Fantastic experience: Although my dog was nervous on my first visit with a painful ear infection, the vet was excellent at reassuring her & as a result she was much more relaxed at her follow up appointment. All of the staff are lovely & friendly too.

Fantastic experience: Over the many years we’ve been with this practice, most of our visits have thankfully only been for vaccinations and routine health checks. This week, however, I had to bring in our nervous rescue dog twice, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the first call with Devon to the consultations with Duncan and Kelly, I felt that everyone truly took the time to listen to my concerns. Their advice was sensible, straightforward, and reassuring. What really stood out was the care and patience shown towards Loki, who is usually terrified at the vets - especially around men. Remarkably, he even took kibble from Duncan’s hand, which felt like a huge breakthrough. I honestly cannot recommend this practice highly enough. The whole team goes above and beyond, and I always feel welcome to phone or pop in for advice - nothing is ever too much trouble.

Fantastic experience: We have ALWAYS received kindness and help from all members of the team that we have met in the 15 months we changed to this Practice. Our beautiful Border Terrier Henry has a condition called spinal reticular spondylosis and cannot be cured but he was after the careful diagnosis by Duncan, put on the appropriate meds.and we are assured of their care as his condition sorsrns. Thsnkyou all at Roborough Vets.

Negative experience: Lied about vaccicheck protocol. Unable to follow basic vacination protocol. Would not reccomend.

Negative experience: My first time actually meeting the family of vets today as met a helper last time. My dogs anxious anyway but also just coming out of season. I had partner waiting outside and told receptionist, vet came out and moodily said "im looking for this dog" no name, no hi excuse me im looking for.The waiting area is small and another dog owner had their dog on a retractable lead and came straight into my dogs face to which she growled. Understandably as is anxious. She had been waiting outside because of this. The vet remarked "that wasn't very nice" in a grumpy manner. My dog approached her for a fuss and was met with a cold reaction. The one thing that had impressed was the stand in vet had requested my dog reseen after treatment to check. First vet to ask this ever at any practice. From reviews I'd read i believed they were a friendly vet run by family with a view of getting to know the pets. From my meeting today I felt my dog was judged instantly as something other than anxious. From my first visit to today's my opinion has been completely changed and I don't think I will be revisiting this vets again. Maybe they should employ the helper full time at least her and the receptionists are friendly, helpful and inviting. Mabe misunderstood and the receptionists and helpers were the friendly family I was assuming we would meet. Had a call back from Duncan the owner he didn't seem impressed, still didn't offer a refund for wasted appointment or negligence of vet. Oh and very not family. Got a reply to review but it focused on Duncans recent loss, which I am truly sorry to hear about but not what my concern or quibble was about. The family maybe great but the vet i met was not. She did as little as possible for as much money as possible. Wouldn't want her representing my buisness

Negative experience: Avoid if you have an anxious dog! This practice was made fully aware that our dog gets anxious at the vets (this is due to a bad experience at her first vets) I waited outside while my partner went into inform them we were here and the vey that was meant to be seeing her came out and said grumpily I am looking for this dog! My partner said our dogs name and she confirmed it was her she was seeing so he came to get us. I went in first to make sure it was clear for her to come through then once inside a lady let her dog get right in our dogs face (her dog was on a retractable lead that she did not lock she just let it go where it wanted) so my dog growled and the vet said moodily that wasn't nice. I apologised and I should not of because we were not in the wrong as our dog wasn't even bothered by the other dog when she came in it was the fact it came right in her face. She is just coming out of her season as well. I thought this vets was a welcoming vets clearly not because they were very cold towards my dog even when she was looking for a fuss! Wont be using them again. They lack compassion which is a shame because the helper who we originally saw when we signed up was amazing with our dog and completely got why she was anxious. If I could give zero stars if would! I dont understand why i can't read the reply in full but I did not speak to Duncan personally my partner did. There was no offer of a refund for no more than 4 minute's consultation for our dog where the vet did not look in her ear and used the lame excuse I am not going to look in there because of the solution that was put in there on our last visit! If her ear wasn't going to be checked why waste our time bringing her in also. She is still shaking her head and scratching at it now! What a waste of £50.

Fantastic experience: Duncan is brilliant

Negative experience: If only I'd seen the reviews from Sarah, Danielle, etc. I believe my cat's condition was missed on 2 occasions. And 3, if you include the £400 I spent on a geriatric profile to be told he was a healthy cat for his age. A few weeks later his health deteriorated. Medication was tried for 2 possible causes and congestive heart failure was the most likely cause for his decline, so a diuretic was prescribed. My cat perked up, but still wasn't himself. After agonising over what to do and talks with Duncan I eventually came to the conclusion that euthanasia would be the kindest thing. My cat was put to sleep yesterday. What a dreadful, stressful time my cat had to endure. The nurse couldn't find a vein in my cat's paw, so had to get a colleague. Then they both tried, while the first one suggested the other leg. Now my cat is getting stressed. Then Duncan appears, if I remember correctly to administer a sedative, but not before sending her away to get a smaller needle. After this they all left me alone with my cat, who was then violently sick. I had to call the nurses back in to help me and then Duncan also returned. When I asked why I wasn't told this could happen, he just casually said something like, this happens sometimes. Euthanasia is supposed to be a humane, kind and painless way to end an animals life. My cat did not receive this. To Pumpkin, my little furry, force of nature. I am so very sorry for what you had to go through. I wish I could take that time back. Sleep peacefully now. I miss you.

Negative experience: We contacted Roborough vet and asked to register with them they took all the details and said they would have our records transferred over which never happened and we've just found out we are still registered to the previous vets. We booked another consultation but had to first find out if we could make a claim with our insurance company, when I said we were just on the phone waiting to find out the lady behind the desk said well you will still have to pay today. We have just been charged 50 pounds for a consultation that we didn't even have. Just found the exchange very rude and we will not be going back. Not a very friendly service to experience when we are really stressed and anxious about our poorly dog.

Fantastic experience: Duncan McWhirter is a fantastic vet and I couldn't reccomend him more. Having worked in kennels and experienced various medical issues in different breeds over the years, I already have quite a good knowledge base which Duncan accepts. He is always happy to further educate and explain, as well as listen to my thoughts. Finding a vet who will work with you is so important and I definately have that in Duncan.

Fantastic experience: Recently moved to this vets and honestly I'm so glad I did. It's a breath of fresh air to have a practise be so friendly to big dogs and accommodating. I've had my female spayed here and they were all so understanding and lovely about it. Also had my male in for a check up and again the staff were awesome with him. Highly recommend this practise. I find the prices are alot more reasonable aswell, compared to other practises I've been with.

Fantastic experience: I had seen one vet for our turtle but was made to feel there was no hope. Took her to Duncan, no messing around checked her over. Said she was in perfect condition and he is operating tomorrow. She obviously hasn't had it done yet but im100% confident now she is going to be okay. Thank you so much you also have lovely staff xx

Fantastic experience: There had been an incident with my Cat & needed a Vet quick. Roborough Vet was the ones who came to my rescue. Grace had been limping badly for 4 days & holding her leg up & not weight bearing at all on it. The staff & Vetenarians at this Surgery could not have been any nicer or helpful in treating Grace. Words fail me in how grateful I am for what they all done. Grace is on the mend now, taking her meds really well which is a bonus ! She was due to go back today for a check up but I had to cancel, due to myself being ill & I didn't want to pass anything on to the Staff, Vetenarians, Cusomers or Pets (in case they can catch it). Thank you doesn't seem enough for what they all done for Grace but I am so so thankful to you all. Jane Reilly

Fantastic experience: After poor experience at my previous vets in Yelverton.I sought a second opinion for my dogs illness.The previous vet had been treating her for an illness she didn't have.Requiring monthly medicines. I asked for a Xray they reluctantly quoted me £947.01 When I presented her to Duncan at Roborough Vets he suggested a Xray immediately.Cost £276.28. On going treatment and medicines far less expensive. They even recommended purchasing the medicines online !!!! They restored my faith in human nature

Negative experience: This vet used to be good. My poor cat. Used to feel like a family practice. Then everything Changed. Duncan tells me her quality of life is poor. Then asks me if this is my first time putting an animal asleep. Im 21 how many animals does Duncan think I have owned, cause this would be my first time if I had agreed to it. She’s 5 yrs old. I have now moved to vets for pets and my cat has diabetes, she’s gone from needed to be euthanised to a happy lively cat. Being independent was the main reason for picking Roborough vets but for us it was a mistake. I look forward to their feedback since they have ignored all my emails.

Fantastic experience: My normal vets is the PDSA but I needed a specific test test for my dogs diagnosis so I rang Roborough for advice and from start to finish they were extremely helpful and professional. I was greeted by friendly and informative staff and I wasn’t kept waiting. The test was performed quickly and professionally and they rang me as soon as the results were available. My dog was happy throughout so we both give Roborough vets a big paws up xx

Duncan and his team helped us up to the very end, ensuring Jasper was in no more pain, with compassion and dignity. We will not hesitate and would highly recommend Duncan and the team. Negative experience: Made an appointment 1-2 months in advance, I let them know during that phone call that I needed a health certificate to travel and still was charged an emergency service fee for short notice.

Fantastic experience: Massive thank you to Duncan and the staff for seeing our ferret so quickly and thoroughly. Saved my best friends life for such an affordable price.

Fantastic experience: Best vets I've ever encountered. Caring, precise and honest. Very reasonably priced, are compassionate and will not rip you off! I will never go with anybody else. They even managed to get ahold of a little cone after my poorly ferret went in for surgery which no vet prior could offer me! My other ferret despite all of my efforts, chewed his stitches out.

Negative experience: Very upset that my dog was misdiagnosed, probably because he was not examined. I changed Vets as I was worried things were not right by which time it was too late to save him. A simple examination and blood test would have made all the difference. Don't let your Vet fob you off with 'he's just old' demand that more investigations are done.

Negative experience: Recently purchased a puppy from the the area that was puppy checked at this practice . Eye condition totally missed that was immediately diagnosed by my veterinary practice - I had purchased him on the report which stated “ a straightforward conjunctivitis “ . Today he has had to have surgery which has cost me 160 pounds to save his sight in the future . Annoyed at a missed diagnosis - sorry for breeder who paid for this check !!
