Negative experience: The receptionist was lovely very helpful and friendly but I felt the vet was to direct and matter a fact, they wouldn't discuss an alternative option and closed down wanting a second opinion. Medicine for life at 4 n half years old.

Negative experience: Don't recommend. Take your pet elsewhere. They don't care about you or your animals and the service is horrendous. They'd rather put your pet down rather than help them and if you have a bird they'll see it as a pest and insist on killing them too.

Fantastic experience: I’d like to say a massive thank you to the PDSA Thamesmead team and in particular Nicole for her care for my dog Blu, myself and my family were incredibly worried about him but she really did go above and beyond to get to the bottom of things to make him better! We are so so grateful and so happy to see him now on the mend, and that’s all thanks to you and the incredible work that you do.

Negative experience: Worst vets ever. I had one dog that had to be put down due to their negligence and then almost had another dog die due to a blockage and almost rupturing her stomach but they wouldnt see her over new years day because they couldnt be bothered. If id waited the time they said my dog would of died. The vet EMILY is a joke and needs to be fired and so do their reception team. This is hands down the worst vets in southeast London and id advise everyone to stop using them and PDSA if you care about your pets.

Negative experience: I bought my 8 week old kitten here for sickness and diarrhoea on the 1st of may, they told me she had a stage 6 heart murmur and told me she was dangerously dehydrated and needed a drip but couldn’t because of her heart, I was told she needed to be put to sleep. I explained she was playing and ok in her self but they tried scaring me into putting her down still. Despite this I was told she would gasp for breath as she gets older and that her heart wouldn’t cope with having a “massive” hole in her heart . I declined and took her for a second opinion at Easipetcare. They said she has a stage 5 heart murmur that will need more monitoring as she gets older but isn’t dehydrated in the slightest and could go years or even her entire life without an issue at all. Today she is absolutely full of life and totally recovered from her bug and putting the weight back on rapidly. ( added pics of her 4 weeks ago and now ) Honestly you may be a charity but this is absolutely terrible. You almost talked me into letting you kill my kitten. People need to get 2nd opinions before trusting Pdsa if your pet is otherwise fine in herself. Seems it’s easier for them to just kill an animal than treat them in my opinion. Definitely won’t be back. You can take me off the list thanks. UPDATE - I got a heart scan for my kitten. I have added the results to this post- Results say she don’t have a massive hole at all like you tried diagnosing. She has a very small hole, and a very good chance of going her entire life with no issues at all, I’m waiting for a phone call from management as I won’t be letting this drop. Update- she’s now 4 months old, it’s been 2 months since your staff advised I put my healthy kitten down! She’s still thriving and loving life. I am also still waiting for that phone call ?? ( updated a pic of her) Update 23/05/2024 Elsa had a heart check up at my vets. Her hole is closing up. Her heart is now down to a stage 2 ! And you still yet to contact me. I will keep updating my reviews until I know you won’t do this to another loved pet ! 7/02/2025 - updated pics - thank god I didn’t listen to your “professionals” Elsa had the go ahead to be spayed as her heart murmur is now completely undetected and closed up, all went well she’s recovering nicely. It’s been 10 days. Elsa is super healthy, extremely happy, and the most loving cat anyone could ever wish for. As Iv proved you was clearly wrong telling me she needed putting to sleep, , 08/11/2025 she is still absolutely fine I noticed you unpublished my review so needed 1 more edit …. This will be the last update. She’s going to live happily for many years to come

Fantastic experience: I cannot fault the service and care both my daughter and I were given yesterday fri 28th Nov. The receptionist asked the vet to kindly wait for us as we drove through rush hour traffic to arrive before they closed and euthanised our beloved 21year old cat with care and dignity, making an awful day a little easier. THANK YOU for the bottom of our hearts

Negative experience: They use to be good it's shame they don't help poor animals the amount of money I donated they cants see my dad dog shame on them regret every penny I game to them

li findlay Posted on Google 6 months ago

Fantastic experience: CANNOT fault the staff at all. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. A little bit smelly because of all the animals in and out. Often see pee, poo or blood outside on the floor (understandably) and the water bowl for dogs, although a kind gesture, is usually not clean. Despite this, I can't fault the service I have received here.. The team are doing a good job.

Msunderstanding Posted on Google 7 months ago

Negative experience: This was a bad experience from start to finish (rescheduled appointments and uncaring staff)! If you really care about your pet , I would advise to either save up or get pet insurance and go to a veterinary where Vets actually care about animals! Also this place could do with a thorough clean - it's pretty rank and had a foul odour. And when you finally get an appointment, be prepared to hang around for 30 mins - 45 mins before your pet is actually seen. Honestly, this place was like waiting in A&E - awful experience.

Fantastic experience: Sadly had to have our kitten put to sleep due to a brain disorder meaning he couldn't stand, walk, wasn't eating or drinking and messing on himself. Lady vet we had couldn't have been kinder. Explaining that he probably had more wrong with his brain than we knew of. She treated Archie with kindness and was really patient with us where we were upset. She helped make a really hard moment that much easier

madeleine murray Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Unfortunately it's been over 1 year I emailed called and no response. Which is really wrong. At least if I got a response for my pet that would have been better.

Kelly Morey Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: AVOID if you love your pet. 2 months ago my cat had a severe limp. The vet was pretty uninterested, wouldn’t even x ray. Had a feel and said it doesn’t feel broken. Today I took my cat to a PROPER vet. He has BONE CANCER. I thought the PDSA were meant to be about care and compassion for animals. But there is no compassion there, they just want you out the door fast. I will never ever go back, yes it was “low cost” treatment, but it was worthless treatment. Disgusted. Please don’t trust your baby in their hands. Heartless.

Dave Rush Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Very helpful and obliging staff also and more importantly reasonable prices compared with normal Greedy vets I can now afford to take my cats whenever necessary which is very good news Keep up the Good work PDSA and thank you

Kiki Brown Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Very grumpy people especially the man who took oreo in for her spay creepy vibes i also did a dog n cat food donation over £100 no thank you no nothings

marmitelicker Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Impossible to get an appointment. After ringing and them saying they class my animal as an emergency but then tell me to fill out the online form and send a video of my pet in distress so they can see what treatment it needs. Total joke

Roseanne Taylor Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: I just wanted to leave a message for a man named jamie. he was so helpful and polite and helped me and my cat. I will forever be grateful as my cat is my everything. Please thank him, and I hope he gets some recognition for his professional manner and advice and his care with not only my cat but with me to as I was very upset on the day of my visit.

Raluk Skumpy Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: The worst food I've ever eaten in a restaurant, I ordered 3 dishes and nothing was good.. I don't recommend, don't go there and spend a lot of money, and very bad service

Vicki Whitehead Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: After three visits and x rays I had to have my beautiful boy Luca put to sleep. Everyone at this practice was so kind and patient. The young lady vet that put him to sleep was lovely. I would just like to thank everyone at Thamesmead PDSA for making the most heartbreaking time of my life more bearable

Samantha Walsh Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: sadly we had to let our dog go. I was really disappointed it felt very rushed and quick and left my kids devastated and so upset.. I know their doing their best I accept that it's a charity after all it just left me feeling terribly upset and traumatised and ever so sad x

Julia Watkins Posted on Google 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: They gave me an appointment the same day as my Dog was very ill. They managed to help him and a few days later he was home.

Gemma Osborn Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: I've tried to get an appointment online, like they advise you. My cat was so poorly last night, her face was so swollen, her eyes were swollen, red, hardly open, she was walking into things. Not drinking, hardly eating and was so poorly. I begged for PDSA to see her but they refused! I have a full day at work now, I have to get someone else to take my cat to the vets. I usually praise PDSA but atm they are really letting animals down. This was the out of hours staff at Sidcup.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this pet hospital to anyone facing financial constraints and currently relying on benefits. Located in London, it offers unparalleled affordability without compromising on quality care. Unlike many other vet clinics, they are committed to fair pricing, ensuring you're never overcharged for prescription medication. What's more, their dedication to accommodating emergencies is exceptional—they consistently manage to schedule same-day appointments. The staff is not only knowledgeable but also exceptionally friendly, providing a welcoming environment for both pets and their owners.

Kieran Jones Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Went in today at half four to euthanise our beloved pet rat who was four and a half he had cancer. The vet that did the euthanization was disgusting no compassion or empathy handled him with no care and didn’t want to know did not speak to me at all not even a hello or a how are you. He picked up our beloved pet like he was picking up his phone completely manhandled our little man

Joe Murphy Posted on Google 2 years ago

Positive experience: We went late Saturday night unexpectedly and everyone was polite. The staff are attentive and friendly. There's a faulty door that needs fixing, it should open on command from reception but the staff had to keep running out to open it.

Kathy Mcguinness Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: The vets there are so good and compassionate I don’t know what I would do without them my kitten hurt his leg and they saw him ASAP and have sorted him out they are angels x

Stephanie_ By Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: They never answer phone calls when I need to book an appointment how disappointing. I’ve been on hold for 25mins and they still don’t answer. You surely can’t be that busy.

Shelby Waller Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Usually okay, people on reception are sometimes not very friendly. But this week I have been completely left in the dark about getting my dogs necessary medication in. Have made every attempt at communicating about it but have been ignored and left to worry like crazy. They are a good charity for those that can’t afford to go elsewhere but the vets aren’t very chirpy either, overall could improve in many ways. But I still donate every time I require their help because of my love for animals. They could improve on their willingness to turn away helpless pedestrians with injured wildlife too. At least take them in until a wildlife rescue can get them. As an animal charity, welfare of animals should be number one priority

John Foran Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: We brought our dog Ralph with sore paw and was seen by Poppy who is a first class vet and has a lot compassion for animals she gave Ralph a proper check over

Simon Cornish Posted on Google 2 years ago

Positive experience: Dropped our cat over here for overnight observation after this afternoons operation. Staff team are very thorough and friendly. Hope for a good night for our dear loved cat and a safe collection tomorrow.

Sam Kal Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: This PDSA is really disappointing, no care or concern shown for my cat even though she’s been suffering for so long and been in multiple times with the same issue, no investigations were made, no blood tests, nothing, just get sent away and made to buy temporary relief meds also I don’t appreciate being blamed for the cause of my cats problem when my cat is treated like the queen she is and I’ve always made her health and life a priority. The flea treatment are just cheaper versions of the proper ones like prinocate instead of advocate, and the when my cat tried that she had a really bad reaction to it, she’s had stomach issues which no one has bothered to look into but because I’m on benefits this is the best service I can expect so as soon as I can get the money together I’ll be removing my cat from here as I assume most of the great reviews on here are for more simple straight forward procedures or people who have more money to donate. I will also say every time I go I never get seen on time, one of the vets is just miserable and stinks and the reception staff just seem ti be talking amongst themselves constantly and don’t seem the friendliest so a lot of improvements need to be made even if it is a charity

Sylvia Ingram Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: I’ve been waiting for a appointment for my cat as she has a bad eye.I did form on line twice and nobody has got back to me I even sent photo off her eye.even tried contacting customer services they don’t answer basically everything on line is stupid they need put it back the way it was before

kathleen jolly Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: My baby pippa was really sick turned out she needed a operation, I've never known such a lovely place in my life they're so kind and caring for animals my baby was well looked after here and is now recovering well, she only had the op yesterday and yet is up and about and slowly getting back to her old self her wound is perfectly done I cant imagine it'll scar much at all, I'm ever so grateful for this pdsa its abit far from me but definitely going to be using them from now on for my fur babies highly recommend for anyone who is looking for a brilliant veterinary hospital, I'll be giving donations as soon as I can to this place and recommend other people do the same as they need more pet food blankets etc. Thank you so much

Katie Dowsett Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: words cannot describe how thankful we are to the pdsa. our dog quickly become dangerously ill with bladder stones and unfortunately the first surgery they did was unsuccessful, it was very touch and go and we thought we might lose him but they seemed so determined and seemed to care so much that they agreed to operate on him again and thankfully they were able to remove all stones and we were able to bring him home. The team there really do seem to care and be compassionate and I know my family will always speak highly of them

Dani Bowe Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Really friendly and nice vet practice. My 2 cats have received great care here

MissRachelSmith100 Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Absolutely terrible service . Spent half hour trying to get to talk to PDSA direct . U used to be able to get through to reception. Impossible now. Dread the thought of an emergency happening. I give every month to PDSA donations. This is now giving me thought to stop my monthly donation .

M D Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: Vet saw my pet for literally 2 minutes and seemed scared of it. Not a very friendly guy. No fresh air in waiting room , very smelly indeed. That whole 2 mins cost me £20.

Mark Shaw Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Staff where friendly and helpful, whilst we was all off enjoying Easter they was working away helping our pets stay healthy

Shannon Hamilton Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: The worst experience I’ve ever had. After taking my rabbit Roo to the emergency vets this morning for a potential blockage/gi stasis the vet did one glucose test and decided she instantly needed to be put down. No consideration or thought went behind her words… no thought of “this is someone’s beloved pet” just cold and bitter. I’m so grateful that I didn’t listen and took my rabbit straight home and waited for her normal vets to open she’s now being treated PROPERLY we were given many courses of treatments to try with euthanasia not even being a mention. Never again. I have never felt so speechless and distraught. How can you decide in less than 5 minutes that you have no other option than to put her down. You didn’t care to try a single treatment plan to help her. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING the vet in question should not be a veterinarian! I understand that she still after treatment may need to be put to sleep but that is a last resort after doing EVERYTHING THEY POSSIBLY CAN. The vet in question should NOT be allowed to deliver the harsh news as she had not an ounce of sympathy in her words. Disgusted. UPDATE: 15/03/2023 Roo is alive & well. After being told by this practice she had a blockage and needed to be put down I can confirm Roo does not/did not have a blockage. Did not need to be put down. And is alive, well & thriving. The vet who “treated” Roo should NOT have a license. To think if we’d of listened to her Roo wouldn’t be here. Absolutely disgraceful we bring our pets to you with trust. Trusting that you know what your doing. I knew the signs that Roo were giving me were point to early gi stasis and I was RIGHT. She went to her usual vets @ vets4pets they took her in for the day giving her emeprid, fibreplex, intravenous drip, scans & pain meds & she’s now home like nothing happened. Do not bring your pets here for misdiagnosis because I cannot tell you the heart ache, devastation and anxiety we have felt since this happened. So to the vet in question… thanks for nothing.

Tracy Thomas Posted on Google 3 years ago

Positive experience: The vet was lovely and kind to my puppy who had swallowed a sock. Swift service, quick resolution, and my puppy was able to come straight home. Only reason I have not given a 5 is because the practice could really do with a makeover.

Sally Slee Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: There are an excellent service and very understanding compassionate, caring and always there to help. Keep you updated on your pet and their treatment is really good.

Honest Reviewer Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: DISGUSTING TREATMENT OF ANIMALS! I called the emergency out of hours service because my cat was vomiting, unable to eat and drink and was bleeding. I was told it wasn’t an emergency and that I should ring back in the morning. First thing I called just to get this pathetic new system whereby you don’t get to speak to anyone, you have to go online to request a call back. I’m unable to go online so I’m given another number to call. I was on hold for 44 minutes just to get through to someone who took the details and said I would be called back with an appointment within 5 days!!! I explained my cat was in pain and unable to eat or drink and is bleeding, and all they said was it might be quicker than 5 days! DISGUSTING! I immediately went to a private vet who diagnosed a blockage in the urethra! If left any longer she would have died! 2 days later and my cat is on the mend but I’ve STILL not had the call back! Appealing system, disgusting neglectful organisation. You should be ashamed of yourselves!

Kimberley Clarke Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Having driven from carshalton to the hospital, over a. Hours drive, the reception staff were very cheerful and helpful. The vet was very thorough, explaining what was going to happen next. Although Ravern is still in hospital now, we are getting updates with his progress. We are aware he may not be with us much longer and appreciate the effort and lengths the staff are going to, to make him well again. Thankyou

Zapple 02 Posted on Google 3 years ago

Positive experience: Excellent work by the vets but you'll probably have to wait ages to be seen there but you don't pay extortionate vets fees here so fair does I'd say ‍

M G Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: I could not be thankful enough, between the first contact and the dental surgery it took only 15 days (was not an emergency), they were all very helpful and professional. My cat is 100% better now.

C H (Cj) Posted on Google 3 years ago

Positive experience: They helped in an emergency with my new pup. Can't thank them enough. The only issue I have is that it's hard to contact anyone unless it's an emergency and it gets so busy with the dogs and animals (some owners lack control with their pets). However, this is not the vets fault. They provide an essential service that needs extra funding and resources.

Claire Vinccini Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Very helpful staff, very friendly on the phone. We've always had a good experience when needing them

Sapphire M Posted on Google 3 years ago

Positive experience: Really great and lucky to have this PDSA close to home although they do get very busy and sometimes hard to get an appointment so best to call early or put in a request. Some vets were more helpful than others so be aware of that too. Otherwise good service and all run on donations so I always think it’s best to leave a little something

S W Posted on Google 3 years ago

Positive experience: Took a while for them to proceed my benefits application eventhough I stated I needed an emergency appointment within normal operating hours but ended up in the after hours. Reception was really nice and the vets were lovely, my cat is back to great health now.

Negative experience: Called out of hours service after explaining my dogs symptoms was advised to attend and arranged to attend within 10-15 mins .. believing my dog was/Is nearing the end ..I then to put my dog through trauma of getting into car ( she's literally unable to walk) arrived at surgery unable to obtain an answer for over 10mins when I did get an answer I was greeted by a veterinary surgeon who although was helpful diagnosed my dog at distance while still inside car ...no examination was carried out.. My dog never even left the car ! diagnosed on assumption only ... and that this should pass on its in accord (ataxia) then off he went and I was then asked for proof of benefit entitlements by assistant who then proceeded to say ' I don't know if you was told when you called but out of hours charge is £129 ) which I partly paid! ... and I was advised to make an appointment should i have further concerns ! I just feel robbed tbh no real consideration regarding my dogs age(14yrs) or symptoms leading up to this really taken into consideration... so I've now had to return home with an incontinent dog who can't walk, trying to arrange an appointment while also looking into possibility of home euthanasia costs ! ... In a nutshell £129 to have someone just visually glance at my dog sat in back of a car! ...lasting all of 5mins!

Fantastic experience: Great vets. My dog was very ill during covid and they did the upmost to help me unlike new cross pdsa who are always dismissive and rude even though I'm a great contributor. I have changed now to thamesmead and been again since the covid incident saw the same vet and was treated with care and made me feel heard.

Fantastic experience: First experience of using the PDSA. I have to say I cannot fault the service. My initial contact was via the emergency service and the female who dealt with my call was brilliant. I was driving at the time and she waited for me to find somewhere safe to talk. When attending my appointment the receptionist was dealing with another client who was having issues. I was impressed with her polite assertiveness, seeing that i was waiting she requested that the gentleman take a seat. I feel extremely lucky and privileged that this service is available to those who are on low incomes or benefits. Thank you so much for seeing my beloved Kevin so quickly.

Negative experience: Terrible place the people that work there don't care for pets they told.me to bring my dog in for a operation I brung her 8 in the morning I asked them for a phone call to let me know anything as I Was really worrying about leaving her she's nine and does not like being away from me and especially not in a cage I got a call 5.30 to say they ain't doing the operation and need to reschedule so instead of ringing me earlier during the day so I could come get her and save both me and her the stress they leave it til half 5 she hadn't eaten since the night before or drank anything it's disgusting. And trying to contact them was so difficult I had no way of getting in contact. Such a bad service they provide the staff who work there have a attitude and couldn't give a dam about your dogs feelings or yourself.
