Positive experience: ***ASK FOR WRITTEN PRESCRIPTIONS*** Their mark up can be as much as 300% on medication. LOVE LOVE LOVE Sue and Caroline, their all are on the ball and their services are great. If they can't treat your pet they have great recommendations of specialist in the area. I particularly love the fact that the yearly nurse check up can be done in your home which is beneficial for us as we have 6pets registered with them.

Positive experience: ​I highly recommend Animed Veterinary Practice at Shedfield. The entire team has consistently proven to be very polite and understanding when it comes to any matters involving our dog. This compassionate and thoughtful approach makes a huge difference during stressful visits. ​It's true that standard appointments may sometimes require booking about a week or so in advance. However, this is a minor issue when balanced against their exceptional service during crises. They are dedicated to patient care and do absolutely everything they can to get you in for emergency matters immediately. ​The main reason we remain with Animed is the 24/7 availability right at the Shedfield site. Knowing exactly where to go, without having to travel miles to an unknown practice in a time of urgent need, provides incredible peace of mind. This consistent, local emergency care is invaluable. Excellent service!

Negative experience: I’m sharing this because what happened to my aunt and her beloved dog at Animed veterinary hospital ( Botley Road, Shedfield SO32 2JG) is unacceptable and no pet owner should have to experience this. After a procedure using anaesthetic, her dog was demanded to be discharged at 8 pm — despite being clearly very unwell and having not been to the toilet at all since the procedure. My aunt asked if it might be better for the vet to keep him in overnight for monitoring, but was told there was “no clinical need.” She was forced to take him home alone, late at night, and spent the entire night watching her dog panting, distressed, and in obvious pain. She was unable to administer the medication (pain relief and appetite encouragment) as he was so poorly and couldn't stand up or eat or drink at all. When he was taken to Andersonmoores veterinary specialists the next day, he was diagnosed with a severe bone infection that should have been treated when he was first admitted to Animed. Sadly, it was too late and her precious companion had to be put to sleep. This is not just a tragic loss; it’s a failure of care and judgment that caused unnecessary suffering for both My Aunt and her precious dog. We trusted this vet practice, and they let us down in the worst possible way. Negative experience: My poor kitten was born with a purple eye I took him in to be check when it become swollen, they sent me home with eye drops and orals medication, next day I’m calling to be told they couldn’t really do anything until middle of the week I phoned around a fair few other vets and charities as to remove the eye it was costing £1800 nearly but it got so bad over night I was told by rspca and cats protection to take him back in as they have a duty of care even if they went direct through my insurance, which they wouldn’t as I got there I saw the vet and he already had the form for me to sign to say they will be the new owners as it’s best interest for him, I didn’t believe this was the case but I needed him to be out of pain so by guilt tripping me I had no option but to sign him over so now I no nothing at all if he’s out of pain and if he’s ok I just wish they had went direct through my insurance or set a payment plan for me which I would of paid asap I hope there looking after you Dobbie boy

Fantastic experience: We recently had to make the heart-breaking decision to have my horse put to sleep, and the experience was more difficult than I could have ever comprehended. However, the compassion and professionalism we received from Animed Veterinary Hospital, and especially from Alex, made an unbearably painful time a little easier to navigate. Alex was beyond amazing. She was empathetic, thoughtful, and kept in constant communication, offering reassurance and support every step of the way. She went above and beyond, ensuring I had everything I needed without me even having to ask, and her efforts to accommodate my family and me were truly above expectations. It was clear that Alex cared deeply for my horse, as well as us as a family, during such a sensitive time. She provided an exceptional level of care, and I can’t thank her enough for her kindness and understanding. Thank you, Alex, for everything

Fantastic experience: We had a collar issue with our cat and Sandy on reception found one at another branch and we collected it 30 minutes later.. Thankyou Sandy for going above and beyond..

Negative experience: Thank you to the vets and nurses for looking after our dog. However, very low star for the lead receptionist who was very rude when we were going through a distressing time with our dog. I was shocked how rude she was when she could see we were struggling, very rude and caused a lot of emotional distress.

Negative experience: After making a complaint for a total lack of car given to my dog and him in turn being sent home to essentially die, I still have not been given the names of the vets and vet nurse involved. Instead the director decided to conduct an internal investigation, that surprise surpise, sided with their vets. I would still like the names so that I can take this matter to the RCVS. I will not stop until someone is held accountable.

Fantastic experience: I will be forever great for Jo the nurse at Locks Heath and Jack the vet. My 9months old cocker mabel became poorly very quickly. I can't honestly thank you enough for going above and beyond for her and me. I had regular updates throughout the day and a lovely call from Jo this morning checking up on her. Negative experience: I have only just registered my pets in this surgery after moving to Hampshire, and am already unhappy enough that I am going elsewhere. When I took my cats for an initial health check and vaccines, the vet seemed inexperienced and had no knowledge of dietary needs. No health check was provided at all, I had to prompt her to look at their eyes, ears, teeth etc. No guidance was given about my elderly cat’s very obvious dental health issues which is causing him problems. I was told (after asking) that he may need an xray but they do not have the facility in the surgery. She proceeded to then say “just to warn you, it gets quite costly if he needs to have extractions”. I left with no referral made or any guidance at all. One of my cats developed a huge lump on the site of injections, which could be a sign of post vaccine sarcoma, and he stopped eating. I called and was told the systems were down, and another branch was going to contact me. No call was ever received. Today, I called again asking for an appointment for a blood pressure check and dental descaling for my older cat. Again the systems seem to be down, and I was told a vet would call me. It is now past working hours and no call was made. Absolutely disappointed with the level of disregard for animals health demonstrated. Will be looking to register elsewhere and do not recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience: I recently took my 19 year old Burmese cat Sebastian to Animed Shedfield and he was seen by Jacek. Jacek was so amazing with him, really kind and genuinely caring. I couldn't be happier with the outcome and Jacek's treatment plan for Sebastian. There has already been a marked improvement in his quality of life. I would highly recommend Jacek for the care of your animal. Thank you so much!

Fantastic experience: My thanks and appreciation for assisting my dog Reah on Christmas Eve, a very sad time but dealt with most compassionately and professional by the staff on the day.

Fantastic experience: Have had amazing care and service from Animed Shedfield during the time that our two cats were with them. Now unfortunately passed right to the end they were amazing. A thoughtful card and very caring and apologetic staff when I called to cancel a last appointment, which by the way they had already done. Fantastic experience: I can’t recommend Marc Worley enough he is the BEST Veterinarian I’ve ever seen and I would travel to any practice that he was at … ‍⚕️ I trust him with my dogs and they in turn trust him.. Fantastic experience: All staff are very polite and respectful understanding and very compassionate I can’t thank them enough for what they did for our beautiful 12.1/2 year old rough collie Autumn that we sadly lost in May this year many little details that we’ve never experienced with other vets in the past from a sympathy card paw prints and some fur but as we said our final goodbye they were extremely patient and allowed us the amount of time we needed to say our final goodbye and when we collected her ashes as we wanted a private cremation so we could bring her back home they were lovely as they handed her back to us we can’t recommend them enough thank you

Fantastic experience: Since moving to Animed Veterinary Hospital as our vets we have been totally satisfied with service we receive. All staff we have dealt with are friendly, professional and so helpful. I always recommend to others. Mark has been particularly good with all the advice for one of our older arthritic dog. Today we had the sad job of a home euthanasia for our 19 yr old cat - a hard decision but carried out professionally and so kindly by Paola and a lovely nurse. Well done Animed Shedfield - keep up the good work!!

Fantastic experience: Ample parking, friendly welcoming and helpful staff. Large open waiting area with a more secluded area for anxious cats. Food, treats and accessories for sale including tooth paste and brushes for furry friends of course.

Fantastic experience: I'm Poppy the Weimaraner, and I had my laparoscopic spay today at Animed, a fast paced specialist surgical facility who find laparoscopic work routine and very straightforward. My surgeon, Antonia Auty was personally recommended to my Daddy by another vet and I'm grateful they did. She explained everything very clearly to Mum and Dad, and constantly gave us the opportunity to change our mind about the procedure. She is supported by exceptionally personable and professional nurses and admin staff. Dad said average wouldn't last long at Animed. Lastly it's cheap! I'm really not sure how they made money out of me today. Thank you Antonia, nursing and admin team for keeping me safe and mum and dad happy xxx

Fantastic experience: I was in desperate need of a vet for my dog Scoobie who became ill suddenly. His usual vet Vets4 pets said that as it was nearing the end of the day they would see him but said if he needed any treatment they would send us to an emergency vet! I rang around several vets and eventually called Animed and spoke to Vicky at Hedge End. Vicky bent over backwards to help us. She got us booked into the Shedfield Hospital where we were seen by Antonia, She examined Scoobie,then did some tests and found that he had cancer. I made the very hard decision to send my lovely boy to heaven ,Antonia was absolutely caring and understanding. The nextmorning I brought Scoobie back and another lovely vet who's name I cannot remember was extremely gentle with Scoobie and helped him on his way over the rainbow where he waits with friends until we meet up again. I cannnot reccomend these lovely people enough. They even sent me a sympathy card which was totally unexpected and rather lovely

Fantastic experience: We've been bringing our (now 15+ year old) Westie here his entire life, so I guess that's a recommendation in itself. Our last visit was for a snuffly nose, which the vet (Louise) identified as a nasal infection. Following a short course of antibiotics, this has now cleared up and he's back to his old self. Barney isn't a fan of visiting the vets, but Louise handled him brilliantly and he really took a shine to her - I'll spare her blushes by saying how he showed his affection, but let's just say "there's life in the old dog yet"!

Fantastic experience: We needed a vet on a Saturday night after our cat decided to dine on our cut flowers. We received prompt and friendly service and within an hour of our initial call our mog had been treated and was back home recuperating.

Fantastic experience: We took our dear boy to them on Easter Sunday. He'd become extremely poorly Saturday morning. We took him to our vets. Then on Sunday he became worse very quickly. After extensive tests, it was found that it was in the kindest thing to let him go. The vet kept us informed throughout. We didn't want him to suffer more. The reception and vets we so kind.

Fantastic experience: 4 months ago I rescued a kitten that was separated from his mother way too young and as a result had a number of health concerns. He's had to visit the practice quite regularly (we've been roughly twice a month since we got him). With the help of the vets at Shedfield, the little fella is much better and enjoying life. Every single visit, the reception staff have been fantastic, both on the phone, via the online enquiries and in person. I would give more than 5 stars if I could.

Fantastic experience: Managed to get a same day appointment for our Welsh Terrier who had a small growth on the side of his head. Seen on time by a really nice vet who put Merlin at ease and trimmed away the clump of fur around the growth very gently. Turns out it is a mole/wart and will need watching, but nothing to be too concerned about. Good advice given with the possibility of having it removed at his next booster if that is what is needed.

We are new to the area and had a problem with our dog Toadies paw, which meant a little operation to investigate and also his skin condition flared up. Both Hedge end and Shedfield have been absolutely fantastic. Down to the receptionist's, nurses and vet's. My hubby normally doesn't like vet's we've been with previously but is very impressed with Animed vet's. I'm so glad that the 2 practices i called before this one wasn't accepting any new clients ( what are you meant to do when your furbabies are ill and you are new to the area and can't get a vet!?) Negative experience: I haven’t had any great experiences with this location. My primary location is Hedge End, and they refer this location when suitable. My husband was told we would receive a welcome pack (I think it would have treats), when we asked the receptionist, she looked clueless and said I’ll inform Hedge End. The second time, we went for an appointment because puppy was acting weird after vomiting (no appetite). We received the medication, but we requested worming/flea treatment and the receptionist said it requires a prescription, it will take a bit. My husband said that’s okay, can you send the request to Hedge End. At this point, it seems like they don’t communicate with other locations, and no idea why we keep getting referred to them.

Fantastic experience: Registered with the practice as wanted the reassurance of 24 hour cover. Haven't needed to use them apart from routine stuff until this week, when my dog became very I'll very quickly. The Duty vet was fantastic, kind caring and professional, explained everything really clearly and I felt my boy was totally safe in her hands. Both she, the night vet and the vet on duty the next day gave regular updates and I cant fault the treatment or their professional but friendly approach. Thank you

Fantastic experience: I changed to this practice as I wanted continuity of care should an emergency occur out of hours. This inevitably happened and I had to use their 24 hour service for my dog. They were immediately able to access all previous records, unlike another out of hours service which led to delays in treatment. During Covid they have been very busy, as has every practice, but always gone above and beyond to get your pet seen if urgent. They also quote in advance for treatment before asking if you are insured. There are also fixed prices for some common treatments like dentals and cruciate ligament ops. Well worth signing up to the Healthy pet club.

Negative experience: I had an appointment booked for my elderly cat for her annual check and vaccinations. I arrived 5 minutes late, as we had had an issue with our cat box, and I apologised on arrival. After waiting for 25 minutes, I was then advised that because I had arrived late, the vet could no longer see me. I have always waited a minimum of 20-30 minutes for appointments throughout my 13 years as a client with 3 -5 pets and have never once complained about this over the years. The receptionist then spoke to the practice manager, who apologised and advised that they were short of vets that day … even though I was initially fobbed off that it was MY fault that my elderly cat could not be seen for her appointment. Sadly, over the years, my impression is that there is absolutely no longer any consistency of vet, no rapport created, nor personal knowledge of your pet. It really does feel like a sausage factory. The practice manager offered me a free consultation and any tests etc would also be free of charge, which I was grateful for, in lieu of my time and inconvenience of needing to return on another day as there were no vets available for the appointment, and the extra stress put on our cat of a return visit. However, whilst the vaccination was carried out free of charge, sadly we were still charged for the required blood test. When subsequently seeking clarification of the dosing requirements for medication prescribed, I was advised that in order to speak to the vet about this, they would need to charge a telephone consultation fee. I will be looking elsewhere to find a veterinary practice, that really treats your pet as the living creature that it is, rather than a revenue boosting object, because that is how we have been left feeling.

Negative experience: Vet was good but reception staff were not helpful and unfriendly, they cancelled my appointment by mistake and then tried to send me off without seeing the vet, when I said I wasn't going anywhere until I was seen, they were very unhelpful, ignored me, and made me feel like I was in the wrong! My poor cat had to crouch cooped up in his tiny cage for over an hour surrounded by various barking dogs!! He was very stressed and I was not happy!!

Positive experience: Very friendly and helpful discussed what they were going to do to my dog. Kept her overnight after operation to make sure okay. Gave clear instructions about after care.

Fantastic experience: Having worked previously in one of their veterinary surgeries and having our 'family' in their care for over 15 years, the Animed team of veterinarians and staff are caring and considerate of the needs of the animals and their families. They were kind and comforting when our beloved labrador came to the end of his life. The team are amazing in the services they provide. I highly recommend Animed.

Fantastic experience: It was the first time using this veterinary hospital. I called to discuss both of my girls (cats) as needed to book them in for an emergancy spay as they had managed to get out :( the ladies on the phone where amazing and soo reassuring. When i got there i was so worried, but again they were really reassuring and explained everytbing to me. I highly recommend and would trust them with my girls
