- Inconsistent Service: Several clients have reported experiences of rushed appointments, where thorough checks were either not conducted or left out entirely, causing dissatisfaction.

Overall, it remains a recommended choice for many pet owners in the area, especially for those with exotic animals.
Services
Ashleigh Veterinary Centre, Chorlton Road: Reviews
Fantastic experience: I've been going to Ashleigh Vets for more than 30 years and the service has been mostly favourable. Costs are always rising but still the practice is highly recommended.
Positive experience: Very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They gave our tortoise his first health check, listening to our concerns, and reassured us that all was well. They took good care of him and gave us hints and tips. We are happy to have him registered with them.
Thank you Sue
Fantastic experience: Everyone in this practice - from reception staff to nurses and doctors - has been nothing but wonderful with me and my cat. They have always been understanding of my anxiety and concerns and also saw my cat on short notice a few times. They provide comprehensive care without "upselling' or recommending the most expensive treatment when not deemed necessary. They are very professional yet compassionate with my cat and myself ;) Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Elisa and Katerina have been absolutely amazing, the entire team seem very supportive and have given our puppy all the care he has needed, cant thank them enough
Negative experience: Absolute scam. Went to get a flea and worming treatment at the Chorlton vets. Charged a £70 consultation fee for them to weigh my dog... Nothing else, just weigh him and then charged £65 for the flea and worming treatment. Never asked for the consultation, I could have told them my dogs weight myself. They haven't updated the place in 20 years and the vets themselves seem to rush you in and out. What are they charging so much for? Definitely do not recommend. I will be registering my dogs elsewhere.
Positive experience: Young vet professional, patient & friendly. BUT down for car park & reception area
Hello Finn thank you for your rating. If you wanted to speak to us directly about your concerns regarding our car park or reception area, please do get in contact
Negative experience: Extremely poor and unsafe experience. I have had repeated negative experiences with this practice. Some of the most serious issues include: • My dog was prescribed the wrong medication, which was later confirmed by another vet to be harmful for his condition. • During one appointment, my dog picked up a used needle in his mouth because the sharps bin was not secured properly. This is a serious safety failure. • Since moving to a different veterinary practice, my dog has been taken off most of the medication Ashleigh Vets prescribed, as the new vet felt it was not appropriate for long-term use. He is now on just one tablet a day instead of six, and the improvement in his health, energy, and personality has been incredible. Ashleigh vets are only after 1 thing £££ Ashleigh Vets have apologised, but I do not feel this is enough given the severity of what happened. These were not minor mistakes — they put my dog at real risk. I will be submitting a full report to the RCVS, as I believe this practice needs to be formally investigated.
Negative experience: There is growing evidence that Ashleigh Vets is increasingly overcharging for its services and medications. Such a shame as this is a trusted vet practice!! Teeth clean for our dog quoted at around £450!!!
Negative experience: I brought my young, visibly distressed puppy to Ashleigh Vets on 23rd December for a health check and to discuss vaccination options. The "consultation" lasted 1-2 minutes with no weighing, no measurements, just a brief touch and comment that she looked "slightly underweight" - no proper health check at all, and no mention of how much the consultation would be. We were charged £70 for this inadequate service that provided no useful information. After the very brief “consultation”, the reception staff ignored us for several minutes while we stood holding a small, frightened puppy. They also tried to serve someone who arrived after me first, but they told the reception that we were first. I wrote a formal complaint email. Instead of apologizing or acknowledging the poor service, the practice manager deflected all blame and made excuses. They hid behind technicalities about booking systems and staff roles rather than addressing the core issue: a distressed puppy was handled poorly, and we received virtually no service for £70. Ashleigh Vets showed no accountability and made no gesture of goodwill. They're more interested in defending their actions than treating clients and animals with basic compassion. I cannot recommend this practice. There are better veterinary clinics in the area who will actually care about you and your pet.
Fantastic experience: Wouldn’t take my pets anywhere else! They’ve been taking care of my dog since a puppy and did a fantastic job with her spay surgery, taking great care of her when she was extremely grumpy afterwards! They also treated the death of my guinea pig with incredible compassion, providing with some lovely keepsakes - a small vial with her fur and a moulding of her paw prints. And they followed up with a condolences card in the post. These little gestures make a huge difference. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Always a great service, have been using them for years.
Thank you Peter
Fantastic experience: I would like to thank all the stuff for being very friendly and professional... I had a constipating bearded dragon and I called them up and they saw me the same day... And give me some laxatives to give to Spike ... He is all better now.. thank you very much
Fantastic experience: I was parked outside of AVC, I’ve been in before as an emergency for a particular brand of food. And they where kind enough to oblige.
Thank you Ayo. We are always happy to help
Fantastic experience: Polite reception staff, appointment on time. Excellent care from vetinary practitioner. Wide range of products available. Satisfactory visit.
Fantastic experience: I loved it because I felt and saw that she cared about my dog. She checked him with so much love and helped me a lot. I left very happy. From the reception staff to the vet, everyone was amazing. I felt great.
Fantastic experience: Maria was brilliant thank you very much.
Thank you for your kinds words and the cute photo!
Fantastic experience: we take our cat mildred to this surgery and they are absolutely fantastic! highley recommend this surgery.
Thank you for your review Chrissy and the kind words. Much appreciated
Fantastic experience: Friendly team, onsite parking, provide great advice for pets wellbeing. This is an all in one vet practice for all your pets including exotics (do check before taking a tiger for a health check!) Visit was for yearly vaccination, performed differently to another practice with less stress on the dog, virtually painless and the vet and dog were best of friends by the end of the visit.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic vets. Rebecca is a star. Receptionists are friendly and polite. Would highly recommend.
Thank you so much for your kind words.
Fantastic experience: One of my budgies developed a lump by his beak. The lovely lady vet diagnosed a cyst and explained treatment and costs. This was in the form of a sugical procedure and medication to be administered at home. The risks of surgery were explained and suggested that my other budgie came along as comfort. The nursing staff explained, on the day of surgery, all what would be happening and the after care the budgie would receive. They also explained how I should administer his medication. Can't fault the veterinary practice and would use again.
Negative experience: Unfortunately, the service I received was substandard. The veterinarian had misdiagnosed our pet and was untreated which then ultimately leading to it passing away. The vets isn’t the most clean place, with a filthy reception it felt like sitting in an MOT centre. Extremely expensive, given the treatment wasn’t the best. This vets might be good if you have a cat or dog, but if you have any other animals and you value your pets life then please do your research and look elsewhere. The staff were lovely enough but didn’t relay diagnosis or problems well, when we asked questions they had to keep going back and asking the vet instead of being able to speak to the vet directly.
Fantastic experience: Honestly the best Veterinary practice in the Manchester area for exotic animals! I have had 2 lumpectomies performed on 2 pets Rats of mine at this practice, and both times the cost for fully explained and the particular Vet Aidan kindly called me immediately after both procedures to update me throughly on their findings and actions. For the second Rat, I had some small post op complications as she kept tearing out her stitches So, I called Ashleigh’s Vet up and they got me in to see a Vet within the hour! She required sedation and a stitch removal, plus some Activon (honey) to help the incision heal and they only charged me approx £7 for the honey and no additional costs for their actions as it is all part of their post op care - I find this extremely rare for Vets to be so personable and caring for their patients individually! Unfortunately, my first Rat Cookie that had a lumpectomy last December had to be euthanised in June this year as the lumps had developed in multiples areas meaning the condition had metastasised. They offered me medication a couple months prior to putting her asleep to help reduce the growth rate of the tumour. Then after she sadly got put to sleep, they gave me foot prints and fur as a little memorial and memory of her. I received a card in the post too a couple days later. All these things made a very sad and difficult experience that little bit more manageable! I can’t speak highly of them enough, especially if you have Rats or exotics pets as they are incredibly knowledge compared to other Vets, very transparent on their advice and prices, and support you thoroughly through the process!! You never feel pressured to make decisions on the spot and there has never been pressure to spend additional money, as they are very understanding of people’s circumstances ⭐️ The picture attached was gorgeous Cookie x
Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend this vets enough. From all staff being pleasant and approachable, to the genuine care and concern everyone there showed towards our bearded dragon, I will always recommend them for reptiles or other
Fantastic experience: I took my cat and dog to Ashleigh's on two separate nights. I cannot praise the two vets that I saw highly enough. Their manner was delightful and their thoroughness in dealing with any questions I had was exemplary. Full marks on your service from me, guys!
Fantastic experience: Friendly helpful practice Managed to fit me in at short notice for treatment of son’s turtle. Explained options and costs well. Not my usual vets, but will register any future pets with the practice
Fantastic experience: I was recommended Ashleigh Vets in Chorlton for my rabbit . It was a 50 mile trip but well worth it. The clinic was busy and lively but not stressful for animal. I had a list of bunny health concerns and was reassured with practical help and advice. Ben wasn't used to such attention and was a little nervous but he is now a very happy bunny.
Fantastic experience: Excellent veterinarian practice friendly compassionate can’t fault it highly recommend especially for birds
Thank you Caroline for your kind words
Fantastic experience: Been bringing my pets here for years, they are a good safe choice for your pet. Excellent vets, excellent staff.
Fantastic experience: We cannot thank Ashleigh Veterinary Centre enough for the incredible care they gave our little Boo Radley (a 10-year-old Chorkie) this morning. I phoned at 8am because Boo was struggling to breathe, and they told us to come straight in. As soon as we arrived, Adele at reception took Boo from my arms immediately and got him seen to without delay. The vets — including Bushra — worked quickly and compassionately to get Boo breathing comfortably again, and their calm professionalism made such a frightening experience so much easier. We also met a lovely student nurse from Ballymena, who helped prepare medication for Boo’s journey home to Oxford and was incredibly kind and reassuring throughout. Adele, in particular, was exceptional — caring, supportive, and so understanding. Phil and I are beyond grateful for everything the team did today. Truly first-class care from a team that clearly loves what they do.
Negative experience: Our Pet Corn Snake, who was a member of our family for 12 years, had stopped eating for around 4+ weeks. I know this can be common with snakes and a lot of the time, it isn’t anything nefarious. We decided to bring him in for a check up with Rebecca. She noticed as well as with us that his bones were clicking a little bit but there wasn’t anything that she could observe that was cause for too much concern. She suspected it may have been Arthritis, so recommended we try and dose him on Tramadol for 10 days, just in case he was in pain and that was making him not want to eat. She gave another option of running scans and blood tests but said they’d need to inject around the heart, which could be a risk. We weren’t told any risks from using the Tramadol, so both agreed to do that first. We didn’t medicate him on the Wednesday Evening, we waited until Thursday Evening. We did as instructed and gave him the exact measurements of medication. Within seconds he seemed to be very doped and we kept an eye on him. The first night he was breathing a little heavier and was generally not himself at all. He was moving about a bit, so we thought he’d be okay and it was just him getting used to the medication. By the Friday morning, looking at his body he was curled up and taking deep breaths so we thought the Tramadol must have relaxed him, but he was doped up quite strongly. So we gave him the second dose in the evening on Friday, thinking it would be okay. The next morning on Saturday, he was breathing even heavier and opening his mouth to try and breathe, yawning and he still wouldn’t eat but also stopped drinking. I led him to water and his head would just droop in the water and I had to take him out immediately because he would drown from being so out of it. On that same day, we decided maybe it’s best not to give him anymore because we had a feeling he wasn’t having a good time with it. By 9pm, he looked like he had stopped breathing. His whole body was warm, so we took him out quickly to sit in front of a fan to cool him down, his body was limp. He took one last tiny breath and we felt his heart quicken then 15 minutes later it stopped. He’d died in our arms and we don’t know what had happened but it seemed he couldn’t breathe after the Tramadol. We emailed the vet and arranged a phone call today but she wasn’t very empathetic or apologetic apart from the usual standard pleasantries. She wasn’t rude or nasty in any way but seemed more concerned with trying to shift any blame from herself. She said him doing the big breaths was what snakes do when they are dying. This has absolutely destroyed us because I am certain that he would still be with us today if we never gave him that medication. It has completely made me and my partner a mess and I don’t know when we will recover from this, if ever. We had to get an emergency cremation on the Sunday and this doesn’t feel real still. I said to Rebecca on the phone, the least you could do is refund me the amount you charged for the appointment and medication that killed our pet. She said she would come back to me and then I got a very corporate email later basically saying no. I hope anyone who reads this, please considers other Practices before taking their pet to this place. I of course can’t and will not ever be able to prove that their actions led to the death of my pet but it is my strong belief that it was.
Fantastic experience: It’s a decent vet clinic. I had my first visit there yesterday and they looked after us very well.
Thank you Mira for your kind words
Fantastic experience: Actual veterinarian’s that actually love animals. Staff seem to try and do everything they can to help animals feel safe and comfortable in the environment.
Thank you we do indeed try our best to make your visit as stress free as possible
Fantastic experience: Great team of vets and reception staff and nurses Kind and caring in the most difficult of times of your pets life and you. Thank you for your support
Thank you so much for your review Tracey
Fantastic experience: Very nice people at there, my little pal budgie Luigi had an appointment but the poor little fella didn't make it as we got there. They sent me a card in the post . It said please accept our heart felt thoughts at this very sad time, from all at Ashley's vets. That was really nice of them and I appreciate it because that budgie ment a lot to me he was my little pal . Thank you all at Ashley's vets that was very kind of you .
Negative experience: Last year my hound spent the last hours of his life suffering in agony because the out-of-hours vet nurse misdiagnosed his broken leg as a sprain and sent us home. I spent several distressing hours trying to comfort him then finally took him to an emergency vet hospital, where they gave the correct prognosis. By that time he had haemorrhaged and euthanasia was the only option for him. One of the most harrowing experiences of my life.
Fantastic experience: I have a baby budgie with birth defects I rang and they got me in super quick. They were so pleasant on the phone. No problems at all. The place itself was welcoming and staff were friendly and professional. They made me feel at ease. They took real good care of baby Davey and was so gentle with him. I didn’t feel I was taking up too much time with them asking so many questions, and the vet was so lovely. I would recommend to anyone who has pets to go here. They really do love animals and they see exotic pets too. All in all I know if Davey needs to go again they will make him feel at home
Negative experience: If there was a -5 that's how I would rate Ashley vets, after my experience I would never use this vets again! Like every other vet's they play on animal lovers emotions and charge fortunes for the privilege, but this vets clearly has no clue about birds even though they advertise that they do, very poor.
Fantastic experience: A great surgery with great staff. I had my budgie euthanased last Monday the 4th of August .The staff are so supportive.Thankyou for the beautiful tribute to Timmy with the beautiful card and forget me nots .Now planted ..Thankyou all ever so much.
Fantastic experience: Ashleigh vets are the only vets I will use for my pet rats even though is well out of the way for me they have so much knowledge and the price is fair
Fantastic experience: Attended with a friend, they had to take a couple of cats in for a check-up and flea-ing. Reception staff and vet were helpful and were more than happy to answer our questions. Vet was really good handling the animals.
Negative experience: I've only just managed to write this as im devastated but on Tuesday this week my 13 and a half year old dog started having breathing difficulties we rang the out of hours emergency and left messages and no one rang us back it got that bad we had to find an emergency 24 practice to help us unfortunately there was nothing they could do and she had to be put down which I cant describe. It's now Saturday and they still haven't rang us i have another dog and will be definitely be taken out of this place
Fantastic experience: Been with Ashleigh vets for years, first with my snake and then my dog and they've always been exceptional. Reception staff, nurses, vets and surgeons are top tier every day. Had to have emergency surgery for my pup here and the care and support we both received was nothing short of outstanding. Rate them highly for anyone with pets!
Fantastic experience: My pet turtle wasn't eating anything so I phoned this vets and got told to take him down. The receptionists where very helpful, plenty of space in the waiting room, plenty of information. The vet who looked at my turtle was very professional and understood what was up with him even though he didn't open his mouth for her so I had to do it. I thought he might of been blind but she assured me he wasn't,she told me what to do and even put fresh hot water in his container. Another vet explained how to give him his medication and what doeses to give him. I thought this vets was very professional and helped me very much and said any problems to contact them 24/7 which I thought was fantastic. Very good vets Thank you 20.06.25
Fantastic experience: Amazing vets, incredible staff, so helpful with everything. When I had to have my guinea pig put down, they did little paw prints for me and then even sent me a card that arrived 2days later saying sorry for my loss. Always reassured me whenever I've had to leave them there for tests or anything, you can tell they actually care.
Fantastic experience: Ashleigh Vets has been consistently good with our family, their exotic pets specialist really looked after out turtle when she was sick and educated us on how to administer her medication. They also did a fantastic job looking after our doggy Tofu, they understood she was a reactive dog and helped arranged appointments with us so she could be seen as smoothly as possible. As mentioned above, the standout thing here is the education side, they really take the time to explain why things have happened, what the action plan is and what the next steps are. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Took my macaw Amber here for the 1st time to be microchipped and they were fantastic. It was completely stress free for her, she was laughing on the way through to be sedated would definitely recommend them to anyone requiring exotic vets
Negative experience: I took my canary into the vets. The staff were lovely and the fact they allowed me to go in on a Saturday morning without prebooking was appreciated. However, at the appointment I told the vet about his eye being closed and she mentioned it was dry but should get better with the antibiotics she was going to give me. I called the following day as she said call or email with images if you need me to have a look so we can monitor his progress. I told the staff that he had in fact got a swollen eye and cannot see with it which means he isn’t eating and could I please have her email so I could show her and she can pass it onto the vet as agreed. She mentioned if I bought him in I’d get charged Sunday fees even though this was in relation to the actual original illness I went for the previous day. They didn’t get back to me until the day after to say she will put me on hold and ask the vet as the one I saw wasn’t in, came back to say to bring him in and he can be hospitalised or wait until the following day until the vet I saw was in and they can call me back. They never called back the following day and that evening, my toddlers little bird died. I know business is business and you may think the bird was dying anyway but it’s all about the lack of service that was provided. Had someone took my concerns seriously or at least said, bring him in let’s do a follow up, either don’t pay or pay at a discounted fare as it was literally the day after the appointment, we potentially wouldn’t be here. Had they gotten back to me when they said they would, then we wouldn’t be here. And I’m not talking about the bird being alive, it’s more of we as a family would have the closure and acceptance of the situation that we needed. It was a 5 min maximum appointment after waiting over an hour to see the vet and the canary died 3 days later. All they care about is money, bring your pet, pay a ton, don’t feel better, bring the pet again to pay again. No one cares and you can clearly tell it’s all about business for them. You may think it’s just a bird they’re bound to die sooner but, he didn’t deserve to die with the neglect and ignorance that we received from this place. I would not recommend to anyone to go here that have exotic pets especially birds. Now he’s died, all I think about is, what if I took him back, what if they called me so that I could speak to the vet again, what if, what if… do not come at me for my review as this is my opinion following the experience I had and I have the right to share it!
Negative experience: Had our puppy checked out for the first time. We booked a consultation for a health check. The check was done within 2 minutes. Eyes, Teeth and gums weren't checked. Joint and mobility assessment was not conducted. No report was given. Would not of minded the price, if a proper check was conducted.
Fantastic experience: We can’t praise vet Lourdes enough. She was amazing with our tortoise Winston turtel we were scared we may have needed to put him down but we are so glad she gave us some solutions that have gladly worked she is an amazing exotics vet as she talked us through what she was doing we honestly can’t thank her enough for great service from Winston’s owners
Fantastic experience: I have used the Avian Vet 3 seperate occasions with my Budgies Creamy and Custard both times the birds were in distress. Creamy had a painful leg due to badly fitting leg ring from breeder and previously with an infection and Custard was taken in with severe breathing difficulties. Both were seen on the same day as they became ill. The staff are always excellent Reception, Nurses and Vets. I would highly recommend this practice.
Fantastic experience: Lovely vet centre and lovely, caring staff. Go that extra mile, take the time to feed back. Thoroughly recommend.
Negative experience: I would never be able to recommend this place. They are 2 for 2 on a kill rate with pets I have taken in healthy with minor concerns. The last one I repeatedly asked the vet to stop handling my pet as I could see they were getting stressed. Ignored and instant heart attack. Then was asked "would you like me to get rid of it for you". It? Disgusting. Yes, I did complain but got a cut and paste letter back which they had not even bothered to erase the cut and paste marks on. I now make sure that if anyone asks about it I tell them my experience.
Fantastic experience: This visit was luckily just a routine vaccination trip (plus a full health check included) for all of my bunnies. I'd not met newer vet Mariah, she was great with my gang. Plus I got a discount of 20% on the jabs as I'd got 3 floofs. Good to see the practice now accepting Klarna too - pay in 3!
Fantastic experience: We were incredibly worried about our boa due to him not eating and excessively salivating and we were recommended this vets by two separate vets and called and were able to get an extremely prompt appointment and we cannot praise the reptile vet enough for not only his calm/calming demeanour but also his knowledge and advice. Due to him and his not only looking after our snake whilst there but after care advice we still have our gorgeous boy. Thank you
Fantastic experience: Lovely friendly clean veterinary practice, my guinea pig developed heart disease suddenly at 7yo & he was treated with tablets. They soon had him running around again & I had an extra 6w with him to come to terms with his illness. He passed peacefully in his sleep no suffering & am very grateful for their marvellous care
Fantastic experience: I called the clinic as we suspected that our cat could have a urine infection. They said that they would need to see him the same day to treat him urgently. After getting them there they attended to him and sorted him out. The duty of care has always been second to none, thank you to Chloe and the team who answered my numerous calls and emails and explained to me step by step of what was taking place. Thanks everyone
Fantastic experience: Lovely staff on reception doing Sunday emergency service, got us in with nurse to check our dog was ok when she had some post spay surgery bleeding. Faith the nurse was brilliant and put our minds at rest.
Fantastic experience: We use Ashleigh Vets for our two guinea pigs. After finding out both had ovarian cysts, Elisa suggested a spay. I was really reluctant, but Elisa (Gonzales) was fantastic in allaying my fears. I am pleased to report the two guinea pigs have recovered beautifully, despite some initial complications. Thank you so much for your care and compassion.
Negative experience: All I can say about Ashleigh Vets is care more about how much money they can get out of you more than think about your pet. The cost of medication is a rip off. My parrot was given 2 sets of medication to go home with at a cost of £65 to which both medicines can be bought from a chemist. One of the tablets Milk Thistle can be purchased at £5 yet I was charged £44.82 for 2 tablets which were to be dissolved in water yet 200ml bottles can be purchased at £7.99 this is in liquid form. For 5 antibiotics I was charged £20.42. So if this isn’t being ripped off I don’t know what is. Also for a blood test £227. I was told that my bill would be around £270, but when I picked my parrot up I was told the bill then was £333.04. I only had £270 to pay the bill as I had used every penny I had to get my parrot home. I was made to feel embarrassed as I couldn’t afford to pay the rest until a week later. I used Ashleigh vets over 15 years ago. It used to be a very friendly practice but you are not even acknowledged now. They wanted to xray my parrot at cost of about £175. I would pay my last penny for my parrot to be better but I just thought as soon as you take them for anything £ signs are more important than your sick animal. Don’t think I will ever take another parrot to this vets.
Negative experience: I am so glad my dog is not a patient at Ashleigh vets. The receptionists are unhelpful, unapproachable, and significantly lack customer care. I collected some medication for my friend's dog - no welcoming smiles or a hello from the 2 receptionists, no eye contact just a blunt "yes"..as if to say 'what do you want'. I would hate to think how they interact with patients owners when there's an emergency or the animal is approaching end of life care. Quick to take your money though! When asked if the costs could be added to my friends dogs account rather than me paying, she simply replied "no you must pay". Thankfully, my vets practice probably has one of the friendliness approachable helpful and engaging front of house staff and if someone else collects my dogs medication there no problem putting the costs on to my account! Very disappointed to have experienced such poor interaction.
Negative experience: The fees charged by this veterinary practice are simply outrageous, far exceeding what I’ve experienced elsewhere. Its often double compared to for instance Animal Trust. This level of pricing feels exploitative, especially when medications here seem to cost nearly double compared to other vets. All this while getting a lower quality care. It’s also concerning to see how frequently vets at this practice are being replaced. Why is there such high turnover? It doesn’t inspire confidence in the stability of the service or the care being provided. Adding to this, it’s a shareholder-driven company, and the focus appears to be meeting financial targets for those in the background, rather than prioritizing the well-being of animals. While I understand the costs involved in running a veterinary practice, these prices are excessive. I genuinely hope the government considers regulating veterinary fees to prevent practices like this from taking advantage of pet owners. I’ll be reaching out to the RCVS to look into this further, as it’s hard to understand why similarly qualified vets charge so much less. This level of profiteering is deeply disappointing.
Fantastic experience: Very knowledgeable and friendly with me and my pet rats. Each time I've lost a rat they have sent a card which is very thoughtful. Highly recommend for exotics.
Positive experience: Credit to the vet aidan who saw my bunny, he was gentle and didn't rush the examination and offered advice on the best diet for my bunny.. however I always find the reception staff quite unfriendly and not helpful when answering calls.
Fantastic experience: Ferret’s are exotic pets- who knew. Had a nightmare finding a Vets that would help us with 2 bundles of Frisky joy but Adele was able to fit us in for a consultation and I am extremely grateful. She is a credit to the business and was amazingly helpful. I initially got Vets4pets Stockport to look at our Ferrets and while competent, their pricing structure seems to have advised by the Mafia
Fantastic experience: Amazing. It's always a struggle to find Ferret friendly environments but this particular vets have a Ferret specialist and she is fantastic. She handles our ferrets with love and care and is extremely knowledgeable in the area. Thank you Lourdes. The desk staff and other vets have always reacted very positively to our fur babies as well, which is nice! Excellent communication via email and phone, can't complain at all!
Negative experience: I'd give them minus stars if I could. One of the worst veterinary practices I have ever visited. Imagine a vets4pets run by the people of petmedics. The time I spent there with my animal was one of the biggest regrets and biggest waste of times in my life. They didn't tell me a single thing of note other than their fee. Do yourself a favour and find a veterinary surgery that cares.
Negative experience: Extortionate fees comparatively! Absolutely taking advantage of people by charging what they want. How they warrant 62 quid for a consultation fee is beyond belief. This means if a 5 minute consultation costs that, they'd potentially be earning 700 pounds an hour. Medication seems to be around twice the price of other vets from my experience. I don't care how good the vets are, money is THE main motivation here and animals are secondary.Totally disgusting and should be ashamed. I really want to believe the government will start capping fees for vets as I wonder why equally as skilled vets do not charge this amount. In fact I'm going to look into this myself by contacting the RCVS. I get that running a vets is expensive but seriously....!
Negative experience: After booking a half day off work I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment. Despite the surgery being virtually empty I waited 50 minutes before deciding I wouldn't wait any longer. I wonder if I had been 50 minutes late these people would be amused? They obviously don't need my custom or money so I'm taking my pets elsewhere for their care. Signs were there last time to be honest, vet was trying to get me to agree to a full body scan for our cat at £1200. We've all seen in the media about overcharging and pushing unwarranted treatments on people, these people tick all the boxes. Before Covid this vets were very good to deal with, standard and customer service have dropped through the floor. Sad really.
Negative experience: I came to check on my cockatiels wing which was then found to be dislocated. i drove there 6 times because of the lack of communication coming from everyone, as well as not being able to get a correct price sorted out meaning i had to drive back. My parrot went through antiseptics which is quite a big risk for such small creatures which made us worried. i later found out that my bird wasn’t being looked after and got her bandages wet meaning she had to get them taken off and had to go through antiseptics again which was horrifying.
Negative experience: Awful rip-off with a clueless receptionist who had no idea at all. They wanted to charge me £62 just to register before any treatment at all. Medivet just charged me for 2 tapeworm tablets administered by a suitably qualified vet for EU travel. Avoid at all costs!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic vet surgery, saw my pet quickly and provided a thorough invaluable service, can't thank them enough. They were polite friendly and helpful from the first phone call to the last. We saw the exotic pet specialist late on a Friday and she helped us with our hamster and was so good with him. We aren't from the area and we're new clients but we got all the help we needed. Will definitely use them again.
Fantastic experience: Bought my ginger tom Jonesy in for his annual vaccinations, Katerina has such a lovely manner, we felt so looked after when we had additional questions , all the staff here are lovely! Ill always trust them
Negative experience: This vets is run on fear and guilt. Had my dog recently getting spayed. They found a mass the size of a “grape” wouldn’t tell me if the mass was growing inside the body or under the skin. Had to ask twice. It was in fact under the skin. Then I asked where exactly was it located. All the nurse said it’s the glands it’s the glands! I had to remind her I’m not a vet and needed to explain in laymen terms where it was located. Anyways they wanted another £500 I said no and show me this “grape sized” mass. She guides me to it and Turns out it’s the size of a less that a garden pea, and when I said to the senior nurse that’s a pea size not a grape size she threw her hands up in the air like a child, so not only do they lie about the size of things to make it sound a lot worse than it actually is. And when actually questioned the senior nurse throw her hands up in the air and said it’s too hard to be a cyst. Well every single cyst I’ve had or my dogs have had they’ve been incredibly hard to the touch. I’ve ran my dog walking business in London for 8 years and dealt with countless vets over the years! Never have I come across a vets such as this! The surgeon WIll did a great job it’s just the attitudes for the nurses that’s shocking
Fantastic experience: Great service for exotic pets. My Guinea pig had hay poke and an infected eye. She was seen to within the day and given medication for it. Cleared up in a week. I would recommend this pets to anyone with exotic pets, this isn’t our first time visiting and they are helpful every time. The staff team are great and the vets are very gentle with our beloved pets.
Fantastic experience: I used Ashleigh Vets in Chorlton for four years for my pet tortoise, Floyd. He sadly passed away and during that time, the nurses and vets handled the situation very well and made that very difficult time as painless as they could. They even sent me a 'sorry for your loss' card and managed the cremation and handover of his ashes very well. Thanks to Ashleigh Vets for seeing both of us through a very tough time. I will always appreciate it.
Fantastic experience: Best vet for rats, and presumably cats and dogs given the amount of them I see when in the waiting room. It's a little costly but I've never once doubted the advice or ability of the staff and they've never given me reason to doubt. Always treated respectfully and kindly
Fantastic experience: We had our kitten neutered here. The staff at reception were warm and friendly. The nurse gave us information about the procedure before they took our kitten. After the procedure the clinic staff rang us to give us peace of mind thst the op was successful and when we went to pick her up we were given aftercare advice and medicine with the kind offer of calling if we had any concerns. There's car parking on site, and the clinic was clean. Many thanks to all the staff, highly recommended.
Fantastic experience: Thank you for caring for Norman as he came to the end of his life. The care they gave him and to us was nothing more than outstanding. We're heartbroken and miss him so much. He gave us nearly 19 years of love and affection.
Negative experience: I have been a customer at this vets for over 20 years. I must say that since the pandemic this practice has gone down hill. The receptionists tend to be rude, inexperienced and unprofessional. It is also very difficult to get appointments when you need them and there is always a constant rotation of vets which means you never see the same vet. I decided to leave this practice as others nearby were recommended to me. I wrote an email to Ashleigh’s to inform them of my decision to leave and to request the transfer of medical records over to the new surgery. After over 20 years of custom all I got was a curt short email back to confirm my request. This just says it all and confirms my decision to move to another practice.
Fantastic experience: The reception team were all lovely and welcoming on our first visit to the practice. We saw a vet named Federica who was lovely/smiley and really knowledgeable in helping my bearded dragon, thank you!
Fantastic experience: Excellent caring compassionate staff, well organised and professional. Gave us lots of treatment opinions, weren’t pushy, explained everything very well. Very convenient drop off service
Negative experience: There is something very mercenary about this vets' practice. Their prices are higher than other vets and they always seem to be on the lookout to charge for extra things. We also had an incident when they charged us twice for the same item, which I only realised when I checked my bank statement. They seem to care more about money than about service or the animals they treat.
Negative experience: Vet was extremely short when we took our puppy in for his second jabs, rushed unpleasant experience. She stabbed the jab in and our dog was yelping so badly, a small warning would have been nice, it was heartbreaking. Records for my puppy still haven't been shared with our new vets either so haven't been able to book him in for worming or flea treatments or health checks which isn't ideal for a 7 month old puppy. Would also like to add that I rang for an emergency when my puppy swallowed a wasp when he was 3 months old and they rudely wouldn't help or even advise what we should do, awful awful awful - so sad that a vet seems to only care about money and not helping the pets.
Fantastic experience: Cannot rate Ashleigh Vets high enough. The staff are fantastic! The vet we saw was the specialist/avian vet. She was concise and caring without fault. Honestly if you have any issues with your animals or even wildlife that has been injured, please go here ✨✨
Fantastic experience: Looked after my sick cat with a personal and empathetic manner. Transparent about pricing and options and what could go wrong. Made a difficult time much more manageable by being lovely people with great big hearts who understand your cat is part of the family.
Fantastic experience: Oskar my cat is treated by Matt. Matt is a brilliant vet. I can't recommend Matt enough. Matt is very knowledgeable but remains easy to talk too. I feel confident with what ever he recommends for Oskar as It's always in his best interests.
Fantastic experience: They have always been great, professional and friendly. But I felt I should write my appreciation of them after they helped us deal with the unexpected passing (due to a fall) of our rabbit. They were sympathetic and helpful and they provided a post-mortem and cremation. They even sent a “sorry for your loss” card through the post, which just shows that they go that extra step for you. Thank you to all the staff there.
Negative experience: I cannot express how upset I am with this practice. I feel that the staff want to get the most amount of money possible whilst extolling the need for people to look after their animals. They diagnose the problem, charge you 300 pounds or more to say the problem is what they thought it was and then charge 500 pounds for more investigations. They have made me feel I cannot ever afford a pet again. 300 pounds for a blood test??
Negative experience: Very mediocre, expensive as vets go and they will take weeks to process any insurance claim. The staff aren’t particularly friendly apart from a couple, and the phone line is always busy, they have taken their appointment booker off their website currently so it’s impossible to book an appointment unless you are happy to wait on hold for 20 mins. Also they prescribed medication and made us come in to get it with a huge mark up, what would cost between 3-6 pounds online, they charged us £30 for, not really fair, obviously quite money hungry, they even ask if you have insurance presumably so they can feel less guilty for overcharging lol. So we’ve decided to register somewhere else.
Negative experience: Well clearly on cats org website, their clinic name pops up for being a part of the male cat neutering scheme (£10 instead of £80) but the rude receptionist lied on my face that their branch is not the one which is participating in the scheme. If their branch is not participating then they should not try to advertise on the specific website. Not happy for paying the full price as this is the time when these vets needs to help the pet owners. I will not be visiting them again as they made me wait extra for picking up my cat and I had to pay extra for my Uber for pet
Fantastic experience: I don't usually write reviews but I couldn't not in this case. My partner and I moved up to Manchester two years ago with our two guinea pigs and signed up to Ashleigh Vets as soon as we'd settled here. One of the guinea pigs, Raisin, has had a lot of health issues in recent years and over the past two years we have spent a lot of time at Ashleigh. The vets, nurses and reception staff have always been welcoming and kind, and when we've had emergencies the practice was always able to fit us in last minute. Our beautiful Raisin passed away last week and it has been extremely difficult however this morning I found a lovely card from the team at Ashleigh Vets and it was really lovely to receive. I wouldn't ever hesitate to recommend Ashleigh Vets to anyone, they have always made us feel so safe in their expertise and their kindness, and always treated our Raisin with respect and love. Thank you to everyone at Ashleigh, the work you do doesn't go unrecognised.
Negative experience: This once good vet has declined beyond repair in recently months. My last 4/5 appointments have had me waiting up to an hour past the appointment time, but should you turn up late they immediately cancel the appointment. This could be forgiven but they level care has gone down so much, I put this down to staff turn over, all the good vets have left and you get a new different vet just qualified each time you visit. Avoid this place, they are much better places in south Manchester.
Fantastic experience: Very welcoming and friendly environment , the employees were fully trained to handle the case in the most professional way. My cat came back to my lap perfectly healthy and happy. It is so nice to leave and know that your pet is in the best hands! Thank you so much for existing and taking such good care of our dear friends!
Fantastic experience: Excellent service , friendly environment for me and my cat. I have preferred it many times and will continue to do so, because I always leave fully informed and satisfied. The Vet who took over the incident, took excellent care of my cat and I received a happy, joyful cat. Thanks to the clinic and Nikoleta for always giving the necessary attention and even more that is needed !
Fantastic experience: Great local vets, all the staff are super friendly and helpful. Matt the vet is very gentle and caring with animals - he even helped me with claiming the costs through my pet insurance. Couldn't recommend enough
Fantastic experience: Took my cat I rescued for neutering and microchipping they were really helpful and because he was a rescue cat protection charity covered most of the cost for neutering. I asked one of the veterinary nurses if she could cut his claws aswell and this was done at no extra charge left him with them in the morning picked him up at 6
Negative experience: I’m writing on behalf of my boyfriend and our feathered friend. The reception service here is diabolical. Every time you do eventually get through the call line, they hang up on you immediately. If you call the emergency service line they sigh at you as if there’s no point trying to save your friend. It’s disgusting behaviour from the closest avian vet there is to our boy, yet everyone else seems to have glowing praise. Considering changing vets all together so someone can take us seriously. Appalled.
Fantastic experience: Staff are friendly and understanding. Recently there with my kitten and everything was explained clearly. They cared for my 2 elderly cats last year and treated them with love and kindness before they passed away
Fantastic experience: After our beloved family hamster fell I’ll we took him to the vets and the staff wer so polite amazing and helpful in every way fast forward about a week we have received a card from the vets and it’s touched our hearts so thank you to the staff there just thank you again for making this time a little easier for us
Fantastic experience: Have been going there 24 years - I wouldn’t entrust my dog anyone else. Always professional, happy to discuss options and they like my dog!
