Our comment from InfoVet about Vets Now Newport:
Vets Now Newport is a dedicated emergency veterinary service that brings together a passionate team of professionals committed to providing exceptional care for pets in distress. Many customers express their gratitude for the swift and compassionate treatment their pets receive during emergencies. The staff are described as friendly, supportive, and knowledgeable, creating a welcoming environment even in the most stressful situations. Clients appreciate the thorough explanations provided by the vets regarding treatment options and the genuine care shown towards their animals.
Some of the recurring positive feedback includes:
- Quick Response Times: Most clients commend the team for their prompt service, often being seen within minutes of arriving.
- Compassionate Care: Many reviews highlight the kindness and empathy displayed by the entire staff during difficult times.
- Excellent Communication: Clients felt well-informed throughout the process, receiving updates and explanations
- Successful Outcomes: Numerous pets were provided with effective treatments, leading to satisfactory recoveries.
However, there have been some concerns regarding the costs associated with emergency care, which some find to be higher than expected. While the facility operates 24/7, the necessity of their services often comes with elevated expenses, which can be a shock for pet owners in urgent situations.

Hi Richard, thank you for your great review, I'll make sure we share this with the team in Vets Now Newport.
Fantastic experience: I’ve had to use this emergency out of hours practice 4 times since having 2 boy cats (little sods!) I couldn’t ask for more from this place. They’re so kind, caring and understanding. Couldn’t be more welcoming, warm and supportive in awful situations. Highly recommend. Thank you to everyone there
Hi Kayla, I’m so happy we could be there for you and that we were able to help your cats.
Fantastic experience: Bianca and the team have been absolutely amazing and so supportive to us. Thank you all so much for everything.

Fantastic experience: We attended Vets Now, Newport yesterday (Saturday 21/02/26), with our 14 year old Jack Russell Terrier Archie who had suddenly developed breathing difficulties. All staff were very professional, compassionate and calming during what was for us a very worrying time. The vet nurse who triaged Archie was great... Unfortunately due to our state of panic we cannot recall her name. Archie then had a consultstion with vet Bianca Bossanello... She was great.... She not only calmed us down by explaining everything clearly, and reassuring us that Archies condition although alarming for us.... Was nothing as serious as it appeared.... His difficulties were caused by mild inflammation in his throat... After a thorough examination and Bianca giving lots of care and fuss to Archie we left content and fully reassured. Well done to all staff involved in Archies care yesterday.
Hi Alan, thank you so much for your kind feedback. We’ll make sure the team sees your message - thank you for taking the time to recognise their care. We hope Archie is doing better now. Have a lovely day!
Negative experience: They Treated my dog for an emergency yesterday. Charged over 2k for scans etc. didn’t find anything or diagnose him with anything. Just Said there might be abscess in the paw yet didn’t drain it just gave antibiotics. Let him go home despite a high fever. Did not give him any pills for infections over night which led to my dogs condition to get to critical stage. Now he’s again at the vets different vets today. And they are having to try save his life although it might be too late. They are having to laser my dogs leg it got that bad because of such a terrible decision yesterday by a vet!!! Shameee big shame! Terrible vet put my dogs life at literal risk to the point I might lose him today! Shameeeee on you for failing your job!
Hi Dorian, we appreciate your feedback. Would you like to discuss this case further with a member of our team? If so, please email us on [email protected], indicating which clinic you attended, your pet’s name and the first line of your home address, postcode and highlighting your concerns.
Fantastic experience: 5 star treatment. We arrived early hours of the morning with our cocker spaniel Bonnie. Bonnie was in labour and had delivered one puppy at home but then she was having some difficulties. They saw Bonnie immediately upon arrival and gave her an injection to bring on labour again as her contractions had stopped. Bonnie then had puppy number two. She then had a further four puppies born via c section as she was getting tired and the puppies heart rates were dropping. Excellent service and excellent staff who really care! A big thank you from Bonnie and her family
Hi Julie, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service. Enjoy Bonnie and her babies ! fun times ahead for you.
Positive experience: very friendly and helpful. Saw my dog at short notice. The only issue i’ve had is that they put pressure on me to pay an additional £35 administrative fee that i don’t have to pay. After charging almost £400 to be seen, it’s a bit much to then try adding more money for no reason.
We’re glad you were happy with the service provided by our team. Vets Now apply an administration charge to all insurance claims processed by our team. The fee is charged on all standard insurance claims. The fee was introduced to reflect the professional declaration made by the vet that the treatment was appropriate and has been charged correctly. Many professional services, such as doctors, lawyers, and many veterinary practices charge for a professional declaration.
Fantastic experience: Had to make an emergency visit on a Friday eve.we were greeted by a lovely lady on reception , didn't wait long to be seen , the vet was lovely with our little izzy .Everything was explained clearly and everything question was answered clearly. I felt at ease leaving Izzy there with them to be looked after .
Hi Kerry, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service.
Fantastic experience: Somewhere you never want to go, but when you do the staff are simply amazing. Excellent communication throughout, and phenomenal care. Special mention for Christian who our little Olive fell in love with! Thank you all x
Hi, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service. What a sweetheart little Olive is !
Negative experience: We were provided with misleading and inconsistent information regarding costs throughout the entire interaction. Prior to attending, we telephoned your practice and informed the receptionist that Ralph was fully insured. We specifically asked what we would need to pay. We were clearly told that we would only be responsible for our insurance excess of £125 and £31 payable to Vets Now. Based on that information, we agreed to attend. Upon arrival, Ralph was taken from us immediately without any clear explanation of where he was being taken or what treatment would be carried out. While we trusted your professionalism, there was a distinct lack of communication. Shortly afterwards, having witnessed another client visibly distressed due to unexpected charges, I queried our own costs again. At that point, we were told the total would be £250. Although frustrated that this differed from the original figure quoted on the phone, we agreed. Within approximately 20 minutes, the cost increased to £400. Despite our frustration, my partner transferred the money and we were prepared to pay. We were then informed, within moments, that the amount had risen again to £600 due to additional charges and percentage increases. This repeated escalation of fees without proper explanation or prior consent was unacceptable. At that stage, we requested Ralph be returned to us. Instead of addressing our concerns, another member of staff accused us of being aggressive and threatened to call the police. The police were subsequently contacted, and we were refused access to our dog. We were also informed that a further £600 would be required the following morning if we could not provide insurance confirmation at 07:30, despite the fact that Tesco Insurance was closed at that time and we had already informed you that Ralph was fully insured. Throughout this traumatic situation, our three-year-old dog was critically unwell. It felt as though financial demands were prioritised over his welfare and our understanding of the situation. Tragically, Ralph passed away the following day at just three years old. May I add the police actually agreed they would also be annoyed about the cost increasing like it did and actually had sympathy and understood EXACTLY where we were coming from and were lovely.

Fantastic experience: Amazing vets, my pup was acting unusual and the vet was able to find out what was wrong very quickly and treated her for a high temp, she's now doing very well and back to her normal self, also the other week we had to put my mums dog down, they found put the problem very quickly again and supported us all the way through the process and gave us cuttings of her fur and paw prints to remember her by. Was a very hard day but with their support it was a very easy process.

Fantastic experience: Through such a stressful and emotional time, I can’t thank the staff enough for the care and support they gave my cat. Their compassion, professionalism, and dedication helped her recover so quickly. The constant communication, regular calls and texts with updates, truly showed how much they care about their patients (and their owners!). If I could have them as my permanent vet providers, I absolutely would. Thank you again for everything! (Newport)
Hi Harr, thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We really appreciate it. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service.
Fantastic experience: I can't thank you enough for everything you did for Buster. You kept in touch when you had to another procedure during the night and we only had to ring to find out how he was doing. Everyone was very friendly and was there for us as well as Buster.
Hi Ian, thanks for your review. I'm so glad we were able to help Buster when you needed us. We hope you have a lovely day!
Negative experience: As the vet said on arrival puppy very unwell due to blockage in the intestines, “ITS TIME CRITICAL”the longer it’s left the worst the prognosis and can lead to the bowel dying and even death off the pup. She needed stabilising before treating this was at 01.00 surgery was due to start around 3 am. A Large amount of money was paid and left thinking the pup was in good hands. 7.30 am (handover and different vet)received a call to say pup had not had the time Critical operation and they didn’t know when the op would happen before lunch or even after. So much for time critical. Researching this, it is a time critical procedure but they obviously didn’t treat in the urgency required or do what i paid for or agreed to. Absolutely disgusting these large corporations charge extortionate amount of money and say that they will care for your pet obviously not. The initial treatment I can’t fault to stabilise her ,but after the doom and dreadful prognosis I was told at the initial consultation and how time critical this was I was furious they didn’t do it in a time critical manner. Just to mention if the pup hadn’t needed stabilising due to shock tachycardia and deranged bloods she would have been operated on immediately. How can it go from time critical to oh it might not be done until after dinner. Subsequently we took the pup to the vet she was due to see and a successful surgery carried out. We were quoted £5k for everything by the ooh’s vet but our own vet cost £700. A very big difference and they should stop charging these extortionate amounts of money. No matter what excuses this was a lucky escape for our pup and the delay in surgery could have killed her. I am happy for the company to contact us for further details
Hi Ray, thanks for your review. I’m sorry to hear that you are unhappy after your visit to Vets Now. Fantastic experience: Very happy with the care given to my dog Cooper on Saturday 3rd . The surgery was busy but he was attended to quickly and was made comfortable after being in considerable pain on arrival. We were very grateful for the care he was given .

Hi Tim, we’re happy we could be there for you and your pet when you needed us.
Fantastic experience: We received excellent service from fabulous staff after an emergency with our Labrador on Christmas morning! We had an appointment within an hour of contact and when we arrived were seen straight away! Our dog is nervous attending the vet but after successful treatment and the care of the staff he was absolutely fine!! A huge thank you to the staff at Vets Now!!!
Hi Sarah, we’re happy we could be there for you and your pet when you needed us.
Fantastic experience: Exemplary care given to our dog, Bugsy, who was seriously ill after eating rotten food on Christmas Eve. We had phoned ahead and a nurse was waiting to take him into the surgery. A vet came out to explain what treatment would be necessary, along with the estimated cost, which I’m aware they are obliged to do. The whole team were very kind and reassuring in a very stressful scenario. We were kept updated by text overnight, so we knew our dog had stabilised and was recovering, which was a massive relief and we were able to collect him on the morning of Christmas Day. I would strongly recommend Vets Now in Newport to anyone for their professionalism coupled with compassion.
Hi Gillian, thanks so much for your positive feedback. We really appreciate it. It’s a pleasure to have helped you and gorgeous Bugsy. Have a great day.
Fantastic experience: Vets now in Newport were fabulous with my 10week old puppy They thoroughly checked him out after a fall and reassured me he was fine they were very knowledgable about his breed and gave me good advice for his future well being. They did the forms for my insurance company which saved me the hassle they do charge an admin fee for doing them but it’s worth it.
Hi there, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. I hope your puppy is now feel a little better
Fantastic experience: The staff were excellent they looked after my dog excellent the care that was given to him was excellent
Hi Gary, we work hard to ensure every client’s experience is second-to-none and we’re glad to hear you found this to be the case.
Fantastic experience: Visited on Sunday evening. They were the closest emergency vet to my home. Jasp was triaged very quickly by a lovely nurse, who treated him with care and compassion. Kate, the vet was superb, she listened to me and was incredibly thorough. Throughout our visit both Jasp and I were looked after by a really professional team. Thank you all.
Hi Allan, thanks so much for your positive feedback and lovely photos. Jasp is a beautiful boy. We really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review.
Fantastic experience: The were friendly and professional. I would recommend them. Only down side is how expensive vets places are. But worth it for my girl.
Hi Sarah, we really appreciate your kind words. We’re glad we could help you and your pet. If you’d like to see a breakdown of our costs, visit: https://www.vets-now.com/2018/01/emergency-vet-costs-prices-fees/.
Negative experience: Awful service the vet if she was a vet didn't give any I formation on what was wrong with my dog. Just suggested leave her over night and £1200 fee just to get my dog hydrated. I asked what was wrong and could j have any meds and told no. And after waiting £360 in your vets and relieved zero I formation I went home and my dog has died your company is a disgrace

Fantastic experience: Yesterday I had to use the services of Vetsnow, the out of hours emergency vets at Langston, my dog had been having seizures throughout the day and wasn’t improving, within 40 minutes of ringing them I was being seen by a nurse and then a vet (Milly). The service I received was second to none, it was extremely thorough and very professional, she explained everything, answered all our questions and concerns and allowed us time to take in all the information. I would like to thank all the staff who I met and dealt with my dogs needs and my own needs. I have no hesitation in recommending Vetsnow to anyone who requires a vet service, emergency or otherwise, I am totally impressed with my experience.
Hi Rhys, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service.
Fantastic experience: phone call to the central Vets now line was answered quickly and the operator was very helpful. After almost recovering from the cost of taking our dog to be seen ( know this is an industry wide issue, so expensive and prohibitive for many) we arrived and were calmly taken into the reception. Our dog was taken to be seen and the nurse kept us up to date. The vet was very helpful also and amazed that our dog was not causing any fuss. Luckily although hurt there were no major issues and we were given enough information to leave. Very good service which calmed us after being initially worried. Thank you for your care.
Hi Andrew, we work hard to ensure every client’s experience is second-to-none and we’re glad to hear you found this to be the case.
Fantastic experience: I would like to thank the team at Vets Now for their great care, treatment, advice and professionalism. They took care of Hugo our special dachshund and we will be forever grateful to them. Lovely bunch of people - Maria & John xx
Hi Maria, thank you for your great review, I'll make sure we share this with the team in Vets Now Newport.
Fantastic experience: We had an emergency when our dog, Cooper, experienced a seizure. From the moment I arrived, the team was outstanding. They were calm, professional, and explained every step of the treatment clearly. Thanks to their quick and compassionate care, Cooper is now stable and resting comfortably at home. Im so incredibly grateful to the vet and team for their expertise and dedication during a very stressful time. Thank you
Hi Michelle, thanks so much for your lovely feedback, it’s great to hear our team were able to help and that your pet is doing well.
Fantastic experience: Incredibly fast proactive care on a very poorly patient. Followed by further treatment in Bristol, which I would not have got had he not gone to Newport vets .
Hi Dominique, thanks for sharing your feedback. I’m so pleased our team could be there for you when you needed us most.
Negative experience: Absolutely disgusting company. In short- Took my old boy in with V&D, he never came home but had to trust they did everything they could for him- why wouldn't they right? Arranged for cremation. Over 2 weeks, I rang to find out where his ashes were. I was then told his body was still in cold storage and there were no notes on the system to say he was still there. After waiting over their own time period for a response to the complaint on this i then had to chase and chase for weeks for answers. I owed them money, but due to this disgusting mistake, i wanted some if not all of it waivered. They thought it was good enough to waiver the cremation fee (bare in mind they use a 3rd party cremation company) not good enough. Another month plus went by finally..... another £100 off. As a gesture of an apology for taking so long to respond. Still not enough. I went through VCMS ..... vets now refused to comply. Within a day i had a letter from debt collection. I had no choice but to pay the outstanding amount. Vets Now knew EXACTLY what they were doing, they knew one way or another they would get their money. For 5 long months I was fighting this, waiting for responses, back and forth, trying to get some justice. They didnt care. I feel like I lost my boy twice over. I am now questioning their clinic records as there seems to be somthing missing on the day he died, yet again I have been waiting weeks for a response. Vile company. DO NOT USE.
Hi Rachel, we are sorry to hear of your complaint with us. Due to client confidentiality, we cannot comment publicly on individual cases.
However, our dedicated team in Vets Now Newport aim to provide a professional and caring service at all times, and the most important thing to us is the welfare of pets in our care. We take any suggestion of substandard delivery of care to animals or their owners extremely seriously. All incidents are investigated thoroughly and any appropriate action necessary is taken. Our Enquiries Team ([email protected]) will be happy to support with an update on any ongoing concerns.
Negative experience: Zero stars. Exotic pet owners, avoid. Rushed here out of hours because they said they can treat birds. Only during my triage did they tell me they don't know much about birds, at which point it was too late for me to back out. Ended up getting a stool sample for them to send off so as to not completely waste my money and time. They never sent it off, didn't find out until we chased results over a week later. To add insult to injury they insisted I pay them £35 on top of the vet fees for "administrative costs" to deal with my insurer when I still had to do all the paperwork myself. Then they ignored my insurer for weeks until they threatened to permanently close my claim entirely. Absolute headache on top of everything else. My bird died a few weeks later. I'm not going to lay the blame entirely at Vets Now's door, but had we not had to delay his treatment due to the lost sample, he might have had a better prognosis. Editing to add a response to VN's reply. I was told by the receptionist that I HAD to pay the £35 fee if I was going to make an insurance claim, regardless of whether it is a reimbursement or a direct claim. Nothing about this standard of quality malarkey. No other vet has ever charged me for this, so make sure you go to a different vet and save your money. The fact VN claim I paid £35 for what essentially boils down to the vet's "seal of approval" when they knew absolutely nothing about birds and failed to do the bare minimum expected from a vet would be laughable if it hadn't had such severe ramifications for my bird. Pathetic.
Hi there, with regards to the insurance admin fee which we charge or £35.00, the veterinary surgeon is making a professional declaration that, to the best of their knowledge and belief, all information provided on the form is true and complete and that the fees charged are no more than the fees they would normally charge their clients. Completion of the form is more than an act of administration, rather a professional statement, similar to a doctor’s letter for example, which would be required to verify information given to an insurance company. As such, completion of the form attracts a fee. We’re sorry to hear you’re unhappy after visiting to Vets Now. If you’d like to discuss any aspect of your visit further, please don’t hesitate to contact [email protected] highlighting your concerns & indicating which clinic you attended, your pet’s name, the first line of your home address & postcode.
Fantastic experience: I wanted a 2nd opinion for my dogs health. Vets now have always been thorough. They did extra tests that my normal vets didn’t offer. They seemed concerned about dogs health when taking him in. I feel vets now did all the could, explained everything and was all about getting my dog back to health why I didn’t feel in my original vets. Really happy with the care they gave my dog and advise and help they gave us. Would highly recommend We’ve used vets now a few times over the last 13 years and they’ve always been a valuable and great company!
Hi Carys, thank you for your great review, I'll make sure we share this with the team in Vets Now Newport.
Fantastic experience: Staff were incredibly helpful and kind in what could have been a really stressful situation. Reception were friendly, helpful and very welcoming and the vet took the time to explain everything to make sure we understood what was happening at every stage. Thank you!

Hi there, thanks for the positive review. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service.
Fantastic experience: We just got home after a horrifying ordeal with our dog Rogue. Rogue is a very nervous girl and hates almost everyone but the whole team made her and myself feel so comfortable despite Rogue being so under the weather. They treated her quickly, and treated me with so much compassion and kindness. I honestly think she was a bit sad to leave them! We are so lucky to have such amazing emergency care on our doorstep when we need them. You are all angels, every single one of you. Now Rogue is sleeping happily next to me and I cannot believe the U-Turn she turned after spending a few hours with the girls. I am beyond grateful ❤️
Hi Tia , thanks so much for your lovely feedback, it’s great to hear our team were able to help and that Rogue is doing well.
Fantastic experience: The most incredible team who gave our boy Yogi the best care possible and saved his life. All staff were brilliant, thank you all so much.
Hi Frederica, thanks for your positive feedback, I’m glad our team were there to help.
Fantastic experience: I can't be more greatful for the help they gave coco and me when we needed it most. No other vets offered the help they did for us. We are extremely greatful for the help that was provided for my dog! Thank you from a very happy and brighter Coco
Hi Sadie, thanks for sharing your feedback. I’m so pleased our team could be there for you & Coco when you needed us most.
Fantastic experience: Service was very efficient and vet was lovely. Saw my dog very fast and explained everything I needed to know. The vet even arranged a referral so that I could attend as soon as possible.
Hi Andrea, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service.
Fantastic experience: I phoned 5 other vets before vets4pets blackwood, trying to get my six week old kitten seen and I am so glad the others didn't answer or wouldn't take him. £56 for the consultation, which I thought was very reasonable and then a further £33 for treatment and medication, which again was very reasonable. A perfect experience from start to finish
Fantastic experience: Had to take our girl Princess here on Bank Holiday Monday, after hurting herself on a walk. A really lovely, friendly, helpful team. They were amazing with our girl so we couldn't be happier. Thank you all so much. She healed up really quickly. If you ever go here, know your pet will be in really good hands.
Hi Nicola, thanks so much for your positive feedback. We really appreciate it. It’s a pleasure to have helped you and your pet. Have a great day.
Positive experience: I gave 4 stars because it was so far to travel too.I am very happy with the way my cat was treated. She,s back to her best nearly, she needed an operation and she,s now catching up on her food and sleep.
Hi David, thanks so much for your positive feedback. We really appreciate it.
Positive experience: Difficult one as the vet was amazing but the charges are extortion 149.99 just for a 2 min consultantation to get sent home everything is fine to then rush back down few hours later and have to pay again then told unless you pay 900 upfront we cant take the puppy and treat her overnight then your told to take out klarna or and put yourself into debt or your animal dies its all about the money sad to see as again the vet was a lovely woman
Hi Tasha, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. We appreciate your feedback about the cost of our service. Generally, it’s a lot more expensive to run an out-of-hours clinic and our costs tend to reflect this. For a thorough breakdown of where our fees and profits go, you can visit: https://www.vets-now.com/2018/01/emergency-vet-costs-prices-fees/ . If you’d like to discuss any aspect of your visit further, please don’t hesitate to contact [email protected], indicating which clinic you attended, your pet’s name and the first line of your home address.
Negative experience: It appeared to me that there was a push to add more tests in an attempt to get more money. Supplied and charged meds that the vet wasn't able to administer but expected me to do it. The dog wasn't taking any food so method of tempting him to disguise the tablets was pointless. On visiting my own vet it was obvious that there was no hope and on discussion it was in the best interest to let him go. The emergency vet could have made that suggestion.

Fantastic experience: Very appreciative of the effort the staff took during a busy bank holiday Sunday (out of hours). Thank you to the staff, nurses and vets for your care, it made a very stressful morning so much easier.
Hi Tali, thanks for sharing your feedback. I’m so pleased our team could be there for you when you needed us most.
Fantastic experience: Thank you for the attention given to my dog Gwenllian on her visit to your practice , the vet and assistants were very caring ..and went threw every possibility of my dogs illness ... sorry didn't know vets name but she was lovely ..thank you
Hi Rosemary, thanks for your positive feedback, I’m glad our team were there to help.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend, the staff are so friendly, helpful and genuinely caring towards my dog when he was very unwell put me at ease and explained thoroughly what was happening and gave the best treatment.
Hi Lorraine, thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. I’m so happy we could be there for you and that we were able to help your pet.
Fantastic experience: Amy the vet at Newport branch on Saturday 17 August was so lovely in what was a stressful situation when I recently took my dog in after she swallowed fishing line. Amy was reassuring and communicated what would be happening every step of the way. Happy outcome for my dog who is now perfectly fine. Thank you Amy.
Hi Allison, thanks for sharing your feedback. I’m so pleased our team could be there for you when you needed us most.
Fantastic experience: Very professional and helpful however the place could have been cleaner. The vet Andrea we saw was very professional and understanding.
Hi Melanie, thanks so much for letting us know how we did. If you’d like to discuss any aspect of your visit further, please don’t hesitate to contact [email protected], indicating which clinic you attended, your pet’s name, the first line of your home address and your reason for getting in touch.
Fantastic experience: Good calm advice at a very stressful time, everyone was really supportive and following the advice our dog is fine now. Thanks to all. Fair price for an emergency appointment in the evening.
Hi Skye, thanks so much for your lovely feedback, it’s great to hear our team were able to help and that your pet is doing well.
Positive experience: Have had animals that have needed to come here in the past, either over the weekend or past the time when our vets have shut. They worked very hard to get our pet seen, even though sometimes the wait can be a while. It is pretty much an A&E for animals thats open all the time. They have been very helpful on each visit I have had, including my most recent visit. Thanks to them for that. The only thing I will say is how expensive a consultation and treatments are here. It is expected due to it being open all the time, it adds extreme pressure for the staff. I was informed that my pets treatment would cost around £650-£700. This was for a surgery type treatment. They said I could wait and ask my vet the following day if they could do the surgery. I had followed up with my vet that quoted £250 for the surgery. That's quite a big difference, one that I was not expecting and came as a shock at how much more expensive the treatment from here was. Price aside however, they are extremely helpful and polite. Recommended to anyone who needs an emergency vet.
Hi there, thanks for your feedback on the cost of your pet’s care at Vets Now. We appreciate that taking an unplanned trip to an emergency care provider can be frustrating. It’s much more expensive to run an emergency clinic than a regular daytime veterinary practice and our prices do reflect this. For a thorough breakdown and explanation of our pricing policy, feel free to visit: https://www.vets-now.com/2018/01/emergency-vet-costs-prices-fees/
Fantastic experience: I cannot praise the staff on duty on the night of Saturday 19th July enough. From the receptionist to the nurse and the vet (sorry, I do not know any of their names) they showed professionalism and compassion to the maximum when we had our old girl put to sleep. The vet even made us a cup of tea before we set off back home. Thank you for your kindness in what was a very sad and upsetting situation.
Hi Keith, thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. I'm so sorry for your loss, we all know how hard it is losing a loved one. Our thoughts are with you all at this difficult time. Take care.
Negative experience: Brought my dog in for an emergency appointment with heat stroke they were quick to act to get him cooled down but failed to do a blood test as he’s now fighting for his life with kidney failure because they didn’t check. If it was done on the appointment it could have been dealt with rather than saying he would be fine in a 24 hours . We noticed the next morning his condition got dramatically worse and made another emergency appointment with his own vet that did do a blood test and found the extent of the kidney damage he is now in the intensive care of a animal hospital. Hence my review of 1 star as it shouldn’t have got to this point if they would have just checked he would have had a better chance of him getting better..
Hi Stuart. Thanks for your review. I’m sorry to hear that you are unhappy after your visit to Vets Now. Fantastic experience: Very good practice millie was excellent and the girls at the practice so understandable explain everything about my dog gunner they was so helpful best vets I've ever know I've had dogs all my life at the moment I now 58 years old I've got 11 dogs and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this vets in the future thanks guys
Hi Martin, thanks so much for your positive feedback. We really appreciate it. It’s a pleasure to have helped you and your pet. Have a great day.
Fantastic experience: Excellent response, and care given by John the vet, to diagnose and perform an emergency operation - thank you so much for giving us our dog back with a new lease of life.
Hello Roger, we appreciate the positive review about your recent experience with us.
Positive experience: The vet was fantastic with my Gsd, who sadly had a pup stuck, But the prices are extortionate, I really feel for people who loves their animals but can’t afford these prices, if the beloved pet needs to be seen urgently what happens if they haven’t got the money, would they still see the animal, or let the animal suffer because the owner hasn’t got the funds,

Fantastic experience: Bianca the vet was absolutely exceptional this weekend, when we took in our poorly cat Otto. Bianca was super thorough, reassuring, calm and very clearly someone who cares about getting your pets care right! She talked us through all of the different risks associated in plain English, without complicating things and even talked us through measures she would NOT take & explained why. She was so kind to our boy and we are so grateful for her advice and help. Luckily Otto managed to overcome his symptoms while we were in the clinic and didn’t end up needing the treatment we had been talked through, but we felt in very safe hands if he had needed the treatment. The vets here work SO hard and are working in extremely difficult circumstances with emergency cases coming in every couple of minutes while we sat in the waiting room. I was sobbing just seeing other animals in pain so I have soo much time and respect for the professionals here. You are all doing amazing work and I really hope you know the difference you make, thank you so much ❤️
Hi Beth, we work hard to ensure every client’s experience is second-to-none and we’re glad to hear you found this to be the case.
Fantastic experience: Amazing, the vet and reception staff were so easy to deal with, the vet explained everything and went through the steps we needed to take, so our little girl could go on with a happy life, thank you all at Vets Now
Hi Liz, thanks so much for your positive feedback. We really appreciate it.
Fantastic experience: They looked after our pet dog and explained everything what they were going to do and what they did and were very polite and helpful and provided the necessary medication to get our dog back on the road to recovery.
Hi Philip, thanks for sharing your feedback. I’m so pleased our team could be there for you when you needed us most.
Fantastic experience: Excellent service. Thank you so much to the Vet who dealt with us and our dog Ellie in the early hours of sat 12th July. He was very helpful and knew exactly what was wrong so put our minds at rest. Thank you again.
Hi Ann, I’m so happy we could be there for you and that we were able to help Ellie. Thank you for your feedback.
Fantastic experience: After contacting vets now in Newport on a Saturday afternoon for a emergency appointment after a wrong diagnosis off my own vet they seen her kept her in and found out the issue quickly and treated her over night and performed emergency surgery…. They were compassionate friendly and kept me updated through the whole experience well…. I have no doubt in my mind that they saved my little Darcy’s life…. Thank you so much vets now Newport
Hi Debbie, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It’s a pleasure to have helped you and your pet. Have a great day.
Fantastic experience: Amy, Bianca & the team were not only supportive but they did everything they could to save our chow ghost. Something we will never forget. Would 100% recommend & trust them with all my future pets. Ghost is home now after spending a few days at my mother’s in her bungalow, our other chow Odin hasn’t left him alone since he got back an hour ago. Many thanks to this amazing veterinary team x
Hi Richard, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service.
Fantastic experience: Vet and team were amazing. They kept me informed of my dogs progress throughout the 24hrs he was with them. I would highly recommend Vets Now as they took fantastic care of my dog.
Hi Tracey, we appreciate all reviews and thank you for leaving a 5 star rating.
Negative experience: Not enough prior communication of a 4 to 5 hour wait to be seen. Understand the nature of different circumstances but we drove along way. Could have been told over phone and give us the option of maybe waiting to see own vet next day. Also the catchment area for an emergency vet practice was to much.
Hi Jerrard, we appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback. We’re all animal lovers at Vets Now and can understand the frustration of having to wait a while for your pet to be seen by a veterinary professional.
Would you like to discuss this case further with a member of our team? If so, please email us on [email protected], indicating which clinic you attended, your pet’s name and your home address.
Fantastic experience: Our dog broke his leg on a Saturday evening while out for a walk, the vets now team and langstone were so kind, compassionate and caring nothing was too much trouble for them they kept me updated day and night and now our boy is on the mend thank you for everything
Hi Tayla, I’m so happy we could be there for you and that we were able to help your pet.
Fantastic experience: I want to thank all the staff for the excellent consultation I experienced with Betsie (my dog). The care, concern and examination was amazing - Betsie was completely at home with you all even tho I was a bit of a mess but felt so much better after talking to you all. Vets Now - thankyou x
Hi Janette, we really appreciate your kind words. It’s a pleasure to have helped you and your pet. Have a great day.
Fantastic experience: From the moment we stepped inside the door we were welcomed also the lady made a fuss of our poorly dog, We were seen by a triage nurse quite quickly even though it was a bank holiday and they were busy . We didn't have to wait long before the vet came and examined our beautiful but poorly dog . She was very caring explained every thing told us what to look out for with her condition. She then administered an antisickness injection. She made us feel at ease with the problems. We've only 1 negative and that's the initial fee for attending a vet after hours of your normal veterinary surgery, not every got insurance and couldn't afford such a high fee , it really does need addressing.

Negative experience: This picture is my STORM It has come to my attention last night when dropping my cat (Storm) into the emergency vets due to my pet losing feeling in his legs and seems to be in a lot of pain when trying to stand or walk. After speaking to the vet, I am very upset with the decision that I received in regard's to how we as a family could help or assist my cat as he needed help. I was ensured on the out of hours phone call that they wouldn’t suggest that they will advise to put my 10 year old cat to sleep and they would try their hardest to help him which wasn’t the case as the vet repeatedly said about putting him to sleep due to the pain and seizures. Not only that, when going into a room where I could greave for my pet that was no longer going to be within our family. There was a lot of staff that appeared to be laughing while myself and family was crying in the next room saying our final goodbyes to our family bet who was well loved which I found this very disrespectful as a vet they should understand that things like this isn’t on and it’s very hard on people losing their family pet. There wasn’t a lot of reassurance given throughout, it was demonstrated what would happen put as soon as he was ‘sleeping’ the vet immediately wrapped him up in the blanket that they provided which he had his own and needed to wait to have back. I didn’t have the time to let him to or just have the extra 5 minutes with him after he went to sleep. Also, I would like to raise to my attention that it wasn’t explained about the payment plans only about the name of the app which wasn’t showing on the app once downloaded into my phone but also wasn’t explained how they work. I would have preferred to have used the payment plans as I needed to use saving to help pay for the amount that was needed to be paid. This vets have very upset me as this is the first time I’ve experienced this as my first visit with my former male cat was brilliant and I felt this needed to be addressed. As people are not thinking and needs the time to understand everyone as their minds are elsewhere and don’t know what to do with all the information and payments that need to be done.

Fantastic experience: Our labrador Beau received very good treatment from the Vets Now clinic over the Bank Holiday weekend. The team made a very stressful situation bearable, taking swift control and providing the appropriate medical intervention to aid a full recovery.
Hi Yvonne, thanks for sharing your feedback. I’m so pleased our team could be there for you when you needed us most.
Fantastic experience: Very prompt response to our call and immediate attention when we arrived. Lovely vet and nurse looked after our Norwegian Forest Cat with an abscess on her neck.
Hi Alison, thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. It’s a pleasure to have helped you and your pet. Have a great day.
Fantastic experience: In such sad and challenging circumstances, the wonderful team showed compassion, kindness and dignity when we had to say an unexpected goodbye to our beautiful boy, Gus. We'll be forever grateful for supporting us.
Hi, I’m so sorry for your loss, it’s never easy to lose a much-loved pet.
Fantastic experience: Visited on the evening of 12/05/2025 with my poorly Jack Russell Toby, unfortunately he had to be put to sleep. All staff from Receptionist to Vet were really compassionate and really helped with an awful situation, thank you all
Hi Nigel, thanks for taking the time to share your experience with us at this difficult time, I’ll be sure to pass this to our team at Vets Now Newport. Take care
Fantastic experience: I want to personally thank the guys at this surgery on behalf of me and my partner for doing everything they could for Zeus. They were so kind and considerate at a very difficult time. They were incredibly professional and fought for him as best they could.
Hi there, thanks so much for your positive feedback. We really appreciate it.
Fantastic experience: Amazing, friendly service. They helped our cat who came in with a bad facial injury after he went missing 5 years ago, overjoyed that we are reunited. so grateful thank you
Hi Lisa, thanks for sharing your feedback. I’m so pleased our team could be there for you when you needed us most.
Fantastic experience: Had to take my dog for an urgent appointments on the bank holiday. Fantastic service from start to finish. Everyone very professional and helpful. It is very expensive on a bank holiday but my pet is worth it. Thankfully insured. Treatment here was first rate. Newport Vets Now Emergency.
Hi Ian , I’m so happy we could be there for you and that we were able to assist with your pet.
Negative experience: DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! EVER!!!!!! I had to bring my new kitten here yesterday on the drive back from picking him up. I had 2 kittens from the same litter. A couple of nights ago his sister caught him in the eye play fighting causing it to swell up. When I collected him his eye was closing and weeping but I agreed with the lady i got him from that I would have him checked out as her vet was closed until Tuesday due to bank holiday and they advised her to do a saline solution wash on his eye and to see how he goes. On the way home his eye seemed to be getting worse and he was sneezing too. It was leaking green discharge. I was recommended this vets by my local one and from the moment I arrived I regret taking him. The vet I saw was unbelievably cold and cruel. She told me to get him out of his carrier but to stand that side of that table as where I was stood getting him out was her side. She didn’t greet the kitten or speak to him to calm him just gave me a telling off for having the breed. Told me he had cat flu and to return him straight away. This was in front of my child who was worried for the baby following such excitement having him. I explained I would take care of him if he was sick as that’s what people do for their pets. She said ‘ and good owners know when to return an animal’ He had no temperature and his lungs were clear. The information I was giving her she kept repeating back wrong to me like she wasn’t listening to anything I said and just seemed more annoyed I had more than one of the same breed than actually helping him. She laughed at me, shook her head at me all while I was crying and emotional and asking questions about how I can help him. She didn’t bother putting the eye drops prescribed in his eye so I said ‘ are you not going to bother to put any drops in his eye? ‘ to which she replied ‘ yes I can put the first lot in now if you want ‘ She left the consultation room and never returned. She didn’t explain how to use the eye drops or wish us well or say bye or anything! Just walked away. I worked in optics a long time so I knew how to use the drops but still, she didn’t know that. The bill came to £450 which is crazy for what was done for the baby. An anti inflammatory injection and some chloramphenicol eye drops ( for humans as they’d run out ) and that very same chloramphenicol she gave me costs £8! I know the out of hours charge was £149 but the remaining £300 is insane. I asked for a copy of the receipt with the breakdown of the cost as she just gave me a card receipt at the front desk. She took my email to forward it on but it’s not been sent. The kittens were all vet checked along with mama last week and all were healthy. The vet also told me he should not have had his first vaccine yet ( age 9 weeks ) cold, cruel, rude people who should not be working with animals. No compassion at all. No empathy or sensitive approach during upsetting and worrying times. Didn’t offer to check my girl or ask if I wanted her to have a quick check while she was there , just told me to take her back too! The receptionist wasn’t the nicest either. Awful AWFUL people. I’ll be taking this further and going to the papers following this cruelty.

Fantastic experience: We visited this vets practice by accident as we live miles away and our dog had to see emergency vet. All I can say is that I wish we lived closer and they were our regular vets - they were all incredible- Professional, kind and so caring - Stephanie is brilliant- on fact we dealt with multiple members of staff and they were all phenomenal- thank you so much for looking after our Lurcher, Lupin.
Hi Eleanor, we work hard to ensure every client’s experience is second-to-none and we’re glad to hear you found this to be the case.
Fantastic experience: The team at Vets Now were so kind and loving to our dog when he was unwell, the level of care they gave was unparalleled. Their communication was second to none, they kept us informed every step of the way and went above and beyond, one vet text us before the end of her shift to reassure us that our dog had eaten (which was our biggest concern) we didn't ask for this, it was just done to reassure us. You can tell the team know exactly what worried owners need to hear every step of the way. If we lived closer, I wouldn't hesitate to transfer our dogs care to Vets Now permanently. Thank you for helping our boy!!
Hi Sophie, we work hard to ensure every client’s experience is second-to-none and we’re glad to hear you found this to be the case.
Positive experience: I had an emergency visit on Easter Sunday. My cat Munch had constipation and he was very uncomfortable and suffering a lot. Staff and vets were fantastic, very kind and supporting. Problem was sorted! Munch happy! Waiting time was a bit longer, but there were a lot of pets, so, no probs at all! Thank you for your hard work!
Hi Liga, we’re happy we could be there for you and Munch when you needed us. Fantastic experience: I had to take my Zeus here as an emergency on 9th April 2025, everyone was very caring and I could not have asked for better for my boy, the staff were very caring the male vet we had (sorry I didn't catch his name) due to the seriousness of my boys illness, although everyone tried their very best for my boy the outcome was not what we wanted. BUT I would definitely say if your pet is needing an emergency vet look no further than these, they are ALL caring and compassionate and spent many hours trying to save my boy who had bloat. Thank you to you all it meant the whole world that you tried your very best for him.
Hi Katherine, we’re all animal lovers at Vets Now and understand how hard the loss of a pet can be. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. Thank you for your kind words, take care.
Fantastic experience: I had to take my 8 week old tiny yorkie puppy here over the Easter weekend. The staff were absolutely amazing, from the lovely receptionist to the brilliant vet, who we saw after just a short wait. They were so caring and reassuring. It became quite busy but everyone was triaged straight away and dealt with accordingly. Definitely 5 stars from myself and Freya
Hi Lianne, thanks for sharing your feedback. I’m so pleased our team could be there for you and Freya when you needed us most.
Fantastic experience: We had to take our elderly dog to Vets Now on Bank Holiday Monday after he collapsed, and they were fantastic. There was no messing around on arrival, Jenny the receptionist was amazing and got our dog to the nursing team immediately, who triaged him and got him ready for the vet, gave him meds to make him comfortable and looked after him. The vet owain was lovely, really patient and kind, and answered all of our questions. I was very impressed with the quick, efficient and excellent care our dog recieved.
Hi Kate, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service!
Fantastic experience: Excellent service. All very friendly and kind. My dog loved everyone there so much that she went back wagging the next day and was very excited for all the attention and love she received. Thank you very much.
Hi Lucy, thanks for sharing your feedback. I’m so pleased our team could be there for you when you needed us most. We’ll be sure to pass on your encouraging feedback to our team. Take care
Fantastic experience: Would definitely recommend Vets Now. They were so patient and caring to our old girl. She came back home better and stronger than ever! Clinic was always clean and tidy. The team really understood our worries and done the best for us, always kept us updated and never left us in the dark.
Hi Michaela, we work hard to ensure every client’s experience is second-to-none and we’re glad to hear you found this to be the case.
Fantastic experience: I had to take my puppy to Vets Now recently for an emergency out-of-hours visit as she was being sick constantly. From the moment we arrived, the staff were so lovely and polite, which really helped in such a stressful situation. The vet was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and approachable, taking the time to thoroughly assess my puppy and explain everything clearly. They showed real care and patience, making sure I understood the treatment plan and felt reassured before leaving. I’m so grateful for the excellent service and would highly recommend Vets Now to anyone needing emergency pet care.
Hi Shan, we really appreciate your review! Take care and have a good day
Fantastic experience: I have been referred to NowVets Newport twice from my veterinary practice in Ebbw Vale – once for my chocolate lab, who needed surgery on his hind leg, and more recently for our 15-year-old cat, who sadly had to be euthanised due to complications from an underlying condition. On both occasions, the care and compassion shown by the staff, particularly the vet, were truly exceptional. They were knowledgeable, helpful, and most importantly, incredibly compassionate. It was clear that their priority was the wellbeing of our animals, not profit, which is rare to find these days. Their empathy and support during such difficult times meant the world to us. I can’t recommend NowVets Newport enough – they genuinely care about both pets and their owners. Thank you for making such a tough experience a little easier.
Hi, our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service.
Fantastic experience: My dog had a life threatening emergency late at night (and is now recovering well). I found the staff to be highly professional, skilled and empathetic. They explained exactly what was wrong, what needed to be done, the risks involved, possible outcomes (good or bad) and the estimated cost every step of the way.
Hi, thanks so much for your lovely feedback, it’s great to hear our team were able to help and that your pet is doing well.
Fantastic experience: Our experience with Vets now has been excellent. All the staff we interacted with has been knowledgeable, attentive and caring. Thank you all for taking care of Maple, she couldn't have been in a better place. They even wrote posters all over the building that there was a rabbit admitted to keep quiet and the heating on. I am forever grateful!
Hi Raluca, I’m so happy we could be there for you and that we were able to help your pet.
Negative experience: These guys offered my dog an overnight stay and an operation he did not need, this would have cost me far more money than was necessary. When I repeatedly asked questions they ignored me for six months and then reduced a bill from almost £1000 to £363. My dog NEVER NEEDED THE OPERATION THEY OFFERED and was absolutely fine the next day - thank goodness we had the sense to take him home. Do not trust these people, I am talking the a local paper as we speak to make sure people know about these Rogue Vets who sent horrible emails basically saying please go away we are busy. The knock on effect is that my dog insurance has tripled to £60 almost! Now my poor dog doesn’t have insurance well done VETS NOW NEWPORT!!!
Hi Kelly. I am very sorry if you remain unhappy following contact with our team. If you have outstanding concerns, please contact our complaints department to discuss this further.
Fantastic experience: This is the second time I’ve visited in the last month unfortunately however the care my girl received at Vets now was second to none. I can’t remember the vet’s name that we saw both times but he was fantastic, knowledgeable and very sympathetic to how nervous she was, we both felt very reassured after our consult with him. A truly excellent clinic and reassuring to know they are always there out of hours when needed. Thank you so much for looking after my girl so well. Jade
Hi Jade, our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service.
Fantastic experience: First class service, yes its expensive but was out of hours and my little dog is a double dapple daschund who is blind and deaf with complex additional needs, the staff were amazing at putting him at ease and dealing with his condition quickly and effectively, photo for cuteness , top marks for Vets Now
Hi Rachel, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service.
Fantastic experience: Very greatful to all the staff at vets now. When we initially rang on Sunday early evening they told us to come straight in and saw to us straight away. We then rang later on in the evening and was provided with in-depth advise over the phone at no charge. By Monday morning we were back at the vets and although there was a wait it was early morning and another dog that was in more need than us. We were really offered water and blankets for our dog to keep him comfy. Once seen the vet recognised our dog needed referral straight away and we were sent straight to a specialist who can perform the operation. Their ability to deal with the insurance company direct really alleviates the pressure and on our second visit we were told to head straight over to the referral hospital and they would deal with the fees with our insurance as our dog was our priority which was reassuring to hear showing they really do care about pets. Thank you all for your help.
Hi Rachel, I’m so happy we could be there for you and that we were able to help your pet.
