Negative experience: I had a very disappointing experience with this practice. My son called to register as a new patient. He is unable to read or write and explained this during the call. The receptionist refused to assist him and insisted that the registration had to be completed in writing. When my son asked to speak with the manager, this request was also refused. I found the overall interaction to be unhelpful and lacking in understanding, particularly given that he requires additional support. I hope this matter is addressed to ensure other patients are treated with the respect and consideration they deserve.

Fantastic experience: A brilliant veterinary practice. All the staff are friendly and helpful. I always feel like they all really care. They look after my pets like they are their own.

Fantastic experience: My cat had a healthy cat check and he was very well treated by 2 nurses. I would recommend a health check.

Fantastic experience: Amazing vets to go too. I’ve taken both of my kittens and plan to go long term. They have taken such exemplary care of both of them, taking the time with me when raising any concerns I’ve had. Both the receptionists and vets are so lovely. It’s so much more than the money, they well and truly want the best for your pets.

Positive experience: A bit late getting cat to be seen but once in, the vet was lovely. Looked after my cat very well and was very attentive.

Fantastic experience: I am forever grateful for the care that my puppy has received over the last 5 weeks. The level of care has been outstanding, from Ouzo’s operation to the after care! To me….A dog that enjoys going to vets is very strange, however it shows how loved and cared for she is there. When Ouzo sees the girls she gets so excited, and that just confirms that she feels safe. I could NOT recommend a better Veterinary practice than this one!. I can’t thank Andrea enough for looking after Ouzo the best she can

Positive experience: The vets know what they are doing but the place could do with regular cleaning. Its stinks and I know we are dealing with pets but the poo bin outside isn't even emptied. Doesn't give the best impression for new clients turning up

Fantastic experience: Couldn’t recommend this place more ! Absolutely amazing staff. So helpful and will be coming again if needed in the future. When my guinea pig had an abscess burst and chewed a blood vessel they got us in that morning. Got him in for surgery the same morning which was extremely lucky and he came home to us fine and happy. Surgeon Stefka Mechkarska was amazing at explaining the pros and cons. Very helpful and can’t thank her enough ! All the veterinary nurses we saw today were so polite, happy, helpful and loved our little Gilbert. Very thankful for this place. Can’t thank the whole team enough

Fantastic experience: Another visit with one of our rescue dogs. We needed a semi urgent appointment and staff were brilliant, we squeezed in and seen Jon... Again very professional and conscientious With as little stress to the dog as possible and while the outcome is sadly that the dog has a terminal aggressive tumour, the medication prescribed has really made a huge difference overnight Thank you ♥ I can't recommend enough Updated RIP Raff and thank you again to Jon and his team for their compassion and support

Fantastic experience: We have rescued a dog from a small flat with other dogs. Unfortunately in Tia's 4 years she has never been out or to the vets. The vets made Tia comfortable and explained all the things wrong with her. Now with treatment she can start enjoying life.

Negative experience: Very old fashioned waiting room and allways late to appointments but is allways the clinets fault never there sorry it allways it normal to be late to there own set appointments

Negative experience: Awful vets in my experience. Brought our puppy to this vets at first for her second injection and the vet then gave her the wrong one and then told us she would have to wait another 4 weeks to then have another so she was fully vaccinated. Next we took her as she has conjunctivitis, she was seen by two vets on two seperate occasions both of which contradicted what the other said and put her eye ingestion down to hayfever, when she does not itch her eyes and they also knew that after putting dye in her eyes. Overpriced and throw medication at the dog which it does not need just to make money out of you. Only good experience we had here was when seen by the head vet, other than him the rest of the vets are absolutely awful.

Fantastic experience: I can't recommend this practise enough!! I rang them about prices foe euthanasia and cremation! They were so understanding and helpful! When we got there I went in to say who I was and who I was bringing. When we Brough my dog in I was understandably heartbroken and they took us straight in to a room as there were people in the waiting room. The vets themselves who felt with us were so so good with my bonnie and myself. In such a hard situation I couldn't of wished for a better place to go! They allowed me as much time as I wanted with her afterwards but came back to make sure everything was okay and if I wanted more time! Hands down this is the best practise I've stepped foot in!

Fantastic experience: Recent experience was great, reception staff on Friday were kind & helpful, my dogs had their vaccines and a consultation with Jonathan from start to finish he was thorough reassuring me of my concerns and advising me on the next steps if needed. Negative experience: Takes advantage of grieving families, whilst my mum was distraught watching her 14 year friend get put to sleep the vet offered free ashes then charged then +£200 extra for them taking full advantage of a grieving person. Disgraceful and disgusting behaviour looking for a new vet for my own dog if anybody can recommend a compassionate caring place.

Fantastic experience: Excellent vets. Even though they are corporate owned now it doesn't feel like they're just after your money like a lot of other places. I'm advised they have a lot of clinical freedom over their own choices in terms of treatment so this is likely why. Staff were all very friendly and on our first visit it was very busy, a popular practice for sure.

Positive experience: Been to this vets with both of my animals. Dog and cat. Receptionist has always been lovely and great to talk too. Have seen multiple vets over the years and happy with all of them. I rated a 4 due to a vet saying ‘pugs can never breath and always have issues with weight’ just thought it was irrelevant to the topic I was discussing. But overall fine.

Fantastic experience: Have used the services of the practice for our ten dogs, for over thirty years. Total trust in the professionalism of the vets at the practice. They're all doggy people. The first question is "What's wrong?" not "Are you insured?" You won't find a better group of vets. The only additions I can add to this review, are the fact that it's now ten dogs, and to tell of their absolute compassion when the day comes to deal with the end of life of a beloved pet. Exemplary in all ways.

Positive experience: Very thoughtful, considerate VETs. No pet enjoys visiting and no dog owners enjoy paying, however the experience is made very relaxing and friendly by both VET nurses and VETs equally. There have been times when reception staff have been below par, but gladly they are not what we visit for.

Fantastic experience: My pug had an issue with mites, he was a ratching himself till he bled constantly, within 10 mins she told me what mite he has showed me a photo under the microscope of the pest, within 4 weeks his fur has all grown back no more scratching, absolutely delighted, before and after photos below. Thank you so much for helping him!

Negative experience: Where to start ?? I took my healthy puppy for his vaccinations, no warnings given about side effects, then after the second lot he became ill very quickly - a few days later they had to admit him as a day patient as his temperature was worryingly high, this after him being nauseous , seemingly spaced out and unsteady on his legs. They concluded he had either IMHA or Steroid responsive meningitis Artritis as a result of his vaccinations (this was later diagnosed as another immune mediated condition) , so had to start him on steroids immediately otherwise he could have died. He did respond well on the meds but the steroids left him stunted, then a referral to the animal teaching hospital became his downfall when they withdrew his meds and caused a massive relapse that he never truly recovered from. We lost him at 2.5 years old. His illness was too much for this vets to deal with and became a guessing game as to what treatment to use - I even took in a case study for them to read with a treatment plan to use. Stephka and Hannah were the vets my dog saw, I feel they tried their best but this was beyond them. Julie on reception was amazing and always got me in to see a vet at short notice - which was a a lot. Cathy on the other hand had no compassion what so ever- I was owed money after my dog passed and the only way I could get the refund was to go into the vets, they could take payment over the phone but not give refunds. When I went in she got up and walked off and left me waiting, I did not want to be in there and was in tears and shaking by the time I was dealt with. Very disappointed that I didn’t hear from Atherton vets, offering their condolences, when they heard of my dogs passing - seeing we were sometimes there several times a week so was a regular.

Fantastic experience: I recommend atherton vets so highly, staff love the animals n especially john the main vet who operated on my little dog did his best for her she didn't survive she was that sick but he put all the work in to her n he's not all about money he has pride in his work n loving n caring to the animals, just want to say thankyou to john who I believe is deverstated my dog didn't make it, he did he best , also waiting room there in very quickly to be seen to.

Fantastic experience: We have been customers of Atherton veterinary centre for 15 years Absolutely first class vets and practice staff We sadly had to say goodbye to our cat Merlin recently and everyone we dealt with from vets to nurses to admin staff have been kind, compassionate and caring all through the process of trying to help Merlin I highly recommend this veterinary centre both for their care and compassion Carole and Philip Coleman

Positive experience: Free car park but not massive. Staff pleasant, polite and helpful. All areas clean and tidy. Loss of star as when I was ringing to make appointment, it rang for ages and when answered was disconnected, like phone had been put down.

Negative experience: Used to be a brilliant vets, went in for flea tablet (nexguard spectra 30kg -60kg) with my dog always has and it works brilliant I know her weight etc ready to pay and to get told no they have to see her wich then charges me extra money for something I have already done? My dog is now still suffering and we have been sent away because there are no appointments even though I didn't need one just the flea tablet. Injustice and neglect to my dog.

Fantastic experience: Great vets. We tend to see Anka mostly who is lovely! It is clear she really cares about animals and knows her stuff! Never had an issue with appointments we have been squeezed in on the same day a few times.

Negative experience: Not sure how the rating is so high for this vets to be honest. It used to be brilliant but has gone so downhill. The reception staff are absolutely clueless, one in particular. I've had issues trying to get prescriptions from them. They put prices up when they feel like it with no warning whatsoever. Yesterday I was charged £118 for a blood test, with £40 of that being for a consultation that didn't even happen! The vet was running behind so one of the nurses took my dog into the back to do her bloods and then brought her back but I have still been charged for a consultation with a vet. I am going to be speaking with them about this when I receive the call back with the blood test results though I highly doubt they will care - it seems like all they are bothered about is making money now. I have to say, Stefka is a great vet, though when I have raised concerns about my dogs joints previously the response was 'would you like me to prescribe painkillers' rather than any advice or alternatives before putting her on medication. She now takes a supplement and is much better - no I do not want my dog on painkillers when it isn't necessary.

Negative experience: Not been able to get through for the last 2 months! Never answer the phone or get cut off never used to be like this. On a petplan with them and can't even use it

Negative experience: Wouldn’t even rate this one star! Appalling treatment of abandoned animals and people looking to care for them. Rude and obnoxious reception/nursing staff. I emailed a complaint 3 weeks ago, and still haven’t had a response from anyone. Probably deleted by said reception staff, “Bernadette” I believe. Unhelpful, lack of compassion and utterly abysmal customer service! Wouldn’t recommend at all! If they treat people the way they do I dread to think about the care they offer to pets!

Negative experience: Previously always had good experiences at this vets however today was a different experience: The vet did not seem to have made herself aware of the notes prior to consultation; did not ask any questions to get a full understanding of the patients (or our) needs; was rude and patronising; did not handle the patient in a kind or caring way; showed no compassion despite there having been bereavement; continued consultation in a busy waiting area including delivery of results and raising inappropriate topic/questions. On top of this we were there for two hours for what should have been a relatively straight forward visit. After a really stressful weekend and numerous visits to an emergency veterinary centre I expected at least some compassionate mid understanding from our regular vets and am deeply disappointed that instead it further added to the upset and stress already endured for the patient as well as ourselves.

Negative experience: Appalling. Vet was rude and brusqe from the very first words, clearly hadn't read medical notes and had no intention of listening to patient's human guardian. Mishandled the patient, and when they were returned after blood test, patient was abnormally quiet and visibly upset. No other vet has ever had that effect on them. Made the patient and guardian wait over an hour for blood tests after the gurdian had been informed of their completion and made a point of seeing four patients *after* the guardian was informed they were complete. *Berated the guardian in front of a waiting room full of other patients and guardians*, didn't actually deliver the results and then left other staff to finish the consultation. Utterly disgusting.

Negative experience: Would not dream of sending your beloved pet here!!!!!! AVOID THIS VETS AT ALL COSTS nothing but rude, uneducated, patronising staff! Absolutely no compassion considering the industry they work in. IF I COULD HAVE GAVE A ZERO STAR I WOULD!!

Negative experience: Would give it zero stars if i could. These reception staff would rather give a dog to a shelter than let it come back with a lovely family home under a finders retainer legally sorted by the council. Not one staff member knew the legal requirements surrounding stray dogs. Heard nothing but bad reviews about these reception staff, seriously letting the rest of the practice down. Would never ever bring any of my dogs here. Clearly have no compassion and would rather send a neglected, thin, injured dog to a shelter than with people who have owned dogs all of their lives and ready to cover vets bills to get her up to good health again. Horrible people.

Fantastic experience: We recently had an emergency situation with our beloved Frenchie. The practice were amazing, the receptionist, 2 nurses and Stefka looked after our very poorly dog. One of the nurses spent almost 5 hours caring for her but despite their best efforts we sadly lost our beloved friend. All the staff were caring and considerate and we couldn’t have got through such a terrible time without their support. We 100% recommend the surgery. Thanks again Pauline & Paul

Negative experience: Won't be taking my dog here again after years of coming. Rang up for a repeat prescription (flea treatment the tablet) he's been having a while. Refused to prescribed it to me because he's not seen a vet even though he was seen by a vet nurse 4 months ago. And no changes to my dogs weight or health. But still refused and wanted me to pay to see a vet before they can give me what he normally has. Definitely won't be coming here again. Anything to make more money out of you.
