Liverpool (Huyton) PDSA Pet Hospital: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Really good practice for the price
Fantastic experience: Caring and spot on saving our Pomeranian .
Fantastic experience: My vet is not here went with an emergency they were spot on
Fantastic experience: Just want to say a very big thankyou to the lovely vet and staff who looked after my mums dog Dash following a dog bite. Such a fantastic place that needs our support to continue the great work they all do. If you have any spare cash please donate.
Negative experience: Absolute disgusted that they let me walk away with my dog in my arms not able to walk!! Wouldn't even see him unless I paid £300+ even though I stated I was on benefits.. then tried sending me to Ellesmere port to pay even more.. so currently at home keeping my dog close to me because I can't afford him to be seen!!
Fantastic experience: I had to take my little dog of 17 years Chip on Tuesday. The PDSA were the only one that would help me my local Vets at White Cross wanted £400 and I just don’t even have anywhere near I’m 66 years old. Somebody said try the PDSA and I did and they were brilliant. They told me to bring her down straight away. I knew before I got there I was gonna happen. But they were really kind explained everything even though I already knew I hold them while I put it to sleep. It broke my heart, but yeah, it really kind stuff really kind and thank you so much.
Positive experience: Wot a job they are doing, they are very polite and caring
Negative experience: Disgraceful place ..my dog has always been under pdsa bootle but because she's not been for 2 yrs Huyton wudnt see to her Saturday morning as she was really ill and needed vetinary care asap ..she sadly had to be pts Saturday by a lovely vet in Crosby...call yourself animal lovers ..definitely not..receptionist had no manners at all or sympathy
Fantastic experience: PDSA Huyton, large vet practice for any animals, they have discounted prices for people on low incomes. It's always clean and well maintained with helpful staff and really lovely vets.
Negative experience: Absolutely abysmal treatment of my dog, whilst they saved his life they also pushed me to put him down as he I their words wasn’t getting any better but also wasn’t getting any worse. I paid for an xray, to which they missed an obstruction in his stomach & gut. They sent him home stating they were not concerned, he ‘had gas in his stomach’ he was still clearly in a lot of pain. I called the night he was sent home begging to bring him back in, I was told he will be okay until tomorrow morning and sent me on to the chat vets. They advised to bring him in at 9am, I attempted to make an appointment at 9am for him I was advised my appointment would be 2pm instead. Second X-ray they located the obstruction vet I dealt with was helpful cannot say that about any of the others. I paid for his operation and they brought me in to show me him, he looked comfortable and I felt at ease. The situation spiralled from there my dog was left in his own urine for 4 days, I asked why he wasn’t catheterised I was met with I’ll check.. I was never told why. His stomach was severely leaky drenching down his legs he was saturated I asked if this was normal I was assured it was, only then to be told it was because he needed another surgery days later due to an infection in his intestines. They kept him drugged up on morphine and methadone to which I asked them to reduce because he was struggling on these drugs was not eating seemed scared and acted severely out of character I was told they could not because his pain score was so high, I asked how they scored his pain they advised me a number of ways when I advised he is a hypersensitive breed already and he is intolerant to touch even with his family I was quickly shut down and dismissed. I advised I was taking him home they advised I should not as he’s still really poorly and is not getting any better. I was advised due to this 4 days after spending hours laying on the floor with him in the vet room trying to build his spirit and coax him to eat that its probably best to seek other options as he was not improving and it would be best if I put him to sleep. I advised he was not getting any worse and I would not be putting him asleep and I was taking him home.. the dog that lay lifeless on the floor in that vet room and refused to eat for 4 days dragged me out of the room I ordered a hackney he practically dragged me in the back, the dog they advised was not getting any better was suffering from depression from being in unfamiliar surroundings and from being without his strongly bonded sister and family! Please do not allow these to advise you to put your dog asleep trust your gut and ask as many questions as possible. I could have lost a 4 year old healthy dog if I had allowed myself to be persuaded to listen to their ‘expertise’ whilst they saved his life with the operation the treatment thereafter was horrific and whilst im grateful to have him I’ve lost all trust in vets.
Fantastic experience: Pdsa were great for wat they do taking in an injured robin
Fantastic experience: Really appreciate the help I got and the staff our supported for your s3lf
Negative experience: Lost 2 puppies, because the C section cost £380,and they didn't think i could afford it so was told to let it happen naturally,, after 2nd dead puppy, and 4th emergency call, was told its expensive, and they would need paying first!!, I paid they saved 2 puppies, could have been all 4 if they had not judged me over the phone.
Negative experience: We brought a sick cat crying and asking for help. These people did not provide any help because the cat was homeless. They said it doesn't matter that the animal is suffering. We have to take it in first. Those who pay money are inhumane. They offered to take it to a shelter and wait at the door. It's scary what kind of superhumans work there.
Fantastic experience: We had to sadly attend on a Sunday morning emergency with our boy Kolo. He was very unwell, but PDSA and the vet and veterinary nurse were just amazing. We had to put kolo to sleep, but they were so kind and considerate and everything I had always dreaded happening never happened. It was so peaceful and kind and humane, I will appreciate that vet forever. Thank you
Negative experience: I am writing this review through complete devastation after the way our dog Nala was treated under the care of PDSA Huyton. What we went through was beyond disappointing — it was traumatic — and in my opinion, no animal should ever have to suffer the way she did. 1. No Parvo Snap Test, No Feeding Tube, No Urgency My dog hadn’t eaten for 14 days. When we first went to PDSA Huyton — on day 4 of her not eating — we expected urgency, thorough checks, and proper guidance. Instead, we were told nothing about a parvo snap test, even though parvo is a life-threatening disease and should be ruled out immediately. On top of that, they said “we don’t do feeding tubes.” Fine — but why were we not at least informed that feeding tubes even exist as an option elsewhere? Why were we not told about the risks of starvation or what steps could be taken? We felt completely left in the dark while our dog was getting weaker by the day. 2. Sent on a Pointless Journey to Ellesmere Port On what ended up being Nala’s last night, PDSA Huyton sent us to Ellesmere Port for further care. Ellesmere Port then told us they needed Nala’s history from PDSA — but PDSA claimed they “didn’t have their number.” So we drove half an hour, stressed, desperate, and emotionally drained, only to be turned away at the door. This wasn’t just inconvenient — it was cruel. We were passed around with no communication, no preparation, and no responsibility taken. 3. The Outcome We Can Never Undo Our dog died of starvation. We trusted professionals to help her. Instead, we feel like she was failed, brushed off, and left to deteriorate. In my personal experience, PDSA Huyton did not show the care, urgency, or basic communication that any animal deserves, especially one who is seriously unwell. What happened to our dog should never happen to anyone else’s pet. I will never take any animal there again, and based on what we went through, I cannot recommend PDSA Huyton to anyone. They let our dog down in the worst possible way — and we are left heartbroken because of it.
Fantastic experience: Last hugs with our boy. The staff were so amazing. Cannot thank them enough. Their knowledge, experience, care and kindness were second to none. Thank you for looking after us all during our visit with you
Positive experience: Had to take my dog there to the emergency vets now out of hours when he started limping and was in pain and my normal vets was closed. Vets and staff were lovely. Couldn't fault them. But over £300 to see the vet for 10 minutes???
Negative experience: Made the mistake of using this service for a dog and a rabbit and were not good. Maybe cheap, but not a good place, sorry.
Negative experience: My family and I are very upset due to a vet that was dishonest and gave my family and I false hope my dog had major surgery and due to panic, stress, fear etc I asked her whilst she is in recovery “is my dog going to die” her response was “no, absolutely not” 12:02AM we received a phone call she sadly passed away. We are all mortified and angry as we all had false hope due to dishonesty
Fantastic experience: Very kind and understanding team. We had to visit at the worst of times and out of hours. The team were quick to carefully take our ageing ill dog in on a stretcher. Sadly the worst of outcomes, but the team supported us to have time to say goodbye and be there for our dog as she passed.
Fantastic experience: Can't PRAISE them enough . My dog (Milo) postcode L122AT suffering with eye an ear issues. They have gone above and beyond to sort it out . Tests , numerous medicines but also made Milo feel at ease from time he got in there . Milo is now on repeat prescription to sort his ongoing problems . We'd be lost without Huyton PDSA 100/100
Fantastic experience: So good with me and my cat who had been bitten by a dog and was in a bad way. Csnt thank them enough xx
Negative experience: AWFUL do not go here at all. they nearly killed my cat. she had pyometra and they missed it on the scan because they didn’t do it properly sent us home with tablets for her to take, a few days later my cat ended up in terrible condition and nearly died from the pyometra. took her to our vets and they said it is the worst pyo they have ever seen and in the youngest cat they have ever seen and it should have been picked up on the scan that the pdsa did. she had to have emergency surgery and is now recovering. DO NOT take ur pet here if it’s the last thing u do it is not worth it
Fantastic experience: Thank you for looking after my babies over the years
Fantastic experience: Twice they have saved my cats life. I cannot rate them highly enough.
Negative experience: Very unprofessional, receptionist are very judgemental, talk down at you like you don't know anything and think they can play god. The manager she is the most untrustworthy person and I don't feel confident that this practice can provide veterinary care. Not only they have made numerous mistakes the lack of knowledge of her and her staff especially the receptionist are appalling. Also when it comes to donations they treat it as you have to give money over and pressure you in doing so , they make you feel like you have no choice if you haven't contributed in a short while. The centre in its self is dirty, blood and urine stains don't get mopped up by the staff , they just leave it. It used to be a really good place years ago, can't say the same anymore, staff need retraining, receptionist need to not have a god complex and they need to actually look after people's pets. I don't think this pdsa surgery is fit for purpose.
Negative experience: This place should be branded as the People's Dispensary for Slaughter-bound Animals as that's a more fitting description for this glorified slaughterhouse. I have had to attend on a few occasions for minor illnesses such as ear infection, or a recurring issue with my dogs eye, but from the age of about 8, the first comment from the vets mouth was usually about having him put down. And they expect donations for this, donations are for good service, not offering my pet up to rack up your body count. I would like to point out my pet sadly did pass away, at the age of 15, 7 years later after they began suggesting having him put down. He passed of natural causes (old age) as confirmed by a real vet in a private surgery. This place has never offered help, only wanting the quick and easy route out. I would highly recommend avoiding this place at all costs, for your own sake if you can help it. However, should you unfortunately need to use this service, (fingers crossed I hope not), make sure you do challenge the vets decision and have them explain clearly why they suggest the treatment they do. You know your pet best so don't just take your vets word on it, especially euthanasia. Keep your loved ones as long as you can but please don't have them suffer unnecessarily, either from illness or the vets ignorance.
Negative experience: Still cannot get over how awful our dog was treated when in their "care". Went to them with our french bulldog who had hurt her back around 7pm in the evening. We were under the impression that she would be looked after and scanned etc. We paid the requested lump sum of money. We were unable to leave a blanket as it might get lost etc so assumed she would be warm enough. Got a call early hours asking to collect her by 7am the next day as there was no change. We collected her and she looked like another dog and was paralysed. She was full of faeces and wee. The muzzle they put on her in the evening was still on her poor little face and it was definitely on her all night as her face was RED RAW. She was shaking and physically cold to the touch. We asked what she needed operation wise and was told that the operation needed would be around 15 thousand and the success rate was less than 10%. We were advised to take her to our local vets. Surely this advise could have been given to us sooner instead of leaving our poor dog to suffer overnight. I won't post images of how our dog was left in their "care" as we still find this upsetting to this day. We then had to pay a large sump of money and have her put to sleep which was the kindest thing to do and should have been done sooner. Then comes the really nice touching part... we received a sympathy card for our loss a short time later with a letter saying we owed them £2 something!!!!
Fantastic experience: Brilliant charity with dedicated staff. Taking care of our fur baby's ❤️
Fantastic experience: Made my pet care affordable and caring vets
Positive experience: My cat went missing for days, he luckily managed to come home but seemed off. Managed to get an appointment quickly where he was looked over & temperature taken. We were sent away with antibiotics & anti inflammatory medication. He perked up after one or two days on medications and started eating and using litter tray and seemed okay in himself. Then today the worst thing I’ve ever experienced happened, our cat started having a fit. We live a short drive away so whilst getting him there I was having to give him cpr. Once we arrived i asked for help and found in an emergency case like this the receptionist staff could have been quicker to get him urgently seen as every second matters in a situation like this. Instead of asking me all the questions I think personally my cat should have been taken from my arms and dealt with before having to give in my information and asking me for payment whilst I’m covered in my dying cats sick/ wee & poo. Unfortunately my cat died in my arms in the reception. The vets were absolutely understanding and so lovely and tried their best to get him back. They let me say goodbye and told me there was no rush. All I was told was could have just had underlying heart issues or maybe a head injury. Returning home without my beloved pet has crushed me and my kids and I can’t help thinking the outcome may have been a lot different if there was a sense of real urgency in a case like this not questions and wanting payment and when we first got him to the vets after being missing 2 days earlier maybe more in depth tests should have been offered. Scans and blood tests to see if there was anything we were missing before we brought him home and started his medication. He suffered in his final moments and that will haunt us forever and we will have to live with the what ifs and wonder if the outcome maybe different if this and that were done but if I can share our experience maybe it will stop it happening to someone else. Please act quickly and please push for more in-depth test as he didn’t deserve to die having multiple seizures in my arms. Thank you to all the vets and staff who tried to save our boy
Fantastic experience: Staff was amazing, they really do a great job.
Negative experience: Took my cousin with her puppy but because it was a Saturday they refused to help her. Upset and worried sick over her dog they just laughed and turned her away with no advice or anythink. Very unprofessional and no people skills from the 2 receptionists!
Fantastic experience: Outstanding staff, everyone was so caring and polite, the vet treated meg with compassion and respect and even though she passed she did so in the most peacefull and dignified way, he made sure she wasn't in any pain or discomfort and gave us time to be with her, she was a part of our family and losing her was extremely difficult and upsetting but knowing that she went to sleep in the most peaceful way possible meant everything to us and I cant thank the vet and the staff enough, thankyou
Positive experience: Staff and vets really helpfull, unfortunately age had caught up with our little dog so we had to let her go,but would be lost without these places in time of need.cant give 5 stars because that's a loved it rating. Only 3 stars because you dont want to be there really.
Fantastic experience: Lovely friendly staff. Treat the animals with care would definitely recommend this place
Fantastic experience: Amazing staff . Very caring did amazing to help my poor tilly.. will forver be grateful for there efforts .
Fantastic experience: Amazing vets do amazing work to thank you to all the hard working vets and others behind the scenes
Fantastic experience: The vets at PDSA make it affordable to keep my little pup in a good quality of life. The team are lovely and so caring. Yes, sometimes there are delays just like in a human doctors/hospital, but that is life and if someone else's appointment is taking longer or they get prioritised ahead of you then just be glad that your pet isn't the most poorly pet on that day!! Forever grateful for the care they provide for my girl, and I'm blessed to be able to access it
Fantastic experience: Staff treated my daughter with care and looked after her as her pet guinea pig passed away
Fantastic experience: Had to take my little 14 year old yorkie Rico last night as he wasnt well, thankyou vet Barbara for putting our minds at rest. X
Fantastic experience: Long wait time but thats to be expected with an emergency animal hospital. Staff were very friendly and attentive to my dog's needs.
Negative experience: It’s taken me a long long time debating on posting this but I’ve decided it’s no longer morally acceptable to keep this to myself. Bullying is rife in this clinic, avoid at all times, brought up to management multiple times with no support or any consequences for other members of staffs actions.
Positive experience: Out of hours emergency service. Needed to wait for an hour and half but managed to see a vet and get my dog treated.
Fantastic experience: They saved my puppies life last night, I will always be so grateful for that. The cost was irrelevant as she wouldn’t have made it without them.
Fantastic experience: One of the best PDSA's for your pets, staff are so nice and knowledgeable, Poppy, my staffy, has visited them on a few occasions and every time they are so sweet with her! Amazing people!!!
Fantastic experience: Brillant, fast, friendly Service.
Positive experience: I have used there services for years now and slowly they have gotten unfortunately more un organised.the system is massively flawed and completely taken advantage of wich is a shame.they try there best with what they have and I'm completely grateful but some things do need to change.
Fantastic experience: I had my baby put to sleep yesterday and the vet and nurse I thank you for doing what you do. I'm happy he's gone to sleep peacefully something he's always loved. He is our first baby we got him before we had kids and he adjusted so well.
Fantastic experience: The actual vet staff in this hospital are phenomenal. Literally saved my dogs life from a virus, gave us updates throughout his hospitalisation and we’re very understanding and compassionate when it came to my dogs health. The reception staff can be very short with you, they did come off as rude to me and other people in the waiting room. I also actually heard them talking about my family/pets situation whilst I was sat waiting with my dog but they where very apologetic in the end for my wait time. However, don’t let this discredit you from taking your pet here as the care overall is amazing especially for people who cannot afford private vet fees - without PDSA my dog would have sadly passed away so we owe them our life.
Negative experience: HORRIBLE,EVIL PEOPLE. took my hamster in for a check up and left with a legless hamster. why did u steal my hamsters legs?
Negative experience: Staff can be a bit judgemental when it comes to contributions. The vet almost gave my cat the wrong medical if I didn't ask what it was.. not great. Took forever to get my cats records. The only reason they have 2 stars is because they did actually give me the antibiotics I needed.
Fantastic experience: The staff are amazing, and genuinely care for the animals they look after.
Fantastic experience: Do a fantastic job for the community and our beloved pets
Fantastic experience: They took very good care of my dog Daisy when she had problems giving birth. The puppy got stuck and she couldn't get him out. A very gentle and patient vet because she could make the best decision for me in this situation. I recommend this clinic.
Fantastic experience: Great place for people who need low cost or free vetinary care, but I do recommend if you can to pay a donation or contribution because if the pdsa didn't exist people would have to pay high cost vet bills, it's a lifeline for people and their pets
Negative experience: Disgusting service took my cat to be neutered as they go on about how it’s safer for cats etc for my cat to starve all day waiting for her turn to then not get it done at all something that only takes 5-10 minutes she was stuck in cage all day as cat lovers no no cat likes being in confined space for hours on end no blanket food or water for me to then rebook an then they say next apps are June absolutely vile vets so now I have to save go private as can’t risk her getting pregnant or infections
Fantastic experience: This place is amazing, the staff are so friendly and helpful. It is very easy to find, there is plenty of parking space and it is wheelchair friendly. Please help by making good donations if you are able
Negative experience: Unfortunately, they only attend people that get benefits, if you don’t have one. Forget it, on the google says free treatments or low costs fees, but without benefits you will pay absurd amounts, in an emergency case should be accessible for everyone, cause it’s an emergency ‼️ people only think in get money , some people can’t afford to pay high amounts and that’s not nice
Negative experience: Incompetent, a disgrace this so called animal charity. Staff have no manners whatsoever. The phone lines are not answered in a timely manner for emergencies. The waiting room is stifling hot. They give you a specific appointment time and leave you waiting for 3 hours, what is the point of a appointment then? Lots of staff around but not doing any work, but say they are rushed off their feet. Staff are clearly rude and abrasive. Consult took 2 mins rushed in & out. No offers of treatment for pet just bad manners, and bad attitude, they do not care about your pet only the money. They offer no real health services for your beloved pet. Take your pet elsewhere.
Negative experience: Great if you can make contact, otherwise disgraceful, the website has a phone number for enquiries, but will any members of staff pick up the phone? Will they Buggery has anyone else encountered this issue? I would bet my life that many many people have suffered this and had the heartbreak of watching their sick pet suffer, if you are not savvy with all this online stuff you have no chance of navigating the pdsa website, I no longer donate to this organisation and now send my collected donations to the Dogs Trust,, PDSA Shameful.
Fantastic experience: PDSA Huyton is amazing. They were brilliant with my dog when she broke her foot. It got infected and needed amputating. They were fabulous, we have needed treatment for a few things since & honestly can not fault them. Lovely caring staff who deserve a medal x
Fantastic experience: It's a great place for your pets to get help if you can't afford a vet but please a donation would be great how big or small thanks
Fantastic experience: I would like to thank psda treated my bam bam he been bit my a cat or maybe fox big absence on head and cheek head treatment very quickly very good with him asso has on going ear infection for 2 years all better now
Fantastic experience: I just want to say a big thank you to the Pdsa Huyton Hospital staff! I brought my 14 year old husky in today Bella as she has been suffering with nose bleeds and this one this morning was very bad. We had recently seen her registered vets over this but as today it was out of hours we had to get an emergency appointment. I rang straight through to pdsa huyton and they got us in right away. From start to finish they was so careful and gentle with my baby girl. And very kind and calm with us as we was in panic mode! We had to leave our bella there to be checked over for afew hours and she came home so settled and calm. A huge thank you especially at this time with it being Christmas in 3 days!!!. Many thanks Bella’s family.
Fantastic experience: Wouldn,t say i loved it as it,s where my Dog was put to sleep after 14+years but the Staff where great in eveey way
Fantastic experience: This is an amazing place where doctors nurses and all admin staff are fantastic. It's a safe environment and a kind atmosphere. Animals are triaged and treated accordingly to their condition. Extremely kind personal and clinicians. Every animal is treated brilliant and with care. Donate if you can.
Fantastic experience: Took my feline friend Ruby here today, the vet was lovely, she gave her the flu vaccine and also great advice about some other things.
Negative experience: On Thursday, the 21st of November I rang the vets to inform them. I will be bringing my dog in at 9 am as he was vomiting and pooping blood. I was told to wait till 12:30 pm. We ignored that I’m rushed him in where they took his bloods and came back normal range And he was just severely dehydrated but still wanted to keep him in overnight to put him on a drip and antibiotics fast forward Friday morning. Me and Another family members tried to contact the vets which was near enough impossible but finally I got to speak to someone and got told they cannot tell us any information as a vet will ring us after 5 pm. I spoke to that woman around 11 am Friday morning, we finally got a phone call at 5 pm to be told has passed away early in the morning and they advised us not to come in and see him and remember him how he was but we rushed straight away to be told he died at 7:30 and they tried to contact us but they never we had no missed calls or voicemails off them we asked for an email of proof of call log and we also showed our call log to them to prove there was no missed call or voicemail and the vet explains that his cause of death was from a disease but I can’t comprehend how that didn’t show in his bloods that was taken the day before and when is blood came back normal? How when he does that died of his disease? My dog was four years old fit and healthy never been ill before. Some thinking is not adding up. My poor baby boy died all alone by himself surrounded by stranger no love! And we didn’t even find out untill 10 hour after he passed! I want answers something isn’t right about his death!
Fantastic experience: Well this was a very sad day for me I had taken missy to the vet hospital and she never came back home with me as that was missy’s last trip I really miss her so much I’d had her for fourteen years she was loved
Negative experience: I have tried 7 different ways to just try and get through to someone to ask a simple question if the surgery has a specific life saving medication in stock so my vets can give me a prescription to obtain it - as my vets and every other vets in this area are out of stock. I have spent at least 25 minutes and still haven't been able to get through to ANYONE. It's an absolute joke, why have a phoneline - that even when you press for an EMERGENCY - that they tell you to send an email, go online, send a fax, carrier pigeon instead of just answering the phone. Waste of time trying to get in touch through a phone call.
Positive experience: Went today with our dog Maddie,,who had eaten a plum along with the stone,,which can be toxic,, the staff from reception,,to triage, and vet were all fabulous,,, we didn't wait to long to be seen, 2 hours all in,,and Maddie is home,,feeling sorry for herself,, very expensive plum,,,excellent service,,,
Negative experience: Absolutely disgusted with the service I received when taking my dog ravi. I had a discussion with vet before appointment made due to dog being a very nervous rescue. Then when I took him I had to the work as examining his mouth as the vet wouldn't do it. I was told if I can't see I will have to send you away. The phonecall to the vet before hand knew of the dogs nervousness and I had been told previously they would sedate him to examine him and treat if necessary but this was not done and when I asked just told no. I emailed complaint and after not getting a call back within the 5 days it said on response email, I had to esculate the complaint. after around another week of waiting the manager telephoned and assured me she would investigate and call me around 2 weeks later. It's now been around 8-10 weeks and still no response even after sending emails to chase it up. I was charged a consultation fee for nothing as the vet didnt do the examination or treat my dog. I was even a paying customer not just a donation, due to not being on certain benefits but still qualified for lower costs. Im still waiting a response which i think is disgusting.
Fantastic experience: Staff really helpful. Waiting time not too long considering it was so busy. Would like to see a separate waiting area for cats if possible.
Fantastic experience: Took our cat Felix here as he was transferred from Kirkdale. He was on a drip,he had a overnight stay at Huyton PDSA, the staff are very polite & friendly. Felix was well looked after & he's feeling much better. Thank you to all the staff who took good care of our Felix
Fantastic experience: Always give the best care for my Ruby.
Fantastic experience: We had to go here a few times in the last three weeks for overnight care while my dogs condition was being diagnosed. Thanks for looking after her so well.
Fantastic experience: Saved my cats life today she needed an emergency c section my other vet kept sending her home saying she is okay got on the phone to pdsa gave me a quick appointment got her there they scanned her and took her straight to the back for a c section unfortunately her kittens didn’t make it because she started to abort them as she had an infection in her uterus they also spayed her for me as she was under she wouldn’t still be alive right now if it wasn’t for them amazing vets will never trust anyone else with my fur babies ever again thank you x
Fantastic experience: Coukdnt fault the place. They were absolutely fantastic. Plus the wait wasnt that long. I can't thank them enough for how they treated my dog. Whod ate a fidget string toy about 8 inches long. Staff absolutely brilliant too from phone call to reception to vet.
Fantastic experience: Had to have my Zac to be put to sleep last week. Awful experience, but the staff and the vets were outstanding. Cared so much for me and my dog. These people are life savers in the sense of keeping you relaxed and calm, Zac passed peacefully, and the vet also cried, which shows how much they love animals, I'm starting to donate each month whatever I can, even the people with there own animals gave me hugs and apologising, didn't expect it. Made the whole experience a little bit calmer. Thank you PDSA for your good treatment with Zac x
Fantastic experience: Our dog Izzy was struggling with her breath and we registered and took her down there - the care these people provide is amazing, so kind and caring and reassuring. We were so worried. But they put our mind at rest and treated our fur baby. So relieved and feel so lucky to have this service. We made a donation but not a patch on what we would have paid a vet due to personal circumstances. However, if you can donate to them do so, the service they provide is second to none. #payiton
Fantastic experience: Had an issue with my dobermans paw and needed out of hours vet and the PDSA was the nearest. The staff where brilliant and the vet gave our dog a really good examination. She put our minds at rest and even phoned our vets the next day to make sure we got an appointment. All in all a brilliant job.
Fantastic experience: Still an excellent service run on limited resources. Had to have the cat put to sleep and was treated with sensitivity and kindness by Zoe (I think!), the veterinary surgeon. Was given time alone to say goodbye and she let me stay with him until the end. Thank you for the service you provide. ❤️
Negative experience: If you love your let dont take it here!!!!!Absolute scum in here took £450off my sister for medication for her animal. Failed to tell her there's only a 3% chance of survival. The animal was taken to a competent vet this morning and immediately put down. Absolutely disgusting. They don't care about the animals they just want your money. Scum
Fantastic experience: The vet I seen on the day of my visit was amazing, as where the 2 student vets, complete examination of my girls leg, explained everything she's going through, (she broke her elbow at 3 months old) managed to save the leg, but due to carelessness of another vet her leg never healed as it should of, so she now has a lot of arthritis and less flexation of the joint. But the pdsa I can not fault. Only criticism I have is I would rather pay funds all in one rather than make donation on arrival and then when medication is dispensed. I also think there should be a minimum donation. As I witnessed so many ppl getting care and medications fir their animals yet either just giving £5 or nothing at all. It costs a lot to keep this pet hospital going and annoying that ppl take advantage
Negative experience: Took two abandoned kittens I had found, one covered in ticks. Was clearly concerned and wanted to get the poor thing treated. Was told it wasn’t an emergency so if I gave 600 pounds they would see him. Was also told if I basically was giving them away then they would treat them. That to me is a vet that cares about money and not about the animals at all as most people know very young kittens can become sick very quickly with ticks. Hugely dissapointed
Fantastic experience: To the vet who saw my staffie today (22.05.2024) Kyla Evans, thank you so much. What a beautiful person you are. Kind, caring and so compassionate giving me the news I was dreading.
Fantastic experience: We took our GSD Saxon to the emergency vet here, bloat was predicted and confirmed on arrival, we got excellent information and the prognosis was explained, he was operated on straight away. The vet phoned us at 1.30am to say the operation went as well as could be, and again at 8am to let us know how he went on through the night. At 1.30pm on the Sunday they phoned to let us know we could pick him up! All the care, information and professionalism was first class, Saxon is making a good recovery, and if it wasnt for the rapid service we received it would be highly unlikely Saxon would still be with us
Fantastic experience: Had to bring my cat in with a leg injury recently and they were fantastic. Really clear about what they were doing and what it would cost. Very efficient and friendly, and my cat came back comfortable and happy to recuperate at home. They were so busy when i was there, dozens of random animals arriving and they dealt with them all so well. It wasnt cheap, because i stupidly hadnt insured my cat, which was my fault as its only a few pounds a month. Lesson learnt, but worth every penny. Just make sure you either have insurance for out of hours car/Vets Now, or that you have the relevant proofs for the pdsa.
Fantastic experience: Very sad occasion having to take my elderly cat who couldn't hang on anymore. The vetinarian and nurse were very compassionate and helped ease the pain of her end of life. Thank you
Negative experience: I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at Huyton PDSA was so distressing that I feel compelled to warn others. Last week, I entrusted them with my cat for a routine spay procedure, dropping her off at 8 AM. I received no updates throughout the day, and when I hadn't heard from them by 4 PM, I drove there to inquire. To my dismay, I discovered that they hadn't even started the procedure. At 5:45 PM, they called me to pick her up. But when I arrived, I was shocked at her condition. My kitten was groggy, unable to stand or even hold up her head, and it was clear she was not ready to be discharged. Seeking a second opinion, I consulted another vet who was appalled, stating that the anesthesia had probably not fully worn off and that she should have been monitored post-op for several more hours at least. Additionally, today I had a scheduled appointment at 4:10 PM for my kitten's worm and flea vaccination. Despite being quoted £40 over the phone, I was charged £48 on-site. The price discrepancy is frustrating, but more so is the fact that upon arrival, I was told to expect several hours of waiting due to other animals being seen first. What is the point of scheduling an appointment if it is not honored? Moreover, the lack of compassion and interest in the well-being of my frightened kitten, who was held in a room with loudly barking dogs, was disheartening. I paid the full cost equivalent to a regular vet's service, yet the care and attention given were nowhere near acceptable. In summary, the lack of timely communication, mismanagement of a surgical procedure, incorrect billing, and disregard for the emotional state of the pets are unacceptable. I am deeply disappointed with Huyton PDSA and strongly advise pet owners to consider alternative veterinary services for the care of their beloved animals.
Positive experience: For a busy practice, it's clean and bright with friendly staff. It's a shame that their website is unusable. You have to use it to book appointments but we always end up calling the helpline because the website takes you down rabbit holes, asking you for the same information time and time again but never resulting in an appointment being made. It also has a Vets Now practice on site.
Fantastic experience: Had to rush our Guinea pig there due to an eye problem, they were great with us. Have to give a special mention to the lovely lady who was on the reception, her name is Elaine. She showed so much compassion to us and to other families who some sadly had to say goodbye to their beloved pets, she was so kind and helpful, she clearly loves her job❤️
Fantastic experience: Amazing , we had to take our 18 year old special little dog to be put to sleep. We were heartbroken, and the staff were amazing, kind, caring, and sympathetic.
Fantastic experience: Had to have our lovely boy put to sleep last night. The staff here were amazing, kind and sympathetic. I couldn't thank them enough dor their kindness and support.
Fantastic experience: Took my dog here when had an allergic reaction, the treatment time and staff are absolutely spot on. Helpful on the phone and easy to access on arrival, couldn’t thank them enough !
Fantastic experience: Very helpful my little Roxy had a very upset tummy and now is fully on the mend. Great Service
Positive experience: Vets were absolutely incredible, but never have I dealt with such a rude obnoxious receptionist when my cat was taken as an emergency. I declared my mental health conditions and explained to her that I was experiencing a panic attack to be met with "it's not my fault your experiencing financial hardship. Whilst waiting to collect my cat today it appears the same woman has also told another patient that if she can't pay her put would be put to sleep with very little emotional support offered. Despite how brilliant the vets were with my cat and ultimately saved his life dealing with such a vile excuse of a human made a challenging experience even worse!
Negative experience: Took my cat in on 21/01/24 because she was bloated and was told treatment and consultation would be around £140 if she had to be kept in overnight. It would be another £112 if she was kept overnight so we paid it all thinking this was all the cost. she was kept in due to suspected heart issues phoned up at 6pm on the sunday night as i was told in the morning they would give me more info later in the day the receptionist was very rude and i was told very rudely " we don't give info out after 6pm phone tomorrow" so had no new information on a critical pet Phoned the monday and was told that they had spoken to the manager and they couldn't continue the treatments as it was going to be too expensive basically told me i could go private or they could try 1 other thing for additional cost or put her to sleep then told me i had another bill of £142 to pay being on a low income and already paying out all the money i have for 2 weeks they wanted another £142. Got to the vets to put my cat to sleep i couldn't afford to keep paying after telling the receptionist we needed to put her down she was like that'll be £142 outstanding on my account we then waited over a hour and a half in the waiting room while they give out puppy jabs and other non urgent stuff for us to then go to receptionist and ask why its taking so long was told we had to wait in the queue so they left a cat suffering another hour and a half SHOCKING level of service the vet who put my cat to sleep was amazing couldn't fault her in anyway but the reception staff have no respect or tact and clearly lied when they said id only have to pay the initial 140 for consultation and treatment
