Negative experience: I have only negative reviews of Medivet. We have a cat who we took with a boil. The vet squeezed it and charged £150. She said it was because it was a bank holiday. The next time we took the cat he wasn’t eating. Vet -less than two minutes said he needs all of his teeth removed £150 and thousands for the teeth removal Medivet are an absolute ripoff

Negative experience: I feel very conflicted about this practice. While the vet I usually see, Simon, has always been diligent and kind, the overall experience of the place leaves a negative impression. One of the other vets I once had to see was very reluctant to look back over my cat's history in order to tell me which medication he had had previously, trying to make me buy one that cost more, until I requested firmly that he keep looking back through the history. This is concerning, and for someone with less money than me could have had an impact on their finances and their cat's health. I have also had repeated instances of reception staff being obtuse. When I have in the past expressed my concern at how I could pay the fees due to not having much money, receptionists do not offer any sympathy and can come across as very cold. A special 'cat waiting area' was added recently, but when I first went it to use it there was a dog with its owner sitting there, which meant I couldn't use it with my cat, and the reception staff did nothing to intervene. There is no point in having such an area unless its use is monitored. There seems to be very little understanding of the different needs of cat owners compared to dogs, or of the fact that some people are actually scared of dogs because of bad experiences and so encouraging dogs to jump up, for instance, should not be something that happens at a vets practice. Additionally, I had to take fecal samples from my cat recently and was given no instructions about where to store them, or how many days the first one would last, or that I would only be able to bring them in Monday to Friday - I had to seek this information out myself from staff. It would be so easy to provide a simple print-out of such critical information to be shared across your many practices, and would really help with owners' stress and their animals' needs. The only reason I remain with the practice is because Simon knows my cat's medical history and I trust him; otherwise I would change to a practice with a specialism in cats and a more caring, client-focussed culture. All these things would be so simple to resolve, and would have such a positive effect on clients' experience.

Fantastic experience: Helped me to understand everything as my cat is a new pet to me I've never owned a pet of my own. She is really settling into the house now playing with boxes and learning to use the laptop. She loves lying on the sofa and does gymnastics to get in and out of the window. She's getting used to going to the vets for her checks and treatment and the staff are very kind to her at Medivet.

Negative experience: Took my dog Bella a St Bernard to this vets yesterdat 5/8/2025 as in pain, not eating and generally a fit active dog but not for a couple of days. Saw vet who did his consultaion and come up with Arthritis which what my wife and I already thought was the problem.... prescribed a 2 week course of tablets to see how it went the tablets are called Galliprant 100mg x 30 tabs.. 2 a day in morning before food. My wife paid bill £203.84 and was told only got 16 and rest will need to be collected next day. I thought that quite expensive but you don't say anything as its your "baby".... Got home and we managed to get Bella to take 2, she went to sleep after....2 hours later Bella ate her chicken lunch..... went to sleep and 2 hours later woke up and I took her for a short walk for toilet....she had a wee and then a poo...... the poo came out like a gushing tap and when i picked it up a lot of blood in it too.....worried now....got home chechked side effects and there is is Diahrea and blood may occur..... e=mailed vets as late requesting call back in morning....9.15 am vet rang and i explained the situation and told them Bella will not be taking anymore and I will return tablets ant requsted a refun for tablets £154.84 was the price for 30 tablets.... I was told abruptly No we do not refund as we have used them.....We had words and she went away to speak to practice manager..... I took Bella for another short walk..she had a poo.....firmer this time but still blood in it...I rang and told vets i was coming in to bring back tablets and get my refund....I even offered to pay for the 2 tablets I had used....I arrived at vets and spoke to a lady who I had spoken to earlier...showed her photos of poo with blood....Ok you can have a refund....good i thought..... Refund is £132.72 she said.....Tablets cost me £154.84 for 30 ....So £154.84 divided by 30 = £5.16 each x 2 = £10.32.. so I want £144.52...... NO the "system" says £132.72 AND i have to wait for their Head Office to pay me.... maybe 7-10 days.......Absolutely furious and totally unhappy about the whole thing..... we will not be going to this vets again...... I have added photos so you can see.......Bella will be visiting another vets shortly we hope for the best

Fantastic experience: Thank you so much to medivet for the kindness shown to my very feisty cat Coco who was all claws and hisses, the vet was was very kind and patient with Coco and did his best for her. Positive experience: 1st time I've needed a vet in years, quick response, good knowledgeable care, shame it's so expensive now but, I guess that's all vets nowadays. Bit upset at having to pay for anorher consultation fee the following day to get the blood test results, I'd of thought that any test price would already include the fee for obtaining the results or what's the point in the test in the 1st place? At least my cat is ok now, let's hope the insurance live up to their adverts too

Negative experience: I have been with Medivet since 2020. I have always been on time for my cat’s appointments, but today I was 13 mins late for my cat’s routine health check - I struggled to get my cat into the carrier(he had a procedure done to unblock his urinary track about a month ago and he is still traumatised by the mere sight of the carrier, he had his urinary track unblocked at Medivet.). The clinic was empty - no other customers. The receptionist was rude and told me to sit down to wait. I waited for 20 mins. They told me the vet is attending to another appointment because I was late. The other customer came out and left. The vet went back to his room and did not call for me. I waited for another 10 mins. I asked the receptionist and she said he was busy writing down some notes and asked me to wait. I told her to tell the vet I have a meeting at work soon so can he see us soon please. She went to the back and talked to the vet again, two mins later she came back out and told me the vet could not see me now because I was late. They wanted to book me in for later today. It’s almost as if they don’t listen. I struggled to get my cat into the carrier in the first place and my cat is so traumatised and stressed to have to come to the vet and they asked me to do it again. So that I can stress him out further and get his urinary track blocked again? Every other time prior to this appointment, I was always on time for the routine check, and they always put me on wait for more than half an hour, one time close to an hour, never do I get to see the vet on time. They said it was because there were emergencies. I understood and I always waited patiently. But when I was late for one time(first time in 5 years), they showed zero understanding and tolerance. If this is their way to treat a loyal customer that’s been with them for 5 years, I will be bringing my custom somewhere else. There was a new nurse that started today - she overheard our conversation and jumped in to help - she did the routine health check and gave me some good advices, I appreciated that. I think her name was Rachel(?) I thanked her for her help. Because of her, I do not need to put my cat through trauma twice today. Nevertheless, I appreciate her professional help but also deeply disappointed that I did not get to talk to a vet especially after a major procedure for my cat.

Negative experience: I don’t usually write reviews, especially negative ones, but I feel that sharing my experience with Medivet could help other pet owners. In March 2024, so over a year ago, we brought our cat to Medivet because she wasn’t looking well—her belly was swollen (fluid retention), she was lethargic and had no appetite. They performed a blood test, and when the results came, we received a call informing us that it was extremely likely she had Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). We were told the treatment would cost around £5,000, but they recommended we put her down as she only had a few weeks to live. They also said there was no point in doing further investigations and advised us to prepare for the worst. I found it hard to accept that such a serious diagnosis was made so quickly based on a single blood test, with no other options explored. Even basic research shows that the cat’s symptoms could point to several different conditions. We decided to seek a second opinion and found a vet clinic that was committed to getting the correct diagnosis. After just one appointment, the new vet told us FIP was unlikely to be the issue and recommended more tests, they did a PCR test just to be sure (this test is done specifically to find out if FIP is present), and guess what, the test came out as negative, this test was never done by Medivet. Through a process of elimination using scans, x-rays, and additional blood work, our now current vet diagnosed our cat with Protein Losing Enteropathy, likely caused by Inflammatory Bowel Disease. With a change to hypoallergenic food and steroid treatment, our cat’s condition improved significantly—her appetite returned, she started playing again, the fluid in her stomach was slowly eliminated naturally, and she’s been stable and happy ever since. We continue regular check-ups, but she’s thriving on the right treatment. Medivet misdiagnosed out cat's condition and advised us is best to put her down. As pet owners, we trust vets to have our animals’ best interests at heart and to explore all possible avenues before making life-altering recommendations. This experience has been deeply disappointing and has completely eroded my trust in this clinic. I would strongly advise other pet owners to seek a second opinion before relying on their diagnosis if their best suggestion is to put the pet down. Had I not consulted another vet, we would have lost our beloved cat, I am beyond grateful that there are vets out there who do their absolute best for animals, and unfortunately Medivet is not one of them.

Negative experience: I went for my dogs nailcut today. I mentioned that she has to go long blood vessels in her nails and that needs to be taken into consideration. I return home and my dog bleeds heavily from one nail. Large stain on my carpet. I returned to practice Now, I can understand that it can happen (although not really after my warnings). But what I do not understand is that I had to virtually drag an apology out of staff and management. That is unacceptable customer service. It doesn't cost anything to apologise for a mistake, which can always happen. But a human mistake has to be apologised for. After all I was made to pay for this mistake!! They offered to pay next cut but whether I dare to return. Not sure.

Fantastic experience: I could not recommend Medivet Coventry more. I have recently moved my dogs from another vet in Coventry and the service has been great. My dog recently had his castration there and I was extremely worried as the last time he had anaesthetic he had a cardiac arrest. The team at Medivet were reassuring throughout, talked me through the drugs they were using and why he would likely not have the same reaction. The team updated me periodically through the day as they knew I was worried. Outside of this, the practice is friendly, prices are reasonable, there’s ample parking and there is good availability for getting appointments.

Fantastic experience: Great vet friendly understanding people they look after the people as well as the pets which is exactly what I need .... give them a try you won't be dissapointed We have not long had out cat Eadie put to sleep everyone was respectful and Tiago was wonderful.... we now have 2 rescue cats and they have been for thier first visit which went very well and everyone was helpful..... thank you

Negative experience: I came here some months ago to have a pet put to sleep at short notice as his registered practice was only giving appointments for immediate pts and not allowing me to book for a few hours later in order to have a bit of time to say goodbye.The guy who I was booked with I explained several times my wishes for my guinea pig and he got it all wrong. I explained I wanted after the one was pts and he had passed, for him to be brought back and be placed with the other for a short time so he could understand his friend was gone. He said okay, and then I found out he actually put them together whilst doing the procedure and only told me afterwards when told me my other one was distressed. Since he explained that with guinea pigs they don’t do it with owner present as they do it in the back, I was asked to stay in the waiting area. So I did not know he had actually taken both guinea pigs instead of taking only the poorly one. I was very upset about this. And when discussing with my partner about the guinea pigs condition whilst waiting, the receptionist gave her opinion on why my guinea pig was poorly, basically blaming me even though he had been to a specialist several times over the past year 40 miles away who has seen many guinea pigs with a similar problem simply due to genetics. I would never ever ever return to this practice. It was bad from start to finish that day.The cremation service they offer is also poor. Maybe that has changed since. No option at the time for extras, no fur clippings or prints given which are often offered with other places. Unless the vet just did not discuss or offfer me this. Was disappointing. Thankfully when I did collect his ashes that receptionist that day was nice to me. But the vet and receptionist the day I took my guinea pig in were horrible.

Negative experience: The vets are ok especially Tiago he shows he loves all animals . I took my staffe to the other vet with the black hair Paul somebody and he wrote on my dogs notes that he was alert but aggressive no this is not the case my dog was mishandled by the vet . He got the dog so worked up that it was impossible for me to put muzzle on him . I am paying for my dog to have a health check but the only vet I trust with my dog is Tiago . The woman who sits at the desk with blonde hair her attitude is rude and abrupt . For example I bought my other dog a Labrador to have a health check My Labrador was bored and started to bark . The woman at the desk asked me to take my dog outside . I could not believe what she was saying ! I think Medevet need to make sure that when they take on reception staff they have knowledge about dog breeds cats . Also they need to make sure that their customer service is better than what I have experienced!!!

Fantastic experience: I don’t normally review but I was really happy I used this practice. Bought my 6 month old puppy in, the place was really clean, the staff were all friendly but you could see they put the pets welfare first, giving advice when to administer other medication after the vaccinations. They were happy to discuss the health plan, which is great considering what you get for (flea and wormer a massive bonus) for the lower cost of a monthly payment which is still less then getting the products separately. Glad to have chose this practice and will definitely be recommending it to others.

Negative experience: Called to explain that i had found a pigeon with an obviously broken wing, that i was hoping to nurse it back to health but needed a little help simply to wrap a bandage over the wing, to keep it against the birds body for support. I even explained i already had the bandage. I was told they wouldn't help and that all they would offer in assistance was to put the bird down. Even when i explained that i hoped to keep the bird at home, to see if it would get better, there was no help. The lady on the phone just kept telling me how the pigeon would be killed by a cat, or a dog or fox, even though i explained, the pigeon could stay with me as absolutely long as necessary. very rude and displaying an extreme lack of emotional attachment to animals - the lady i spoke to today should work at a funeral parlour, not in any kind of healthcare, animal or human. very disappointed that someone with such a hatred of animals that don't have four legs could work in this job. Edit: After contacting the email given in my response, they seemed to have looked into the issue and part of the response was as follows: 'You are correct, sometimes the treatment options are limited for a wild animal and we must take into account their longer term future too and if they will manage. But we do have a duty to all animals. Without knowing the full situation I am limited to what I can comment, but emergency first aid does include euthanasia for some cases, and this is at the vets discretion, but it should be after a full examination of the animal, which from your email, it sounds like this was not carried out.' This, is exactly what i wanted from the response, essentially a commitment to do things this way around and not condemn an animal to death after a 2 minute phone call especially when the medical details were imprecise since i'm just a layman with no vetinary experience - so i'm happy that this advice is being passed onto all their employees.

Fantastic experience: I've been registered at the Binley branch, and the move over to the Coventry branch was super easy. They're fantastic with a pets (rats) and also my young toy poodle. The staff are super friendly and always offer support in answering my many questions about my dog's spay!

Fantastic experience: I had my first appointment at this practice with my cat the other day after moving over from my previous vet due to Medivet being closer to my home and having the best rating in my area and I was really happy with it! The practice smelled of disinfectant which just shows that they kept it all nice and clean, the receptionist was lovely and was chatting with me about my cat's name as we signed in. There was only a short wait to be called in for my appointment and that wait was only because I ended up being about 5 minutes early anyway. When I got called in, the vets were great with my cat who has issues with anxiety so was understandably scared of the new environment. They spoke to him softly and gave him lots of love whilst also giving him a nice thorough check over and conversing with me through it all. The practice was also nicely decorated with up to date information on pet safety. Everything went really well and I thought the pricing was actually very reasonable, especially considering that my previous vet charged over triple the amount I paid here. I also liked the pet plan which I've signed up for, I already have three months of fleaing and worming as well which the vet conveniently timed so that I can come and get more when my cat is due for his vaccinations to save extra trips to and from the practice. I'm really glad I moved over here. Thank you to the staff at Medivet!

Fantastic experience: Everyone at Medivets in Upper York Street and Leamington are amazing! From the various vets, nurses and the beautiful ladies and gent on reception. Everyone is so accommodating, helpful, friendly and professional. I can’t give them enough stars. They are always on hand to help. I have built a good rapport with them and everyone understands how important my pets are to me. I feel that the care of my pets are in safe hands with Medivet and can sleep peacefully at night. Negative experience: I came to medivet in the hope that they would be different to other vets which only seem interested in taking your money, I was told to get in touch if I had any problems with the dog after his post opp only to be told I can have an appointment at a different practice but I will be charged a consultation fee, when I refused the fee I was told that they would not be interested in seeing my dog even though he was in distress.
