Negative experience: I’ve visited Vets for Pets Newport and had a really poor customer service experience. The receptionists were not welcoming and didn't explain anything, seeming quite robotic in their interactions just wanting charge money from clients and let them go quicker. Additionally, during a previous appointment with my cat, a Veterinary Surgeon Katerina responded to my question in an inappropriate and joking manner, including an unprofessional gesture of the middle finger which was very unprofessional and disrespectful. This was very disturbing to witness as a client. The work they do is made by protocols and there was no issue so far with that. But the attitude of the most of staff, especially receptionists, is awful.

Fantastic experience: my dog was ill and my veterinary practice could not get me an appointment unless I could travel to Barry. I contacted Vets for Pets and after receiving my dogs details I was able to take him for consultation and treatment. Thank you everyone there, hopefully our little boy is on the mend. Thank you all again.

Negative experience: Similar to others below, don’t bother complaining or raising concerns as they get twisted and not answered in a polite or correct manner at all. Called us liars and then had a go for not being rude if we were unhappy? We loved it here but it quickly became clear it was about money only

Fantastic experience: I’m a new pet owner with my very first kitten. We’ve been to Vets4Pets a few times these past few months and have only had good experiences. All vets or nurses I’ve seen have always been very patient, caring and always willing to answer any questions. They always take good care of my kitten, offering him treats and being patient with him as he’s quite timid. The treatment he receives has meant vet trips are not a big ordeal or major stress for him. As an anxious owner I truly can’t thank the practice enough for making every visit as calm and stress free as possible

Fantastic experience: My partner and I brought in a stray male cat last week- he was really poorly and we were really concerned about him. The team at Vets4Pets took him straight in and treated him whilst we waited for him to be reunited with his owner. Fantastic service and very kind and caring staff. Thank you so much for helping us with him and we’re so pleased to hear he’s been reunited with his owner ❤️

Fantastic experience: Every member of staff here have been nothing but lovely. We see Kat mainly with our dog who recurrently has infections so we go at least three times a year for treatment. I often call on the day and can get an appointment that same day. My dog was incredibly wary of people when we rescued her but she actually enjoys her visits to the vets and has built up a good level of trust with the vet. Vet prices are very high everywhere and we have a larger breed dog so it's never cheap but this comes hand in hand as a pet owner. Thanks for always making missy more comfortable, even when we are discussing her weight

Fantastic experience: We have used vets for pets for our various dogs and cats over the past 15 yrs. From the admin to nursing team to vets-they have always been superb. They are upfront, compassionate, pragmatic and highly skilled. We have used them for various pet related issues including Vaccination, tooth scaling And extraction, check ups and euthanasia. Cath was amazing when we had to have our cat put down. She was so calm and compassionate and she made the whole situation more bearable. Our oldest dog was ill a few wks ago. I called the surgery, paid a deposit and we had an appointment within 2 hours. He had bloods, ultrasound of his abdomen chest and heart as his abdomen had swollen and he was short of breath. He was really sick and we thought we were going to lose him. He was diagnosed with protein losing Enteropathy and the team recommended some Treatment. As a result of their care he is up and about and living his life again. I would definitely Recommend this vet practice to anyone who is looking for high quality vet care for their pets. Thank you so Much. X

Fantastic experience: Took a clients cat here today, we saw Aysen. She was wonderful with the cat and took the time to clearly discuss options to me, especially given the fact we were caring temporarily for the cat. She was patient waiting for the owner to get back to her and I to decide what to do. She knew the cat really well and really cared about its wellbeing. Couldn't recommend her more highly!

Fantastic experience: Over the years I have used lots of different vets for my animals but have never come across any as trusting or as kind as those at vets4pets. They have provided advice and support at short notice and never over-charged or pushed unnecessary treatments. I have always felt they have the animals best interests at heart. All receptionists and staff are welcoming, particularly vet Jack who is very knowledgeable and approachable. I trust them fully with my beloved pets.

Fantastic experience: I want to express my deepest gratitude to the entire clinic, and especially to Jack Evans , for their compassion, kindness, and understanding during the most difficult time of my cat’s life. From the moment we walked in, I felt that they truly cared — not only about my beloved cat but also about us as we faced the hardest decision any pet parent has to make. Jack was patient, gentle, and so empathetic. He took the time to explain everything, never rushed us, and treated my cat with such tenderness and respect. I’m truly sorry that I only found this clinic now, during her final days. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making her final moments peaceful, and for giving us comfort and understanding when we needed it most.

Negative experience: I never had an issue with this vets, they were always helpful and friendly. They diagnosed my dog with issues that could not be easily fixed and I made the hardest decision of my life to say goodbye. That day will live with me forever, for all the wrong reasons. I don't even know where to start with how bad/wrong the day and service went. 1. Charged extra to take my dog out the back to put in a canular to inject the euthanasia 2. Did it whilst he was on the floor 3. Left his lifeless body on the floor 4. Receptionist then came into room with my lifeless dog on the floor for everyone in the waiting room to see, we me in tears on the floor also. Just left a bitter pill in my mouth, my last and final image of my best friend is him dead on a surgery floor for everyone to witness Then issues with the receptionist when it came to organising and collecting his ashes, absolutely no symphony given and even lied to about the service, until they were told otherwise to which then then actually checked, no apology then given. I wont be returning with future pets.

Negative experience: Horrendous experience at Vets 4 Pets Newport. Rather than pay their inflated price for medication i asked just to pay for the prescription. My dog had two issues so had to pay double. Then i was informed that they wouldn't give me the prescription, even though i paid for it! After some arguing i agreed that they could send the prescription off to my online pharmacy. Three days late they still hadn't received the prescription. That's now three days that my dog didn't have his medication. After ringing them i discovered they sent it to an account that doesn't even exist. Tried to then claim through my LV pet insurance and was told i have to print the form out (Who owns a printer these days?) and that they'll charge me a further £23 admin charge. Absolute joke of a vet. Only there to make money. Couldn't give a toss about your animal.

Negative experience: WHAT A JOKE!!! I used to use Vets4Pets religiously to deal with my pet rats but i cant beleave the recent price of it all. When i last had my pet rats put down due to age i paid a total of £85 for both pets to get delt with at the same time plus crimation. Now it has trippled in price. I just got quoted £148 ish per rat. A total of £280!!! Consaltation fee, the medication to put them down AND THEY WERE GOING TO DISPOSE OF THEM!!! Im so mad it isnt even funny. No offer of cremation, just disposal or give them back. Why the hell do i need consoltation for 2 elderly rats that are dying, i just wanted to end their suffering, one has cancer lump the size of a golf ball and is stupidly thin. I cant, im broken, i guess nature can just take them slowly.

Hannah W Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Recently took our cat as we were concerned about dental issues. They quoted us £1,300 for dental cleaning, anaesthetic, 2 extractions, xrays and a blood test. The blood test was optional and so this brought us down to around £1,100. I thought this seemed expensive given 11 months prior he had had a similar procedure but with 3 extractions for £700 and whilst costs have gone up this seemed a huge increase and not a neglible ammount of money. We also did research online on costs of similar procedures elsewhere. We consulted another vets in Newport today in order to compare, and after a very thorough check of his mouth (and everywhere else!) there were no obvious dental issues, and certainly nothing that would warrant the need to put him under. I genuinely cannot believe we nearly spent £1,100 on a potentially unnecessary procedure and putting our cat at risk with anaesthetic. Please avoid this vets or atleast get a second opinion if you can, it may well be worth a second consultation fee. The CMA review of vets can't come quick enough!

Fantastic experience: Been attending this vet practice for 3 years now for my rabbit, up until recently he's always been seen for vaccinations until he was ill last week. The members of staff, vets & receptionists are all friendly, welcoming & helpful The care my pet has recieved has been amazing Even though we live half an hour away from this practice, we choose to travel here as its the best one he's ever been seen by in nearly 6 years

Sarah Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: I made a booking for an operation at a specified price, attending the consultation 10days later I was informed that the consultation and procedure cost had risen by £70. As I was only informed after the consultation I had no choice but to pay for this appointment in full, following this, not processing with the appointment would mean I would be out of pockets for the consultation fee (£55). The managers response in relation to this was that that it was unrealistic to expect the staff to inform me during these 10 days prior to the appointment as they have other duties such as taking 'calls.... greeting customers and ...cleaning...' When you do raise your complaint with management the responses are abrupt and im my opinion rude using !!!!! and you are discharged from the practice. 'Your behaviour suggests to me that you are not happy with us as a practice, so I think it is best for everyone if you leave our practice and seek care elsewhere'. So it would appear that complaints are not resolved and there is no motivation to make improvements on there service. It is no Suprise to see from google reviews that others have left feeling that not being informed of a price increase until the day is intentional, the money is the motivation, and when met with complaints provided unhelpful responses and discharged from the surgery. Even when you escalate the complaint, you are met with the same attitude. No response, the complaint closed without any form of communication. Their customer service is by far the worst I have ever come across and appears to be the culture of the organisation. I did not think attitude and such a poor standard of customer service existed these days and honestly wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't experienced it myself.

Negative experience: Staff are very friendly and professional. 2 stars as it is unnecessarily expensive even more so than other vets in the same area

Leigh Gammon Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Really disappointing that firstly that they do not deal with pet insurance companies directly and you have to claim any expenses back yourself. More annoying when you are fighting to get your money back from Purley Pets insurance (don't sign with them) I find out that the vets have classed my do as aggressive. My dog is a cross between a Pug and a Frenchie. Neither known for being aggressive. Question how would a human in pain, hurting that's why you are at a vets have a mussle put on you when you never wear one and a finger stuck up your bum. It's not going to make anyone happy when your upset already as you are ill. My dog is not aggressive. Your report to the insurance company will now no doubt cost me on my renewls. Really annoyed with your report and you have not replied to my email with details of what else you say about my dog.

MemeKlub Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: My cat injured her leg and it was going to cost £3,000+ to help her. Heartbroken, believing we couldn't pay for her surgery we thought it best for her that we sign her to their care. Later that day after searching high and low we found a way we could manage the payments because we were so desperate to get our family back. We rang them the same day to see how she was doing and we tried to see if we could try and pay for the surgery now it was an option....all we got from the receptionist was "you signed a legal contract."

welshjim22 Posted on Google 1 year ago

Positive experience: Good service, but restricted hours. Mon-fri only. Do pet owners not work in the week? And booster jabs only around lunch time. Inconvenient to ruin a whole day off with an appointment which can only ever be booked in the middle of the day. Only still there due to companion care product.

Alexander Collins Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: I recently had an extremely disappointing experience at Vets for Pets in Newport. It was clear from the moment I walked in that their primary concern is making money, not the well-being of the animals. The staff was incredibly rude and unprofessional, showing little to no compassion for my dog. Instead of focusing on my pet’s health, they seemed more interested in pushing unnecessary treatments and services. I felt like I was just another source of income to them. I would not recommend taking your pets to this vet. Your animals deserve much better care and respect. PS. If you want to make an insurance claim, they are absolutely no help at all. The words they used on the insurance documents are absolutely disgusting.

Fantastic experience: We had a seagull in our garden that needed some help as it injured its wings. I contacted rspca who advised should contact local vets. Vets for pets came to my mind, spoke to a vet over the phone they were happy to see the bird and offer him rehabilitation. So kind hearted. I took that seagull to them and sorted thank you so much. Kindness wins

Fantastic experience: Ayshen, performed surgical procedures on Lola our Bassett hound. Lola suffers terrible anxiety and is terrified of the VETS. They came outside to meet Lola and did a physical exam in the car park, including a stethoscope to listen. Lola wasn't as bad when she went inside. The day of general anaesthetic they didn't waste anytime, I walked with lola to the theatre door and she was sedated in seconds. Don't go there looking for bargains, but they are much less expensive than Alphabets. Very impressed in the whole performance by the whole team. Top draw!

Michelle Drew Posted on Google 2 years ago

Positive experience: Quick appointment times, punctual time keeping and friendly staff. I especially like that they inform me of the cost with every single thing they do. So I don't have any nasty surprises at the end of my visit.

David Addicott Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Absolutely shocking. I have been with this vets for many years now. Unfortunately my dog has either broken or dislocated her toe. The vet had no experience dealing with whippets, asking me the majority of the questions on how to deal with the issue. An xray was mentioned which cost in the range of £600. My whippet is insured but apparently this vets require you to pay upfront and receive the funds back from the insurance, even though the cost of the xray including treatment would go into the thousands. After asking questions on the payment side of things which I couldn't understand, I was rushed out the door for the vet too examine another animal. Payed £66 for absolutely nothing. Would give 0 stars if possible.

Fantastic experience: Really kind and caring. Ollie my dog has cluster seizures and they have got them under control. They listened to me which my other vets didn't and now he's got a good quality of life.

Negative experience: Was a client for 10+ years but since the pandemic service has notably declined. Both reception and clinical staff rude. Clinical service unreliable- you could get excellent pet care or suboptimal.

Fantastic experience: Always polite and helpful, have been fantastic to our pets and incredible with our rodents as we know how high risk their surgeries can be.

Fantastic experience: A really caring practice, very professional but personal too. I really wouldn't go anywhere else. My puppy was recently hurt in an accident and they went over and above to ensure not only the pup was ok but that I was too.

Fantastic experience: Had my ups and downs over the last 14 years with vets4 pets! But what I can say is how amazing they have been over the last few months before I had to make the difficult decision. Katerina offered great advice and cared. Jody on the actual day was absolutely brilliant, for such a tough day you knew how much she cared. I’d recommend them.

Rachel Paskins Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: I can not put in to words how amazing this practice was to me today. My beautiful girl had to say goodbye as she had reached the end with cancer. Catherine was so sympathetic, and made my baby’s passing so gentle and easy. All the staff were fantastic. They lit a candle for Nala to leave the world. Genuinely wish every pet owner had such a caring experience when it’s time to say goodbye. I’m so thankful this was her place to pass. Thank you Catherine and ur lovely reception staff for being so caring, and for looking after my beautiful girl x

Rebecca Thomas Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: I just want to recognise everyone at Vets4Pets Newport. The reception staff are welcoming, warm and make a fuss of our dog and pup! I want to give a HUGE special mention to Cath, what an incredible vet. She is currently looking after our eldest boy, Laurel who is under investigation for an issue in his hip. Kath is not only a thorough vet but she has HUGE compassion and empathy for worried pet parents. We've never felt rushed or misunderstood. Her love for animals and her profession is very obvious. HUGE thank you Vet4Pets!

Nick Jones Posted on Google 2 years ago

Positive experience: Just had his nails clipped £40 plus £12 for painkiller they said he'd be sore and I had to pay in advance to make the appointment but it was same day.

Lauren Jones Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Very friendly reception staff, despite them being busy! Explained every cost in detail. The vet was absolutely lovely, was very gentle and caring with my boy, explained every step and gave him lots of yummy treats! I would highly recommend this practice. :)

Amy Channing Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: Extremely rude staff all around!! an uncomfortable environment, its more like an abattoir. Disgusted by the service myself and my pet received. Should be ashamed of themselves. Will not be returning.

Abigail Bird Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Staff are very friendly and professional. They always remember Frank and make a big fuss of him. They have been brilliant with him throughout the many unfortunate trips to them. Frank highly recommends!

Ben Jo Posted on Google 2 years ago

Positive experience: Everything over the last few years is purely about money, when they first opened it seemed as if they did care now £40 to even get a appointment, the prices of medications is scandalous, get a prescription issued for £12 and get it yourself online for well over 50-70% less

Stacey Sims Posted on Google 2 years ago

Negative experience: DO NOT GO TO THIS VETS!! MONEY MAKING SCAMMERS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING NOT ONE CARE FOR THE ANIMALS ALL THEY ARE AFTER IS MONEY AND TO GAIN INTEREST ON YOUR MONEY! LOTS OF PREVIOUS REVIEWS STATING THE SAME CASE AS PAID FOR VACS FOR LIFE BUT YET THEY WANT 40 POUND DEPOSIT FOR OVER 1 MONTH IN ADVANCE BOOKING IMAGINE THAT OVER EVERY CUSTOMER!! SURGERY MANAGER IS NON EXSITANT WHEN IT COMES TO A COMPLAINT AND EVEN TELLING PEOPLE TO FIND ANOTHER VET IF THEY ARE NOT HAPPY WITH PAYING THE 40 POUNDS CARING FOR ANIMALS MOTTO OF THIERS IS A JOKE AND I WOULD ADVISE ANYONE TO FIND AN ALTERNATIVE VET WHO ACTUALLY CARE! DIDNT CARE OVER COVID REDUCED THE HOURS NOT OPEN OVER WEEKENDS ANYMORE JUST OUT FOR THEMSELVES

DEWI Meade Posted on Google 2 years ago

Positive experience: Was dissapointed to find that the vaccinations for life had been cancelled. This was a big help for those of us on P. I. P. It made sure our pets were protected without the worry about having to get the money for future jabs.

Fantastic experience: great service very knowledgeable vets after a year of trying to find help for my dog with extremely itchy skin due to allergies finally I got right treatment within week my baby was like a new very happy dog I am glad I switched to them

kimmy Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: Says on website open on a Saturday yet closed, needed advice and possible emergency appointment so had to use a different vets practice. All they are interested in is your money. Extortionate prices for meds even just for antacids for our elderly dog. Would not use this vets again.

teresa arnesen Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: Couldn't get appt for booster shot, Practice not willing to provide booster shot a week before due date. I had to go elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff on reception....and nice nurse and doktor as well.

Bernie Davies Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: I will never take any animal of mine here again. I spent just under a £1000 for my fur baby to be wrongly diagnosed. They were more than sure she was incontinent even though I kept telling them she is still trying to wee. I was told to keep persevering with the 2 weeks anti biotics they first gave me as they thought it was a urine infection (which I do understand, as her symptoms appeared to be a UTI) after a week there was no change but I was told to finish the course. I had dipped her urine and rang with results but was told the vet wouldn't take my word for it and would have to bring her in and be charged to dip it. Sample was sent off but Urine results came back with no infection but blood. They suggested a scan which I agreed as had to find out what was going on. They said there was inflammation on the scan but nothing else could be seen and were more than sure she was incontinent even though I'm still telling them she keeps going outside to try and wee. I was then given medication to help with incontinence which I gave her but made her worse. Rang vets and was told to persevere. After 2 days I stopped given her the meds. By this point I'd had enough and took her to another vet for a second opinion. They actually listened to what I'd said and agreed she wouldn't still be trying to wee if she was incontinent and agreed there was something else going on. They also excepted my urine dip results which I gave them a few times with no charge. They did a more indepth scan and found a 3cm mass pressing on her bladder which is why she was having these symptoms. (No other scan was offered at Vets4pets as they were "more than sure" she was incontinent. Policy is that medication is non refundable. So am stuck with it. Unfortunately the tumour was inoperable and we said good bye to my little girl this week. As far as I'm concerned they are there for the money. The older receptionist is rude and I never saw the same vet twice. The vet I changed too I saw the same vet everytime as when appointments were made for her they made it with the same vet. (I didn't ask to but was done automatically) Vets4pets need to listen to the owners. We know our own pets and if there is something still not right with them. I will never use them again for any other pet I may have in the future!!

Negative experience: Shocking £40 fine per pet for being a few minutes late whilst located on the busiest A road within the city!!! £99 life time vac plan voided after three days late but happy to allow late four month lateness vacs during covid!! Pets for life not profiteering

Hannah Croft Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Quick and easy to get an appointment. We have a very nervous dog who is always responded to with care and sensitivity.

Mary Campbell Posted on Google 3 years ago

Positive experience: Sophie was very emphatic and took a great deal of interest into my pet, she explained everything very well without pressurising me into making a decision. I felt so much more relieved when I left and felt comfortable with the treatment my pet was given, she is recovering very well. If I had to say what needed improvement was the attitude of the reception, not friendly or welcoming at all, didn’t explain anything about the payment.

jason cogdell Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: Phoned up today to book our dog in for annual booster was advised i need to pay £40 deposit! Explained i didnt agree with this as and how much they have gone down hill since covid, when they was closed during covid our dog didnt have his annual booster due to them not seeing vets thats fine but to be told i would have to pay x amount because his booster was missed not down to our fault but because of covid. Our payment plan never stopped during covid so it was a very poor excuse there end. Looking through the reviews over the last year or so surely they can see that a lot of customers are not happy, we have cancelled our plan and changed vets, terrible customer service not how you should treat customers that been using you for years

Julie Hodges Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: I would give it less if I could it's all about the money your pets health is not the priority money is the vets attitude and professionalism is a joke , also attitude of the whole vettenary team and reception is appauling. My only regret is staying with them for as long as I did, and that my pets were failed by this pratice ... Please stay away from vets for pets Newport Cardiff road .

Ben Morgan Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: I don't understand how you can ring up for flea treatment and be told it takes 3 days to sort out then have to wait 20 minutes when you arrive. What a joke this place is

Dwayne Selio Posted on Google 3 years ago

Positive experience: Fair prices very good care of your pets and support after surgery. Awesome

Vi Kate Maggs Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: Misinformation is constantly given, random payments (whereby the amounts differ everytime) are demanded upfront before they will even book you in for an appointment, they call it a deposit yet they are taking the full amount for some things... That's not a deposit... Extra charges appear out of nowhere whenever treatment has been completed, they manage insurance claims in their own bizarre way (they will only take the full payment upfront and whether you decide to process the insurance claim yourself or whether you request the branch to do this for you via the Pawtal, you STILL have to pay £16 admin fee!? When you ask for clarity as to why this is the case, they tell you you either pay the £16 or you won't get what you need for the insurance claim!) They have a total lack of professionalism generally and minimum customer care is shown from a few of their staff, one in particular is based on reception, whom I won't name to offer her some level of dignity (which is less than she deserves after the altercation we had to endure last week!), seems to think it is acceptable to swear at customers, make accusations about their personal financial situation (which are completely inaccurate), hang up on them multiple times, lie about their own behaviour when called out on it, lie about their professional misconduct, then proceed to add falsified notes to client records as some form of revenge (lol) , which is both childish, laughable, bitter, and testament to their true character. Complaints and client feedback is shunned and point blank dismissed, the Practice Manager is misogynistic and passive aggressive (again, I will allow him to maintain some dignity and hold off on sharing the screenshots of the emails he has sent me), and his general demeanor explains exactly why the practice and some of it's staff are so toxic, and why things have gone down hill so much in the past year. This branch is nothing but money motivated these days (they demanded I pay £16 for the Practice Manager's signature on an insurance claims form that they didn't have to do any admin for!? To which I confirmed that I would rather take the hit of the £90 already paid to the Practice than pay them another penny after the way they have treated us as of late). They seem to have adopted a total disregard for what really matters here... the care of the animal. They are incapable of following simple instructions, they seem to make it up as they go along! Incompetence, lack of empathy, self serving, disorganised, out of touch with common decency. Also, there is a question mark over the amount of things they are allowing their nursing staff/junior staff to do e.g vaccinations, as they seem to leave the room to do these things, which they didn't do before (we have been at this practice for 5 ish years) . Good luck if you are a client here or if you are thinking of becoming a client here! We have now moved practices, as we no longer entrust Vets for Pets Newport with the care of our animals at all!

Fantastic experience: Lovely and friendly staff and the vet was very polite and friendly with my dog. The service was excellent.

Positive experience: The care the female vet provides is great, however the prices increase quickly and without warning. When terms and conditions change within policies no notice is given to customers which is a little naughty given you've entered a contract and pay for a service. There are 2 younger girls on reception who go above and beyond for you and are always eager to help but the older lady is dreadful to her you and your pet are nothing but a hindrance and everything is a problem. I have witnessed uncomfortable complaints in reception where management have opened a door told the receptionist the answer and then closed it again leaving the customer infuriated and the receptionist having to do the owners dirty work for them which wasn't pleasant in the slightest and you could tell this is a daily occurrence for the girls on the desks which is why I believe there is a massive turn over in staff. We have since moved vet but our sons dogs are there still and I believe that policies have changed again more recently with reviews seemingly looking to have gone down hill again which is sad for the lovely people there. There is also a rumour about vaccines being to busy and nurses providing them which I believe is illegal for your yearly check up. They are taking your dogs out of the room saying they are being taken to a vet or something so you're not actually with your cat or dog. Gone down hill massively but would like to see them make a good come back now covid hardship has cleared.

Negative experience: Phoned up half an hour before my appointment to reschedule for a bit later as my dog has had a bad night and I wasn't able to get there for 8.30am I was told that I couldn't reschedule and I've lost my 40 pound deposit. Now I have to arrange another appointment and pay another 40pound and my dog had to wait even longer to get the treatment he needs absolutely disgusting

Negative experience: Ongoing issues with the Cardiff road newport branch.started when I took my dogs and paid vac4life for 4 dogs £396plus cost of chipping the dogs then when it came to the 2nd jab they told me I would need to take my dogs elsewhere cos they had no availability even though I had already paid. I had to call head office to get this sorted and get them booked in.HEAD OFFICE for Vets4Pets where brill can’t praise them enough. Some of the pups vaccination cards had no details written in them also when I took the dogs for their second jab we discovered that the one pups chip didn’t match his paper work So another pup had the wrong paper work. Milo had his castration operation his wound was weeping and when I called to try make appointment I was told all aftercare is done online. ( already took my money so didn’t want to know) there have been other issues but if I noted them all I would be here forever. When you go on their web page it lets you know how to complain 1 first instance contact vet which I did a couple of times but this was the reply I’ve copy and pasted it so it’s word for word From the manger and owner of vets4pets newport this is what he thinks of his customers who are paying his wages. Dear Mrs Evans, I wish that just for once clients would think before complaining. This lock-down has gone on for nearly 16 months, and clients have become increasingly whiny, moaning and don't think of anyone but themselves. I have lost many staff in 2020 and this year, solely because they feel under-appreciated. So I am sorry you feel this way, but it is the likes of you that have made us 6 members short of what there should be at a time where recruiting decent staff has never been so hard. THank you Paul Mccarthy(Newport, South Wales JVP) BVetmed MRCVS I do NOT recommend this branch.. if I could go any lower I would give a 0

Fantastic experience: Great service all round.......Saw Cath this time around, her and Paul are easy going. Not many vets around these days that are willing to spend time talking about your pets needs, previously with another family dog, Paul explained different procedures with regards to Cushions Disease and what can be done, I know for a fact vets and big companies care about money and not the animal/s. I've worked overseas with stray dogs, although I'm no vet etc, I can judge what I want especially regarding my animals treatment wise, I don't cut corners, I won't be taken for a ride either, that being said, Paul understands me, and is open to suggestions, hence being with the practice a near 7 years, and I for one, don't trust many veterinary clinics with my animals! Again, thank you Paul. Cath and staff at the Cardiff Road, Newport Gwent. Make sure they know about this feedback, as surveys never get back to the roots! Regards Simon Henson

Fantastic experience: Very simple and straightforward. phoned at 8:30 for emergency appointment and was seen by 9:45. Very helpful and friendly staff, dog was nervous going in but happy coming out.

Nathan Williams Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: Very unfortunate that I have to write a negative review as I don't like to but this concerns the deposit policy of the practice which is independently set. Appointment was at practice opening time of 8.30am but unfortunately was 12 minutes late after unexpectedly aving to clean up ill cat who appointment was for and then congestion on road. This is the first time this has happened being late despite attending practice multiple times before over 5 years and always being early or on time. It was explained that the practice deposit of £40 is lost if you arrive at the practice later than 5 minutes after appointment time with no exceptions despite my repeat business. No chance to reschedule or merely lose a proportion of the deposit. Cat was sick and had fecal matter on him at this point and could / would not treat him was not life threatening but affects the quality of life of the cat. Not the fault of the practice but it just goes to show its a business and trust built over time does not matter anymore and I can't not afford to just lose £40 (seems to be consultation fee) with current cost of living so as I say to my kids not angry just disappointed. I'm gonna go back to proper independent vet, I would have been happy to pay extra but there was no wiggle room . I can see other similar reviews so it looks to be an issue and if I had multiple missed appts i would understand but 1 time after over 5 years of business / appointments is disappointing. Could this policy not be reviewed and patient history taken into consideration..... apparently not so I just wanted to put it out there for anyone who is considering the practice.

Negative experience: It's a joke.been with them for nearly 10 years.I have asked for end of life treatment for my dog because his suffering. They told me to make appointment in a week. I would never think that vet would say something like that to keep him in pain for another 5 days.very unhappy with them.if u can avoid

Negative experience: The last experience was the worst in that the professional service you come to expect was not evident eg vet was in surgery my dogs were taken one at a time from the room leaving my other dog very distressed. Clearly staffing levels are not adequate enough to provide the service expected I booked my appointment 6weeks ago and expected to see a vet for check up and injections and not fed information back to me by a third party. The cost of the service is high and for this reason you would expect a top class service

Negative experience: Quite frankly was not surprised to see so many of the negative and quite scathing comments about Vets4Pets in Newport and some of its staff. Appointment booked for 16:45 and £40 paid up front to check our dogs eye, received a call that afternoon from Vets4Pets to inform us that the appointment would be delayed due to an emergency. Couldn't give us an estimated delay time so instead of sitting in the waiting room with our dog on a hot day, turned up at 16:52 only to be told we'd missed our slot. I explained to the lovely receptionist that we'd been informed of the delay hence why we were slightly late but she didn't care.. I volunteered to wait until one became available but was told nothing would be available that day but was assured that I would be contact the next day to rearrange. Waited until lunch time, nothing, so I had to contact them. I asked them for a new appointment only to be told I would need to pay another £40 as I had lost my initial deposit because of turning up late!! Vets4pets - you need to understand that our pets are like family and are not there for your profit!! I've asked for an official explanation from management as to why they refuse to return my deposit or at least use it to allow me to book another appointment. I doubt i'll get a response so have to draw my own conclusions...Greed! Vets4Pets...…more like Vets4profit

Negative experience: I had a appointment today at 4:45 p.m., I arrived 4:57p.m. Unfortunately vet didn't want to see my dog anymore. I got the information that other patients are coming in. I stood there another 10min, nobody arrived. Receptionist had also time to go twice to vet and ask him/her questions, when in the mean time they could just help my dog. But it is all about money, isn't it? Of course they were happy to book appointment for next day for another 40£.

Positive experience: Very good vets. Would highly recommend Paul ( vet) and Michelle ( nurse ). Can get buzy

craig thornhill Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: It's disgusting that I see pet owners being made to wait outside, there's always a crowd outside. The lockdown is OVER. A neighbour was not allowed to go in with her DYING pet that had just been run over...theres other businesses that allow thousands through their doors now, and other vets allow owners to accompany their pets, even for just a vaccine or weight check. There is obviously no compassion from these vets. Avoid at all costs, for the sake of your pets and your own mental health if you can't even say goodbye

Fantastic experience: The vet diagnosed perfectly Cocos problem of blood on passing motions and the medicine cured the condition in 3 days.Brilliant outcome for my 10 year old Pomeranian

Fantastic experience: So I had to unexpectedly put one of my lovely elderly dogs to sleep last Mon and as you can imagine, I was a total mess. The vet that I seen was Jodie and she was amazing considering the circumstances. She kept me some hair and paw prints which at the time, didnt even occur to me due to what I was having to do. This morning a card came which was also unexpected. I just want to say sorry for the mess I was in and thank you for the understanding, patience and these gestures. 16 yrs that little dog has been in my life and you made the hardest, kindest, final thing I could do for him a little more bareable so thank you for that.

Fantastic experience: The staff are always helpful and compassionate. Their care of my dogs is always top quality. Kath was fantastic with Crystal following an accident at the groomers. Won't go anywhere else.

Samuel Newington Posted on Google 4 years ago

Negative experience: Everything is always a problem. We've been using vets 4 pets for 7 years in various locations but this one has become poor. The receptionist attitude is always that you are wrong and a burden to whatever it is they are doing. Constant miscommunications, constant lack of medication available on a sensible time scale. And a complete lack of any empathy. We will be leaving this practice and going elsewhere!

Chéri Masters Posted on Google 4 years ago

Negative experience: Honestly not very good. My kittens first vaccinations and microchip, walked into the room and neither the table or scale had been sanitized. Vet proceeded to sanitize but not thoroughly enough as there was still hair and dirt over both. Appointment was very rushed to the point that I don't feel my concerns were properly looked at. I was also asked how much I paid for my kitten which is inappropriate.

Fantastic experience: Just wanted to say the staff at Vets4Pets Newport went above and beyond for my family when our beloved pet, Ozzy was sick. They rearranged their busy schedule to allow time for all the family to arrive to give us time to say our goodbyes and remain with him as he passed away. We never felt in the way even though there were 7 of us there and they were kindness personified. Their card and forget me not seeds that followed was personalised and spoke of the level of care they show to their patients and owners.

Positive experience: Took good care of my Parsons Jack Russell. He was less than pleased to be examined but they were kind and professional, great service

Negative experience: Absolutely awful vets and by the reviews this isn’t just my experience. Manager deactivated my account without tell me tried to go for booster and won’t see us. Dreadful experience manager is one of the rudest people I have meet. Disgusting !!

Stacy Chinn Posted on Google 4 years ago

Negative experience: My cat is on the health care plan. Due to illness wasn’t able to collect however the lovely nurse gave me the months missed. I then rang receptionist to order for this months and said you already have 3 months worth. I tried to explain that those were the missed ones that I’ve paid for. That I’ve paid for this months. She was really unhelpful and went over the same thing constantly and didn’t really get my point. We weren’t agreeing and I asked if someone could give me a call back as I’ve had different info from different staff before. I then received a letter that I was rude and swore. I can positively swear that this is not the case and I’m now not a customer anymore. They told me I cancelled my direct debit for the plan which I definitely did not but they said it was on there system and advised me if it doesn’t show on my account to do it now. They have no recording of the conversation which I would have been happy to listen to and it’s basically her word that stipulates. When I see the nurses or vets they have been really good but the reception is absolutely dire especially Sophie and Michelle. They sound grumpy and do not care one bit about customer service or help resolve the matter. I understand that it has been a difficult for vets but that doesn’t excuse the service I have received. I rang in explaining that my cat is on the complete care plan and that I have another cat which I would like to add. When speaking on the phone she said that would be possible and to come in and sign up when I had to come in the following week. I even mentioned I had a voucher from petsathome and she said that would be accepted. I went in and they said sorry we don’t do that anymore. Very annoying!

Fantastic experience: Amazing Vets that go above and beyond their job. Had to take my Sister Labrador in for a ear check and the Vet Jodie was amazing and talked everything through with me. Highly recommended these Vets

pedram nikabadi Posted on Google 4 years ago

Negative experience: The receptionist was extremely rude and unprofessional and no sense of politeness, they didn’t want to do the 2nd vaccination for my new born puppy, as my puppy has had their first vaccine, I have been treated so unfair and bad.

Liz Posted on Google 4 years ago

Negative experience: Following other reviewers it seems that my experience with vets for pets Newport is similar to others and I would urge people to stay away for the sake of both pets and owners. From my experience the reception staff are unfriendly, unhelpful and uncommunicative and the practice owner extremely unprofessional following a very unpleasant, confrontational, and somewhat baffling conversation with him in relation to my confusion about their covid measures and general practice. Whilst they may be struggling following Covid and various lockdowns, so is everybody else and unlike other small businesses, they do not seem to be adapting well and would request they reconsider their processes and attitudes as they appear to be losing pets and business, certainly I will be going elsewhere. There are other friendlier and more professional vets in the area that I would suggest instead.

Louise Howells Posted on Google 4 years ago

Negative experience: Very rude receptionist been using this vets for 10 years and this is the second time of being spoken too like a piece of dirt. The first time I spoke to vet about it and gave them the benefit of the doubt as vets are very good with my dogs. But rang today as I got held up in work but could only be offered an appointment in June. My friend rang directly after me and was offered an appointment on Wednesday. I know this is only for his booster and I am assuming because I’m not paying any money to them as we are on the vacs for life scheme that my dog is not priority. I do think that vets for pets only put customers who are paying as priority. As for the receptionist there I think they need a lesson in people skills

Melaina Barry Posted on Google 4 years ago

Negative experience: Awful experience here, it’s taken me a few months to even write this review coming to terms with how we were treated here. Our dog was wrongly diagnosed here and we were told we may have to think about putting her down (when this was not the case after changing vets and the new vets explaining the blood results to me). The manager here is not professional at all and didn’t follow correct policy in accordance to the VCMS. They tried to charge over £400 for medicine for my dog in which I received the exact same medicine from my new vets for less than half that price. Would never step foot in this vet again, they do not care for animals just their pockets.

Nicola Segelov Posted on Google 4 years ago

Negative experience: Waiting two days for results of a £450+ scan to confirm if my moms dog is in heart failure and treatment options. When following up by phone they were rude and after saying no results yet they put the phone back. This is after we picked up our dog covered in poo as she had a bad tummy in the cage, in there 4 hours before being scanned.

Negative experience: Absolute joke!! Couldn’t diagnose my cat gave her steroids which has made her worse, we rang PDSA at 8am who asked for her documents to be emailed, rang vets4pets at 10am to ask for the documents to be sent with the reply of “don’t worry I’ll find the email myself goodbye.” To then ring PDSA themselves at 6pm who hadn’t even received any documents because none were sent!!! We now have to wait all weekend for them to send them on Monday when our cat might not even make the weekend!!! Disgusting service

Fantastic experience: The doctor was very friendly and professional. The ladies from the reception were very freindly too. Fantastic atmosphere. Very professional service.

NIGEL BARRY Posted on Google 4 years ago

Negative experience: Would not recommend this surgery not very understanding of my dogs illness, and run by a Manager who was aggressive in his manner and thoughts when questioned with regards all issues of my dogs wellbeing

H Magana Posted on Google 4 years ago

Negative experience: No compassion for dying pets at all, nor their owners, avoid at all costs Having the name Vets4pets is false advertising and is a breach of the Trade Description Act and should be reported to trading standards. If you have no empathy for people or animals you shouldn't be in business. Please avoid this vets at all costs and check on trustpilot for Vets4pets it's a nationwide problem and a very distrustful company.

Francesca Thornhill Posted on Google 4 years ago

Negative experience: Disgusted to hear that our neighbour couldn't go into the vets with her cat which was dying, no compassion! No feeling, no empathy at all and we are no longer in lockdown so no excuses. Other vets will allow this and see pets and owners even when they aren't dying, there's hundreds of thousands of businesses that let thousands go in everyday , you should be ashamed of yourselves!

Fantastic experience: Thankyou so much for the care & kindness you showed to our lovely boy Dale in our darkest hour. Cathy showed so much compassion to him and to us thankyou so much

Gary Mason Posted on Google 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: We recently had to have our beloved cat to sleep due to various internal problems. We were offered to hold her while she passed over so she wasnt alone. A few days later we recived a letter and it was from the surgery saying sorry for our loss . I hope even at this time we can treasure the lovely moments we had. Signed By the staff.❤❤❤
