Since 2003, Vets Now Swansea has been providing out-of-hours emergency veterinary care for dogs, cats, and small animals when they need it most.
Our emergency clinic is a bit like the pet equivalent of A&E, offering veterinary care at nights, early mornings, weekends and bank holidays in case your pet has had a sudden accident, injury or illness. You’ll be looked after by a dedicated team of experienced emergency vets and registered veterinary nurses.

Fantastic experience: We attended Vets Now late on a Sunday night and found the whole experience excellent. From the call handler to the receptionist and vet the service was thoughtful and efficient. The vet and nurse handled our distressed cat extremely well and the consultation notes were emailed to us and our regular vet within 30 minutes.

Positive experience: Very nice people, but very expensive, vets take advantage for the love you have for your pets, I was no further on what was wrong with my dog having fits, give medication and that's that.

Negative experience: I don’t mind paying put of hours fee as that is expected however meds dispensed were not usable without wasting a lot.. which when an out of hours fee is added to each medication means £50 was spent on meds that could not be used properly. I am a nurse and capable of drawing meds up… I had to spend further money getting an appropriate administration set up. However the staff were friendly and got things moving in the right direction.

Positive experience: Took our dog in on Boxing Day & the only issue we had was the waiting time , over 3 hours is kind of stressful for both pet & owner .. but this is probably due to the day & the staff being very busy! The staff were lovely though & very grateful this service was available

Fantastic experience: Can’t thank these vets enough for how quickly they diagnosed my dog who had become unwell very suddenly, they sorted everything out for him to go to Bristol animal hospital for immediate surgery, he is home now recovering, if it wasn’t for their prompt action the outcome could have been dire. Fantastic experience: I can't thank the emergency team enough for saving my girl's life the other day. Fast acting, thorough, clear and precise communication in one of the hardest and most stressful situations I've ever been in. Everyone who works here is a hero and I won't ever be told or hear otherwise! Called at 5:15am and was told come straight in, when we arrived they immediately took her around the back and did an ultrasound scan within 15 mins we were told what it showed and given options of plans of action. We decided to admit her and came back for 8am to transfer her to PDSA around the corner where she underwent a life saving surgery and is now recovering and hopefully she continues to be on the mend. My partner and I just had to say goodbye to his is little sister very suddenly, I've also had to put my childhood family dog and cat down this year, so Vets Now didn't just save my dog's life, but ours too. We couldn't have taken a different outcome. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts ❤

Negative experience: This was an put of hours emergency, we were expected, but were left outside in the pouring rain for over 5 mins. Did not actually speak to the vet only nurses who were more interested in taking my details on a computer which kept crashing, than attending to my dogs. We were prescribed medication for the dogs 30ml 6 times a day, but only provided with 2 100ml bottles

Fantastic experience: I had to take my cat Molly to the emergency clinic recently. Staff were helpful and friendly although seemed overworked. Triage wasn't as quick as I thought it would be and in total it took 2.5 hours before she was seen by a vet. When you are worried sick about your pet 2.5 hours may as well be 2.5 days! The vet was kind, efficient and put us at ease. I think some more staff is a must especially during emergency hours.

Positive experience: Our dog was attacked so we had to attend on a bank holiday Monday. Nurses/vet and staff were fantastic. The only reason for 4 and 5 stars is because they were absolutely run off their feet. It was so busy, there is no way they can cope with that level of animals needing support. They did their best but it wasn’t fair on the staff or the animals. No room in the waiting room. Ridiculously long wait with a very stressed dog. Management need to consider more vets/nurses to be working on bank holidays.

Positive experience: We were seen immediately on arrival. I felt listened to and that the treatment was good. Typically my pet was ill in the middle of the night so it was over £300 to walk in the door but that is par for the course. The only negative was trying to find the place, sat nav sent us to the practice address. I tried using the post code I was given, and thenjust using the name of the vet practice. Sat nav and Google kept sending me to the wrong place, we eventually found the new practice venue, but it had taken an extra 30 minutes to locate it which could have had dire consequences had my pet been more seriously unwell.

Positive experience: Vet was kind and I was confident in her. She took her time and explained everything to us. We went to the previous vets now clinic on Viking way 2 years ago and this was a much nicer environment than that clinic. It’s just ridiculously expensive. Appreciate that we’re paying a premium for an out of hours service but I think you are taking advantage of people who are in very difficult positions.

Negative experience: I contacted the clinic to help a stray cat with an advanced form of caudal stomatitis or possible dental issues. After 40 minutes, they called me and said that the cat was fine and eating. However, he had been eating before that as well. Despite my requests for them to help the cat, they did not respond in any way. I insisted that they keep the cat for at least one day. The next day, I picked him up. They told me they gave him an injection, but I don't know what it was, and I’m not even sure if any actual help was provided. Now the cat's condition has worsened, and their actions only made it worse, while I wasted valuable time. I do not recommend contacting this clinic.

Fantastic experience: We took our lab here for an our of hours emergency appointment; it was heart breaking news but at no point did we feel alone or unsupported. In our experience, the place was run not just by vets or support and admin staff, but by genuine animal lovers, too.

Negative experience: Disgusted with this Veterinary Practice after our family cat, clearly unwell was taken by a stranger on Saturday night with concerns (whom we can't thank enough for trying to help) and dismissed by the vet who in his or her professional opinion told the stranger with our cat there was nothing wrong, that he was elderly and to take him back to where she found him. His microchip was checked by the vet and the stranger was informed of the street but not the door number after my parents missed one late night phone call. The lady dutifully did as she was told but with reservations as she believed Tigger was unwell and needed help. Tigger was placed in the first garden of the street that my parents live in with the hope he would find his way home. HE HASN'T!! It is now 3 days. Everyone has been out looking. The stranger made contact with my parents after a desperate Facebook post asking if anyone had seen their cat and has relayed FACTS!! The practice rang my parents number ONCE. Told the stranger there was nothing wrong with the cat when she was concerned enough after seeing him to take time on her Saturday night to get him to a place of what she thought would be safety and professional help. Was told the street but not door number and that she should take him back and leave him. With one missed call and no other information was it not practical to keep him overnight? My parents may have moved last week and not updated the microchip details.. of course no one considered that, this is obviously not the case, but where is the logic or common sense? Something was wrong with the cat. My parents can not find Tigger. We hold this Veterinary practice solely responsible, they have failed completely in their duty of care towards an animal in obvious need of help and sent him away to be left and is now missing. This review will be followed with a full complaint to all the relevant agencies. Absolutely disgusting!!!

Fantastic experience: Vets Now dealt with us quickly, respectfully and helped our dog after eating raisins and dark chocolate. They also didn't judge us for allowing these items in easy reach of a dog!! Yes out of hours is expensive but the nurse on reception explained everything really well and explained what all the charges were for, luckily for us our family member has come home tonight, we witnessed the staff dealing with a grief stricken family at the same time as our emergency, they gave them all the respect, space and time they needed with their loved one. Negative experience: Would never ever use this service again. I was told that your vets would be able to see my snake, although not experts. I took her there, they kept calling her the wrong species, they told me they don’t see snakes/reptiles, they said they had nothing there to treat her, they told me they could not see or hear anything (she had a major RI) they sent me home with her and told me to buy things online and go see another vet. Charging me £303.50 to show up and for none of them to have a clue, they should have never agreed to see her they just wanted the emergency consultation fee. Cut a long story short we went to another vet where she was in severe critical condition, they tried everything to save her and unfortunately couldn’t, they left her suffer by not having a clue and accepting to see an animal they had ZERO experience in. I’m disgusted and downright appalled at the service. If you are not competent then you should not be offering to see animals you should suggest else where, clearly shows that they will say anything to get you through them doors so you automatically owe them money. Also they add a ‘donation’ fee without asking you and charge you. Yes it’s a tiny amount but it’s not a donation when you haven’t been asked to me that is a fee. Should be ashamed

Fantastic experience: Absolutely devastated to lose my baby boy but James was fantastic. He came to the car to put my dog to sleep and he didn't rush anything and explained everything so we understood . Not ideal being in the car but he .are the best out of an awful situation x

Fantastic experience: Was with this Emergency Vet at 11.30 pm on Boxing Day, after a wound erupted. What an amazing experience. The staff could not have been more caring and gentle with our boy. The aftercare was explained to both my husband and myself in detail. Wish they were our own vets!

Fantastic experience: On last day of holiday we had to take our dog to the vets and Vets Now was open after hours. They explained things well on the phone, we spoke to a vet quickly, they saw our dog that evening, treated her kindly and professionally. Receptionist helped with paperwork. We’re very grateful

Negative experience: Had an emergency appointment in the Swansea branch for my Black Labrador. They charged us £700 for 20 minutes. Didn’t do a blood test, I don’t think they took his temperature, said everything was fine but my Labrador died the following day. Absolutely devastated

Fantastic experience: Staff were helpful, kind and efficient. They treated our cat quickly, she had been hit by a car and Vet diagnosed fractured pelvis. Still early days but she is slowly making progress. Thank you all for the excellent care she received.

Negative experience: Incredibly poor service on Monday 9th September. We had a late evening emergency in Swansea with our Cocker Spaniel who had eaten sugar free chewing gum (highly toxic to dogs). Called our vet...got diverted to Vets Now...oh sorry, due to staff shortages you'll need to go to Newport. Simply unacceptable, get a locum to cover! Managed to get seen by another vet in Swansea. Ditching our current vet immediately and along with them...Vets Now.

Fantastic experience: We had a serious emergency medical issue with our cat late one evening. We were able to get hold of Vets Now very easily (through a link on our own vets’ website) We were able to take our cat to an out-of-hours vets hospital immediately. Our cat was treated effectively by brilliant and caring staff. She was kept in overnight, and we took the cat to our own vet in the morning, after x-rays, scans and blood tests were taken. Our cat was very well cared for, quickly and efficiently by professional and compassionate staff. The admin team also sorted my insurance claim. I am so happy that Vets Now operate this invaluable service. Thank you so much.

Positive experience: Great service and care from Robin and his team vetinery team in duty Understanding receptionist thank you and Robin and his assistant very supportive helpful and professionally made our hound comfortable administering painkillers and showing me how to express her bladder which was totally successful She had been able to lift her leg and urinate successfully on her own rather than through the catheter and thus is a great step forward On one observational note Perhaps your vet nurse assistant could be less judgemental offering opinions and questioning my judgement as to why we had moved practice to our current vets who have been very supportive over the last four weeks. I felt this unnecessary and unhelpful in an emergency situation and would suggest it was out of place and caution on making this sort of comment.Having confidence in a supportive knowledgeable and professional team is and remains important to us Thank you for your help

Fantastic experience: On the recent bank holiday Monday we attended the emergency vets with our elder dog who was very unwell. The staff rushed our dog through to be seen and unfortunately we had to have her put down. The staff on site were amazing through this terrible time and I can’t thank them enough. A few days later a hand written sympathy card and seeds were posted through our door which truly touched myself & my wife. Thank you again to all the staff at vets now Swansea.

Fantastic experience: Spoke to a lovely man who gave us directions and what we needed to bring for the appointment. We had quite a wait, but this was due to the vets dealing with an emergency cesarean. The staff kept us informed of the delay. Saw the vet who was lovely, and the reception staff explained the process for claiming through my pet's insurance.

Positive experience: Lovely staff, dealt with my cat very well and stitched his leg. Astronomical cost mind you and didn't even get a full course of antibiotics as they only give emergency amount for the weekend... for costing over 1K I expected a full course and not to have to go to my own vet on Monday for more.

Positive experience: Service was good was seen straight away.. but the price for my cat to have stitches can only be described as extortionate £240 for a consultation whole thing cost me £898 where as it would of only been £350 in my normal vets had it been open I understand you pay a bit more for an emergency but almost triple is disgusting there’s no payment plans either it has to be payed in full there should at least be an option to pay in instalments I feel like the vets here take full advantage of this

Fantastic experience: l felt well looked after as soon as I arrived. The receptionist was caring and helpful so was the triage nurse. Lorna Joseph was delighted to see my Sealyham terrier one of our at risk native Welsh breeds which I've had in my life for 87 years breeding and showing in my younger days but now only as companion pets. It was wonderful that Lorna took time to explain each step as she examined Suzie. I felt reassured by the care shown to her and me as I was very anxious. A thousand thanks for the excellent service.

Fantastic experience: I was asked to go immediately to the Swansea branch where I was met with confident staff who quickly took all of the details of the emergency. I was told exactly what the plan was, the prognosis, time scale and all costs. The Reception staff handled all the insurance information and with a small admin fee will do all the hard work for us. After a negative experience many years ago I was really thankful and pleased to be met with a team who handled everything with knowledge and kindness.
