Abbey House Vets in Morley: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and very clean spacious waiting area
Fantastic experience: Hello, Came in yesterday with Teddy the hamster about his teeth. All staff are lovely and friendly. Didn't have to wait long to see the vet. She was lovely. Teddy wasn't in too long and received medication and appointment for Monday. Lovely place. Teddy seems fine this morning, was sat waiting for me, was starving . Thankyou xx
Fantastic experience: Amazing Vet who kept my nervous dog calm so a full check over could be carried out. Listened to all my concerns. Only waited two minutes and the receptionists were efficient and friendly
Fantastic experience: The nurses and vet were excellent when we were having an incident with one of our kittens, we were seen the kitten was examined and we were listened to, our fears were aliviated. Thank you very much
Negative experience: I'm really not happy with the recent service provided by you. We rang with our dog struggling to pee and being sick, and were told to bring him straight in which seems very standard practise for any of your transactions when its out of hours. The vet saw him and decided he had a blocked intestine and "could feel something" You then provided three options: A sickness tablet A sickness tablet and x-ray Operate Crazy how you can just come to the conclusion of operating - it is that simply to get more money off people? Looking by your Trustpilot reviews its exactly that. We chose to go for option 2 which still ended up costing us over a £1000, the x-ray magically come back with nothing on, we then brought him back in again and cost us more money for a "separate" issue according to you, even though he had the exact same symptoms as before - so we were asked to take a pee sample which we did Saturday and brough straight in - told it would take 2 hours to get results but you still haven't even bothered to call to tell us the results. It's pathetic, magic how you can find time to see people when they're paying out of hours and over a £1000 for nothing but when its a result you can't be arsed, the poor dog has suffered over the weekend because you can't be bothered to tell us whether he needs antibiotics or not. Luckily the dog seems to be on the mend no thanks to you. This isn't the first time you have robbed us - charging us over £5000 of which the insurance paid out £1300 because you'd overcharged on everything by like 300% and you had the cheek to blame the insurance company. I want a refund on the clear misdiagnosis because he clearly didn't have a blocked intestine and the vet miraculously felt something. Crazy to think you've also decided to say he has a heart murmur but your other vet that clearly didn't read the notes said he didn't. Was that just another push for even more money? When I rang for the test result on Saturday the office staff are obviously well trained in trying to get you to bring your dog in to the emergency - are they on commission? Why would I bring my dog into out of hours when I'm just trying to find out the test results. Quite obvious you have played this trick on a lot of people the reviews online are vile.
Negative experience: Took my dog witch had pyometra said hornmotreatmeant witch has a high failure rate 1800 pounds or 3500 pounds for surgery people were not right good to be fair took my dog to another vets had surgery day after for 800 pounds far better service and they actually cared for my dog and not played heart strings will never be back to abby house again calder vets recommended abby house will never go back
Fantastic experience: Helpfull friendly staff. Excellent care for my dogs. Wonderful veterinary centre. Couldn't get better in my opinion.
Fantastic experience: Seen promptly. Good explanation of problem Felt listened to and understood
Negative experience: Used the vets after our dog went off her food, lost weight and was very weak. I was upsold loads of tests etc. after 2 nights in they couldn’t find what was wrong with our dog. Was asked by several members of staff how much our insurance would cover and they made sure they squeezed every penny up to the limit. After £6000 I was no wiser and was told she needed a further investigative MRI at a cost of £1500 (coincidentally up to my insurance limit) so took my dog home. She was fine within 48 hours. I suspect most vet’s are like this sadly. A legal way of extorting money from unsuspecting people. Shocking.
Fantastic experience: Very polite and friendly service keep you updated and keep your pet safe and well looked after
Fantastic experience: We were impressed with the effective service when we had to take our older greyhound in as an emergency on a Sunday. Ammar, the vet, was kind and thorough in his examination of our dog. He identified the problems she was having, relieved her distress and had a good treatment plan. We are grateful for his expertise and reassurance. Reception staff also helpful and efficient. Thank you, Abbey House.
Fantastic experience: Always a great vets and always looked after really well looking after my poorly boy not quite out of the woods yet xx
Fantastic experience: Excellent from start to finish well done Abbey House
Fantastic experience: I cannot praise the team at Abbey House Vet Hospital in Morley enough for the exceptional care they provided to my dog Penny during a very stressful time. My brother-in-law brought her in when I was out of town. I called ahead to give my details and insurance information, and from that moment I was treated with the utmost professionalism and empathy. The Vets, Nurses and Staff kept me fully informed at every stage of Penny's assessment and treatment. I received calls explaining the need for X-rays and scans, and ultimately, the incredibly relieving good news that no blockage was present, so no need for surgery. Their outstanding communication and genuine empathy were especially crucial for me, as I was in another country dealing with a very difficult family matter. They overcame the distance to ensure I felt fully informed and supported, which was truly remarkable. They didn't just treat Penny, they also supported me, understanding the extra worry I was carrying. It was clear how well-loved and looked after Penny was during her overnight stay. I genuinely found nothing that could have been handled better; their service was outstanding from start to finish. I highly recommend them to any pet owner.
Fantastic experience: Abbey house vets always give a professional and compassionate service. We have used their out of hours service on a number of occasions, usually under stressful circumstances and they have always provided a top class service
Fantastic experience: Sadly had to have our beloved family dog put to sleep today. Abbey House vets were kind and empathetic. The process was explained clearly and we were given privacy and all the time we needed. Couldn’t have asked for more.
Negative experience: A bunch of unethical thieves. Makes money from pet owners misery. They don't care about the animals only the profits.
Negative experience: Out rages charged me £110 just to tell me the dog is ok, I went in there cause my dog had hurt his leg I just wanted it to get checked at and all she said was the dog is fine. He’s just pulled some tissue and then she said u should buy these tablets £25 she said and when I got to the till they said £110 and I was shocked bc I’ve only just turned 18 and I was like all she said was he’s ok and £25 for tablets and then she goes £55 to book an appointment and the tablets where £28 and an injection I haven’t even got yet wich was 32 disgusting don’t get me wrong it’s lovely in there really pretty but out rages and they didn’t even tell me I had to pay for an appointment
Fantastic experience: I took my tiny Maltese Gigi for her annual booster and kennel cough vaccines. She is very sensitive and isn’t happy being examined after a few dental extractions previously. The vet was very patient and considerate with her and helped to calm her down. I would definitely recommend this vet and the practice in general. The staff are always friendly and helpful whether on the phone or in person.
Negative experience: Nice staff, but unfortunately I called in when we suspected my dog had swallowed poison, I had to wait 30min upon arrival, and when I was seen by a vet I was told it would be £240 to make my dog sick and check for possible poison pouches, and come back in an hour. I was then told the pouches were whole and undamaged, and just keep an eye on the dog and pay at the till, that's when I was told it was actually £620 and given medication just in case. MEDICINE I LATER FOUND FROM VETS ONLINE FOR £60.... They were not clear as to full costs, and I feel situation was took advantage of.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic vet. Opened 24/7. Thanks to excellent care and prompt treatment my dog is still with us, happy and healthy. I can recommend Abbey House Vets without hesitation.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant and great vet who listens and doesn't rush you. He saved my cats life
Fantastic experience: Friendly and caring vets. Always taken good care of our pets when we have taken them there.
Fantastic experience: We want to thank all the veterinary staff from the bottom of our hearts for their professionalism, kindness and loving care for our Axel. The surgery went very well. Thank you for accompanying us on this journey with competence and availability. Our Axel, our four-legged love, is getting back in shape, and we couldn't be happier!"
Fantastic experience: Lovely vets. Caring & attentive. Reception staff polite, professional and welcoming.
Negative experience: I was out of my area and had to rush my dog to the nearest emergency vet after she had managed to impale herself on a stick. She was initially inspected by a male vet immediately to ensure she was not at immediate risk, which I greatly appreciated but we were then told we'd have to wait for the night vet to come on, as they were satisfied she was triaged and was fine to wait. The night vet saw my dog after we'd waited around an hour. During this time I spoke to the lady on reception about my insurance and she said they'd make the claim and all I had to pay was my £109.00 excess and a £25.00 admin fee, which I paid whilst I was waiting. She was clipped to facilitate cleaning and inspecting the wound and after half an hour, the Vet (Amanda) came to discuss what she'd found, which luckily was just soft tissue damage with the stick not penetrating the chest cavity. However, she could cut everything open even more and explore the damage in precise detail if I wanted... No, that seems excessive I said. Rhetorically, she asked, is that because she's alright? A weird and unnecessary conversation which gave me the impression that she was trying to rack up as much cost as possible; a thought further confirmed when the dog was brought out wearing a 'compression' jacket that was around 4 sizes too big and incapable of compressing anything. That was another thirty minutes wait to insert 2 staples. I was about to leave when I was presented with another bill for £457.22, which Amanda insisted I had to pay before I leave. Yes, but you've already taken £109.00 off me for the excess and this isn't reflected in the bill. Everyone has to pay the excess she said. Yes, but after paying this bill, I've now paid it twice. She insisted it was all correct and I ended up walking out having paid nearly £600 to clean and staple a superficial chest wound, including anti-biotics and anti-inflammatory. I did phone up to complain about the overcharge and they agreed that I had been overcharged and refunded my excess. All in all, I was left with a feeling that this is a practice who will happily profiteer on the back of any pet emergency you may encounter (£200 consultation fee, just because I wasn't registered there, why?). They couldn't explain why one long standing staff member understood their insurance claim procedure to be completely different to the night vets interpretation, but said they were trialling a different approach and would feed back my comments about my experience. What they don't seem to get is that many have pet insurance simply because they don't have the disposable income to shell out £600.00 over the counter for exorbitant vet fee's. They have it because they can only manage to pay their insurance excess.
Negative experience: I went today with my dog had me waiting outside for over a hour then when i eventually got him in to the vets they told me i had to pay 1600 to let my dog stay over night to do some checks on him cause he's got something stuck then when i said i don't have the money they told me i had to take him to a different vets because i didn't have the money they don't care about your dogs wellbeing at all very poor behaviour
Negative experience: We brought our dog in for swelling in his neck and were very disappointed with the care he received. Sedation was poorly handled, and a catheter and IV were only placed after I insisted. No proper examination was done, and they didn’t even check his mouth before pushing for an expensive CT scan and throat surgery. Their recommendation was based solely on a report from three months earlier, when our dog had a stick lodged in his throat. At that time, we were personally told by the vet who performed the CT that the wound had healed well and the scan was clear. Yet at this clinic, the staff ignored that confirmation, relied heavily on the old report, and insisted the swelling must be linked to leftover fragments. The vets here fixated on that old report, dismissed infection as a possible cause, and pressured us to agree to procedures they openly admitted they could not carry out themselves. We were initially told his blood tests were “great,” but later discovered they were abnormal and did show signs of infection. Communication throughout was cold and unsympathetic, and at one point, we were told they might not keep him overnight because of his behaviour, even if he required lifesaving medical care. How can a veterinary practice, the one place you should be able to trust that your animal is safe in, say such a thing? While I understand that my dog may be challenging, he deserves the basic decency of healthcare. My dog is not the only one who has a severe fear of the vets, and there should be protocols in place for animals like mine. Thankfully, antibiotics alone resolved the swelling, and our dog is now fully recovered without the invasive surgery they pushed for.
Positive experience: Came here with my sister and her poorly dog. The branch in Kippax only a 5min walk away from home had no vets available that day! On entering found the receptionists discussing a problem, work related but still found it rude to be kept waiting for 5 min with no acknowledgement. Went in to see the vet, during the consultation we would have liked the vet to talk to us more during the examination and after about what was happening to our dear dog. We were both upset and decided to take her home with painkillers. A more caring and two way conversation would have helped, we knew putting her to sleep was an option but it didn't feel right at that moment. Vets need to have some interaction and compassion with owners facing this difficult time.
Fantastic experience: Went to Abbey House Vets for an emergency appointment. Staff were very helpful and reassuring saw the vet fairly quickly. I have a 7 year old Cockapoo called Jinny who unfortunately had had 2 fit like episodes earlier, she was very lethargic and her heart beat was rapid . bloods were taken and advice given re said episodes . Would highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: We attended Abbey House as an out of hours emergency appointment but can't thank them enough for helping us out.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic place. Took our senior cat here with a suspected UTI. The vet were so lovley and our cat felt safe enough with her that she didn't lash out, which she usually do because she is scared.
Fantastic experience: This practice is superb nothing is too much trouble , the staff are very polite / friendly , the vet was very professional and explained everything in detail .
Fantastic experience: There’s a nurturing atmosphere throughout. The vets and nurses are very knowledgeable and patiently explained everything to us about our pets’ procedure. The receptionists are warm and friendly. Facilities like the separate waiting are for cats and Feliway-sprayed towels were such a lovely touch!
Fantastic experience: Took my pug there today even though not registered they were there to help, kind and curtouse to my pug friendly staff fantastic vet Highley recomend
Negative experience: I really like Abbey House it's the reason why all my pets, past and present, have been treated, checked, and in occasion euthanised there. A joyous place where I've taken kittens for their first injections; a considerate place when I've needed consoling, as well as plenty in-between. This high standard of service comes at a premium which is to be fully expected, and if it keeps the services running at such a high standard then I'm glad to be charged. Profiteering however is a step too far. Charge for the service, fine. £30 charge for medication, ouch. Quick check online..... Same medication available for £10 but you need a prescription. Abbey House charge £20 for a written prescription so you can buy the medication elsewhere. How is that fair? I had to buy two drugs as well. £40 of my £130+ bill child realistically been saved. Funny how it worked out to be the same price, so absolutely no saving. I expect a mark up. You can't exist without making a profit. But this is capitalising on an animal in distress, and emotionally/financially abusing the needing animals owner. I'll be copying this review into Google and trust pilot since you care about the feedback. I hope it urges you to change your profit margins to be as ethical as your care giving.
Fantastic experience: So grateful for our experience at Abbey House. From the welcome at the door to the difficult decision to put our beloved rabbit Bella to sleep. They allowed time with her and so sensitive. We received a beautiful card of condolences with a lovely paw print to cherish. Thank you so much for everything
Fantastic experience: I recommend abbey house as I took my terrified dog to Morley yesterday and he was really taken into account. They allowed us to wait in the carpark and when his turn came the vet himself came out to us and took him in a different entrance that was a bit less busy. My dog was crying, wriggling and fighting to get of the room but the vet talked to him a lot to try and settle him and worked round how we had to get drops in his eyes. He was so kind and nice. When we came out and was waiting for the medication all the staff made a fuss my dog when they were passing. It helped me as I was stressed knowing my dog was. You need that assurance or I think you do. Also alongside that when you ring up they answer promptly and courteously.
Fantastic experience: Would highly recommend, brilliant service, staff extremely helpful, the vet we saw was excellent she was very reassuring.
Fantastic experience: We took our very senior Pomeranian to Abbey House emergency clinic on a Sunday evening. We saw the vet (John) who was extremely thorough in his examination and explanations. Some medication and advice and he’s bounced right back. Thank you for your help and taking the time to see us.
Fantastic experience: Bank holiday monday- I did not visit the vets as luckily not needed- i telephoned twice with whelping concerns - the support and advice from the nurse and support from reception was greatly appreciated Thank you
Fantastic experience: Honestly couldn’t recommend them enough, Abbey house went above and beyond for my Dog today. They listened to everything I said and throughly checked him over. I had tried other vets prior to here who I won’t name but they tried to make me muzzle my dog (who’s not aggressive just large) she barely touched my dog and it was like she just wanted him out. BUT When I was met by the vet in abbey house he called him a lovely boy and said he’s friendly and a good boy, he reassured my dog and said your mums here while checking him over and taking all his observations. In my opinion the treatment and service you get is unmatched they really do care about your pet and you. The practice is clean and well set out the receptionist I spoke to was lovely on the phone and in person. Thank you Abbey House again for your help.
Negative experience: They diagnosed my cat with wrong illness, had to bring my cat in for another check. Been charged for both visits even if they made a mistake and nobody was held accountable for it. Met 5 staff members and 4 of them seem like they had no idea what they were doing. Definitely won't be bringing my pets here anymore.
Fantastic experience: We used Morley vets twice in emergencies. We found them to be excellent vets & very caring. We had to take our kitten on Easter Sunday. Unfortunately he couldn't be saved. Today we got a lovely condolences card from them & a pkt of poppy seeds to plant in garden to remember him. Thank you for being so caring, it's a lovely gesture, & totally unexpected Dawn
Fantastic experience: Highly recommended, prompt service, even in out of hours , will certainly use them again, many thanks
Fantastic experience: My 3 kittens were castrated and had their microchips implanted last week. I'm so happy with the service and care they received. The staff is very kind, caring and professional. My boys recovered in no time. Thank you Abbey House staff. Highly recommended
Fantastic experience: Was very helpful when we brought in an injured rat that lives in our garden. Did their best for him but unfortunately his injuries was worse than we thought.
Fantastic experience: Really happy with the whole process
Fantastic experience: Our pupper had a dental check today and we were very concerned because of his age but the lovely Cassie took so much time to talk to us and go through everything both before and after, we knew we were leaving him in good paws.
Negative experience: I avoid this veterinary practice now, their only interest is how much money they can make from you. I am pretty sure they are no longer independently owned but by a conglomerate. The caring attitude has all but gone , only a couple of vets maintain it but will they stay if they don’t make the practice enough money. It’s interesting to note the BBC have highlighted that 60% of veterinary practices are no longer independent. It also highlights how the vets that work for these practices are performance checked on the money they bring in. Do not for one minute think these practices care about your pet. Do what I did and register with an independently owned practice. Never looked back.
Fantastic experience: I can't thank everyone enough for seeing my beautiful dog biff. The staff and vets at this practice are just amazing. . You are reassured as soon as you enter with the most friendliest of staff. The vet I saw was incredible. She was so kind , understanding and so knowlagable. . She didn't rush you and listened intensly to me. What an outstanding veterinary service you are. Thank you so much. Regards Jane and biff
Fantastic experience: Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and quick to respond. They saw my rabbit and dealt with what was a life threatening situation with care and thoughtfulness. I'm grateful for everything they have done.
Fantastic experience: The vets here are great, really knowledgeable, kind and reassuring. The reception staff are very helpful and friendly. Sometimes it can be difficult to get an appointment at busy times, but that's understandable and they will always help if it's an emergency.
Negative experience: Went in on with my cat who was in slow labour and couldn’t get her baby’s out they wouldn’t offer me a payment plan as I did not have £3000 for a c section and there only other option was to have her put down or to give her to a charity I’m absolutely heartbroken my daughter is heart broken I didn’t want to let her go I was been huffed at because I would not agree to her been signed over within the hour of her having 2 injections to speed her labour up she had only just started to heavily pant and push her to waters out by the end of the hour I’ve now come away from there in my heart thinking one of the nurses there who owned 27 British short hairs was the lady who wanted my cat terrible I never want to step foot in a vets again specially not that one I feel robbed to say the least
Negative experience: Abbey House Veterinary Hospital Shocking. Our boy is still within your “care”. Until the final payment was made.. Payment was held back until you could confirm the correct amount you needed to look after our boy… Zero contact from yourselves, coincidentally,, when he passed he was no longer a source of payment. So maybe the point of contacting his mum or dad to keep updated on where he is, or what is happening, is possibly not at the forefront.. James Herriot cared for the animals. It seems the modern vet is purely monetary motivated. the compassion from the institution and practices owned by the parent company is literally coldhearted.
Fantastic experience: Had an amazing service at Abbey Vets. I use Batley and Morley branches the most and on the Morley visit today I was greeted by staff and also offered a free drink whilst I wait from their machine. The vets and nurses were very helpful and knowledgeable. The cost of my small treatment was also cheaper than the high street chains which is a bonus! I received an absolutely lovely service! Thank you. Can’t be any happier and can’t recommend you enough!
Negative experience: Dear Sir/Madam I am writing this email to complaint about that i been quoted between 700 to 1000 for X ray, blood tests, overnight stay and around 200-250 to put hip back on. Yout staff called me firat to give me update on ziwa etc, than called me again apologise saying that colleague quoted me wrongly and give me false information so instead of around 1300 you demanding 1800 which it's not fair. I been assured that overnight stay it's inclouded in estimates as I wanted to take night off. It's not my problem that your staff doing wrong quotations and trying to lurd customers to trap and demanding/stealing more money. Please can you let me know what option you will see. I spoke with pet plan and claim it's stopped till you will sort this out, as they agree with me. Also you so called manager from night shift on 03.03.25 she was arrogant, raising her voice over me, she wasn't able to explain me why I been lied and on the end she put phone down on me without goodbye or anything. That wasn't professional whatsoever. This is from 04.02.25 and I still don't have answer
Fantastic experience: I was in a mess to see Milo in so much discomfort, from making the phone call it was amazing. They got us in without delay and explained everything to us. On arrival the staff were excellent and soon we were with the vet. What a nice person he was kept everything calm and under control. Thanks to him milo is making a good but steady recovery would never hesitate to recommend and use them again thank you
Fantastic experience: I have been using Abbey House for my cats' care for 35 years now & can't speak highly enough of them. The staff are kind, compationate & sensitive to my pets needs.
Fantastic experience: Very early this morning my dog ate something she shouldn't have whilst on a walk, my normal vets was closed so I rang Abbey house as they are our emergency vet. The whole process was great from start to finish, the receptionists spoke in a calm manor making me feel more at ease about the situation and the vet we saw was so kind and helpful and very efficient in making sure my dog got the care she needed as quickly as possible. Luckily Layla is now back to her normal self but I am sure that if it wasn't for the speed she was seen in that it could of been much worse. Thank you all so much, will definitely reccomend your practice.
Fantastic experience: Very compassionate. I needed an emergency vet to euthanaise my elderly cat who had become very poorly. The receptionist very was kind and the vet was kind. Let you spend as much time as you want with your pet, not rushed at all. They also will give you for free paw prints which I think is a lovely thing. I chose not to have them as I did not have my other cats prints and I did not want my cat messed with too much when he was in distress anyway I wish it could have been done without the cannula as although he was taken away from me for insertion, I could still hear him squeaking(he could not meow). Can not fault the kindness shown and two weeks later a lovely card arrived with forget-me-not seeds in. A lovely thought. Thank you Abbey house for your compassion at a very distressing time.
Fantastic experience: My husband and I would like to thank so much to Abbey house team but mostly to night shift GP vet Amanda , who’s saved Diego’s life several times in last week. If not her help and compassion we wouldn’t make it to France to have Diego’s surgery. We will be owing Amanda that till the end of our lives. I wish everybody can have vet like her. Thank you beautiful soul ! we made it to France !
Fantastic experience: Fantastic vet surgery, absolutely everyone that we interacted with was calming, compassionate and helpful. Making a stressful time with concerns for our dog much easier to handle.
Negative experience: Appalling animal hospital. I would NOT recommend to anyone. Receptionists rude, bitchy and unkind. Talking about customers under their breath, smirking at a chap in the waiting room who was upset over his pet. Ashleigh? I think her name was. (Youngish girl on day shift Friday and Saturday) has an appalling attitude. Laughed out loud and smirked saying ‘oh dear’ when I explained that I didn’t have pet insurance. She is definitely in the wrong job. The initial consultation with the first vet was appalling. No ‘hello’, no ‘how can I help you’ not even an introduction on who he was. Didn’t examine my dog. Just turned to his computer and added product after product to my bill and then turned and told me the price. Not what he thought he problem was, not what was going to happen next. Scrub bottoms kept falling down revealing his posterior. Just scruffy & rude. Poor English language skills. Surely they have to be able to communicate??? I could go on and on about how appalling the experience was and how rude the staff were. I was mortified. As a Doctor myself I would be appalled if any of my staff behaved in such manner. Is it difficult just to show a bit of kindness and compassion? On the other hand, Vet Georgia and the vet on the night shift (Friday eve) were lovely. It’s a shame the minority and their poor behaviour overshadowed this. It resulted in me having zero trust in them. If my dog wouldn’t have been so unwell I would have taken him elsewhere. Disgusted and in total disbelief.
Negative experience: If you really love your pet, don’t bring it here! These people nearly killed my dog, ignored everything I said misdiagnosed the very same night after visiting here my dog went into shock and if I didn’t take it else where wouldn’t be with me today!!!! Instantly cancelled my subscription, and still to this day chasing me for cancellation fee even though I made it as clear as day that I will die before I make a payment to them!!
Fantastic experience: Always been able to see my dog promptly when not well no matter day or night. My dog is very anxious and they have always made him as relaxed as possible when seeing him and given him the best treatment.
Fantastic experience: A very welcoming veterinary surgery. My cat was treated very well and the vet took time to explain any treatment. It has a separate waiting area for cats which is useful.
Negative experience: Rang them as my dog had symptoms of an emergency infection pyometra. They told me to come down in an hour. Waited another 1.5 hours on arrival to be told they don’t know if she has the infection anyway. Charged £250 for a 5 minute consultation and a shot of antibiotic and painkillers and I’m non the wiser.
Negative experience: Shocking, has gone massively downhill. Not sure how they can practice as a emergency vets. I wouldn't trust any of my pets with them. They gave my dog sedation which he required oxygen for ans then gave him it again and had to be hospitalized. They don't respond back to you, there's a delay with any form of communication, the practice has massive gone downhill and I would strongly advise against taking your pet here. Their prices are extortionate and happy to put any charges on! Cannot stress enough what a bad experience we had!
Negative experience: So many more caring vets out there and with cheaper prices. We used abbey house for 2 years and found that they were usually quite uninterested in your dog, no care or compassion shown. Prices are higher than most other vets and often felt that they were lacking confidence in operations. We now go somewhere in rothwell which is family owned and much more friendly and also cheaper.
Fantastic experience: I first went to Abbey House 43 years ago, when my cat got leukemia, they were really helpful and friendly, they were located on Fountain Street then. My parents always came to them with all their cats and dogs. Now I have a new puppy, I will carry on coming to them for his health and wellbeing.
Fantastic experience: Not local but had an emergency with my little dog having a seizure. When I walked through the door, he was taken from me immediately to be checked over while i was sat down with a coffee & gave some details. The vet spent an almost an hour on him, making sure to do all relevant tests, checked his (newly prescribed) medication in fine detail, and gave us some great advice & a back up plan if it does happen again. Marshall is a very vocal and reactive dog. Thank you so much to all the reception staff/nurses/vets who helped us today & for the patience & care you showed me & my pup! If I didn't live so far away you would absolutely be my Practice of Choice. The end bill was WAY under what I was expecting too. ❤️
Negative experience: My cat was on very emergency situation at 11pm this Monday and need a timely rescue, but when I called them, they rejected my appointment. My cat had to wait until next morning to be accepted by another VET. However, it was too late to save her life. What a bad VET they are.
Fantastic experience: Vets appointments can be traumatic for pets and owners but the staff always make sure everyone is comfortable. When we lost our cat they have offered as much compassion and help as they could. They truly cared for him when he was still alive and when we had to say good bye they were so professional and delicate. All the staff are always very helpful and polite. We’ve never had a problem with accommodating appointments even in emergency situation. Highly recommended vet!
Fantastic experience: I've only ever used this practice in an emergency because my own doesn't offer emergency cover. The staff are great, lots of space inside and out to keep anxious pets apart and I was pleasantly surprised at the cost. Very reassuring to have this service available at a worrying time. Recommended.
Fantastic experience: We took our dog buddy here as he wasn't feeling great sadly had to have him put to sleep the staff here were amazing. I'd just like to thank them all. We did chose to get him cremated the turn around was very fast and we had our buddy's ashes back in just over a week. They also sent w lovely card and some sunflower seeds which was a nice touch. Thank you very much for the kind service.
Fantastic experience: I have always used this surgery however I recently had a poorly animal on a Saturday afternoon which is emergency/out of hours. From telephone call to seen by a vet and home within 2 hours. Would highly recommend Abbey house.
Negative experience: Great vets overall but significantly reducing my star count for how ridiculously expensive they are. Also incredibly cheeky with the products they offer.. had it multiple times now that I’ve bought stuff at the vets and then searched for those same product online, just to find them for at least half the price!
Fantastic experience: Brilliant service, fast and efficient. It wasn't my normal vet, mine was closed for the bank holiday. I was told to take my dog drew up to them. As soon as we arrived we were made to feel comfortable by reception staff. Only waited 20 mins to see a vet, who examined drew thoroughly and sorted medication quickly. Highly recommend this service
Fantastic experience: Meg is always happy to enter Morley Abbey house. The staff are always friendly and informative and patient when examining and diagnosing a slightly over enthusiastic spaniel.Meg has had the best treatment at this practice on many occasion.
Fantastic experience: I've recently moved to the area and was nervous having to find a new vet, but our initial appointment was very reassuring. I got an appointment quickly, the surgery is easy to find and has parking available, and then the greeting from the receptionists was so welcoming and friendly. The surgery is quite an inviting space and my two dogs were given a lot of time and care during the consult. Nothing felt rushed or too much trouble. I feel a lot more settled now moving to the area knowing my precious dogs are in good hands!
Fantastic experience: We had our baby girl have seizures and go here as an emergency case late Monday night. They did everything they could for her. We, devastatingly, had to have her put down. However, the nurses and vets couldn't be kinder, more compassionate and understanding. We rang several times while she was there and they all understood. I rang in tears over decisions that needed to be made and they were so caring. And when we went to have her euthanized, everyone we came across, from receptionists to the nurses were so patient and understanding. They made a really terrible time that bit easier. I can't recommend this vets enough. Thank you so much.
Fantastic experience: Excellent vets and would highly recommend for our much loved pets. The vets and nurses are extremely thorough and the receptionists very polite and quickly responsive with follow up care.
Fantastic experience: Took my dog to out of hours hospital. All staff were very friendly and helpful. My dogs issue was solved professionally and quickly with care. The cost was very acceptable
Fantastic experience: What a difference from last month's visit, if anyone is not satisfied with there service just speak with the manager, he does listen to what you have to say. Greta went for a dental (extract teeth) the reception desk greeted us as we walked in, appointment time waiting was fine not long at all, the vet gave her name she explained everything which we understood. We got a call on Greta's update and made an appointment which suited us to pick her up. We were shown Greta's dental x-rays yet again everything was explained in full details, all her medication and follow-up appointments, Greta was absolutely fine when she came home, not too sleepy at all within a couple of hours she was back to her normal self. I have been with Abbey House for many years and the service we received on the 25/07/24 was absolutely excellent, thank you to all the staff who were involved with Greta.
Fantastic experience: Saw Danielle with my dog Lexi today, she was great, answered all questions and went above and beyond. She is a credit to your practice and Lexi felt completely at ease with her. Thank you so much.
Fantastic experience: Georgia @ Morley is an amazing vet... she had been so supportive, professional and welcoming... even Ziggy (cat) likes visiting! Professional, friendly service! 10/10! Thank you Georgia x
Fantastic experience: Kobe has been a frequent visitor with an ongoing ear infection but suddenly became unwell so we phoned up and was told to come straight down. The staff have always been great with some of the vets going above and beyond. I can't thank the lovely triage nurse who came over to check on Kobe and reassure us whilst we waited to be seen enough as it helped ease the worry. The vet was also really good and we knew Kobe was in good hands.
Negative experience: First vet we saw (Jimmy) in an emergency for our dogs infection was very knowledgeable and helpful but after returning for the check up we encountered a useless vet who has to follow a procedure guide as she didn’t know how to treat our dogs infection. I believe she was called Jenny and the only thing she could tell me was I would need to spend £600 to have a sample of the infection sent off to a lab (despite the infection clearing and we just wanted more antibiotics to keep up with the process). We carried on with the antibiotics right to the end and the infection was nearly gone I rang in to get another weeks worth of antibiotics to be told this wouldn’t be an issue. The following day I rang back as I was told I’ll get a phone call when they were ready and I still hadn’t heard anything, only to find out the grossly incompetent vet has booked me an appointment at a date and time I can’t do and was never told about the day after making the call to reassess my dog and to try to squeeze more money. They did not care about my dogs health one bit only about the money they could make off of my dog.
Fantastic experience: Sadly had to rush our lovely 16 year old dog to Abbey House at 2am on a Monday morning. The vet was lovely, very compassionate and gave us space to say goodbye. The ashes were ready for pick up just over a week later. Thank you - a very difficult time was made slightly easier by your wonderful staff.
Fantastic experience: We sadly lost our beloved family cat who we had for just over 12 years and left us heart broken but abbey house were so good with the situation and the care for our lovely boy. The staff have always had so much time to give our fur family and to us. Such care was taken with my cat and he was treated so respectfully. I would like to thank the vet and Abby house so much for all the tried to do for him. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Still using Abbey House after over 10 years. Staff at reception desk are always so friendly and helpful. T-dog appreciates the new seats, much less slippery than the old ones!
Negative experience: Reception staff need training to be more sympathetic and friendly. I called up the other night to get advice as my cat was giving birth and the receptionist gave very rude and sarcastic answers saying stuff like “pregnancy can be painful apparently” and “if you had looked this up you would know”. This didn’t help the situation as we were being extra cautious to make sure she didn’t need to be seen. Will never contact this vet again.
Fantastic experience: Fabulous service. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Nothing was too much trouble . a friend took my cat in as I was away and she fell ill suddenly and no problem doing a video call. Excellent service and very much appreciated the piece of mind and the reassurance given that she was in good knowledgeable hands as I was not able to be there.
Fantastic experience: If anyone is struggling to find a really great veterinary, this is definitely the place to bring your fur babies. We brought our fur baby here at around 1:30am, the staff were absolutely amazing, so gentle and helpful with our girl, unfortunately we did have to say goodbye to her that night but with the support we received that night, it really showed just how much they care about animals, they also sent us a lovely card with their condolences. We recently went back to pick up her ashes and even then, the ladies were so supportive, it's such a lovely veterinary with great and caring workers. Thank you to Abbey House Morley for everything, it is highly appreciated.
Positive experience: Continued care at Abbey House was always excellent and thorough in the past. My two previously abused and terrified rescue dogs were transformed by the consistent understanding and gentle approach at the Rothwell branch. However, expensive dental treatment issues with my dog and aftercare at Morley were poorly handled and my complaint has never been properly resolved or concern shown. I returned to Rothwell at my own suggestion and am grateful for their help. But my little dog has never been the same.
Fantastic experience: Once again Abbey House didn't let me down! I've been bringing my pets here for over 30yrs & travel a round trip of 30 miles - I couldn't even think of taking my pets anywhere else! All the staff are lovely from the warm greeting at reception to the wonderful vets & last night I met one of the cleaning staff who was also lovely! Thank you for caring for our animals the way you do.
Fantastic experience: All our Dogs have been going to Abbey House vets for years and we’ve been attending the Morley Practice more due to our dogs needing use of the hospital side of the practice. Great vets and very supportive through difficult times with your pets.
Fantastic experience: Fabulous veterinary hospital. The surgical treatment and after care given to our Great Dane was spot on. The staff are always very polite & courteous. Can't thank them enough for looking after our Boy Blue
Negative experience: It was the first visit with the cat. thee was only a conversation (10min). I pad £51 !!!! no one told me it would cost £51.. Of course, I didn't get any tablets for a cat that is in permanent heat. The vet said that such pills are not available in England. xD so there ae such tablets all over Europe, but not in Great Britain.. If the visit lasts 5-10 min and you don't get help, it should be fee or max £15.. I'm disappointed..
