Negative experience: ⸻ Losing my dog was devastating. What made it even more painful was the way communication was handled throughout my experience. When I first called because my dog had collapsed, I was told they were dealing with another emergency and to call back in ten minutes. At that moment, it was truly a life-or-death situation. Pet owners need immediate guidance, reassurance, or clear triage direction in emergencies. Being asked to simply call back left me feeling unsupported during the most critical moment. Tragically, my dog was put to sleep due to a splenic bleed — a situation the vets could not have changed. Afterwards, when I raised concerns, I was advised there was a 14-day timeframe in relation to my complaint. This was later described as a misunderstanding. I understand that miscommunications can happen; however, clarity and consistency are especially important when someone is grieving and seeking answers. The shifting explanation added confusion and unnecessary stress at an already traumatic time. Rather than clear accountability, responses often felt focused on process rather than acknowledging the emotional impact of the situation. Clients should not have to repeatedly push for clarity when raising legitimate concerns. While reports were eventually provided, the overall handling of communication added avoidable distress during an already heartbreaking experience. I hope Holly House reflects seriously on how communication, triage procedures, ownership, and empathy are delivered in situations where pets’ lives are at stake

Positive experience: This was my first visit to Holly House and I registered Rex. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience really comfortable. Even though Rex was quite noisy, everyone was very patient and understanding. Overall, a really positive experience.”

Fantastic experience: We the the unfortunate need for an emergency vets on Sunday- whilst a situation I would not wish on anyone if you ever do need one I could not speak more highly of Holly House. From the initial phone call to everyone we dealt with, Holly House were fantastic. I was a mess and despite what I imagine is probably a very high pressured environment for the staff everyone was so supportive and kind. Our dog had to be kept in for monitoring and we were kept updated and at every stage every option was communicated clearly.

Negative experience: Disappointing decline in service over the years, a real shame. Should have left the sooner. Poor communication, misdiagnosis and expensive. Always had a positive experience in terms of friendliness from staff, however too many issues to ignore. Poor communication between staff leading to unnecessary extra visits e.g. not advising sedation necessary to take blood from a cat, despite him needing restraint from three people to clip claws on the previous visit. This meant an entirely wasted visit, and about £80 for the hassle. They did offer for him to come back under sedation for blood tests, but as we since discovered they can't perform the surgery without us taking him to the Ilkley branch, we have declined. Being told three times a colleague would contact us to discuss the dental work for our cat and not following through, leaving us to chase them us. One person said it would be in Leeds, one saying it had to be Ilkley. Misdiagnosis of an infected toe - were told our dog had almost certainly torn his cruciate ligament before the vet even laid hands on him, judging by his limp. Advised to book for xray/surgery a week later if no improvement. I requested he was seen again in the meantime as he was in so much discomfort. A second vet immediately diagnosed the infected toe. Antibiotics sorted the problem; diagnosing correctly to start with would have saved my dog several days of pain. Told our cat probably had a broken tail after she presented with a limp tail. Advised to bring her back for xrays. On the next visit a different vet discovered it was an infected cat bite - again received antibiotics later than we should have. Left for another practice today to get our cat's teeth extracted locally. The price different we've been quoted is substantial, despite the new surgery having better, local facilities and offering a more comprehensive package. Holly House charging £250 more than the new practice, and not even including bloodwork in the price.

Fantastic experience: I found a badly injured pigeon which a cat had got to. As i didn't know how to help it, I googled and found a good review for them. When I called, they asked me to bring the pigeon to their hospital. When I got there, they took it in immediately and said they would treat it and look after it at their cost.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly, relaxed atmosphere - I felt my puppy was in good hands for her second lot of jabs & first trip to the vets. The vet we saw was brilliant, handled our puppy amazingly she didn’t even know she’d had an injection. Would recommend!

Fantastic experience: Brought my African Grey Mr B for his nails trimming and Harriet and Amy were amazing they were so good at handling him as he doesn't like being handled and he was very calm with them. Harriet explained everything she was doing and took the time to ask if there was anything else I needed to know. Wonderful service would certainly recommend them and only £30 for his appointment which i thought was so good as I expected so much more. Thank you Harriet and Amy for a perfect visit

Negative experience: After 2 occasions of poor service decided it was time to move. They are losing the personal touch. The final straw was my cat having to wait up to six weeks for an operation to remove a tooth when potentially she could be in pain. Not putting the animals first at all.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful vets with lots of knowledge of rats and exotics. I now have my dog go here and they have been amazing from her being a puppy very clear on everything. The vets and workers here really care about the animals they treat. Update Our dog had several baby teeth causing problems and the vets were absolutely amazing. Really professional and caring for our pup. I'd never use another vets.

Negative experience: This vet used to be good but over the years it has gone downhill while the prices have shot up. Communication has got worse, eg I was told I could book an animal health certificate appointment but when I came to book it they told me, rather late in the day, that they don't do them anymore. I was told the decision was made by head office not them. Other problems include an animal health certificate with the wrong vaccine dates which almost stopped us getting into France, it cost £250! Also when my dog had digestion problems they did several expensive tests and sold me expensive supplements but it turned out a change in diet was all that was needed. We did this through trial and error. So it's a shame but I think the corporate owners are maximising profit above pet welfare and customer satisfaction. Most of the staff are ok however.

Negative experience: Please read! Two vets in this practice assessed my dog twice and failed to recognise clear signs of infection in her nipple. The first vet gave metacam which did not help at all and the second one charged me £60 in order to give me a £1300 bill for lump removal and investigations.She did not attmept to treat my dog at all. Both vets firstly tried to sell me a £300 histology test which I denied due to the cost but would have been irrelevant anyway. I found a better price for the operation in Sheffield for £300 less! My dog developed complications after the operation because apparently all this time there was an infection that was missed. Had my dog been given a broad spectrum antibiotic she would have not needed surgery. The incompetence of their vets cost me almost £1000 for an unessecary surgery and extended my dog's illness by two months. I know you think it won't happen to you but please think twice before registering your pet here. They are profit oriented and show little to no interest for your pet's health.

Fantastic experience: I am a first time German Shepherd dog person and I am so impressed with the service and care we get from the veterinary team that I cannot thank them enough. My GSD, Oscar is now three years old and each time I have needed advice or I have had to SOS them they have always responded with prompt care and advice. I highly recommend Holly House to anyone who wants 5 star care for their pets. The Vet, Lucinda recently treated Oscar for an acute dermititis episode. Fantastic experience: I visit Holly house on a regular basis as my 6 year old Labrador Bosworth has constant issues with allergies. Abi has taken over his care and I cannot express my gratitude enough on how she has cared for him. Abi has been an absolute angel in the way she has helped to get Bosworth the correct medication for his problems. She has gone above and beyond in her role as Bosworth's vet. All aspects of care are discussed in length and explained precisely and never rushed. The reception staff also are very efficient, friendly and helpful- Bosworth is like a A List celebrity and he loves the attention which he is given.

Fantastic experience: I couldn't be more impressed by the staff at Holly House. Without the skill, knowledge and professionalism of the vets and nurses, I have no doubt that I would have lost my lovely cat before his time. Negative experience: My tiny dog had complications after second teeth extractions he got swelling under tounge and had further surgery they said in Ilkley it was his conditions that caused it. They also dragged out two old roots I feel it was all too heavy for him but what can I prove. Opinions about correct in-between healing times between surgeries not discussed until later which may of made a difference I asked her after problems why she first said waite 3 months in-between and she said for full healing and drugs to drain out I felt so cross she didn't say this at the time. at the time I said does it have to be 3months and she just said no but I won't be here so I went with other vet which was 6wks 4days just hope this didn't cause issue? Not sure if pain killers were strong enough to start with because they didn't work on painful paw later he had issues with original one metacam to start with so given some others.i didn't feel they were confident and found vet nurse scary and cold at times very short with me. Surgeon who did my dogs 2nd extraction who he got complication with never showed her face not even for check up until I complained. this was meant to be sent to Ilkley.

Negative experience: Could not get an appointment for our precious dog, he ended up having to have emergency treatment at the pet hospital, tried to negotiate on price, no resolution with the staff and ended up with them increasing bill. Now moved all pets to an independent vetinary centre that cares about pets not money

Fantastic experience: I have used many different vets over the previous 40 years,some good,some very poor, Unfortunately our 14 yr old GSD Roxy passed away at home last sunday night,At 8 am next day we took her to Holly house vets, Moorallerton centre. Myself and my daughter were obviously upset but the staff there were tremendous,patient and very understanding especially Kieran and Abi (Vet nurses i believe),they lifted Roxy out of our car with the utmost care and consideration,they are a credit to Holly house and the veterinary business. Every care was taken to help us through the process even said no payment until the surgery contacts us after the greiving process. best vets i have used in 40 years .

Fantastic experience: I’ve got two African Pygmy Hedgehogs, one of which has been quite sick. Honestly I’m so happy I found them because they’ve listened to my concerns and helped me and at no point did they make me feel like what I thought was not valid. They continually give me options and different routes to go down which is brilliant for me financially. Even if you don’t have an exotic pet I’d massively recommend taking your fur baby to Holly House

Fantastic experience: It's always a worrying time when your pet gets taken ill but as soon as we spoke to the vet on duty that day (Harriet) our minds were put at ease. She spoke slowly & clear & explained the procedure. Samuel our springer spaniel had collapsed the nite before & had to be brought in as an emergency. Within a couple of hours we knew his diagnosis, not what we wanted to hear but emergency operation was needed. Harriet was very helpful & very hopeful. The aftercare was absolutely amazing & the wasap messaging service is a fantastic idea for us very worrying mums& dads, I was never off it!!!! Very patient & very professional well done guys highly recommend xxx

Fantastic experience: Martine, one of the dentists that performed surgery on my cat was brilliant. Explained fully what the options were and there were no unpleasant surprises. So encouraging to have someone whose professionalism you can respect. Hope we don't need surgery again , but if we did, without a doubt, we'd want her to do the work. Very happy with the work the whole team are doing for our pets

Negative experience: my cat has been in white cross all week suffering with kidney disease and a uti. the care there has been exceptional. i called holly house out of hours on friday at 6am. as i was worried about her. the useless inexperienced person who answered the phone told me she wasnt qualified to help. there was no one there who could.if i wanted to booka consult shud ring back at 7 when a vet arrives. it wud be ,£55!! she was totally disinterested in why i had called. i thoughta vet would be available out of hours. it was very upsetting and distressing. white cross had forwarded my cats notes over so i wudnt have to worry and this was how i was treated.its a disgrace i have always found them only interested in money!

Fantastic experience: I required an emergency appointment for my gorgeous but very poorly cat. They were the only emergency vets around when we needed one. My boy had to be put down but I was so impressed by the staff's kindness, efficiency, communication and knowledge and understanding that I have now registered my two new furbabies with them and taken the pet care plan. Thank you so much to vets Jenny and Emma for giving my boy such good quality care. You were there when he needed you and all your staff were there for me too. Excellent, bright clean, well equipped facility. I definitely recomend.

Fantastic experience: Went in today to get my 2 year old hamster's nails trimmed. Staff dealt with my wriggly hamster very professionally, and were very understanding about him getting a bit nippy. Very grateful for their help.

Negative experience: Awful service!! Brought a stray cat to the clinic that needed to be treated for some kinda of infection. Apparently he stayed there for few nights so he can get better in order to be passed over to the West Yorkshire Cat Rescue. However, after visiting the clinic today to get more information if he was given to the rescue I was told that I’m not allow to know due to Data Protection Act as he could have microchip. (He was not as the vet has already confirmed that to me therefore he did not had any owner). I said that I just want to know if he was given to the rescue center so I can donate some money or potentially adopt him but still was not given this information. I offered them help with transferring him to the center as I got attached to the cat but still was refused any information just so I can see him later on today walking freely around my house… After all my effort to catch him, giving him to the vet, visiting the clinic at least twice to get more information and lastly offering my help with transportation and financial support I just find out they let him go without any word. I thought people who work with animals have more empathy.

Negative experience: The vets are nice and caring but the lady at the reception called Charlotte I believe was extremely rude. Extremely inconsiderate specially knowing that the owner is under huge amount of stress. Didn’t know what she was talking about when it comes to insurance I definitely think she needs to look for something else as this job is not suitable for her. Most definitely never walk into this place ever again and I suggest you stay away. Again, let me stress that vets and the rest of the staff were amazing and so caring. Such a shame that one individual can ruin an experience for you
