Fantastic experience: The whole team at Minster Vets are outstanding. Our dog had an accident while we were abroad, ending in a broken leg. From the genuine support and communication of our care and treatment options to photographs while she was an in-patient through to the aftercare appointments and ongoing advice I can’t recommend them enough.

Fantastic experience: I have been a customer of Minster vets for 18 years, and always find the staff and vets very friendly. Salisbury Road has a nice open reception area with a dedicated space for cats. I would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: We are always greeted with a smile by the reception staff who take the time to befriend my dachshund, with a treat. The vet I saw was very professional, answering all of my questions and worked with compassion and care when administering his injections and trimming his nails. I would highly recommend this practice especially if you have a nervous pet.

Fantastic experience: I took my dog along for his annual vaccinations and the vet we saw was so lovely with him (as they always are). He’s normally a nightmare getting his kennel cough done but the vet was so quick he didn’t even notice! I also received practical advice on cleaning his teeth, and got his dew claws trimmed which I cannot do myself because he hates it. I’ve been told the staff sing to him to distract him which seems to work a treat! Thank you very much for looking after us, would recommend this practice!

Fantastic experience: Minster vets are the best practice I’ve ever been to. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and treatment options are discussed with you so you can decide what’s best for your pet. I have a rabbit, and they are very rabbit-savvy. The practice is connected to an exotic vet’s that they will consult with if something is particularly weird.

Fantastic experience: We unfortunately had to say goodbye to our almost 18 year old cat today, and after losing trust in our previous vet (Stead) we knew that we needed to find a lovely vet to help her come to a peaceful end I'm not sure of the name of the vet that helped us today, but we are forever greatful that you helped Sviza when she was suffering, can't thank you enough for being so lovely at this difficult time, and we now know she's not in any pain anymore ❤️

Fantastic experience: Excellent vet practice. I’ve been using them for 10 years and find them to be knowledgeable, caring, and expert in my dog’s needs. I also once dropped off an injured cat (a car in the ring road had hit her and couldn’t stop, but the next car did and I was coming from the opposite direction and we were able to pick her up and bring her in). It was very distressing and I was impressed with how sympathetically and professionally they handled that and checked the microchip and contacted the owner etc.

Fantastic experience: I have been with Minster vets for years, and would go nowhere else. I recommen to everyone and have have a couple of friends who have joined and agree with me. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. Truly love the animals, you can clearly see and feel their empathy if the pets arent well. Even the out of hours vets have given advice to try first, instead of having to pay massive bills by taking my pet in straight away. I cannot rate them highly enough. Well done Minster for doing such a great job, keep up the fantastic work you do.

Fantastic experience: I can’t recommend Minster enough, they helped us at almost 10 pm one night when our elderly girl Stella collapsed and could no longer use her back legs, we felt we were helped and put at ease in the process of having her put to sleep in the comfort of the back of our car. Fantastic experience: I have been a client of Minster Vets for nearly 30 years and they have always look ed after my dogs with great care, attention and empathy. Last week, I had the unenviable task of taking my ageing dog for the. last time. I went there uncertain of the outcome but with a high degree of probability that I'd be coming home alone. Kim was my vet on the day and she helped me through a difficult decision and made it bearable for me. its not the first time I've done this, and it never gets easier but it's always nice to know that they genuinely care about our pets and us as loving pet owners. Thank you Kim, and also for your thoughtful follow-up.

Fantastic experience: My dog got taken to Minster Emergency Vets in July due to a migrated grass seed, he was extremely poorly and had a large burst abscess, they operated twice and he stayed in for 4 nights, he then had daily trips to minster for his dressing to be changed. A couple of weeks later the same happened again and they operated and removed another couple more bits of grass seed (7 bits in total). 3 months later he has finally been discharged, we have since moved him to stay with Minster vets permanently as the care they have provided over the last 3 months has been amazing. Every staff member from the vets to nurses to reception staff to dispensary have all been so so lovely, and nothing was ever a problem to them, they sent regular updates and photos when our dog stayed there and I honestly cannot fault them. A huge shout out to the main vet (Tristan) who cared for my dog after he was in such a bad way back in July. He did such a good job managing Barneys very large wound for such a long time until it healed and I cannot thank him and the rest of the team enough for looking after Barney so well & providing the very best care! I would highly recommend Minster Vets Sailsbury Road to anyone looking for a vet!

Fantastic experience: A pleasure to visit Minster Vets. Staff are always so courteous, warm & friendly. In over 35yrs never any cause for concern or complaint, receiving only 1st Class care; possibly not the cheapest, but by far the best. A joy to visit but maybe that's not always so for my 4 legged friend!

Fantastic experience: Genuinely the nicest place I could of taken my cat when she passed, she was due to be put to sleep and deteriorated to the point where we had to bring her in but she had already gone in my arms on way, the lady vet was calm and kind throughout I feel bad for not getting her name but she did an impression kit on are cat and wrapped her up nicely for me, wasn’t charged for the impression kit and for her to confirm that she was gone, little things like that take away worry in an already stressful sad time and I can’t thank the vet enough for what they did.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant service overall! Best vets I’ve dealt with. Our pet had to be put down due to illness, their compassion was a breath of fresh air in the sadness. I feel as if they treated the situation & our pet with the upmost respect. The after life memento of paws set in clay and hair in a little bottle was really touching. We evan got a sympathy card which was just lovely which mad my day. Will definitely use these vets again if needed.

Fantastic experience: Tristan dealt with a Spaniel ear infection this morning. Total legend. It was not a happy dog (and he made his feelings very clear) but Tristan was smiley, friendly, professional and courteous throughout. Fantastic experience: I used Minster Vets emergency out of hours after my puppy ate something he shouldn't have. They took great care to make him feel safe and happy, he actually had a wonderful time at his trip whilst I was full of nerves. They took the time to listen to me and never made me feel at fault for him eating what he shouldn't have, and also took the time to explain the insurance process to me. Fantastic experience: We recently had to have our 13 year old miniature schnauzer put to sleep. We were actually on holiday in York and the end came very quickly for him. Michelle and Meg at Minster vets were absolutely outstanding. Explaining every step of the process, fitting us in that morning and just really treating us and our mini with incredible care and compassion. I cannot recommend highly enough this vets. We feel so blessed to have been able to take him there for his final moments.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely brillant, I had never been to this vets before and I recently moved back to my hometown, one night, my eldest cat (out of 6!) had a nasty fall, I searched for the nearest out of hours vet’s I am so glad my first attempt was with minster vet’s, I was in absolute tears thinking my cat was going to get put down, she had lost all ability to stand on her own. I can not for the life of me remember the name of the kind male who consulted Melody (my cat) but he was understanding and reassured me that she would recover over time. Although the out of hours prices is higher than the ordinary ‘normal hours’ I could never complain about an high amount especially when it comes to giving my cats the best care they deserve! Fantastic experience: Brilliant emergency service. I woke up very early this morning to my cat breathing strangely and being quite lethargic. My normal vet isn't open yet so I rang the emergency line. The man on the other end (I'm sorry, I didn't catch his name) was absolutely fantastic, and talked me through taking a video to send over. Once he had seen the video he called back almost immediately with further advice. I'm leaving this review because I was in such a flap this morning that I didn't thank him properly, so THANK YOU for all your help.

Fantastic experience: From calling, to brining in our cat, and having to have her put to sleep, Minster vets were exemplary. We were ushered into a consulting room as soon as we arrived and given private time with our cat Lulu to say goodbye. The process although heartbreaking could not have been more gentle comfortable, and considerate for Lulu and us. She left us peacefully. Minster vets had treated Lulu for 15 years; and when we feel up to having another pet they will look after that one too. Thank you. Must also mention the hand written sympathy card that arrived a few days later from the surgery. What a lovely gesture.

Fantastic experience: We recently had to have our very old 20 year old cat put to sleep. Minster Vets were nothing but absolutely brilliant. They listened to what we had to say gave us the time to say goodbye and made a very horrible process bearable. Jinx will be missed by all. The icing on the cake(if there can be) is i asked for some fur to remember her by. I today collected the most beautiful memory. A paw print of Jinx in clay and a glass bottle filled with her fur. Again thank you to all the staff there. You are awesome. Jinx was well looked after and for that we are truly grateful.

Fantastic experience: I moved to Minster vets earlier this year, after it was recommended by a neighbour. I took my dog Gilbert in to have his teeth done a few weeks back. Gilbert didn’t do well after a couple of removals and his face swelled up, but I was very impressed with the out of hours service we were given, the follow up appointments and care and the fact that all the staff who saw us at each point knew Gilbert and were genuinely concerned for him. I am also pleased with how friendly the reception staff are too. Currently happy to report that Gilbert is now back to full health again and I’m sure if he could say it himself, he would also thank you

Negative experience: I'm seriously disappointed. We've been continuously taking our senior dog to Minster to try and get to the bottom of his problems, and we never got anywhere and was told "well he's just an old dog". We already knew he had a heart problem, but something else has been wrong with him for a while now. We've had him seen MULTIPLE times and been charged through the nose each time... We took him to a new vet today and she diagnosed his problem immediately: high blood pressure. Why was something to simple missed multiple times by multiple vets? He's had multiple blood tests and an ultrasound, but they never did the most basic test for his health which is blood pressure. The vets at minster have wasted our time and money, forced our dog to go through several examinations that terrifying and upset him, and left him with a health condition that is easy to detect but could kill him. This isn't the first time we've felt let down by this practice - we had concerns with the treatment of our first dog several years ago too. I wish we'd left sooner.

Fantastic experience: We took our border here for a second opinion and I can honestly say they have been amazing. Max at the haxby surgery was great and he referred us to Anya at the main surgery who performed an ultrasound on his heart. She was incredible, never rushed us, explained everything to us and is following us up, thank you for your kindness.

Fantastic experience: By far the best vets I’ve been to, I came in out of hours with my guinea pig who had been suffering with suspected heart disease and it was decided the kindest thing to do was to put him to sleep. Sarah the vet was really lovely and helpful and even sent me a card in the post and the reception staff were all lovely too

Fantastic experience: Cannot rate highly enough. We have two cats and one of them we have had to take to the vets twice. On the most recent visit I called on a Sunday because I was concerned about whether the issue was urgent. The receptionist put my mind at ease and booked me an appointment for the next day (after helpfully confirming what warning signs to look out for). My husband took her to the vet and I was expecting to be out hundreds of pounds for an unnecessary or excessively expensive treatments as had been my experience at some other vets. But the vet spoke to my husband and explained what our cat had and gave us practical straightforward advice and the charges were very reasonable! Will definitely never be changing vets again and genuinely cannot recommend them highly enough. Incredibly helpful, responsive, and very clearly good at what they do. Many thanks!

Negative experience: Having had 2 bad experiences with this practice, including one where a young vet failed to properly euthanise my elderly blind dog we have moved to a well established trusted vet nearby and thankfully been able to secure the correct treatment for our dog. When I moved into the village I was warned that Minster Vets are only interested in the money and sadly this seems to be the case.

The lady rang us late on a Saturday night after hours to give us the devastating news, this for me was compassion and kindness. The vet herself was warm and patient, helping my son through such a difficult moment with care and understanding. Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Minster Veterinary Practice - all of my pets have been registered here and all have received excellent care. Our most recent visit was for my kittens to be spayed - I can't say they enjoyed it, but I very much enjoyed the leopard print onesies they returned home in. Appointments are always available when you need them and the team on reception are just lovely.

Fantastic experience: Just had our cat health checked, spayed, microchipped and her boosters done here. Were new cat owners, so still getting out heads around everything! I’ve rung a few times to double check times and other details and the receptionists on the phone, and in person, have always been wonderful. The vets that we saw have been just as lovely. Her spay was done quickly, and I was phoned immediately to let me know she was done. We requested a body suit instead of a cone and that was provided, and she’s had 2 follow up appoints to check on her from then. Can’t thank the staff enough for all of their help, and we’ll continue to use them!

Fantastic experience: Thank you for this lovely vet practice for helping us when we found an injured bird today. We had taken it to Pets At Home vets and they refused to help us. We phoned Minster Vets and straight away they said to bring it down and we will do what we can. they saw the poor things straight away And and helped it and even thanked us for taking it there. Fantastic experience: Every time I visit Minster vets sailsbury rd, always greeted by Happy receptionist, and all the vet nurses and vets, make you feel your dog is special, they are thorough when examining your pet, and get your dog back on their feet, my dog loves going for all the attention and treats she gets when she goes for her wormer.

Fantastic experience: I've always found the staff at Minster Vets to be polite, friendly and supportive, showing a genuine concern for, and interest in the wellbeing of our pets. Communication is very good and treatment options are explained clearly.

Negative experience: You would think that a vets would be more about compassion than money. While the vets themselves are fantastic and very helpfull the mafia that sits on the front desks leave a lot to be desired . Mainly the 2 books ends that sit at either end of the desk. Our dog has been to this vets over the past 2 years while she has been in york. She is insured and every bill has been settled the minute the claim had been handled by animal friends. In total I'd say were in the region of thousands of pounds. Many thousands. Yesterday our dog had a scan. We was called to be told she had bowel cancer and wouldn't be around in the near future. We went to collect her and the lady at the desk jumped up raising her voice saying " the full balance needs to be paid now you haven't sorted your insurance out. Excuse me.!! Of course the claim hasn't been done yet. We only just brought her in. She then made big song and dance about this payment. Again let me remind you thousands have been paid to this practice. Always on time soon as the claim had been made. They also charge you 20 pound administration fee for a claim but don't actually do anything for that 20 pound. I have come home today to see an email that has very inflammatory language from this reception. This practice needs to work out what's it's vision is. Of course bills need to be settled. But is this a money making business 1st or a place for animal welfare. It's not even been 24 hours since we collected. Also nothing in the email asking how she is feeling after her meds. Just right onto demanding money. These 2 should go work for the BBC collecting license fees.

Fantastic experience: The Minster vets saved my cat life. Doctors acted super super fast, sent me two photos of X ray and explained everything, it was nice heart warming emails, they rang me twice a day morning and night time how my cat was doing. The reception ladies are all so friendly and calm and beautiful environment at the building. Doctor save me one of stone from his bladder, there was 3. I asked I want to see what it looks like as never seen it before. My cat didn't need to suffer for two months only if he could get right direction in early stage at OTHER vets. But the Minster sorted within a same day they gave me all truth I wanted to know. I am so pleased all sorted in right hands and lovely people. Reception lady even carried my cat cage to the taxi in the raining. This place I always wanted for six years. Finally I found right place. Five star service with heart warming care and services. I appreciate to the Minster vets very much. Thank you so much.

Fantastic experience: I saw Eve the Vet today with Lottie my 6 1/2yr old Lhasa Apso for her yearly vaccination and health check. Eve is an amazing vet and both my dogs would agree. I have seen Eve on a few other occasions with my other Lhasa Also Alfie who sadly went across the rainbow bridge in March with both myself and Eve by his side. The outstanding level of care, compassion and kindness Eve has shown to both myself and my dogs is another level. I have used Minster Vets for the last 36 yrs (I know that names been changed in that time) I was 4 when we got our first dog and we have used this vets ever since with zero complaints. Always excellent

They now look after my new dog would not go anywhere else

Negative experience: Please SORT by "Newest". Be Careful if you are a man coming here with your pet. Some might say that there is an air of Misandry. Of course, if you are Doris (passed) with a blue-rinse and a Yorkie I am sure they are pleasant to you. If my mother (passed) were to go in to make a complaint, I am sure that they would not threaten to call the police. Even though you have a monthly subscription, the same as everyone else. Some might say that the Practice Manager needs to receive additional training on how to handle a simple task. i recommend that you, the reader, find an alternative practice. Some might say that this location has really gone downhill due to poor management..... it all starts from the top. Toxic, Rude, Arrogant Environment.

Negative experience: This is the first review I have ever written, but couldn’t share my experience. I had the unfortunate experience of having to attend an emergency appointment with minster vets late at night. Whilst I understand it was late I found the service and care me and my pet received was extremely poor. Firstly I was left waiting at the entrance ringing the door bell for no one to answer only after I started banging on the door did someone come. Afterwards I was left waiting for over an hour to be seen with not a word from any staff, i had no communication with the vet or nurse and only by happen chance when a nurse passed through did I manage to get some water for my dog who had been panting and was in clear discomfort. Once I was eventually seen the vet asked me to wait outside the room whilst some tests were done and did my explain anything fully. He gave me a brief overview about what had happened and despite me raising concerns said I should come back the following day to have her checked again. The following day I returned and explained my frustration to a second vet as to how I was treated who again was dismissive and talked down to me and criticised me for standing up for myself and the care my dog received. The original vet identified the issue with my dog on the first night but never gave me a prescription for for antibiotics so I was forced on the second day to pay for an additional consultation appointment just to get the prescription. After this dealing I have now changed my vets so I do not have to deal with minster again absolutely horrendous behaviour and I would avoid at all costs in the future.

Negative experience: These vets killed my dog 5 years ago the vet acually admitted his mistake but managerial as usual covers up even saying that they had done certain treatments free of charge since when

Fantastic experience: A million stars to the fantastic team in this practice. They were so lovely, they comforted me when I was visibly upset (read: crying my eyes out), we always got an appointment within hours of speaking to the team, very caring and flexible when we wanted to go visit our poorly cat who was staying overnight. I couldn't think of a better service. I will always recommend. ❤️❤️❤️

Fantastic experience: Having used these vets for many years, they have never let me or my animals down. All staff are friendly, kind, patient and understanding. I recently needed them for an emergency. My cat was seen within 45min of the call. Prompt caring and knowledgeable. My cat would not have survived without the skill and attention from all the staff. I cannot praise highly enough

Negative experience: I cannot fault the vets at this practice and the receptionists have always been wonderful, until tonight. I took my French Bulldog in, because he has allergies which is common with this breed of dog, and for his monthly flea/worm/tick treatment. Within seconds of sitting down in the waiting room, my dog had a very loose bowel movement, which clearly needed to be cleaned up, followed by another. The blonde haired receptionist took it upon herself to say loudly "That’s not good, that doesn’t look normal, he’s not well, is that why he’s here…he’s got a very red ear too”. She was like a broken record and repeated herself several times. The only words I could get in were "He has allergies, which is why I’m here”. That receptionist was doing her best to make me look and feel like a terrible pet owner, she humiliated me in front of the other owners in the waiting room, and was judging me, without knowing anything about me or my dog. Little does she know, I’ve probably spent more than she earns in a year, trying to get to the bottom of what my dog is allergic to, and his skin is the best it’s ever been. Her comments were not needed, nor were they professional. I have to return there tomorrow, to collect the medication that wasn’t available today, along with my dogs flea/worn/tick treatment that said receptionist failed to give me tonight. I’ve been with this vets for years, and never expected to be treated so disgustingly by a receptionist.

Fantastic experience: Just wanted to say thank you to all the staff who were on shift today who took the time to get my an appointment for my poorly hamster. I was visibly upset but the staff really took care of me. Thank you for looking after her in her final hour♥️

Fantastic experience: Due to our ‘energetic’ Sprocker, we feel quite the regulars at Salisbury! However, we have always felt that there is lovely staff on the phones and front desk. All of the Vets are very friendly, incredibly knowledgeable and reassuring. No matter how concerned we have felt, they have always put us and our dog at ease. We never struggle to get an appointment via phone and they are also very responsive on email. Salisbury is always clean and airy. The only slight challenge at that location can be car parking if it is busy. Thank you for always being there for us. Great service.

Fantastic experience: I changed to this practice (Crockey Hill/Salisbury Rd) recently, as I had lost faith in my old vets. I needed an urgent operation on Belle my rat and struggled to find somewhere to treat her, and at a fair rate. During her 1st consultation with Eve the vet, I knew she was in the best hands! Eve and the team have gone above and beyond to help Belle. I have observed the staff at Crockey Hill and Salisbury Road at it is perfectly clear to me that all the team are not just vets etc, but true animal lovers. They will do whatever they can to help your pet to heal, and will keep costs as low as they can… which is a rare in this field of practice. I’m so glad I have changed vets, I know my 2 rats and 2 dogs are in the best hands possible. Thanks Eve and the team xx
