Fantastic experience: Today we had to let our beautiful cat Sassy go for her big sleep. Staff were so professional and very compassionate. Even to go as far as to sit with me when I was in a mess crying. It was greatly appreciated. Thank you all at the Kirkdale PDSA. Xxx

Negative experience: Would not recommend this vets whatsoever! My dog was put to sleep I paid for my dog to be individually cremated and instead my dog was cremated and scatted miles away with out my knowledge !!! Do not use this company they don’t care about animals

Paul Posted on Google 5 months ago

Fantastic experience: Great staff large building number of rooms and vets at work..staff have always been lovely. Parking tight and not many spaces at times. The treatment of the animals is 5 star. The worst aspect is probably some of the pets owners.... always been helped by this place and have nothing but praise.

SIMON Latham Posted on Google 6 months ago

Fantastic experience: Absolutely wonderful place. Such friendly and caring people my pooch couldn’t have been in better hands.

Lainey Posted on Google 6 months ago

Fantastic experience: Wonderful vets. Kind, considerate and empathetic staff. But I'm terrified of dogs. 3 women came in with 6 dogs but they seemed to belong to 1 woman and she was letting them go everywhere and kept saying oh he likes you and he's as soft as butter and then telling others don't worry he hurt your dog.

Chris ツ Mcdermott Posted on Google 8 months ago

Fantastic experience: Great and friendly staff that actually care for your pets amazing place and people.

Andy Hilton Posted on Google 8 months ago

Fantastic experience: Very friendly and helpful staff. I was picking up my dogs meds, I only had to wait about 5 mins even though it was busy. Can fault them

Richard Hughes Posted on Google 8 months ago

Negative experience: Oh EMERGENCY phone line for over an hour, with the recording of that woman screeching at me, repeating options over and over again. NO ANSWER no veterinarian advise, I guess it’s just fingers crossed and what my puppy eat will pass through naturally. No point having an emergency number if it’s never answered, STOP THAT recording, you only need to hear it ONCE, after that it becomes painful and that awful screeching voice is unbearable.

Crompton Farquar Posted on Google 8 months ago

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff who are always helpful. Make sure you leave a donation, they deserve it.

Emma Widger Posted on Google 9 months ago

Fantastic experience: I can not express with words alone how amazing these nurses and doctors are. My cat niko sustained a really nasty wound from an abcess, and PDSA kirkdale have been so helpful and caring. They are non-judgmental and gentle in their approach and I appreciate that as a super busy cat mom Niko is so comfortable when he comes here as you can see in the photo - personally all I have had are good experiences here and I hope this is helpful to others who are seeking medical help for their fur babies!

Alan Clare Posted on Google 10 months ago

Negative experience: Totally admire and value work of PDSA but it was excruciatingly complicated to actually get registered and now obtain appointment. lots of numbers to call but same standard auto response. signed up for the reduced price scheme and happy to top up with donation but thats if my cat ever gets to the clinic.

maureen jones Posted on Google 10 months ago

Positive experience: Phoned pdsa up last week about my English bulldog as she was suffering with her ears scratching them they said it wasn't an emergency sent a email 2 days ago sent photos over of her ears an still haven't received a call back from them absolutely a joke been up since 3.45 this morning as she is crying so she must be in pain I thought the pdsa are there to help your baby's.

Colin Birch Posted on Google 11 months ago

Fantastic experience: Such a special place...they're so caring for the animals

Jennie Jenkins Posted on Google 11 months ago

Fantastic experience: Amazing staff very friendly and helpful, when busy you can wait longer but that's expected if they get an emergency in.

Karen Hawthorne Posted on Google 11 months ago

Fantastic experience: Saved my dog Molly twice

Emma Francis Deakin Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Staff were absolutely amazing Thank you

Iain Tolentino Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Definitely waste of time, suppose to help those who need help not , try putting them down and making things worse for the person, the one who just answer the phone definitely needs to be sacked and I'd definitely would not recommend them nor will I be given any money nor buying from their shop's

Megan Otoole Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: absolutely poor behaviour of the way they have treated my friends cat after passing away promising to pick him up on the 21st feb and left him for a further 6 days with not being sent off horrendous behaviour hygiene level very poor no level off clear to the pet are the owners

Paige-patricia Emsley Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Thank you to all the staff youse are amazing. Although the wait can be a little long all staff in there take great care in of your pets

Su Evans-McSherry Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: An amazing charity for your animals, the only thing I struggle with is 1 pet per house address, when you rent out other rooms the tenant who is renting the room is unable to claim the same right to 1 pet they have to pay the second pet reduced prices. Yes I understand that the charity has had to make 1 pet per household due to past clients abusing the care by have multiple animals registered for the free treatments and vets times etc, but to not even taken MHO house holds in to account is a little to far in my personal opinion. The service now charges £20 per visit instead of the voluntary payments and I agree with this as I have known people except everything they offer and contribute zero or close to zero in the past, this put the service provider into financial hardship to were it would have closed down and then there would be no way for people to access this service any where else, they do an amazing job looking after our pets and their health for pennies and not even that considering their overheads and supplying medication for our pets. I have used the pdsa as an extremely happy client for many many years they are absolutely a god send. Lets not abuse the kindness this charity serves

Alan Gulliver Posted on Google 1 year ago

Emily-Anne Loughead Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Absolutely ridiculous service from the pdsa! Trying to call for my elderly nan and just get told by automated services that everything has to be done online or by email. Which my nan has neither of being 88. Absolutely ridiculous

John Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Exceptionally friendly and attentive. I'm sure many people would be lost without the service of those at the PDSA, and especially this branch.

J Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: I was using this vets 2 years, ago. A vet she was foreign actually said for me to feed my little dog tinned chappy, what an insult a vet who is not a nutritionalist , my dog gets proper meat and veg, and a sqirt of omega, very detached and cold she was, iv had a few lessons from this vet, moving on. I bought Dr jones a American vets book, he goes against these vets they are dishing out vaccines necessary, flee stuff , just buy neem oil and dilute it, go on youtube, don't take the word of these vets as god, I have learned along the way, no boosters injections etc, no nurturing, they claim, "" "" oh your dog COULD get cancer, it's all bull shit, listen to your instinct

Joanne W Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Must say thank you to PDSA for the care and support with both my dogs recently

Jamie Pyke Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Much more helpful then Huyton PDSA not as busy and less scally's roaming around with there illegal dogs. Thanks for your help with our Kitty.

Fiona J Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: I am eternally grateful to our lovely vet Amelia who took such great care of my dog and also recognised her condition was life threatening and found a place to refer us to so she could get the specialist treatment she needed. Due to Amelia calling ahead and getting the referral for us so quickly, we were seen within three hours and the specialist saved my dogs life. I honestly can’t thank you enough.

lisa hindley Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Charlotte our vet couldn't have been nicer to our cat. OK there was abit of a wait but it was a relaxing environment and everybody from the reception staff to the pharmacy were so kind.

Fantastic experience: Had to have my son's dog put to sleep Friday and the compassion the vets showed us and bow was excellent,I did a gofund me page and was able to give a donation to this amazing vet centre

Candycane Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Reception staff are so rude. Not sure if it because people who need to attend PDSA are on low income or no income and they think they can speak to customers the way they do. Rude and patronising!!! Not sure if vet receptionist are worse then doctor’s receptionist :(

Elaine Benson Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Went on the,15 May sick cat extremely friendly, kind knowing my cat was sick he is on palliative care gave him injection for infection and pain. The vet knew I was upset and helped calm me down and now he seems a lot better and eating. Can't not thank them enough whilst going through this tough time.

Fantastic experience: This place is amazing. Fabulous staff and very helpful and polite. Vets are fab too rang me up twice to see how my dog was..very worried and the ammount of money they get does not cover what they do..

John Smart Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Yes i telephoned kirkdale the emergency number on friday saying my dog had vomited several times in the night and twice in the morning she was not eating and was not herself they told me its a non emergency change her food she started getting worse on saturday night i took her to huyston hospital sunday morning they said she may pass in a few hrs she really sick her kidneys were failing they so thanks to someone making a jugment call she suffered all weekend its possible they could of prevented before they failed if she had been on friday or atleast put her to sleep sooner rather than her suffer

Chris Ilabaca Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Excellent service, they looked after our cat in a difficult time and were warm and welcoming. I couldn’t recommend them enough.

Kane Abel Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: They provide a service thats the best I can say, they are probably underfunded and it shows. Good people bring family members here to die. Thats my experience, I've had 2 cats leave early. Its a bit like going into hospital after reaching 70. You won't be walking out

john morgan Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: One of the friendlier places I have been. Really good with pets. All ways a massive help to all and I thank you for this service. Keep up the fantastic work you do for our loving pets. And the pets who need re homing

Teri Bourne Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: It's a charity and it's wonderful because of that. I will say however that the service was far better before COVID, but being realistic it's amazing that they are still able to provide any kind of help after the devastating effect of the lockdowns on their fundraising activities. As far as I'm concerned they can do no wrong. Thank you PDSA for all your excellent work.

a2b b2a Posted on Google 2 years ago

Elaine Charnock Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Not good atall cause I was waiting on proof of housing benefit even when I've been going there for years said I had to pay £20..OK when I was there they said I need to pay £17.50 for antibiotics I didn't have that money so they wudnt give me them till I got paid 4days later and they are suppose to care about dogs...I'm 65 and was treated appalingly by reception staff...Jane seddon

Chris Quarless Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: My very 1st time at a vets and it was to take my 22 year old cat Daisy to be treated. She was old, seemed to have lost all capacity. The reception staff & vets treated Daisy & us with compassion, dignity and care. Alas she wasnt able to come home with us and we had to say goodbye as she was put to sleep to halt anymore suffering for her. Wonderful establishment

Dolly D Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: For getting in touch by phone with Kirkdale and probably any pdsa is extremely hard there’s no operator to take a simple call it’s all automated pressing of numbers No actual person to speak to just to say lm running late for my appointment? So for this l score imthat part of service a 1star unfortunately

g sp Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: SUPERB. The staff went above and beyond for my pet. Tom, Amy, Caroline, Donald, Helen, Daisy, Janet, Sophie ... so kind, so patient, so invested in getting her better. Absolutely amazing team. They and all the staff were working so hard with their limited staffing. Superb job. Reception were so caring too.

Stuart Clarke Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: The benefits side of this business is definitely subsidised by the almost criminally over-inflated private side. All they want is your money before all else for a company with the motto 'Saving pets is what we do' it's ironically farsical. Zero compassion, impossible to get a straight answer or speak to anyone of seniority without experiencing rudeness, lack of empathy and indifference across the board. I hope Jan McLoughlin enjoys her £155k salary knowing this organisation is rotten to the core and purely driven solely on profit alone. Clean house Jan because it's only a matter of time before you are investigated for malpractice and literally ripping people off. I hope you sleep well at night

Andrew Brunskill Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: I've always took my furbabbies To the PDSA. They do an amazing job. In time of help when any of my furbabbies have Taken ill or when it's time to say goodbye

Fantastic experience: Devastated to lose our kitten but staff here were absolutely incredible and so understanding. They explained everything simply and compassionately. They deserve so much respect and recognition for everything they do each day. Thank you both kirkdake and Huyton branch , you were amazing

Liz Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Staff were very helpful and welcoming. Explained medications thoroughly. Calm, clean waiting area. Donations always welcome and needed so please give generously if you can.

Murray Murray Posted on Google 2 years ago

Positive experience: The staff are really nice they're limited with the care they provided due to costs. It's important people donate each visit to keep this service going.

Anthony Baines Kimberley Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Amazing PDSA look after are 2 cats whisper & Luna past year and so sad we are leaving thay don't done appointments and check ups no more thank you for everything

Claude Anderson Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: Used to be nice also smell very clean now you walk in and it stinks . an you can't get to see anyone am on benefits and they told me to go to a private vet even tho i can't afford to pay much an no vets near me will take bits of money at a time unless i travel miles away also there sending people away whos on there list saying they can't take new people but iv been going there for years ... this world has gone made .. so if you haven't been though lock down ( even tho u wasn't allowed out anywhere) go and find elsewhere as they won't entertain you ..

Jacquie Carroll Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: The staff are always friendly and caring when iv had to visit over the years but sadly I won't be coming anymore as my last visit resulted in my fair baby going off to doggy heaven, I wasn't rushed to leave but given time to say goodbye I would always recommend this place for sick pets as everyone is treated with patients and expertise Goodnight Dixie boy

X2 E Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: A sad day as was only here due to end of life for our cat meowski . However the PDSA is needed and a valued service. To many vets chase money over care for our pets the PDSA choose care of money and our pets deserve that Still a valid amd mush needed service. If any one in any doubt what the privatisation of the nhs will mean for most in the NW just vist amd pdsa waiting area and imagine it was you that was the pet.

Susan Rossiter Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: I would just like to say a big thankyou to the caring compassionate vet who sadly had to put my daughters dog Daisy to sleep this week, a heartbreaking decision which she helped us through.

LiMa 13 Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: I know you may have to wait a little while but it's worth it, this pdsa saved my beautiful boys life last year after he had a stroke and for that I'll always be grateful.

Mel York Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Cannot fault at all.we have been going for a long time with our poorly dog who is still with us..our 15yr old other cav suddenly fell ill wiith a brain tumour and 2 weeks later needed to go for his long sleep. They'd never really seen him as he was always fine yet treated him with the most respect and made it so much easier for us..he went sleep with his favourite blanket and mouse which they kept with him until he was collected which gave us so much comfort. Today he was returned to us and his blanket and mouse are saving him his space on his sofa.thankyou so much for everything to all of you..love us and Red and dodge x

chris dyson Posted on Google 3 years ago

I still don't know if hr will make it but I appreciate your support and the amazing things you do for the care of our much loved pets. Many thanks. Xxx

Paul McGinnigle Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: My sons puppy Lucy had been attacked and bottom jaw snapped in half. Stephen the surgeon here is a miracle worker. He wasnt sure because of her small size and the severity but he gave it all. It's only been 24 hours and he's wired it together so we'll even tho others wouldn't. She's already eating and drinking the food provided without the syring tail wagging and miracle dog. Thankyou so much! Day 2 photo and day 4 added.

Ruby Slippers Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: My elderley mum brought her new rescue in to the Huyton hospital at the weekend. According to the website she is eligible for low cost treatment due to pension credits.the dog was very poorly with a huge ear heamatome that looks like it will pop at any time.she is clearly in pain and off her food. The reception said it wasn't an emergency and they would see her on Monday. My poor mum and a very poorly dog attended the kirkdale surgery today. The dog didn't get to see a vet but a very nasty receptionist told my mum that they don't accept walk ins nor pension credits although the website clearly states pension credits do count. They offered a very sick dog an appointment in 3 weeks time and let her leave the surgery in pain without even advice. My mum left in tears at the way she was treated. God help the poor animals if this is the level of compassion offered. Absolutely shocking.

Terri Barton Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Staff are fantastic nothing is a bother to them, they helped me massively when my fur baby was really poorly and I can't thank them enough

Andy Pinnington Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: They don't want to treat my girl even though she cuts her ears everyday. Their terrible and left my girl suffering and with no quality oflife. I'm now looking at maybe having my 3 year old put down as the quality of life is going down the vets are not interested

Dani elle Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: They don’t give you an appointment after you contact them via the online form. Been waiting months and they never got back to me. Appalling. You can’t call them about it either, the phone automatically disconnects you if you don’t select the urgent medical care option.

Keith Canning Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Excellent at what they do helping people who need them but haven't got the finance's for their pet's needs due to circumstances beyond there control

Daniel Rawes Posted on Google 3 years ago

Positive experience: Got my dog an appointment straight away and she had an opp 2 weeks later which all went well. Vets and assistants absolutely great they couldn't do enough for my dog. The only downside was the manchild on the front desk! Was rude to my elderly nan and was laughing and joking about pressuring elderly people into making larger donations than they intended. I understand they need the help and I donated £100 myself but some elderly people can't afford it and I found this behaviour to be absolutely disgusting and of a bullying nature. Let's the place down massively.

Lfcsue23 Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: So grateful for places like this. Got a quick appointment for my cat who is poorly. Bit of a wait but no worries. Place is clean and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.

NM Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Thank goodness for the PDSA. It's really sad that private vets have lost sight of their cause. Our pets don't have a voice but their lives are beyond precious to their owners. Always donate to the PDSA if you've been fortunate enough to receive an appointment. Private vets are extortionate! A donation is the least we can do for what the PDSA consistently do day in, day out. Genuinely, THANK YOU to all involved with the care shown to Fergus this week.

James Wilkinson Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Took the neighbour and her cat there, cat is old and seriously Ill the staff were all very caring and helpful and did all they could for him to get better fingers crossed for him but I have nothing but praise for the caring staff at this wonderful organization.

Lorraine Dean Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Not as busy. Plenty of seating's and theirs a cat corner too. Very helpful, friendly and approachable, staff. As they are charitable, donations are needed to keep PDSA running.
