Our comment from InfoVet about Vets Now Liverpool:
Vets Now Liverpool is an emergency veterinary clinic dedicated to providing urgent care for pets in need. Many customers appreciate the quick access to veterinarians and the compassionate care offered to their beloved animals. Reviews highlight:
- Prompt and professional service, often seeing pets quickly during emergencies.
- Friendly and knowledgeable staff who provide essential information and reassurance during stressful times.
- Excellent veterinary care that has been life-saving for many pets.
- Supportive reception staff that help to make the experience less frightening for both pets and owners.
However, some users express concerns regarding the high costs associated with emergency services. The consultation fees can be seen as exorbitant, with many noting that treatment can lead to unexpected and steep bills. Complaints include:
- High consultation fees, reaching over £300, which some consider to be extortionate given the level of care provided.
- Lack of clear communication regarding pricing before treatment is administered.
- Occasional negative experiences with staff demeanor, especially under high-stress conditions.
Despite these issues, the overall consensus reflects a commitment to animal welfare and a thorough approach to emergency veterinary care. Vets Now Liverpool remains a crucial resource for pet owners, especially during urgent situations.

Vets Now Liverpool: Reviews
Negative experience: Got there it's was empty people was coming in and getting seen before me wasn't happy as it was quiet and still had to wait ages to get charged £400 just to make my dog wee. Absolute joke this..,.....then they put a photo like this up in the toilet which took the Mick
Positive experience: Sunday morning visit with my dog. Saw quite quickly. Swelling on side of his face and not himself, very red gum, I suspected a tooth problem. Vet had quick look, then prescribed antibiotics for 14 days, WITHOUT taking his temperature or checking heart. Very expensive 10 minutes ( nearly 2 weeks wages for me) but at least my dog seems happier.
Positive experience: Emergency bought us to the out of hours vet. Seen promptly. Vet very informative. Public were not up to an expected standard. No paper towels and dryer not working. Long distance to travel too.
Fantastic experience: Really nice and help my pet so much
Fantastic experience: Phoned and was directed to the nearest centre. Seen within 10 mins of arrival, was nice vet, thorough examination. Expensive but no more than other private out of hours vets, would recommend.
Fantastic experience: Great service and helpful polite staff, but we didn’t personally see a vet. We saw a very helpful and efficient nurse who took Bronte away for assessment.. for some reason my husband couldn’t be with her.
Negative experience: I find it hard to rate. The Vet, like any other performed like any other only it was an emergency visit so had to pay £330+ just to lay eyes on a vet. On top of that almost another £100 for an injection to stop my dog from throwing up which wouldn't have cost anything like that had it been the following day. On one hand I'm grateful that my dog is ok now but on the other hand £335 JUST TO TALK TO THE VET I'm now in debt almost to the tune of £450 and I feel like I've been robbed yet still we're told Vets love animals and it's not about money. How are we supposed to believe that?
Fantastic experience: I visited Vets now last Saturday night with my little dog, Tina, who I thought had eaten raisins which are poisonous to dogs. They reassured me and told me what would happen to check if she HAD eaten any or not. After treatment to make her vomit it turned out she hadn’t eaten any but I was just glad she was ok as if I’d waited and she had eaten raisins the outcome would have been more serious. Thank you to all the vets ♥️
Negative experience: Took my dog in as an emergency sent by Liverpool vets the woman on desk was the rudest person I have ever dealt with shouting right over waiting room when I asked is this a triage because everybody who came in after me had been seen and my dog was in distress in waiting room. What was already a stressful situation was just made so much worse
Fantastic experience: Very impressed over the holiday period and was late into the night as l didn’t know service was available during the nite quick service putting my mind at rest, all staff very pleasant & helpful l will use again thank you for working hard through the nite putting animal care needs first five stars all round
Negative experience: Extremely expensive and pretty poor service. Initial vet consultation was comprehensive, however our dog was left overnight Sunday 2pm until Monday 7.30 am. Given saline drip, blood test, painkiller injections and antibiotics. We were twice promised a telephone update which didn't happen on both occasions, we had to chase up ourselves, our dog was handed back to us with poo all over his rear end which hadn't been spotted, God knows how long it had been there. Charged almost £1800 for overnight " care". Whilst we appreciate that this was a weekend " Out of hours" emergency i feel that the cost compared to the apparent level of care was extortionate. Profit appears to be the priority with Vets Now.
Fantastic experience: Advised to attend as our puppy had D+V and wasn't keeping any fluids down. Rang ahead at 22:45, got there just after 23:00 and home before midnight with some anti-sickness medicine on board, some anti-diarrhoea medicine and clear advice about what to look out for if he was getting worse.
Fantastic experience: from my 1st phone call worrying about my puppy to the reception desk to the consultation with a lovely vet I coukd not fault the service we creceived.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely they are life savers - my Christmas Day emergency was dealt with swiftly - I can’t thank them enough - one of my little girls had swallowed a chunk of lamb bone - which caused a bowel obstruction and massive bleed - it was so scary … They truly were a Christmas Miracle life savers xxx
Fantastic experience: Petal ate a whole Christmas cake with all its toxic risks. A 17kg dog ate 1kg cake. The care and attention provided by Vets Now was amazing. Twice daily reports of my dog’s condition was reassuring. After 48hrs she was considered well enough to come back home. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and quick service. Which I would expect for a £302 fee to just see a vet. Emergency charge is ridiculous.
Negative experience: We contacted the clinic after our pet nibbled a lily leaf and explained the steps we had already taken. Despite this, we were advised to attend immediately. On arrival, the vet examined him, confirmed that everything we had done was correct, and sent us home with no further treatment required. We were charged an out-of-hours emergency fee, which felt disappointing given that no additional care was needed and the visit itself proved unnecessary.
Negative experience: Turned away after spending £320 pound less than 12 hours went back to pay 80 pound for the antibiotics then told we had to pay for another £320 pound for a new consultation and then told we couldn't get the antibiotics are main coon needed to help him survive absolutely disgusting service rather let a pet suffer than than let.ua pay 80 pound for antibiotics they told he would be on still absolutely disgusting should be ashamed!!!
Negative experience: Disgraceful service ! From the initial phone call unfortunately telling us meelo had been in a RTA To the passing of meelo Zero aftercare or empathy for the family If you have any other means of care please stay away from this money making business
Negative experience: Terrible experience with HUYTON practice. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Our cat was in an accident and was taken to this emergency vets. He unfortunately had to be put down after injuries that were too severe to treat as he declined so quickly once arriving. The vets tried charging £800 initially for this to which we queried very quickly and this drastically dropped to £250 Days later the vets then decided to send me an email explaining that my cat had been in an accident and was at their practice and could I please contact them ( this rubbed salt in already very bad and upset wounds as our cat had been already euthanised days earlier) Then to make things even worse, they then have changed the price a third time and are now claiming they need an extra £100+ from us for nothing that they have explained. Terrible terrible experience from start to finish. Our cat we decided to have cremated and we were awaiting a call to have him collected by a friend. We called on 12th December. They claimed he still wasn’t back and to wait a further 4 days around. We called back today and they claimed he had in fact been at the vets waiting to be collected since 11th December and their systems weren’t updated. No apology. No empathy. Just consistent, inept, terrible work throughout. AVOID
Negative experience: My cat was very ill, last attempt at my vets at 6pm to give her injection and pain killers and see if she picked up, obviously I was concerned if she got worse through the night and really wished I had put her to sleep then, they said I could call the out of hours vets if I needed to, I thought ok, it will probably be double the price but there if I needed. The price for euthanasia is £120 they wanted to charged me £410 that's absolutely extortionate, there is no way you can justify it. I was set to take her and as I picked her up and set her down she seemed to pick up, that was about 9 o'clock. I watched her all night, around 3am she was worse and I knew it was the end, my vets opened at 8am and I took her, I feel terribly bereft and so guilty that I made her suffer those extra hours because of your beyond reasonable costs. Good job all the supermarkets, garages, restaurants, pubs, everywhere that's open after 6pm don't charge 4 times the normal price isn't it, I am beyond disgusted! Vets have already hiked up their prices, but your are the next level of robbery really, that's what it felt like to me, ordinary people just don't have that kind of money especially not in these fraught times where the cost of living has spiraled out of control. You should all be ashamed of yourselves!
Negative experience: I am writing this review to warn other pet owners: if I had listened to this clinic, my cat would be dead right now. My experience here was traumatic. After an initial visit for my cat’s bladder issue, we returned 24 hours later. I was immediately blindsided by a demand for past fees (which had not been mentioned previously) and a quote of over £2000 for emergency care. Because I could not pay this upfront, I was given five minutes to decide whether to euthanise my 3-year-old cat. When I refused euthanasia and opted to drain his bladder to buy time to see a different vet, the staff became hostile. The vet called me "cruel," blamed me for my cat's condition, and threatened to call the RSPCA if I took him home, despite my plan to seek care elsewhere the very next morning. To make matters worse, they injured my cat's claw while mishandling an IV removal, leaving it bleeding, his leg and paw swollen, and untreated. UPDATE: I took my cat to Animal Trust the next morning. They performed an ultrasound, gave my cat an IV, pain medication, performed tests, and gave us medication to take home for only £220. They confirmed there was no blockage, no kidney stones, and he urinated normally upon arrival. This emergency clinic was ready to kill my cat over a blockage that did not exist. Please, avoid this facility. They aggressively push for euthanasia if you cannot pay immediately, and they utilise guilt and threats rather than compassion. Please seek second opinions. Animals Trust were nothing but compassionate and had everything all laid out ready to go for when we got there.
Fantastic experience: My cat was seen straight away on Saturday night and diagnosed instantly and advised to have a blood test as a pre -cautionary check to see if his internal organs were OK. Very quick result and thankfully his kidneys were OK. A painkiller and anti -sickness needle was advised which my partner and I agreed to. Top care for my cat and expert advice. Was recomended to see my vet on Monday and he is on the road to recovery thsnk heavens. Thank you to the Vets Now unit at Huyton who were open on Saturday evening and the wonderful vet who looked after my boy. Thank you!!!
Negative experience: They emailed me telling me to call them because my cat had been involved in a traffic accident 2 hours after speaking to me on the phone and telling me that they need permission to put him to sleep. He was already dead by this point so you can imagine the extra heartbreak. There was 0 empathy, 0 discussion, no explaining and an urgency to give permission. We are in Australia and he was with a family member at the emergency vets so they had to call us for permission but we got woke up and told to give instant permission. I felt the vet was not empathetic at all and you can imagine the shock we had and distress. To then be emailed 2 hours later after just being woken to this devastating news, telling us we needed to call about our cat is honestly rubbing salt in the wound. I understand they are an emergency vet but if they can’t act with empathy and compassion then they should get a job in a different field. Continuing on from the above which was bad enough, they have changed the price of what we owe them three times now. Charged to a family members card and then refunded. Being so far away, pretty much on an opposite time zone and having to deal with their incompetence through getting family members to call has been an added distress to an already difficult time. I’m very disappointed in the service.
Fantastic experience: Kind staff members who have advice and helped our dog quickly.
Fantastic experience: Had to rush my dog to the vets late Sunday night after a case of suspected poisoning following a walk that day. Can't fault the treatment or support received. It's always a gut wrenching time and I was so anxious about leaving him overnight in case he passed without me being with him. The wonderful vet,who was with him all night, reassured me they would call me immediately if he took a turn for the worse. I didn't get her name, sorry, but a huge heartfelt thank you. Happy ending, my dog is now back home, out of danger, and back to his boisterous self.
Fantastic experience: Went on a Saturday night. They treated my dog quickly and efficiently. All was fine. They do insurance paperwork for you too which is great. I also witnessed amazing compassion from the lady on reception, I don't recall her name but she is an asset to Vets Now, they should be proud to have her.
Fantastic experience: Honestly would have been utterly panicked if not for the Vets Now team. We've needed support out of hours twice with our dog. The first visit with Effie, Emma and I think Eliza was brilliant, dog was relaxed and comfortable with the team, and their care was brilliant, and we were relieved too. Our second visit at 04:00 on a Sunday morning was with Barbara, another outstanding visit. Can't praise Barbara and the team enough and their care standards are amazing. They care, are knowledgeable, and really communicative! Thank you for all your support!
Positive experience: Firstly, I have to say that the vet we saw was excellent and really helped my dog feel better quickly, she was wonderful with him and really knowledgeable and caring, I would give the vet 5 stars and highly recommend. My issue is the pricing. The out of hours consult was over £300 and our bill came to just under £400 with medication. It was also suggested that if we wanted to keep him in over night for IV and observation this could go up to £1200. Having worked with equine vets I don’t know why small animal vet pricing is so much more expensive. We had an estimated quote of £1200 for 1 night of obs and IV which I felt was extortionate as is a £300 out of hours consultation fee when you take them to clinic. I appreciate vets train for years and business costs are high etc, but other animal vets aren’t charging these rates. I feel as though the pricing is way too high and exploits people who want the best for their pets.
Positive experience: Vets and receptionists were lovely and looked after my dog when he needed emergency care. I can't get over the extortionate fees that are charged though.
Fantastic experience: Thank you so much for taking care of Atlas for two nights. He is doing so much better now and it was a joy to see him so alert after the second night. The staff were all lovely and kind and clearly took very good care of Atlas, giving him lots of much needed attention and fuss during his recovery.
Fantastic experience: The vet that was looking after my girl I couldn't thank her enough.
Positive experience: Staff very helpful and very busy, only problem is you have to pay cash for teatment luckily i had my debit card but cleared my account out, despite having insurance they wanted payment sight away, what would have happened if I didnt have the money which was hundreds of pounds.
Fantastic experience: Came in tonight after our family dog had sadly passed away whilst on our way into the vets, they took her away and confirmed she had no heart rate, everyone was compassionate especially the lady working reception, it was quite quiet so we were seen to quickly, I was visible very upset about the situation but the staff dealt with us very well. We got to sit with our Twixie in a room alone for a while to say our goodbyes as everything happened very suddenly, when paying we paid for the cremation option around £260 and we were not charged an out of hours fee which really helped our situation, I’m unsure wether this is because she was already deceased by the time we got there so no medical care could be provided or whether the receptionist did out out of heart. But thank you so much for your help
Negative experience: AWFUL do not go here at all. they nearly killed my 9 month old kitten we went as an emergency appointment with suspected pyometra and they missed it on the scan because they didn’t do it properly now I know they scanned her bladder sent us home with tablets for her to take, a few days later my cat ended up in terrible condition and nearly died from the pyometra. took her to our vets and they said it is the worst pyo they have ever seen and in the youngest cat they have ever seen and it should have been picked up on the scan that vers now did as it would of been there then that’s how bad it was. she had to have emergency surgery and is now recovering. DO NOT take ur pet here if it’s the last thing u do it is not worth it
Negative experience: AWFUL do not go here at all. they nearly killed my cat. she had pyometra and they missed it on the scan because they didn’t do it properly sent us home with tablets for her to take, a few days later my cat ended up in terrible condition and nearly died from the pyometra. took her to our vets and they said it is the worst pyo they have ever seen and in the youngest cat they have ever seen and it should have been picked up on the scan that the pdsa did. she had to have emergency surgery and is now recovering. Fantastic experience: We needed to come here several times over the course of a week and each time my dog Archie was treated with kindness and sensitivity. Many thanks go to all the staff, but particularly to Andre and Amy who were instrumental in getting him referred to NW vet specialists and for looking after him so well over a difficult weekend.
Positive experience: Good, friendly help and support, delivered in a fairly quick way. It wasn’t too clear how the triage process worked and there was a strong suggestion insurance claims had to go through the service. It should have been made clear that this would result in a charge, which customer’s could avoid by processing the claim themselves. The amount of the potential charge should also be made clear at the outset.
Negative experience: The disgusting £341 bill aside, the vet didn't seem to care at all and just wanted to move on with their evening. No questions, quick fixes, blames stress for a reoccurring issues (not listening), atrocious service. The nurse was lovely and our pet was seen quickly, maybe I'd be less upset about the price if the service wasn't below sub par. £300+ for consult only, the rest was for a painkiller and anti nausea that's it.
Fantastic experience: The staff on reception were so helpful and helped me register my dog for a consultation and treatment, the vet was very caring and treated my dog as her own, my dog was very relaxed and unafraid.
Negative experience: The quality of care and the Vets were good. However the costs are extortionate. I appreciate the need for additional cost because it is out of hours and may be less busy thsn a normal vets. This should not extend to cost of medications. The cost of a paste for £10 on Amazon was£68 when dispensing fees were added. My own vet had charged £15. Tablets for £1.22 each from my own vet Liverpool university were charged at £28 incl dispensing
Fantastic experience: The emergency help I got was great when my little dog Pippy was bitten by a dog on her walk. However, I do think vet care prices have risen so much that I almost feel priced out of ever having another dog again. When an emergency happens and we need a vet, we want to do everything to make them better not have our love for them judged by how much we are willing to spend. If Pippy needed an overnight stay the price increased automatically to £1200 from £550. That's crazy to me. I'm sorry to say this and it's not in any way aimed at just yourselves, I hope all veterinary care providers read this. I have had dogs all my life, I live for my babies and have always given them so much love and affection and the best however in today's climate it is no surprise that pets are finding themselves given up by owners to rescue centres as people can no longer afford the care when things go wrong, an accident happens or an illness sets in for our once loved pets. If i'm honest its not just pet care but pet food suppliers too have jumped on the band wagon and increased pet food to unsustainable prices for pet owners. Crazy times...
Negative experience: The worst experience. I took my dog in after having to prove he was poorly by sending videos. The vet was so cold and had no compassion at all, he was so poorly and had an ear infection (already diagnosed and was planning TECA with a different vet before he became ill) she didn’t listen to me when I told her he was crying out when his ears were touched, anyway I had carried him in as he couldn’t walk, she took him off me and said “I’ll put ‘it’ on oxygen” she took him out of the room, took bloods, I waited in the waiting room for almost an hour (I could hear him crying the whole time) the whole time the staff were all whispering and laughing, she called me back in said he had a temp and was dehydrated and they are keeping him in, she completely disregarded his ear infection, said his ears look fine and it can’t be that anyway as an ear infection can’t cause a high temp?! I explained he has a perforated ear drum and it could be a middle ear infection which has spread and could affect his brain, (he was at the vets earlier that week the vet said yes his ear is definitely infected) but no she was having none of it. I reluctantly left him there in the hopes he would be ok after some pain relief and antibiotics. I just desperately wanted help for him. I eventually got through to them the following morning to be told they don’t know how he is I will need to wait for the vet to ring, which she did at around 1-2 she said he had eaten his temp is ok (this gave me false hope) but I could only collet him around 5, I could hear him crying the whole time again, I asked if I could get him now, she said no. I collected him at the appointment time hoping he would be a little better, the vet discharged him (a different vet) and told me to go ahead with his teca and to get him booked in the same week. When they brought him to me he was even worse and also had cherry eye, I assume from the absolute stress they had caused him locking him away while he was in absolute agony! I carried him out as he still couldn’t walk. Within an hour of him being home I rang a home euthanasia vet to come to put him to sleep! He was suffering massively, couldn’t even sit down or lie down because of the pure discomfort he was in, he was crying out in pain, standing with his head at his water bowl but couldn’t drink. I am absolutely heartbroken and will never forgive myself for leaving him in the hands of such incompetent uncaring ‘vets’ who made him spend his last day on earth locked in a cage alone in agony! AVOID at all costs!
Fantastic experience: Helped our little Westie dog, kept her in overnight, and their care was fantastic, excellent
Negative experience: I had an emergency with my cat on Saturday evening and rang the emergency out of hours vet and they answered Vets Now Emergency and when I got the details of where to bring my cat it was PDSA Hospital Huyton...On the phone I was told they don't accept cash and only take card and I was also told that the consultation fee was £302.50 and and prescribed medicines would be extra...I totally understand that going to an out of hours Vets is going to be a bit more expensive than the normal Vets, but £302.50 for a consultation is extortionate beyond belief...I paid it as my cat was poorly and I didn't know what to do at 10pm on a saturday night at the weekend. The vets we saw were lovely and there was no hard sell from them at all. They thought our cat Missy may have had a partial seizure and by the time we were in the consulting room Missy wasn't presenting they way she had at home and had seemed to have come out of it and there was no need for further medication. So we returned home going down the observation and monitoring route for now and so far she is fine. I was confused with the connection of the Vets Now name and having to go to PDSA Hospital ...However, as a lot of people probably know a lot of independent vet practices have been purchased / acquired by larger investment equity companies. To illustrate this another way since 2013 1500 of the 5000 vet practices in the UK have been acquired by the 6 large corporate groups ( CVS IVC Evidensia, Linnaeus, Medivet, Pets At Home & Vet Partners) IVC Evidensia acquired Vets Now in 2019 and Vets Now partned with PDSA. When companies partner with each other both must get some mutual benefit from it. I assume that Vets Now owned by company IVC Evidensia get to use the Brand Name of Charitable Organisation PDSA & presumably PDSA get a share of some of the profits from the outrageously extortionate charges they charge to pet owners. Most people who have a pet are aware of pet fees when taking their beloved pet to the vets when they are ill / poorly. A standard consultation fee at a vets as far as I am aware is around £65 / £ 70 and medicines or exploratory work at extra cost . They are also are aware that if they need the emergency vet outside of normal vet trading hours it would be more expensive, but because they love and care for their pet and want the best for them they understand it's part of the responsibility of having a pet. They expect to pay a reasonable price but don't expect to be ripped off by extortionate fees / prices.. The fee I had pay of £302.50 for a consultation could have been £150 ( Still expensive) but that would be double what a vet standard consultation is and more acceptable and presumably they still make a profit. We as pet owners are a captive audience for these investment companies an we are also between a rock and a hard place when these situations arise.
Positive experience: We brought our boy in as an emergency on Sunday he collapsed on a walk. They were brilliant and got him sorted but the prices are absolutely extortionate
Fantastic experience: We were seen quickly and vet Lizzie was lovely sorted our boy out and sent us home with painkillers and antibiotics
Negative experience: I had the ordeal of trusting these with my dogue de bordeaux. I would never ever recommend Vets Now. My beloved dog Bronson was left in pain and distress in the waiting room while under their so-called “care.” He was visibly in agony - unsettled, couldn't rest, panting, foaming at the mouth, trying to vomit and not bringing anything up, trying to go to the toilet and couldn't, his stomach was visibly bloating the more we sat there while the staff laughed and ensured nothing was missed on their social medias while my dog suffered for 40 minutes in their waiting room. They were aware beforehand that he had recently been diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopthy and was heart medication and water tablets. I ended up calling another emergency vet in the area who said that their wait was 2.5 hours due to emergency surgery so couldn't take him but stressed that I now needed to start knocking on doors for someone to take him seriously and treat him. I ended up having to demand that the receptionist went and got a vet to treat him and in reply said, "I will try to get a nurse down to see him". A couple of minutes after we finally had a vet. The attitude of the staff (apart from 1, who was the vet that finally treated my boy) was appalling – cold, dismissive, and completely lacking in compassion. At a time when we were desperate for help, they showed no empathy and no urgency. My Bronson ended up having to be euthanised after an hour and a half of agony due to GDV. A veterinary service should put animals first, but instead we were made to feel like an inconvenience especially by front of house staff and the nurses. Their unprofessionalism and poor attitude added unnecessary stress to an already heartbreaking situation. The only consolation I have is that after spending 8 years with me, he only really had 2 terrible hours. The vet we had was patient and kind, who let me cuddle on the floor with him for as long as I needed with no rush and worked around us. Although I did have to ask for painkillers for him and the IV line was put in incorrectly or slipped out (unsure) and he ended up bleeding all over the floor. If you value your pet’s comfort and dignity, *avoid Vets Now at all costs*. Please please please take your pet anywhere else - you won't regret it.
Positive experience: GO TO ANIMAL TRUST !! £302 pounds !!! £79 only ‘out of hours emergency ‘ at the Animal Trust . They have all equipment and surgeons too. In regards to here the vets were clean , friendly staff , and wait wasn’t to long . Vet was good informative and gave me symptoms to look out for in the following hours day or so thereafter. It was a Sunday emergency appointment out of my vets hours . The consultation cost 270 pounds and then additional cost of pain relief. It came to around £350 pounds after everything . A further in hours vet appointment due to problem ongoing resulted in a further £45 consultation fee even though the had seen her 4 days earlier same issue , and then another cost for further ultrasound £75 pounds and further pain relief of £20 . I have now managed to register with The Animal Trust . It’s a free 15 min consultation and out if hours emergency appointment costs £79 pounds . I have pet insurance although there is an access and also my premiums would rise ? So I have paid this myself. I really don’t understand why it costs so much more than what the Animal Trust can offer . Hopefully there will be more of these practices in the future coming to a lot more areas .
Positive experience: Great service at 3am.in the morning by the vet, very pleasant and professional. Payment taken prior to drug administration? Unfortunately marred by extortionate pricing , charges do not reflect the service given . They are well aware injured pets are a priority for many people and charge according.
Fantastic experience: Very calm and welcoming atmosphere especially when you are very concerned with a very poorly dog. Great care shown too.
Fantastic experience: Found this please on Google about 12 miles from me open 24 hours. I phoned first got a appointment within an hour great. Found all the staff and vets nice and friendly, helpful. They treated Teddy very straight away. If you need an out of hours vet this is the place. Teddy home now recovering.
Fantastic experience: our Lurcher Percy got bitten by another dog and his side was ripped open. We were seen very quicky by a lovely, friendly and reassuring vet who took great care of our percy, stitching up a difficult and large wound. we couldnt be more grateful for the kindness she showed to our dog, who is quite nervous and anxious at the best of times and not a fan of the vets. you could tell he trusted her to help him. hes already mending up well 3 days later. thank you to everyone there, the work youre doing is so essential. were eternally grateful for helping our boy.
Negative experience: Sat from 08 45 till 12 15 without seeing a vet in Huyton PDSA Clinic.on Sunday August 3rd. I left due to frustration with lack of updates and watching people on benefits being seen promptly by the PDSA Vets. Advised first by reception then by the vets now nurse there was only 1 vet on duty for vets now as the other was off sick and although there was usually 2 or 3 vets on it was just 1 who started at 9 and was dealing with an emergency that had come in earlier. No updates could be provided by the reception team so I was sitting anxiously with my dog (vomiting diarrhoea and had not taken fluids for 36 hours) Not sure if the reception team are affiliated with vets now, as on arrival the receptionist told me to ring "vets now" to say I had arrived (?) I did this and was told to wait to be registered (this didn't happen) . The waiting room is filthy and a dog vomited blood on the floor. After 30 minutes the owner of the dog asked the receptionist whether they had anything she could clear it up with and was told to use blue roll - no disinfectant , nothing. The outside pavement is littered with dried faeces. I took my dog to my own vets on Monday where she was treated with an anti emetic a treatment to treat against gardia infection on a just incase basis and pain relief plus prokolin. My dog was triaged by the vets now nurse after I had been there for 2 hrs and I eventually made the decision to leave based on her observations being stable. I understand that emergencies take priority but I was the only one with a fully insured dog waiting for vets now . Better premises need to be secured and a dedicated receptionist. God forbid I ever have to go there again (I previously have had the misfortune to need to attend) I also think that the consultation fee to see a vet out of hours is scandalous (£320) Fortunately I did not pay this as I did not wait. My own vet fee for a consultation and 3 treatments was £144. Happy to discuss further Please contact me as you have my email
Fantastic experience: We were seen very quickly. Lovely Vet, gentle with my cat and reassured me there was no immediate concern. Nurse at reception who took payment was very patient with extremely stressed owner! Only negative is very high cost of consultation. Fortunately I have insurance.
Fantastic experience: Staff at vets now very friendly and caring. Vet was very professional and caring. I was glad that they are there and I was able to my Border Collie there and put my mind at rest. They do a great job
Fantastic experience: Our little boy Toby, has a bone growth condition and went downhill after his vaccinations (again) once again Vets now in Manchester provided exceptional care to Toby and kept us up to date whenever agreed and were happy to take calls requesting updates too! They took the time to explain everything and answer our extensive list of questions too! 5 star service to both our puppy and ourselves. Would highly recomend
Fantastic experience: Barbara was calming and efficient in a very scary moment. She got my girl Jessie sorted and explained exactly what needed to be done. The reception staff were also very helpful and calming in what can be a stressful time. Thank you
Positive experience: Bit of a wait people went before us even though we were before them in the que and the £300 consultation fee after hours is extortionate we along with 2 othere we're in with the vet maybe 10 minutes so that with an injection was £330 im pretty sure my review would be what most would think.
Fantastic experience: Had to wait a while to be seen because some urgent cases took priority. They gave me a refreshing drink and my dog was treated effectively and staff were helpful and pleasant.
Fantastic experience: Sunday afternoon emergency appointment at short notice. Vet was excellent. Professional, knowledgeable, thorough and clear as well as patient and gentle with elderly cat. Cost seemed high.
Fantastic experience: My dog had to be taken in for emergency treatment and stay over the weekend. All the staff were fantastic. This was a very stressful time for my family and they could not have been more helpful and kind at Vets now and the PDSA both in person and on the telephone. I felt reassured my dog was being looked after in the best possible hands and I can't thank them enough.
Positive experience: Vet was great, informed us about everything we needed to know. Prices upfront so no surprises later. However, I feel that £304 just for the emergency consultation is way to much. I understand you need to cover the Vet's and staff's wages and bills, but it's still way to much. If I'm taking my pet to emergency is because the little one needs it, so I am probably gonna end up paying extra for the treatment. (His treatment in full ended up costing £860) If a normal consultation is around £50, then an emergency could double it if you like, but £300 + treatment and having no other choice than pay or let my furry family suffer, that is not ok.
Positive experience: While we were treated kindly and the vet was lovely, I felt that for the price that we paid, not a lot was done to find out where my pets pain came from. He yelped and struggle to get up. We were not offered an xray. Instead we were offered bloods which we thought was not necessary as my dog clearly had some sort of strained muscle.
Negative experience: Went here emergency out of hours because my dog had a fish hook stuck in her nose. Put her to sleep, then came out and asked me if I'd brought a pair of pliers (which would have been unsanitary) with me because they couldn't find the right tools to finish the job!
Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic vets! all of the staff are amazing, so kind and spoken to with compassion. Dealt with very promptly and explained every single step of what was going on and what I needed to do. Only vets to take our dog in whilst we were struggling financially and able to submit a direct claim from our insurance company. Couldn't praise the vets and all staff I have dealt with in person and on the phone calls enough. Wonderful people and highly recommend.
Negative experience: DO NOT USE! This vet chooses to kill cats over looking for its owner. The cat hadn’t even been there a couple of hours and nothing was wrong with it apart from having a scheduled tooth removal booked in the following week with its own vet.
Negative experience: DO NOT GO HERE! If you have a car go to Animal Trust Ellesmere port which is a quarter of the price, because it's a non-profit, the service is way way better and cleaner!. Cost us £658 to induce our dog to vomit! £302 just to be seen. They argue that it's the costs of running an over night emergency service, but that's complete nonsense, proven by the fact that Ellesmere port Animal trust is a fraction of the cost. Only difference is that it's non profit, meaning that this vets is only about making as much money as possible. The vets seem ok, and they obviously get into the industry to do good, but I couldn't look at myself in the mirror charging really desperate people faced with the possibility of losing their loved ones that kind of money. They're there to exploit our desperation , knowing people will even get into debt to save their Animal. Essentially, the only people happy with this set up is Vets now , making massive profits. I'll probably get a really generic, embarrassing reply back , which I've noticed 90% of the one star reviews have.
Fantastic experience: We use vets 4 pets as our regular veterinary care. This week we had an emergency with one of our cats Tigre. The service and treatment my cat received was second to none and quite possibly saved her life. Many thanks to the team.
Negative experience: Awful experience. I had to use this for out of hours surgery for my dog, waited for 30 minutes listening to the staff talk about their fun weekend whilst my dog died in my arms. They arranged for my dog to be cremated and when I received the ashes it had a different name on the box. The surgery also told me they would keep her collar for me and would also take a paw print, when I went to collect the collar and paw print they couldn’t find it. I would never use this place again, awful.
Negative experience: Awful I took my pet dog because he was vomiting and struggling to pass wee / poo . They gave him a catheter Emptying his bladder. I questioned over his bowel movements. She stuck her fingers in and said he was fine . Sent him On his way . 155 pound for costs . That same day I had to take him back the PDSA . Again they failed him and gave him the same treatment. However did x rays saying his colon was blocked with faeces. Gave him liquid paffin . I had to go back AGAIN! Third vet and told them he clearly needed an enema. Which they gave him . He’s still not out the woods , but a lot better. This cost me 470 pound and I’m not a vet . Shouldn’t have to take numerous visits and me telling people who have gone to university how to treat my dog . Appalling pastrol care do not recommend
Negative experience: Vet was lovely when we eventually got to see her. However, compared to other emergency vet prices this is absolute extortion. Whilst we were there a poor lady had to have her dog put to sleep to the cost of over £800. Absolutely disgusting - receptionist showed her no compassion.
Negative experience: There is no excuse to charge such extortionate prices for emergency animal care. £302 just to be seen. Plus all medications as extra charges. Only the basic level of service is provided, and there is no access to equipment for further medical exploration. It’s a patch them up service that charges far too much for the average pet lover.
Positive experience: We were really grateful for our puppy to be seen recently at the emergency vets in the early hours of the morning. The clinical care was great. However, we were overcharged on the payment and when we returned back in moments later we found out the overcharged payment had been taken on the wrong card machine so we were not able to get refunded until we hear back from the PDSA who own the building. The building, especially the clinical room, was extremely warm and our dog was panting excessively due to stress already, this didn’t help matters. We also were extremely warm. There were also a weirdly large amount of moths around the building, including the clinical room. From the waiting room we were able to hear distressing events happening in the clinical room by reception and this was not nice to experience, especially as we were also worried about our pup. We could hear all clinical details loudly and the poor owner crying. There was no privacy.
Fantastic experience: We recently used the PDSA for our dog, Freddie. After several appointments we had to let Freddie cross the rainbow bridge. The vet and nurses were absolutely amazing. Explained the process and were totally compassionate and kind. Thank you for making a hard process that little bit easier.
Positive experience: Quick and efficient service. Was seen within 15 minutes. Only negative is the cost. Really £310 just for the appointment. Add to this consultation and medication. Playing on pet parents worry and concern for their animals. Charged around £54 for 30 steroid tablets which with a pet prescription cost just 8p each......
Negative experience: I would be very careful about visiting this vets. After our experience there's no compassion they are just very profit orientated as a business you could probably understand but when it's your pet of 11 1/2 years it's not nice. When a loved one becomes ill and they go to hospital the doctor will look them over and tell you if it's bad news. In my opinion this vets knew our dog (poppy) wasn't well and probably wasn't going to make it but instead of saying here sit with her make her comfortable just be with her, no they sent us away to get a coffee after just 3 hours we get a phone call saying it's bad news poppy as died. 3 hours and £1400 later. We give her a tablet everyday for her heart but because she was poorly in the morning and coughing she couldn't swallow it we mentioned this to the vet, 89 pence we pay for one tablet £153 they charged us for the same thing. This is my opinion and yes we are heartbroken but these people could of been a hole lot better all there interested in is money. I would never take any animal there let alone a much loved pet.
Positive experience: Dexter was not good and in pain when I took him as he had hurt his back leg. He was treated with medication and sent home for crate rest. Next day taken to his own vet who also gave more pain relief and medication to take home. Im hoping that hw will recover an be little worrier again. Thank you all.
Positive experience: I was very grateful VetsNow could see me on a Sunday evening. All the staff were lovely, friendly and extremely professional. They can even do all my paper work for my insurance claim absolutely amazing. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is I feel they should work out of a different practice, a lot of people just walked in assuming they could be seen by the PDSA and when finding out costs they were upset and at times very angry and aggressive to the staff who are only doing there job. I believe for staff safety and wellbeing, being located anywhere other than the PDSA building would greatly help x
Fantastic experience: Exactly what I needed an out of hours, emergency service. Fast and friendly. You do pay more than a regular consultation but you have to expect that because they are working unsociable hours. I’ve used before and would recommend them 5*
Positive experience: The staff were very good and dealt with me and my dog brilliantly. The down side is the amount we had to pay for an emergency. I think you play on the heart strings of an owner when you have to decide if you can afford to pay the amount or wait for a normal appointment in your own vets
Fantastic experience: Unfortunately had to visit here over the past week with my cat, Toffee, who was quite sick. However I cannot say how much I appreciated the vets and the team here. They were really supportive, and I’d like to say a special thank you to one of the girls who was at the desk as she even took time to ring me and check up on me and my cat. She was incredible, thank you
Fantastic experience: Amazing staff! The concern for my dog was overwhelming. The receptionist acted quickly to my dogs breathing problem and took her for oxygen as soon as I walked in. The vet talked me through everything and was so good with my dog. Highly recommend. My dog is now home and hopefully on the mend. Thankyou.
Negative experience: I do not recommend. The price of a five-minute consultation is 302.50! It's a joke who agrees to such prices!! I understand the costs, but let's not exaggerate. Generally, the waiting room is dirty, blood on the floor.
Fantastic experience: The Staff at PDSA Liverpool were wonderful despite it being Christmas Day. Kind, thoughtful and couldn’t have asked for more. My little one was in such good hands. The Vet Isabelle was so lovely, keeping us up to date with how things were going. Thank you so much.
Fantastic experience: The vet was lovely and gave Bella a good examination and explained ref meds so thank you very much and she is recovering well
Fantastic experience: My experience at vets now Liverpool was excellent, totally saved my dogs life. The vet Isobel and her team was so kind , showed empathy , caring and dedication , can't thank them enough , xxxxxxx
Fantastic experience: Needed to visit an out of hours vet on Sunday when my minature dachshund (Henri) lost use of his back legs. Phoned Vetsnow Liverpool who were brilliant and reassuring and told me to head straight to the surgery and the vet would be waiting. Seen the vet (Liam) within a few minutes of arriving who examined Henri and diagnosed suspected IVDD. The vet give Henri some strong painkillers and immediately made contact with the specialists in Runcorn. Henri stayed in the vets overnight to allow the vet and nurses to continue to give pain relief and monitor Henri throughout the night. We cannot ‘Thank’ the Vetsnow team Liverpool enough for the wonderful care they give Henri and assistance they provided us. It’s reassuring to know they are open 24hrs 365days per year. An amazing vet service for Liverpool and Merseyside. Care and compassion given was first class.
Fantastic experience: My poor pet was in crisis and needed urgent intervention. I owe much thanks to the young vet who stabilised Tricky Woo.
Negative experience: I’ve would give 3-4 stars for the care my cat received but the lack of empathy towards humans is despicable. I took my cat in with a life threatening condition as my own vets use these as their out of hours emergency vet. It was early on a Sunday morning and the vet explained that my cat needed urgent treatment or he could die. The vet went away and came back with an estimate of the cost of £3000 (it ended up at £2500 for 24 hours) ‘or there is another option say goodbye now and put him to sleep’. I simply told him Absolutely NOT! Even the staff on the reception were …for want of a better description zombie like. I’m not really sure how they justify the cost but we do anything for our furbabies. My own vet is horrified that a vet would be so heartless to say something like that and in that nonchalant manner. My cat is 6 years old so definitely not in his twilight years. My cat needed to remain in a vet’s care for a few days. At another animal hospital (our vet refused to send us back to vets now) the vet there had the same opinion as my own vet. This isn’t the only complaint about Vets Now my vet has received and they will soon be changing to another out of hours vet. I would never take any animal here again. I suggest you take your beloved animal to another vet. My cat is now recovering at home having spent 4 days in a different animal hospital which was considerably less expensive in the region of £1700 cheaper! The care he received was excellent and the vets and staff were empathetic. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! Vets Now Liverpool
Fantastic experience: They saw us very quickly after our dog suffered a suspected seizure and were able to do a blood test and put us at ease. Staff were lovely. Be aware of the prices if your pet isn’t insured. Base fee is £300 or so, plus it was another £100 for the blood work up
Positive experience: My dog was treated quickly and efficiently and we were back home quickly. She made a full, speedy recovery. The treatment was costly but I am glad we could access the care so quickly
Fantastic experience: Took my dog in regard to a surgical wound that opened up. The vet carried out a temprary procedure to make him confortable until I took him to my regular vets ghe following. All the staff and especially were brilliant and provided so much advice
Fantastic experience: Amazing service. Our very sick dog was seen STRAIGHTAWAY. Great also that you do not have to pay upfront if you have insurance as they only take a 25% deposit and they will they claim the rest on your behalf from your insurance company. Lovely people at reception and nice Vets too! Despite them being a 40 min drive from us I will definitely use them again !
Negative experience: The emergency office is shared with PDSA. The staff shortages on reception was absolutely ridiculous considering the fee is £288 just for the appointment! Someone somewhere is making a lot of money it’s ridiculous. The actual vet was great and that is the only reason that the service received any stars at all. It is no fault of the actual staff it is the pure greed of the owners and management
Positive experience: We were so glad of the help from Vets Now. The lady on the phone and at the desk was very helpful and professional. The vet was nice and knowledgeable. We were there a while and it was getting very busy when we left. The cost was a bit steep but the vet fees were explained to me over the phone before we went in. Im happy that my dog is on the mend. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Excellent service, video appointment had identified serious issue that needed immediate action, we were at the emergency vet within an hour of the appointment with our pooch being treated.
Positive experience: Out of hours consultation fee of £230.50 is extortionate and feels like a blatant rip off. When your pet is poorly you have no option but to pay up. My dog was seen quickly and although I'm happy with the outcome, I was only told about costs for what treatment was needed and at the end of the consultation, I had to ask what the problem was.
Fantastic experience: Had to take my eldest dashie to an emergency appointment out of hours. Easy to book, welcomed on arrival. Little wait which was expected then in to see a wonderful vet. Took their time to listen to my concerns and thoroughly checked over my dog. More than confident in their ability and bedside manner so exceptional. Fully explained their diagnosis and I left with correct medication and happier pup.
Fantastic experience: Couldn’t be happier with our experience - Vets Now Liverpool saved our two year old dog’s life (he had bloat- twisted stomach and spleen 360 degrees) by performing major surgery at a moment’s notice. One of the vets was on standby, as they knew our dog was critical from prior telephone communication with me. Within moments of entering the practice, we were in a private consultation room and fifteen minutes later , he was having surgery. Vets Now consist of a dedicated, highly skilled team who have calm, effective communication when pet owner’s emotions are at their highest. A special shout out to Lizzie (Walter’s surgeon) and the team around her that night and weekend, who saved his life - we are so grateful to you.
