Negative experience: Charged us £70 for disposal of a wild fox. This was with a charity discount. Other vets charge us around £15. Avoid if possible.

Negative experience: Awful service. Not used them in 9 years and they have take £75 with no justification, staff on the phones are incredibly unhelpful. Would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: My experience is very recent and all the staff from the moment my son and I entered with our beloved old dog to the moment we had to leave treated us with such compassion and kindness, in a time when we had to make the difficult decision to have our dog put to sleep. Our vet talked us through our choices and guided us through the process and more importantly allowed us time in a safe space to say goodbye. We will be forever grateful to you all. I can not recommend you enough. Ana Willis

Fantastic experience: They looked after my cat with a lot of genuine care. He had an eye removed and the vets did a very good neat job. Billy is doing very well now. After care was excellent too. Lovely friendly staff all round.

Negative experience: Not sure who's running this place. But they don't seem to know what they're doing. For example, they txt to remind you that your pets prescription is due. So you order. You're then told its ready to collect. But where do you collect it from??? You'd assume it's from the vet's that you're registered to. Not one the other side of town. I only found this out after speaking to someone at the vets after being on hold for over half an hour. I have completely lost faith in this vet's practice. And will be taking my pet elsewhere. To another vet's that seem to have a interest in what they're doing. And more importantly answer the phone!

Fantastic experience: Excellent vets.the staff are lovely,caring kind heart and the pet always comes first then the owner which i love.our family have always used them ie my grandad,mom and now me.(use to be called Walpole & Bingham).and even though the name has changed the feeling in the vets and how they are with u hasn't changed.its like walking into your own warm home feeling.and I 1000%+ know and feel that my dog is always in safe hands.

Positive experience: This vets has had a bit of a facelift. The reception are always friendly and helpful and although often different vets, always receive a good service. Have been using for many years.

Positive experience: Great service most of the time. Staff are friendly and professional, and clearly love animals. However, recently (on the day I'm writing this, actually) I had an appointment with a vet that left me feeling a bit disappointed. I was worried about my dog's behaviour, as she was becoming a little moody and unpredictable after her spay op, and I know that when an animal's behaviour changes like that it's good to get them looked at, in case there's a medical reason behind it. Unfortunately the vet I spoke to didn't even want to entertain this notion. She just said "it's a behaviour problem, go to a behaviourist", not asking any questions about my dog, her health, how she'd been acting, nothing. She didn't even take a look at her, she just told me that she'd been traumatised by her surgery (she hadn't), that I needed to win her trust back (I'd never lost it), and that she was having 'dominance problems' (she isn't). While the things she said weren't totally unfounded, I find it a little hard to believe that she could come to such a specific conclusion with zero observation and minimal information. I know opinion is currently divided as to whether spaying/neutering affects behaviour, but it's annoying that my concerns weren't listened to properly. Oh, and it cost the best part of £60 to be told this unhelpful information. Most trainers do initial consultations for free. Don't know why I bothered.

Fantastic experience: Unfortunately we had to have our dog put to sleep after she suffered a serious stroke. Carmel Vets managed to get us an emergency appointment and were very caring and empathetic when we made the sad decision to have her put to sleep due to the severity of her symptoms and old age. We arranged for her to have an individual cremation and we collected her ashes just over a week later. They also included a paw print in a card, a lock of her fur, plus a sympathy card and small packet of forget-me-not seeds. Carmel have been very good to us throughout this whole process and have been very compassionate. Thank you.

Negative experience: Lost my dog due to neglect from this vets, heartbroken when it could have so easily of been preventable. Such a shame as this was an incredible vets when tom Bingham was there but once he retired the place went down hill fast

Fantastic experience: I have to speak as I find & my Skye has always had a good service at Carmel's Vets. However, this is because I now ask for the lovely vet Varvara who has indeed been excellent so far. I made it my choice to always see her now because she had the qualities one would want for their precious pets. I give the 5 stars to the nice friendly reception staff & of course Varvara.

Positive experience: Both receptionists spent the whole time I was waiting to be seen viewing personal photos on their works computers and discussing them loudly. Once I went in to see the vet we immediately went into maximum cash extraction mode, even though all that was actually required was a course of antibiotics for an obvious infection. Why do all vets do this?

Fantastic experience: This place is great. My hamster is only 10 months and he was experiencing hairloss and itchy skin. I was going to take him to another vet but they were too busy so I looked for other exotic vets and found Carmel vets! They gave me an appointment for the exact time I wanted it and they were great with my hamster. The vet was really helpful and they gave my hamster treatment! The place is also quite clean and I will be coming again!!

Negative experience: Carmel vets took over from Tom and Nigel Walpole and Bingham vets who were passionate about their practice and what ever time you needed them they would make sure they would see you with no hesitation unlike Carmel vets ,I am very disappointed how Carmel show no empathy what so ever towards their patients , all you are there is a number. I am writing this to point out a situation which was both stressful and very upsetting. When my dog took a turn for the worst and needed to be laid to rest they would not help as they said they hadn’t any appointments that same evening so I had to take him to another vets which was out of hours although it was only 6.30pm who my dog was not familiar with which added to the stress and upset . I could not and will not ever understand why they couldn’t see us at the end of their last appointment just to show at least a tiny bit of empathy of what was a very sad and upsetting time

Absolutely outstanding vetinarians in the practice and all are very loving towards the pets. Definitely recommend using carmel vets if you're looking for a vets for your pets. Would give more than 5 stars if I could.

Negative experience: Total robbers.. charged my pensioner father 72.00 for loxicom and I can get it from my vets for 28.00! Refused to refund so they have lost all of our family and friends custom...suggest everyone gets prescriptions off them n buys off Internet!

Negative experience: Have used this vets for years and always been very happy. Visited before christmas with a poorly cat being sick. Before I knew it she'd has blood tests, scan and all sorts. Left with a bill for £500 and antibiotics. All came back clear and tablets sorted things. Feel I need to update this review as used during lockdown and never again!! Took my reactive dog and they decided to examine outside by door with people coming and going. Though she was muzzled wearing harness and collar and held tightly face away from vet the vet was clearly scared. She examined her from a distance never touching her and unable to see wound below fur. Had the cheek to charge over £40 for that! Went elsewhere immediately and hair was clipped around wound. I will never use this vet again

Negative experience: The receptionists are extremely rude always have been. Ive complained before about them. I don't go there no more. First port of call is the reception so when you get a frosty welcome its a no go for me.

Fantastic experience: We took our young dog for a little operation. Due to covid restrictions we were unable to go into the building. Instead even though the weather was extremely cold a kind and efficient vetinary nurse came out to us introducing herself as Ellie. She took all the appropriate details and was extremely thorough before taking our pet inside. Later in the morning Ellie telephoned to say that the op had gone very well and that we could collect our pet later in the afternoon. Upon collection we were again informed of all our recuperation instructions/advice. With regard to the operation itself we were both really impressed at how small and neat the wound looked. We had gone in trepidation but our experience was extremely one of complete reassurance.

Positive experience: Not sure if the door bell works and I had to call just to get in but other than that seems ok.

Fantastic experience: Thank you for taking care of T4 in his last couple of weeks of life. The compassion, attention and attitude of everyone has always been exceptional, but the support over the last two weeks have gone above and beyond. If anyone is looking for a suitable vet for any animal, you will not find better than Warpole & Bingham (now Carmel) in Penn Fields, Wolverhampton.

Negative experience: [update: we did take our cat to a different vet: she has terminal cancer, something this surgery failed to spot despite being told about significant weight loss. She's now receiving palliative care and we're able to make sure she isn't in pain. I strongly advise people to try elsewhere: this surgery is careless and unprofessional] After many years taking our cats here & receiving adequate though indifferent service, I've decided to go elsewhere after two visits in which the vet we saw didn't follow the RCVS Code of Practice and our complaint was brushed off. I will pursue the complaint with the RCVS but I won't be returning. An example of their sharp practice: the vet we saw gave 2 injections the first visit and 3 on the second visit just a day later without explaining why we needed 2 visits and without telling us about the cost of the injections, and without agreeing the expense with us first. We're in the fortunate position of being easily able to pay the unannounced hundreds of pounds but many people won't be. This practice's habit of administering treatment first without discussing costs, and surprising customers with the bill only afterwards, at the reception desk, directly contravenes RCVS guidelines. An example of poor record-keeping, also contravening RCVS guidelines: the vet weighed our cat on the first visit because we were concerned about her weight loss; it turned out on the second visit that he hadn't recorded the result. The vet was brusque to the point of being unfriendly. I hear the place has gone downhill substantially since the retirement of the founders after whom this surgery is named; that could well be what I've experienced here.

Positive experience: Always taken my pets here for many years and never had a problem with quality of service/care they give. But since having my German Shepherd, i always seem to be left waiting from anywhere between 20-45 minutes AFTER my appointment. I've always booked the first appointment in the morning to ensure the vets is empty as my GSD gets very stressed and acts out of character when in the vets..... but somehow even then i'm left waiting wondering up and down the road to try and calm him down because 'the vet is busy'. Even though i booked the first appointment They don't seem to accommodate very well for German Shepherds as their focus is more on bulldog breeds or greyhounds. I respect this is what they specialise in, but shouldn't mean other breeds are less of a priority.

Negative experience: I was fitted in for 11.10 after phoning at 11.00 which pleased me. I was kept waiting outside (with a lady who had an appt for 11.20).She went in at 11.55 and i went in at 12.05. The treatment (1 tube of paste + 4 sachets of granules) plus the examination cost me £83.08. Draw your own conclusion re time & cost.

Negative experience: Not the same since tom Binghams retirement .

Fantastic experience: Always able to get an appointment with in a couple days, very friendly and helpful staff. I find the vet explains everything so clearly and simply, not using medical terminology, so I fully understand the procedure with an op or tablets. We live in Newport so a good half hours drive but very much worth the travel.....very highly recommended.

Monster has high blood pressure and on each occasion he has to have it checked, the wonderful reception and nursing team create him his very own chill out area with towels covered in feliway in an area that’s as quiet and calm as possible. They are all so patient and caring and whilst Tom and Nigel are the famous ones, brilliant as they both are, I am super grateful to the next generation. Thank you all.

Negative experience: Tom Bingham is retiring. This will be the end of this wonderful veterinary practice. How can they still trade as Walpole & Bingham now that Nigel and Tom are no longer associated with the business ? A very sad day for animal lovers in Wolverhampton. From now on the only motivation will be to charge as much as they can get away with. Very sad.

Fantastic experience: Tom BINGHAM is our Bulldog God!! He's so very passionate for our bulldogs, he does everything for the love of the animal, he doesn't rip people off like some vets!!! And he's such a nice lovely man. The whole surgery vets and the very lovely receptionists they are all such a lovely bunch of people!

Fantastic experience: I took my 5 month bulldog to walpole and Bingham as they came so highly recommended from lots of other bulldog owners. My boy frankie had cherry eye so made the decision to travel 5 1/2 hours from Cornwall to wolverhampton and I'd do it again tomorrow. Tom was fantastic and is quite the character! Did the procedure in 15 minutes and made myself and frankie feel very welcome. I'm starting a petition to get Tom and his team to move to Cornwall to save me the long drive!
