Jessica and the reception staff were absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Jessica was incredibly patient and took such great care with Baloo, who is usually terrified of visiting the vets. She really listened to my concerns, took them seriously, and handled him so gently and calmly that it made a world of difference. The reception team were just as kind and welcoming, which helped put us both at ease straight away. It’s clear that everyone there genuinely cares about the animals they look after. Fantastic experience: I cannot thank E C Straitons & Partners for all the care shown to our beautiful Baba Archie from our very first visit as a pup to now on his two year check, unfortunately we had a few visits in-between due to illness and injury. To take your dog and being reassured as soon as your seen, starting with the amazing first point of call the phone call to an appointment seeing the vet and the aftercare, also as a very panicked owner feeling distraught and made comfortable. What an excellent service you provide across the whole of the Practice. Your all amazing. Thank you.

Positive experience: We've taken all our dogs to Penkridge for a few years now. The vets are super friendly & informative. The front desk are also helpful & friendly. There can sometimes be a long wait, obviously they arent always going to have a quick appointment before you. And this is where there quality time & professionalism shows for each client. We see the nurses too, who again are all lovely & show genuine interest in your pet. Our only downside, the fees are not always consistent. We get medication can go up, prior communication would be nice. And sometimes we are charged consultation fees for regular appointments & sometimes we arent. It needs to be consistent because you end up questioning your invoice. On the whole, I always recommend

Fantastic experience: Our dog (Roo, Hungarian wire-haired Vizsla) had peritonitis and ileus. Prior surgery a few days had re-sectioned the small intestine, but there was necrosed tissue either side of the re-section (an accepted risk of the surgery). Ollie conducted a lengthy surgery of jejunal resection and end to end anastomosis. This was a complex and delicate surgery. Afterwards Roo is such an anxious dog that inpatient care was not viable. Ollie talked us through nursing Roo at home, was on hand whenever we needed advice, arranged a vet partner to come and visit two nights in a row (amazing dedication), prescribed creatively to support and manage Roo, and when we didn't think Roo would make it Ollie counselled and steadied us. A more complete, supportive, competent and skilled service we could not have found. Amazing. Roo is a very anxious dog, and by any standard impossible to manage in an inpatient setting after surgery. He can't be crated as he'll destroy the crate and himself. Ollie was able to support nurses with the management of Roo immediately post-surgery, cultivate a relationship with Roo, and was able to manage Roo in an open clinic for aftercare, which is an achievement in itself.

Fantastic experience: I moved to Straitons when our previous vets were taken over by a big company and no longer provided 24 hour care themselves, also the staff kept being sent to different branches so there was no continuity of care. I have found Straitons great because whilst I now ask for a vet by name, and so have continuity of care, if my preferred vet is not available there are other vets there to provide any treatment required. Straitons can do most blood tests on site so results are speedy. When I needed advice out of hours, a veterinary nurse gave me advice over the phone which saved a night time trip and the cost of calling out a vet. Great service.

Fantastic experience: Really pleased we’ve joined this practice after having moved house. They contacted our old vets to arrange transfer of records and we had an appointment quickly and at a convenient time for dogs vaccinations. Good sized waiting room with chairs at a nice distance for nervous and bigger dogs. We were seen promptly by the vet who was kind and efficient. Good prices too. Car park seemed quite full but there were spaces and separate reception rooms meant we were with 2 dogs max in our short wait before the appointment.

Fantastic experience: I lost my gorgeous old man bear Cocker Spaniel Milo last Thursday the vets have been brilliant a caring kind & allround brilliant vets throughout my dogs end of life illness right through to the end of a painful goodbye 10/10

With all the pets particularly cats with us we have always felt like they are on good hands and receiving relevant care. Along with that all of the staff we have met have all been very pleasant from reception to surgery.

Positive experience: We have been attending this practice with all our pets for many years,(dogs and cats) and have been very satisfied with our pets' care until recently. The practice is now owned by Medivet: prices have rocketed and the vet service has changed. We have now left the practice. The service by receptionists and nurses is still spectacular. Very disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Brought my little dog for his annual vaccination. No waiting time hardly. Receptionist very friendly and helpful. Vet carried out very thorough checks. Very charming. Great experience generally for both dog and owner.

Negative experience: Vetinary nurse traumatised my wife's Staffy this afternoon. Injected her in 4 different parts of her body before she got the booster vaccine in. Ruby was squealing in pain. A few weeks ago Lewis gave the first part of the vaccination once, no pain, no squealing. Ruby probably won't want to visit again due to this bad experience.

Fantastic experience: Best vet practice I have ever been to. The vets are so knowledgeable & thorough in what they do, and the receptionists & vet nurses are so friendly & empathetic. I especially love the cat clinic they offer on certain days, which is a period where you can take cats in with no dogs present in the practice. I don’t make use of this as my cats are fine with other dogs in the clinic, but I imagine this must be so beneficial to those cats who are more anxious or traumatised by dogs. I’m originally from Cannock & my family always used E C Straiton for their dogs. When I moved to Penkridge 2 years ago, I registered my cat with this practice & they’ve always been wonderful. I now have 4 cats in total (this wasn’t planned but here we are! ) When I found & rescued a stray kitten 10 days ago (now called Obi), I brought him straight into E C Straiton for a check up, and flea & worming treatment. He had a few fleas on him (which panicked me slightly as the last thing I want is my other 3 catching them & a flea infestation in my home!). I bathed him as soon as I got home, dried him, & immediately gave him the treatments. Well I bathed & combed Obi last night, finding dead fleas & remaining flea dirt (proof that the flea treatment from the vets is highly effective!). My other 3 cats are treated for fleas & worms every 3 months too, despite them being indoor cats. To my surprise after combing them all, every cat is flea free!! Even the cat who is due his flea/worm treatment again today & who has been around Obi the most! Which is amazing as it really does show how good the flea treatment is from E C Straiton & that it does last for the full 3 months! It’s made me feel at ease knowing I’m paying a bit extra to ensure they’re all safe (rather than the cheap rubbish you can buy from stores). I’ve also taken Obi back to E C Straiton 2 more times in the last week, after he developed a nasty ulcer on his mouth. The lovely vets, Ollie & Ed, were incredible. So knowledgeable, so thorough, not in any rush to get through the appointment for their next one. Obi is now on pain relief, antibiotics & antiviral medication. I also love that they offer their own emergency vet care during out of hours, & that they allow me to email photos across to reception, & take the time to listen & advise me over the phone whenever I have concerns. Unlike some other vets, they don’t immediately urge me to bring the cats in. Their treatment prices may be slightly higher than some other practices, but they won’t unnecessarily encourage you to come in for a consultation or prescribe any medication if they genuinely don’t feel it’s needed. This massively stands them out from other vet practices because you can see that they honestly care about their customers, financial barriers that can come with pet care, & the pets they tend to. Lastly, I’m SO excited to hear that they’ll be working with the pet health club soon!! Overall, this is the best vet practice & I would recommend them to anyone. The staff are all amazing, & I sincerely thank you for delivering such high quality care to my fur babies. ❤️

Negative experience: I rang today to see if i could get a dose of wormer for my dog, however the receptionist Susan was extremely rude and extremely unhelpful, she did not ask me what kind of wormer i wanted (not all have to be prescription) unfortunately now i will be registering with another vet

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to Straiton's since 1969 and would never go anywhere else our current cat Missy has had the best treatment from Ed who dealt with her patella luxation in 2020 and when we first got her from a rescue she had skin problems which Craig persevered with and managed to stop the itching. The staff are friendly and helpful and all of the vets we have seen over the years have been kind and care about our pets as much as we do.

They always listen carefully to my concerns and ensure that my dogs are treated appropriately explaining what they will do if the initial treatment doesn't work. Highly recommended!!

Fantastic experience: Finding a vet who truly understands rabbits can be challenging, but we've been with E C Straiton & Partners for a fair few years now. When our rabbit, Tilly, wasn't feeling well recently, the staff on reception were incredibly empathetic and reassuring. Vets, Katie and Ollie demonstrated exceptional expertise in rabbit care, quickly diagnosing the issue and providing a clear treatment plan and check up. She also received her vaccination with no fuss. We really appreciate their gentle approach and dedication to exotic animal welfare. We now have a happy and healthy bunny once again. Highly recommend for top-notch rabbit care!

She received the best treatment by the most dedicated vets and as an inpatient she was cared for by nurses who went the extra mile. Fantastic experience: We are travelling on our narrowboat and our dog, Alfie, became unwell whilst visiting Penkridge. I contacted the practice who registered Alfie, liaised with my own vet and promptly saw him at 11.15am the same day. Fantastic response. Alfie received a full examination by a lovely vet and was prescribed medication. The cost for the emergency appointment and treatment was £85, amazing. From initial contact with reception to meeting the vet was very efficient. Everyone was very pleasant and couldn't do enough for us. Wished we lived nearer they would definitely be the practice of our course, can't thank you all enough and Alfie is back to his bouncy self this morning. Thank Gill, Kev and Alfie x

The vet was extremely kind and gentle with Joey and he also clipped the claws on my older springer, plus he weighed her for me. We received an excellent service and the vet is always extremely professional and respectful. I would highly recommend this vets in Penkridge ⭐️

Negative experience: I had been with straitons for over 15 years thought they were good until recently I have 3 cats 2 are bengals one of them deaf therefore she meows extremely loud and being a bengal very vocal however a vet said to me that all bengals are vicious and bite further more I needed my deaf bengals medical records when I saw them I was fuming they labelled her has aggressive and you couldn't get near her although I repeatedly told them she is loud because she is deaf but not aggressive they never acknowledged it or put it on her records which nearly cist me a very expensive bill because the insurance company thought she was aggressive and wouldn't pay it hours if explaining to them another is reception I called to ask for my cats medical records to be forwarded to my new vets or sent to pet plan because thery needed the records the receptionist was very abrupt then when I said thank you for moving the records she put the phone down on mewhat an awful vet this is how you treat your long service clients and this is the reason I moved
