Vets for Pets - Cardiff Llanrumney

Fantastic experience: Excellent Practice so glad we travelled from West Wales with Tia our Staffy. Tom the veterinary Surgeon specialise’s in treating animals who have Luxated Patellas and cruciate ligaments. He had operated on Tia a year earlier and was successful at repairing a Luxated Patella then. He advised us then that the other leg would eventually need surgery So a year passes we travel to Llanrumney again and on arrival we met Tom who explained exactly what he intended to do that morning so we left her there to have her surgery. An hour later I had a phone call from Tom informing me that on opening her leg he could see that her cruciate ligaments were in a bad way and he had actually came out of surgery to get our views on having her cruciate repaired whilst she was asleep. We were told it was a more difficult procedure but he was willing to do it for us there and then. We agreed and later that afternoon we collected Tia who looked quite happy and we thanked him and all the staff for their support and kindness and travelled home. 6 weeks later we have a different dog she is playful and very happy is now eating well and I am convinced that she was in pain prior to her surgery and Tom had performed a minor miracle on our Tia. We are so grateful to him for his service and have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone who has a dog with knee and leg problems .Thank you so much from Steve and Diana Hill and of course Tia.

Fantastic experience: Id like to thank everyone at llanrumney vets for pets especially Andrew who took great care of my chi Kiki x Andrew did a wonderful job on my dog whose knee cap had gone around the back of her knee x 6 weeks later she is walking no problem at all. Thank you all x

Fantastic experience: Couldn't recommend these guys anymore if I tried. Over the last 5 years the care and compassion they have shown my dogs has been amazing. They are always at the end of the phone and will do their utmost to help. Louise, Sarah and Laura on reception are so helpful. Firstly with Frank. The dog was a walking vet bill. On his last day with us, Tom did everything he could to help. I had to take to him to an out of hours vets where we sadly made the decision to let Frank go but they followed up the next day and a few days later and took their time with everything. They helped sory his paperwork and we even had a card from them which was a such a nice touch. Over the 3 years prior, Tom was amazing with him. Frank was allergic to certain meds and had many issues but nothing was too much for these guys. With Lila and her repeated knee issues, again Tom had been amazing. He explains everything, listens and although Lilas given him the run around, hes exhausted every avenue to give her the best care. I couldn't ask for better people to look after our pets. They are amazing and always go above and beyond

Negative experience: Sadly I wouldn’t recommend. I had a small dove that had been attacked by a cat or a dog and couldn’t fly. I contacted the vets for help! Sadly the Vet?? wouldn’t give me antibiotics to treat this bird in desperate need and advice was to seek Wildlife charity? After 20 plus phone calls in Cardiff, none replied. Then I had a Gentleman answer his phone from a rescue in Machen, who was on his way to an Emergency in Port talbot, then Cardiff to rescue a Signet wrapped in fishing line. This Gentleman was in his 80s came with a crate and rescued the bird and took him all the way to Monmouth to a Vet out of his own pocket!! Sadly the dove had to be euthanised The point I’m trying to make it’s not all about MONEY it’s about having some humanity in our world today. Very dissapointed for Vets lack of care.

Fantastic experience: Great friendly experience, well accommodating for my first time visiting the vets, walked me through all the steps and procedure for my cat, couldn't recommend enough

Negative experience: my dog have hearing problem and checking the ears without otoscope is unprofessional, sadly say that 50 £ for saying that my dog il old is too much.

Negative experience: Do not take your animal her took my dog for a simple nail cut my dog came out covered in her own poo and paw bleeding they threw with no lead bleeding in to the reception after me telling I was going to shop glad I got there in time

Fantastic experience: A couple of years ago we joined the Vets for Pets practice in Llanrunmey, Cardiff, having left our previous practice because we were unhappy with the standard of care our dog received. He has chronic problems, so we get a lot of exposure to the vet practice. I have to say that this practice in Llanrumney has been really excellent. We've seen three different vets, and they have all been kind and caring and delivered a very high standard of care. They also provide continuity of care (not like our last practice where he nearly always saw locums). Vet care isn't cheap anywhere these days, but I find these cheaper than the last practice, and because he gets good care, we're less likely to re-attend. The head receptionist Louise has also been excellent - kind and caring as well as very efficient - a great leader and role model for her team. I will never change practices again, and would recommend them to anyone looking for an excellent vet practice.

Negative experience: This practice is completely unethical immoral money grabbing parasites that will put your animals welfare secondary to profit.....they misdiagnosed and neglected three of my dogs within short a space of time ,their receptionist shared slanderous untrue accusations with another practice when I finally left,if you value your pets welfare avoide at all cost ....

Fantastic experience: I have been with Vets 4 Pets, Llanrumney for the last 4 years. The girs on reception are always polite and offer a warm friendly welcome, and are discreet when needed. The practice is clean and tidy and staff are always to happy to help in any way they can. The vets and staff are great with my dog who is very nervous, and always listen carefully to your animals problem and offer the best solution for your pet. I have had a bad experience with a vet in the past but feel this practice is warm welcoming. Keep up the good work guys - you're a great team!!

Fantastic experience: Today was such a nerve racking day as my fur baby went into labour with complications she had passed the water sack but the first puppy was struck in the birth canal.. within minutes of me contacting Louise on the front desk she had me in with Julia for an emergency check. They were caring and even though I was upset they kept me calm. My baby was rushed in for a C section and is now home well and comfortable and all 5 puppies are perfect. Thankyou to the team in Llanrumney you literally saved us today can’t thank you enough

Negative experience: Money is their prime concern not pet welfare. The final straw for me was when my prescription for a long term medication (Yes its WAY cheaper to pay for the prescription and buy the medication online) for my dog was just one week past the prescription expiry date so I could not obtain the re-order batch. The reason I was late ordering the second batch was because the vet advised me to lower the dose if I could (oestrogen) for the health of my dog. As I did this the medication lasted longer. When I approached the vets to explain the situation and ask if they could reprint the prescription I paid for - they said I would have to pay another prescription charge - this was the practice managers decision! Before then, my dog has had recurrent ear infections - their response to this was to test to identify the infection, which I agreed to - when it did not clear up their next suggestion was to repeat the test (£160) to see if its still the same infection ! I mentioned diet, allergy, a more holistic approach which was just kinda shrugged at - then I was told I could try a anti-allergy diet (one made from feathers !!!) I'm now looking for a vet that has the pet and owner as a priority over profit

Fantastic experience: We’ve been regulars at Llanrumney Vets4Pets for 8 years all wonderful visits. The last year has been tough and had it not been for the fabulous Veterinary ophthalmologist JJ our journey would have been a lot harder. Stan our Vizsla had an eye condition and she was so thorough and patient with him and us throughout his treatment. Unfortunately there was a secondary health issue and after further investigation Stan went to sleep. JJ was with us and Stan right to the end and gave him unconditional love and attention during his treatment with her. We are so grateful and we know Stan was too xx

Negative experience: Receptionists are absolutely disgusting. So rude. Will not be using these vets again. Also The service is absolutely terrible. Overpriced do not receive updates. No care for your animals at all.

Negative experience: Paid £100 for a couple of flea tablets and a consultation ( which consisted of the vet touching my dogs tummy for all of 20 seconds). Blatant rip off, won't be returning.

Negative experience: After spending over £2000 on a rescue dog there in the first 2months I didn't expect to be told by reception staff I needed to take better responsibility for my dog.id requested a prescription and phoned next day to see if ready.told no.i went to vets day after but as Saturday was closed .I had to go to work away and returned following Thursday.late Friday had phone call to say prescription ready.it was different dosage than previous. Noone had told me why etc.as it was now Friday evening I couldn't get delivery of meds until following Wednesday. I said a curtsey call to say prescription ready as aparently was ready previous friday, could have prevented my dog having to wait now for due medication. Reception very loud and angry at my complaint as to poor service and told they don't have time to call owners. Did have time to rant at me for 20mins tho as to it being my responsibility to ge5 meds on time and how fed up she is with people blaming the staff there for things not their fault.reception staff however was very prompt in giving me a printout of treatments so I can change vets.this was the second time the reception staff had taken it upon themselves to shout at me, the first being when they charged me nearly £200 for treatments I had not given permission for eg cleaning anal glands , which had been done the week before by a vet in uk as id just moved here( my dog walker had taken dog in for me to vets4pets for second vaccination but dog didn't get it as was told needed anti biotics and steroids for ear infection instead.( also not mentioned by previous vet the week before when taken about her eye as it developed a cataract....then after treatment of antibiotics and steroids she had high eye pressure according to vets4pets... which can be a result of steroids , I didn't know this at the time, was advised to remove eye .as I trusted them I agreed but now not even sure this vet knew dog had been on steroids which could have caused increase in eye pressure? Because dog is seen by different vet each time and they don't seem to read notes and prescribe different doses of medication) either way the reception don't seem to be aware their job comes with some responsibility and shouting at customers and telling them they're irresponsible owners after having done everything possible and spent all savings on dog, infront of other customers, not to mention the lack of curtesy calls when waiting for prescriptions or medication, not being informed when treatments are done or why prescriptions are changed is more than enough to go elsewhere. I've never ever had an argument in a vets before until I went to vets4pets! And I worked in a veterinary practise as a teenager never knew it was ok to get angry and shout at customers either.maybe it's a welsh thing, to tell people what they're doing wrong in your opinion?

Fantastic experience: I called the vets for advice on my dachshund who recently had back surgery. The nurse who I spoke to was able to speak to the vets for me for advice and prescribed medication. Everyone who works at Llanrumney vets for pets are very helpful, knowledgeable and understanding.

He’s a rescue and the receptionists have been doing everything they can and more to help us with insurance etc. Whenever we have an issue they always help, and the vets have been brilliant with getting Frank better and out of the state he was in! I can’t recommend this practice enough!!

Fantastic experience: I have two very mischievous spaniels - one a six month old puppy who managed to get into the food waste bin while we were on holiday and relatives were looking after her. This happened at 5.30pm and she was seen, treated and home within just over an hour, as if nothing had happened! We were at the airport abroad when this all unfolded so could have been a nightmare but was very smooth and efficient

Fantastic experience: The receptionists were extremely friendly and helpful, registration was quick and simple and I was offered a same day emergency appointment as my dog had an infected eye. The vet who saw Teddy was amazing, calm, and very gentle. It was Teddy's first visit, and for a rescue dog who suffers from anxiety he was not stressed out at all. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I usually go to the reforest vets as both my other dogs are with them but I have just bought a new puppy but my vets could not fit me in till may which was to long to wait Llanrumney has a appointment for the April , I am a little bit disappointed that they do not do the health plan in Llanrumney. But I choose the puppy pack

Fantastic experience: Best vets I've come across in my life! They treat all their furbaby owners with such respect and kindness. Been going to this vets on and off with my family dog daisey who dosent like other dogs due to being a rescue, when we arrive we can just wait outside away from other dogs and they will come and get us. Nothing is to big or to small for these vets! I've recently signed up with my own furbaby and when she had dermatitis they had her in straight away with no problems! She loves the "doggy doctors" and gets excited every time she comes here!❤ I'm forever grateful to find such an amazing vet practice with hard-working staff and a great environment. My dog has done a whoopsies whilst we was on our way out, I asked for paper towels etc and the vet that seen her came out and cleaned up like it was nothing! I apologised and he was so nice about it and just gave my dog fusses ❤

Fantastic experience: By far one of the best vets in Cardiff! My pomeranian Millie underwent an operation after breaking her leg. Tom and his team have been amazing, very professional, honest and certainly most genuine caring people for your pets to be with. 100% recommended. I wouldn't go anywhere else! Fantastic experience: I love Llanrumney Vets For Pets, wouldn't go anywhere else.Luna our Yorkie had a poorly eye and I needed to see someone this morning.They fitted us in within the hour which was amazing. Turned out she has a scratched cornea and I think the lady vet we saw also said an ulcer? We were given drops and meds and the "cone of shame" lol to stop her rubbing it. I'm so happy I got my baby seen before it got any worse.Thankyou to the vet we saw and also to Louise for holding Luna while she had the stain put in her eye.See you all on Tuesday when we are coming back in to get Luna checked.

Fantastic experience: One of the best vets I’ve ever been too! I was recommended here for my dog due to have knee complications and I am so glad I listened to the advice. My first point of contact was with Louise and she was superb and very knowledgeable and made everything so easy. Then I met Tom and what a fantastic vet, he genuinely cares about your pet and does his upmost to solve any issues. Louise has been an amazing help and support with everything Ive had to do and I can’t thank her enough … she’s an absolute asset. Fantastic experience: Since he was a sprightly puppy, our dog has been under the excellent care of Vets4Pets, and he is now a rambunctious seven yearold. Throughout this time, everyone on staff has been consistently outstanding, from the receptionists to the nurses to the veterinarians. Whenever our dog required attention, the staff demonstrated an unwavering commitment to providing the highest level of service. Our furry family member, for example, recently became ill. When we first expressed our concerns to the receptionist, they listened, the vets took action, investigated, and took the time to explain the diagnosis and treatment plan. Needless to say, he was and continues to be in excellent hands; it is no exaggeration to say that their efforts, dedication, and care saved our dog's life; he is happy again and on the road to recovery. It gives us piece of mind to know he is in safe hands and that the staff will always do right by our dog.

Negative experience: Took my dog there but he was more concerned in me bringing him back and back to make more out of me rather than sort the problem out very expensive I find they have no thought for the animals only the cash.

Fantastic experience: Tom recently did a cruciate ligament repair on my 12 year old terrier. He was lovely and provided clear explanations and clear choices, written instructions, and engendered my trust immediately. I have visited 3 times now in relation to the one episode which included planned follow up checks. I highly recommend Tom.

Fantastic experience: Our dog loves going to see the guys at Llanrumney Vets4Pets. She isn't the most friendly dog in some situations, and the team there have made her feel so comfortable, that she is actually happy to go to the vets. She has had quite a bit of treatment in the last 12 months and is still happy to see Tom, Louise and all the other members of staff. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I’ve come across people who have had to hand over their pets through this pandemic to the vet outside so cannot go into the surgery with them , I have not had to do this with this practice they have taken steps to ensure the safety of the staff and the customers I received great advice from Louise prior to my appointment today and as always Julia was thorough and clear with her treatment - thank you everyone at the practice from walter and me

Negative experience: I payed over £200 for my cats ear as she had a haematoma,guess what she still got it as I havent got a money tree out my back,I wouldn't have minded paying if there treatment worked

Fantastic experience: I am a qualified vet but I don't currently work in clinical practice. Since I cannot treat them myself, I have registered both my pets and those of my family with Llanrumney Vets4Pets. Quite simply - they are brilliant. It is such a relief to have found a high quality, professional clinic and I absolutely trust Tom and Delyth with my precious pets knowing that they will take care of them as if they are their own. They have been absolutely amazing. From the small everyday stuff to supporting me through the terrible loss of my old boy last year. More recently, my decrepit old cat has been in and out for treatment of his hyperthyroidism and I am so lucky to have found a practice that has continued to provide such a high level of service despite all of the challenges of the pandemic. I know I must be a tricky client (it is always awkward treating another vets pets!) but they have been absolutely superb to me and my crew! So thank you to all the staff at the practice - I cannot recommend you highly enough!
