are clearly not customers of this vet and such reviews are left in bitterness. As a customer with 2 cat carriers to carry and children in tow I would rather be able to park in the vets car park nearby rather than negotiating with those popping into Subway and Tescos customers hogging the spaces.

Negative experience: Spurred by seeing a FB post about other people's bad experiences I thought I'd share mine. 2020 - I'd been with them for a few years already with my older cat. My new kitten was about 8 months old, he had just broken his foot - when I took out insurance I looked up average vet bills UK and covered that, £1000. The owner, head vet, whatever his name is, came out after seeing my cat and said he needed scans and surgery etc. we said how much will it be - "Four to five". We replied "hundred?"... "Thousand". Shows you what kind of guy you're dealing with. We asked what do we do, is there payment plans, what happens if we can't afford it? "No payment plans. We can amputate, or euthanasia". Cold, absolutely vile experience. After panicking for a day and my cat not being able to urinate due to his injury (dangerous) only one vet in Southampton came to our rescue, The Vet in Millbrook who saw him, scanned and operated in the same day for £3500 and have been nothing but amazing ever since. My cat is 4 now, happy and healthy, jumping and not in any pain. Even thinking about it now again I feel sick that somewhere like this can still operate and make money off of people. That minted owner would have been laughing to the bank whilst my cat either lost a leg for no reason or was killed for no reason other than greed. It's genuinely putrid. Avoid at all costs.

Rachel Hickman Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Twice referred to my loving and gentle cat as 'aggressive' in front of me, because he was clearly frightened and didn't like being handled by a nervous person. Will not be returning.

Colleen Hampton Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Unfortunately the experience we’ve had just recently was awful. Our rescue staffy that already has issues with trust had broken his toenail off. It was hanging by a thread. The male vet was insistent on making sure we clean the wound and cover it. The nail bed was obviously incredibly sore. After around ten mins of fighting with him to get a muzzle on asking me to leave the room and actually shouting at the poor dog to STOP IT we left. With a big bill and without any treatment for obvious reasons. He will now not entertain the idea of going back to these vets and I wouldn’t put him through it again. The young girls were wonderful but I would be very reluctant to have this vet look at any of my animals ever again. Such a shame as our previous experiences have all been pretty good.

Fantastic experience: I just wanted to express my thanks and rate my previous experiences at Vets4Pets in Bitterne as very positive, hence the 5 stars. I am surprised to read of many recent negative reviews. I've received nothing but friendly assistance and quick help whenever I have needed it for my kitten. I did notice a poster in the reception area informing customers of their zero tolerance policy concerning abuse towards the staff, which I think unfortunately indicates what many of the staff members may have to endure. I'm grateful for all the help, advice and care shown so far for me and my little furry friend and would recommend them to others thinking of registering their pet here.

Leah Hartnell Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Hit with a lot of unexpected costs for a routine procedure , essentially extorting an extra £100 off us for basic things like painkillers etc. these costs were not mentioned up front, and we felt terrible so ended up getting them for the sake of our animal. But if they had just mentioned it all at booking then we would have been prepared to pay for all these extra things. Terrible ethics for extorting cash out of your animal with last minute expenses.

Negative experience: I have been just thinking about moving my cats from one to the new one vet surgery in the local vets unfortunately Customer Service here is poor and not very friendly. I’m not sure if I really want to join the membership for my cats here becayse getting some informations about membership and payments were very difficult. Staff appeared to be quite unfriendly and almost like they didn’t want to talk to us…

Laur 5195 Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Car park is ridiculous, why have a subway and tesco near the vets if you cannot use the car park if roads are busy to park. Got a parking fine for parking there for 5 mins so I could pop into tescos. Maybe move the vets to another place so people don't get conned

stephen rooke Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Very disappointed with the vet Andrew. No social skills. Very rude and dismissive. Staff rho very friendly. I've now decided to move my dog to another vet. Wouldn't recommend this pratice

Daniel Dougherty Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: I came here on Saturday, by chance at 12:30 as was asked by a family member to see if they had availability to register a dog. This dog is currently registered with Vets4Pets, just at a different site and my family member lives local to THIS site. When I arrived, I parked, walked up to the vets door, which was locked. I'd missed them by half an hour as they close at 12 on a Saturday so I called the family member to advise them. I then walked back to my car, finished the call and then drove away. 5 minutes 35 seconds in total. Now I'm getting a Parking ticket apparently as I couldn't input my Reg Number (due to them being closed) and have been told that the stay is limited to 180 seconds, although this is not shown on any of the signs outside. I parked in their bays as I was intending to go into the Vets. Called and spoke to reception but they aren't interested. As far as they're concerned I could be just trying to wriggle out of a ticket. I asked them to check the CCTV to show I only walked to the Vets, tried the door, saw it was closed then walked back to my car. I was told that that - irritatingly inconveniently for me - their camera doesn't cover their door, only the entrance and exit to the car park or they would've seen it for themselves. They won't help me at all. Thanks.

Leanne Ashmore Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: So disappointed. Been with this vet since it opened and always had a very good experience. The receptionists are all lovely, especially Charlie but the Vet Andrew is very rude and lacks compassion, it's all about the money with him now. When I phoned to say I was moving vets to another practice it was actually him who answered the phone. I told him him I was taking my 2 dogs to another vet now and he didn't even bother to ask why ! Obviously so arrogant as not bothered about losing a customer of 15 years .

Nitka B Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Very unpleasant first and definitely last visit. I was practically excused from surgery as I didn't have health history of my 2 mouth old kitten. I wasn't informed that I needed to presented one and also that it needed to be send by previous vet by official email. Kitten was only once in different Vet to be checked and wormed by the breaders. He supposed to be vaccinated first time as he never was vaccinated before, he is only 2 mouth old. How much health treatment history can 2 months years old kitten have? Waste of time and trauma for the little one to be drag all that way and back

Leanne Close Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Not impressed, used these guys for years. Vet seemed unbothered by my case. Didnt mention the cost of what he was doing, was referred to another vets as couldn't help. Wasnt aware of cost until told to go to reception. Elderly blind dog owner who has lost faith in this practice after 11 years. Only plus is quick appointments. Practice seems unhappy

Beata Sobczyk Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Used to be with them for years. Now they changed their policy, didn't inform about it at all and than, when my dog was ill didn't want to help her because of the new policy. Be aware they require 2 blood tests £250 each every time you go abroad holiday with your pet. Completely untrustworthy place!!!

Richard Barber Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: The vets are fine. Its the company that have permission to extort people for parking there. I took my dog to the vets, inputted my reg on the computer as instructed and still recieved a" must pay now or you will lose everything you own" pressure letter. The vets cancelled it for me and they are still hounding me. Excuse the pun.

Adele Carter Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Lovely place the staff are wonderful, caring and always friendly and fully explain what is going to happen. My cats purred the whole time even though they were going to have an operation and was told they were the same post op, testament to their caring staff. Highly recommend using this vet practice.

Amanda Reiman Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Appointment was booked for on the day which was good. The vet did a very thorough check over of Joey. Treatment explained and medication labels clear. Staff always friendly and helpful.

Cath T Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: The new young gentleman vet (didn’t get his name sadly) was just so kind and thorough with Ziggy. He really seemed to check him over and talked me through his findings. I was really happy with the service.

1966uk123 Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: My dog just can't seem to hold down water for the past 3 weeks now , we have paid for two visits one was £130.00 and the other was well over £400 for some tests to be sent away for checking. After all was done and checked we were told nothing was to be found to be wrong with him, but thinking were they all the right tests to be done as he is still not holding water down . Very expensive vets for no answers to be told and never any follow ups either over the phone you have to chase them all the time im very dissapointed they seem to treat you as a cash machine they take it and off you go. Not like the old days not too long ago when they were really interested in getting your pet healthy just money money money in my opinion

Sophie Iceton Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Lovely staff, really friendly and my puppy is always very happy to see them when she's been for her vaccinations! The vets took the time to answer all my questions. Very impressed! Update- we've been coming here for nearly a year and still very impressed by their service. Our dog is quite nervous and they handle her really well

Sanda Zimante Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: I hope this review leaves a stamp on how these vets treat their patients! And it's not the first. First of all would like to say receptionists were lovely, and not a fault of theirs! Took my beloved guinea pig to be seen due to a cyst she has. Receptionists scheduled a visit very quickly, thank you. But went downhill from there. We were called in vets room, Susan was weighed, he then proceeded to squish and squeeze her lump until cyst contents burst and were left uncleaned. Few taps on the keyboard to be referred to someone in Andover for surgery and only advised for area to be kept clean after I had asked! No other recommendations, no other comments, and we were there no longer than 10 minutes, but were told to pay £24 for consultation and £25 or around that sum for a referral. Just for your beloved guinea pig's lump to be squished, contents left uncleaned, 10 minutes later nearly £50 short. If you own a guinea pig, LOOK ELSEWHERE. Very, very disappointed.

Niki Lowndes Posted on Google 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: As always, the service was fantastic. Charlie and the reception team, are friendly, caring, welcoming and professional. The vet I saw, sadly didn't catch his name, was brilliant with Flint. He listened to my concerns, and he put my mind at rest. He was kind, caring and supportive of my needs.

Anita Graham Posted on Google 4 years ago

Negative experience: Not as good service as once was due to lots of different vets. The prices have gone up which I expect but they have gone up over 10%. The other issue is even though you are now allowed in the vets this one still makes you wait outside while they examine your pet which I do not believe is the right way to go if they want full information from you. Would go elsewhere but can't find another vet who is taking on patients!!

Sarah Hobson Posted on Google 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: There is nothing more I can say about this practice other than they are absolutely amazing. Every time I have had to bring my bunnies up they are so caring and explained everything to me from how to care and how to administer meds. I wouldn’t go to any other vet. Just a shame we are unable to go in still

Hayley Hamlett Posted on Google 4 years ago

Negative experience: My Luna has been registered with them since we had her. She needs 4 surgeries and we need preapproval on all procedures. Finally we are very near getting the first surgery she desperately needs. We got a pre-approved payment from Pet Plan insurance company BUT am now told Bitterne Vets4Pets won't proceed as won't deal with PetPlan insurance anymore! Very unreasonable at this point in our long journey. I am totally mortified after all this waiting and watching my Luna in pain! Other vets don't want to help either they as would need to start all over again and I don't have the money to do so. Look her in the eye and tell her you don't want to help!

Sharon Henley Posted on Google 4 years ago

Negative experience: Well what can I say this place is so disorganised. Have taken my friend here several times with her fur baby as she does not drive and always kept waiting outside for at least 20 minutes after appointment time. One day was really hot just left outside with her fur baby and had to ask how longer we would be waiting from a member staff the response was don't know. We also had to ask for water for her fur baby. I am glad my fur baby does not go to this vet. My vets are much more organised than this.

Magdalena Szczypior Posted on Google 4 years ago

Negative experience: Today I should have a routine checkup for my French Bulldog. Before entering, one of the doctors told me to put a muzzle on the dog's mouth. Since when a French bulldog wears a muzzle, and why a muzzle to check a dog. The vets refused to visit me and check the dog. Apparently, they are not people with a calling and do not know about animals!

Vicky Sheath Posted on Google 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great service. They saw Tilly the same day I rang, They were very busy with other customers but went out of there way to help get my dog seen and get the help she needed. Lovely staff.

K S Posted on Google 4 years ago

Negative experience: This vet practice not providing advice which they should be doing instead of keen on selling the most expensive procedure or test they offer. They will sell you blood test £400. They said it is up to you without much option. It is a lot of money but it isn't the issue it is them offering it even before seeing our cat. Speaking to other vets and cat breeders suggested we should try out few things before doing blood test. Beware all

rosina dawson Posted on Google 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: Friendly efficient staff at all levels made to feel confident in the diagnosis,. Caring thoughtful vet explained everything we needed to know leading to correct diagnosis and treatment. Will highly recommend. Thankyou for treating Charley so well.

Lauren Wilton Posted on Google 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: Nice and friendly staff. Free parking provided you give over number plate for staff to note down. Service has always been very good as my dog and cat get they're check ups done in a timely and professional fashion. Other appointments are not too difficult to get a hold of if there is something wrong.

Mandy Payne Posted on Google 5 years ago

Positive experience: I do feel that it is really difficult to get appointments at vets at present and had to keep on trying for this neutering of my cat as it had been postponed all last year and I therefore had 2 litters of kittens and didn’t want her to have anymore as she fought to find a way to escape the house to mate. They did accommodate me in the end which was fantastic but I don’t understand why in this pandemic the prices of everything have gone up and increased so much it doesn’t seem fair at all when we are only desperately trying to be responsible owners. This does annoy and frustrate me a lot. My cat is small in size and it cost us nearly £160, which I feel is a lot of money. When I enquired at another vets it was going to be £80 which is half the cost of what I paid but they are not performing operations at the moment which seems ridiculous to me really and so just had to book with you and pay the nearly double cost of procedure so we could protect her as she’s not even 2 yet. I am grateful though that she was accommodated by pets 4 vets as she was going on call again and getting herself very distressed and wouldn’t eat, and there’s not much of her to begin with so I am very pleased that she has had procedure and she was very well looked after by the team at Bitterne so thank you all.

rachel hyde Posted on Google 5 years ago

Fantastic experience: The staff are always so friendly and helpful- due to the pandemic we are unable to go into the waiting room and my kitten was very nervous of the noise as next to a busy road. The receptionist that came out to get my reg number of the car I asked was there a wait at all my cat was very nervous and looked really scared. The receptionist was fantastic and ask if she wanted to take my cat and put her in the waiting room so she wasnt so nervous and could be in a quiet place while she waited for the vet to be free. This really shows that they care. Vet Andrew is always so kind and has a very calming placid personality. I do hate not being able to be in the room with my cats but understand we have to do this at the moment to keep everyone safe but I trust Andrew when he takes my cats into the consultant room they will be looked after. Also Andrew explains everything so well and clearly and always gives me options to help my cat. The rest of the staff are always lovely and I think it can get very busy in the store but they don't stop being helping and nice even when under pressure. Some people get frustrated if vets are running behind but i do understand that some times this is out of vets control if an emergency comes in. If the person it was their pet that had an emergency I think they would be happy to wait a little longer so this is why I try and reason with nurses if they are behind. Thanks Bitterne stuff for all your hard work and helping our pets to stay safe and well.

John Watson Posted on Google 5 years ago

Negative experience: I took my cat in as they requested at 8.30am and because of the virus we had to knock the door to let them know I had arrived and when they opened the door I went to hand over the cats box with Louis in it and was told by a young girl that I couldn’t come in and I replied I know Im trying to give you the cat box and her reply was hold on someone will be to take some details, I said its really windy and its freezing can you put the box inside please but she looked at the person that was on the reception and walked off. Then another girl came out and started to try and sell me extras while this is December and the wind is really strong and there was no care for the animal at all. And then they wanted to start to take payment next again this is 15mins later still standing outside with other customers with other staff trying to sell more stuff to them. Its a shambles and for the vet who was building his flat pack in the vet waiting room while we all waited outside with our animal it was sickening non-caring attitude in people who are supposed to be looking and caring for animals. The waiting area had lots of seats and was quite large so we could have been inside with plenty of room for social distancing and being safe so shame on you pets 4 vets it takes nothing to care.

Lion Wood (Lionwood) Posted on Google 5 years ago

Negative experience: Scamsters, my dog died a year ago but they sent me a parking ticket for using their car park for 10 minutes , when I was 50 miles away and will happily prove it , followed by numerous threatening scam letters from made up debt companies all mailed from the same source. I look forward to seeing you in court! Makes me wonder how they treat their animals.

Dan Posted on Google 5 years ago

Fantastic experience: Excellent care from my first call to the reception team, to the person who greeted me on arrival. The vet I saw was polite, friendly and explained everything very clearly for me. Very satisfied with the price as well and will be using this vets for all future needs.

Negative experience: Every time we go there for an appointment we have to wait at least half an hour as the vet is never ready but when we where 3 minutes late for the vacs boost, they didn’t let us in.. very unprofessional and not understanding at all. They told us that because of the covid we have 10 min slots and they can’t fit us in all tho the boost takes 5 minutes. We bought a vacs for life service as it was suggested by the vet and since we paid it was only bad experience with it, every year they want us to pay extra money (they always make an excuse that we didn’t go directly on the same day as last year etc.) That was probably why they didn’t let us in when we where late as they yes no more money from us as they service is already paid for. Once we had an appointment for the biopsy of a lump but when we came for the appointment no one seemed to know about it and nothing was done. When we vaccinated our dog they couldn’t stamp pet passport and we where asked to leave the it with them until it’s going to be done, they said they’ll call once it’s done, after couple months with no one contacting I called and asked for it. No one knew anything about it and when I came to pick it up it was still not stamped. All tho we still have “free” annual boosts for our dog we are changing the clinic, when I told the receptionist about that she was more than happy to delete us from the list.. I don’t recommend this place!

Stacy Bridle Posted on Google 5 years ago

Negative experience: My rabbit had to have his yearly vaccinations. I had the Vac4Life, (which says is a one off payment for Vaccinations but every year I went back they always said there was another upgrade on the Vac and to pay out more. I took my rabbit for his yearly vacs, the vet came out said the rabbit had jolted when he took him out of the box and now had no feeling in his back legs. I took him home and took him back the next morning to see if was any better... he wasn't so only option was to have him put down. I feel this could have been avoided if the vet asked what his character was like as he was quite shy and nervous. The first every time i took him there a different vet took him out and dropped him on the floor. so i wouldn't recommend

Chris Green Posted on Google 5 years ago

Fantastic experience: Due to Covid 19 lockdown, we were required to wait outside for our appointment, this was explained in a note on the door. A nurse then came and took our dogs, one at a time, to the vet who checked their general health and administered the vaccination. The nurse then explained the outcome of their appointment with the vet, their general health and that they had been well behaved. This practice is always excellent, even during trying times.

Fantastic experience: I did a lot of research before we selected our vets. I wanted a personal experience every time we went and I wanted to feel like they knew and loved my pet. I am so glad I did and I can safely say I made the right choice. Our puppy Friday loves going to the vets she's spoilt for attention, and adored. They are so friendly here. Always happy to answer a question or listen to a concern. We particularly love Carly who always gives Friday a treat every time and wants to say hello. Honestly I couldn't say nicer things about the vets either they are always so friendly and loving with her and I just feel so much more confident when I leave.

Charmaine Richardson Posted on Google 6 years ago

Negative experience: The treatment of my pet was absolutely fine and the staff were very friendly, however, what I was charged for was very expensive. They also tried telling me I needed to take my pet back for further treatment at a cost of over £400 , when I had already spent this on the initial emergency visit, so I took my pet to another vet for a second opinion. The second vet confirmed what was wrong with her but was shocked at what Vets4Pets had recommended having done next and said this was completely unnecessary at this time! Absolutely disgusted that some people use the love of your pet to try and make money out of you!!!

Kristina Kibickaja Posted on Google 6 years ago

Negative experience: Incompetence and negligence at its best. Joined Vets4Pets Bitterne to save money on routine preventative care for my cat. Vet ended up applying bravecto flee treatment so low and carelessly that my cat ended up ingesting all of it in a few hours. My cat developed difficulty to breath due to severe hyper-salivation and it kept biting on its tongue as it was numb. Luckily after taking it to out of hours vets, oxygenating him, clearing his mouth and shaving his back and washing him to avoid further ingestion it recovered. I contacted Vets4Pets and all I received was denial and disinterest. Response I received was: we asked Katarina (vet applying treatment) to your cat and she reports applying it correctly. No apology, no further interest in looking into the situation. I referred my complaint to veterinary complaints mediation service, but Vets4Pets refused to engage. If they aren’t competent to apply a routine treatment or have any interest in learning from their mistakes, how can they be trusted with looking after sick pets... I will be contacting royal college of veterinary surgeons to alert them of the incident to ensure this isn’t One of many incidents and practice is safe.

Fantastic experience: Vets4Pets Bitterne has always been an excellent health provider for my animals. I've got a cat and a dog under their care and they always go the extra mile to offer appropriate services without pushing for unnecessary expensive extras. When my dog had a cough and ruined a couple of his antibiotics by cracking and spitting them out they gave us free replacements and extra help and advice on successfully administering them if he wouldn't take them in food. We've had to bring the dog in multiple times as he's always into something, and they are really great with sorting the insurance forms and putting him at ease. They are good with the cat too, who is very scared of strangers. We recommend them very highly. When my other cat passed away they sent us a lovely card and they helped her in her final years of life managing arthritis etc very well. My only warning to visitors by car is that the car park is monitored by cameras and you must use their electronic signing in system or risk being fined by the private firm monitoring it. The reception staff are very good at reminding people when they enter, but my husband did get a fine once when this was first introduced as he parked there late at night when the vets were closed and he was getting something from Tesco. Those rules apply 24/7 so don't park there unless you are going in the vets and remember to sign in your vehicle.

Negative experience: Never again will I use these.Rip of Merchants..didn't even offer a blood test. Only if the dog had a Scan aswell £500 really?? .money isnt the issue. Its the attitude of the staff so unpleasant and unprofessional aswell. Everyone was so hot in the waiting room one Receptionist said I'm ok so not to worry about the patients. So Eventually the Aircon did go on .glad I went to see a 2nd vet somewhere else who did a fantastic job.. Now because they didn't do their job properly unfortunately the dog has now passed away... All the vet was interested in if she was Spade

Fantastic experience: These wonderful people look after my pets as if they were their own. They look after owners as well as animals and the team made my beloved dog's final few weeks happy and comfortable. I wholeheartedly recommend them and wouldn't go anywhere else.

Negative experience: I recently went to bitterness Vets4pets with my cat with a suspected broken tail. The reception staff were very helpful and got me an appointment on the same day as they said if it’s a suspected broken tail I should get an appointment ASAP. I have 4 month twins at home so had to arrange childcare at the very last minute to take my cat into the vets. When I arrived I was seen half an hour late and 3 people that arrived after me were seen before me. When I eventually saw the Vet Katrina she was very cold and uninterested in my cat. She attempted to look at my cats tail but jumped at an occasional hiss even though I was up the front end holding her still. Katrina had extremely poor bedside manner. She did not explain anything to me only that my cat needed an X-ray, that they couldn’t do it today and how much is was going to cost. I explained my home situation and ask to see if they could do the X-ray today. She went and asked the nurses and when she came back just explained the cost to me and got a printed copy of the bill and asked me to sign. I’m asker her whether the procedure was going ahead today she said yes and saw me out to reception to pay. I had to constantly ask her questions and all I got were one word answers. On waiting to pay I asked her about what would happen if the tail is broken and she said bluntly “it would have to be amputated”. She showed no emotion or empathy. Once I paid the bill she walked off with my cat not enabling me to say goodbye. I was completely dissatisfied with my experience there and will not be happily returning soon.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this practice is the best vet I have ever been to. The customer service was brilliant. This was my first visit to the vets with my cat Bruce and Jo was fantastic with him. They really love animals and I will most definitely be registering my other cat Bob with them the receptionist staff are friendly and helpful and really knowledgeable My daughter has autism and struggled with leaving her cat they didn’t judge and included her every step of the way and even sent her a picture to reassure her. A very autism friendly practice !! Thank you

Fantastic experience: Our vets. Very professional and very friendly. Busy all the time but then you would expect that as they are good. Went in the other day and noticed that on the reception desk was a candle and a request for quiet and respect as someone was having a loved family pet put to sleep. What a lovely gesture at a difficult time for a grieving family.

Negative experience: Avoid. Prices quoted on website are not honoured in store. Unhelpful staff. Vet said that they have to promote the products the owner wants to sell and they they are not allowed to give their own opinion regarding any matters, such as what medicine is best or if certain injections are necessary. The vet simply and honestly said 'i get told what to promote, sorry, I cant tell you what I actually think'. The worst at I have ever attended, so many better options available around this area, so I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Negative experience: Would never use this place on principal due to their despicable endorsement of a CCTV based parking firm which could land you a £100 demand for simply entering their car park mistakenly (which is situated between two completely different establishments, and not as clearly signed as it should be) any time, any day of the year. Other people have said how they are unable to actually do anything (aside from offering sympathy, genuine or not) to remove charges but if they had any conscience, they would pay out for their own signage to avoid having people fall into the same "trap".

Positive experience: Very friendly staff, who clearly like animals. They offer good value "lifetime care" package for various animals ( rabbits, cats, & dogs. Possibly others too). Where for an upfront fee, any subsequent treatment -usually annual vaccines is free for life. (We took out one for our dog - it pays for itself after the third year). Consultation prices are about the same as other vets. Treatments can be a little pricey. There is allocated free parking , but it's operated by an external parking company so you must make sure to log your registration in reception to avoid getting a nasty fine in the post.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful and helpful staff. They were great when our dog was ill and were very supportive when we had to make the very difficult choice to put her to sleep. I have never had any issues with them and we will certainly be returning to them when we get another pet. As others have said, if you park in their car park make sure you note your registration number down at reception to avoid a charge. On the plus side, it meant I didn't have to carry a dog who could barely walk too far because the car park was full of people using it for Tesco instead.

Negative experience: I made the very big mistake of going into reception as I was passing by to enquire about moving my dogs to their practice. Given all the usual pamflits and list of charges etc. It all seemed fine. A few weeks later I got a parking charge of £100 In the post. I've since been on their website and it states quite clearly to register your vehicle registration with reception on arrival. This is clearly a problem that has arisen many times. I find it strange that they would not then ask me, A potential new customer, if I had parked in their car park and instead let me walk out their and continue with my day. I called the vets to dispute this, the lady on the phone didn't seem bothered about this at all, she said "oh sorry about that, it happens all the time, you're not the only one. Next time you come make sure you tell us your registration number" Thankfully there are many other vets in the area, without this excessively high parking charge.

Negative experience: My experience with this company is an unfortunate one. They treat their customers poorly once out of the door, as i found out when I parked nearby (in an empty car park) for a few minutes only to receive a bill for £100. What's worse is that you can't speak to anyone over the phone to dispute this. If vets4pets are happy to endorse this sort of opportunistic money grab scheme, I find myself unable to rate them anything more than one star and WILL NOT use them in future.

Negative experience: My experience at this vets was awful. They ripped me off by telling me that my pet could be saved and in the end I had to take her to the night hospital the same day to be put to sleep. Paid for nothing and then four months later they have taken £200 near on out of my bank acc due to their error and when I rang up to see when I will get my money back i had a very rude member of staff tell me to patient and they will be in touch. Four days later not a peep from them. They have stole my money and can’t even tell me when I will get it back. Disgusting that they still even have my details after four months to take my money. Fuming

Fantastic experience: I see lots of negative reviews of here, which contradict my experience with Vets4Pets in Bitterne. We recently had to put our cat down, the Vet (Andrew) explained the options to us, gave us time to think and acted with the best interests of the animal throughout. The reception staff were very curteous and friendly towards our situation, and the whole team sent and signed a personal card which was a nice touch. My only thought to improve any further would be to have a private payment/reception opportunity for people/pets who are perhaps a bit 'emotional' following treatment. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: I can't believe the amazing service that we gorg from all the staff at vets4pets after our little girl Pebbles became poorly last weekend. I can't thank Izzy and the team enough for what they did. xx Pebbles also says thank you xx

Negative experience: After spending a lovely 10 minutes trying to get some help from a clearly untrained, but pleasant girl, and getting no where. I decide to try elsewhere. 2 weeks later, I get a charge for 60 quid for parking in their car park. As I didn't make a purchase, they don't have my number plate on record. I won't be using them again

Negative experience: My son went to the tesco express at 8:30 in the evening and yes he did park on the vets forecourt. He was back in his car and gone at 8:39 according to their parking cameras and the letter we received. Tried to appeal but he was still hit with a £100 parking fine. I accept that during the day it could be acceptable but the vets close at 7pm and 9 minutes cost him £100....Tried to appeal and they said there is nothing they can do...

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff from reception to all the vets and nurses. They care about all the animals they see and are also kind with the pets families. The animals are well looked after and I am more then happy to have my Dog in their care. She has recently had a op on her eye and it was done quickly, neatly and she has had the very best of care before during and after. She is very much part of our family and the staff treat her as that . Can not praise them enough.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely lovely staff, extremely helpful and caring. Facilities are spotless and well taken care of, always find the products I require. Our vet (Andrew) is superb and has given us really good care and brilliant advice. All the girls in reception are fantastic, especially Sarah, who goes above and beyond to help us when we need it.

Negative experience: We recently moved house and I asked my son to pop in to this branch to enquire if there were any more local vets 4 pets in our area. We have been a customer of this branch since it opened and our 2 dogs are registered with them. Two weeks later my son received a parking penalty for £60. This branch has employed a company to penalise those who are not their customers so not a problem or as I assumed. A call to the receptionist and I was given this explanation that she was told to say by the manager; "Unless there has been a pre booked appointment a parking penalty will be sent." She apologised several times (worthless) and said that we were not the only ones. So as a customer i asked for the manager to call me back and explain how he can charge for this. A week later and I am still waiting. We have now removed our pets from this branch.

Negative experience: I can't believe this. My GF popped along to this Vets4Pets a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday to see if anyone was in as one of our pet rats was very poorly and we had run out of antibiotics. The practice was closed which was fair enough and half expected, being a Sunday, and that (we thought) was the end of that. Today, however, I have received a £100 parking charge notice from them for "parking" for about 5 minutes. When I spoke to the practice they were unwilling to help out in any way. Well , it looks like this practice is so bad that it can no longer make its money by being a veterinary practice and has, instead, decided to make a sideline by extorting people who use their car park for legitimate purposes. I am extremely livid about this and urge everyone not to use this practice.

Negative experience: I was not going to review this place but I have decided that people need to know so they don't make the same mistake I did. So here it is, as short as I can possibly make it. I have been a client here for several years with my 3 cats and 2 dogs. Needless to say, they made a lot of money out of my business. And let me assure you, that is all they care about. The nurses are great, the receptionists also. But the vets are a joke to their profession. Just a few short examples of what I had endured here. My dog had allergies from a young age and was prescribed atopica, which is not cheap and made them a lot of money. I noticed her gums were swollen and when it was time for a checkup, I mentioned this to the vet who owns the practice and he told me it was nothing to worry about, that a lot of dogs get this. Eventually, she had her teeth cleaned and all those little front lower teeth were gone when I picked her up, not a word was mentioned about it. Apparently the swollen gums were a side effect of the meds and had to be cut away so yes, something to worry about. My cat had a hyperactive thyroid, was allergic to the medication, did not want to eat the special food, and the vet's solution was to cut her open and remove the thyroid. Only because I did my research did I insist on a referral to a clinic which was able to perform radioactive iodine treatment, which cured him. The excuse I got for why it wasn't mentioned? Because it's so expensive, they never referred anyone to it. Then there was my other dog who was booked in for a broken tooth, only to be told there was no broken tooth just before the procedure. We went ahead with teeth cleaning anyway and she had some warts removed. Small warts, yet she looked like the butcher had at her with a carving knife. And finally the dog with the allergies again, who was diagnosed as fine by this practice and stopped breathing in a specialist clinic 10 days after at 6 years of age, because of an undiagnosed pancreatic disease that spread to her kidneys. This was the final straw and I know I should have switched vets much sooner and I only have myself to blame for this. Please do not make the same mistake I did. Take your beloved pet to a small private vet, not a chain like this one. It may be a little more pricey but it is the life of a family member at the end of the day, and that is priceless. I will never set foot in any of the vets4pets practices again.

Fantastic experience: The surgeons helped get my kitten back on track to good health, I would recommend this surgery to my friend's and family because the veterinarians that work at Vets4Pets are really awesome at their jobs of getting animals on the right path back to good and healthy road to success, And the nice staff always comfort you so you don't panic or worry about your pets or pet / companion cause they do know your pet is in awesome hands during any treatments they have to under go thats why I love Vets4Péts for the two reasons and more stated above. Plus I like how the Staff including the receptionists are so nice and friendly which gives the place a pleasant feel going into to the surgery I love that also and the waiting is not bad either, its so nice I Will definitely recommend it. Xx
