Fantastic experience: I’m not sure who I spoke to on the phone on Tuesday night but she was absolutely wonderful, calming me when I was upset my cat had her tail stuck in the door and speaking with kind words. Once I arrived at the vets, I was seen by a lovely lady (who I did not get the name of) but she was absolutely amazing also, treating both me and my cat with care even though she is an absolute terror when she is at the vets and refuses to let them near her. She walked me through the steps she was taking to try and examine her and what she advised after, both her and the lady I spoke with via the phone are absolutely fabulous and deserve nothing but positive feedback from me !

Fantastic experience: Amazing caring staff after I lost our cat, so friendly and caring I couldn’t have had a better experience whilst my heart was distraught. I would recommend this vets over and over again. It feels like they shared your emotions and was so empathetic. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart you made the experience so smooth and handled the rest whilst we were heartbroken.

Negative experience: I am extremely disappointed with the service we received from this veterinary practice. We were told that our cat needed his tail amputated, which caused us a great deal of distress. However, this turned out to be completely unnecessary — his tail healed fully within just two weeks without amputation. Being told such a drastic procedure was required when it clearly was not is deeply concerning. On top of this, we were charged over £700 initially, plus another £100, and then an additional £100 was added when we collected him, with no clear explanation other than “medication.” This extra charge was not discussed or agreed beforehand, leaving us feeling misled and taken advantage of at an already stressful time. There was a lack of transparency around both the diagnosis and the costs, and we have lost trust in the advice given by this practice. I would urge other pet owners to ask detailed questions and seek a second opinion before agreeing to major procedures here.

Negative experience: If I could give less than one star I would. I took my baby (6 year old frenchie) to this vets over 2 days. I was getting mixed answers all of the time even though they could see how quickly my baby girl was deteriorating. At the beginning of the last appointment I was told “I’m happy for you to take her home” I told them that couldn’t happen as my baby could barely breathe after hours of being there my baby crashed and had to go on a ventilator but before my baby crashed they told me that if she happens to crash that they would call me to make full payment before intervening! I had to say to get me a form to fill out to interview so that if needs be they can intervene immediately and they still kept making the payment the forefront of conversation. I have money for my babies no matter what they need but the fact they were happy to let my baby crash and not do anything about it until I lined their pockets is absolutely disgusting!! Putting pets first is a complete and utter LIE. I have used vets4pets for over 7 years now but birstall is appalling and I will NEVER use this vets ever again. The main vet who saw my baby even laughed about my baby needing a tube in her throat when she then told me she could choke if it got blocked which she followed with a giggle. Then told me with boas surgery she would only have 30% chance of making it the when I questioned more as I was desperate to give my baby the best chance she upped it to 70% at this point I knew they were trying to get as much money as they could out of me even when every option they gave me would lead to a life of suffering for my baby girl. Even when I’m sat there heartbroken could barely breath from crying every other word was about payment. I never leave reviews but my baby was treated as an object that they could get money from and my baby is way too special to EVER be disrespected in that way. I hope you’re able to sleep soundly at night knowing that you put money over morals and that pets to you are just a money making scheme no thought or care at all!

Fantastic experience: We have a dog, Freddie who is very nervous which on occasions can come across as aggression. Esther, for the last few visits has been extremely kind to Fred, sitting on the floor with him and allowing him to do things in his own time. It has made the world of difference to our visits and I can’t thank her enough. Outstanding care. Also a shout out to Laura on reception and Amy who have been equally as fantastic in their interactions with Fred.

Fantastic experience: I just used the out of hours service as I was concerned that my dog needed an x-ray. He was seen by Esther who examined him thoroughly & pinpointed the location of his pain. She really put my mind at rest answering all of my questions about how to manage administering his pain meds. If it was nearer I'd register with this practice. The waiting room is very spacious which is great for reactive dogs.

Negative experience: Elva died under the care of @leedsbirstallvets4pets. What followed was silence, contradiction, and contempt. She was in systemic collapse. Surgery was delayed for nine hours. I was asked to sign loan forms before any treatment plan was discussed. No urgency. No consent. Just paperwork. After her death, I reviewed her records. What I found was devastating: Sedation undocumented Deterioration minimised Timelines retro-edited A tampon inserted rectally — undocumented, undisclosed, and later referred to in a handwritten note as “tampon up bum” I was present. I was reachable. I would never have agreed to this. This isn’t just clinical failure. It’s a collapse of governance, dignity, and truth. I’ve submitted formal complaints to the RCVS and VCMS. I’m asking for this to be investigated as a standalone safeguarding breach. #JusticeForElva #VeterinaryAccountability #SafeguardingMatters #RCVS #VCMS #AnimalWelfare #ConsentMatters #DignityInCare #TruthInRecords #EndOfLifeCare #FinancialCoercion #vets4petsbirstallleeds

Fantastic experience: On the night of 23rd-24th September, my cat suffered a medical emergency. Unfortunately I had to make the tough decision to put her to sleep. However, despite the trauma and sadness of that night, I do need to acknowledge how helpful and supportive the vet, Sofia, was. She was very nice and understanding, answered all my questions, explained a few things more than once given that my head was in a strange place. She knew exactly when to let me be alone and when to be there for me. I am very grateful that she helped me navigate that night, and was so respectful and calm. Thank you for all the support, during and after, to everyone at Birstall, especially Sofia.

Negative experience: We’ve been taking our dog to Vets for Pets Birstall for years and sadly can no longer recommend them. Around a year ago, a vet briefly mentioned that our dog might have a heart murmur. When we asked if it was a concern, we were told it was likely just due to age and we should “monitor it and see how she gets on.” Nothing more was explained, and it wasn’t raised again in any meaningful way. A year later, our dog’s health deteriorated, and after an ultrasound she was diagnosed with heart failure. Just a few days later, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to put her to sleep. None of this, in itself, was their fault – but what happened afterwards was deeply upsetting. When we went to claim through our pet insurance, the claim was rejected. The insurance company said it was a pre-existing condition, based on medical notes passed over by Vets for Pets. Those notes stated multiple mentions of a heart murmur spanning years – something we were never told about or had explained to us, other than the one brief conversation last year which downplayed it. Because of this poor communication and lack of transparency, we were left with nearly £900 in vet bills for the scan, believing in good faith that our insurance would cover it. Instead, we were blindsided by details that had never been discussed with us but were recorded on our dog’s file. This experience has been devastating and has left us feeling completely let down. For that reason, we would strongly advise others to avoid Vets for Pets.

Fantastic experience: The whole team were wonderful with our poorly beagle Whiskey. We were seen promptly and with great care, even remembered by name which was lovely. Emily the vet was an absolute star with Whiskey and we are so thankful for her and the whole team. He's slowly making a recovery and we will be returning here in future. Easily the most caring vet we have ever been to.

Fantastic experience: So we bought a dwarf Russian hamster. Got everything there, cage, wood shavings, food, toys, the cage is big and was only £40, way cheaper than the big online stores. Updated 2.9.25, BTW these cages are unethical, I've since found out the minimum ethical requirement is 100x50x50cm!! Filled with 8inch deep of bedding and shavings, lots of sprays, sandpits, chewy toys etc etc. By ant times changed since the 80s! Be prepared to spend lots of money for their needs, as tiny as they are it's an expensive pet x

Fantastic experience: The vets here are actually amazing! They all know our little boy by name and genuinely show that they care for each and every animal. After a real scare with his health when he was a puppy, they nurtured him back to health after a 2 week stay in the hospital. Our Chester now adores coming to Birstall to see all the vets and nurses as they always make him feel so welcome and at ease to ensure that he doesn't suffer anxiety for his follow up visits. I cannot recommend them enough here, we wouldn't take Chester anywhere else!

Positive experience: * Update* - The practice manager has since called and rectified this issue and investigated this further so due to this, I'm happy to now leave 3 stars instead of 1 given our complaint was rectified accordingly. Thank you* We have been a monthly customer of yours for our elderly dog and 5 other pets we own for the past few years now, and we have spent thousands of pounds at your practice...but after the way we were treated today, we will never step foot on your premises ever again!! The receptionist who works on your evening/night shift is a disgrace to your company. She refused our dogs treatment who was booked in for an appointment at 8pm, (which we have evidence of) in which we arrived at 7.55pm, and she sent us on our way, stating we shouldn't of never have been booked in for 8pm and that we will have to rearrange the appointment for another time, making me leave with my dog who was in agony with her arthritis with no treatment!! She tried to belittle us in the middle of your practice, making rude, bold and snarky statements, when she in fact was incorrect and we evidenced this to her, but she still continued to be rude and unhelpful. Due to her behaviour, we are going through an official complaint at the moment to report this further but you have now lost a very loyal customer with 6 pets who all used your services, we will now be going to Abbey House Vets in future!

Fantastic experience: Can’t Recommend Enough! I recently took my dog Max to as he was shaking in pain and drooling. From the very first phone call to booking my appointment, the care and concern were clear. The lovely lady on reception was so kind, and vet Anna was amazing. They listened, explained everything, and gave me three options, clearly recommending the one they felt was best for Max. It was heartbreaking to leave him, but the receptionist reassured me she would pop in to say hello to him throughout the day, which meant so much. I dropped him off at 1pm and, after surgery, he was home safe and sound by 9:30pm. They kept me fully updated on the findings and progress, and even did two follow-up calls afterwards to make sure he was recovering well. The compassion, professionalism, and genuine love for animals shown by the whole team was outstanding. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of Max, we are so grateful!

Negative experience: Just want to share a honest review of our experience with vets 4 pets birstall. We’ve had 2 cats signed up to their pet plans for 5+ years & have had minor visits & checkups over the years. Within the last 18 months we feel things have gone downhill & £££ is prioritised. Firstly around 18 months ago we had been called to book a £1000 for dental cleaning by a different department when the vet confirmed it wouldn’t have any impact on a tooth loss that had already occurred and was common. Following on from this when we found a stray cat in need of medical attention unable to eat around 6 weeks ago, we phoned them as our vet to be told “take them on as your own to pay for treatment or call a cat charity”. Another local well known 24hr vet in Morley took the cat in without hesitation, treated and supported a local rehoming charity in looking for a home. Our experience gets more personal from this point. Our cat of 11 years unexpectedly became poorly this past week and started losing weight rapidly. Her treatment was delayed for 2 days due to vet sickness and she was seen on Friday at 7PM. We were told she was chronically poorly but would need diagnosis & treatment if possible or to essentially put her to sleep on the spot, which we felt completely uniformed for to make that decision. I explained we didn’t have insurance & would be willing to fund but that it couldn’t be a blank cheque approach. One quote I remember well asking for blood tests but not being able to upfront agree to all the diagnosis treatment was “are you just looking for a reason to put her to sleep”. We were torn & confused. We were quoted the use of Klarna to pay, a £1500 over night stay, a £500 CT scan. We payed on the spot £330 for an in house blood test and medication to stimulate appetite and took her home with us. Unfortunately overnight and the next day she deteriorated and by 3PM we were back and had decided to put her to sleep. The vet on Saturday night was fantastic and made the situation and her condition clear to us. We opted for communal cremation as opposed to their quoted personal option (another £500) as we weren’t sure what to do with her ashes. We agreed with the vet that her paw prints, nose prints and fur clipping would be returned to us that was written on the form and signed. We were moved to another room and stayed throughout the procedure. What wasn’t fantastic was someone coming in whilst we were still having a moment with our pet, with the card machine to collect the payment for the euthanasia and cremation. We weren’t escaping anywhere and in the past they’ve also sent a payment link. Fast forward to today we called in advance to collect the prints and fur and told they were ready. I’m pleased vets4pets birstall were able to remember to collect payment, as they weren’t able to do the same with our request nor read the form that we signed and were handed a small white envelope with 3 lots of paw prints on plain paper. When I went back in & queried the clippings, I was apologised to and told the instructions hadn’t been fully read, already upset having to collect them, I turned & walked out. I’m really pleased they’ve got their just shy of £500 for blood tests & euthanasia (this didn’t include the appointment cost covered by the pet plan) and want to thank them for making a terrible experience much sadder. A mistake they can’t take back, and we feel it wasn’t a difficult request. We will be cancelling our other cats policy and moving to another vet. The 2 stars is for the vet that dealt with us on the second night, otherwise wouldn’t be recommending them at all.

Negative experience: I’m not sure who thought it’s a good idea to have an emergency veterinary care facility located on the first floor of a pet store, on a gallery. Our dog developed a life-threatening condition on a bank holiday and we had to take him there as our usual vet was closed and this is their emergency facility. It was a very unpleasant experience having to walk our poorly boy among the customers. The noise and commotion stressed him out even more. Our boy was admitted to hospital. Despite assuring us someone would call with an update, nobody did! He was admitted around 4:30pm on Monday and we heard nothing until Tuesday late morning when someone called to say he was doing better and we could take him home. We stayed up until after midnight on Monday and called multiple times only to be told each time someone would call us back. When the vet finally called on Tuesday they advised they had given him chicken despite us making it very clear during the admission he was allergic to it and putting it on a form… When I questioned it I was told there was a mix up with the notes… When I picked him up, they had misplaced his leash (it was found as I requested they looked for it). To be fair they did sort the insurance claim out quickly but forgot to issue us a refund (by own admission, when I called to clarify). We only found out we were due a refund when I called to clarify why the invoice submitted to the insurance company was for a lower amount than what we had paid… As a result we’ll be changing vets because there’s no way I want our boy to have to go there again if he ever needs emergency care.

Fantastic experience: Last night we took our elderley cat who was struggling to breathe . Upon arrival late at night we were greeted by a young lady who asked our name and the collected the cat and sprinted with her upstairs . . After a short time we were spoken to by a vet called Sonia who was very sympathetic . She discussed the various problems and advised it was life threatening. But she wanted to give her a chance . So we agreed a plan and also not to resuscitate and she was admitted . At 1.00am we were called and advised she was getting worse. And was given a sedative and shortly afterwards passed away. At 430 am called Sonia who explained hin detail what had caused her passing . She then advised me re cremation etc and left it is to decide. We decided to pick the cat up to bury at home upon arrival all the staff we re very sympathetic and out is at ease . They took paw Prints and fur cuts . Without any prompting a refund was offered . Thank you everyone for making a difficult one more acceptable . Nigel and Diane

Negative experience: Very poor customer service. Multiple vets seemed unqualified and lacking in experience. We was promised a fixed price which will cover what we needed and more but they now want to add extra costs on for more tests and charge us to even bring our dog home with no explanation why. One minute our dog is okay the next she's going to be put to sleep and then again change thier mind and say she isn't going to die yet.

Fantastic experience: Cannot comend the staff at vets4pets enough! They were so kind and caring as if Ripple was their own baby and the care she recieved was second to none, sending us regular updates the whole time she was in hospital. Without their care she would not be at home with us today ❤️

Fantastic experience: Having got home after my own practice had closed for the day recently, I found my dwarf hamster clearly very unwell. Vets4Pets Birstall were compassionate to the situation and arranged for me to bring her in right away. The vet who saw us was so lovely, very understanding that she was a beloved pet but also very honest about her prognosis and we agreed it was kindest to let her go, I felt 100% comfortable that my girl would be cared for with the respect and dignity she deserved. They also thoughtfully sent me a condolence card which arrived in the post today.

Fantastic experience: Visited the vets for pets. Top service as always. It is expensive without insurance, but I definitely respect the time it takes to learn all of it. There are no hidden costs and are very upfront about all of the treatment options, even the worst case. Very knowledgeable and experienced staff.

Fantastic experience: Rushed my cat for emergency and have been seen as soon as we arrived. I was welcomed by friendly staff and vet was taking seriously her condition. They have good equipment in place for closer check up and could target on time abdominal leak which was deadly to my cat and emergency surgery was successfully performed. After 3 weeks she is recovered well and scar is healing well. I will be forever grateful to surgeon and team taking good care of my cat and for keeping me informed. People here truly care about pets and my cat’s behaviour shows she was comfortable being there when before she had big stress going to vets. She has been diagnosed with lymphoma and unfortunately our journey will continue with Cancer Care for pets in Huddersfield. I was offered the treatment here, but must to admit price was rock high, however, referral was made same day when requested. I trust this place and would recommend to others.

Negative experience: Brought in three stray kittens, told them one had a broken leg and needed help. Finally got them to look at the kitten and they said it was all fine, nothing wrong, and even suggested we put the kittens back where we found them. Took them to another vet who instantly could tell something was wrong and ordered an X-ray to discover the poor kitten has a broken pelvis. Complete disregard for this kitten, no compassion or care whatsoever.

Negative experience: Vets4pets policy on emergency treatment is disgusting. £80 to be seen if it’s an emergency, even though it’s Monday at 10, not even emergency hours. Abbey house In Morley were amazing and not money driven. £51 to be seen OOH and focused on the need of my beloved dog. I’d give 1 star but it’s not the staffs fault. Disgusting policies with greedy people. No concern for the welfare!

Positive experience: Our beautiful greyhound girl lexi. was put to sleep 1st September. the vet.nurses.& staff were brilliant. Thank-you so much

Dino Gardner Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Thrown my Cats blanket after she was put to sleep!!! On the 6th of September I brought my Cat who was ill to be checked over but was sadly too far gone and had to be put to sleep. The vet then took her wrapped in her blanket, that belonged to my first Cat Manolo. I was offered at the time by the vet who put her to sleep, some of her fur, individual cremation and her paw prints in plaster. After it took place and I went to reception the receptionist apologised and said someone should have come in to the room but because the vet was filling in he probably wasn’t aware of your procedures when a pet is put to sleep at Birstall. I went on the 17th September (certificate of cremation states the 9th) to collect her ashes but there was no sign of her blanket, so I asked where it was and the young girl went off to get it. She came back after nearly 10 minutes and said it might be in the wash and went off once more never to be seen again. After another 10 minutes of waiting I asked the girl on reception if she could find out what’s happening and off she went, a few minutes later she came back with another lady who repeated “it might be in the wash” and began to tell me about what happens when animals are put to sleep like I’ve never had to go through that process before. 11 days later and the blanket is still the wash, doesn't add up to me! This is now around 30 minutes after I’ve first arrived and had to leave because I was finding it hard to contain my anger. All I wanted to do today was to pick Bellma up and get home and cry. When I finally get home and open the box I was given I discover that there is no plaster/clay prints in the box and when my girlfriend phoned up she was told you’ve never offered that service, but not only was I offered it by the vet it clearly states you do on your website which is probably why the vet filling in offered it to me and the cost I paid should have covered it. Twice I’ve been through this process in the last two years and never had to wait as long to collect their ashes or had blankets with sentimental value lost, or binned which is what I suspect is what’s happened and find it truly disgusting how I’ve been treated on this occasion. Two Cats that blanket has belonged to so it's of sentimental value and your staff have clearly had no regard for it which I find to be absolutely disgusting, as was my treatment today by having me waiting around so long on top of the 10-11 days I've already had to wait.

Fantastic experience: Popped in a spoke to them about our Nervous and Reactive Mali. He'd had a very bad experience at another vets while quite young which makes regular boosters etc difficult. Got to say that the vet and vet nursing staff were fantastic with him. Spending time to put him at ease. Even treating him in an open area rather than the confines of a consultation room. Very positive experience for both him and us.

Molly Wale Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Can’t recommend enough, the vets/nurses and reception staff genuinely care about your pet and you. My pup needed emergency wound care and she was loved like she was their own. It made the whole experience so much less stressful and we could leave her in very safe hands. You are all amazing, thank you x

Fantastic experience: Really lovely staff...vet was great and really freindly...took time with my kitten....was impressed with my first visit

Emma Andrews Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: A lot of the negative reviews seem to just reflect the fact that people don't seem to understand that emergency veterinary care is often expensive and frequently decisions have to be made on the fly (by both owners and staff) under high-pressure, constantly changing conditions; V4P Birstall have always been incredibly professional and empathetic through all of our emergency out-of-hours appointments for both our cats and our dog. Staff were all incredibly kind, particularly when we had to put our dog to sleep, we couldn't have asked for a more empathetic team (including vets, nurses, assistants and reception staff).

Negative experience: Can't be anymore disgusted then I am right now!! My 8 month old dog suddenly got really poorly and still is now , I rushed him in 4 times in the space of under 24 hours!!!! For what to get nothing because they cant be bothered to even look after my dog or check him over £700 out of pocket just to get some pain relief!! I feel absolutely sickening to my stomach!!! The vet what seen my dog was Jason Barker-Robinson I cant even begin to tell you how rude he is!! Not a care in the world for me or my dog when knowing I was so worried about him I've never known anything like him!!looking down his nose at me speaking over the top of me making me feel stupid by asking questions and genuinely being ignorant towards me. How he made me feel was just pure utterly disgusting and genuinely stuck up his own arse the least to say!! Not to forget my dog was so scared of him.. my dog as not been right since coming home he looks so traumatised and very jumpy his behaviour as changed completely since coming home so wouldn't like to imagine what's been happening to my dog behind closed doors!. Realistic of the story they dont care about are animals just all about the money!.

Fantastic experience: Caroline the Vet was brilliant. We've seen her a couple of times and she's outstanding and saved my pet's life. Thank you so much!

bex lee Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Won’t be using ever again! I had been with Birstall 4 years before being told by a vet my dog was “just being dramatic” thankfully I went to a different vet practice and was told what was actually wrong with her. How a vet can say a dog is just being dramatic and I am pandering to her! I know my dog EXTREMELY well I know when she’s in pain.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly and helpful staff, able to arrange an appointment at short notice at a time that suits. Always pleasant and knowledgeable staff when visiting.

James Pywell Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: We are having to visit regularly with our cat at the moment and each time so far has been a welcoming and patient environment. We've had no issues and are considering moving all of our pets here.

Matthew Harrison Posted on Google 2 years ago

Positive experience: Due to the snow the practice called me to confirm I was still coming for a 645pm appointment. I said I would but when I arrived I was waiting an hour beyond this as 'a vet had phoned in sick earlier and there's an emergency come in'. This could have been shafted with me on the phone earlier. This left my poor rabbits sat terrified for over an hour.

Luke Marshall Posted on Google 2 years ago

Positive experience: Amazing service but you may need to re-mortgage your house just to pay the bill. One thing I didn’t appreciate is being pressured to pay a £3k bill before they started treating your pet. Apart from that they worked through the night and kept me updated along the way.

GetMiked Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: When there's something seriously wrong with your pet - avoid Vets 4 Pets. I lost mine due to the absolute ineptitude of Pudsey. the slow action of Birstall, and faulty diagnosis by their so-called ultrasound expert. Not only that, but it's taken me months to deal with the neverending sequence of bills that come from their accounts department.

Aiden Stevens Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: We lost our little staffy 'Stella' in August. Even though it was busy, the reception staff were absolutely brilliant. I personally want to thank the vet who looked after Stella and the family that day. Truly passionate about her work, cared for us (the owners), and a true support through one of the worst days of my life. Thank you all. We will forever be greatfull

Matt Worsman Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: We had a truly stressful time when our cat went in to V4P following on from a possible bad dental elsewhere. It was initially unclear why she was so ill and all the efforts to help her get back to normal was taken, she is a very nervous cat so never likes been anywhere but home, so different approaches were taken to comfort her from home. She then had a E-tube fitted which ultimately has saved her life! Shes now made a full recovery thanks to everyone involved with her, we can't thank you efforts enough. One of the vet nurses took a lot of time with us and went to great length to help her on a number of occasions(Sorry but I can't recall her name)

Nathan Walker Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Been with these guys for years now, moved away to another practice and then still decided to come back. The staff are friendly, caring and knowledgeable. Recently had a fantastic makeover and I'm loving the new vibe there. Will always recommend.

Fantastic experience: The 24hr hospital was a great help when our Poppy fell ill suddenly. She seemed VERY popular with the staff who all wanted to cuddle her. Sadly, it didn't end happily, but she died with dignity. She'll be very greatly missed by all of us.

Fantastic experience: Went in out of hours because I was worried about my dog's sutures following an operation. Everybody was really lovely, kind and reassuring. A really positive experience on a night where I was quite worried. Thank you.

Pegasus Piercing Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic branch. After receiving life threatening treatment elsewhere my dog was rushed out of hours to here. They reassured me from start to finish took amazing care of her and although it's still early days I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or use them again. Credit to all the staff especially Anna the vet.

Jane Atha Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: I will never use Vets4Pets again to treat any animal. The treatment of my Yorkshire terrier was disgusting. I took him in with pain in his back end they pumped him full of various pain relief that nearly killed him, kept him overnight and did xrays and charged £2100. They gave him back in a terrible state to wait 10 days for results of xrays and unable to walk using front legs either saying maybe bleed on the brain and probably needs to be put to sleep.Staff never phone you back, very unprofessional and gave no advise and only interested in money, not the care of the animal. I have since took my dog off all pain relief and is recovering from his horrible treatment and registed with another vet. I have reported them and taking the shocking treatment of my dog to the highest level. AVOID

T Brown Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Used the vet service for the last 3 months. Great tea. They listen and understand any doggy related anxieties and questions. Always found them to be friendly , efficient and helpful

Lauren Ingham Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Unbelievably poor communication and service. They don't have enough staff on to deal with patients properly, so it takes more time to get round them all, but they charge the owners an outrageous amount for the lengthy hospitalisation because of this

Grace Mortin Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: The team at Birstall are absolutely wonderful and so, so knowledgeable. We've been here for emergency appointments a few times and it's comforting to know your pet is in the best place. They are upfront about treatment and costs and explore all options with you from the outset. On top of that, they really make your pet feel at ease and keep in touch regularly if your pet needs to stay in. Such a great team!

Fantastic experience: Ana and JD have just provided the most incredible service one could hope for in obviously stressful circumstances. Their kindness, compassion and professionalism was absolutely unparalleled and they made me and Cujo (pictured below when less grumpy - he apologises for growling I promise) right at home at 2am. Throughout the whole 3ish hours I was there I was kept well-informed and reassured. It just so happens that while being incredible vets, the staff here are incredible people. It’s not often you go to the emergency vets at 2 in the morning and leave feeling so positive. Absolute superstars and the way I was looked after and treated (I wasn’t even the patient!) has made my month. Can’t speak highly enough of the practice or the practitioners. Thank you so much for your kindness, ¡muchísimas gracias! - Jack and Cujo

Fantastic experience: Really nice vets, who did a great job finding out what was happening with our cat at short notice. 24 hours too, which is brilliant!

Mia Hodgkinson Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: Vets4pets birstall is really dirty and an unpleasant place to have to bring your pet. We sadly had our dog PTS there and we were forced to pick a cremation option off a sheet while our dog was gasping on the table ahead of euthanasia. It was really distressing. They then charged us an admin fee for our insurance due to it being a Sunday that they then didn't process until the Tuesday after. I had to chase them about it, they had lost my details and then asked if it was regarding my cat that had died 4 years previously. The whole thing was handed badly, with zero empathy and it's clear they're all about making money and not about the pets at all. Avoid at all costs.

Fantastic experience: Moose my 2 y/o Great Dane x Mastiff was being a big baby and a little challenging but the lovely ladies we met there, from reception staff to the vets and nurses (we only encountered female staff on our visit) they were so kind to me and Moose, looked after us and listened to his needs as well as my concerns as an owner. They were so lovely and helpful and took extra measures to make sure we had a happy and positive vet experience so we can work on Moose's confidence.

Negative experience: The staff at Vets for Pets Birstall are amazing and we're partially good when we lost one of our cats last year. That being said I have seen steady price increases over the last few years which have now become unmanageable. To give you and idea, I was quoted £900 for a dental for my cat. I have changed vets and have been quoted just over £300 for the exact same procedure. Vets for Pets need a reality check on their pricing, especially in a cost of living crisis.

Positive experience: The vets are amazing, very caring and have a great understanding of your pet and our relationship! The nurses let the place down they don’t take time out act like u are an inconvenience, or give you the correct information in fact don’t even act like they care, they could do with having a few lessons from the vets. We have seen 4 different vets now and all are amazing! Thank you pity the nurses let u down or it would have been 5 stars! !

Fantastic experience: Rushed my little dog in at midnight after having seizures . The ladies on duty were amazing.. Very attentive and understanding even though it was busy, Talked me through everything that was going on and were honest and open about all the procedures.. Rang next night to see how my dog was and the nurse was crying on the phone because they had just lost one of their patients.. Just goes to show they really care... Would definitely go here again, good customer service and understanding is priceless in these situations...

Fantastic experience: Jax our siberian husky was very ill, we can not thank the staff at Birstall enough, how they looked after him, everything was explained what they were doing, the night shift especially siobhan, Sam and Trish, which was on at the time, nothing was too much bother, I could ring and ask how he was anytime over the 8 days he was in, he touched alll you hearts, he nearly broke mine, with all your help he pulled through, A massive thank you Some pics when he was in hosptal to doggy day care with me (as I work there) and asleep after a hard day at play xx

Fantastic experience: My cat was involved in a RTA. Staff were amazing from start to finish. My cat was in for 3 nights and they kept me informed at all times of his condition. Nothing was too much trouble. First time I've used them but wouldn't hesitate to take any of my 5 there again. Thank you to Sam, Allun and Trisha and Carly and anyone else who cared for Maxie.

Fantastic experience: The vet was very comforting she made me feel at ease when I was explaining my dogs symptoms she knew straight away it was a dental problem Rosie was on her best behaviour and let the vet do everything that she needed to do. It was an emergency appointment we got a good time 10pm and were seen quick we were out of the practice by 10:20 overall very happy with the service

Gemima Byrne Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: On Sunday I noticed my cat Reggie coughing and breathing in a way that wasn’t normal to me, as soon as I phoned and explained I was told to come without a appointment and on arrival there was no waiting he was seen emergently by a vet though the practice was busy. The vet that saw him was lovely and so calming, he explained what was wrong and that there wasn’t a clear cause but without putting the absolute fear of the worst into you and he was also incredibly non judgemental but also validating and taught me a lot about Reggies health and how to spot things and such. I can’t remember his name but I’m honestly so thankful to this specific vet for how kind and understanding he was and how he treat my little man and myself. And so thankful to the entire team of the practice for all the help they gave. Only practise I would ever recommend to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Lovely team of receptionists and veterinary staff, always happy to help. Vets are gentle, friendly and considerate to your pets feelings. Good opening hours

P W Posted on Google 3 years ago

Positive experience: I was very happy with my last appointment, my dog was referred to a specialist without any messing about. However it is a very busy practice and you can't always get through on the phone, let alone a same day appointment. This is quite an expensive chain.

Fantastic experience: Our Rabbit George required over night medical care, after a week of various visits due to being very unwell. Unfortunately George lost her battle, but the staff at V4P Birstall could not have been more helpful or dedicated. Angela on reception was amazing, she put us at ease on arrival and even got a smile and laugh or two out of us, even when things were looking bleak for George. To our surprise, we had an update from the vet at 2am to tell us how George was and again at 3am where we were told the bad news that George had unfortunately passed away. This action was above and beyond our expectations and really made us take comfort that George clearly had love and support right until the end and that the vets had worked hard doing what ever they could through the night in her final hours. Angela was a God send from start to finish, just an amazing woman who has so much warmth, compassion and ability to beam positivity even in the darkest of times. The fact she shed a tear when we collected George just shows her devotion to her job and her love for animals, it genuinely touched me in such an unexpected way. Keep doing what you are doing Angela, you made this experience so much more bearable and as comforting as could be. You quite literally are a legend...5* for V4P and a million * for you!
