Fantastic experience: We have been with Gower Vets for 4 years, and have been on Pet Plan with the surgery from the very start. From our experience, reception staff have always been helpful and friendly, manager Jo has always returned my contact and went out of her way to ensure our pet did not miss his monthly treatment, when i realised very last minute we had run out and were due to go on holiday. Our pet suffers with anxiety and on our last visit nurse Chloe went above and beyond, not only taking the time, but showing care, understanding and really wanting to try and help with the anxiety. What a difference this makes to not only our pet but to us too. We cant express how grateful we are to Gower Vets. Thank You

Negative experience: Suggest the vet to change the topical cream for my cat as she is suffering from sever feline acne for quite some time. She didn't look at antibiotic cream , had no idea . And suggested things to do which everybody knows. Wont be going there . Total waste of money and time .

Negative experience: Please change people who sit on reception and accept calls. I called them and they did not have a slot to book an appointment for me today (said the latest was 3:45, I needed around 6), my partner called 30 minutes later and they gladly booked him at 6. And after booking him they called after 40 minutes and left a voicemail that they have to reschedule the appointment. 4 hours of notice. So unprofessional. Maybe the vets there are good (we did not get a change to try), but receptionists are utterly terrible.

After weeks of suffering and getting nowhere with my previous vets, I reached a breaking point. Luna was lifeless, in obvious pain, and I felt completely let down. Trusting my gut, I contacted Gower Vets—last minute—and they didn’t hesitate to take us in. From the moment we arrived, everything changed. They listened, they took her condition seriously, and they acted with care and urgency. Luna was started on proper treatment immediately—steroids, antibiotics, medicated baths, ear drops—everything she had needed for weeks but wasn’t given. Within 24 hours, I saw a completely different dog. She was finally comfortable. Finally getting relief. And for the first time in weeks, I didn’t have to sit helplessly watching her suffer. Gower Vets gave Luna her life back—and gave me hope again. I’ll never forget their kindness and the way they truly cared. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Fantastic experience: Top marks for this practice. We're on holiday in the area and one of my dogs injured himself. We got an appointment, the dog was thoroughly checked over and had meds prescribed, all within two hours. I can't praise the vets enough.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic. Appointments are always fast, staff are always friendly and they have solved all my dogs problems without issues. Brilliant with my bulldog who can be difficult, Also nice to my old staffy who is very vocal and can't sit still quietly - and helped my Chihuahua the same day - immediately- when she had an issue. Was also very accomadating when we sadly had to have our Lab put to sleep last year. Recommend 100%.

Negative experience: I have been a customer of Gower since the early 00’s I have been with them through the lives of several pets and drove over 30 minutes each way to go to Gower because Will and Richard were the best vets I’d met. In recent years especially since they left the practice has gone down hill mostly the way it was managed or so I thought until my most recent and final experience with them. A referral form was lost, not really a problem except the vet had not put his filling it out in his notes. It wasn’t discovered missing for almost 6 months then for over a year I was kept waiting then misinformed misdirected and fibbed off with more misinformation. Eventually they chose to wash their hands of the situation. Which lead to my leaning the practice and making a formal complaint. No apology was offered for the time wasting or assurances that a process would be put in place to ensure another customer goes through something similar. They simply and quite rudely accused another medial practice of attempted fraud. Shocking. Also for those unaware are they certainly won’t tell you if your pet is put to sleep and cremated gower will add £100 charge onto what the cremation company charge. The cremation company bluebell and other will come and collect your pet immediately for £100 less. And return them within 3 days. It’s taking advantage of people at their lowest. Disgusting. They care more about money then they do their animals patients it’s a disgrace Photograph every form you get or give in because they will swear blind they didn’t receive or return it. Avoid this practice like the many who have left to join other practices in recent years.

Negative experience: My dog was spayed and I asked to have vaccinations done at same time but I was only charged for the spay on collecting her, they said I could pay when she came in for her check up. I was then inundated with phone calls, emails and txt asking for the money. I paid a matter of days after the spay but I'm still being msged by them to pay the amount, even though I've paid in full. Not pleasant and it's a shame as the nurses there are really good just very heavy handed on the money front

Negative experience: After being a loyal customer for nearly twenty years I will never frequent this practice again. I was unable to pay for prescription drugs as their card machine was not working, I was informed that this was ok as I have an appointment two days later and this could be added to my next bill. However, in less than 48 hrs I have been harassed for payment with, 3 voicemails, 3 texts and 4 emails requesting payment. I find this completely unexpected harassment. This practice now values money over care for its clients, sadly .

Fantastic experience: Gave us an emergency same day appointment to look at our dog's eye as we were unhappy with a discharge. Vet Phoebe examined her and said there was nothing serious but prescribed treatment to be on the safe side.

Negative experience: Unfortunately this isn't the same vets as when it opened. There is no compassion it seems very money orientated which has included giving incorrect prognosis. This has resulted in us moving vets which is such a shame as I have been a loyal customer for over 20 years.

Fantastic experience: Couldn’t thank this vets enough, our dog Ben was so unwell We thought we was going to loose him. The vets at gower surgery done everything they could to get him better. He is now happy and healthy and we are so grateful. Highly recommend this vets. Thank you again.

Fantastic experience: Always good service even when super busy

Negative experience: Comes off as money orinated, didn't even offer any financial help to a long term client when she died and her dog was very sick leaving neighbours and friends to pay the bill, which they wanted in full at first which all happened on the day the owner died but then allowed us a few days grace , even charged consultation and the bill down to the last 27p and the dog died. Never been so disgusted at a vets before.

Positive experience: My cat was unfortunate enough to suffer a blocked bladder last week and the care she received at Gower has been exemplary. She doesn't enjoy visiting the vets or taking medication but at every step of the way they have been accommodating to us, explaining what we need to do in her best interest, and always taking her stress levels as well as sickness into account. Every question I've had has been answered well and patiently, and the reception staff have been lovely every day we've had to visit or I've phoned for advice. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that they don't have a 24 hour service so when she was admitted to the emergency vet overnight I had to transport her from the PDSA hospital building over to Gower myself, and was facing the possibility of doing the reverse in the evening if she had to be hospitalised for longer!

Fantastic experience: So during COVID-19, Even with the restrictions, the locum I saw today was friendly, professional, very helpful and made my dog totally relaxed and she listened to all possible causes of his complaint and was happy to accept my limited knowledge of vetinary practice, all the staff were working from the carpark and they were all happy, smiling and very welcoming x and today I was made to feel special by the receptionist, so welcoming and no problems with making a same day appointment, and my boy is very lucky to have Chloe as his vet, we both feel so happy with the service provided today and the treatment plan in place, couldn't make any better recommendation for the practice to meet All your pets needs. Fantastic experience: Anna was absolutely fantastic. We felt really safe and confident our cat was getting the very best care. Thankfully, she was able to save our cats eye and vision. She gave us an amazing demonstration on applying the eye drops. We have other pets registered with St James who we are dissatisfied with and intend to transfer them over.

Negative experience: I have been with Gower vets for years. My female dog gave birth to 7 pups and ran off, I called the vet to ask advice, said "is it safe to allow her to feed as she may have eating something bad whilst she has been missing for a couple hours" We should have followed our instincts and not allowed her to, the vet said it was fine. Puppies and mum were all very ill, pups were shaking, sick and had diarrhoea. So dangerous given they are less than 7 weeks old and a few were touch and go. Four years ago I followed the vets advice and put my 8 year old Collie (and best friend) to sleep because he said she had bone cancer but now I feel a fool, he didn't do an X-ray and I took his word as God but I think given how young and healthy she seemed and the way it ripped my heart apart and now I have had this bad advice from my new dogs puppies. I'll never come back to Gower Vets. BEWARE. I am off to St James now, (they are also cheaper).

Negative experience: Unfortunately they do not accept new pets and does not work for us. Already waiting for months and no change. Really disappointed that they cannot scale the business and help our pet. Reason for a single star on the review. I can imagine service could be great but it doesn’t help if we cannot use it. Feel like we are differently treated just because we came later. Such a shame.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic vets. Have been back and fourth quite a bit recently due to my boxer Lexi's corneal ulcer that wouldn't heal. Ana is amazing, definitely highly recommended. Reception staff brilliant both at the desk and on the end of the phone. The practice is always busy, so a good sign in my opinion.

Fantastic experience: These vets are amazing! I had a little kitty with an umbilical hernia and two others, they booked one in straight away for the operation and neutering and I had the other two booked within 2 weeks of that, the staff are so lovely! One day I actually turned up at 8 instead of 8:30 by mistake and the staff didn't have to but took my kitties off me so I could leave and carry on with the day, they even do after care with the operations and call for images and updates, so not only are they really effective and lovely but the prices you can't beat anywhere else either! I feel really lucky to have been taken on by these vets, I would highly recommend them! 10 out of 10!

Fantastic experience: Easily the most caring team, not only was my cats life saved so was her leg, most vets (I feel) would of sent her over the rainbow bridge or at best amputated her leg. Very hard working and extremely professional. As much as I have huge respect I kind of hope I won't need their services anytime soon.

Fantastic experience: We went here in an emergency a few years ago, and stayed with them. Prices are reasonable compared to others, but really it's the care. OUR vet Heather is so lovely, compassionate and knowledgeable but everyone else we've been seen by is really lovely and professional too. I'd go for a pint with any of them and I reckon our pets would probably go home with them!

Fantastic experience: I had to have my beloved 13 year old German Shepherd put to sleep last week. I had been dreading the day. Jenny managed to make the whole process emotionally manageable for me. Fantastic experience: We recently consulted the practice, not having had necessity for couple of years to take our beloved young cat to see a Vet.... Naturally we were anxious (as was our 'feline child'!).. This was especially worrying as Covid dictated that he had to be taken in by Vet to be seen without us accompanying him. However, over the 2 occasions, a Vet & a Nurse came out to our car, checked his health problems&we knew, by their genuine caring&authentic smiles, our 'boy' was in safe hands!

Gower vets were able to accommodate me with a visit last week prior to a second jab appointment coming up. Although I wasn’t able to go in they reassured me with a lovely cheeky pic of my pup at the surgery and a little video showing a very waggy tail with plenty of fussing going on. Thank you so much

Fantastic experience: Unequivocally the best practice I've been to. Having missed an appointment (my rottweiler refused to cooperate) I was asked to obtain a urine sample which I dropped off the next day. Even though it was out of business hours I was pleasantly surprised that they accepted the sample, analysed whilst I waited and also examined Nigel (my dog), taking bloods and explaining with a clarity the findings of the blood sample. Fantastic bedside manner and extremely accommodating. Anna (vet) inspired much confidence and could see why other dog walkers had recommended this practice. Most grateful!
