Well after a couple of weeks of visiting with our poorly cat and having to say goodbye to him today . These have been fantastic from start to sad finish. Fantastic experience: I could not recommend Alan and his reception team any higher than the absolute best. The receptionist was professional helpful and sympathetic. I was looking after my friends cat while she was on holiday and then discovered blood in the litter tray this morning. I was devastated and didn’t know what to do. Alan saw us and treated the cat and she is making amazing progress within a few hours. He has been our family vet for years and has looked after all of our pets. He is truly an animal person and will only do his very best. The two receptionists were lovely and helpful.

Negative experience: Trusted Alan with my Dog (3 year old Pomeranian) he said he had a sore throat!!! He was extremely dismissive and told us he would be fine ( his gums where white, his tongue blue) I took him straight to the emergency vet for a second opinion. He DIED an hour later. We was told in no uncertain terms. If he had have been given a THOROUGH examination he would have known he had anaphylaxis and with treatment would’ve made a full recovery. Alan is Disgusting, dismissive and incompetent with devastating consequences. It’s a numbers game for him. Get them in get them out and handover the £30 for 3 min work. AVOID at all costs if you want to keep your pet alive!!!!

Negative experience: I took my dog into this vets as I thought he was choking. Obviously I ran in with him and we were greeted by the receptionist that acted like I was bothering them. They then proceeded to look up my name as we have had our dogs registered with them for a year. They couldn’t find my account with them so the tried to make a new one (whilst my dog was wheezing and he was turning blue in my arms) After 10 minutes I was finally seen, only to have the vet continue to look for my account, when he finally found it another 10 minutes later. He finally looked at him for maybe 2 minutes and told me he just has a sore throat. He charged me £32. About an hour after leaving my dog went floppy and we took him to another vets and he has had to be intubated. The vet at beech house did not care, had no compassion and clearly if we had taken him to the second vets in the first place our dog wouldn’t be this sick. I want a refund and I want people to know that you cannot trust this vet. Vile experience.

Fantastic experience: Had our family spaniel at BH for 6 years, only visited a few times thankfully. However Alan is what every vet should be like, has done best for our family. We Put our dog down today and couldn't be more grateful for what Alan has done for us over the years. Negative experience: I rang to say my cat had been poorly for a week and half. The receptionist said they weren't taking on new referrals and I had to go else where. Surely if an animal is poorly, a vet would put the priority of their welfare at the forefront of what they do. I have never rang a vet and had such negative comments. She wasn't bothered about suggesting other places. I had to actively ask. She just said they aren't taking on referrals and I had to go else where.

Fantastic experience: Alan has been our family vet for the best part of 25 years. He always does a great job, and I recommend him to everyone who needs a vet.

Fantastic experience: Alan at Beech House Veterinary was recommended to me by a close friend who has took their dogs to him for over 25 years and implicitly trusts him. They told me they wouldn’t use another vet as he is 1 in a million - not only as a vet, but as a human being. I now totally agree. I had already taken my dog to 2 different vets and both had misdiagnosed her and I was at my wits end. Alan did research prior to me even attending the appointment (this was above and beyond what any other vet had done) he came up with a possible diagnosis and helped with a referral to a specialist to confirm his suspicions, she has since had an MRI scan and it has been confirmed she has a very rare brain tumour. Alan was correct. From significant experience with vets over the years, I can also say with certainty that Alan is not motivated by money in the slightest. His prices are exceptionally fare, another reason to use his practice. Not only though is Alan an excellent vet, he is a genuine lover of all animals and one of those rare few people you come across that restore your faith in humanity. He has dedicated his life to helping animals both in a professional and personal capacity. If only there was a lot more Alan’s in the world.

Fantastic experience: Allan loves animals, he dedicates his life to helping all creatures great and small. In the 30 years IV been going to him he never seems to go on holiday or find time for him self. He's one in a billion.

Fantastic experience: I got home last night from work and noticed my cat, Leo had eaten the Christmas lights. I called and was told to bring him straight down. I brought him down at 6.30pm and the vets were due to close at 7pm. Alan immediately looked at him and told me he needed to give him an xray and told me he’d update me at 7.30pm. Alan called and then advised he needed to have surgery so would be keeping him in. Just before 10pm Alan called me to tell me the surgery was a success. Before 8am this morning, he also text me to tell me Leo was comfortable and would be ready to collect later today. Upon collecting, Alan and his team put my mind at ease and were ever so caring, patient and understanding. I am so grateful to Alan as he gave up his Friday night and kept me updated throughout. I knew Leo was in safe hands with Alan. Thank you so much again for your care and attention.

We have used this practice for decades and can not fault how fantastic the care and service we have received over the years is (through sad times and happier ones). Alan is truly dedicated to the profession and a wonderful vet. In fact, all the staff there are top notch. Really reasonably priced too which isn't something which can oft be said.

Negative experience: Was recommended to this vet though a charity to get my cats snipped. Was given back my cats dripping in the own urine. Vet was very rude when saying bye to my cats and laughed at me.

Fantastic experience: Alan has cared for my nearly 9 year old chocolate lab scoobs for a few years now after a recommendation from a friend. I took him every month or so to have his anal glands expressed as he had an issue with them. Around a year ago on a routine appointment for this issue Alan noticed a lump in his anal gland and must have known that it was serious from his experience. He acted really quickly and removed the whole gland immediately and after testing it was discovered it was in fact a really aggressive form of cancer but because he caught it quickly and removed the whole gland it hadn’t spread. A year later and my scoobs has check ups every few weeks and he’s been fine but I don’t doubt that had Alan not acted so quickly and known that the lump was something serious and had it removed straight away rather than just testing it first then my scoobs probably wouldn’t be here today. Thanks so much for your quick reaction and your continued care that keeps my beloved boy healthy with the regular check ups you do. I wouldn’t trust the care of him with anyone else! Can’t recommend Alan enough x

Negative experience: Trusted Alan as my vet for 10 years. Then he speyed my baby girl Pepper and she wasn't right when she came home, I returned 3 times to be dismissed every time. He finally took her back in 4 days after the operation and she died on her OWN in his surgery. If I can EVER pay him back for this.........ONE DAY. Heart still broken and always will be.

Positive experience: We have been with Beech house about 30 years .We have always been pleased with the service .Alan is Brill . I'm disgruntled because my husband s mind is deterating (he's 74) Hes a little slower on the phone . The assistant was very sharp with him telling him she had lots of calls waiting and to basically "hurry up " . We have spent a lot of money there over the years at this vet . I feel she is a new assistant . I think maybe a little understanding should be inserted into this youthful female . I'm annoyed Elaine Ward

Fantastic experience: Sadly we had to have our dog Milo put to sleep on Friday evening, very suddenly. We wanted to do this at home so that he could be with us after phoning every vet we could think of Alan was the only one who agreed to come out enabling us to bring Milo home from our vets. Alan also arranged the cremation late on Friday evening for the next day meaning we didn't have to go through the process at an awful time. We received a condolence card from Alan and his team on Sunday morning which was very touching. Milo was so peaceful and calm when we brought him home and then it was just like he fell asleep. We can't thank Alan enough for enabling us to say goodbye properly at home.

Fantastic experience: Alan is an absolutely 1st class vet he puts your pet first I took tilly ann a couple of weeks ago she was really ill it was a tooth abscess that had burst through into her left eye but no more to do he was on the ball with her after an operation and in no time tilly ann was a different dog. She engages more with her sister now and wants to play more it's like I've got a new dog back I really can't thank the team enough

Positive experience: Very busy, very small veterinary clinic. Friendly, informative staff on reception. Could do with a shelving unit to put cat boxes on so they can be away from dogs on the floor, although not sure where they'd put it to be fair. Vet saw us swiftly but not one for a friendly chat but maybe this was because they were so busy! Think I'll probably go to our regular vets in future.

Negative experience: Taken me a while to write this review. My experience was 2 years ago. Took my dog who had a couple of seizures to see Alan.we were registered here with 2 dogs and 2 cats. At my appointment Alan refused to look at my dog after I gave him her vaccine card. She had been vaccinated elsewhere at her annual booster so he told me very abruptly to take her there! I said that she had never been ill before and that the vaccine was a discounted offer we had purchased at that time. Alan was not going to treat my dog, he turned his back on us and told me to leave!! Absolutely disgusting…I have now found a lovely vet for all my animals. Avoid this horrible man!!
