Kings Veterinary Centre: Reviews
Positive experience: Good service but a bit expensive
Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend these vets enough. Have so much passion, love and empathy towards animals. My baby girl had neurological issues and was paralysed for 12 months they tended to her care throughout and when it was time for her to go nan nights, they did this with such love and compassion at such a heart wrenching time. Highly reccomend. Such lovely receptionists, nurses and vets. Won't go anywhere else ❤
Fantastic experience: Everyone is so helpful. And give great advice. My dogs are 15yrs 6mths and other is 13yrs
Fantastic experience: Superb vets. When busy its like jungle jims for dogs! Funny really. Luna the rottweiler is numb at the variety of dogs to savage.
Fantastic experience: Friendly, efficient and reasonable priced.
Fantastic experience: Best vets I have experienced, been 3 years since my dog has been here and all the staff members are very helpful especially Lucinda. Big credit to you and hats off to the rest. Keep up the hard work! Midnight loves you all!
Positive experience: Helpful receptionists and nurses, you can tell they love animals which matters to me. The vets that Clyde has seen have been knowledgeable and listened. The cost is about average I think and they are helpful with insurance claims
Fantastic experience: Our cat pooed and was sick due to nerves on arrival immediately taken in the back and cleaned up. Lucinda was compassionate and helped as much as possible due to limited finances. Advice given to help him. Will book in when I can for operation. Receptionist friendly.
Fantastic experience: Kings vets are taking such good care of our two cats and are always so lovely and caring ☺️
Fantastic experience: Wonderful vet and plan is better value than our old vet (pets at home)
Fantastic experience: Kings vets helped me out when I was in a pickle looking after a family members pet who was poorly. They allowed her to come despite not being registered, saw her quickly and gave us peace of mind on her condition. Big thanks to them for helping out when lots of others wouldn’t/ couldn’t help!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic service as always, treats and treasures pets as their own. Will highly recommend
Positive experience: Over all good experience with my pet
Fantastic experience: Best vets in the local area, have used a few different vets. Kings has been by far the best in my experience.
Fantastic experience: Friendly and very supportive staff, all about the animals.
Fantastic experience: Best place around for me personally.
Fantastic experience: Ok.nice helpful staff. Parking available
Fantastic experience: We moved vet as didn't feel our old vets were truthful or have our pets best interests in mind. Kings vets go above and beyond to help they work there best to fit our pet in when needed and 100% care, not just a business making money. I would definitely recommend them.
Negative experience: The reason I have left 2* is due to my experience to what the vets say then to what it actually is. What I assumed the injurt on my cat’s toe was showing a toe nail rip, they never mentioned being a tumour until I took her for her second check up; where the frankein stein individual at the Melton Mowbry branch said nothing about a tumour except I paid the £500 then on the 2nd visit the nurse said it will cost another £600 to get her tested in sedation knowing this was suppose to be done when we paid £500! Now I’m going PDSA to hear the same except to pay more at a discount for her to live because the subject is ‘Money’ as if there is no choice becauae the vets have the power to have you feel all sorts due to the cost of living! I pray my cat lives, but damn the vets are souless as the doctors for us!
Negative experience: Originally 'kennel cough' in the end 'humongous tumour.' Another similar experience below! My dog was PTS in Jan. I took my dog to the vet with a persistent cough & hacking. She was also being sick A LOT & had diarrhea. I was worried it was something serious especially with her being a somewhat older dog. The vet didn't seem concerned & he said it was kennel cough. I did ask why she was being sick so much & he said that it was the kennel cough. He was confident about this & seemed unconcerned with her symptoms. He prescribed antibiotics. Phew, it was all nothing serious. The cough subsided mostly & she did pick up a bit. But I unfortunately (with hindsight) wasn't in a rush to get her back to the vet as the vet had seemed so unconcerned by her symptoms in this first visit. Late December, the cough got worse, she was being sick & went off her food. I called the vet back explained the symptoms & booked in a blood test. The vet rang me with the blood results & said they were pretty good - slight anemia & slightly high white blood cells. He said he thought it was pancreatitis. I asked if it was pancreatitis why was she coughing? He said it was probably just bronchitis in her old age. Nothing life threatening, this eased my concerns a lot again. She seemed to pick up over the next couple of days & then got worse and she collapsed one day in January. I got a scan & found a huge tumour on her spleen. The vet rang & said 'It's not good news I'm afraid, there's a huge tumour on her spleen & we believe it's hermangiosarcoma. You have 3 options 1) bring her home for two weeks 2) do surgery but the prognosis isn't good 1-2 months 3) PTS whist asleep.' she was too sick to come home. The options were so bleak so it sounded like the kindest thing was to let her sleep. *A different vet ech time Since then, I've learnt all about hermangiosarcoma. With these tumours there's a 2/3 rule! The lay person would never know about but a vet would! 2/3 of splenic tumours are cancerous and 1/3 benign! Vets can't tell at all by looking at the tumour whether it's cancer and the only way to know is through surgery. She never mentioned this! The only way to have some kind of idea that the tumour is cancer is 1) If the tumour's bleeding - my dog's wasn't. Which means her case of benign chance was more 60-70% 2) If it has spread - there was no evidence of spread in my dog. Research also suggests the larger the tumour the more likely it is to be benign - my dogs was huge and if it was this 'aggressive cancer' how had it got so massive and she was still here. Every case I've read on this cancer the dog's tumour is bleeding out & the dog has got sick suddenly out of nowhere. My dog didn't follow this pattern and had been sick for some time. I honestly feel I've put my dog down for a benign tumour and her sickness was due to the size the tumour had grown & it pressing on her organs. But I just wasn't educated on this at the time and trusted the vet to give me the correct information. I feel like people should be made aware of the 2/3 rule. Also, have it explained to them that when there is no sign of spread or bleeding this is more positive! and given all the information correctly so they can make an informed decision before choosing to put their dog to sleep. If I'd have been told this further info or known there was a slight chance the tumour could be benign. i would have given my dog the fighting chance. I have also found out that the majority of dogs develop cancer or masses in their golden ages and it is a common cause of death in dogs over 10. I naively didn't know this as a first time dog owner and a non-vet! There should definitely be more awareness around this & vets shouldn't just be diagnosing older dogs with 'kennel cough' and throwing antibiotics at them. The vet should inform owners of older dogs having this heightened risk of cancer & helping them to understand and be mindful of this. Especially when symptoms like coughs, excessiveness sickness, diarrhea & loss of appetite are showing up and the owner is expressing concerns.
Fantastic experience: The staff at kings are so understanding and the receptionists are very helpful also. Would definitely recommend
Positive experience: Very good service. Friendly staff and very good environment. Always take our cat for check up and advice
Fantastic experience: So very helpful looked after my cats x
Fantastic experience: Very nice staff
Fantastic experience: kings vets have always looked after our Poppy (Pole) and always been available in an emergency. We sadly had to have Poppy put to sleep after loving her for 15 years on December 23rd and although our family where heartbroken Lucinda looked after us all with such compassion and Poppy was looked after as usual with such care. We are so grateful to Lucinda and the team at Kings Vets.
Negative experience: Care more about money than the animals, it's all a scam from the prices of the medication to the prices of the vets medical opinions. Even if you know the medication you need because your pet has been on the medication for years they still charge you to see a vet just to say "yes it's the same thing and yes I will prescribe you the same medication as I have the last few years! And if there is an emergency and it's on a weekend then you will need a loan just to see a vet. If you do not have the money then they will refuse to help your animals because it's all about the money. A true animal lover would never refuse to help an animal in need regardless of the expense! Even if you just want a prescription printing so you can order online because the prices are half the price online for medication then they add a admin fee to print off the prescription separately to the vet consultant fee then you will only save £10 online and will have to wait a few days for the medication in the post! But they know this! I honestly dont know who the vets think they are, acting like royalty and above everyone, There scamming you!
Negative experience: My baby had a tumor, twice said it was kennel cough, asked for an X-ray she had 2and half months left with me , I can't say I know more than the vet does but I have question myself this many times and still do
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff always seen on time it's the only place where my cat behaves.
Negative experience: An absolute rip off! Disgusting prices. Try and find somewhere which is affordable before you try Kings. Its used to be fairly priced but greed has taken over. Wish I could leave 0 stars.
Fantastic experience: All staff from reception, veterinary nurse to vet friendly and professional. Lovely attitude towards animals and their owner.
Fantastic experience: Really lovely staff.
Negative experience: Quite disappointed. Was in there for 20 second he looked at the cat and said it needs stitching it will cost £450-£500 if not then it could die of infection and they charged me £45 took to another vet. They put on some antiseptic and put on a bandage just less that £100 so very disappointed
Fantastic experience: Great staff, understand the problems we have with pets. Easy booking system for appointments
Fantastic experience: Great service nice people
Fantastic experience: Great vets!! easy to make appointment online too. Been back for yearly checkup and service recieved was great again
Fantastic experience: Just wanted to say that the vet Julia has been extremely helpful, efficient and amazing at helping my dog, Mushu, with his complicated health issues. Anytime I call, she springs into action and also hears out my suggestions for medicines. She doesn’t shut me down but instead talks it through or goes and does further research. Maizie and Chloe at reception are always friendly and helpful. They have even consoled me when crying in reception and I am always met with a smile. If any issues have happened they’re quick to deal with them and overall I couldn’t ask for more. Thanks!
Fantastic experience: I own an xl American bully, she was booked in for the 14th of this month, unfortunately she came into season a few days prior.. I was so upset and the lady's at reception was absolutely amazing.. they reassured me willow would be in the best hands, the vet told us in detail the dangers but he told us he would have another vet in the room to help, it went extremely well and has made the most amazing recovery possible, when we walk into the vets straight the way the lady's great willow before us and it makes me smile every single time.. not one of them judge willow, the vets, nurses, and receptionists are AMAZING.. they all truly have the dogs best interest at heart.. even when i was ringing up every hour to see if willow was ok, they all went above and beyond for her.. they kept willow calm and treated us with the up most respect.. best vets EVER.. iv heard horror stories about vets in Leicestershire.. but not kings.. proud to have chosen this vets from when willow was a puppy.. thank you so much to the vets, nurses, receptionists.. I appreciate everything you have done for myself and willow.. x

Positive experience: Been with kings syston for last 3 years. We drive 15 miles to use their service as we like how the vets approach our pets. One star less for 1) Booking us in for vaccination and after us showing up they said it was an error and we will need to come at a later date. 2) No customer toilets.
Fantastic experience: Had a great experience here w8lith my dog on the day off his Op , friendly and welcoming staff
Fantastic experience: I took my 2 fur babies for extensive dental work. Both have recovered well. They both had a post-op check and were healing really well. Reception staff were lovely. The nurse was excellent, and all 3 vets seen were really friendly and gave their time to explain things. Highly recommended. I will move all my pets there now. Happy fur baby Mummy.
Fantastic experience: Really happy with the service here and the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended.
Fantastic experience: Sorted the dog out. Great service
Fantastic experience: Absolutely lovely vets!! Would recommend to anyone! So I have been struggling to get my rats seen as when I went vet4pets vets they didn’t do anything and told us our rats were fine when they clearly wasn’t and charged us £110 for nothing! One of my rats has been having breathing problems and has been making a noise when she breathes and so I googled it and it did come up with being a respiratory illness which sounded exactly the same as she sounded! My other rat has been having so many problems, not using her back legs, losing weight, no energy, and we noticed blood coming from her mouth so I rang chine house but they said they wasn’t taking new clients and recommend kings vets to us and I’m so glad they did! The receptionist called Chloe who I spoke to was lovely and got us seen on the same day within an hour of calling bare in mind when we got there they were busy so was surprised we got seen the same day Lucinda the vet that we seen was also very lovely and professional and even though she wasn’t an exotic specialist, she knew her stuff and straight away was able to tell us that there was something wrong with both rats! Unfortunately we had to put one down due to it just being seriously ill but the vet was very caring and compassionate to us and I can’t thank her enough! She prescribed antibiotics for my other rat for 10 days and told us if we have any problems to give them a call and they would happy to see her again! Considering vets4pets told us nothing was wrong when there really was! Highly recommend this vets!! The price was very reasonable as well! Can’t thank the staff enough and we will be coming back here for our present and future animals

Fantastic experience: I bought my mums cat (Eddie) here a couple of weeks ago as he had a really large lump come up (always the worst timing when you cat sit for people on holiday!!) but Kings were fantastic and squeezed us in quickly. They warned me there might be a wait since it was a last minute appointment but I arrived and they got us in straight away which was great. The vet was so lovely and said that the issue was an abscess and he very quickly whisked him away to drain it before returning him to me in the waiting room. He explained what he’d done and that he also gave him an long-lasting antibiotic which was great because Eddie will not take pills haha! All in all a great experience, all staff were lovely, the waiting room and consultation room were very clean. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Took my Yorkshire Terrier to have her teeth cleaned yesterday and was delighted with the friendliness and professionalism of the staff! I’d been quoted minimum £500 for a scale and polish by my current vet so, being shocked at the price, I told some fellow dog walkers who recommended I rang Kings. I’m pleased to say they did a brilliant job at a cost of £195 (<10kg price). Less than half the price of other vets. Have moved both my dog and cat to the practice now as it’s much better than the one I’ve been using!
Fantastic experience: Staff are always friendly and caring. Reasonable pricing in my experience. My 'go to' vet.

Fantastic experience: Our first visit to their new practice. Covid regs meant we all had to wait in the car park until the vet came to collect our dogs and then bring them back to us and the lovely Jen brought the card machine outside so we could pay.
