Negative experience: I am writing this with a broken heart after losing my beloved dog, Bubbles, following her surgery at PDSA New Cross. She had surgery on Monday 22nd and at first seemed to be recovering, but a few days later I became very worried because she didn’t look well. On Saturday, I called the clinic distressed and explained that something felt seriously wrong. Instead of being seen or offered urgent help, I was told to give her more paracetamol because she “might be in a little pain” and to wait until Monday. By Sunday, Bubbles had lost her sight completely. On Monday she was deteriorating rapidly — clearly unwell, distressed, and struggling — yet we were still not offered an emergency appointment. We were told to wait until Tuesday for a phone appointment, which never even happened. On Tuesday evening, Bubbles worsened further and we had to let her go because she was in so much distress. Losing her in this way has been devastating, and I truly feel that our concerns were not taken seriously and that she did not receive the urgent care and compassion she needed. I understand that charities and veterinary services can be busy and under pressure — but when an owner repeatedly phones in fear that their pet is declining, they should be listened to and assessed promptly. I will always wonder whether Bubbles might still be here if help had been offered sooner instead of being told to wait. Based on our experience, I sadly cannot recommend PDSA New Cross. The level of care, urgency, and communication we received in Bubbles’ final days was not what any animal or family deserves. I would strongly advise others to think very carefully before trusting this clinic with their pet’s care. Rest in peace, Bubbles

Fantastic experience: Fantastic service..my dog had IVDD I went down as an emergency. They were brilliant. Thank you

Stephen Duckworth Posted on Google 5 months ago

Fantastic experience: Bit of a Q but comfy seating. Excellent service

Zoe CM Posted on Google 6 months ago

Negative experience: Do not bother calling the emergency line was waiting 45mins after a car accident as was told to call back after 6pm for the emergency line and no answer - had to register elsewhere - any pet/furbaby could die before you actually get any help unless you can drive there presumably. No way in hell will me or my family ever register with this "pet hospital" again if I could no star this place I would.

Fantastic experience: Very helpful and great vets for us on a low income

Khalila Pringle Posted on Google 7 months ago

Fantastic experience: Recently took my cat here as he had lost some weight (we now know it’s hyperthyroidism) the reception staff and vet were lovely and we received his blood test results/medication all within the same week as the initial appointment! Pleased and grateful for the services the PDSA provide as I wouldn’t be able to afford private vet fees!

Fantastic experience: Amazing service, caring and very friendly. My cat was in so much pain, we called these vet and they promptly gave us an appointment on the same.day. then sent us to sidcup vet, due to more check up kept my cat there one night. Took amazing care of him. We appreciate it. My pet did pass away 2 days after, but what new cross pdsa did for him I will always remember, Thank you.

tom mcdowall Posted on Google 8 months ago

Negative experience: My dog was diagnosed with bladder cancer in March and the treatment he’s been given is less than basic the meds they have got him on paracetamol and steroids and that’s what they would treat a dog with an ear infection.it’s unbelievable how that this is all the treatment they have given my dog .with treatment a dog could probably life past a year with non treatment 4/6 months so I don’t give out much hope for my dogs survival rate .

Joanna Posted on Google 9 months ago

Fantastic experience: Thank you a lot for your extra support . My cat is feeling better, and hopefully, I will stay with us for longer. Doctors and staff ara amazing.

Jessie Bowman Posted on Google 10 months ago

Negative experience: My dog is dead. I have spoken to someone two hours ago. They said they would call me back and they are not. I need my dog collected.

Paul Fergusson Posted on Google 10 months ago

Fantastic experience: The staff were very friendly and always polite

Jasmine Nefertiti Posted on Google 11 months ago

Negative experience: Poor experience at New Cross PDSA I got a text saying my cat was ready for collection, so I arrived as quickly as I could and let reception know I was there. I was asked to sit and wait — which felt like forever — but fine. Eventually, I was called in, handed meds and a leaflet… but no cat. Then I was left waiting another 10–15 minutes before the nurse finally brought her out. Why not bring her at the same time? I had another appointment to get to, and the delay was completely unnecessary. When I politely said it would’ve made more sense to bring my cat out with the meds, the nurse got defensive and rude. I was told I was being rude for simply pointing out what should have been basic common sense. I’ve supported this charity for years and paid for my pet’s treatment — and being spoken to like I was a problem was unacceptable.. The nurse I dealt with was an older woman with glasses and dark hair — unfortunately, her attitude was cold, dismissive, and lacked basic professionalism. If you see her, brace yourself.

Michelle Virtue Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: So pleased they saw Kingpin same day. Thank you

Clemon Padley Posted on Google 1 year ago

Positive experience: Took care of my baby girl in the last months of her life. Unfortunately had to euthanize her on our last visit as she had really gone down hill. The service they provide is invaluable to those on low incomes and/or unemployed. Thank You PDSA for the wonderful service you provide. I miss my Bella so much.

Lucy Spacey Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: My dog of 15 years collapsed. They gave me an emergency appointment within the hour. They were thoroughly lovely. Unfortunately she had to be put down. The vets were so supportive and caring. It meant a lot.

Luke Francis Posted on Google 1 year ago

Positive experience: A joke ,book appointment waiting hrs, phone is on and off, don't look organised, poor staff/ owners that care for animals but not enough help from our government really needs supporting

Diana Higgins Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Excellent service staff and pet care. May I request all visitors clean up after your pets who accidentally deficat in the waiting area and avoid putting their sick pets on the seats.

Lynne Olding Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: What lovely people, our visit was stress free, thanks so much x

Winifer Rodrigues Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Been trying to get in contact with PDSA New Cross for over a month, every time me or my wife tries to call is just an automated message with a bunch of options and then hangs up. Did the request online they call once phone ring once not even got a chance to pick up the call, and then they send an email and a message, saying they have tried to contact you but not luck and blah blah blah. What a waste of time.

jenny picco Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Amazing place with the most amazing staff! Thank you for all the hard work and the services that you provide! Thank you for giving low income families the opportunity to have a pet to love and care with all it requires. Forever grateful

Michelle Chambers Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: They treated my cat who has been in and out of the pdsa facilities with a block bladder they treated both the cat and myself with alot of empathy. He has had 4 surgeries and pending a 5th. I will be forever grateful for their effort.

Luke Miller Posted on Google 1 year ago

Positive experience: From my family point of view, it turned out to be a sad but necessary visit. It was an emergency for our cat. I called in the morning, explained the situation and was told to bring him straight in. As soon as we got there we didn't wait. He was taken straight in. The staff were friendly, helpful and sympathetic. Can not fault them.

Elizabeth Fleure Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Very nice and helpful reception staff ony first visit. Christopher the vet was very good and explained what the plan was for my poor shar pei.

Sandra Walsh Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Couldn't ask for a better service. Reception staff very helpful, nurses are great and vets do an incredible job please pay as much as you can afford. Don't have them beg for money they are worth their weight in gold.

Chris Melluish Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: My dog was seriously ill they did everything they could with empathy and professionalism. Although he passed, all avenues had been looked at before doing what was best for him in the long run. I thank them for being honest and taking the time to discuss with us all the options and potential risks to my families beloved dog Bob's life. They were caring and compassionate in a very difficult time and did the best they could for Bob.

Sammi Morgans Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: I have been trying to get through to the emergency line since the 16th of September to get an appointment pdsa tried to say they called me which was a lie because my phone never rang and I’m still waiting for a phone call this service is terrible

js project Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: No one has been answering the phone for several weeks You can call another PDSA without any problems, but here there is a constant problem - no one is answering the phone!

Sam Kal Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Cannot get through to anyone on the phone then when I tell them how long my cat has been sick they tell me to take pictures, like how can I take pictures of something going on internally, they make me feel like I’m asking them for the world when all I care about is getting help for my sick cat! I took her by emergency to a different vet and they saw her straight away and was even able to gently examine her without the need to sedate her which is what Pdsa say they have to do! They seem to think I’m making it up or just enjoy dragging my cat into the vets when the truth of the matter is my cat hates it and so do I! I can never get an appointment and when I have do, they don’t seem to care or very thorough in their exam. I always leave donations even when I’m skint so the service should be better! I understand they are a charity but even so they have a duty of care towards our sick pets so those of us on low incomes done have the option to go private but now with all this palava and still not able to get an appointment after a month I’m thinking of taking out insurance and taking her to a private vet where at least they will show her the care and give her the help she needs. My advice you get what you pay for or in this case don’t pay for because the service is atrocious and the vets don’t seem like they want to be there

Anna Jablonska Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Such a great experience. Very lovely and helpful staff. My cat was much better after few days. Thank you so much guys

Carina Devin Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Staff are amazing and gave very valuable information to support my cat

Hx Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Quick to persuade me to put my cat down after an infected ear from a cat fight. In fact they gave too small of a cone. Transferred to a different hospital, fluids and antibiotics and my cat is doing much better. Ended up happily transferring to a private hospital where pdsa took a whole day to transfer details of my cat’s bloods. See the two different types of care for yourself And be aware, they wont give substantial help unless you make a very sizeable donation…

Fantastic experience: Easy to find , nice and friendly staff , helped my guneia pig even toilet on premises ,

Kim Haridimou Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: My dog had a serious infection which resulted in a large operation. The care that was given was first class and thanks to all the various staff involved she is now making a brilliant recovery

Adem Hanzone Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Staff are very friendly and do the best they can given the circumstances of timing. My appointment was running late today, about half an hour which was only to pick up medication and only one nurse was dealing with dispensing it but given the fact that services and medication are at a greatly reduced price, it’s a shame that people complain and demean staff that they have been waiting too long. Along with some guy huffing butane gas out of his sleeve waiting for his dog to be seen. The staff have to deal with all kinds of people whatever their circumstances and I commend them for their patience and efforts dealing with difficult people.

Hazel Pacey Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: My dog has not eaten or drinking hardly for almost a week and has server diarrhea with blood and they are refusing to see her as an emergency and won't book me an appointment very disappointed and very worried and she has also been sick with yellow flem and Google says blood in poo is and emergency

Natasha Hunt Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Excellent service as always and they even use a phone not computers to explain things

Kitty Squish Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Dont bother calling in an actual emergency!! Calling trying to make an urgent appointment for my sick cat, no vets seem to care about taking on urgent cases. Pdsa bow is just as bad. I called new cross hoping they could offer an appointment but they wont even answer the phone. I was on the line for 46 minutes listening to your 'please bare with us' automated nonsense whilst my cat is in pain!! Your website is telling me i can register at Ilford but what good is that when its over an hour away and new cross is 16 minutes by train for me!

Claudia Schneider Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Great nurses who can do things with my cat the I can't...like applying the flea treatment. Everyone 8s really nice and friendly. Thank you!

Edgar Kolosovski Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: My cat got badly bitten and we received a perfect treatment from the vet and the nurses. I am very grateful to them for that.

Sarah Roberts Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Was a sad day ,as had to have our 20 year old cat euthanized. Male vet who dealt with us ,was so Lovely! Seperate room that was set up for this . Couldn’t have wished for a more Calm, pain free gentle passing. Thank you so Very much ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dianna Hynes Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Very disappointed. I'd like to talk to someone on the phone. I just want an appointment for my cat. It's so long winded and frustrating.

Rich Le Gate Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: I cannot thank the lovely staff here for how friendly and kind they were to our cat Thomas. It really makes such a difference and we really appreciated it, as we had to leave him with them for a day. Thank you.

Sam Niechcial Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Private vet wanted £500 to perform an ECG on my cat before they would even look at his tail. PDSA treated his tail, and provided me with six months of worming and flea treatments, for the total cost of £10. Every member of staff I encountered was polite, friendly, and took the time to explain things properly in a considerate manner. I cannot recommend this charity or this hospital enough and would urge anyone who can afford it to donate to support the great work they are doing.

Fantastic experience: Staff are so nice, especially to your pets, very welcoming and kind

Charlie Killick Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Super impressed with the staff. Had to take my 8month puppy in, was greeted by a lovely friendly receptionist. Did have to wait a while over appointment time but it’s to be expected as an emergency came in. The vet who saw Lyla was absolutely brilliant and I just instantly got a good vibe from her. Just gutted I didn’t catch her name! The costing was more than reasonable and Lyla was sent away with medication needed. Thank you to all!

Caro B Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: A family member took their dog (who was registered with them) as an emergency. He was choking and frothing at the mouth from a dog treat getting stuck in his throat. They refused to take and treat him, even though they could see it was a life and death situation. The PDSA at New Cross didn't care if he lived or died. Shocking behaviour from a so called charity. Thankfully they took him to the Blue Cross and they saved his life. PDSA are a disgrace.

mandy goddard Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: There so good and caring for your pets and you can donate what you can afford Thank you PDSA ❤️

Fantastic experience: The vets, nurses and admin staff are wonderful! They provide an excellent service. Please leave a contribution when you visit.......... every penny helps!!!

Hamzah Elouahabi Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: An absolutely shocking place. Would not take my dog who got RUN over because he had been seen in the night by a 24/7 private vet and they did not want to take him in the morning. Asked to speak to the manager and he hid behind his receptionist the same way his wife hides the man she cheats on him with. A place filled with women pretending to be men in there. Cowards and an embarrassment to their field of helping pets for the poor.

Maria Barnish Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: The reception was very polite and nice. The vet was professional and found a problem within 30 minutes and prescribed some medication. My cat is well now. Thank you so much!

Z L Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: I filled in a form on line as I couldn’t get through on the phone but got no call back I then phoned twice to book an appointment and was told they would get in touch within 5 days , after a week I got a text saying they were only seeing urgent patients. I wouldn’t recommend the PDSA to anyone as it seems they pick and choose who they see.

Richard Till Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: The vet i see was very helpful and she put me at ease with her explanation of what was wrong with my dog Chaos and i can't thank her enough and all that is done for all the animals that are treated at the PDSA

Ty Lloyd-Smith Posted on Google 2 years ago

Positive experience: A completely different place than the PDSA I remember from years back. Staff are amazing once in the room with your pet, but the waiting room is shambles and dirty. Heard not so good stories in the waiting room

yvei oshea Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: My darling devout love for all animals I nominate Sivester the wonderful receptionist of The New Cross PDSA A AWARD FOR COMPASSION XX YVE.

Samantha-Jane O'Sullivan Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Rubbish service, couldn't get to speak to Any urgently. All the phone numbers are Automated... my poor dog ended up being put to sleep by a private vet, which I had to take a huge loan for. It was discovered my dog had Mouth cancer which would have been detected months ago. But instead my dog was in alot pain...

n shah Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Best service and best experience. Somehow, i feel more comfortable in PDSA than pets at home. The vet and nurses are explaining in detail without rushing.

Matthew Moore Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: After speaking to Millie the Lead Vet I felt really happy and confident in her expertise. My 1 year old Frenchie was taken in today for an X-ray after running down the garden and tripping up the decking chasing a fox! As a result of this broke her elbow. I know now, thanks to the advice of Millie and her team, that this is a common break in Frenchie's. Millie ran me through the options and made me feel really reassured that all would be okay and they would carry out a surgery to repair. I cant thank the staff of this Pet Hospital enough for the care they provide. Thank you!

Teresa Blackeby Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: My cat peanuts went in to have some bad teeth removed his doing really well now and no more bad breath and eating a lot better since, thank you to all at the pet hospital

HannahS8775 Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: The New Cross PDSA have always been so, so kind and wonderful when I have needed their services for my cat and dog. My cat Bella received care at the end of her life and we said goodbye to her recently at the hospital. The vets were so kind and understanding, and let us take our time to say goodbye, as well as being so helpful with arranging her cremation. I recommend them highly for anyone who needs their help. Pictured is my dog Toby and cat Bella :)

Alma Kemp Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: The staff at this place deserve an award just for putting patients and their owners at ease, the efficient pace that we were seen and the fact that my 2 cats weren't out of my sight for one second made me relieved. Zen and Sage reacted better here than other places and I know they appreciated that they had no shots today. The feeling was one of experience, understanding, caring non-judgemental and definately somewhere I will go back to and I want to make a donation of food

Clare Barnes Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: First time having to contact pdsa, after a few questions about my dogs symptoms they agreed he needed to be seen and was offered an appointment within 45 minutes, I explained it may not be possible to get there within 45 minutes and they were very accommodating saying its ok just arrive as close to the given time as possible. We checked in with ease and didn't wait too long considering this is for emergencies. Professional knowledgeable vet and gave our dog medication to help with his pain. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Shader passed away on that day PDSA help me a lot

Paul Casey Posted on Google 3 years ago

Positive experience: Staff and vets are patient, kind and caring even in the face of some very demanding and unpleasant clients. Yes, there can be delays and extended waits but that's to be expected at any busy medical facility.

Fantastic experience: AMAZING AS ALWAYS. My poor fur baby got into a fight with a tom cat and didn't fair well. These guys were quick to give me an appointment. Saw him and treated us both with kindness. I just wish I had more money to give them

Isabella Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: A friendly polite team It was my 1st time using this vet and I was greatful for the kind vet who handled my cat with kindness and respect .

Seyi Afolabi Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Brought my Lucky in today after she'd been limping for a while. Receptionists and vet were so lovely and friendly. Lucky does not like to be manhandled but they were understanding and the vet gave his observations from a video of the limp. It's amazing that we can access these low cost services in the UK. Thank you so much PDSA New Cross!

Jayjay Mem Posted on Google 3 years ago

Positive experience: Sadly my little fur baby got put down so for me it was very sad! But the PDSA is an amazing hospital and if you guys can donate please do!!

Lia Shore Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Always sad to visit here but at least you are greeted with the kindest people and very professional staff. There's one lady (I'm sad I forget her name) but she's helped me with at least 3 of my animals. When I went I unfortunately had my cat put down. But as I am young and was sobbing like a baby, she put me in a secluded room until my mum got there to be alone with my cat. I will never forget that!! (Hope this doesn't get you into trouble but you are the best lady ever) thank you pdsa

Paul Poison Fish Manjyu Woodman Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: Refused to help me so had to travel all the way to ilford Costa g me £45 for taxis when I could of went here for free on the dlr so I gave the pdsa no donations which I could of donated to this one but screw them

Kezzier S Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: I spoke to a man this morning regarding my dog - vile and rude! At a time when pet owners are upset and concerned about their animals I would expect even just a tad of humanity! Told to use a website that I have been trying to register on since 7am… Thankfully I am able to use technology, there may be others that aren’t… Not helpful at all

mary mcguinness Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: I have always had good experiences with Pdsa but am very disappointed with the service I received for my fourteen and half year old dog towards the end of his life . For nearly two weeks before he was put to sleep he suffered diarohea very badly . I rang Pdsa to ask if they could give him something to help with diarohea and to ease his pain ( his joints were very stiff because of his age so it wouldn’t be easy taking him there ) I was told to give him rice and chicken which I did for days , I rang again saying that he still had diarohea and could they give him something . I took him there , this wasn’t easy because of his stiff joints , bless him . They wouldn’t give him antibiotics , they said they don’t always help. My dog has had antibiotics in the past for diarohea and always helped him . My dog suffered a lot of pain at the end of his days and could be relieved if the vets gave him antibiotics. Because my dog was booked in to be put to sleep because of old age and not being able to walk properly , they just didn’t seem to be interested in him no more

Janet Robson Posted on Google 3 years ago

Positive experience: I have been taking my animals here for many many years. The care shown is excellent but just recently not so. Understand there is a lot going on outside but feel my dog hasn't been cared for effectively. Reason being she is old.

Carole Dane Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Went today for the first time with our lovely Twinkle. Who had to be put to sleep. The receptionist and vet were so lovely and caring. They cared not only about Twinkle but us as well. Easy to park and found it easily. Have found our new vet.

Malika GB Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Always very lovely staff. Very helpful. Wish it was also avaliable to people that work and just pay prices a bit cheaper than other vets. But i like this vet as they helpful.
