Fantastic experience: I am a client of this practice since 2000. The professionalism and service has remained after Medi vet took over the practice from Mr. Dunn, an outstanding vet held in very high regard in Crosby. Today I was reminiscing with the vet nurse about previous vets now moved on - some I will always remember for their excellence and empathy helping me decide when it was kinder to let the beloved go (I’ve had many over the years). Today I was yet again fortunate to consult with an outstanding vet(Spanish). He listened, he was firm (as they must be) but he was also extremely kind and loving towards my cat and the consultation passed with little stress to my very nervous cat. His diagnosis and the medication prescribed was patiently explained to me and at no time did I feel rushed or unable to ask questions. On exit, the vet nurse also explained the dosage of the medications prescribed. An outstanding practice staffed by wonderful professionals.

Negative experience: I’ve been meaning to leave a positive review of Medivet Crosby for a long time because the staff have been fantastic with my dogs over the years. Unfortunately though, an issue today has led me to leave this one instead. My elderly dog has been prescribed a controlled drug for over a year, even before it became part of her palliative care. As I expected, my dates were muddled with the holidays and I realised that I had forgotten to call on Friday and reorder her medication. When I told the receptionist I needed a phone consultation for the meds, I was told I didn’t need one as she was seen last month and the prescription would be sent to the vet to sign off. However, I was then informed that I should have picked the medication up on Friday (I did not know I could do his without ordering it first), and now the vet will not prescribe the medication without an appointment, despite her being seen twice last month (costing over £500) and her dosage being the highest it can be. But, they know she needs it to help control pain. I’m not sure if this is an over zealous protocol, or to help hit quotas, but it feels like a £50 punishment for (being ADHD) and loosing track of things over Christmas; despite my best efforts to remember. For my own controlled medication, I have more than 1 day to collect it before it’s withheld, subject to another appointment. Considering Medivet’s emails include reminders for dental check-ups and unnecessary diagnostic tests, maybe they could email a controlled drugs protocol and text reminders to pick up medication before it’s withheld. Unfortunately, after last month, we don’t have the additional £50.

Negative experience: After being told our pet needed an operation that would cost in excess of £1000, plus add on's, we sought a 2nd opinion from the Animal Trust who have very good reviews for surgery. Their charge for the same operation was half the price of the Mews and having now had the operation undertaken I cannot praise the Animal Trust enough.

Fantastic experience: My dogs are always anxious attending the Vet’s but the staff are always friendly and do the best they can to calm them. thank you ☺️

They managed to produce our Mum’s dog’s Animal Health Certificate within very short timescales and guided us through the whole process with professionalism and care. Their help was invaluable while we were dealing with a family emergency, and they went above and beyond to ensure everything was in place. Highly recommend their services.

Fantastic experience: 5/5 Had trouble getting one of our kittens into a carrier for their first annual appointment, called up to explain we would be late. Super understanding staff, Vet who saw our kitten was gentle, professional and handled him well. Absolutely no complaints at all.

Fantastic experience: Jackie is amaizing veterinary nurse she always goes out of her way to help us and she genuinely loves the pets. Any problems she goes out of her way to help and always sorts it out. My dog has complex needs and medication and she helps sort out all his medication and makes life easier because of her customer service. She is such a credit to the mews vets and we are grateful for her constant help

Fantastic experience: We would like to thank Marie and the rest of the staff for their professional and caring support ❤️ Our beloved Border Collie ( Megan ) Who passed away peacefully! surrounded by us at the vets after reaching the grand old age of 15 , Sadly we had to make that dreadful decision after she had detearated with ill health she had a wonderful life and we will never for get her, Medivet in Crosby thank you again for your support at that difficult time and the way you supported us, We received Megan's ashes back in a beautiful oak Urn. Fantastic experience: The Mews Vets are always amazing and caring. My recent visit was just this. My cat was so calm through his examination and booster jabs. Didn't flinch once. Fabulous vets. Highly recommend them.

Negative experience: I have never been informed that this practice had gone Private, had to pay £209 for a steroid injection and flea treatment for my cat, they wanted me to bring my cat back for a second and third flea treatment but would have to pay again each time to be seen by the vet, I was charged £46 for the flea treatment which I have bought exactly the same treatment on Amazon for £6! I won’t be going back as each visit would be over £100 just to see the vet and flea treatment which I can do myself!

Negative experience: Daylight robbery. Brought my cat in for her monthly injection and was told I also have to pay a consultation fee of over £50 each month she has this injection. I rang a different vet and was told their consultation fee was £32 and that was a one off, and then I only pay for the injection each month. So, basically anyone who has a pet that needs a certain medication every month you have to pay the extortionate consultation fee on top, even when it is for the same treatment. Had to leave one star otherwise I couldn’t leave this review - far too generous as they deserve none. Anyway, I won’t miss the lengthy waiting time in there and I will save some money by changing practice.

Negative experience: Since becoming medivet, you now wait on the phone lines for 35-45 mins. Today I was in work, I work 1/2 a mile away. I left work ,drove the vet ,still with phone on hold, to find there short staffed. 1 lady dealing with customers, checking in, paying the bills, and trying to answer phone. To then find out you can no longer just buy flea and worm tablets. You know need to pay for appt too. Not impressed. Was with the mews 16yrs

Fantastic experience: Visiting family in Liverpool we live in Aberdeen so I registered my dog at this vet back in January. He was on heart medication and needed a repeat prescription. Sadly he has passed so I have a new dog. Had to come down as have a family emergency. The new dog was due his second vacc and micro chip so we booked and he was done today. My vet sent the dogs records to Medivet Crosby. The vet was really nice took good care of my dog Iscar. Receptionist really helpful and sorted out his micro chip information for me. I would highly recommend this vet practice. Prices are really good. All lovely staff. I read reviews before registering with this vet. All good. I wouldn’t just use any vet the dog is so precious.

Negative experience: Been bringing the family pets here since I was a kid, wouldn’t use any other vets. Friendly and professional in a clean environment.... Edit 2024, knocked off 4 stars, not the same place since they sold out to Medivet. They now overcharge don't really show any compassion to your sick pet, more interested in getting you out ASAP to get the next person in. More animals treated means they make more money!

Negative experience: I was in grief when I lost both family and my dog this vet did not empathise in fact he told me to "make a choice quickly to get my dog put down as there was an emergency coming in" I asked if I could at least walk her around the car park to say goodbye he said no...I took her home only to be put down days later, I never got her collar back, let alone my money or dog, healthy instead in a casket...of which I paid part cash and part card as I was struggling with all the losses and money's caused by other deaths I was struggling but yet they also took 150 pounds they said they would refund me that they never did, this wasn't even their money to.own it was another organizations and my money they took as my dog was part funded...shocking behavior not only the fact they ignored the fact I told them she had cancer to the point I took her to another vet and they diagnosed it, I wouldn't take a "fly" to be treat here as it would be harmed sadly indirectly or directly like mine and many others feelings I since heard...by many others. Be at your own peril if you visit under this new ownership

Negative experience: Avoid like the plague. I have left this vet 6 moths ago due to its high prices. I have just received a letter from Medivets head office saying I owe over 130.00 as I had left their pet plan coverage early. Medivet is a greedy company with less than average reviews on the internet. An extremely expensive vet, I would strongly advise you go to another, local one.

Fantastic experience: Staff very friendly, helpful and courteous. Appointment was on time and the staff were excellent with my reactive dog. Allowed me to stay with him for his pre meds until he went unconscious which I thought was very thoughtful of them. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Our little Maltese Coco went in to get spayed on Monday. The service provided was very professional but at the same time very caring. Very happy to recommend.

Negative experience: Please go somewhere els it use to be really good. I don’t no what’s happened not happy at all. ££££££££ thats all they seem to care about now.the vet was trying to get use to buy everything. Antibiotics, antihistamine, flea stuff, worming tablets more antibiotics. And £ 500 for an allergy test. On the occasion £75.00 for 2 lots of tablets and £52.00 just to see the vet . I went on line one tablet cost 6p each and the other was 19 p each. Just been again another £150.00 They can’t tell what the problem is just try all these. Never again

Negative experience: I had my little 1 in there they have the cheek to charge you for being with them each month He had a problem with his fur cost over £500 pound which none of the treatment worked then because i left that this vets they charged me £78 pound for leaving which i found absolutely disgusting. Took to another vet who told me to give him evening primrose oil which cost £28pence and his fur is fine lovely and shiny Definitely wouldn't recommend this robbing VETS

Negative experience: Was a brilliant vets prior to being taken over by medivet. Unfortunately, it has lost its personal touch. Staff often rude on the phone, minimal professionalism given, failure to return calls multiple times. Incorrect information given on more than one occasion. Not somewhere I would feel comfortable taking my pets to. After 20years and following a misunderstanding which they refuse to accept or resolve, we have now left this vets practice.

Negative experience: Now they have been taken over by a national chain (Medivet), their prices are astronomical. £47 for a few minutes consultation is appalling! Parking is atrocious, as is their waiting time on arrival. Having been with Mews for 11 years we are leaving, they have lost their personal touch, and it just feels like another money-making machine now with a high turnover of staff.

Fantastic experience: Every member of staff showed such compassion and patience with me every visit I have made in the last three weeks. I felt I could trust them with my life, never mind my cat's life. I would highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: Rob Dunn is fantastic, so caring, understanding and reliable with years of experience. He has regularly cared for our dog Lily despite her not being easy to deal with and we wouldn't put her in the care of any other vet.

Positive experience: Looked after very well by staff, at all times been a customer for 10 yrs plus. Most recently, sadly they were unable to save our beloved older cat who was very poorly. Aftercare of him and us was both sensitive and respectful.

Fantastic experience: Took my golden retriever here a couple of times for different reasons as he's very accident prone. Every time we have visited felt very welcome and shadow has always been made a fuss of. They take time to explain what problems are and how to be treated. Even rang for advice and they have still had the time to go over things. Would definitely recommend. We came from a previous vet centre after awful experience and this vet is first class

Fantastic experience: Great place recommended to us by friends and it is the best vet experience we've had. The vet takes time to explain what the issue is and talk through options, there is no pressure to spend money unnecessarily, the vet has even told us what human tablets we could use and what dose. At the end we were asked if we are happy with the advice- I've not experienced this anywhere else!

All the staff are lovely, efficient, dedicated and so sympathetic-I can't stress enough how much they have helped us,especially in the last year or so as our dog had so many conditions to deal with. Fantastic experience: They did a really good job on Willow our cat. She had bad teeth and had been miserable for a couple of weeks. She is now back to her old self and seems really happy again. Can't praise these guys enough.

Fantastic experience: We've been with our various cats to the Mews for over 20 years and can honestly say that they are the 'go to' vet surgery. All the staff are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and willing to help in any way (especially Lisa on the front desk!). We feel safe knowing that are pets health are in such good hands.

Fantastic experience: having had a less than pleasant experience with our puppy at a veterinary practice close to home I found this one through google. Made and appointment and took our puppy there for a first visit and vaccination yesterday - what a difference! Very busy practice but this was because the vets spent time with each patient and owners explaining procedures and addressing all questions and giving advice. All staff very polite efficient and friendly to animals and owners, they all appear to have pets of their own and were happy to share experiences and compare notes. Very pleased we made the change even though this practice is much further away it is worth the journey for such excellent care and attention.
