They literally refused to accept my money for the first initial consultation (which was free unbeknownst to me) after I felt bad paying nothing for such a helpful appointment - had to stick some in charity jar on my way out they were so insistent on not taking any money

Fantastic experience: The best vets I have ever come across and I’ve lived in different parts of the country. They cared for my cat and dog for many years and were dedicated to their health and wellbeing. They are sensitive to the pets needs but also mine as an owner. We sadly had to euthanise my beloved dog recently and Fran and the team made an incredibly difficult and devastatingly sad experience bearable. They are genuinely a wonderful team and I’m forever grateful for the care, love and kindness they extended to my pets.

Fantastic experience: Everything, and i truly mean everything, about Highfield vets is the best. We tragically lost 2 of our cats suddenly last year (at the same time!) And the staff were truly wonderful, kind, caring & kept our dog entertained whilst we said goodbye to our angels. Tragically, we lost our 3rd cat just 3 months later & again, each & every member of staff was kind, compassionate & caring. Our dog is obsessed with coming to the vets, he loves it, which is testament to how wonderful the staff are. Furthermore, my silly kitten bit me really badly & the staff (Shout out to Sophie) was so caring to me making sure it was clean. They're truly the best. Thank you to everyone, we love you all so much

Fantastic experience: Took in my kitten to be spayed. They provided a really good service and treatment. Took her back under warranty when she looked rough AF over the weekend and they treated her very kindly again. 8 didn't think the prices were too expensive but I've nothing to compare it too. They sorted the insurance out for me anyway.

Fantastic experience: This practice is the best I've ever used. From the reception to the consultation rooms it's clean, bright and welcoming. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming. All pets information is saved and referred to during the consultation. The vets are brilliant and really put you at ease. They keep you fully informed during the consultation.

Negative experience: I was really disappointed with my experience here. I felt there was a lot of emphasis on expensive treatment options and not enough discussion about more affordable or practical alternatives. Personally, I prefer smaller, independent vets that seem to take more time to understand both the pet and the owner’s situation. For transparency, this practice is part of IVC Evidensia, a large international veterinary group founded in the UK in 2011. They run thousands of clinics across several countries and are partly owned by private equity funds and investors including Nestlé.

Fantastic experience: Our dog has been going to Highfield on London Road all the time she has been with us, 12 years. Very welcoming reception area. Always great service from the vets we see and the nurses. All good. Over the years the dog's vocabulary has grown and so she is wary about walks in the direction of the vets. A real drag.

Fantastic experience: Cannot recommend this practice enough, they've been fantastic with both of my kittens - pet plans, treatments, vaccinations, microchipping & castrations have been a breeze! The vets, nurses and all staff are extremely caring and absolutely incredible with everything that they do

They must have saved her a hundred times, and I will be forever grateful for their exceptional care, compassion, and dedication. A special shout-out to Dottor Fran, who went above and beyond for Birba time and again. She was always there for us — not only treating Birba with extraordinary skill and kindness but also supporting me emotionally through every stage of her illness. She is an exceptional human being whose compassion carried me through this entire journey. It’s no surprise that Birba adored her and purred at every single appointment. The nurses — Abi, Stacey, Sophie, and Morgan — are truly wonderful people. They treated Birba with genuine love, kept me informed during every hospitalization, and always took the time to share detailed updates with warmth and empathy. I could see how much they cared for her in every gesture and every word. Thank you Abi for your kind words and for being with me on Monday. I will always remember that. And finally, a heartfelt thank you to Molly, who guided me through the most difficult decision of my life. Her compassion, her hug, and her comforting presence meant the world to me during the hardest moment I’ve ever faced. Thank you.

Negative experience: I have waited over a year and been through multiple tests with my cat’s bloody diarrhoea and vomiting, yet all Highfield Vets can tell me is the tests seem fine and to try hypoallergenic food - she has already been eating hypoallergenic this whole time. They do not care to find out what is wrong with my SUFFERING cat. They’re awful, useless people who don’t care about animals at all.

Fantastic experience: From the phone calls I made to the physical visit, I have nothing but praise for this friendly veterinary centre. Thank you to Jamie, especially, you were so good with Nell. I would happily recommend their services.

Fantastic experience: Excellent vets! Gentle and caring. Everything was explained clearly to me. The waiting room was calm and quiet. Cost options were explained to me. I felt no pressure to choose a particular treatment. It’s really useful that you can book online and you can get reminders for appointments. Also, there is a free car park for customers that might not be super obvious to new customers. It’s just next to the camera shop.

Fantastic experience: We have two cats, we have always been really happy with the service and care of our cats. They have a quiet cat clinic upstairs which is so much better than the busy entrance waiting room. Definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: Whenever I have lived in the area I have registered my pets with Highfield Vets. Over 30+ years I have seen consultants/staff come and go. Each new set have always been dedicated to the care and welfare of my fur babies. Currently I am in receipt of benefits and they were so kind and helpful when I didn't have enough funds at a routine booster appointment for my cat. They had to be unexpectedly treated for something else and I had set aside enough funds for the booster only. My cat received the medication and I left with my dignity intact. My pets and I particularly appreciate the cat area and the care they receive from ALL the staff. They are never stressed on return from an appointment with Highfield. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: I've had very mixed experiences with vets, and I'm very cautious, but I can't speak highly enough about Highfield Veterinary Centre. The vet remembered my dog after one brief visit months previously and showed genuine care and empathy to both of us. I received excellent advice and recommendations, and they even used liver paste as a distraction when giving my dog an injection. She usually cries, but this time, she didn't even notice the needle! On a private pet healthcare landscape, where emotional bonds are easily exploited for profit, genuine and caring people like this are truly valuable. I highly recommend this surgery.

Fantastic experience: We have nothing but praise for Highfield Vets. They are so loving and caring towards animals. We have been coming for years. We have just had our beautiful chocolate Labrador put to sleep. Keith, the receptionist, was so kind and caring and was even trying to arrange for someone to come to us as our dog couldn't walk. We did manage to get him there and the Vet Morley and Nurse Abi carried him in from our car. They made him so comfortable and gave us forbidden treats(chocolate) to give him to eat. They made sure he enjoyed his last moments. Thank you to each and everyone of you.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing vet clinic. My Indy and Jonesy came here as kittens from the Sheffield Cats Shelter and I’m so glad I have continued bringing them here. The staff are wonderful, helpful, will not waste your time, take concerns seriously, and the service is wonderful. Would also recommend doing their payment plans— just makes life so much easier.

Negative experience: Really disappointing - raised a concern regarding treatment my dog had a year ago. Was completely misdiagnosed with a heart murmur (have since confirmed with 2 new vets that our dog DOES NOT have a heart murmur) and vet was expecting us to pay around £800 for a heart scan. Luckily we know our dog and knew his systems weren't cardiac so did not pay for the scan. Unfortunately, our dog was diagnosed with Cushing's disease (under a completely new vets) as they had picked up on blood results from the previous year (that were conducted by Highfield). Highfield failed to inform us of the actual results of these bloods and were instead very adamant we should pay for the heart scan. The vet at the time even picked up on symptoms of Cushing's disease but failed to conduct further tests (despite being very aware of the blood tests) - we were actually heavily judged that my dog had lost some of his hair and had muscle wastage (symptoms key with any dog with Cushing's!!!). Expression of concern submitted to Highfield once my dog had been correctly diagnosed and received a VERY rude response from the clinical director refusing to take any accountability or even express any empathy with our situation. Very very disappointed and only hoping our dog will not suffer too much from something he could have been diagnosed with much earlier if Highfields took a more holistic approach rather than being so narrowminded / fixated on issues that weren't there.

I have a very nervous and sassy chihuahua/pug who refuses to even let the vet touch her..but today the vet spent so much time making Honey feel calm and comfortable. The staff are very enthusiastic about their role and they clearly know their stuff which makes me feel very confident that my dogs are in good hands. You can tell they are doing the job because they care about animals which makes all the difference.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant vets, thorough and least invasive as possible for my new adpoted cat who was neglected by his past owner. Pet-centred. And didn't disregard my observations as I have with past vets. Within 6 weeks he now has much better overall health. He is now loving life.

Positive experience: I want to start by saying the service that I recieved was 5 stars, the vets were very informative and my original five stars was due to the vet estimating what I believed to be a fair price for my cats dental if in the vets words " the dental took hours and hours and many teeth had to be removed" however only 5 teeth were removed taking no longer than 3 hours and I was charged just under £800 (working out at around £80 per tooth) plus the dental etc which in hindsight I don't believe to be correct. All in all, this vets is great when comparing it to the other general money sponges and the staff are good!

Fantastic experience: Best vets around, don't rip you off, so caring for every animal. I've recommended to my friends and they totally agree, when visiting you are confident your treasured pet is taken care of. Brilliant service, private car park to use, excellent value in comparison to other vets. I would not go anywhere else. My friend took her dog in to be 'done' the vet could see my friend was nervous, asked her if she had any questions, in the end she was advised to take her dog home as the procedure wasn't necessary. He was booked in and everything and they just sent her away, no charge. Trust me you will be glad you chose Highfield.

Fantastic experience: Me and my family have been using these vets for about 15 years now. They are truly great at what they do and you can tell they see the animal in front of them, rather than just a paycheck which we'd experienced at some vets before. They're very knowledgeable and make you feel welcome immediately. Whilst taking one pet in, I've even had them ask about the other one by name which shows they truly care! When it came to the awful time to say goodbye, they were very supportive and allowed me to take my time on a decision of what to do with the remains. I honestly wouldn't go anywhere else, even if I moved out of Sheffield I'd make the drive here.

Negative experience: Just been there went to get my new American pocket bully health checked he’s well behaved and friendly, and receptionist were more helpful then veterinarian ! I had to ask her what to check and remind her what’s include the health check! Even with that she didn’t check the mouth and teeth’s properly and didn’t ask me to get the dog to show her ! Honestly happy with receptionist but not the veterinarian! If you got a bully make sure you book with the correct vet.

Fantastic experience: I had the pleasure of my 16 year old cat being treated by Dr Emma, I entered the surgery everytime full of anxiety and concern for my little lady and every time I left knowing exactly what the next steps were. My cat came in with a cold that turned into an upper respiratory infection, which can be quite serious in older kitties. My cat was treated with genuine care and compassion, and I was given all the tools I needed to make sure my little old lady had a swift recovery. She’s since had an antibiotic shot and is doing amazingly! Back to her normal sassy self. Thank you Emma!! ❤️

Negative experience: First time brought my 2 month old kitten to the vet for health check, flea treatment, and first vaccine. We were there for 20 minutes only, and I can safely say that the experience was very poor. We were the first one in on a Saturday and were on time but the receptionist abruptly and unkindly rushed my partner to get inside the consultation room as soon as possible, whilst I was locking my car outside which took 30 seconds. The vet at no point introduced herself, I still don’t know her name not sure if she’s a vet and not sure of her role? The vet seemed quite annoyed and expected us to hold the kitten so that she could examine the bottom, at no point explain why and how she needed our help also never thanked us for assisting her for the examination. The vet never at any point ask for our concern or that if we have any questions, the vet did not seem bothered to try and strike a good rapport with us. She ended the consultation by opening the door and coldly say my next patient is here. On our way out the receptionist did not forget to tell us that next time we should get a more secure carrier for the kitten. I am making a formal complaint to the manager due to unprofessionalism I encounter and general unkindness from almost every aspect of our 20 minute interaction. I mean there is a bare minimum of service that I expected from paying to see the vet, but this doesn’t even hit the bare minimum I feel. The only good thing about this vet so far is that it has a parking space for the car.

Positive experience: We have used them for years and trust them, helpful staff and obviously care for animals and don't try and add in extra treatments. It's pricey as all are but reliable. Average base consult price of £50/60 plus anything else needed.

Fantastic experience: Took very good care off my 3 rats, very friendly and personable service and very reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend!

Negative experience: My dog had a tooth extraction operation at this hospital, the doctor said it was a dozen, and finally 35 were extracted, and after the operation, no antibiotics were given, resulting in my dog being rescued two days later and one eye may be out of sight. My dog almost died.

Fantastic experience: Highfield are amazing! I’m a no longer local but very happy to travel to them as their care and attention they’ve provided to my cats is second to none. They are incredibly accommodating in terms of appointment availability. I absolutely love that they have a cat advocate, Stacey who is absolutely brilliant. The cat specific area is a brilliant addition. All the vets are wonderful but I have to say that Fran just amazing. Truly thankful to have my precious pets under their care.

Fantastic experience: The practice as a whole is brilliant, every vet or nurse we have seen have been kind, caring, and shown a genuine love for our puppy. They have never been pushy with their monthly pet plan but we were made aware of it from the start. We have joined this and get all flea and worm treatment and vaccines included within this as well as 20% of off neutering. Highly recommend this place!!

We don’t live locally any more but are happy to travel across the city to go to Highfield because we know that we can trust them to care for our pets at a reasonable price.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love Highfield vets. My family dog was registered with them for years and always recieved fantastic care, so I didn't hesitate in registering my own dogs there after moving back to the area. One of my dogs can be nervous, particularly of strangers touching her - which has always made Vet trips very stressful. However, whole team at Highfield's made my dogs first experience there such an enjoyable one. The team put in such an effort to spend time with me and my dogs and get them comfortable first - to the point where my 'nervous' dog was climbing up the front of Kate, one of the amazing Vet Nurses, to get kisses and cuddles. Jess, one of the wonderful Vets, was also so amazing with both of my dogs. I cried with happiness on leaving, as it was such a relief and weight that was lifted to know that I can take my dogs somewhere to get expert care, where they not only just feel comfortable, but actually had a great time - which is something I never thought I'd be able to say with a stranger-nervous dog. Thank you so much to the whole team. I would recommend Highfield Vets whole heartedly

Negative experience: This was previously a 5 star review, sadly after tonight I have to change it, after a guinea pig sadly passed away a few weeks ago we went to get him cremated, they tried to charge almost double their previous rate (which is still considerably more than the cost of going directly to the crematorium), we opted to just go direct, now, several weeks later they come chasing a bill for a cremation they didn't even organise! Phoning on a Friday evening well after closing time chasing money that isn't even owed is both callous and casts doubt over the organisation of the practice in general, used Highfield for years, but after today I'm afraid to say they've lost my business

Fantastic experience: Great availability and helped as soon as our cat needed urgent attention Surgery is well stocked. Blankets for nervous cars, little poop bags, free treat for doggos. Very cute. Quick to be seen. Very thorough in their approach, thorough and kept in contact with us every step of the way. Cannot thank Fran and the team enough for taking care of Zeus. Would recommend them to everyone!

My brother and his fiancée came to visit us from abroad and brought their cat with them. So we took him for a check-up and a "fit to travel" certificate. The vets were very professional and treated Zeus super well, even though he's a very nervous and antisocial cat .
