Our comment from InfoVet about Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital:

Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital is a well-regarded veterinary practice known for its compassionate and professional care for a variety of pets, including exotic animals. Many clients appreciate the dedicated and knowledgeable staff, mentioning their ability to handle complex cases and provide tailored care based on individual pet needs. The hospital is especially noted for its excellent care of small animals and exotics, as well as its transparent communication during treatment.

Customers have praised the thoroughness of pre-operative care and follow-ups, with many feeling reassured by the detailed explanations provided throughout their pets' treatments. The hospital's commitment to animal welfare and its approach to ongoing training for veterinary students have also been positively highlighted. Regular clients appreciate the long-term relationships they've built with the staff over the years.

However, some clients have raised concerns regarding rising costs and the requirement for upfront payments, which they feel can detract from the overall value of service. Instances of miscommunication, particularly regarding billing and appointment scheduling, have been noted as areas needing improvement. Some users reported feeling rushed during consultations or encountering delays in follow-up care.

Overall, while Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital demonstrates a commendable level of care and expertise, there are areas for enhancement in client communication and pricing transparency. Many still recommend this facility for its dedication to veterinary care.

Fantastic experience: I have seen a handful of vets at RVC for each our cats and we've had nothing but a positive experience. Every member of their team is compassionate and incredibly professional. They will absolutely go the above and beyond for your pet. Thank you to Dr Callum Brook and students for our most recent visit.

Negative experience: As a long-time client I believe it is in my right to let others know of the pros and cons of choosing to bring your beloved furry friends/children here. Yes it is ever so slightly cheaper than some other places, but I doubt this will last much longer. Yes it is important to support future vets by being seen first by the students, but sometimes it seems like because of this you barely get any time with the actual vet and they don’t do as thorough of a check up. Year after year because of this we slowly trust the vets less and less, in addition to the fact that like others reviewers have said on here, it seems as though much like other establishments, Beaumont is becoming all about the money. Taking the fee upfront for appointments is ridiculous, but not my main gripe… it’s the medication prices that are ridiculously extortionate. Multiple times now I have taken my pet for non-threatening issues and been provided with medication to help ‘alleviate’ symptoms, never to resolve. Further to this, the vets are always vague on their descriptions of what the medication is exactly, because they know that should you google before you make it to the reception to be charged, you’ll find out that the medicine is in fact the same as humans use, and they’re charging more than 5 times the actual cost. I understand up-charging a bit to make it worth the hospital’s while, but to prescribe 15 tablets of medication which I can get a 60 pill pack of in Boots for almost 10% of the price is absurd. The latest of which spurred my decision for this review. Honestly, how can you charge 40+ Great British Pounds for medication which costs £2.49 online with about £2 shipping. It’s just greedy at that point. Even £10/£15 would be somewhat greedy, but that would be an acceptable and understandable amount to overcharge by. Unfortunately due to this cost of living crisis I’ll have to continue bringing my pet here but I just wish I could put a bit more faith in the vet’s word when they’re offering medication which I know will set me back unnecessarily. And don’t even get me started on the parking prices in the area which just pile up when the vet’s late to see you and take their time to bring out any medication while the clock is ticking on the parking app…

Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital

Hi Antonis,
Thank you for taking your time to leave your feedback.

Thank you for your understanding surrounding vet students, they are our future vets and require the time and teaching. I assure you they are working very closely with the vet to ensure the best outcome for each pet they see.

Unfortunately, those buying prices are not the same for us as we have to buy through licensed veterinary wholesalers, as well as abiding by the veterinary cascade. Written prescriptions are always available, so please keep this in mind during your future visits.

Negative experience: They got my review taken down, I'm happy to share emails between both parties to prove. Beaumont: Started off very well, took our cat for check ups etc, always liked the nurses no issues, really liked the place, nice waiting area etc, our cat got her chip and neutered here and it she was well looked after,,, However during Covid the place really dropped the standards, no vaccines, poor communication and waiting times, vets seeing your pets without your presence etc,, and they have maintained these new found low standards. Our cat was unwell after we moved house, wasn't eating or drinking. GF took her in 1st and after spending few minutes with our cat was told "shes fine don't worry", however myself and the GF took her in few days later and I asked them to check properly they then say "urgent care needed" they kept her over for 2 nights, (really wish we didn't listen to them, as she actually seemed to be better then when GF took her in 1st time), when we got her home the following day she couldn't walk. Her back legs just had no power, like she hurt it or pulled a muscle. We had to take her in the following day for a check up, (which obviously they tried to charge us for), we asked how this could have happened, if she fell or hurt herself, they didn't know, asked to see the overnight nurse but was told she's busy. Spoke to different people, each time and they say different things. Was told she had fallen from her canal at night. Asked how this is possible and they changed the story again, saying maybe its a pulled muscle as she wasn't moving, told them we were told she fell, was told no that nurse wasn't there. I emailed them asking how a cat goes in dehydrated and comes out unable to walk, told them if she didn't get better we'd take legal action, no reply. Luckily she was walking fine after a week or so. Worst thing is, since that "stay over" our cat got afraid of going to the vets Beaumont, everytime we took her there she got tense and stressed, especially as we couldn't go with her, also when they sent our cats files over to the new vets they wrote in the report history "aggressive cat" Our cat grew up with a child and she's never even hissed at anyone let alone be aggressive, vets at Beaumont used to say how friendly she was, she only became tense after having to stay over and what ever happened she remembers it as a bad experience with that place,,, and the report carries on "must of got hurt on the way home after owners picked her up" shocking! To be honest I was ready to take this up with Beaumont but the gf convinced me to let it go as our cat was healthy and happy. Shoddy place, with possible negligence or incompetence, if our cat did fall, let us know, accidents happen, but don't keep changing the story, this caused a lot of stress for the family as we did not know what was wrong and esp our 9yr old, who was distraught. Pets are family, you expect the best care which was not provided. Avoid. We soon moved our cat from this place, (they also postponed the yearly booster by 2-3 months saying its out of stock). New place had stock and appointment booked in days. Our cats been there few times for check ups and her booster today, no issues, she's still a little nervous but gets comfortable quickly.

Negative experience: This place is all about the money and it gives me the ick. They are SUPER expensive and you have to pay everything up front, which is fine but when they continually take 4 weeks to get around to signing an insurance document so you can claim back it's too much! I also don't know any other vet that insists on you paying when booking on the phone. Im going back to my old vets who are a little further away but I didnt feel like they were just in it for the money. Shame.

Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital

Hi An,
Thank you for taking your time to leave feedback and sorry to hear you've been left feeling disappointed.
We understand that veterinary costs and policies can feel frustrating, and we try to be as transparent as possible. We also apologise for the delay surrounding insurance.
We wish you and your pets all the best.

Amerige B Posted on Google 5 months ago

Negative experience: My main issue with Beaumont is the lack of accountability and communication, particularly around billing. I paid £55 upfront for my appointment. After I had already left the clinic, I was then sent an additional invoice for an “extended consultation” that was never discussed or agreed to. When I queried this, Beaumont ignored my email for three weeks. It was only after I followed up and held them accountable that the charge was reviewed and removed. This delay had real consequences. While my money was tied up, I was unable to pay to have my cat examined elsewhere, which is unacceptable when a veterinary practice should be prioritising animal health and welfare. There also appears to be an excessive focus on money upfront, with rigid payment policies and last-minute cancellations. If appointments can be cancelled due to prioritised emergencies, a deposit system with the balance paid after the consultation would be far more appropriate. During the visit itself, only a student vet carried out basic checks (temperature, heart rate, abdominal palpation), followed by a brief discussion about diet, which did not justify an extended consultation charge. This experience is a clear decline from my visit two years ago, when the practice felt far more focused on care rather than billing. I would recommend others seek a veterinary practice with a stronger ethos, clearer communication, and a genuine priority on animal welfare.

Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital

Hi Amerige,
Thank you for taking your time to share your feedback.
We apologise for your frustration surrounding our payment protocols, we are always adapting to ensure we remain fair and appropriate. Our current protocols were put in place to reduce losses from missed appointments etc.
I assure you animal welfare is our top priority here at the Beaumont, whilst also ensuring our students receive high quality teaching.
Please reach out at [email protected] if you'd like to discuss anything further.

Chana Alexander Posted on Google 5 months ago

Negative experience: We used to come to this vet around 10 years ago and continued to once we got a new puppy. This was my first choice without fail. However, in recent years they have become ridiculously overpriced. In August their consultation ONLY fee was £55. I went to book an appointment and its gone up £3. The level of care here used to be outstanding for the animals. Now its just all half hearted. My dog was not checked properly as i paid for a full health check up and the vet or nurse did not do that. I just booked my fur baby another appointment and attatched photos of her sore paws, only to be told “we now require payment before the appointment”. Sorry i booked for 2 weeks away, why on earth would I need to pay for a service I am yet to receive. I just feel its become a business just about the money not the animals. £55 for antibiotics when after doing my research, in reality they are 40% cheaper… yet the vet charge an over excessive amount. Unfortunately I have been looking all week to find a new vet but its not that easy. Its a shame as Beaumont was always the place to go. Please sir/madam I do not require any response regarding payments or influx in prices as I just wanted to voice my honest opinion which isn’t heard properly through reception or email.

Fantastic experience: My feisty chinchilla was laid low with tooth problems but after treatment is fit and well. The history taken before the op was thorough and detailed. I was kept informed throughout and meticulously advised on her meds and how to administer. So much care and trouble has been taken every step of the way. I have not, in 20 years of keeping chinchillas, encountered such a high standard of care. Thank you, lovely people :)

Negative experience: I recently registered with Beaumont Sainsbury’s Animal Hospital after moving back to North London with my 16-year-old dog. The online booking system confirmed my appointment, but I was later told they would not see us unless my previous vet immediately transferred records, despite my dog experiencing severe night-time breathing difficulties. For a senior dog in distress, this rigid policy felt unacceptable. When we finally saw the vet, the consultation was rushed. The vet quickly suggested extensive tests costing over £1,200, which I could not agree to, so we proceeded with a blood test instead. My dog was taken away for over 30 minutes, returned with three legs shaved and bandaged, yet no blood was successfully drawn. I have never experienced such poor technique before. My dog has had many vaccinations and blood tests in his life, and no vet has ever failed to collect a sample. In the end, I was charged around £130, given medication that made no improvement, while my dog suffered unnecessary stress. The receptionist was more focused on payment than care. I will not return and urge others to think carefully before trusting this clinic.

Positive experience: The student Vet was very thorough however as expected unable to make decisions. Christiania the senior Vet was amazing and caring natural with my dog which can be aloof. She did a thorough dental examination of the teeth and explained in detail the management and pros and cons. Thank you. The clinical rooms are too small and looked shabby need upgrading. My only criticism is the reception staff looked stressed and not friendly. No smiling or greeting. The front desk reception is the first impression of a place and this has to improve in communication skills and welcoming approach

Fantastic experience: I had to take my tortoise for a general check-up, the service at this vet was very impressive. It was carried out by Nadene Stapleton and 2 student Vets, who were both very professional and handled my tortoise gently so he was at ease. It was a very educational visit as Nadene has lots of expertise with tortoises and taught me a lot about taking better care of him, and also followed up after the appointment with links to reputable brands for the products I need plus links to trustworthy online sources of information. The clinic on the whole is well run with friendly and organised staff, I can’t recommend this service highly enough. Huge thanks to the team

Briana Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Unfortunately, our experience with this veterinary practice was deeply upsetting. Not only emotionally, but financially. While some of the staff were kind, others left us questioning their compassion and transparency. I brought in my dog after he had a traumatic attack. We were given a consent form which outlined a proposed treatment plan with an estimated price range, which I agreed to. I was told I could split the cost and pay half upfront and the rest the following day. The next day, however, I was refused to see my dog by a vet who told me over the phone that he was “too unwell” to be seen and that “dogs don’t feel human emotions… he’s fine.” ??? To hear that, especially after such a traumatic experience, was cold, unprofessional, and frankly, dismissive of both my dog’s emotional wellbeing and mine. It made me question her competence and whether that refusal to let me see him was a tactic to prolong his stay and the bill. When we finally saw him, it was clear he was ready to come home and recover in the comfort and safety of his family. However to our shock the final bill had nearly doubled, with several, and unnecessary procedures carried out overnight that we were neither informed of nor consulted about. This was a blatant act of financial exploitation during a moment of deep distress. I am now actively seeking a new veterinary practice that prioritises transparency and ethics.

Fantastic experience: I was referred to Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital last year when my vet was unsure what was going on with my Guinea Pig. Every member of staff we saw, it was obvious how knowledgable they were about Guinea Pigs and how much they care. I knew that Terry was in safe hands whilst he stayed there. Sadly Terry was very unwell and wasn't responding to the treatment so we sadly had to make the decision to say goodbye. We were able to give him lots of cuddles and I felt under no pressure to hurry up, which I really appreciated. Thank you to everyone who cared for my sweet Terry pig.

Fantastic experience: I come here semi-regularly for my hedgehog. The staff are kind and knowledgeable and pricing is on par for what I would expect (what I guess I will be charged is not far off from what they would charge me). I always feel that my pet is in good hands here. My only feedback which is not really negative, I wish it was clearer which entrance to use, I have needed both and not been told which one was open without having to ask. Also, sometimes I find I have gone home after an appointment and I can think of more questions, but it is hard to tell if there is an in-between service for queries that require veterinary knowledge but don't necessitate an appointment.

Negative experience: This place is a scam, they charged for an operation that included in the price, a post op check up, and they had the audacity to ask for a payment for the post checkup via text. They don’t care about the pets, they aren’t thorough and barely examine the pets (literally a minute or so and no real tests). They are there to extract the maximum amount of money and see you for the shortest amount of time. I’m convinced all the good reviews are people who got lucky because all the bad reviews mirror exactly my terrible experience at this place.

Fantastic experience: A caring, thoughtful and professional team oversaw the care of my aging parrot over three days recently. I was called twice a day with updates. Today I was advised her breathing had deteriorated. It was suggested I come in. I was able to enter before opening hours and spend time either my pet. I want to particular note the care given by Sema and Hannah today, as I made the difficult decision to let my pet of over 31 years, go. And before then Dr. Michaela explained in detail the care Bridgitte would get. The cost of her care was given to me before admitting her, and I was also given the estimated costs of additional care, if I chose. I can’t say enough good things about this facility. I recommend them highly to anyone who wants the best care, oversight, empathy and professionalism.

Negative experience: They are a disaster- they didn't complete the necessary details in relation to a rabies jab for traveling abroad. Update it has occurred to me they like to drag treatment out to as many visits as possible. I am on Benefits and I have paid them £79 and all they done was take my Dog's heart rate. A blood Test Could have been done at the same time- which was a necessary part of examining my Dog for a Surgical Procedure. I cancelled the follow up appointment and are going to France where the Vets are so much better.

Fantastic experience: I just had my second appointment with Dr. Colin Clarke for my pet rats, and I can confidently say they are an absolute legend! Dr. Clarke is incredibly attentive, experienced, and knowledgeable. On top of that, they are very kind and sweet with animals, making the whole experience as stress-free and comfortable as possible. I was provided with full information about my rats’ conditions, given clear advice on their treatments, and was able to pick up their medications at the reception. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I had my conure parrot for 3 days at this hospital for overdose of meds I can’t complain they did everything they could for him to recover from it yes I got a bill of nearly £3K but hey I wanted my bird back to his normal state. It is not about the money it’s how they look after your pet. I guess I didn’t have any other option on this matter

Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital

Hi Ramla,
Thank you for your 5* review and sharing your experience with us. We are glad we were able to nurse your conure back to health, and grateful for your understanding regarding costs.
Wishing you and your bird well!

Negative experience: Two years ago, we sadly had to put our dog down due to a worsening condition. On the day itself, the vet suggested to muzzle the dog prior to the injection, despite the dog no being able to use her back legs whatsoever. Moreover, the dog never once showed aggressive behaviour, quite the opposite as she was super friendly and a favourite with the students. The whole thing happened so quickly and in a rather odd uncaring way. My best friend happened to be there for support and also agreed that staff could have been a bit more accommodating with the time allowed once the dog had passed Within that week, I organised and paid for the dog's cremation and to have the ashes returned. Less than a year after this, I receive an invoice from The Beaumont for £168.50 relating to the dog's cremation and return of the ashes. I telephoned and explained that I had paid for this myself, providing them with the invoice I had settled upon the dog's death. I was reassured that all was well with a reassurance that a senior staff member would be in touch. Sadly, this wasn't to be. I received another invoice for the same amount. I called again, this time, incredulous as to why and how was the issue still resurfacing more than a year down the line. II was told again , that it must be a mistake and that someone would get back to me around this. They did not. I subsequently received another invoice, no letter of explanation, no apology, nothing . This invoice had a different amount. £95.00 When I queried it the operator, could not tell me exactly the £95 amounted to. Eventually, after a couple of weeks , it turns out that the £95.00 was for the injection and 20 minutes on the consult room floor to comfort and say goodbye to my dog. It's staggering that after two years of to and fro, the matter doesn't end yet. The last time I spoke to a staff member in october , I informed them that I would not be able to pay the outstanding balance until mid-November as I had unexpected expenses to cover. I was reassured this would be fine. Today however, I receive a debt recovery letter instructing me to pay the outstanding amount in order not to incur charges. My take on this? The Beaumont is disorganised, chaotic with a clear lack of robust business admin. Some staff member could also benefit from Trauma-Informed Practise workshops . Not all dogs are registered therapy dogs, however most, if not all dog owners will say that their dog has had some therapeutic benefit at some point during their companionship. Once I settle the two year old invoice, I will ensure that my all of data is forgotten by The Beaumont. I'd advise people to research their vet thoroughly.

Fantastic experience: I have a 10 year old pug with epilepsy who was in dire need of having his teeth cleaned and some removed. I didn't trust my usual vet and these guys were recommended to me by a friend. Though teeth cleaning was routine for them, I was absolutely terrified to go through with it. They took the time to speak with me, explain everything and examine my dog in person. They also took care to answer all my questions after I had left. I felt as comfortable as I possibly could. The day went perfect and they took great care of my dog. I'm so pleased with my experience here.

Negative experience: Worst possible Animal ‘Hospital’ to send your pet to. They only care about the money. They kept our cat for four days and wasn’t able to diagnose him with anything. After we explained we wanted to take him elsewhere, they then presented us a bill for £900 without a diagnosis or much hope. We then proceeded to take him to another vet that diagnosed him within a few hours with gastrointestinal issues, gave him medication and only charged us less than a quarter of the price. They are only in it for the money and to take advantage of caring pet owners!!!

Negative experience: Do not go there people! I recently visited this hospital with my 2-year-old Pomeranian, who weighs 2.2 kilograms, for a minor digestive issue. Despite not even examining my dog or providing any treatment, they presented a bill for £1,344 for immediate hospitalization. I was appalled by the lack of care and felt they were only interested in my money. They made me wait for two hours, only to hand me an exorbitant bill. I strongly advise against going to this place; they don’t care about animals, only about lining their pockets. At one point, I wanted to leave, but they told me the only injection they could offer was to prevent vomiting, even though my dog wasn’t vomiting; he only had diarrhea. The side effects of the injection they suggested matched the symptoms my dog was already experiencing, such as lethargy and digestive issues. It felt like they were trying to create a situation where I would have no choice but to stay and pay them. It’s clear they are only after money. Such people don’t deserve to be in this profession. I paid a £55 deposit and was told over the phone that it would be refunded if no treatment was given. However, when I arrived and asked for my money back, since they did absolutely nothing, they claimed it covered a “consultation.” This so-called consultation consisted of them looking at his ears, teeth, and just observing him—no actual treatment was provided. They are so terrible!!!!

Kitty2010 Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Absolutely stay away from this vet hospital if you care about your pets well being. They only care about money!! My dog died because they didn't really provide the necessary care for her and expected you to pay a massive thousands pounds bill when you picked up your pet body. Really regret to bring my dog to this horrible clinic. Big question about their ethical and professionalism. Honestly, the worst vet clinic I have never come across in London. I can see many fake 5 stars reviews here which makes me feel sick about this money grabber!! No moral. No ethnical. No heart. They should just shut down!!

Fantastic experience: The staff at the hospital have been incredibly supportive and compassionate with my Guinea Pigs. Where my local vets failed to pick up that my Guinea Pig had cancer, staff here identified it with their own examination and unfortunately it was severe enough that she had to be put to sleep. All the way through this process, the vets were incredibly compassionate and supportive, they even stayed open past their closing time so that I could arrive there to be with her before she was euthanised, and it was done with grace and care. Thank you so much for your kindness during this difficult time for my family and I, with special thanks to Collin especially. The staff really know their stuff and the care they show for animals is wonderful.

Negative experience: Can't speak for other pets but would not advise to take extra care with bunnies. Took our bunny in to get spayed and, on first attempt, was told that not enough anaesthesia was given to knock her out and she was getting very stressed meaning they had to postpone. Went back to the next appointment (a week later) to have a completely different vet delivering which did make me a bit nervous but of course trusted them all as specialists. The whole handover seemed rushed and two hours later I received a call saying that after giving the sedation medication and anaesthesia, her heart stopped and they were unable to resuscitate her, which indicates that she was given too much. I know that the risk with small animals is always greater and I initially assumed that this was a common thing, however, after doing some research it showed that only 1.39% of bunnies pass away following anaesthesia which is very low in the grand scheme of things. Of course, an underlying health condition could be to blame, but as far as we were aware (and confirmed by vet during prior appointments) she was very happy and healthy, eating, pooping & breathing absolutely fine. We are absolutely devasted by this as did a huge amount of research when selecting a vet and this hospital is recommended with bunnies. Overall, the vets seemed nervous by the procedure and unfortunately it was a horrible result. My 9 year old daughter is left traumatised by this and I am left feeling like I literally took our family pet to their death.

Negative experience: A really terrible practice! They were interested only in the money. leaving the poor cat with a bad infection without antibiotics and sufficient pain relief when she clearly needed both. Afterwards, they failed to help her on several occasions. They do not care about their patients.

Fantastic experience: We've brought our pet rats here several times for quite serious issues and they've always been treated with the utmost care. Little furries like rats are no less important to these vets than the biggest pedigree cats and dogs.

Negative experience: Very expensive, can buy their medication for 1/4 of the price online. Paid nearly £200 and vet didn’t even look in my dogs ears and her infection didn’t clear up had to bring her to another vets who throughly examined her ears,

Ivy Gawo Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: I am so impressed by the way my 2 parrots have been treated by the vets in this practice. They have a very gentle manner and understanding on best way to treat ny birds. I am so pleased to know that they are on hand if I ever need them.

Michael Pitt Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: The most truly awful veterinary place in London. Whilst not all of the people working there are bad, It appears that all they care about is money. They treated my Cat Nera appallingly badly and with a cruel disregard for her welfare that genuinely shocked me. Casually giving her the wrong medication and consequently making it impossible to treat her chronic conditions going forward. She suffered unnecessarily as a result of their casual incompetence and died a year later. Stay away if you want your pet to be well treated, safe and happy. I would never wish anyone else to have a similar horrific experience with their pet!

Arturo SM Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Will never return to this place. Not only has the care and service declined, but you can wait for half an hour trying to get through on the phone. Their charges are exorbitant, and not only that, but they are now REFUSING treatment and surgery unless you pay a deposit upfront. Nowhere else asks for this and they lie and can't even get their story straight about when this was allegedly implemented.

Francesca Vacca Moreno Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: It’s taken me over a year to write this review because of the amount of trauma this place caused on me and my dog. Where do I start? My conclusion is that I will NEVER be taking my dog to this place nor will I ever recommend anyone. In March 2023 I attended the practice because my dog had an ear infection. I was first seen my two vet trainees that examined my dog and asked me a few questions. They then asked me to wait in the room while the spoke to the vet. When they got back, they asked me to wait outside while my dog stayed with them, as the vet was very busy. They would call me once the vet was free. LIE and MASSIVE mistake on my part. While I was in the waiting room I could hear my dog crying and whining and I got nervous, but calmed myself down thinking “she’s probably crying because she’s not with me” WRONG. The reason she was crying and whining was because, without my consent or me being present, they decided to do a deep clean of her ears. I find this completely disrespectful and shameful as, 1. You should always ask for consent before treating a dog. 2. Do it in front of the owner. This experience has caused so much trauma in my dog, as she now can’t have anyone clean or touch her ears. (Never the case before) But this doesn’t end here. When I was called back in, the qualified vet started lecturing me on the diet I give my dog. This was completely uncalled for, as my dog was 14 months at the time and had been on the same diet for 10 months and this was the first ear infection she had. They basically shamed me, and made me feel like a bad owner, as if it was a reoccurring thing. To make matters worse, they then pushed me into buying an ear cleaner, saying she NEEDED it. I was basically scammed as the cleaner alone was around 70 pounds and the total bill was nearly 150. In conclusion, this place is completely unprofessional. The most scary bit is that they are a teaching hospital, so they are teaching future vets unethical practices and how to fill their pockets without thinking about the person or the dog. Thank god I have now found a caring vet, that has updated knowledge on research around diet, does not try to scam me by selling me useless products that I can find elsewhere for much cheaper and my dog loves.

Fantastic experience: We took our very sick budgie Merlot to this hospital on 17/2/24. We were treated with kindness and understanding. Bethany was lovely and caring and the Vet who examined Merlot was compassionate. Sadly Merlot was too ill to be saved. We were distraught so we did what was best for Merlot. We can’t thank ALL THE STAFF at Beaumont Sainsbury Hospital enough. You made a very difficult sad situation a little easier to bare. THANK YOU. MARINA- ELLEN & MICHAEL. Edgware.

Positive experience: They can be slightly disorganised at times because they're generally very busy. On this occasion, we sadly had to have our cat put to sleep & they couldn't have been kinder or more understanding. Made a very difficult day a bit easier to deal with. Thank you to all the staff

Shona Cullen Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: We had a very painful experience with this vet when our cat had a blocked urinary duct. We will never know what was really wrong as their x-ray machine wasn't working the day he went in for an emergency procedure. He was discharged the next evening hoping that he would urinate at home but he didn't and I was again at the emergency vet that night. The Beaumont discharged him sodden wet and cold as he had urinated that day in his cage and they had attempted to clean him up but left him in a very sorry state indeed. He really should not have been discharged as he never urinated again and unfortunately we had to make the very very sad decision to put him to sleep. I did make a complaint but nothing came of it and I was left very very distressed about his whole treatment.

Positive experience: The RVC staff were professional and understanding..took my pets issue seriously and my particular circumstances in to account. The trainee vets were well managed and compassionate

Vincent Vernon Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: I visited recently and the female vet trainee called the male vet doctor who checked my cat and gave it about a third of the injectable flea treatment from the bottle and said he would keep the rest not explaining the reason why. The trainee female vet Nurse gave my cat advocate flea drops spreading it on the fur only between the head and shoulders. I told her the instructions said it should have been dropped on bare skin and she said no it was okay. £100.00 bill for this?

Positive experience: Staff are polite and friendly. The place itself is nice and clean. There isn't much parking, if at all. The prices are reasonable.

Negative experience: A complete and utter shambles. It is hard to believe how this business continues to operate which is a terrible shame given it’s laudible intentions. If you have pet insurance, be prepared to wait between 8-12 weeks for your claim to be processed. Book an appoinment and you will be lucky to get out within an hour and a half. The total disconnect between the outstanding vetinary care including the final year students and the administrative staff is beyond belief. The computer systems don’t work properly. Nobody seems to know what is going on and on one occasion we were kept waiting for ages because nobody knew where the key to the safe was. That meant we could not get the drugs we had been prescribed. You couldn’t make it up! Avoid, unless you have time and money and the patience of a saint.

Fantastic experience: The staff here are wonderful. They saved my wife's pet Rabbit when other Vets could not. Cannot speak highly enough of their caring and professional staff.

Mariana Oueilhe Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: This review is just you are aware before registering your pet in this hospital that they take around 10 weeks to fill up 3 questions in a insurance claim form, this according to a lady on the phone. I have a policy for years never used and been with them for years too, now my pet is sick and thousands of pounds coming out from my pocket, i just wish they care more about the importance of the insurance to the owners, we have an insurance for a reason. I just completely disappointed with them and heart broken for what is happening to my pet.

Fantastic experience: Hands down the best vet in the country. It's hard to find a decent avian vet, let alone one who knows how to treat ducks! But, Nadine is one of if not THE best avian vet in the UK, and I'm so happy to have found her. All the other vets are equally trustworthy within their chosen specialization. The clinic itself is clean, advanced, and fully equipped, and I like how they have seperate waiting rooms depending on the animal. My one and only nitpick is that the exotics waiting area is not protected like the one for cats, even though birds, rabbits, rodents, etc are far more delicate than cats. And the noisy, jumpy dogs must go right past them in order to get to the canine waiting area. This causes a lot of stress to the exotics, especially when an unleashed dog inevitably bounds over trying to get at them, since almost all exotics are prey animals. I don't understand why exotics owners can't use the cat waiting room, as it's a much better, safer place for them.

Nadene is an awesome reptile specialist and was super informative - myself and my partner learned so much. She was able to microchip him without this being booked previously and run a blood test for general health check up. Reasonable consultation price and we got a detailed follow up email so the service is above and beyond

Thus also making our first experience with a vet very easy. The reception staff are also really nice, and caring. I definitely recommend RVC.

Greta Ivanauskaite Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Treats various kinds of animals and fully equipped hospital. Never had any issues with them and they are not trying to sell or suggest something what is not necessary- unlike many other practices. Your pet is reviewed by learning practitioner, accompanied by experienced vet and I found that their practice is up to date and they are detached from the commercial style of healthcare as well as they are up to date with their knowledge. Appointments tend to run a bit late, but they are very busy. So I account on that.

Fantastic experience: The folks here have always been so lovely and kind to me and my sons. The vets always fawn over my rats, even when they stress poop everywhere. They also listen to my questions (even the dumb ones) and give informed and honest answers. Plus the reception staff are so friendly and helpful. I would especially like to thank Alyssa and Gemmay (I really hope I spelt your names right) for going above and beyond to help me when I showed up unannounced and asked for a last minute prescription. I also want to thank all the exotics vets for their love and devotion to my boys.

This caused a delay on the second vaccine for our kitten as we didn't get a reminder text either due to them not booking the appointment despite us booking it. Kind of disappointing

Negative experience: Went three times already to find out/fix what is causing my dog’s allergy issue. Bought everything and did everything they recommended, SPENDING OVER 1000£, and the problem is still not fixed. They had to extract blood sample to send to some lab for allergy test and they had to shave off two parts of my dog’s fur so they could find where to put the injection. The result came out negative allergies and simply left me off with getting injection (cytopoint) which we tried already and does not work… speechless.

Negative experience: I took my cat Ringo to get checked his ear because he had been in a fight last night. I was originally served by two kids who were clearly inexperienced, and then an actual vet came and took Ringo to “examine” him. The assessment was that he “likely” had a swollen ear, but since Ringo was feisty (well, he was in pain, duh), he couldn’t see into his ear properly. Absolutely pathetic response for a purported professional who should know how to handle a bloody cat. We asked them to sedate him to examine him properly, but the vet said they couldn’t do it as they had not enough staff, and nobody could be able to examine him, even if sedated. I didn’t know how to respond to that. I ended up returning home with some overpriced meds, but if they do not work, I’m bound to go back to get Ringo sedated!!! So back to square one, only that I have to pay twice. Please never come to this place; if you care about your pet take them somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: I am happy to say that this practice has improved since my last review. The staff are more compassionate and open to an owners thoughts, feelings and beliefs. They have proven that they are a lot more compassionate than they was. They base their treatment of the animals based on what the animals are like personality wise not just under standard treatments. They respect each animals is different and adjust their handling and treatment according to each individual animal. Not many places do this and I am happy to say they are a place that learns from their mistakes. I would recommend this practice to anyone who needs AN AMAZING regular vet. The vets and nurse love our animals as much as we do, many ha e their own animals and I have found they often share their experiences with clients this helped me realise that I wasn't alone in my worries they have also admitted when they try something new with their animals and it hasn't worked. Their exotics dept has gone above and beyond so many time for me and my animals and they have told me straight when they have been surprised during a surgery or in their findings in tests, they best bit is that you can tell that they get just as upset when you pet doesn't survive a procedure or there are no treatments available due to the type of illness they take these prognosis personally. I would recommend this practice to anyone who asks me.

Positive experience: Had my dog speyed recently and everything was excellent, she has recovered 100%.. My only gripe was being told it would cost £215 to £258, however upon paying the the bill I was charged £331..,vat and a few added bits. I realise they are there to help and they do a wonderful job, but, it would have been far better if I had known the full price as the extra took me into a large overdraft which, caused an ongoing effect for me. Hence minus the 1 star. X

Negative experience: I was told after asking that they had run out of vaccines - this means we have to restart the program again - that’s 3 shots .. why did you not think to inform customers beforehand ? It’d have given us time to go elsewhere! Shoddy of you . Using Covid is not an excuse either. Blatant lack of regard and truthfulness.

Negative experience: Id be very careful with these vets. Ive known for a while that they are doing a little bit of a dodgy thing by wanting a £100+ consultion fee if the animal EVER has been to ANY vet in this universe. But £45 something if not? Which just does not make any sense. I do know that other vets get money for referring to them and thats why they want a referral from vets. It looks a bit like a referral scam to be utterly honest. Today i called for asking about a castration of a rat as my usual (and absolutely great) vet (east barnet vet surgery!) doesn't have any Appointments for the next two weeks. I was told i HAVE to pay over £100 in consultation because i rescue rodents and have seen other vets in my life (regardless of the rat not had seen a vet before). So apparently there are extra charges for having a different vet for the usual case? Then i was told i have to register the rat first and book for an appointment and then can. Book a castration. She first refused to tell me when castration appointments are available. And after. Persistently asking she said 'well its a bit of a wait and we cant book anything at the. Moment. So basically she wanted me to take a healthy rat to their vets, for an extra higher charge because i rescue rodents, to then be told that he is healthy but not appointments for castration are available. A price quote was also refused, (which is very alarming.) This is an absolute joke

Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital

Hi Vivian,
I am very sorry to read your experience shared here. This does not sound like our process at all! We would be really grateful if you could please email us at [email protected] for the attention of the Clinical Operations Manager so that we can understand what has happened in the communications you have outlined.
We do not charge extra for a primary care consultation or Guinea pig procedure for a new client. However, we do run two services at the hospital, the primary care (GP) veterinary service with our experienced vet team and also a specialist referral service for complex cases referred to us from your primary care vet, and that is with our advanced specialist team. It would be helpful to understand who you spoke to and when so that we can recall the information and identify what was and was not explained in your call.
Thank you for bringing your experience to our attention and we hope to hear from you via email with your contact details soon.
Anne

Fantastic experience: Thank you so much to your exotics team for helping today with this Wild Peregrine Falcon I rescued from a balcony in Canery Wharf after trying several other places to get this young bird of prey checked over and been turned down. I released him back in Limehouse and all went well. Thank you once again.

Fantastic experience: They're very professional and helpful with some of the recommendations for my cat's wellbeing... the facilities are kept in a clean environment which is a 10 for me

Fantastic experience: Very caring people and vets that know there stuff. Not cheap tho but as the saying goes you get what you pay for.even if your exempt from wearing a mask they still ask you to do so which to me is undermining a doctors authority, yet some of the staff ive seen only cover there mouth. Practice what you preach guys.

Fantastic experience: It has good vets, and lots of students. My dog didn't come home with me unfortunately. I have been going there for many years, and always had good, caring service.
