Leicester PDSA Pet Hospital: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing staff. Work so hard..
Negative experience: Disgusting, took my cat in for the reception to say “ sometimes it’s normal for their eyes to do that “ no it’s not, not that colour tear dropping from eye , just one singular eye aswell. They just looked at this specific photo and shrugged it off, I took my cat in who is by the way terrified of being in a cat carrier was meowing his poor heart out, just to not even get checked with eye infections anything can happen within a few days, you can’t save it once it’s to late. To think my cat could be in pain right now with every blink and you guys didn’t even bother to have a look, not doing anything about it is one thing but not even looking and just saying what you think through a photo? Absolutely shocking buisness ashamed that you guys are local. Total bad experience, not to mention my cat isn’t fond with me now and it wasn’t even worth it. I get it won’t last forever him being like this with me but that ain’t the point he isn’t gonna trust me properly for a while
Fantastic experience: Amazed at the Detailed in depth examination that was given to my boy Prince. What a great place, I have just moved into the area so chuffed to bits to know both my boys will be getting the best Vet care we could wish for. Jan 26th 2026 Updated I couldn't get back in after Covid but now 2026 I have re-registered, I lost my 1st boy Prince 6 yrs ago after great care and attention from Pdsa Vets. My big boy Cash i lost to bone cancer on 31/07/25 I have a Cav rescue Bella, just had a thorough check up from pdsa and now booked for dental treatment, Vet was very informative about Bella's treatments and on-going health issues. I have medication for her, and we are thrilled to be back to a great team of dedicated Vets.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly and understanding. Couldn't ask for better people.
Negative experience: Feedback for PDSA: I attended PDSA with my 20-year-old cat and was instructed to sedate him at home specifically so blood tests could be taken. Once at the clinic, no blood tests were performed. Instead, a possible diagnosis was made based solely on visual assessment and a urine sample. Despite my cat being alert, eating well, and active, euthanasia was suggested without confirmed diagnostics. This was extremely distressing and inappropriate. In addition, one injection was incorrectly administered into his fur. I am deeply concerned about the clinical judgment and handling during this visit and hope PDSA urgently reviews its diagnostic standards and decision-making processes, particularly for senior animals.
Fantastic experience: Great with the animals and there owners
Negative experience: i dont even want to give this vile facility one star but in order share my experiences it will have to be. In june of this year (2025) i took my beloved cat bynx in as she started to become withdrawn out of nowhere, they claimed she was too aggressive to be able to take her blood so i paid for her to be sedated so they could take blood. the results came back clear but they didn’t offer me any sort of explanation as to why her behaviour was off. a few days later she developed significant swelling on her whole face and a big lump on the back of her head. i knew it wasn’t looking good for her but continued to take her to get to the bottom of it. they needed to sedate her once again to do a biopsy on the lump at the back of her head/neck but all the staff didnt know what it was and told me to go private and pay up to £1500 to have a CT scan. the final time i took my baby girl in, the vet i spoke to had no empathy and compassion whatsoever and suggested euthanasia straight away. they were rushing me to say goodbye and wanted to get it over and done with. they were cruel and cold when handing me her carrier back and was pestering me for donations. This passing sunday i lost another fur baby, my 16 week old kitten was taken in a last month for symptoms of cat flu, they prescribed us antibiotics but they dont treat anything viral and told us it wouldnt be worth doing more tests to see if its cat flu as it would “not be worth their limited resources” me and my partner had to watch our girl Callie deteriorate as these antibiotics did absolutely nothing to help. we had to take her back this past sunday as her condition became so bad she had a fall due to constant fatigue and degloved her bottom lip from her chin. the vets said once again its not worth their resources doing the surgery as she looks like a kitten that would not thrive in life and should probably have to be euthanised. i had the exact same experience with putting my cat to sleep, they were rushing us, cold, heartless and very disrespectful. constantly pestering us for donations as they “are not a charity” all the vets are young clueless women who look like they have just got out of college and doing an apprenticeship. the complete lack of empathy is disgraceful and they DO NOT LISTEN. the way they see it, if ur on low income already you shouldnt have a pet. this place needs serious new management and inspection.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Very good communication and easy to contact with. Highly recommending

Negative experience: Very bad experience and explanation from one of the staff just now at 17 45 , 07.11.25 she didnt wait me to finish she just hung up the phone like she was fed up
Negative experience: We had to get my dog put down with a private vet because pdsa were just fobbing us off with more medication each time which did nothing and only made him worse the days before he got put down the pdsa gave him a needle in his back legs which basicallu paralysed him he couldn’t walk a few steps without support and dropped to the floor we went to the pdsa numerous times and they never found out what was wrong we went to a private vet they told us immediately that he had fluid in his body and they couldn’t even hear his heartbeat Cause of it the pdsa did absolutely nothing and my dog had to be put down cause of their vets. Do better.
Fantastic experience: My dog had teeth out (9) Made easy by wonderful care For ever grateful Anna and pixie Mee
Fantastic experience: Consistently been with these guys my whole life, always helpful, always sweet, always put in that extra care.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic place and Clinical staff showed a general willingness to act in our cats best interest.
Negative experience: Their care is good but trying to get it needs working on,31 mins on hold Still, nobody answered Getting an appointment at the doctor's is quicker and that's bad enough
Fantastic experience: Excellent. Friendly staff. I'm very grateful to have the affordable services available.
Fantastic experience: They help you so much they are such a great service and deserve so much help please guys
Fantastic experience: What a great service and lovely person who care.
Fantastic experience: I’ve been to the PDSA in Leicester on a few occasions and I just wanted to say how lovely the staff are. They are all under considerable pressure but they are so friendly. A mention for the reception ladies - I don’t know how you manage the reception and phone calls but you do a brilliant job! I don’t know what I would do without this service ❤️
Fantastic experience: Brilliant bet, excellent service highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: So lucky to have a charity with such caring staff
Fantastic experience: Excellent we would never have arrived without this service
Negative experience: Took my poorly 16year old cat in on the 22nd April the lady was very stern and not helpful handling my fur baby like he was a rag doll, sadly we had to say goodbye
Fantastic experience: Bella had a c section and looked after her well would recommend
Fantastic experience: Great always explain everything well and want the best for the animals

Fantastic experience: Lovely staff, sad ending for my 20 year old Ginger but they were so good spent loads of time with me and Ginger
Fantastic experience: Amazing in an emergency, heartbreaking situation. The vet was so calm and understanding and we couldn't have asked for more
Fantastic experience: Had to have my 18 girl put to sleep from complications of a cyst and the staff where absolutely brilliant and compassionate thank you
Fantastic experience: Such caring staff. I had to say goodbye to my Parker. They really helped me through this sad time.
Fantastic experience: Apart from ignorant dog owners, who all seems to think that their dog is the most well behaved in the whole world ( easy to see where the brat children get the attitude from)was a pleasant experience, if you can ever call going to a vets that, staff helpful, vets helpful, treatment of my pet excellent.
Fantastic experience: Excellent .tryd rspca all charitys etc only help was pdsa
Fantastic experience: Brilliant team working there would highly recommend
Positive experience: Kind and friendly staff.. and they took great care of my dog
Fantastic experience: My carer and I took our cat to the PDSA in summer last year as someone kicked him ! He has Arthritis due to this and has to have pain relief daily. My Carer administers this on days when he limps cannot walk due the pain of Arthritis. Without the PDSA Veterinary Service, his life would be unbearable. We can not afford to take him to a private vet, and we are truly grateful for the PDSA . They only ask for a donation. We put any change away and give this as a donation. No matter how little it all adds up. Again, "Thank you to all the Vets, who Work Tirelessly to Provide First Class Service to any Animals who Need It. If possible, please give a donation. Without the PDSA, what would happen to (ALL) OF OUR ANIMAL'S).We recommend the PDSA 100%. "Thank Ÿou". ⬛ xx
Fantastic experience: Friendly helpful staff, good service got our pet frenchie the next day.
Fantastic experience: Very helpful, polite and caring. Gave great advice too. Don't know how reception stay so calm with some very rude clients though!!
Fantastic experience: The PDSA have saved my 10 year old Labrador twice, they provided very caring and a sufficient service with understanding. I'm very grateful for their services and my Labrador wouldn't be alive today without their help and support.
Fantastic experience: Best care you can ask for amazing staff just so greatful they were there for me and my dog
Fantastic experience: Staff were lovely, polite and very professional, the care they provided was second to none xx
Positive experience: Okay, Dog needs a health check and proper Diagnosis, of his cough . The vet excepted ,what the owner ,said -a kennel cough . Although the owner ,has no idea about kennel cough , symptoms, him and the dog ,have lived on the streets ,since ,April ,this year, there could be a growth , etc . Pathetic ,would steroids get rid of a growth, NO,exactly .
Negative experience: Took my 15 week old kitten brutus to them as he was having seizures, I explained then I think it's neurological due to how he was fitting. They took his blood and said we couldn't tell if its a shunt so they needed a rapid test. They said they would call, so when they called and after trying to get me to put him down and me refusing they did another test the next day. I was told the test takes 2 days to he told when I called 2days later I was told rudely i would be getting a call 7 days later from the original day the 2nd test was taken. Which is Today the 12th of November 2024, they were like good news we can treat him it's not a shunt which i previously told them. For me to tell them let me stop you, my kitten died yesterday at 7:29pm in my other halfs arms we had to watch helplessly as he died because you wouldn't listen to me. You are cruel and what you did was unjustified... I would avoid this hospital, they broke our hearts and the negligence is unforgivable. I hate you did that to us.
Fantastic experience: Great place to get help with your pets i always take my pets here to get looked at
Fantastic experience: Took my dog here today and the vet was super. Very understanding and informative, fully explained what treatment could be required and what was required immediately. Cannot fault the staff here all very friendly and supportive of your needs as an owner and of your pet. No hard sell for donations, when you are able to pay towards your pets treatment, it is always received with a smile and a thank you.
Negative experience: Had my dog put to sleep and wasn’t given any information on how to get her after or even ashes. Tried to call manager and never got called back.
Fantastic experience: The staff are always very friendly & helpful. The vets go above & beyond to help you understand & make you make the right decisions for your pets.
Fantastic experience: Although my last pet died, I was looked after, and so was she. Today I rang got information and whoever the lady was really helpful, and explained things very simply for my 3 me cats. Although there is a cost my budget as at moment on pip for to ill health she made me feel at ease, and now the cats are old enough for chipping smriti as I keep saying sniping ant chipping, although their busy she took time to take care of my concerns. I often for years even through putney persons banks before sk the me ways of donations including nor the debit card a blessing for those without credit cards to be able to donate myself even dl use others when my intent fails I can transfer the money and they donate on my behalf. I urge people working or on benefits to donate when they can as many people need their lottery service if your a pet lover a pound is helpful. It's a charity often missed with all the charities for around the world, the vast they give to people even over the phone. I think it's a million times better than ordinary private bet practices. You might think those on hooding benefits shouldn't need the help but it's for all including disabilities who need their pets whether it's guide dogs to those who need a pet or something in their lives to keep them going. Their the unsung heroes for pretty care in the UK and a charity for this country . Like I said, even one pound is helpful. As I said from the last pet for died my dog way before willow they got hey back on her feet and personally as said they're have been better than private practices I've dealt with in the past. Again the advice even in the evening when putney pets services are closed they will answer the phone but really need help with donations I su moment at times give a spare pound or two but this year the help I've received given more how I was looked after as well as my poor cart who died early this year. Im not religious, but good bless the PDSA for being their in times of trouble, the pain of losing my beloved willow. So please donate if you can Judy go online or pop into your local PDSA and give what you can, to help those in need si9please be hero for the uk's special charity even the RSPDA be their for others and your self's. This is not a worker from the PDSA, but an honest was working but not now able due as mentioned ill health. I know we're all struggling with price and inflation going on. Just a little helps. Specially more do now debit cards are available to use. Unlike when my dog lady was ill, I had others use their credit cards for me. I will stop here, or I will talk forever about the heat service. Even if you're not qualified for free or low treatment, they're there for all our lived pets around the UK. Thanks for reading my long-winded post on the PDSA, and how helpful they have been to me and my old cat and dog, and now my 3 new kittens, almost full-grown cats.
Fantastic experience: So so lovely, the receptionists are lovely, the vets are lovely, everyone is lovely!. My dog came in it was his first time having a health issue in 12 years so i wasn't sure what to expect. Helpful from the off and the price is so so reasonable in every way. The love of animals is clear absolutely no one in the building is in it for any other reason than to help animals.
Fantastic experience: Staff and vets are super friendly and really helpful. Can't thank them enough
Negative experience: My dog has been ill he's not eaten anything for a week has not drank any water. For a day told told them this and they said they won't help me because they are don't do any new ones I can afford any other vet's I am on benefits
Fantastic experience: Excellent place for pets , great staff , saved my little pooch sweepy
Positive experience: Dedicated very busy but helpful staff. Welcoming and clean environment for pets and humans alike. Difficult to get to talk to as always really busy. Best teams, best environment and really helpful
Fantastic experience: We were there during a very sad time with my daughters cat. Everyone was so caring and lovely.
Fantastic experience: Lovely and friendly they go all out looking after my cats
Fantastic experience: Friendly and professional staff for my 9 year old pup, helped us with end of life care, due to CHF. It was a heartbreaking day but the staff were understanding and Sunny was comfortable and unafraid in the end. The connected funeral care gave us his ashes back a week later. We had a private cremation for my little boy and to have a beech casket was just about £130 on low cost. The euthanasia amounted to around £30 we got a sand paw print which is a material similar to what Florists arrange flowers in. Unfortunately an error happened and we didn't receive any ink prints as we'd requested, but we understand that accidents happen. All in all a relief in our time of desperation
Fantastic experience: Excellent service. looked after my dog Loki
Positive experience: Unfortunately we had to take our pet Cat to be seen at the PDSA as he has a big lump on his throat. The Staff there were very professional and caring, they were very informative and sympathetic ( we may have to put our Cat down if not any better in two weeks ). There is plenty of parking and Disabled access, there is also public toilets. The PDSA are a great organisation that helps people who may struggle with Vet bills with the cost of living crisis.
Fantastic experience: We had best medication review spoke to nicest most pleasant staff perfect
Negative experience: Absolutely disgusted with how this vet have treated my cat. Been brought in two or three times in the space of 4 weeks because my cat wasn’t able to use one of his back legs. Was given antibiotics everytime and then had to be brought in again as he still wasn’t using his leg. This time was offered antibiotics again , and i simply refused and demanded further investigation. After keeping him in for two days on “IV antibiotics” and fluids , finally had a scan and his leg was severely broken and infected and the infection was making the bone worse and he ended up needing a whole leg amputation. After his leg being amputated was sent home the same day with no pain relief ??? Will be reporting to BVA and not staying quiet.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, very helpful and kind to our poorly Emily cat.
Fantastic experience: We sadly had to put our dog to sleep here as he was so poorly end of life. The staff were absolutely amazing and I can't thank them enough for how caring they were not only to our dog but also to us. Thankyou so much. Keep up the amazing work you do. ❤️
Fantastic experience: Had a concern for my dog got an amergency appointment the vet thoroughly checked over my dog and provided the medication she needs for now explained very clearly the outcomes of whats ahead very happy and grateful for all there help
Fantastic experience: Lovely and polite staff, always provide the best care for animals
Fantastic experience: They treat thousands of pets every day, providing the help, care and treatment they desperately need.
Fantastic experience: Very helpful staff, took only 40min to do the check on my dog! They know what to do and how to,amazing approach and explanation etc definitely 10/5!!!
Fantastic experience: Brilliant service every one has a smile very pleasant time, Annabelle very comfortable thank you Mr Cooper
Fantastic experience: we felt very confident leaving our aged cat here to have teeth removed . This is a scary worrying procedure considering the age of our cat . The reception staff were so helpful , knowledgeable and so friendly which put our minds at rest . Even though this is an expensive procedure, it is a lot cheaper than private vets, and when you are a pensioner on limited income, it certainly helps . Thank you, and rest assured your pet is in good hands x
Fantastic experience: After spending nearly £300 at a private practise, they then told me my cat needed an operation at £1000. I simply couldn't afford it, so I had to turn to the PDSA. They proceeded with the operation at a lower cost due to my cat being a low-cost animal. They operated and looked after my cat, no complaints. They kept the cost clear and transparent. She is due a check-up today after her operation. Thank you, PDSA.
Negative experience: Very sad to receive news my gentle Jake could have cancer. The surgery rooms are so noisy, overwhelmed by the diagnosis. Told to go another vet for a complete diagnosis. Just not provided with enough information, is he in pain? What's ideal considering his age. The first visit started with a breathing problem, returning home to find a sudden enlarged mass. I am confused by the total lack of any information for care. Rereading the PDSA only administrate emergency treatment ( which is fantastic), interested in neutering animals and worming and flea treatments.
Fantastic experience: Live the PDSA and all the work they do with animals. It's a shame they are not taking on any more just yet. The lady on the phone says there is lack of vets. I hope this changes soon. Keep doing what you're doing, you do amazing work.
Fantastic experience: Great charity caring for pets! There is always a bit of a wait when visiting as they are so so busy! But animals are cared for Easy access to the building and some parking, but can park on surround roads if needs be
Fantastic experience: My cat Gremlin was put to sleep today.I was really heartbroken, but would would like to say how kind & understanding all the staff were that I saw.they were very patient & compassionate, the 2 vets were lovely also the lady who was by my side during the procedure & the receptionist. Thankyou all so much. You were all very kind at this very sad time.
Fantastic experience: This past weekend I have had to take my little elderly cat bubbles to see the Vets. On Saturday afternoon the vet and Nurse were lovely. Bubbles was nearly 18 and had become poorly quite suddenly and very unlike her. Both the vet and the nurse were caring and compassionate. I was able to take my girl home however sadly she didn't improve overnight so I took her back this afternoon.14.01.24 It was so lovely to see the vet again who treated my bubble's ear problem 4 years ago. Just as 4 years ago a lovely lady who obviously cares about the animals. Also very professional and understanding. Sadly bubbles was just too tired and it was agreed she needed to be put to sleep. Her grand old age caught up with her. I'd have given anything to have her with me for a few more years but to reach nearly 18 she did really well. It's just so heartbreaking. I want to thank the two lovely vets the one on sat afternoon and the vet this afternoon. I'm so sorry I can't remember your names.Thank you to the lovely nurses who I spoke to on the phone and face to face.your absolute stars and very patient. Thank you also for allowing me the opportunity to purchase the paw print box.withs bub's paw print, I'll treasure this. Michelle xx
Fantastic experience: hi I took my German shepherd dog to pdsa who was very constipated and realy struggling to poo the vet looked at him examined him and decided he needed to be put on general anacetic to find out wot was wrong with him as he had a blockage I was scared but he needed doing she took me through everything they were gonna do with him step by step and he is OK now I'm so glad I took him pdsa very nice vets and understanding problem with my dog if they wernt there I would not no wot to do they are brilliant at treating my dogvhe came back with medication I have to give him daily I'm so glad I went pdsa they are amazing people
Positive experience: The veterinary clinic is good. Super friendly staff. Helped my kitten twice. The only thing is that when you go into the building, it stinks animal urine. Because of that, it's difficult to sit in the waiting area.
Fantastic experience: Can not thank the Pdsa enough for looking after my dog flip .. it was out of hours and just before Xmas and they managed to see my poorly dog made sure she was all right gave her the checkover and some antibiotics and she was good to go !! Thanks again
Fantastic experience: Awesome PDSA .. Godbless all the vet's who work here at Heyford Rd, please donate as much as you can to this extremely important animal veterinary dispensery please ..

Fantastic experience: Had to have my beloved cat star put to sleep And the vet that seen us out of hours Was fantastic and caring Couldn’t asked for better caring staff
Fantastic experience: These people are genuinely untold hero's and do not get tge recognition or praise they truly deserve they saved our jynx he was very very poorly the vet was concerned he didn't look good and hadn't eaten in 48 had stopped drinking to me he looked like he had a stroke to me n the vet informed us brain infection they saved his life he has 360 and is back to his 99 percent amazing people and can't praise these guys they've helped me lots of time whilst being registered and they've always done the right thing for my animals with the best advice I hope you all have a wonderful day you've made my year!
Fantastic experience: Great . The reception and vets are amazing they try to keep the pet occupied and stable and help in what ever way they can .
Fantastic experience: We had our dog George put to sleep due to suspected cancer the staff did their utmost making our dog comfortable as we said goodbye.Thank you to all the staff.
Fantastic experience: Unfortunately I had to say my final goodbye to my soulmate, my beautiful dog lolly. The staff were so understanding, as I wasn't expecting this outcome at all. They went out of their way to make our final minutes together were special & private. They do outstanding work, without their services. I wouldn't of been able to afford vet's fee's, of several hundreds of pounds. I thank them from the bottom of my heart, for the excellent work they did for me and lolly. And also the work they continue to do everyday. Godbless you
Fantastic experience: PDSA Leicester Pet Hospital - They Are Really Caring And Truly Professional In Their Job - They Get No Funding From The Government - Money From People Who Can't Afford Full Vet Bill's Or PDSA Left Money By Family Bereavement, And By Donations Given To Keep PDSA Going - From The Reception Staff, To Animal Nurse's To The Vet's - They Are Absolutely Amazing And Truly Fantastic And Truly Need To Be Recognised For Their Dedication And Their Commitment And Their Hard Work Given And Time Given To Help And Improve Animal's And Their High Standard Of Care
Fantastic experience: Blessed to have my pets registered here, the staff are truly amazing and do the best they can especially when you have to let a pet pass away.
Negative experience: Couldn't get through and advise on line is that no help us available. No help to those not on benefits. Even though we don't even own the cat, he sleeps outside and is fed by 2 or 3 other neighbours. Very upset as the cat is bleeding and has difficulty breathing and eating. Why is there no help available. I have a family and I am really struggling as have already paid out for 2 lots of antibiotics costing over £300. Really unfair system.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic people. Wonderful, super professional care, hospital of the highest quality. Thank you very much for taking care of our Hana. I highly recommend
Fantastic experience: The staff here are superb, nurturing, kind, caring. The greatest kind of people you want looking after you beloved animals. They saved my dogs life, I'm eternally grateful. Please if you can donate even if you don't use this hospital yourselves, do it for the animals so the support and care can continue. If we all help a little it will accumulate to alot
Fantastic experience: Excellent service even with a nationwide shortage of vets. They are, however, not taking new referrals due to having staffing shortages. You still receive excellent care for your pets.
Positive experience: Really Good if you actually get an appointment, but sadly wen it's a phone consultation I missed 2 and they don't call back so no results nothing abit disappointing cos my dog is not himself and I had no results for his urine tes
Fantastic experience: This Place & These People Are So Amazing, Have Been So Caring And Enpathetic To My Situation & Was Able To Help My Furbaby More Than I Could Ever Of Imagined. They Are A Godsend And Will Call You Every Morning A Let You Know How Your Furbaby Is. Thank You PDSA Reception, Vets And Students For Looking After My Kitty I Am Forever In Your Debt.
Fantastic experience: Very helpful and compassionate staff. Despite there being a shortage of vets and there being only one vet at the premises that day, they managed to fit my pet in for an emergency. Treated my pet with tenderness and care.
Fantastic experience: The vets and the vets nurse’s try really hard here, they made mine and my kittens visit to PDSA as pleasant as they could, lovely staff, I can’t wait until I raise my fundraiser for them as they do so well❤️ Milo and Willow
