Negative experience: I attended the PDSA Coventry out of hours service at 2am on a Sunday morning with my dog, who was in severe pain and extremely unwell. I was already distressed and worried, so the experience that followed was incredibly upsetting. From the moment I arrived, the receptionist was rude and unwelcoming. There was no empathy or understanding of the situation, despite it being an emergency visit in the middle of the night. I was told to sit and wait, even though nobody else was there, and ended up waiting around half an hour to be seen. I had been sent there by vets now and the receptions was also extremely rude on arrival as “they weren’t expecting me”. When we were finally called through, the vet appeared disinterested and dismissive and had clearly just woken up from a sleep. My dog was barely examined, and I was quickly told there was nothing they could do and to see my regular vet on Monday. There was no real attempt to investigate the issue or provide reassurance. I had to push just to get pain relief for my dog, which should not have been necessary given how much discomfort she was clearly in. The main focus seemed to be on the cost, whereas my only concern was making sure my dog was not suffering. It was extremely disappointing and upsetting. While waiting, I also overheard the receptionist speaking very rudely to another client on the phone, telling them their pet was not registered and stating, “the only dog we have registered says it’s dead,” which I found completely inappropriate and insensitive. I left feeling distressed and unsupported and immediately went to The Willows for a second opinion. I would not return and cannot recommend this practice based on my experience.

Fantastic experience: This week we had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to our Yorkshire terrier Milo. We were taken to a room by Grace who I have to say was lovely. On examination she said he was very poorly and helped us make the decision to say goodbye as I don't think we could have made it alone. She was really lovely, professional, sympathetic, caring and genuinely seemed to share in our sorrow and grief. Grace was really gentle and made sure he didn't suffer. Thank you..

Fantastic experience: My cat was really unwell so I rang PDSA. Initially they didn't want to offer me an appointment as we weren't registered. However after having a breakdown on the phone, we were emergency registered (bringing proof of eligibility when we attended). My cat needed emergency surgery after swallowing a foreign object. Without the support of the PDSA I wouldn't have been able to afford her treatment, due to her being unisured. The phone line is horrendous, with 2/3 prerecorded messages playing on a loop, which after being on hold for 30 minutes got incredibly grating! However, the phoneline was the only aspect of my experience which was subpar. Overall, this charity helped to save my fluffy baby's life, so sitting on hold with annoying messages was a small price to pay, along with a voluntary donation

Negative experience: The only thing that was good was the actual vets themselves, my senior boy went in for a consultation to have a dental before Christmas and i got it scheduled in for January 2nd (fantastic for me because i have anxiety around christmas time when everyones a bit more on edge than usual) Paid the initial consultation fee when i got into the reception which was fine, my vet told me i could make a small donation towards a deposit and pay the rest before the appointment but nooo i get to the reception and the girl there with dark hair and glasses basically spoke to me like i’m an idiot (assuming because she thought i was too young and naive to understand what a deposit was) however i am entitled to LOW cost treatment and had just paid £25 but I was basically given 24h to round up another £50 for the deposit otherwise my appointment would be cancelled yet it wasn’t until January so not quite sure why it was that urgent that i paid within the 24h but whatever I paid thats fine. Skip forward to the appointment for his surgery, I went in early as we walk because PDSA is relatively close to our home, checked in was completely fine apart from that one receptionist that everyone else has mentioned looked so glum and just told me to take a seat, fine understandable it was before 9am some people take a bit of time to defrost, we came with a pet stroller because my cat is a senior cat who absolutely hates the standard cat carrier and is absolutely terrified of it the vet said it was completely fine and they would transfer him in a cage like box which is okay for him because he wouldn’t be in it for very long, time rolls around i get the call that he did perfectly and that i could pick him up at 5, we arrived early again just because I was eager to see my boy and the receptionist who was LITERALLY there when i dropped him off in the stroller asked if I had a carrier which i pointed at his stroller and said that it was perfectly safe because he has a harness with the attachments and i literally heard her moaning about the fact that it was a pram to the vet and the lady who took the stroller back to him to get him ready to come out was literally completely fine with it and put his jumper back on and his harness and he was safe and secure like… So then they said they would call me TODAY aka Monday to check in on how his recovery is going and I waited around all day for the phone call and never received one with no communication whatsoever from the vets.. fairly disappointed with my encounter because to say it’s a charity who are supposed to be the MOST considerate to circumstances all they seemed to care about what making a profit off of my boy, to add to this quickly make sure you have extra money seeing as apparently the cost of the deposit and the actual appointment didnt cover the cost for his medication which fair enough it wasn’t that expensive but I was not expecting to have paid closer to £400 when the actual dental itself was £350.. UPDATE: It is now 9pm on Wednesday and I have still not received a call from the vet who did my cat’s dental or even the reception team for that matter, I am not surprised at all and genuinely disappointed, definitely more clear to me that this was their way of making a quick profit off of my cat and not being there to at least give some aftercare advice, luckily google is my friend and this is not my main vet and quite frankly i’m happy it isn’t, after almost a week since his surgery i’m appalled and I hope a staff member reads this and learns to do better on their promise as being their for your animals best interests.

Positive experience: So kind took my little fur baby

Chantelle Jade Posted on Google 3 months ago

Negative experience: I donated £50 for them to give me the bare minimum medication. I had to push for anti biotics for my cat & he started to get better but wasn’t enough to fix the issue so now I have to go back for a 3rd time. I won’t be donating again this is ridiculous & he wasn’t even checked over properly

Lana Nasibova Posted on Google 3 months ago

Negative experience: If I could put 0 stars I would. Vile staff, no heart, rude and all they care about is taking money. My cat has been ill for days. They took him away, God know what they did. Brought him back out and told me to pay £620. And the verdict wasn’t even told by the vet, it was told by admin team who very quickly said ”i don’t know im not clinical”… so what am I paying all this money for when I can’t even speak to the vet to see what has gone on? She couldn’t answer any questions and got really arsy! She told me I couldn’t pay on my own insurance the way I wanted to and tried to insist my insurance go through them. When I told her absolutely not and I do as I please she ran out of the room. Before that she told me how dare I be so demanding ”the vet is trying to save a dog”. Erm yeah that’s great, that’s the vet’s job. And my cat is no less important especially when you are asking that kind of money. Anyway, it was only after I kicked up a fuss to speak to someone competent to find out what they did to my cat they all of a sudden had a nurse free. She explained what they had done, what the next steps are etc. And as I was leaving they decided to jab my cat with anti sickness drugs. Could that not have been done during treatment? God save Broadland vets I tell ya. Best vets ever. You should learn from them you weirdos. PDSA only takes advantage because they’re the only option for emergencies and out of hour treatment that’s why they behave that way because people have nowhere else to go in an emergency. People do not take your pets to this clown house.

Fantastic experience: Such lovely caring staff , I can't thank them enough for the care they gave our cat Lola

Gin Gin Posted on Google 4 months ago

Fantastic experience: Initially I wasn’t impressed with our first visit, seemed like a really lack of care/empathy from the vet with very little information given and or questions answered, there was more emphasis put on the fact that our dog may not wake up if sedated next week, again no empathy whatsoever! Fast forward a week & we saw Kathrine, she was amazing! Showed a real care for the job and empathy for the situation, she was able to remove the emotion but still deal with us with care and empathy, answered all our questions and concerns allowing for us to make a decision there and then. Katherine was fantastic with our dog and really put us and him at ease. Thank you for a wonderful service! You’re a credit Re the receptionists, we’ve never had an issue. Let’s take in your consideration that they deal with hundreds of people a day and let’s face it, the general public are just awful! They’re always grateful when we make a donation. Thank you all

Fantastic experience: Last Thursday, I took my beautiful girl Bailey in to fly over the rainbow bridge, she was struggling quite a lot with walking and in a lot of pain. The reception staff were extremely helpful and caring and the lady vet explained everything to me what was going to happen. I would like to thank everyone who made this journey more peaceful for me and my fur baby. Fly high my gorgeous girl. RIP ❤️❤️

Negative experience: Watch out for the reception staff, I had paid in FULL for my cat's medication. Having had spinal surgery and my cat & toddler with me I asked a lady on reception to watch my cat while I got my toddler safely in the car, lady was getting my medication packaged and ready which she left on counter agreed to watch for moment, she had walked off when I returned to get my cat seconds later, I rushed as I needed to get back to car (clearly struggling no offer of assistance) so I then in a rush forgot the medication. Sent my mum back days later to pick up she was refused (bullied into paying again or she wasn't allowed to take already paid for medication for my sick cat) Management agreed was wrong and I could be refunded. Guess what I get all the way there to collect and Receptionist of the year decided its a no! Still waiting for my stolen "contribution back" shocking customer lack of service. I won't be donating in future.

Mozalphas Whiskey Posted on Google 6 months ago

Negative experience: Seen other reviews about the receptionist, I dont know how she still has a job! vile! rude, heartless, and is all the more willing to pressure you into a donation than sign you in for your appointment- oh and the way she bad mouths pets and their owners after the emergency line is disgusting! long, dry bleach blond hair and black frame glasses, older. She'll leave you standing there while she picks at her nails for 20 minutes if she feels like it, I've personally heard how condescending she is to panicking pet owners too. "I'm just a volunteer." you are the FIRST face people see, the first voice they hear when they sit on the emergency line for 45 minutes while you twiddle your thumbs. I've had to ask the lovely vets to personally get my boys meds for him because she will keep you waiting forever on purpose if she doesn't like you on that day. needs to be sacked! Had her personally decide to warn everyone who walked in about my dog being a bite risk and to be careful even though my pup was sat nicely and only barked once as another dog jumped on her. she made my girl out to be some monster for no reason! sack sack sack!

Mocha Fox Posted on Google 6 months ago

Negative experience: Vets are darlings so helpful and caring on the rare occasion my pets need care! Receptionists are stuck up and target you with rude and dismissive behaviour if you don't donate. Never have I ever watched a line of people run through so quickly as then as soon as it came to me both the receptionists sat twiddling their thumbs pretending they couldnt see me and giggling between eachother when I sat down. Extortionate prices now too! More epxensive to buy a toy there than a pets at home! They bad mouth people who call on the emergency line when they hang up, take 7 working days to respond to requested appointments, I've heard it personally, its vile the way they bad mouth clients! Stuck up, rude and need to be swapped out!

Fantastic experience: The staff were very kind and helpful. Everywhere was clean and welcoming. The clinic is very busy and could do with more donations. Such s lovely service for those on a low income, allowing them to keep a dog.

Molly Posted on Google 7 months ago

Negative experience: Absolutely ridiculous. Me, my brother and his partner spend four desperate days trying to get them to even consider seeing our cat, despite her supposedly being on the system (which they obviously did NOT register her on) in the end, at around one oclock on a Wednesday morning we had to call and tell the customer services she was a stray because the last time we called they basically told us to let her die at home in agony, which would’ve also traumatised us, and the other cats we have. When we arrived they took her in, checked her over and immediately put in the IV before even telling us. We asked many times to be in the room, to have her collar, or any other options but the vet refused. THEY THEN DECIDED. They were going to try and charge us £1,500 for treatment (from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning despite it already being around 1-2 o’clock on Wednesday morning) she wouldn’t even receive because she was already in the process of being put down AND we should NOT have to pay because we’re eligible for her free healthcare. Receptionist was aggressive, rude and obviously VERY uncaring about the well-being and the passing of our beloved baby. This place HAS to be shut down. What they did to us and our poor baby, and many other pets on other reviews (WITH SOMEONES PET DYING IN THE CAR PARK?!) was completely unnecessary, disgusting and beyond heartless. I hope everyone manages to find a vet for their animals that actually care about their well-being.

Ronnie Posted on Google 7 months ago

Negative experience: Called for 4 days to get my cat checked she wasn’t moving barely, eating and wouldn’t go to the toilet. Had enough so called last night and had to say she was a stray for them to even suggest we take her in. Came to us told us we can pay £1572 to give her an iv and then pay 10 times that amount to try other treatments for 7 days. They had already put her to sleep and then tried to guilt us into paying for treatment she wouldn’t even receive. Worst experience ever and me and my partner are devastated.

Demi Priest Posted on Google 7 months ago

Negative experience: If I could I would put 0 stars. Absolutely vile, put down a cat I took in within 5 minutes then wanted 1,500 just to keep her alive knowing they already put the iv in to put her down

Negative experience: AVOID AVOID AVOID Very aggressive, moody, heartless and rude receptionist lady who clearly doesn’t enjoy her job and clearly doesn’t care for sick poorly animals who need emergency care she needs sacking and getting rid of as she letting the PDSA down. I have seen many reviews about this receptionist lady and her vile attitude towards other customers which I had experienced myself today. Was ringing the branch for nearly a hour to get some advice and no answer and they kept saying they was busy with other emergency customers but when I turned up to the branch the place was empty and receptionist was sat at the desk doing nothing so clearly wasn’t busy and just decided she wasn’t going to answer the phone today. Absolutely terrible customer service! If I could leave no stars I would but couldn’t!

Westley Beacall Posted on Google 8 months ago

Negative experience: Went there today with a poorly hamster the receptionist was moody and had no empathy at all for animals. I’ve seen other reviews saying similar things about the same receptionist. She came across aggressive with no customer service skills at all. Disgusting attitude. She should be sacked.

Negative experience: In here now, blanked to my face. Stood here at front desk 45 minutes while the receptionist is on a fag break. My dog is in agony, but i aint a vet so aint 100% sure, thats why im here obviously. Ive had my blood pressure, weight and height measured, bit weird bit my dogs is my world so i went with the flow. Anyone else had this experience? Im baffled. Dogs been ignored, staff wont go near her, i over heard one say she stinks. But not a vet so again not sure….. EDIT.. ive now left without a dog and ive had a rabies jab. I think shes gone but not vet so not sure. All in a weird experience. Staff are abit mad ngl. DISCLAIMER- i am not a vet and never claimed to be but i know I Theyve done me a kipper. £80 for me to have a eye test and rabies shot is a joke.

Fantastic experience: Most importantly, remember that these amazing people are working for a charity, so sometimes having to wait is the least of inconveniences. I have taken a number of people here over the years and cannot praise them highly enough. Please, give as much as you can to help out, as veterinary fees in the private sector are not cheap.

Thomas Skorupa Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Had to take my dog in who had to be put down and I am disgusted with the way things went With being told that I couldn't take my dog outside one more time due to the room needing to be used after us but then being told after he was put to sleep and i had 15 minutes with him to hug him i was told i could have another 10 minutes with him, meaning I did have time to take him outside To then being told he couldn't be put to sleep outside due to there being no privacy out there, but then as I'm crying as he was put to sleep we had people walk into the room to grab stuff Due to the layouts of the rooms there's an open wall leading to another patients room where again as I'm holding and crying over my dog all I could hear was another family with their barking dog laughing and talking quite loudly. I would of thought as a curtisy and to be kind/nice they would of informed other people thst an animal was being put to sleep. I found that the most disgusting thing thst could of happen hearing people laugh and joke about something when an animal is being put to sleep. And then again just as he had gone and im crying the vet said to my mum your gonna have to go pay for the injection we used to put him to sleep. Could of had some companion and said it quietly or outside of the room when someone wasn't grivng over losing there best friend I can't say for all the other vets and people thst work there but for myself and the experience I had that place has no compasion

Fantastic experience: We have just returned from the PDSA Pet Hospital in Coventry. Our 10 wk old Cockapoo somehow managed to get a fine ring holding a bell on her collar lodged in her lip. 2 lovely receptionist greeted us and a triage nurse took us straight through to a consultation room, she looked at her and said can I take her , I know somebody who is an expert at this sort of thing. Within minutes our baby was returned , all sorted. Thankyou all so much for your care and support , we were told there was no charge , so will be making a donation to PDSA THANKYOU TEAM XXX

Steve Thawley Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Worst vets in coventry. Left me and my dog outside after being told they would call us in. the appointment took 5 days to get and after them not calling us in they expect us to wait another 2 days, my poor dog would have been waiting a week to get seen for a serious ear infection took him somewhere else in the end

Fantastic experience: Had to have my cat put to sleep i would like to thank the staff for their kind words and support lovely people xx

Danielle Norman Posted on Google 2 years ago

Positive experience: I would give the actual vets 5 stars but due to having to deal with an inconsiderate receptionist who lacked empathy, this place gets 3 stars from me. Complaining about having no staff in front of customers and just genuinely giving off a nasty aggressive vibe, no wonder there’s no staff I for one couldn’t work with someone like that! Even the vet apologised for bothering her by asking a question. No need for it, why be in that sort of job if you lack any emotion other than anger, it’s beyond me.

kam kj Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: I can't believe it has just cost me £286 for 10 minutes at the most just for the vet to guess what is possibly wrong with my dog, hadn't got a clue. But come back again if you are concerned, no thanks.

Kathryn Villiers Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: What a fantastic service, so much care shown to our old cat, Max, his age, unfortunately doesn't stop him instigating a fight, and he came off worst for it. Penicillin and painkillers have put him back on track, thank you PDSA, great service

Fantastic experience: Very caring knowledgeable staff. Treated my 13 yr old border collie with an enlarged heart. The medication definitely helped her within days. She's back to her normal...greedy and nosey. Also have been there with our baby hamster she had wet tail and luckily still very lively so the vets gave her fluids and antibiotics and sent us home with a course of antibiotics. Can't thank them enough, they do great work.

I ended up driving down there in the end to make my appointment for my dog. That is my gripe . Once I had made my appointment. I was very happy with the care that my dog received, and can't thank the staff enough . Many thanks guys.

Fantastic experience: I found a baby od Red squirrel that probably fell from a tree and could not move properly. I think thoracic cage or spine might be broken. Anyway, when found the animal was still alive so I had to try. Try to hurry, find someone who could help save the poor animal's life. I ended up calling all the possible and available telephone numbers appearing on Google... Waiting at least 2 hours on automated voices and no one, I'm saying NO ONE would pick up. Then I found this place, and I had to give it a go. I am so glad I did. I am happy that PDSA was open and operative, they were very kind and understanding over the phone, also, they told me that I could have brought the animal in straight away if I wanted. And so, I did. I booked a taxi, went to the clinic, they brought the squirrel in the back, made me fill a form and told me that the squirrel was still breathing. So grateful. The only place available and that actually answered the phone. PDSA, thank you ever so much. Your service and support are important for this city. I could not have done it without you! Ps: I must say, though. The 2 days following this event I called multiple times but no one answered; maybe you were closed(?) . I just would like to know how the little baby is and if he has been released yet?!

Positive experience: Unfortunately, it doesn't cover surrounding areas on the outskirts of the city. However, our cat had an unfortunate incident with a lorry and was taken there. The staff were lovely and understanding as our cat never lived in the city. I would recommend it to those that are in the catchment area.

Negative experience: My dog is bite by other dog. I have visited for the emergency. They toke the X-ray and told me he just broken the bone. He can recovery just need extra care only. I have asked are there any internal bleeding, they said no. I have seriously ask are there any life issue, they tell me he is safe. Next day after I change back to my vets. They just use back the original X-ray, he has serious internal bleeding. How non professional service and misleading information they have given to us. They made my dog suffer the pain longer and gave a hopeless hope to us.

Fantastic experience: Yet again the vets and staff have been amazing. We had to have our beloved dog pts 3 weeks ago. They were so supportive and understanding. We then had to take our cat for treatment since. The receptionist remembered us and was so kind. They made the last few weeks bearable. I want to send my thanks to them all

Fantastic experience: If your pet is seriously ill and registered, just turn up. Don't go through the rig moral of trying to answer questions. You should get a five star service....

Negative experience: Lost my dog due to an unexpected accident. So had to have him put down, I stressed to the pdsa how important his paw print was to me and I was assured I would receive his paw print along when I received my dog home. My dog has returned home and I do not have his paw print. So today I rang the pdsa to find out where it was, as you can imagine I’m very upset and all I get from the woman on the phone is attitude no reassurance to be told “we’ll if you don’t update your address how do you expect us to know?” No compassion what so ever? It may just be a paw print to her but that’s my baby’s paw print I’m never gonna be able to get again. I got very upset on the phone crying explaining it’s the one thing I asked them for I even rang twice to ensure I was going to receive the paw print when my dog came home I was assured the paw print and my dog. I cannot believe how the receptionist spoke to me on the phone and then slammed the phone down on me, when it is not easy to get through to them. Absolutely disgusting.

Fantastic experience: PDSA have always been excellent, unfortunately this time our little princess Lola passed away on the way to the PDSA. When we arrived a veterinary nurse came out to us, I am not sure what her name was but she was lovely, she arranged for some to come out and collect Lola out shih tzu. She also gave us all the information we need to have Lola's ashes put in engraved Beechwood casket, and returned to us. Not only that she then went inside and did paw prints of her, and some locks of her tail fur to keep and a sympathy card also with a little paw print inside and a hand written message. I can't thank this lady enough, I only wish I had her name, she went the extra mile, the way she treated our princess was unforgettable. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Although we are heartbroken right now she did everything she could to comfort us x

Fantastic experience: Really nice, unfortunately it wasn't great news for my little pomeranian, who had been attacked by a German shepherd, had his leg in a cast due to 2 breaks in his front leg, and it had not Healed, so we've 6 weeks to go to see if it will heal. Or loose his leg.

Fantastic experience: Around 9pm saturday My little jack Russell had something stuck in his mouth that was causing him discomfort I got so worried for him so I called pdsa. A delightful young lady answered.after i explained the problem with him and she got me to bring him over straight away! Within a couple of minutes we were called in by a beautiful lady named JENNY! I opened his mouth and she could see the problem. instantly she got the offending object out! Right away I could see the difference with him. JENNY was absolutely brilliant she got him a course of meditation. Throughout the whole experience from the phone call to the surgery I felt at ease and happy for him.they were so happy and nice the atmosphere was lovely. A HUGE THANK YOU TO JENNY AND THE RECEPTIONIST! ALSO THE WHOLE TEAM FOR THE AMAZING WORK THEY DO.

Fantastic experience: My Senior cat was seen today as she was in pain for the last few days. Vet Kate saw her on time, did a full, thorough examination, gently and efficiently. Diagnosed exacerbation of an existing health issue., for which she was given medication. All the Vets, Receptionists and Nurses are such lovely, kind, friendly and genuinely caring people. Both to the pets and their owners. Thank you All x

Fantastic experience: We were seen very quickly today for my older boys appointment after a phone consultation. They were knowledgeable, helpful, compassionate and all round amazing people. I think the phone and video consultations are fantastic for non emergencies and those who live outside of Coventry. I am very grateful for the PDSA.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing group of ladies!!! I wish everyone all the absolute best. Some of the kindest, most hard working, down to earth people you could ever meet. Keep up the great work I'm rooting for you all ❤ your pet will 100% always get the best care possible in this place. Xx

Fantastic experience: Fantastic service offered by all staff, you can tell they genuinely care about the animals. The only possible criticism being that they are so popular (which of course isn't a bad thing!) and there is currently a national vet shortage, so it can be difficult to get an appointment at times.

Rosie Savage Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: They have an outstanding service, for people who struggle and have pets, they understand and help they deserve alot more credit than they already get.

Natalie Moore Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: This is a charity that acts like its private. Most the staff are condescending and if your pet is ill you can't be seen unless you pay *. Wake up pdsa because everything someone is treated disrespectfully because they can't pay or a pet is left without treatment because their owner can't pay, you degrade all the massive amount of love and care that the pdsa has always stood for. Such a shame
