Fantastic experience: Thistle Vet is amazing! I brought my chihuahua Peppa Pig, and they performed a dental surgery, cleaned everything, and the vet Kiran was incredible. The service was truly five-star and not money-oriented at all. I’ve been with West End Vet for over 10 years, and honestly, they are so money-oriented – a total waste of money. But Thistle Vet is amazing! Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Our cat Rye required emergency surgery last week and the team at Thistle Vets were swift, kind and incredibly accommodating with all of our questions and concerns. Michael performed the surgery and his kindness and attentiveness in Rye’s aftercare have been outstanding. He has given us huge peace of mind during a very stressful time and we are so grateful for the excellent care Rye has received.

Negative experience: From day one, Thistle vets care for my dog was second to none throughout various issues he encountered. Days after my dog had to get put down, I phoned asking for insurance information, although the receptionist named Wendy could not source this - her attitude over the phone was abhorrent, rude and the opposite of empathetic. This has totally tarnished my experience even though it was a well ran and professional practice.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to thistle vets for years now, ever since my first pet when I was a kid, I used to see Donald then moved on to James both great with my cats, Donald was so kind and caring when we had to make the decision to let Bella go and I can't thank him enough for that.

Positive experience: Good for annual check. When disease, I can not recommend, we had to bring the dog three times, pay 1000£ in total and they still had no idea on the reason why he was sick. They asked to bring back the dog again to do blood testing while we came the last time for the same process. A non sense

Negative experience: Great vets but NEVER NEVER on time. In the 6 years I have used them I can’t remember ever been taken on time. My time is as valuable as theirs but this seems to be lost on them with hollow “I am sorry” given. Don’t be sorry fix the clear issues you have. Route cause analysis would tell you 1. Too many appointments 2. Too few vets 3. Too few rooms Try under promising and over delivering….. You have a trapped captive audience who love the work you do for their loved pets….. respect please, not too much to ask…. Staff are so so nice it’s a shame the time keeping is so poor

Fantastic experience: First time cat owners here, who have been signed with Thistle Vets in Chesser for the last five months. They have taken care of our two kittens brilliantly! Everyone is extremely friendly, informative and patient. Every procedure has been clearly explained and gone as best as possible. We always feel super safe knowing our ragdolls have the best care, they’re happy and healthy, and they’re never afraid to go in for checks. Would recommend this practice to anyone!

Fantastic experience: I would like to thank Thistle Vets employees. My previous vet told me that my beautiful Puma don't have any infection in her ears, that it will be her charm from now but I knew something was not right, so my friend recommended Thistle Vets. I want to say Big THANK YOU to Mr. Michał who straight away said that Puma have severe yeast infection and that she's in pain. We started steroid and antibiotic treatment, you could see the difference in her behavior, her ears are cleaner. I've got a little lesson on cat ears anatomy & instructions how to apply ear drops to Puma's ears. I really appreciate that Mr. Michał wanted to see her after 3weeks to see the progress. It's better to see one person who knows what was happening at the beginning, not someone different every time.

Fantastic experience: Could not recommend this vets enough! If there was something above 5*s they would get it. Always welcoming and the team go above and beyond. Especially Gail, her care and compassion helped us navigate a difficult last few months with our little ratties. Would be back in future if we were to get any other pets.

Positive experience: I cannot express how incredible the people in this vet are. They always take such good care of my dog, completely understanding, and always make my dog feel at ease, which then of course makes me feel relaxed and comfortable leaving her in their care. I have been at this vet for years and would never go elsewhere. However, the last few times I've been in (or called up) i've found the lady with dark hair and glasses to be abrupt, slightly rude and a tad unprofessional, her manner hasn't been friendly (even whilst sat in reception ive noticed it with other customers too) and the couple of tiny issues I've had (possibly due to my error) she has dealt with them in an unfriendly manner. Which is a shame, As everyone else is so helpful on the reception desk.

Fantastic experience: From receptionists the vets themselves every person we met was so friendly, comforting and accommodating. Our cat had to be brought in for an emergency appointment which resulted in an operation which was very distressing. The team were extremely comforting and explained everything very clearly and ensured my cat had the best care. The team have been brilliant answering any questions we have in terms of aftercare and we are extremely grateful they saved our cat. Thank you so much!

Negative experience: It’s now come to this… Been with the practise for many years and with each visit it’s getting worse. They will take in pets they know nothing about, picture them for personal use and charge you for a consultation which is a google search print out. My cat was misdiagnosed so she’s never been back after visiting another practice but now with my dogs they don’t seem to have a clue. One of them has now received same treatment twice and no progression or clue on how to treat ongoing or long term, just do the same test over and over again and each time the bill is £250. Every time we go, we have a different vet, latest barely 18 (so it seemed). Providing false information and when called up to chase medication, they nothing about and say another visit seeds to be booked as they haven’t seen the dog, yet the dog was in 2 days before and vet advised will leave meds for collection but that wasn’t done. They don’t seem to be too bothered about the care, don’t have great knowledge to the point where a receptionist asked what a placenta is (after I had to make an emergency visit after birth). It’s all about cashing in money, no one seems to have a clue to the point where after visiting emergency vet due to one of the dogs spitting blood, I was advised that surgery is needed as there is a foreign object stuck in his tongue but the vet was actually too scared to touch the dog to examine properly (mine are not aggressive in any way and will allow any examination), she asked me to hold his mouth open while from a distance she had a look. The next day after antibiotics, I carried my own examination and came to realisation that my numpty had bitten a pig of his tongue off. Healed and no surgery was needed. We’re now on a lookout for a new practice for sure

Negative experience: We have used these vets for several years for our cats and were quite happy with them. Recently though, we took our cat for a check up due to her being sick and not eating. She was treated with anti sickness/hydration and other things, and were asked to bring her in the next day just for a temperature check. However, the other vet we saw did the same treatments as she had had 16 hours before, and we were charged again. I complained about this, as she had recovered from her sickness and temperature and hydration was fine. However, the manager took three months to get back to me, and rather than giving me some sort of apology and/or discount for a future visit, he preferred to deny any mistake had been done. I’ve removed my pets from this practice. There was no need for my cat to be treated again 16 hours later. Particularly when she was found to have been better the next day. They never give you a receipt either. Only tell you how much the bill is, which isn’t right.

Fantastic experience: I registered with Thistle Vets mid treatment for my dog’s eye ulcer and it was best decision I have made for my dog, Roxy! We had our first appointment with James who was great with Roxy and explaining things really well and was clear about what I need to look out for and what I need to do if it gets worse. Which unfortunately it did and that’s when Scott started treating Roxy’s eye ulcer and I honestly can’t find words to describe Scott’s level of care and professionalism! There is not many stories with happy endings when it comes to melting eye ulcer with infection for a senior dog, but thanks to Scott - we are cone-collar free after almost 2 months and getting back to our adventures! We even have some vision saved in the eye! I couldn’t be more thankful to Scott, James and most receptionists (except for one that on multiple occasions were rather rude, but I want this post to be positive so never mind her). I am most happy to recommend this Vet practice and can honestly say that my heart is at peace knowing that if something happens again then I have best vets there to help! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fantastic experience: Great vet clinic. Booster vaccination comes with a health check and general health consultation in a reasonable price. Vets always listen, explain and don't try to push for unnecessary treatments. Moreover, they have finally created cat waiting area. I'm moving out of Edinburgh and wish I could take Thistle Vets with me.

Fantastic experience: I've been with them for 13 years since a stray pregnant Queen walked into our lives by surprise. They've been great and caring, considerate, humane. Nothing but praise for their services!

Negative experience: My cat was neutered and days after the surgery a big lumb appeared on her stomach so I had to come back and pay again for a check when I discovered that they forgot the medication for her so that was the cause of the limb. They did not care about it and make me pay and come again for another check lol

Negative experience: We moved to Thistle vets after feeling like our last vet was in the business to make as much money as possible. Sadly feel like this is also happening at Thistle. Our dog had been very poorly and hadn’t eaten in a few days, it was over a weekend so phoned on the Monday to get an early appointment. First thing the vet said before even asking how our dog was, “he’s not been given his tick treatment”, we have never given our dogs tick treatment over winter as it’s not necessary and that was also confirmed by one of your vets. Then the vet proceeded to feel his tummy which was obviously very uncomfortable for him, she jumped back and seemed very unsure of our dog which didn’t seem very professional. Our dog was kept in and we were told the cost would be £450, if that amount changed she said she would call, no call but amount was £580 when I went to pick him up, I did question it but nobody seemed to know why the price had changed. Second day there wasn’t much change so they kept him in again, when i picked him up they seemed quite confident there was an improvement, which there definitely was as he was back to eating and drinking, however I don’t believe they’d let my dog out for the toilet as he ran to the grass and did the longest pee ever, then again another twice, he must have been very uncomfortable to have been so desperate. 3rd day I took him back for a check up and despite him being back to normal the vet wanted to keep him in again, I believe that was all about money and not thinking what was best for the animal, why would you stress him out by putting him on a drip for another day when he was eating and drinking, surely the best thing for our dog was to be at home. I do question how much of his treatment was necessary, our previous dog had pancreatitis a few times and was only given blood tests and antibiotics.

Negative experience: They looked after my dog for over a year, since I broght her home when she was 9 weeks old. I bought a pet plan and attended all health check ups. The appointments were rather hasty but I was rather happy with them until I moved and saw another vet. It turns out my dog is missing 6 (!) teeth that haven't grown. Nobody hasn't mentioned that to me. It turns out it's not something common. My dog had an xray today which showed one tooth was stuck in the gum and had to be removed.

Fantastic experience: Our first visit tonight with our new re-homed spaniel. Excellent service all round. Receptionist who got us registered in advance and the vet (Chloe) both very informative and helpful.

Fantastic experience: Both Scott and James are brilliant vets - incredibly patient and caring every time our little French Bulldog needs treatment (which seems to be often!) Would highly recommend.

Negative experience: I wish I could give 0 stars towards what i witnessed. Receptionist spreading misinformation when she does not have a veterinary degree. Witnessed her being verbally abusive. Total disregard for the pet and the owner of the pet, if I recall from overhearing the receptionists name was Susan. They then proceeded to spread rumours around when the owner of the pet was away, trying to get their pet back. I heard from the owner that the vet then became rude due to the spreading of rumours. I won’t be coming here with my own pet again unless this behaviour is resolved and I will be giving this information to people I know who go here.

Negative experience: An awful experience. I was told on the phone when booking that to get a pet certificate it would cost £110 including a de-worming, which would have been £15 less than last year when I got the same certificate and de-wormer with the additional rabies vacine. I went into the vet and he said the pet certificate would cost £90! I then went to pay and the receptionist said it would be £160! I stated that the vet just said it was £90 and she "went to check with him" and apparently he was trying to claim he had said that "that was last year's price" (according to the receptionist). I have been mislead and they illegally falsely advertised the wrong price. I was then lied to. They claimed the price went up, no one told me at any point and none of that takes away from the fact that the vet James lied. Additionally and shockingly they said I got the members price of £160 as if I was not a member of the vets it would cost £300. Potentially £300, for a piece of paper that will probably "never even be checked" according to vet James. I was going to get my dog nurtured here but I will never returrn to this mismanaged disaster of an organisation. Also James typed the wrong age for my dog on the certificate, marking it as a year younger than the actual age. Such incompetence.

If you have to wait a little bit longer for your appointment then think that they will give your fur baby time to acknowledge what care they need and help you to find answers you are looking for. Negative experience: Always late. I’ve never had an appointment on time at either of these vets practices. We paid to have a vet check to see if our dog was pregnant, the vet couldn’t tell us if she was pregnant or not. She gave birth a week later.
