Fantastic experience: Just signed up to this vets as the reviews were good. Waiting room was clean and tidy and receptionist made me feel welcome. I Booked in right away on their website and was no waiting time. Vet was understanding with my anxious dog and I have booked again for a full dental next month.

Fantastic experience: Our cat had his annual vaccinations on 31 December 2025 and the receptionist was really lovely. The vet was excellent and treated our cat with care. We've been with Elm Cottage for many years now and have always found them to be excellent.

Fantastic experience: The receptionists are kind and understanding as are the veterinarians. I've had my pets there for a number of years. If there's any criticisms to be had, I'd say the reception/waiting area needs to be bigger.

Fantastic experience: Always friendly and get us an appointment shortly notice when needed. Recently my dog went lame on one leg and he had a scan and check up. I felt safe in the knowledge he was in kind hands. They are also very understanding when the naughty boy had an accident in the waiting area.

Negative experience: Can't say I had the same service said that my dog had crushate ligament problems when I took her in with a limp she's worse than when I let them treat her went back on another matter and questioned the vet who carried out the surgery asking his success rates to another vet that was treating my dog when I went back into the reception area I was ambushed by a woman who told me in a very authority way that she was the practice manager and why i was speaking to her vet i told her that I wasn't happy with her vet diagnosis and that the surgery carried out on my dog didn't have any effect and was her vet any good as he hasn't done a good job on my dog she then tried to say my dog had probably sprained her leg walking i said maybe her vet just wasn't that good my dog now has a plate and pins in her back leg as well as her original condition she then sent me a message saying find another vet practices which I have for my second visit to elm ultrasound £200and bloods£569 new vets no ultra sound but bloods £117 futher to this review I've received an email from elm vets telling me how my dogs health came before money this is clearly not true because they wouldn't start treatment until they received the money as they won't deal directly with manypets insurance and manypets wouldn't pay out until treatment starts so both parties wanted me to pay before either one would help my dog after £5000 and follow ups my dog molly still limping

Fantastic experience: Been going here years very little problems, not with vets or staff just there booking system. Booked me an appointment with confirmation text got there no appointment? Other than this really good vets, expensive as is every vet nowadays.

Fantastic experience: Update: still bringing my pets here and still such friendly staff. Craig the vet has seen my cats multiple times now and is always kind, respectful, listens to me and is kind and gentle with my cats. He listens to my concerns and has recently changed flea meds for me. Couldn't fault any visit! Everyone I've ever spoken to has been very friendly. I bring all my pets here and have never had a bad experience. Everyone tries to help. They were very kind and attentive when my cats went in for surgery. You also get text reminders of appointments and when to worm and flea your pets which is handy. They also offer the pet health club discounts from their website.

Fantastic experience: Went to Elms when my little man began to eat less and less, the receptionists looked after me and my sister while we waited to see if anything could be done. The Vet was so lovely and caring to my Loki until his last breath. The only downside to the visit was the intense heartbreak I felt of loosing the sweetest boy I knew

Negative experience: Elm vets you should be ashamed of yourselves, i genuinely cant get my head around your conduct today. Our cat Queenie came in for microchipping today a very standard procedure for you, we waited longer for our appointment and stayed patient as other's proceeded to pace the car park and were clearly frustrated by your punctuality. We were invited in for our appointment for my fiancee to eventually walk out after 5 minutes to my suprise, wow that was quick. We got in the car and my fiancee explained that our car Queenie had already been chipped, we didnt know as the professional breeder we purchased Queenie ( A Maine Coon) didn't disclose this to us. No problem this was great news ...I proceeded to ask how much it was to my horror £61.The original charge for the chipping was £45....I couldn't get my head around it so I proceeded to walk in and ask why we had paid £61 instead of the £45 to which we were told you had a consultation !! we didn't have a consultation the vet scanned her and proceeded to tell us Queenie was already chipped we didnt need one !! it was fair to pay the original chipping fee i completely understand but you lied and rather than accept you made a mistake you then started to tell us that we had taken out a prescription. I asked if you always scan a cat to be chipped and you said yes its procedure so what were we paying for in addition !!! Our cat did not have what any vet would consider to be a consultation. You didn't check her ears, her teeth, her fur for fleas, anything at all and took advantage of what you thought were acceptable lies. You can make money and not take advantage of people financially and make up story's and scenarios. Never again.

Fantastic experience: I took on a cat that had been abandoned and was in a terrible state, riddled with fleas and worms, but worst of all, a frightening skin condition, so bad, it was as if she was covered in barnacles. The care and consideration shown by the Elm surgery and vet was wonderful and I now have a beautiful, healthy, fluffy and very happy companion. Well worth the money, worth joining their own pet club and as kind to your animals as you could hope for. I highly recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience: I cannot speak highly enough of the team at Milehouse. One of my cats is fortunate enough to have just visited for routine checks/jabs but the other one recently required dental surgery - the care and compassion with which each member of the team treats my cats is second to none, taking their time to thoroughly examine the cats and never rushing the consultations. My cats are relatively new patients at Milehouse as our previous surgery was suddenly closed down, and as our family pet was a patient there for fifteen years, it seemed like the obvious place to move to. No regrets whatsoever!

Fantastic experience: I just wanted to pass on a huge thank you to the Elm Team at Milehouse Surgery for the care given to Oscar and compassion showed to myself and Howard last Thursday afternoon (27 Mar 25). Being offered a same day appt was unexpected. The fact that Dr Christina was open and honest and didn't rush us, offering us the space and time to decide what we wanted to do in regards to Oscar's diagnosis/ management was exceptional service without judgement. Thankfully Oscar had a comfortable night on Thursday into Friday. Thank you also for the recommendation of Nirvana Vets who were able to do a home visit. Oscar went to sleep peacefully on Friday afternoon under their care, which was also exceptional. Oscars first and last photos - Heartbroken - Night night our beautiful Oscarboy....

Positive experience: Receptionists are friendly and helpful. Vets are good and seem knowledgeable. Only reason I haven't given 5 * is we never see the same vet twice and it'd quite nice to have built up a relationship with my dog and one vet. To be fair, he loves going though so it doesn't make a difference to him!

Negative experience: If I could give zero stars I would.Today, I went there for the first time to register and book an appointment. However, there was an elderly receptionist who was very rude, unfriendly, and disrespectful. I will never go there again, and I highly recommend choosing another place.

Fantastic experience: We have been using this vet for our Boxer for over 5 years now and the staff have become familiar faces. Every single member of the team has been nothing short of phenomenal, as they consistently go above and beyond to look after him with genuine patient-centric care. Fantastic experience: I brought in a wild Crow that had a bad foot and the vet girls here looked at her & took her out to fly about in their enclosure, concluding that it was an old injury that had healed & lady crow could be put back home in the wild with her family. Negative experience: If I could give zero stars I would. The lack of care for my cat was horrendous. They were rude, condescending with a complete lack of empathy. Rather than admit to not knowing what was wrong with her and investigate they aggressively passed blame, refused to accept what they being told and after being tired of practically begging for help I changed vet and after further investigation and operation was done and my cat is now perfectly fit and healthy and thriving once again. Using them was the most traumatic experience I’ve had to endure.

Fantastic experience: This is my first pet and first ever experience with vets. I didn’t see anything wrong in this clinic. They always have availability, always kind and helpful. My 6months old ragdoll had castration and microchipped the same day. He’s been there from 9in the morning till 3:30. But he was fine after the surgery. Didn’t have any problems.

Negative experience: Absolutely shocked!! My daughter took a parrot she found injured to this vet the other day. They told her if it was injured they would do the right thing and put it down, few hours later she recieved a call stating the parrot was absolutely fine and if she wanted to collect it she could and she did. She then got in touch with a lady not far away about rescue and recovery, and the lady told her to bring the bird over. I took her, out of her own time at 19:00 she met us at her shop and gave the bird a quick once over only to instantly find the bird was missing 2 flight feathers which she showed us and it was 1000% obviously to the untrained eye they were missing and then she showed us how the bird had NOT 1 BUT 2 BREAKS to its left left leg, even I could feel the breaks. Yet this so called vets couldn't see huge feathers missing, leaving a gaping hole in the right wing and 2 breaks to the leg. I'm shocked and saddened that a so-called vet couldn't spot these easy finds. Disgusting, and if anyone reads this, please think twice about using these cowboys who knows what they dont find or if they actually know what they're doing.

Negative experience: I write this because I feel this that no one should have to go through this after the loss of a pet. I do want to be clear that my issue all stems from the Admin side of the practise, NOT the vets themselves. My cat passed away. As we all know its a horrible thing to go through. The vet was fantastic. We chose individual cremation and an urn. All Brilliant. The problem was collection. We had called ahead to say we where coming to collect our cat. On the phone call nothing was mentioned about payment. Just we are sorry for your loss. We have alwaya paid our bills on time and online. This helps us to claim back from our insurance company because we need the invoice. We arrived to collect our cats ashes to be told we had to pay the balance before they would even bring him out. I was a little stunned at this point. We explained that we normally pay online. So please send us the invoice ( like they had done for the last 6 years). We where told "no, we cannot release your cats ashes until you pay the balance" I want to be clear that we had no issue in paying the balance at all its all about how this was very poorly handled by the Admin staff. We did say "So you are holding our cats ashes to ransome". If they had said on the phone that they needed payment we would have asked them to send the invoice right away and would have paid it before we collected him. Also I would like to add that I personally don't like them telling everyone who is in the surgery waiting to be seen how much you owe. I find that very personal and should be discussed seperately. Anyway that is a seperate issue. So we paid and left with our cats ashes. This is where I feel it got worse. We put a claim in with our insurance company. Now pet plan are always great and process things quickly. Five working day is the normal turn around for them. Elm vets took over 3 weeks to send pet plan the information. Which also ment we where charged another £100 + because we couldn't cancel any of his other pet stuff because we didn't have any information to prove he had passed away. We where informed that the person who deals with the claims was on holiday. Nothing else. (like it was no big deal for us to wait nearly a month for our claim but remember they needed to be paid immediatley). After some time we thought the house was empty so we rescued another cat. We called to register him with the Vets (As I stated the vets themselves are amazing). We where not accepted at the practise. So Thank you to the vets for all your support with our cat. Admin staff, Terrible

Fantastic experience: My cat Patch and I were seen approximately 8/9 minutes later than our appointment, not too bad it's been a lot later on other occasions. Because I have no access to a car, we have to come by taxi, and they always insist we get picked up early, so yesterday Patch was in her carrier for 45 mins before we left home, and of course we arrived at your Vets almost 25 mins early with nothing to do but wait, and hope we might be seen a little earlier than our appointment time. Anyway it didn't work out like that of course, so other than the few minutes Patch was with the Vet,by the time I'd ordered another taxi to take us home, Patch had been in her carrier for almost two hours, not good. The thing with us non car accessibility folk, all you car drivers don't realise how awkward taking a pet to a Vet is, you can all jump in your cars and off you go. I don't expect you realise that it now costs me over £14, in fact yesterday it was £14.80 return, heck of a lot of money. But, rest assured that Patch will always come first, and the cost of a taxi won't stop me bringing her to you. I've been with your practice for years so you know I don't neglect my pet's. I'm just trying to bring home to you and others that it's not easy having to rely on more and more expensive taxis. Right, moan over, hopefully you'll put yourselves in my and other taxi user's shoes. I do appreciate all Elm Cottage do, and it's a very well run practice. Thanks Jane Harrod

Fantastic experience: I live in Cornwall my vets is in Plymstock it takes me an hour and a half to get there but its the best vets in the South West in my opinion they treat your pets as if they were their own and my dogs are never traumatised after going to see them so if you love your pet sign up with elm and also sign up with pet club worth every penny plus discount on some treatments I won't use anyone else even though I could use PDSA but rather pay elm vets they are wonderful

Fantastic experience: The best vets I have dealt with. Very kind and patient with my poor old, arthritic staffy. She is now enjoying life again. Hannah is so kind and always makes time to answer questions. She has tried different medications with really great results. Negative experience: My puppy had to have his second vaccination. The vet in this place was unable to do it properly while the puppy was standing still. She prickled his skin wrongly and half of the dose run down the fur. Then she started to prickle many times , in this case the puppy was trying to escape crying loudly. The wet demonstrated a very bad experience in doing basic things.

Fantastic experience: We recently had to say goodbye to our beloved dog after 16 years, Elm Vets were so kind and compassionate, the procedure was so peaceful and dignified, we cannot thank you all enough for those precious last moments.

Negative experience: They are only driven by money, NOT the love of animals. During lockdown, when we were all supposed be be coming together during this awful time. My injured cat was turned away who needed an operation on her leg. They agreed for us to pay in 2 instalments, we said great first payment tomorrow and 2nd payment in a few days. They said no 1st payment right now, it was approx 5pm, so they weren’t prepared to wait 7 hours for 1st payment. The first lockdown hit lots of people in their pockets and they weren’t prepared to wait 7 hours. We already had an account with them and we had an impeccable payment record with them. How could you turn away an injured animal when you yourself said it is better for the animal if operation takes place no more than 6 hours after injury. How is that coming together and helping one another during the pandemic. No you are only in this for the money, not the welfare of the animal. We had to let her suffer through the night and go elsewhere, which was way past the 6 hours golden time. Also, they sent us a bill for £120, even though they refused to operate on her. Can you believe that. This was for a bandage & pain relief. Shocking service.

Positive experience: OK, the waiting room is a bit cramped, but the staff are friendly and the doctors know their stuff. I've brought my furry bundle of joy twice there because he sometimes can't stop itching and both times I have been seen within a few minutes of my booked appointment.

Fantastic experience: Easy to set up appt with prompt response by phone after email booking request. Phone on arrival and wait in car park. Busy clinics, so delay, but happy to do so in warm car. Vet collected pet from car after quick chat about issue. Vet brought pet back with comprehensive briefing and I bought medication and paid for consultation at reception. Also fed back details of existing treatment by email and fast response back. Excellent service could not be faulted
