Sheffield (Birley Moor) Vets4Pets: Reviews
Negative experience: Awful experience from some of the staff here. I’ve come across 1 vet who genuinely seems to care about animals, the rest, I wouldn’t entrust near my cat again. For context, I booked in to get my cat spayed with them and I was provided with a piece of paper of a price list for what I assumed was extra for my cat’s recovery. First time owning a pet so I’m not very knowledgable in terms of what vets provide during and after the procedure but assumed all necessities as in, anything my cat needs in order to successfully come out healthy after the procedure would be provided. Almost 0 advice was provided before, during but especially after the procedure. After taking my cat home, she was visibly in so much pain so myself and my partner went back and forth to the vets to find any type of relief we can provide to my cat and found out after our 3rd visit from taking my cat home, someone should have advised us to buy pain killers for my cat! This wasn’t mentioned at all at any point before, during or after the procedure and instead the woman sat in reception on my 2nd visit called my cat “sassy” as if to say she’s just in a mood and not in pain! I have also come across other customers of this vet who had a similar experience with unprofessional workers and 0 empathy for their pets. The guy was having to put his dog down and the person behind the desk was so cold towards him! Key takeaway from my experience - my sister also has a cat and goes to a different vets4pets as she lives in London. She has 0 complaints and was provided with pain killers for her cat for free after being spayed. So it seems, it depends on the branch. But also, will never step foot here again.
Negative experience: Booked an appointment today and was told 2:30.Arrived as always 15 minutes early.ignored for over 5 minutes while two receptionist dealt with a new registering. Then shouted across the surgery…sorry are you waiting? I said yes our appointment is at 2:30…reply was no it was 2pm! Oh I was definitely told 2:30? Reply we can’t see you till 4pm or Monday now.Ive sat there many a time 30 minutes past our appointment, disappointed
Positive experience: Easy to get hold of, Staff are brill and really take care of you and your pet
Fantastic experience: Great experience for Mr.D'Arcy's first pup appointment
Negative experience: I took a ferrel cat here for treatment about 9 years ago and they extracted his teeth due to stomatitis which was not diagnosed by them, they just said his teeth were dirty and grimey. I paid them around £500.00 for the extractions and had a voucher from Cats Protection so I also had him neutered and then took him to the Pdsa as he wasn't getting better. They found that he had stomatitus and that his roots were left in, meaning that they at Vets4pets Birleymoor hadn't extracted the teeth correctly meaning that the ferral cat that I had entrusted into their care was left in pain! And the poor cat had to go through another op again to extract the roots. And I paid privately for this!? And looking at their website now of their staffs pretty pictures of them holding their pretty little pets makes me so angry because I remember how they couldn't give a damn about a ferrel, a ferrel I paid them to treat thinking I was getting the best care for him. A ferral that suffered due to their incompetence! A ferral they didn't give a damn about, a ferral that their nurses didn't have the expertise to handle. A ferrel named Pheonix that they left in pain because they didn't remove his teeth and roots correctly! Look at their pretty pictures of their staff with their pretty pets. It's not reality! Just their fairytale not reality! The reality is that they want to attract more business by appearing kind! Well the state that they left Pheonix in was not kind! He has gone to heaven now but at least he was loved by me . Pictures attached are of Pheonix looking very tame and happy. It took me 2 years to get him to that! And if you look closely he is wearing a harness and leash, not that he needed it because he never wanted to go outside alone again! And consider this, they haven't even reacted to this post with either an apology or a query? That to me speaks volumes about who they are!
Negative experience: Absolutely shocking wrongly diagnosed my dog 3 times. Ended up at another vets where we had to put my dog to sleep. I actually believe they Killed my dog. All they think about is money!!! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!
Positive experience: This vets is ok but there are better vets to go to where staff are more friendly and prices are more reasonable
Fantastic experience: I recently arrived home to discover an unwell pigeon laid on my doorstep. I rang Birley Moor Vets to see if they could offer advice on what to do as they are local to me. They advised that if we brought the pigeon in, they would do their best to help. They kept us updated on the pigeons progress and while he sadly died, I am very grateful that he died peacefully with the dedicated staff at Birley Moor Vets4Pets rather than on the street. They provide a great service with compassion.
Fantastic experience: Fast registration, got an appointment within a day and the staff were lovely. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Staff have been so good since the operation, kept us informed and gave us plenty of advice. highly recommend
Positive experience: Staff are polite and helpful and have an impressive WPM! Waiting area could be bigger. The veterinary nurses are exceptional compassionate. They light a candle on reception if someone is having a pet put to sleep
Fantastic experience: Thankyou to Tom for being so gentle and kind with my Clyde and making him better. I cant recommend this vets enough wev fetched our dogs over the years and Clyde is my cockatiel every heart wrenching time has been put at ease with the loving nature of the staff. Thankyou so much xx
Positive experience: Generally very good vets but when THEY get a recurring prescription wrong and you get in touch to order the same they will question why the drugs have finished early and basically accuse you of overdosing your pet
Fantastic experience: Always very helpful and very good with my pets
Fantastic experience: absolutely fantastic service.. lovely kind vets very knowledgeable and understanding reception staff very polite and friendly.. best vets I've took my cats too
Fantastic experience: Very friendly and helpful staff, very fair prices
Negative experience: Elderly hamster, massive tumour under his chest, could barely eat/move, seemed close to death, thought the humane thing to do would be to have put him down so as not to prolong his suffering, sent photos prior to phone consultation, became evident in our conversation that they hadn't looked at them for the consult, was told "Well you wouldn't put your Grandma down would you?", was advised it sounded like a tumour, he wouldn't survive surgery, being old and a small animal, despite this, to try some antibiotics and other medicine. It felt like profit was going before welfare. Even a veterinary friend (who lived in another city hence not going to her) was in disbelief. As expected the medicine didn't work and he had a very drawn out passing. Still makes me incredulous now about the Grandma comment.
Negative experience: I took my kitten for neutering to this practise and experience was overwhelming. I left kitten at vets in the morning on the date planed, but 5 min after I left, they called me and said to come back and take kitten home as he is not ready for surgery, (testicles haven been descended yet). Told me to come back after 4 weeks. After 4 weeks I decided to go to another vet, as I didn't like the atmosphere in this practise. I was in schock when I been told by new vet that kitten is acctualy a girl!!! I know that people who don't know much about it (like me) do make mistakes, but I didn't expect that from vet, who supposed to know these things. I made good decision not to go back there, wasted 4 weeks, and the surgery could be done by now. Reception staff was kind of rude, only the nurse who took kitten in was nice and friendly. Won't go back there for sure.
Fantastic experience: All the staff are fantastic. Really friendly
Fantastic experience: Very helpful and supportive if a little costly.
Fantastic experience: Excellent staff at birley moor kind and understanding Thankyou
Fantastic experience: Good care , helping staff , can get appointments easily , there is limited parking spaces i can't complain about it or anthing , their products for flea and protection are amazing
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and a calm atmosphere for my pet as she's very stressed and anxious dog
Fantastic experience: Wouldn't take my dog anywhere else. The team are friendly knowledgeable and really care.
Fantastic experience: Whilst acknowledging vets don't always get good press at the moment, I have to say the kindness shown to me when I had to take my beloved dog George to be put to sleep was excellent. We were straightaway taken to a separate room which was thoughtful as we were very upset. The vet was so kind as we're the receptionists. Thank you also for the card and forget me not seeds. Janice Hartley.
Positive experience: Appointment time not adhered to. Over 20 minutes delay - stresses out my cat having to spend unnecessary excess time in his carrier. But excellent care and understanding by the vet
Fantastic experience: Took care of my daughters rabbit. Friendly staff. Will definitely use again.
Fantastic experience: Great service, and staff have a lovely compassion for the animals
Fantastic experience: Our cat Jasmine had an accident in the evening of 2nd Jan and broke her leg. We went to the emergency vet that night and then called Vets4pets at Birley Moor, Sheffield next day morning. She was quickly seen by vets and nurses and the surgeon even managed to perform the surgery in the same day! She is now in the recovery stage. I was deeply upset when the accident happened but all the staffs (receptionists, nurses, vets and surgeon) are so helpful and professional. I honestly can not wish for anything better. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Been great with my little kitten. Friendly staff.
Positive experience: Great vets sorted my dog same day extremely happy about that ,the price of medication very overpriced in my opinion same meds online over £40 cheaper would I go again yes for the health of my dog I would. Would I pay for non urgent meds no id order online I know it's not just this vets they all seem to be very expensive.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing staff there for us as well as the pet just expensive
Fantastic experience: Always the best vets, very kind and understanding. They truly love their clients
Positive experience: This place has lost it's genial feel. The staff now don't make a fuss of our dogs when they come in. Our dogs used to run in and get on the scales as they knew they would be rewarded with a treat from the lovely staff. The staff never do this now. I used to feel valued and cared about but all that has gone. Shame really. One of the vet nurses recently nearly gave my dog medication that wasn't due. I found this worrying. Luckily on the day it was going to be administered they had run out of stock. I thought that was bad, as they knew we had an appt for it. I asked why they hadn't rung me to say they hadn't got it. They said it's my responsibility to make sure it's in stock? I said can't you xheck the day before you have what you need for the next days clients, no way of doing this they said I'm glad on this occasion it was out of stock, the nurse only rang the next day to say it wasn't needed. Don't like to think my puppy would have had it. Concerning.
Fantastic experience: They made the appointment as quick as could be whilst delivering top care
Negative experience: My dog had a lump on his neck, he was wrongly diagnosed and we were only given 5 antibiotics and a 10 ml bottle of pain relief for him as he was in excruciating pain and couldn't settle. We were told to come back 5 days later, and we were charged £87.65. He told us our dog would need surgery. We went back and saw a totally different vet who diagnosed him differently but still used the same medication and charged us another £65.71 for the 3 minutes we were seen. I found the whole experience disgusting. It seems that all they are interested in is making money out of distressed owners.
Positive experience: Staff very busy but was stood at reception for several minutes before being acknowledged
Fantastic experience: Took our kitten to be spayed, everything explained clearly with care and consideration. All questions answered confidently.
Fantastic experience: Super lovely vets, always make our animals feel welcome and safe.
Fantastic experience: Such an awful experience brought us to the Vets, but Karol and the Vet team (along with the out of hours people at VetsNow) did an excellent job to care for our beloved pet and make their stay as comfortable as possible. Thank you all.
Fantastic experience: Amazing staff who always put your pet first
Fantastic experience: Great experience, wonderful vet. I'll be moving my other dog over as well. Price was very reasonable
Fantastic experience: Always happy when I have to bring my pet, all staff are friendly, polite and professional. Always put my pet's needs first, would recommend this practice to anyone
Negative experience: Website states dental X-ray however staff say they don’t have one
Fantastic experience: Everything was explained to me a couple of weeks before my dogs operation and price given, and again when my dog was took in on the day of her operation. The staff made me feel at ease and also made my dog feel at ease knowing she was nervous around new surroundings and people. The nurse took her time with wicket when I had to leave and nothing was too much. They cared for her immensely and I'm grateful. The same with the post op. The nurse was very attentive and reassuring to my dog and took everything at my dogs pace and it made my dog less nervous . I'm thankful for that
Fantastic experience: Very friendly Very knowledgeable Given a range or options for treatment
Fantastic experience: The best vet I've used, very helpful and go above expectations. They really helped my cat with a long term problem getting cystitis.
Fantastic experience: When I rang to make the appointment (on the day) and ask a couple of questions, the receptionist was polite, knowledgable and friendly and on my arrival was lovely with my dog. I was impressed with the way one of the receptionists dealt with an obviously unreasonable customer on the telephone while I was there, and also with the support the other receptionist gave her colleague on both a personal and professional level. They also dealt excellently with an emergency when an injured dog was brought in unexpectedly. My consultation with the vet was thorough, I felt that I was listened to to with respect and consideration and I was involved in the decision made regarding treatment. The care and concern for my pet could not be faulted. The pricing was explained before medication was dispensed quickly with a clear explanation for it's use. As always Daisy, my dog, loved her visit, her liver paste treat and the care given to her despite not being well and showed no hurry to leave the surgery - a sure sign that she too was happy with her treatment.
Fantastic experience: Took my young dog as an emergency on Saturday afternoon following an accident. We are not registered here but it was the only vet open at 3pm on Saturday afternoon. They managed to get our dog looked at very quickly even though they were fully booked. They administered some emergency treatment to get her through the weekend and booked her in for surgery first thing on Monday morning. The care they took made an extremely stressful time far easier.
Fantastic experience: So helpful and friendly, they love to get to know your pets on a personal level, would recommend to anyone
Fantastic experience: All the staff were polite friendly and helpful they care a lot about the pets and their welfare as well as their health also they take care to explain any questions or concerns that I have
Fantastic experience: Rachel, the vet, welcomed Yogi. Understood his condition. Dealt with us both in a friendly and professional manner.
Fantastic experience: We have used Vets4Pets as our first choice ever since we purchased Bailey as a puppy. I would not even consider using any other Vets as we have always been totally satisfied with every aspect of treatment provided, and have only recently recommended them to a friend who was looking for a local vet.
Fantastic experience: They are always friendly and professional and helpful with all our needs
Fantastic experience: Booked an appointment for Hamish my Jack Russell and the treatment and care given by Tom and his staff was second to none putting Hamish at ease straightaway, animal care and kindness is at the forefront of Vets for Pets attitudes for service.
Fantastic experience: Everyone was amazing. From seeing my pet quickly to explaining everything and operating quickly to helping with insurance forms!
Positive experience: Was good with our pups care but after signing upto a pet plan after cancelling they kept calling and sending letters for money, they was taking money out bank and not giving us our products, so we cancelled.
Fantastic experience: They got me early appointments vets are brilliant
Fantastic experience: The vet was very calm with my cat and with me as well. She showed me how to clip my cat's claws( in fact she did all of them) and explained and showed how to apply the medicated gel in my cat's eye.
Fantastic experience: Lovely staff, vet took his time to explain things clearly to me and guide me in the right direction. My cat is slightly overweight but he didn’t make me feel guilty, he offered me solutions and gave me ideas on how to work towards getting my cat at a healthier weight. I have an appointment for my other cat this week. I actually don’t dread taking them to the vet because I am always made to feel comfortable and so are my beautiful babies.
Fantastic experience: Staff were wonderful the receptionist got a emergency appointment booked for my cat the vet was wonderful explained everything in detail was very carering my cat was very calm and settled while i was there. Would highly recommend one very happy lively kitty once again and one very happy owner. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: My daughter takes her two cat's there. She always seems satisfied with the treatment and staff.
Positive experience: Amazing reception staff, vets and vet nurses. They only list a point because vets are so ridiculously expensive but that's all of them not just this one. Highly recommend
Fantastic experience: Excellent customer service. Very friendly, professional and helpful staff
Fantastic experience: The reception staff was happy to help me with all my questions I had.The nurse we met was also fab with us and she explained everything to us.Would recommended these vet to anyone
Fantastic experience: Best vets ever!! The staff are really nice and always take good of my loved ones.
Fantastic experience: Wouldn't dream of taking my pups anywhere else. Fabulous team, from vets to reception - the care they give the pets is second to none. The surgery itself is immaculate too. I have been going since it first opened and was the best move I made.
Fantastic experience: My dog had got pynometra and my vet wouldn't see her vets 4 pets acted immediately and saved my little fur babys life ❤ there after care is excellent!
Fantastic experience: All straightforward; the staff and vets were friendly and helpful!
Fantastic experience: I was extremely worried about my dogs health and to be honest I thought I was going to loose her! She was taken in for blood tests and scan & I received a call from the vet advising they were going ahead with surgery. I was kept informed along the way & could pick up our dog at 5pm.to bring her home. Poppy is now at home recovering and we are extremely happy and grateful to have her home ! Hopefully she will soon get over her ordeal and be back to normal!
Fantastic experience: I would just like to thank everyone at Vets4Pets for looking after me and my beloved dog Curly who sadly I had to have put to sleep on the 13/8/22. Special thanks go to Rachel who was the vet that Saturday morning who made the whole process so much easier as I was so upset.also thankyou for the card and Forget me not seeds which I will be planting soon, love to you all Jean xx

Fantastic experience: The ladies that work there are always friendly and warming, can't say a bad word about them.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff and treated my cat with lots of love. Even called me back after a couple of weeks to check if everything is okay.
Fantastic experience: Lovely staff who make my dog comfortable and welcome. Can't recommend them more
Fantastic experience: The vet was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Everyone was friendly and welcoming
Fantastic experience: Mabel had a number of complications after her surgery which was very worrying but every time I rang up with a question it was always answered and the availability of emergency appointments was very good. The staff were always welcoming and it never seemed too much of a hassle every time I went in. I visited 8 times in 2 weeks due to the complications and the service was great every time!!
Fantastic experience: The vet was very good with ebby has she was very unsure with it been her first time in the vet he took his time to get to know ebby and gain her friendship, ( well for a little bit anyway) so he could try to check over before her booster, he all so explain everything very well, thank you felt very comfortable with my appointment
Fantastic experience: Really welcoming practice. Clean. Staff very attentive. Very satisfied with taking my pet . Registered with them.
Fantastic experience: I love the fact I never have to wait at the appointment. My last vets were late for every appointment I went to. The vet was great, very friendly and helpful.
Fantastic experience: Staff always friendly and helpful and seem interested in your pet
Fantastic experience: Really good vets! Always so friendly and knowledgeable when we unfortunately have to take either of our 2 cats here
Fantastic experience: recently neutered my rescue dog marley excellent customer service throughout
Fantastic experience: Lovely vet , made a fuss of my two cats and was very patient with them
Fantastic experience: Excellent care and concern for our elderly cat. Explaining clearly and reassuringly about her arthritis and pain relief medication we already have.
Fantastic experience: Staff are always friendly and you can tell that they really love animals. The practice always looks clean and tidy.
Fantastic experience: Staff lovely my dog came home pain free and is a good mood, I just wish they did payment plans for people who struggle with the pets health Bill's that's my only flaw but all in all care wise absolutely perfect
Fantastic experience: It was our first visit and the whole experience was very pleasant. I would recommend this branch. Glad to say my dog is fit and healthy.
Fantastic experience: My wife took the family cat to them. Very happy with the advice received and the quality of service too. We highly recommend this practice
Negative experience: Sad to say our most recent experience wasnt anything like it has been in the past, this practice really does seem to have gone downhill, the vet we saw whilst pleasant enough was very difficult to understand and thought our cat was in for a completely different matter than what she had come in for.
Fantastic experience: The vet explained all options that was available to help treat Shadow. She was also very supportive in suggesting a Pre authorisation to Petplan for help with payment to identify what is causing Shadows skin problems.
Fantastic experience: friendly, prompt vet, explained everything well, good service
Negative experience: Complete shambles still demanding masks to be worn because its a medical place, bet this wasn't a concern pro covid. They need to wake up a bit and realise plan B is over and exemptions are still valid. No legal reason to not let me.
Fantastic experience: Excellent staff The nurse was amazing and went above and beyond would highly recommend the clinic
Positive experience: I always loved this place and the staff, i have been going for 6 years but the last op my dog had was forgotten on a follow up review the next visit with another one of mine was refused the meds without payment first (I was at work ) but only a call away as before, no need for rudeness, recently the invoices for treatment and meds have constantly had to be amended to include the discount they offer with the care plan, if you go see the vet with the care plan "free consult" you'll be charged for a follow up appointment for the same issue as it's not classed as a follow up. Moved mine now
Fantastic experience: Great staff, very helpful and friendly and caring towards my puppy
Fantastic experience: Fantastic vets take our new puppy there And was Fantastic when we lost our dog in the lock down
Fantastic experience: The team is amazing . Friendly and caring . They do the best for the Animals and the owners.
Negative experience: Unfortunately my husband was late a bit with our 2 puppies just now the appointment was 9.30 and 9.45 am and they refused to take them or any of them puppy who had appointment from 9.45am! What a shame! 2 weeks ago I was waiting more then 35 mins there to get on my appointment in and wasn’t say a word just waited patiently in the waiting area and outside… meg at this time Very very disappointed now and not satisfied at all. I understand I paid already 2 weeks ago for the vaccination and now u don’t really care coz money has been taken isn’t it but at least u should to let one of my puppy in for her appointment! Shame on you!
