Our comment from InfoVet about Vets Now Belfast:
Vets Now Belfast is a well-established emergency veterinary practice that provides critical care during out-of-hours situations. Customers have consistently highlighted the compassionate and knowledgeable staff who offer excellent treatment for pets. Many clients report feeling reassured by the team's ability to handle stressful situations with care and professionalism.
While the quality of care is widely praised, clients have noted that the cost of services can be quite high, especially during emergency visits. Many users have expressed concerns about the transparency of pricing and the perceived justification for charges, leading to discussions on the affordability of veterinary care during urgent times.
Noteworthy positive experiences include:
- The prompt and attentive service, with minimal wait times during emergencies.
- Thorough explanations of treatment options and clear communication about costs involved.
- A calming atmosphere that helps soothe worried pet owners during distressing situations.
On the other hand, feedback has indicated areas for improvement, such as:
- Addressing concerns regarding the high cost of consultations and treatments.
- Providing greater clarity around insurance processes and payment structures.
In summary, while clients appreciate the dedicated care and commitment demonstrated by the Vets Now team, there's a significant emphasis on the need for greater price transparency and patient reassurance regarding costs. Nevertheless, Vets Now Belfast remains a recommended choice for urgent veterinary care when needed.

Vets Now Belfast: Reviews
Negative experience: Really sad and disappointing overall. On arrival to the vets there were multiple staff, some complaining about their lack of breaks and discussing workplace politics in the waiting room. I found this a little unprofessional, as we were quite upset about our sick cat. The vet we seen was absolutely lovely. We were unsure about our cat's health as he was vomiting. Of course he rallied on the visit and seemed fine to the vet. However we were told he was fine which cost us £350 for consult alone. Unfortunately he had to be put to sleep the next day at a different vets as he ingested a toxin, and wasn't actually well at all. I understand that this would have been difficult for a professional to assess as cats mask so much. However it's a difficult pill to swallow when the cat needed to be euthanised less than 24 hours later.

Fantastic experience: Staff were so lovely and treated my pet and me with care
Negative experience: Rang for advice as my cat went into labour, last time went horrible and I just wanted to be better prepared as I've had a rough day and just wanted my baby and her babies to be okay. Safe to say I wouldn't ring again Google be a better help
Positive experience: Care at Vets Now is excellent and staff are lovely but prices are extortionate. Don't know how the costs are justified just because it's out of hours.
Negative experience: The vet who dealt with our dog was great but this was an eye-wateringly and egregiously expensive experience. £1300 for a painkiller, ultrasound, bloods and checkup after it dog was hit by a car? . Oh, annd a chunk of the bill was for an ‘overnight stay’ in a metal cage for literally a few hours: 1am-730am. If we did not have insurance we simply could not have paid. Perhaps some price-gouging shower of sharks has taken over this vets in a corporate grab, but nothing in the world can justify these prices.
Hi Mark, I know it can be frustrating having to pay for an unplanned trip to the vets. Much like it is for other out-of-hours services in other industries, It's more expensive to run an out-of-hours pet emergency service than a general daytime practice. We've broken down where our costs go here if you'd like to find out more: https://bit.ly/2ybF2sc.
If you’d like to query your bill or speak to us about anything we’re here for you on [email protected].
Fantastic experience: We recently had a stressful moment with our dog and the team were incredibly kind, helpful and made us feel at ease.
Negative experience: Went to urgent care with my dog as she was passing blood and was extremely unwell, vet advised me she was safe to travel and to take her to her own vet as I would get more “bang for my buck”. My dog of 4 years old died on transport quite tragically in the arms of my 13 year old son. Would not recommend at all ! No follow up no nothing just a few of £304 for looking at her.
Hi Karen, we're so sorry for your loss. We would like to look into this for you, so please email [email protected] with the Vets Now clinic you attended and your details, and we can assist further.
Positive experience: My dog's condition is ongoing but during our visit they offered anti-sickness and painkilling injections which allowed him to relax and sleep most of the following day. A visit to my own vet on monday 26th January is continuing his treatment for an infection
Positive experience: A great facility to avail of when you’re worried about your pet! I’m just glad I have good insurance policy as it’s a little pricey!
Fantastic experience: My dog took sick late at night and we were told to go straight up to be seen. The vet was friendly and informative, give us all the options. My dog was treated with kindness and has recovered well. Very reassuring and friendly team.
Hi Donna, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service and that your dog is recovering well
Negative experience: Had to use this vets two days before Christmas for a bladder infection. Didn't expect the £770 bill for a blood test and some painkillers and antibiotics, £300 odd just to get in the door how £400 odd was added on top of this just for a bladder infection and the worst part was they only gave me a two day dose which meant the infection came back an I had to pay more money for more antibiotics at my normal vets!! Will not use again unless my dog is on deaths door!

Fantastic experience: Great service and staff are all very friendly!!
Fantastic experience: Vets Now answered my call promptly and dealt efficiently with my request. The instructions and directions to the vet surgery were clear, and the reception staff greeted me by name. It was a relief to be able to have our old dog seen so quickly.
Hi Joseph, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service.
Negative experience: We attended recently for out of hours care with our puppy. We were pretty disappointed with the service. The receptionist (purple long hair) didn’t even greet us, make eye contact or any kind of niceties on arrival. We waited in the waiting area and a woman came out, we don’t know if she was a nurse or a vet as again she never greeted us or told us what her name was. She just asked if someone had seen us yet and then she was the one who done the consult. The consult was fine, the advice was sound but we just felt a lack of professionalism, warmth and care. At the very end a young woman brought our puppy out to us and she was the total opposite of our first two experiences: smiling, warm and seemed like an animal lover. We didn’t have insurance so we were paying full price, which is fine if the care / people are worth it, but with the exception of the last lady we would never return here for the reasons given. I would pay the price tenfold for someone like the last lady we dealt with or another emergency service with better staff.
Hi Emer, we appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback. Would you like to discuss this case further with a member of our team? If so, please email us on [email protected], indicating which clinic you attended, your pet’s name and the first line of your home address, postcode and highlighting your concerns.
Positive experience: Reception staff and vets excellent. Very expensive as out of hours. Initial screening call was excruciatingly slow. My dogs had ingested something potentially toxic so I had a window of time to get treatment Had my dog sustained a serious injury that was imminently life threatening the excessive questions not relevant to the situation could have a dramatic influence on the outcome.
Hi Claire. Thanks for your review. If you would like to discuss this further, please email us on [email protected] indicating which clinic you attended, your pets name and the first line of your home address highlighting your concerns.
Fantastic experience: My dog had an issue on the 28/12 Sunday, they were open and took my dog straight in with only a few minutes wait. Very quick and to the point diagnosis and treatment. Really brilliant and very friendly. My wee doggy is all happy as well
Hi Conor, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service.
Fantastic experience: We had to visit Earlswood on Boxing night as an emergency. Our puppy was very sick. The staff were fantastic and we were very happy with the care Rosie received. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Well I needed help with my wee puppy as my own vet was closed! The staff were lovely and very friendly!! Now I didn’t go any further with anything todo with my puppy as the price to get him sorted was unbelievable over the top! But other than that
Negative experience: Although I was told on the phone the cost would be £302 for the vet to see my rabbit and this could be paid via klarna installments I was advised after my rabbit was seen this would not be the case it had to paid in full. Two days after Christmas as you can imagine this was hard to do.
Positive experience: Quite a long wait, which is perhaps understandable, as we attended on Boxing Day, in an emergency. However vet was very attentive, asking us a lot of questions to inform her diagnosis. She was very clear in her explanation, and polite and friendly throughout. Would definitely recommend.
Hi Donald, thanks so much for your positive feedback. We really appreciate it. It’s a pleasure to have helped you and your pet. Have a great day.
Positive experience: Emergency visit on Christmas day. Staff were really good with my two year old dog as she had gotten into a box of chocolates. I'm very thankful for her treatment and she is now fully recovered. The only reason I'm given 3 stars is due to the cost. £302 initial fee to be seen and a total of £415 for an injection to make her sick. I know it's an emergency service but prices are extortionate.
Hi Judith, thanks for your feedback on the cost of our service. As you may be aware, it’s a lot more expensive to run an after-hours emergency vet service. The greater running costs we incur are reflected in our prices. If you’d like to read more about our running costs, prices and where our profits go, please visit: https://www.vets-now.com/2018/01/emergency-vet-costs-prices-fees/
Fantastic experience: Outstanding emergency care and compassion when we needed it most! We had to rush our dog, Amara, to Vets Now at Earlswood Clinic on Belmont Road on Sunday 21 December after she ate fudge containing cranberries and sultanas, which are highly toxic to dogs. It was a frightening situation for us, but from the moment we arrived, the team were calm, kind, and incredibly reassuring. The vets and nurses took the time to explain exactly what was happening and what the next steps would be, keeping us fully updated throughout. Their clear communication and genuine compassion helped put us at ease during what was a very stressful time. It was obvious that Amara was not just being treated medically, but was being cared for with real kindness and attention. We were so grateful for how thoughtfully Amara was looked after while she was there, and for the way the team handled all of the pet insurance paperwork for us, which took a huge weight off our shoulders. Every member of staff we dealt with was professional, approachable, and supportive. We cannot thank Vets Now at Earlswood Clinic, Belmont Road enough for the care they gave Amara. Knowing she was in such safe hands meant everything to us. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who finds themselves needing out-of-hours emergency veterinary care.
Hi Lucy, thanks so much for your positive feedback. We really appreciate it. It’s a pleasure to have helped you and Amara. Have a great Christmas
Negative experience: We were seen very promptly at a most upsetting time. However we were disappointed that we were given the impression our wee dog was on her way out, and home euthanasia was even mentioned to us. We left the surgery with little hope our dog would survive. Much to our surprise 12hrs later she was up and about, eating drinking and wagging her tail. Her sight and hearing having returned. Delighted as we are,I feel we could have been given a better idea of what her chances were in the circumstances.
Hi Jim, thanks for your feedback. If you’d like to discuss any aspect of your visit further, please don’t hesitate to contact [email protected], indicating which clinic you attended, your pet’s name and the first line of your home address, postcode and highlighting your concerns.
Fantastic experience: Lovely people, very helpful and a calming atmosphere in the clinic. The vet who treated Echo also had a calming attitude toward me and very gentle with Echo. I knew I had made the right decision to take Echo. Oh! And not as expensive as I thought. Thankyou to everyone .
Hi Rosemary, we very much appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service.
Fantastic experience: All the staff were so helpful when our dog was having seizures and she got such good care when she was there. Thankfully she is now home and recovering due to the help of the vets who took care of her. The staff here made a really difficult situation a little bit easier as we knew our dog was in the best place to help her get better.
Hi Ruby, thanks so much for your positive feedback. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare, so we're glad we were able to help.
Negative experience: Initial contact with the vet was positive & I was advised to bring my dog to the premises for evaluation. Following a 45 minute car journey, my dog was triaged upon arrival whereupon I was informed that my dog would be seen by a vet within 20-30 minutes. After waiting over an hour (with no interaction from the receptionists) my dog was examined by a vet (who was very nice, by the way) I have no complaints regarding the above as I appreciate the premises were busy, however to charge in excess of £300 for the appointment is an absolute disgrace. No wonder the country is up in arms regarding veterinary fees. My sister-in-law had a similar experience recently which cost her £75 albeit with a different vet. I would love someone to explain the difference to the service she received (which included a prescription) & my own (which did not)
Hi Brian, we appreciate your feedback about the cost of our service. Generally, it’s a lot more expensive to run an out-of-hours clinic and our costs tend to reflect this. For a thorough breakdown of where our fees and profits go, you can visit: https://www.vets-now.com/2018/01/emergency-vet-costs-prices-fees/
Fantastic experience: Tender loving care from molly went in till leaving them
Fantastic experience: We recently had to say goodbye to our beloved boy and the vet and receptionist were both so lovely. The whole process was calm and gentle, and we really appreciated how kind and caring everyone was. The only thing we’d suggest, not just for this practice but for vets in general, would be to have a quiet room where you can spend a bit of time with your pet afterwards. We felt quite rushed once it was over, which made it even harder. We completely understand it’s because the waiting room was busy and the vets needed to see other patients, but having a space to properly say goodbye would mean a lot.
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to let us know how we did. I’m glad our team were a comfort to you at a very difficult time. If you’d like to discuss any aspect of your visit further, please don’t hesitate to contact [email protected], indicating which clinic you attended, your pet’s name, the first line of your home address and your reason for getting in touch. Take care.
Fantastic experience: Honestly can't praise the staff on duty Thursday night enough. they where fantastic with our big fella. sad ending but done with care and dignity many thanks Brian Kim Gibson❤️ BROCK
Positive experience: They catered for the immediate problem but I would have hoped that the would have put in on a drip considering how much fluids he had lost. As it stands I have had to bring to my usual vet twice and at the moment undergoing a scan, a drip and possibly surgery. I understand there is a limit to what they can do as an emergency but it wasn't enough.
Fantastic experience: Vets now were extremely helpful and my injured dogs were seen to as soon as we had arrived. My experience with vets now was excellent and they were very compassionate and the care my dogs had was fantastic. I highly recommend Vets now if you have an injured or sick pet. I am truly grateful for their help and assistance. A*****
Hi Paula, thank you for your great review, I'll make sure we share this with the team in Vets Now Belfast.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic practice, staff very friendly from start to finish. Our pet was treated with the utmost care and attention.Building was immaculately spotless.Very well done Earlswood Veterinary, you are an absolute credit to your profession ❤️
Fantastic experience: I had to rush my dog to the vets now out of hours service due a very long bad seizure, Matthew at the front desk couldn’t have been any better, calmed me and my partner down straight away and offered us water, coffee etc. The vet we got was Caroline and she was absolutely fab! Explained everything to us in detail and let us know what options we had to help my dog. After a few hours we were able to go home with my baby and if it wasn’t for vets now don’t want to think what would have happened. Forever grateful for the fab team.
Positive experience: Had to wait over an hour to see a vet. This was on top of the 10 minute wait to get into the building. It's too long to wait with a sick animal. Although once called in the vet was very thorough and was able to treat my cat very quickly.
Fantastic experience: All of the staff here were amazing! Very experienced, gave me so much of their time and provided me with regular updates.
Fantastic experience: Excellent service and extremely caring and lovely to talk to the vet took her time with my dog and give her a really good check over. I would definitely recommend this service for our pets and thank you all
Fantastic experience: I have used Vets now three times now. The staff are fantastic and I cannot fault them at all. Is it frustrating that no vets in my area provide their own emergency service now? Yes extremely, Vets Now is a 50 minute drive away. Is it costly? Also yes, but the costs are outlined to you before they proceed and I have insurance as we should all have. My only complaint is the effort it takes to get the deposit back once insurance has paid them. I had to ring a few times before I was able to get through to someone to initiate the refund. Overall as long as my animals get the best care I couldn’t care less about the price.
Fantastic experience: Extremely clean and tidy surgery with professional caring staff. Everything was explained even how to get there. Very supportive and kind
Fantastic experience: My dog received excellent care here. The staff were extremely friendly and reassuring, and nothing was ever too much trouble. They made a difficult time much easier, and I felt my dog was in safe hands throughout. I would highly recommend them.
Positive experience: Good service but difficult to believe the out of hours fee needs to be more than three time a standard consultation fee!
Fantastic experience: Jane was fantastic with Harley, ran some tests and gave her medications to help her to get better, she was very reassuring and professional and even rang me in Portugal to let me know how she was and what treatment she was recieving and really supported my mum who was looking after her. I knew Harley was safe with Jane and I'm so grateful she was taken really good care off. Thank you so much
Fantastic experience: Great staff super friendly, treat you animals like there own
Fantastic experience: Great service and Will definitely use again in an emergency. Lovely staff and Albert was very kind and understanding . Thanks
Negative experience: Consultation fee ridiculous, £350 how do they justify that! then add consultation and vat to each item. They were of no help in diagnosing what was wrong with my dog, didn't even take bloods. Gave her 2 injections and 1 tablet for later, total cost over £400 and we still don't know what's wrong with her. I appreciate you have to pay extra for weekends but £350 is beyond belief.
Negative experience: This company takes advantage of customers during a vulnerable time with their sick pets, out of hours and without clear pricing information and sketchy administrative add ons that are unnecessary. They were utterly ruthless about a situation caused by my insurance company which had delayed my payout and tried to heavily penalise me for it. I gad to fight them for months to get it sorted and use their terrible call centre which was always nearly an hour or more wait to speak to rude staff. I'll never use their 'services' again and would encourage anyone else to steer clear of their dodgy practices. Awful treatment during what should be a time of support from any veterinary surgery.
Fantastic experience: Vets Now were so helpful! Couldn’t rate them any higher. We had an emergency with our youngest dog who needed his eye removed, they provided several options for what courses of treatment we could take for our boy - all while being professional and honest about our situation and odds. We really did feel comforted and supported in whatever decision we chose as a family. They made our boy comfortable for the night and they communicated with our own local vets about our dog’s situation which made the following morning for his surgery as smooth as possible. My family and I are so grateful for the services they provided. It was all quite scary as his odds weren’t great. Our boy had his surgery the following morning and done fantastic. Thank you Vets Now!
Hi Cliona, we're so pleased that we were there for you when you all needed us the most. Take care.
Fantastic experience: Vetinary care is available during out of hours and weekends. It is expensive but the fees are the current payable rates and unfortunately there is no way round that. The Vet treated and cared for my cat in her hours of need so I am grateful the service was available. The treatment and care was first class and the vetinary notes where passed to my own local vet to continue treatment. Vets Now also process the insurance claims albeit for an admin fee but again this is a helpful service. Staff were pleasant and very helpful.
Positive experience: Vet Support Excellent Admin very poor - Full Charges taken when only the Excess on the Petplan was all that was required - Full Refund due now and being addressed by the Dog Owners own Vet to clear up the Maladministration
Hi Brian, thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. If you’d like to discuss any aspect of your visit further, please don’t hesitate to contact [email protected], indicating which clinic you attended, your pet’s name and the first line of your home address.
Negative experience: Required emergency appointment for my dog on a Sunday. So many emergencies after our initial consultation, that they were unable to deal with my dog. Possibly could have carried out procedure during the night! I brought him home and fortunately got an appointment with my own vet the next morning. They are extremely expensive. You need insurance to use them. Prescribed medication VERY expensive.
Fantastic experience: The vet I was dealing absolutely brilliant he was calm and reassuring and he was clear in his instructions, but nothing to do with the staff there the price of when you just open the door is 302 pound before your pet is seen absolutely daylight robbery I don't know how the company can justify that ,as I said before the staff our great and I'm thankfull for there help.
Fantastic experience: Professional and kind treatment of our cat Boomer who had a swelling in his left cheek from a cut he sustained while out and about. The Vet kept us updated on his progress while the wound was drained. An excellent emergency veterinary practice and I would certainly recommend them for any pets that have need of intervention after hours. Staff were extremely pleasant and empathetic to both our and Boomer's plight. Highly recommend Vets Now Belfast
Fantastic experience: The staff where lovely, and Rufus was well looked after, highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: Telephone answering service efficient Staff on arrival friendly polite and courteous Vet pleasant knowledgeable and efficient
Fantastic experience: I was a distraught owner with a very sick dog, that contacted the clinic at 3am. It was great to have an out of hours contact, the staff were brilliant and started my beloved dog on the road to a full recovery
Fantastic experience: Couldn't recommend Vets Now enough - my little chihuahua was treated by Jane, for breathing difficulties and fluid build up. From start to finish she was very accommodating and did everything to put my mind at ease, she reassured us and it was just a top quality treatment, we were there just over 3 hours and I got to bring my dog home again. We were included in the decisions of what treatments/what would happen to my dog, felt comforted and relieved as soon as we walked in. Highly recommend!
Negative experience: On a Saturday night, with no other choice, I had to attend Vets Now. The 'start' price was advised over the phone, before I went. Myself & my dog were seen first by a Veterinary nurse. Although, very pleasant, this was a speedy chat & exam. After a while the Vet came in. The nurse had rightly passed all the info on, but the Vet simply repeated what the nurse had said & I felt, more than once, not listened to & VERY rushed. To be fair, I was given clear advice & treatment- BUT I felt very hurried. I feel that is totally unacceptable considering the unbelievably extortionate price charged.
Positive experience: Service wait time, availability, and veterinarian were all great in my experience. To make others aware but not as a criticism I want to mention the cost. 1 night of IV fluids treatment for my kidney disease cat there was quoted at 10x the cost of a single day at my regular vets. You can easily spend all your money there in an emergency and have nothing left for the ongoing required treatment.
Negative experience: Veterinary staff were lovely and very professional, but reception staff need to explain more carefully about insurance claims. I asked twice if they could do a direct claim and was told they could and paid an admin fee for this. One year later I find out they didn't claim and were going to small claims court for money that should have been claimed through my insurance.
Fantastic experience: Vets Now provided a very organised and efficient service in assessing our pet after an injury. As these are stressful situations, this is such a relief. All staff were super friendly as well. Excellent level of care.
Fantastic experience: I've had a great experience. Both vets I've had to deal with this week have been amazing and great help with my dog.
Hi Jean, I’m so happy we could be there for you and that we were able to help your pet.
Fantastic experience: I cannot fault the care our dog got by vets now. The prices however are eye watering, simply unsustainable for owners. If this market is not regulated and prices controlled pets will have to be euthanised because affordable vet care is out of reach.
Negative experience: It was a relief to manage to get an all night vet when my wee dog appeared to swallow some tablets. It was on the Belmont Road in Belfast so a distance to travel from Bangor but that was ok. However, the cost was just ridiculous. When I rang the guy originally talked about three hundred pounds which was crazy to start with. After making the dog sick and giving me a little bottle of medicine to feed to her the cost was actually 468 pounds. This is crazy and these types of prices are pushing people away from vets and actually disliking them due to milking people when they have nowhere else to go. The people were lovely and my little dog is fine but had hardly ate any of the tablets so I flushed the price of a holiday down the toilet for a half an hour of the vet's time. Absolutely scandalous.
Fantastic experience: cannot thank you all enough for the excellent treatment of my very sick pup Anxo .The excellent veterinary service provided to her has given her a second chance of life .
Fantastic experience: We went here because they cover out of hours some days for our normal vets. Saw our cat quickly and were very good. He’s 18 with cancer and managed to get himself into a fight and got pretty beaten up and was in bad shape and couldn’t wait on normal hours of business. The vets were able to come up with a treatment that wouldn’t interfere with his other medication and treatments and he lived to fight another day. Not an inexpensive service, but there were lots of staff on site who need to be paid so that’s understandable. Very pleasant and friendly staff as well who explained everything very clearly.
Fantastic experience: Used the emergency service on a Sunday. My dog required surgery on her leg. The team were efficient, kept me well informed of costs and timeframes. Very happy with the service
Negative experience: Absolutely disgusting. Don’t ever use this company! I had my dog down tonight as an emergency as she was shaking and wouldn’t eat. I wasn’t told how much this would cost on the phone. As I arrived a vet came out and brought me into the room, took her temperature, then told me she would like to look in her ears but needed to go get the equipment, she then proceeded to come back after 5 minutes and say “ oh I can’t find it” then said she would try get a light to look at my dogs head. Left the room again, came back and said “ oh I can’t find that either “. Then said well I would like to take bloods and do a scan, I said ok how much, around £800 or so. I said no that’s a bit much I can speak with my own vet. She said ok her is a paracetamol take her to your own vet in the morning. I was charged £330.70 for this. For the vet to spend more time out of the room looking for equipment they didn’t even have to look at an animal.
Negative experience: I was not happy with the out come . I took my dog to vets now on Friday 7th March after she was vomiting blood and had the runs for 12 hours . The nurse took the dog told me they would take blood to see what it was saying to find out what was wrong . The vet brought my dog out 20 mins later. No blood was taken they gave her a sickness jab and told to go to my own vets the next morning. No explanation as to what could be wrong with my dog No care given to the fact she was vomiting bright red blood . I would definitely not go back
Negative experience: Not happy with service, unable to be given an answer as to what was wrong with my pup. Not very reassuring, vet was not very friendly on the night of the 28th. Charged £333 for an exam and 1 injection, ridiculous money for the care of a sick pup and told to go back to my own vet the next morning.
Negative experience: Just had a call at 9.10 pm to say my dog ashes were ready- only my dog isn't dead!!! What a shock and this has really upset me!! Get your facts right before calling someone with such news!!!
Negative experience: This vet is the only put of hours available that late at night. My cat was seen in a timely manner, I however wasn't in the room during the vets examination. I was told non emergent could wait until Monday and that it was probable vertigo but could be liver or kidney damage that was near midnight on Friday. Sunday morning half 9 he went to another vet at pdsa and was admitted as dehydrated put on supportive care he's still currently there having tests run I'm so glad I didn't wait
Negative experience: My dog hurt his front leg getting out of the car Earlswood vets last night cost £370 and that was only for consultation and pain relief until today!! Got him home and he was in terrible way, couldn't move, blankly staring, crying, shaking and wouldn't sleep like vet had said he would. He was doped out of his head! He lay awake for hours staring and crying and unable to move at all with laboured breathing. I checked the invoice and she had gave him 20ml of methadone all he needed was a light pain relief as he wasn't whining with it and was settled when resting. To me it was just overdosing him. Had more worry after the methadone was administered than I had originally going about his leg/limp. Needless to say I will do my best to avoid out of hours vets if I can and my boy will never have the methadone pumped into again. I honestly find the out of hours vets on Belmont road very lacking in empathy and a complete rip off charging 305 pounds for a consultation. Disgrace. Might I add Earlswood Vets do not run out of hours. VetsNow rent this surgery off them for put of hours service. Needless to say a full complaint is being submitted.
Negative experience: The cost was over £300 to be seen although the vet would of tell me that my cat doesn’t need to be seen according to what information I had given him on the phone , he knew that was NO NEED GO CALL IN … but he just wanted to me VISIT just to charge me although he knew he will not do anything for my cat. The fees was unbelievable!
Fantastic experience: Really lovely, kind hearted and understanding staff. I can't thank them enough for helping me through such difficult times with my guinea piglets.
Negative experience: Visited vets now on New Year’s Day, prepared to pay the assessment fee due to concerns regarding my six month old British shorthair kitten to receive a first class service. Kitten had not eaten in 48/72hours, following examination I was told nothing to be concerned about and put it down to his gums being inflamed with no other investigation.£399 later we were sent home, my kitten deteriorated and I rushed him back to our own vet, he died approx 24 hours later. A simple blood test could have been the difference. Angry and very disappointed by the service and complacency and will not be recommending this service.
Fantastic experience: Massive thank you to "Vet Jane" and the team for possibly saving Mabel's life. Mabel ate steroid ointment which was pure toxic to dogs. Between Cornerstone and here Mabel spent two days and two nights giving her the best chance off survival. Thank you for the care that Mabel received, she is doing really well at the moment.
Hi, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. We hope you have a good day!
Negative experience: The vet seen my dog for 5 minutes with a lump on her stomach and explained it was either a reaction to stitching or a hernia after this he just said to go home with no further help my dog had a check up appointment the next day at another vets within 5 minutes the other vet was able to diagnose the issue and resolve it as she needed fluid drains from the lump. Vetnow charged a cost of 337 pounds this Is an absolute joke considering nothing was done I think the vet was more interested in his just eat order that was arriving as I was leaving
Negative experience: I came with an unwell cat, the attitude of the workers was not acceptable. I paid to have my cat seen not a lecture on my 6 month old cat not being neutered yet!! Ridiculous price to pay for a quick check over for a poorly cat. Obviously have no consideration for single struggling family's. Not even a pay off option.
Fantastic experience: My dog was very ill, the staff were amazing. Explained everything beforehand including costs and what procedures that would be done. It is very expensive if you dont have insurance, which i didnt. But the service and care they gave is priceless, they saved my wee dog, im forever grateful
Fantastic experience: I have always used vets nere me and for the price you certainly don't get the care and helpful staff like I did in the PDSA, thank you all so much for everything I would highly recommend to everyone my we dog was in the best hands and never felt at ease leaving him with anyone in my life as I did yous, I just adore animals and yous are doing a great job thank you! Home for lots of tlc from mummy xx
Fantastic experience: Prompt, friendly and professional service from call handling through to being seen by the vet. Lots of information provided and left feeling reassured that I could contact them day or night if needed. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: So lovely, took excellent care of my kitten when he had to stay over the weekend. Got him on him treatments and kept us updated. So reassuring seeing him coming back to his regular loving self. Honestly thank you so much for the care you took for wee Jam
Fantastic experience: Little Archie was put to sleep. The treatment he received was very careing.
Fantastic experience: My wife and I had to bring our cat here yesterday evening as he had a nasty looking wound on his left side and we didn’t want to wait to bring him to our regular vet, and they don’t have their own out of hours service so they referred us here. The call handler was very helpful and told us we could come over immediately. When we arrived we were seen really quickly and everyone was very friendly and helpful, and we could tell they really cared about our cat.
Positive experience: Great as an emergency vet looked after my dog but discharged next morning and came back that evening which incurred another deposit at such a stressful time, my dog is fully insured, 1st night it was 25% deposit and next night 50% deposit a bit confusing and stressful. But on a positive my dog was really well looked after
Fantastic experience: I recently used the out-of-hours service and I couldn't be more impressed. Within 20 minutes of my call, my dog was seen by their professional and caring team. The staff were warm and friendly, immediately putting me at ease during a stressful time. They took excellent care of my dog and offered additional support, ensuring I knew I could reach out if I needed more advice. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: Vets Now was a fantastic service as we had an emergency with our Cat, they were extremely helpful, explained every step and making sure we understood each step of the treatment. They kept us up to date with how he was doing as he required an over night stay. I never knew this service was available but I’m extremely happy to know there is always going to be help at hand if needed especially at the weekends & bank holidays.
Fantastic experience: We arrived at Vets now and the service and care we received for our pet dog Arthur was exceptional. No waiting time, they were expecting us. Seen straight away and Arthur was treated quickly. Would highly recommend. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: My dog Amby has a condition meaning foreign object that many other breeds would pass tend to get stuck inside his stomach. When he found a dead rabbit bit it in half and swallowed both parts, I thought there may be trouble ahead♂️. I called the emergency vet and was put straight through to them. They were able to see Amby within about an hour and another hour after that he was ready for discharge, minus one dead rabbit.
Hi Brian, we really appreciate your review!
Fantastic experience: Had to ring Vets Now in Belfast out of hours Sat 17th. Our 5 yr old Shih Tzu had been vomiting, slept but when he woke he had a glazed look in his eyes and seemed he didn’t know me or where he was, when he didn’t show signs of it passing I rang Vets Now. They took my pets details and told me to bring him right away. We were seen by a vet very quickly, they took bloods and discovered he was dehydrated, also gave him an anti sickness jab. The vet was very nice and explained it all, said if he was sick to bring him straight back. He has slept a lot in the following 3 days but drinking and having light meals. I don’t know what I would have done without them and would recommend, thankfully my pet is insured.
Positive experience: We recieved great service and care for our rabbit. However, although it is great that the service is available, the price is very very high. We paid almost £1,000 for our rabbit for an overnight stay (10pm to 8am) and a few basic medications and tests (e.g. Glucose test). The rabbit went our normal vet the following day and recieved the same treatment (and more) for less than a quarter of the price. I updated my review to add additional star given that the cost is more a reflection on veterinary care in general in Northern Ireland as opposed to this particular vet. I did receive great service.
Fantastic experience: Excellent service, felt reassured & valued from initial telephone contact. Clear instructions of what would happen. Directions sent via tx. Greeted on arrival so friendly & empathetic. My cat was seen straight away as he was distressed. Vet was informative and took time to discuss my concerns. Very happy with service and treatment for my pet. Amazing team. Thank you he's all better now
Positive experience: My two green cheek conures, Samson and Goliath got hold of a chocolate bar a few hours ago and I took them straight to Vets Now. Most vets aren't confident with parrots so it was great that the staff there were so good with them. Jane was fabulous. Most people can't tell Sam and G apart but Jane was focused enough on them to pick up their little differences and tell them apart. She seemed to genuinely love what she does and my two took to her very well. She was very reassuring and explained our options and the process very clearly. They didn't like the last vet they saw anywhere near as much as they liked Jane. Carol at reception was also very friendly and welcoming. The only reason I'm not giving five stars was the cost. Thankfully our birds didn't need any treatment in the end and it cost us £255.50 to be seen and a consultation with poison control. I understand that out of hours vets are generally much more expensive but it'd be great if this service was accessible to more people. It's heartbreaking to know that some people wouldn't be able to use this service during an emergency due to the cost of it.
Fantastic experience: Mirium was excellent at helping our pug Rocco , lovely lady and Rocco back to normal
Hi Victoria, thanks so much for your lovely feedback, it’s great to hear our team were able to help and that Rocco is doing well.
Fantastic experience: had to take my cat to vets now emergency and the man on the desk was very friendly and took my cat straight away to be put on oxygen. The vets Jane and Sasha explained what was wrong with my cat and my cat had to be admitted. The care that vets now gave was exceptional and very caring staff which put mind at ease. Vets now are very good vets to deal with.
Positive experience: These reviews of vetsnow put me off, I was very reluctant to go but was left with no choice due to a sick cat. The staff were wonderful, very caring and compassionate as I lost my 16year old cat. Yes it is expensive, horribly so, but the vet was very upfront about cost throughout and there were no surprises on the bill. At the end of the day they stopped my boy's pain and that is what matters most.
Negative experience: We took our dog on Sunday evening as he wasn't himself and had a bad stomach. He was given an injection and vet gave us 4 loose Paracetamol tablets to give him later. Total bill was £425 the 4 Tablets where £25.99, Paracetamol tablets cost 55p for a box of 16 in M&S. I understand we have to pay more to see a vet out of hours but this is beyond ridiculous. We had to take our dog to our own vet first thing Monday morning as he is very ill and is still with them, so I have paid £425 for basically nothing !! I've read you reply below, as I said I understand the cost for the Vets time, my point is which you have not mentioned is the cost of the 4 Tablets, there is no reason for this charge it is a disgrace
Fantastic experience: Our cat was very sick last Sunday so we brought him here. Every person we met - receptionist, vets, etc - couldn't have been kinder. It was a scary few hours but our cat got the very best of care, and came home much better. Everything was explained to us along the way so we were never left in the dark. A huge thank you to the whole team.
Negative experience: Informed me I would have to bring a 10 stone dog, that couldn't walk, to Belfast from 30 miles away. Took my name and postcode and put me on hold for 11 minutes until I hung up. Only giving 1 star because I can't give 0. Would not recommend.
Fantastic experience: We visited Vets Now Belfast on Saturday afternoon as our Golden Retriever was not improving after a vet visit on Tuesday past. Sasha the vet working assessed her, took bloods, scan and guided me on every aspect of what was possibly happening to Bonnie. Unfortunately it was awful news and after emergency surgery we were allowed to take Bonnie home next morning to say goodbye to her. Sasha and her team were caring and thoughtful at how they dealt with Bonnie and spoke to me. VetsNow were excellent from start to finish.
Fantastic experience: Turned a scary evening into a good one when I had to bring in our puppy on a Friday night. The vet was really great and he’s back to his crazy self again. I really appreciate the fact that this is an option, really highly recommend if you need help off hours
