White Cross Vets

Positive experience: Will edit and update a few months from now. Not sure how I'm feeling about this vets. We've recently moved and had to switch here. Our previous vets are still on the ball and sending me texts when to administer wormers and when my dog is due vaccines but I've had radio silence from white cross since I signed up to their pet plan about 6 months ago. It also seems very pricey. My dog has frequent utis, our previous vet was charging around £100 for these with diagnosis and tablets. In this vets it came to £185, almost double. The pet plan contract has increased in price already too. The vets themselves seem nice, had no issues face to face.

Fantastic experience: I can’t thank these enough for the incredible care they’ve given to my dog. From the moment we walked through the door, the whole team has been nothing short of amazing. They not only handled her emergency surgery with professionalism and compassion, but they’ve also continued to provide wonderful care ever since. It’s clear that everyone there genuinely loves animals — they treated Millie as if she were their own, keeping me informed, reassured, and confident that she was in the best possible hands. The vets and nurses are knowledgeable, patient, and always take the time to explain everything clearly. Millie is thriving now, and I know that’s thanks to the dedication and kindness of this wonderful team. I’m so grateful to have found a practice that truly goes above and beyond. Highly recommend to anyone looking for caring, trustworthy, and skilled veterinary professionals

Fantastic experience: I was with this vets practice for just over a year, changed as it was a 20 mile round trip for me and my pets so the journey could be stressful especially at busy times. I have always found them all, from the receptionists, nurses and vets, to be professional, kind, caring and friendly. I signed up to their pet plan which has some great offers. Would definately recommend them.

I've been attending for years, they helped me when my cat was ill and and had to be put down and after a long break they welcomed me back like an old friend when I brought my 2 new kittens in. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants they pets to be cared for.

Fantastic experience: I visited for the first time today with my old lad, Ninja. I can't recommend this vets enough, the vet I saw was amazing, kind and understanding. Having experienced the opposite at another vets, it was lovely to have such a positive experience at White Cross. I won't be going to any other vets in the future because White Cross is the best I've ever come across.

Fantastic experience: I was really impressed with this vet practice. My dog, Fred, is not easy to examine due to his nervousness and size. The vet was kind and patient, resulting in being able to examine his eye without any restraint. (Only 1 other vet has managed this in over 13 years) The reception staff are top tier, organised and friendly. If only all vets could be like this.

Fantastic experience: White Cross vets have been excellent in providing a critical service for my elderly dog with a long term health condition. My regular vet are unable to provide the injectable version of the Kennel Cough vaccine and white cross stepped in to help out. Thank you so much

Fantastic experience: Amazing vets takes really good care of my dog as Zara’s not very good with the vets (previously had a bad experience from another vets) she is more at ease. Sometimes I just pop in with Zara for Zara to feel that the vet is not always a bad thing. We are always welcome Zara has a big fuss and a treat and most importantly reassurance off all the the staff. Will recommend to anyone with a pet

Fantastic experience: White Cross have looked after our pets from when they were little. Always super friendly, we have the wellness plans for all of our pets and they have yearly check ins. They refer to other vets for more specialist needs. They've always made appointments for me in reasonable time frames and have always seen my pets quickly in the event of an emergency.

Fantastic experience: We have been taking our dog to Handsworth branch for many years now. Always great service and lovely friendly staff.We pay for the monthly pet plan and find it to be good value for money.

Negative experience: Gradually dropped off a cliff over the last 4 years. The vets are poor and what’s the point in making an appointment if I then have to sit with my terrified pet for 45mins plus?? You let children run round shouting and screaming. It’s a vets waiting room not a play pen! Awful and won’t be coming back!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic care and advice given from staff at white cross vets. Nothing is to much trouble for them, our dogs Sweetie and Little Jack look forward to their appointments as they are treated so well. Well done to all staff at White Cross. We took our 2 year old puppies for their check up as well as sweetie and jack and as usual the staff were brilliant.

Fantastic experience: Continuing kind, caring, excellent availability, efficient but not rushed. Feel very happy taking my cat here with effective treatment and great outcome.

Negative experience: Wouldn't choose this vets unless you like paying out money. Can't believe that they charge for a consultation fee when it's a repeat visit for the same complaint. Also they do seem overpriced. My advice is shop around.

Fantastic experience: Staff are very helpful and patient and offer excellent advice and support in all areas of pet care and wellbeing. The health plan they offer is also very good value for money. Would definitely recommend this Vet practice.

Fantastic experience: I wish NHS would give us merely a fraction of this customer service and care. I am on wellness plan, and I call them all the time for advice and rush to them with any minor issues. Super friendly, very easy to book an appointment, and with a wellness plan, you are practically covered for every scenario!

Negative experience: Thought I would share my experience booked our dog in for booster injection £60 vet examined my dog and found ear wax £25 to take a sample then £46 for slow release drops.i was then told to bring him back in 4 weeks for a check up. Paid bill and booked in for check up 4 weeks latter vet told me I need to do another sample that £25 + YOUR £52 CONSULTATION FEE I SAID THIS IS A CHECK UP NO BODY TOLD ME IT WOUL BE ANOTHER £52 Be very Carefull ?

Fantastic experience: I would like to say a very special thankyou to Gemma who was Dukes vet for over 4yrs, Duke our mastiff recently became very ill our worst nightmare was to come and nothing could be done to save Duke he sadly had to be put to sleep, Gemma was such a caring, compassionate and genuine person during the time she looked after Duke and we can't thank her enough, thankyou so much for everything you did for Duke, I would highly recommend Whitecoss vets Handsworth Sheffield kind regards the Marsh family,

Fantastic experience: Recently took all my 5 cats(separately) to Whitecross vets and as always my cats and myself come out stress free as the practice and staff are so welcoming and calming and staff polite, they treat you and your pet as if you are family. Fully recommend white cross as I can't fault it.

Fantastic experience: Amazing veterinary centre. The receptionists are always very welcoming, nice and helpful. Every time we deal with a different vet but we are always happy with the care given. They will also put you on a follow up in a week time if needed to ensure everything is alright.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service and very friendly staff. The pet wellness plan is the best value one around as the consultation fees are included in the plan !!!. That is a really good saving especially if you have multiple pets it's already saved us a few hundred pounds. The vets here are brilliant and always give there all to the care of your pet. 100% recommend White cross vets we wouldn't go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: One of the best vet practices around, staff are friendly, calm and have the best interest for your pets health, even though my pets do not fancy a ride in the car, they are always treated with kindness at the vet!

Fantastic experience: Lovely, just changed vets from drake house vets for pets, really in pressed with white Cross, one thing could do with a bell at reception, can wait a bit at reception, but apart from that 5 stars ✨

Negative experience: Updated June 2022 - Unfortunately I cannot recommend this vets any more. Downgraded my rating. We recently went away for a week in the Lakes and stupidly forgot our dogs Metacam. I thought I could rely on my vets to help out so I called White Cross and asked for a prescription to be emailed to me. I would then be able to order some Metacam online with next day delivery to our holiday location. I was told that I would be emailed a prescription that afternoon, it would cost £18 and someone would call me back to take payment over the phone. Massive relief... Except no one called and no prescription was sent! Due to the jubilee bank holiday they were closed for the next 3 days so we had to go without Metacam for our dog. Extremely poor service from White Cross. We can no longer trust or rely on them, we will now be registering our dog elsewhere. My original review... We registered our dog with White Cross 2 years ago. The receptionists are fantastic, really friendly and cheerful. The vetinarians are very good although they do have a tendency to try to upsell very expensive and often unnecessary treatments. Recently we visited and our dog needed some Metacam for which we were charged £87 for 100ml!! 100ml of Metcam is £18 from various trusted online pet pharmacies (with a prescription). They're charging 4.5 times the price; that's disgusting in my opinion! Next time we'll ask for a prescription and buy it ourselves. Very disappointed that White Cross extorted us like this.

Fantastic experience: The main reason for leaving a 5 star review is due to how the vet tried his best to keep my dog calm as he is very timid, he even let him sniff his stethoscope before giving him a thorough examination, He also examined him on the floor rather than lifting him onto the table so as not to upset him. Highly satisfied

Fantastic experience: We recently moved to this vets as it's closer to our home. We couldn't be happier, the building is bright and airy and staff very welcoming. We have seen the same vet three times, Dr. Rebecca, she's absolutely lovely. Dr. Rebecca even gave us two packets of the food my kitten had been demanding after his neuter! I would, and have recommended the practice to my friends. Hadn't been inside the vets much due to Covid restrictions. Lovely to see this morning that they now have a cat only area in the waiting room. Staff are lovely as ever, I still highly recommend the practice.

Fantastic experience: White cross vets at handsworth have always been amazing regarding my rabbit and past buns. I always find Dave, Tammy and becky go above and beyond for customers. They are patient with me regarding difficult decisions I've had to make with my past bunny's and always go through options throughly with me. It's not always been a great result with my pets outcome but I can not fault the vets as always been amazing and kind to us.

Fantastic experience: Receptionist were extremely friendly and made a fuss of all animals going into the surgery. Lovely to see people in a job that they love. The vet was very professional and interested in my little dogs wellbeing. Would not go anywhere else.

Negative experience: Used to a fantastic vets but has gone down hill drastically. Some days no vet is even in the building, other days you can be waiting 4 weeks for an appointment. Ridiculous Extortionate prices. Reception staff friendly and helpful though.

Fantastic experience: The staff are always super friendly and always make a big fuss of my dog, Daisy, whenever we come in. She’s very anxious when in the treatment room but the vets are so good and gentle with her every time we visit. She even got a top dog bandana once for being brave!

Fantastic experience: Always there to help,either by phone or appointment, even if there full they ask for photos so you can get a quick response if needed. Joined there plan and saved a fortune already on visits to the vets as my dog is always doing something she shouldn't. Would highly recommend White Cross Vets to all animal owners..

Negative experience: This used to be a 5 star vets office. But I honestly can't say that anymore. If your reading WhiteCross. Please understand an animals health should Not be based on a lotto system. If we call with a sick animal that animal should be triaged on how unwell it is. NOT put into tomorrows lotto of who has the fastest phone to call in. The fact you seem happy with the service of leaving animals sick for 4 to 6 weeks before offering them treatment appts is appalling and not want I want from my vet. Not everyone's job or life allows them to play vet lotto morning after morning trying to gain treatment we have already paid for with our monthly plans.

Fantastic experience: Always amazing, any concerns with my pets there always seen within a matter of hours. I won’t go anywhere else now. The service is second to none. The staff are amazing and always make to feel welcome. Highly recommend them to anyone. And the pet plan is great plan also.

Fantastic experience: We have just joined this practice after leaving our old vets . When searching for a new one I went online and read some good reviews about White Cross. I am so glad we changed, our cat Boston has had to have quite a bit of dental work done and the whole team couldn’t be any better at caring about your pet and reassuring us and answering any questions , the cost was reasonable too. A great vets I would recommend.

Fantastic experience: It was easy to register my kitten here, I just called and answered a few questions. I took my kitten for his first vaccination and the staff were all really kind and professional. I returned to get my kitten neutered, they took great care of him and were once again lovely and professional. Taking him back for next vaccination soon and for his post operation check up. The building is very clean and tidy. I'd highly recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: I've visited this vets many times due to my two pugs. The vets are always very knowledgeable and helpful. Today I had to get someone else to take my pug and I had a phone consultation with vet David who was very helpful and wanted to get to bottom of poor Stanley's health problems. He spent around ten minutes going into Stanley's issues giving me advice and putting my mind at rest. It was really great they agreed to include me on the appointment. Obviously my pugs are extremely important to me and I hate that I'm having to still shield and ask others to take my boys to the vet, but thankfully I was still able to be a fussy worried mum. Lol Thank you so very much I was dreading him going without me been there, I know how nervous he can be without me. White Cross vets really have gained my trust over the years and I would highly recommend to any pet owner who wants the best for their much loved best friends. My boys are more like service dog's they look after me and I look after them with white Cross vets help. A big thank you for looking after Stanley and Charlie. See you soon

Negative experience: Took my cat in ....they infomed me it would be 700 pounds to treat him ..(.been quoted 70.).I didnt have the money available .....I wanted to take him elsewhere..... where I could set up a payment plan ..they refused to let me take him ...gave me three options Borrow the money fast They would euthanize him Do the op and rehome him (a 9 year old cat) They said it was duty of care to not let him go ..but I went at 3 and he was still waiting at 5 whilst they argued about money ...not interested about my pet ...he could have been seen at another vet practice . I will take this legally as far as I have to as all they care about is MONEY . Paid 420 to get my pet home .it was their arrogance and threats of euthanasia that I will report .... I wouldnt take a goldfish there .if I could put minus ten stars ...I would .Awaiting response from clinic director ....

Fantastic experience: Took me African grey in today,he was so so ill,they agreed to see him but it's more an exotic pet line of field...the gentleman vet hadn't seen much of my parrots symptoms but I have him to thank because i was immediately put forward to a exotic specialised vet at another practice,oscar my parrot was so I'll but hes has now picked up a little bit threw the other vets seeing him they did all they cud hes still poorly not put of the woods but I jo I do no if the vets at white cross hadn't have acted so quickly for Oscar's further treatment I jo he would have not had a chance,so thank you to all the staff,he has that chance now.Thank you everyone for your quick thinking and help.

Fantastic experience: I was recommended by a friend. Our first visit was for a health check and routine vaccinations. The vet was fantastic with our new dog Blue and the nursing/reception staff were very friendly and helpful. I signed up for the wellness plan there and then. I would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Great Customer service lady on reception answered all my questions and was very helpful and friendly . It was our first visit and the Vet was great with our dog. I highly recommend this practice and the plan that you can buy is very cost effective to keep your dog in good health . Highly recommend.

We had loads of questions as we are new to having a dog. The staff were so patient & answered anything we wanted to know & gave great advice! Fantastic experience: Fantastic vets We have had a very poorly dog on our hands for the last three days and all staff have been so kind and caring - from the receptionist giving us a private room to cry in whilst we waited for blood test results to Nikolai arranging for our effortless handover to VetsNow when Murphy needed to be hospitalised overnight. We were allowed to visit Murphy whenever we asked and Nikolai came out to meet us and provide us with an update every time. We have had a great experience with White Cross Vets during a very difficult few days and now have Murphy back home with us cuddled up on the sofa and recovering well. Thank you, all!! Xx

Fantastic experience: Turned up today without an appointment as my dog was not well. Even though we hadn't used them before they got us in straight away and gave treatment. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: The pet plan is excellent. Was late to my appointment it was no problem at all. Very friendly receptionist, could tell she likes her job choosing to fuss some of the chatty animals in at the time. The vet we saw was great, 2 kittens who were very nervous and she did everything she could to reassure them. Overall 10/10

Fantastic experience: First time today at WhiteCross after changing vets. Congratulations on dealing very well and with patience with an angry and scared little pug who did not want to be examined let alone have a booster jab. Glad we changed.
