Negative experience: Fine if your pet is healthy, but with my experience when our family dog was in severe pain and dying they would not see her. Their answer was go to the emergency vets.

Fantastic experience: The staff at white cross vets were compassionate and sympathetic while going through the process of laying our Dog to rest, there was no rush while we said our last good by to our fur baby. Vet trips are not cheap but they made the process as fair and user friendly as possible.

Fantastic experience: Visited White Cross Vets in Alvaston, Derby yesterday with my Bichon Frieze and received the care and attention which I have come to expect from the practice which I have been using for my pets for almost 20 years. They are always accomodating, professional, and friendly, although could be a litte cheaper, but unfortunately, that goes with the veterinary profession as a whole.

Negative experience: Told us our pet had a collpased trachea but due to past experiences with whitecross we ended up getting a 2nd opinion from PDSA and was told she had a collapsed lung this whole time. You guys didn't even bother doing an xray but instead wanted £200 just to LOOK at my dog. She ended up passing away on 9th January 2026. Shame on you guys.

Fantastic experience: A great practice. After several issues with our dog, the staff at white cross have not only nursed him back to health, but have also been very patient with him. A young and boisterous Berner is not the easiest patient. You’ve all been so friendly, that despite so many unpleasant appointments in a very short period of time, Atlas is still more than happy to go to the vets.

Fantastic experience: I have always used this vetinary service for about 15 years now. We have the petplan and I wouldn't go anywhere else for my pets because they have everything they need!! The staff are really gentle with your pets and they understand how important they are to us!! They handle with care too. It's not too difficult to get them booked in if they need checking over and they always give the best advice. I wouldn't go anywhere else!!

Negative experience: Absolutely disgusted! Tried making me pay 50 quid to look at my daughter's hamster which would of took 2 minutes so I had an idea was willing to pay a fee but 50 is ridiculous and would rather see you walk out with a poorly animal all for greed. The vetenary was empty and could've helped me out for 10 minutes and call themselves a vets. None of my animals will be going here in the future!

Fantastic experience: All the staff are super helpful and supportive, and the vets are amazing. I genuinely wouldn’t ever go to another vets. The wellness plan is a life saver as well, a monthly plan that covers the cost of all vets visits. Unfortunately we’ve had to use this way more than expected with one of our dogs, but it’s probably saved us thousands of ponds. I can’t recommend white cross in Alvaston highly enough.

Fantastic experience: Exceptional and compassionate service but also very knowledgeable. One of our older cats has been struggling for a year and been prescribed multiple cases of antibiotics & AIs by another vet clinic. WCV immediately identified the issue as a form of asthma. Cat is now happy and doing well with the use of a nebuliser every day. We also had another medical emergency just the other day and we were treated with sympathy and courtesy while turning up out of the blue without appointment. Their cat-friendly waiting area is an absolutely great idea to reduce the stress of visits.

Fantastic experience: Exceptional customer service. After a frantic call to the vets for our poorly cat we were seen straight away. Although the outcome was not good and the worst imaginable ending, our feelings as a family were taken into consideration, the compassion shown could not be faulted from the nurses through to the Vet. Time was given, excellent explanation, but above all the empathy for our situation was above and beyond. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Had to say goodbye to my beloved Smudge recently after a few weeks of exceptional care by the team at White Cross Vets. Whilst the outcome was always inevitable, Smudge had plenty of fusses when he visited and the advice was top notch. Even on the saddest of sad days they were nothing short of professional, caring and just all round brilliant.

Fantastic experience: White Cross vets in Alveston the staff are 100% professional, caring and kind it’s only been a few days since the passing of my beautiful cat Tilly, but I can honestly say they showed so much compassion towards me as I was a total wreck knowing I had to say my last Farewell and send my beautiful Tilly over to rainbow Bridge, so if you’re thinking of using This Veterinary practice I would highly recommend them.

She sat on the floor with her and let her come to her and didn't rush anything, she spent about 15 minutes being patient with her and it was amazing service would highly recommend this vets.

Fantastic experience: We took our dog Lexi because she was very poorly with a womb infection, we were advised that lexi was very likely not to survive and we were given a alternation, we could have her put down or give her some treatment and see if she responds. We opted for the treatment but were told that she may not get better, with the treatment, some antibiotics and Pain relief I went home and nursed her. For the first 2 days it was touch and go but the 3rd day she seemed to pick up, I decided to take her for a walk see if it helps, it did and from then on she has grown from strength to strength. Now 8 days on she is back too her usual lively self. We are so grateful for the help and advice that we got from White Cross Vets, special thanks to Penny for showing so much compassion Colin Bowley

Fantastic experience: Took my baby for a spay using cats protection voucher and felt some embarrassment , but they were so lovely , didn’t make me feel shamed for using the voucher and just wanted the best for my cat. Even gave us an after care package with some gentle tummy food. Great customer service and care for my baby. Will go here again without a doubt

Fantastic experience: I wasn't registered with White Cross but had to call them in an emergency when my own vet was unable/unwilling to help with my dog. They went above and beyond to help and all staff were so caring and compassionate in our hour of need, from the first panicked phone call at 4.30pm, i a,my sons and our dog were treated with such care Sadly, the outcome wasn't a happy one, but the level of care we received was outstanding. I would highly recommend this vets and I thank you all, from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful care we all received yesterday. ❤️

I booked my youngest cat for a spay and microchipping(which was free) and everything was done on time no delays and we got her home on the same day we also got great advice from the veterinarians and nurses that worked there. Fantastic experience: Great service, went in for vaccines but they did a full health check and offered flea/worming if needed, he does need a dental which is quite expensive but providing all the before and after care is worth the money. I would say in general the prices are probably a bit more expensive then some vets but it's well organised, they clearly care for the pets and seem really happy to help which is worth the higher prices when it comes down to ur pet care so I'm happy! They also seem to have a lot services :)

However after the consultation with the nurse, I instantly felt better as every step of the procedure was explained including the cost. When we went to collect her we saw Rob who is so sweet. He explained the best after care for her, again fully putting our minds at rest. A fantastic service from start to finish.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic vet practice. Staff are lovely, it’s clean and tidy. Lots of space in reception to keep pets separate. Good value, and even better value is their “Wellness Plan”. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: I have taken my dog there twice as he kept shaking his head and scratching his ear and they said it was nothing but an allergy to the pollen (hayfever). After about 3 weeks he did not sleep the whole night and was crying every time he scratched his ear or we would touch it, it was then when I took him to a different vet as an emergency and he was shaking his head every 5 minutes and crying non stop and they told me he had a severe inflammation which was becoming an infection and it was so bad, that it was spreading to his eye. I cannot believe the lack of care they had with my dog considering we had set up a pet plan with them and were hoping that they could be our local vet.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service, definitely recommend the wellness plan. This offers me reassurance that I can visit any time, and all vaccines wormer etc is included. Just dropped her off for her mot, including bloods and urine analysis - all included in the price. Penny is also currently attending regularly for weight checks and can have her nail clipped as often as she needs. Plus I get 25% and nhs discount off her vet recommended food. Great service.

Fantastic experience: Super service from the small Saturday team on 01/04/23. Spaniel in jested human blood pressure tablets. Immediately seen by the team, they took advice from animal poisons and after the dog was made to vomit we brought her home. Can report no further symptoms and back to normal. Massive thanks to the three of you who saw the spaniel and us. Brilliant team, great service.

Fantastic experience: Friendly, patient and helpful staff. Lovely welcome and they even have a sectioned off area for cats and they provide blankets to put over the top of the cat carriers. The Vet was super helpful and provided us with all the necessary information and warnings relating to our cats' diet; they have a raw food and hypoallergenic biscuit diet. We are on the complete wellness program and it takes a load off your mind knowing that your pet's flea and worming is covered,checkups are all covered and you even get discounts for stuff in their shop.

Fantastic experience: I have been with White Cross Vets Alvaston for 11 years now and I've always been very satisfied with their service. They were wonderful, when one of my cats was ill and shortly after diagnosis had to PTS (November 2020). I would definitely recommend them.

Fantastic experience: Took my dog to the vet with what I thought was a skin infection, the vet quickly spotted puncture marks as he'd been bitten by something, she recommended a course of treatment. 2 weeks later the infection was all cleared.

You cannot put a price on a family pet so having a place that she can go if needed is reassuring. Negative experience: I am writing this review from my experience with white cross vet Derby branch, my local vet. I came across them with pleasure that they are in my local so I can bring my cat here if I need help. At first visited, seems to be very nice and understanding about cat's situation but all about dental removed. Vet should know better than me that cat's teeth needed to be removed 4-5 teeth and again my cat teeth is not in a good condition as they start to show the bad sign again. January White cross rang to postpone my cat appointment for checking weight loss but no re book for my cat. Until Now, July Monday just pass this week, I brought my cat to see vet because her claw went to paw, weight her and nurse told me that she loss lots of weight. Is this issue needed to be attended urgently? No, next Tuesday is next appointment.Anyway, my cat's Kidney failure is leading the teeth problem, weight loss significantly, constantly diarrhoea, hind legs start wobbling. Surprise that Nurse doesn't seems to interested that its urgent matter.I tried to ring them to get in 3 days in a roll but they wont let me see the vet.All reception said the vet said she need recover from diarrhoea!! Is this a point of view from the Vet?? Reception said I can pick up the probiotic sachet to reduce the diarrhoea. Rubbish suggestion from Vet. No interesting whatsoever. I came home from work and found my cat collapse on the floor and just look at me in my eyes, no power on her, I rang the emergency vet at city gate, brought her there. She is dehydrate, a little kidney left on her, collapse and very weak. This cat need to be put down that night. I was so shock because my cat never show any sign of kidney failure, The vet never told me about the sign of kidney failure. Every time I went in to see vet, they just want to take teeth out. Nothing else!! truly from me. Rotten teeth, weight loss, weak and wobbling at the back legs are sign of kidney failure questions but why vet seems to not point out for 3-4 years has gone with your services. I loss my loving cat. She a fighter cat at heart. Before the vet put sleep, I heard a meowww from the room on my phone.You are not allowed in the hospital ,just sat in the car. I came home with empty basket with broken heart. I am telling you that Its depend on your luck that Who is answering your call that day? Is that person has a good heart ,caring about your issue? How is that person care about your urgent issue on your loving cat? Just like you are playing the gamble on who is answering your call? angel or evil!!

Negative experience: I rang yesterday with a dog in pain and was told the next available appointment was 2 weeks away approx or I could ring in the morning to see if he could be seen. No regard for the animal in pain no other advice given. I went to the emergency vet who needed to use sedation to examine and extract a foreign body from his ear- the vet told me we couldn’t wait despite my dog having eaten due to ‘it would be cruel to leave him in pain’ and yet my usual vet offered no advice no attempt at any triage just ‘ ring back tomorrow’ on the chance I might get him seen, had a similar experience in January also - following episodes of bloody stools - no concern raised …. Poor service and we have been with you for almost six years - I have now switched vets and would NOT recommend

Fantastic experience: Reception area is set up for social distancing and separate areas for cats and dogs. I would highly recommend this vets practice. The vet was excellent at listening to my concerns. She explained treatments well and examined my dog fully. She was also friendly and caring whilst still being professional.

We decided to switch to Whitecross for our new kitten as it’s nearer to our home and we had heard nothing but positive things. We were thoroughly impressed from the initial booking experience to the consultation. Staff were warm and friendly. All staff demonstrate a genuine love of animals which is everything you want. Fantastic experience: My beautiful little rescue puppa Rosie had a dental today and was looked after extremely well. My dog is very nervous and hates being away from me (and who can blame her? ) but she settled well with the lovely Sammi and Robert today. I struggle to trust anyone with my girl, but I felt at ease today knowing the practice were aware of her health issues and were happy to comfort her. The wellness plan works out financially well at this practice and they go the extra mile to ensure animals receive that little bit of extra love and comfort when they need it.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service would recommend to anyone who is in need of help especially at this time, when no one else was willing to help they couldn’t help enough when my puppy passed blood. got a phone appointment straight away and all of the staff I spoke to were lovely managed to run a urine test, weigh and get me medication for him all within the space of a day. Honestly can’t thank everyone here enough!

Positive experience: I have been to this vets practice lots of times with our rabbits and Guinea pigs and would definitely rate it a 5 star. All the staff are really friendly, chat to you about all their animals and genuinely care about all pets. It's a really lovely practice. The best vets I've ever been registered with in fact, in the 30 years I've had pets. I have had to knock a star off this review however, because at today's visit my rabbits were given the wrong vaccination which upset and worried me. The staff member that did it was very apologetic but I dont think this is acceptable and they only realised because I pointed it out.

They have been nothing but so understanding and kind to myself and my animals . So welcoming as soon as you come through the door, staff really take the time to understand you and your pets. Fantastic experience: Had our first visit 2/09/19 with our 15 year old cat Murphy, extremely helpful and friendly staff and the vet was lovely. Kept our cat nice and chilled out - can't believe there is a cat-friendly section. No complaints whatsoever, hoping every check up will be as relaxed and uneventful! 5* He unfortunately fell very ill on 12th September, so I called the 13th September and they got us an 11am appointment same-day! We picked him up at 7pm and they got us a 10am follow up appointment the next day. I can't believe they got us in at such short notice - and we were late to our 10am appointment as I have an escape artist who hid himself away before we set off! They called at 10:10am to make sure everything was okay and we were still coming, understanding and laughing when I explained my cat knew he was going to the vets and id spent the best part of an hour looking for him in the house! Said it was okay for us to still come in and we were seen within the hour despite being over half an hour late!! Exceptional service. Unfortunately Murphy is a grumpy old boy who doesn't think much of vets - but they give five star service and are a very friendly bunch.

Fantastic experience: I have always had animals and nothing is more stressful when they are under the weather. White cross always help, they are so understanding and put our animals first. I strongly believe that they are one of th best vets in derby and genuinely care about the animals they treat. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: My cat Lily fell I'll with suspected cancer or possible serious internal infection with the symptoms pointing to either 8 weeks ago and she recieved first class care from a very professional and highly qualified vet named Claire. Claire's advice and experience gave me confidence and faith in her ability to provide Lily with top quality care and diagnosis. I revisited Whitecross yesterday and specifically requested an appointment with Claire due to her excellent service last time and her knowledge in Lilys potential illness. Again Claire provided me with confidence in her advice and experience. Lily is doing excellent after 2 months of steroids and I'm really happy that her strong wellness is pointing towards a really bad but treatable internal infection, rather than the worse case scenario of terminal lymphoma cancer. A couple more months on the tablets at half the dosage is needed before we will know for sure but the signs are extremely positive. I knew I made the right decision to go back to Whitecross with this issue, as I registered my cat at another vets that were cheaper when I needed to cut down outgoings, but every time I visited them I felt that while they were lovely vets their experience and advice didn't provide me with confidence at all. On the back of this service from whitecross I will definitely only be using them exclusively from now on. In this case you certainly get the quality you pay for and my cat is worth every penny. A big personal thank you to Claire at Whitecross for her professionalism and excellent service. I highly recommend this vets if your currently looking to register your pet somewhere.

My cat Peter had to be put to sleep last week and the support I was shown by the staff was amazing, not oblo that but a few days later I got a beautiful card and forget-me-not seeds to pot as soon as I get his ashes, they are amazing with my dog Alfie too Highly recommended

Positive experience: Forgot the vets name she specializes with reptiles, very nice to my beardi. Even thou he shown his beard for the 1st time Haha. lucky they had a space to see me so soon the waiting room was clean reception staff very helpful and friendly. Thank you also reasonable prices.

Fantastic experience: We visited the practice today,with my cat Tia,who is very nervous, for her senior health check.Staff are always very patient, kind and caring towards her and also very informative.It is a wonderful practice and i would definitely highly recommend it.Thank you to all at Whitecross vets.

Fantastic experience: Contacted the vets today for my bunny, the lady on the phone recognised the urgency of the situation straight away and I was seen to immediately by a friendly and knowledgeable vet. I brought my guinea pig here years ago too and received the same standard of care for my pet then. I highly recommend this vets practice for people with small animals as not all vets are as knowledgeable and on point with smaller animals as this practice is. All of the staff are friendly and welcoming too which is an added bonus!! I am very pleased to have such a great vets so close.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant practice! I am an extremely happy pet owner, my cat Murphy can be anxious in his carrier but the Vets and Nurses here are amazing with him. Wonderfully reassuring with honest advice and bags of experience! I wouldn’t trust any other practice with my boy. White Cross are simply the best.

Fantastic experience: Maggie our Labradoodle ran and banged her foot, which left her with a limp. She was seen by a lovely vet within 45 minutes of ringing them. The vet was very thorough and reassuring. Excellent service.

Fantastic experience: We have been taking our cat Jim here for years, always a brilliant service, helpful and friendly staff. Also brilliant having a separate waiting area and consultation room for cats, makes it a bit less of a stressful experience for both cat and owner!

Fantastic experience: We've always brought Bella here. Her latest visit was being spayed. We felt very sorry for her during recovery but recovered really well. The after care white cross provide is great. While she was under GA they also clipped her nails, cleaned her teeth and also removed some sap that was bedded in her coat from a new shed all included in the price we paid for the op. We've never been disappointed at white cross.
