Vets for Pets - Sheffield Wadsley Bridge: Reviews
Positive experience: I contacted the clinic with concerns that my cat may have been exposed to lilies. Initially, I was told there was no availability, but later I received a call back and was offered an appointment, which I appreciated. However, once I arrived with my cat, I was surprised that no one asked for detailed information about what had happened, how much exposure there may have been, or how my cat was behaving at the time. There were no clinical questions about symptoms, appetite, vomiting, or general condition. Instead, I was presented with an estimate of approximately £700 and informed that treatment would only begin after payment. At that time, my cat was showing no signs of illness or deterioration. Given the absence of symptoms and the lack of assessment or discussion, I decided to take him home and seek alternative advice. While monitoring him closely afterwards, he continued to show no signs of illness, and it now appears that this was likely a false alarm. Had I agreed immediately to the proposed treatment, my cat would have undergone invasive procedures and hospitalisation unnecessarily. I fully understand that lily exposure in cats can be serious and that clinics must act with caution. I also believe that the clinic likely helps many animals in genuine emergency situations, and I respect the work that veterinary teams do in critical cases. This is not a personal criticism of any individual staff member, but rather feedback about the overall approach and communication I experienced. However, I left feeling uncomfortable and somewhat misled, as the focus seemed to move very quickly towards a costly treatment plan rather than towards a careful clinical evaluation of my cat’s actual condition. I had expected a thorough medical discussion before being asked to commit to such a significant financial expense, and unfortunately this experience affected my trust. I am sharing this not to discredit the clinic’s work, but to provide a fuller picture of my personal experience so that others can make informed decisions.
Fantastic experience: Very caring and sympathetic to me on the loss of my two chihuahuas Lulu and Laila treated them both with dignity and kindness and so supportive towards me Thank you Paris for staying with Laila in her last few minutes of her life and thank you to all the staff
Negative experience: Took a wee sample for my cat charged £97 as could not get to Barnsley one,who was dealing with the original traetment, when told Barnsley said would have charged £16 so new name for this place is Vets for Money.
Fantastic experience: Lovely staff members throughout the entire building. Super considerate too when animals are unwell, really shows how much they truly do care
Negative experience: The worst vets I have ever known and I've had dogs all my life! Important surgery cancelled twice, so nearly a year on still need my dog spaying. Changed dates they needed to see her lots of times & kept changing wrongly. Only using locum vets. Other appointments altered too. The only positive thing I can say is the reception staff are friendly
Fantastic experience: This review feels about 2 months coming but I want to say a massive thank you to Paris, Becs, Liv, Jess and Megan for their respectful and professional treatment of my little (newly diagnosed) diabetic cat Lola. A very unexpected diagnosis threw me into stress, sadness and uncertainty a month ago. Paris' no nonsense, upfront approach allowed me to act quickly and get Lola on the route to stabilisation following the gold-standard she recommends. Bec's knowledge and empathy add into to the reassurance that they know best and will not just tell me what to do, but also work with me if something doesn't feel right. Whilst Lola is now greeted with the familiar 'Hola Lola' from Jess, I'm also being armed with more and more helpful information from Liv. This team is a well-oiled machine of incredible women and I am lucky to have them as my vet team for me and my girls :)
Negative experience: Triple the cost of local vets. How do they get away with these prices?
Fantastic experience: i would like to say thank you to Jessica the practice manger and the receptionist who was working today for everything they have done for my dog dougie i really appreciate your help with everything thank you
Fantastic experience: They did amazing with my girls spay honestly couldn’t have asked for it to go any better thankyou
Negative experience: I rang yesterday needed to see a vet pretty urgent as per video vet call I was told the vet was off poorly, and was directed to Barnsley which I am unable to get to. Asked for an emergency appointment tomorrow and was told as their vet was really poorly they wasn't a vet all week. I questioned how can a vets practice not have a vet in all week. She then said well I mean we have no appointments available all week, which I just find totally unacceptable. How can you as a vets practice be telling your customers you can't take your sick pets their to be seen at all this week. Surely they should still offer emergency appointments in your own practice not just direct you to their out if hours surgery which is miles away in Barnsley. I managed to get my pet in with another local vet the following morning with no issues at all. I understand you may have staffing issues when someone is off sick but to say your pet can't be seen at your vet at all that week is just ridiculous and not acceptable to me.
Negative experience: Unbelievably rude reception staff on when I came for my cat’s appointment Saturday 22nd November - we waited for 15 minutes at reception with no vet staff in sight, I’d just wrangled my cat into a box for this and he wasn’t getting any happier, only for two ladies to come out and tell me I was over 20 minutes late - well I wasn’t when I got there! There was no need to be so rude, like I haven’t just been stood there watching the clock. Check the cameras you can see how long we were waiting to be seen. To be fair they did eventually tell me that even at the time I arrived it would already be too late for the appointment, which is fair enough but I didn’t need to hang around any longer if that was the case, so what were they doing in the back that whole time when they had customers waiting?
Fantastic experience: Outstanding care and support Fantastic team Go Team Wadsley Bridge!
Positive experience: Kirsty from the vets4pets team contacted me re:my previous 1 star review. We had an open and honest conversation around my concerns about costs in quotes. I appreciated this gesture and the opportunity to share my thoughts. I felt my views were taken onboard and reflected upon, likewise I too listened to their perspective. Lola had her procedure today and received a high level of care from the team. She is now back home recovering.
Fantastic experience: I can’t speak highly enough of Laura and the team. My Labrador is on the monthly worming/flee treatment plan and this includes regular checks when they usually sort his anal glands and any other routine issues. Laura always takes the time to answer questions and check I’m happy with potential treatment. The reception and vet nurse team are excellent too and I never feel rushed when I visit or call them
Fantastic experience: So friendly and good with our dog,to be truthful cannot fault them
Fantastic experience: Have our molly groomed by the lovely girls at the groom room always comes back beautifuly cut and smelling fresh

Fantastic experience: The staff were very understanding and compassionate after my dogs accident.
Fantastic experience: Big pet shop for my doggie needs and a veterinary for his annual vaccine. Bought my kids 1st fish tank and guppies from here.
Fantastic experience: Have both my dogs with vets for pets and the staff are really good with all animals and welcoming, very friendly and informative. The vets always explain what they are doing and there's even little treats for the pets while you wait ☺️
Negative experience: Not happy with service was told I needed a blood test for my dog when I clearly didn't and was given a diagnosis and then was told that wasn't what was said avoid!!!!!
Fantastic experience: One of our favorite shop, can buy plenty of good quality products. Membership also available. Vet on site, also dog grooming.
Fantastic experience: Can get anything you require for your pet's in this store for my dog and fish
Fantastic experience: Got a tank set up and assessories. Staff very helpful. Also suggested offers so help save money.
Fantastic experience: Can't go wrong in this store. The bunnies are so cute.
Positive experience: Staff are really helpful and the shop has everything you need for your pet
Fantastic experience: Very polite staff, well organised , my dog is very reactivate so they let us use the rear door. Brilliant vets
Positive experience: I felt that the lady at the till was preoccupied and she didn't really answer my question. The shop had a good amount of stock and was very clean and tidy.
Negative experience: I’ve only put 1 start cos it wouldn’t let me put zero Had appointment 11.10am still stat here at 12.20 my dog stressed and no apology or update from anyone a total waste or time
Fantastic experience: So helpful and caring. Had to organise a kitten surgery, they were clear what was required, how long the surgery would last, aftercare etc. I would recommend.
Fantastic experience: Very helpful regarding assisting me with dogfood for my dog who as had a stomach issue.
Positive experience: Not brilliant in my opinion, took my dog for an annual booster, the vet gave my dog a very brief examination/annual MOT but didn't take his temperature, got the feeling this place is really all about making money
Negative experience: Nightmare! The vets are usually shut at the weekends because of no staff availability. They cancelled my pets health care plan and when I asked why, no one knew what happened. That answer of "we don't know what happened". I ordered my 3 month flea & worm treatment and was told the meds will be ready by Tuesday. I go in to collect and the receptionist frankly says to me "you've collected your pets meds, so the Vet cancelled your order". I said "no I had not!". So AGAIN the I had to order the meds, wait another week and when I asked why did this happen the receptionist blankly said "I dont know". everyone seems clueless and we are placing our pets care in their hands.......
Fantastic experience: Lady Ellie is treated very well and the staff have a good understanding of her present issue. She is in safe hands
Fantastic experience: Always nice staff and do all they can for the pets
Fantastic experience: Always very helpful and friendly staff!! Luna & Rosie (puppy & cat) are always well looked after and get loads of attention to help keep them calm and relaxed.
Fantastic experience: Never had an issue always happy to help and my dog loves em
Fantastic experience: All staff are extremely helpful and friendly and make you and your pet feel at ease
Fantastic experience: The staff are amazing, especially the head nurse Kirsty, she goes above and beyond for pets and there owners. She's a credit to Vets4Pets. Thank you x
Negative experience: Awful awful vets. Took my cat there who was very unwell, cost me £600 to have him put on a drip for half a day, a blood test and some home medicine. Much better they said, he had an infection. 6 weeks later I took him elsewhere as he had gone down hill again, they were competent. They scanned him and within an hour saw he had a tumour so large he only had around 10% of available lung space, we had him put to sleep that night. They couldn’t believe this had not only been missed a month previously, but not even investigated properly. Horrendous experience no doubt for a very ill cat to go through unnecessary suffering and pure incompetence on the part of this lot. Before I made a complaint I asked for a nurse the re summarise their diagnosis of my cat, they were to busy to speak to me but via the girl (who was actually very helpful) on reception they said to tell me it was a small virus or infection. In the real world it was a tumour bigger than my hand. Please be warned, they are more interested in making money than they are in caring for your animal. Either that or they are just incompetent. 1 star flatters this shambles.
Fantastic experience: Nice and clean .you can take your dogs in and it's well stocked with products
Fantastic experience: I only purchased items in shop but very good choice
Negative experience: I go to this shop a couple of times a month, but recently, the fish section has been so disappointing. The last visit was empty tanks, tank under treatment, and very little choice to choose from.
Positive experience: Didn't use them , but told that they are good
Positive experience: If need anything for your pets they have it .Great
Fantastic experience: Lovely vet who put both me and my dog at ease
Fantastic experience: Very friendly service and a terrific range of products and services
Positive experience: Friendly polite staff with things to spare for you to ask questions. Knowledgeable and helpful.
Fantastic experience: Helpful staff, worth a visit if you have a pet or thinking of getting one.
Fantastic experience: Take good care of our rabbits over the years and were polite, friendly and respectful when we had to have one put to sleep last weekend.
Positive experience: Vets4pets has wonderful staff. They have been amazing with my dog. Odie managed to eat half a pack on munchies so I rang up and they said to get there ASAP to make him throw it up. They did say the wrong price on the phone due to some details being outdated. They kept mentioning how he still wanted attention even though the chocolate was leaving his system. Once again absolutely amazing staff.
Fantastic experience: Appointment was on time. Receptionist was friendly and polite. The vet explained what would be the best course of action and gave us a break down of what the cost would be. Unfortunately the price was a fair bit higher than the quote but when I questioned it I had it all explained and I was happy with that. Over all this practice have always been friendly professional and always very welcoming and always seem like they love our pets like their own.
Fantastic experience: Helpful and friendly staff. Respectful of both Pet and Owner.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly vet. Took time to explain options regarding my cats needs te flee treatment and teeth problems. Made a fuss of my pet. Excellent service.
Fantastic experience: Great staff, lovely vets my pets actually look forward to going
Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff also clean and tidy
Fantastic experience: Great store and great staff. They are quite pricey but convenient and have a good range.
Positive experience: Good shopping experience, wide variety of stock.
Fantastic experience: Staff so help full and point you in the right places for what you need thank you
Fantastic experience: we took beau our puppy for his chip and also for the vet to look at his eyes . Beau was then diagnosed with puppy strangles . everything was explained really well . the receptionist was very good with my hubby as we was both upset .
Fantastic experience: My kitten got neutered today, everything went well, happy.
Negative experience: We have always trusted Vets for pets with all of our dogs in the past, until recently. Our poor dog Ellie had finally succumbed to old age and her back end was going so we did the humane thing and sent her on way to Rainbow Bridge. A member of staff came in and discussed the various prices of cremation, I was told it would be £100 including a paw print, after a phone call asking us to pay by card because they could not accept the cheque we had sent. I was told that they did not have Ellie's paw print basically because someone had forgotten and the actual price was £147+ the receptionist offered a apology this has as caused further distress to my disabled wife, in the past they have been amazing and gone above and beyond. Now it's undone all of that trust and kindness.
Fantastic experience: Only visited pets at home for pet supplies and advice on my pets found the staff approachable and knowledgeable giving me the advice I needed to make a purchase.
Fantastic experience: Lovely receptionist. The vet was friendly and knowledgeable and was lovely to my cat. Very nice caring n professional.
Fantastic experience: Wont go anywhere else! Started coming with my rabbits in June last year, and even though I've moved I'd still much rather make the 30 minute journey, had one of my buns neutered in November here who treated him lovely, my adopted dog was in recently with his teeth (which now look lovely and white, and no more death breath after teeth removal!) and so was my other bun for her spaying a couple of days ago, the staff have been MORE than helpful and kind in answering all of my questions and even helping when I got very concerned about my buns recovery. Katie, especially has been so wonderful, such a lovely person with a genuine love for the animals she sees. Thank you all so much for looking after my beloved fur family!
Fantastic experience: Take my dog to groom room to have her nails clipped. Shes a nervous little girl and they are really good with her
Fantastic experience: Thay are very polite and can not do enough for your animals well done vets 4 pets x
Negative experience: Poor value for money V4Pets Care Plan Staff are also rude and have no customer service skills Have to phone multiple times to chase where treatments are as they fail to deliver then get annoyed with you and are rude when you complain the service is rubbish Also most of the time they do not carryout services (benefits) you are paying them for even when you have specifically requested them at appointment booking times Keep you waiting long periods of time without apology and when you point out they are not sticking to appoint times you are told tuff - ok but when you have a nervous pet that hates traveling you don't want to be sat around waiting when you have an appointment time they should stick to it Sure emergencies come up for not every single visit! Its not like I am paying them for the server - oh wait I was paying for the service Good riddance to a rubbish product and awful branch of Vets4Pets Would never use them again!
Positive experience: Long waiting time to be seen. Asked and paid for claw clipping.... Was not done. Tried to sell other treatments that were not necessary
Fantastic experience: Great shop for all things pet related.
Fantastic experience: Took my dog for nails cutting and they were fantastic with him. He normally hated it but they made him feel calm and relaxed
Fantastic experience: My dog was like a kid in a sweet shop. It's nice to be able to take your dog in a shop.
Fantastic experience: No waiting list. Rang to enquire and was told can ring nearer time we want to go.
Fantastic experience: took dog for full groom did a good job as requested and price was fair
Positive experience: The shop is big, smell's really nice as you enter with the perfumes. The sale's lady that served me was very nice and really friendly.
Fantastic experience: Staff are very helpful. There products are very good quality.
Fantastic experience: Very freindly and helpful staff thank you
Fantastic experience: I cannot thank the vet I saw on Saturday enough! I took my 18 year old cat in expecting to have him put to sleep he was so poorly. The vet gave him antibiotics and pain relief and within 2 hours he's up eating and drinking again. We may be on borrowed time but I am eternally grateful he gave him so much relief, and us more time. Thank you so very much
Fantastic experience: Great for a one stop shop for all pet supplies. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Fantastic experience: Helpful staff as always, unfortunately not many furry creatures to look at this visit.
Fantastic experience: Polite, helpful staff. Answered questions and gave relevant, helpful advice.
Positive experience: Decent stock but limited staff knowledge
Fantastic experience: Went to the aquatic section. Only one young woman working there but she immediately came to assist me. Was very informative and helpful. Well impressed!
Negative experience: For a large store it had bare shelves and stock shortages. Too busy filling the shelves with Christmas stock.
Fantastic experience: Excellent staff who allowed me time with the rescue dog I was collecting, they were very supportive and helpful and seemed to really care about their job which is excellent!
