Our comment from InfoVet about Vets Now Aberdeen:
Vets Now Aberdeen provides a vital 24/7 emergency veterinary service, offering peace of mind to pet owners when their animals need urgent care outside of regular clinic hours. Many clients highlight the professionalism, compassion, and expertise of the veterinary team, noting that staff are often friendly, empathetic, and effective at putting worried owners at ease. The service is praised for its quick triage, thorough examinations, and clear communication regarding treatment plans and progress, with many pets receiving successful emergency interventions and returning home to recover.
While the clinical care and staff demeanor are frequently commended, it is important to note that the cost of out-of-hours consultations and treatments is significantly higher than standard daytime veterinary visits. Some clients have expressed concern regarding the high fees, particularly when diagnoses require further investigation by a regular vet or when waiting times are extended during busy periods. Despite these financial considerations, the availability of immediate, specialized emergency care remains a crucial asset for the community, ensuring that pets receive timely attention during critical situations.

Vets Now Aberdeen: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Had to take dog to out of hours vet at the weekend, great service from initial phone call to seeing the vet and getting treatment
Hi Sandra, thanks so much for your positive feedback. We really appreciate it. It’s a pleasure to have helped you and your pet. Have a great day.
Negative experience: I attended Vets Now in Aberdeen with my 3-Year-Old French Bulldog Barney. He had sneezed and yelped in pain. At this point he was unable to bare weight on any of his limbs, his breathing was short and sharp and he was extremely panicked. I contacted our regular Vets and was transferred through to Vets Now at around 03:30 in the morning. I was asked about his symptoms and was told to take him through straight away. We took him through to Vets Now in Aberdeen, explained the symptoms, explained that his right front leg wasn’t functioning properly, it was very stiff and he was unable to move it. I felt that this was dismissed. The vet immediately said that she thinks that he’d had a seizure and told us there was nothing they could do and it was just a case of monitoring him and if he has another episode or seizure we are to get in touch. When we arrived home, he was very limp unable to move very much. We believed this was just aftermath of the seizure until 10 minutes after we arrived at home (05:40 in the morning), he let out a very loud scream in pain. I immediately called Vets now and explained what happened and was told to wait until our regular vet was open at 08:00 as he has had another seizure and will require medication. It has since been discovered that Barney has suffered a ruptured disc in his neck and required emergency surgery. Barney was completely paralysed by 08:00 from the neck down and could move no limbs, couldn’t move his neck. He has since had an emergency surgery and is in recovery now. I will not be recommending Vets Now. I feel like we were completely dismissed and received extremely poor support from the practice. I don’t think that they conducted their due diligence properly. We paid £347 for this service, which I am in firm belief if further care was taken then we could’ve had a CT scan conducted on Barney earlier and reduced the impact on length of recovery and impact on success of recovery. It’s fine charging extortionate money if your conducting thorough examinations and actually helping but this was just atrocious.
Hi Jordan, thanks for sharing your experience at Vets Now Aberdeen pet emergency service. What you’ve described sounds very unusual and we’d really like the opportunity to look into this further for you. Fantastic experience: My dog was just seen by the vet nurse, Rebecca. Her manner was naturually friendly and informative and she spoke about the issue our dog was facing with ease. In a situation where you are worried about your pet, she made us feel listened to and seemed to genuinely care about her job. Her colleague was also very friendly but we unfortunately did not catch her name. Thank you both for your help and advice.
Hi Jade, thanks so much for your positive feedback. We really appreciate it. It’s a pleasure to have helped you and your pet. Have a great day.
Fantastic experience: Excellent attention, put my mind at ease as I was very worried, was dealt with right away, vet was so nice
Hi Patricia, thanks so much for your positive feedback. We really appreciate it. It’s a pleasure to have helped you and your pet. Have a great day.
Negative experience: I got my dog seen very quickly but the out of hours charge is utterly ludicrous. I felt like I was being held to ransom. How can anyone believe that charging £350 just to see you is reasonable and fair. Additionally the medication prescribed was supplied at 5x the price which you can buy it on viovet. Whomever decided on this pricing needs to have a good hard look at themselves as they are clearly bereft of morals.
Hi Benjamin, thanks for your feedback on the cost of our service. As you may be aware, it’s a lot more expensive to run an after-hours emergency vet service. The greater running costs we incur are reflected in our prices. If you’d like to read more about our running costs, prices and where our profits go, please visit: https://www.vets-now.com/2018/01/emergency-vet-costs-prices-fees/
Fantastic experience: Was offered and received timely treatment for my pet
Hi Alex, many thanks for your positive feedback. We're pleased to hear we could look after your pet. Have a great day!
Fantastic experience: From arrival to treatment everyone was professional and caring especially as we (spouse and I) were at high doh. All went smoothly and our pet came through. Very grateful for the professional help and advise. Quite expensive but expected with out of hours treatment.
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We really appreciate it. We’re glad you were happy with the service provided by our team and that they could help. Have a lovely day!
Fantastic experience: Great service, thank you, before and after
Hi David, thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We really appreciate it. Have a lovely day!
Fantastic experience: We brought our sphynx cat to Vets Now during out of hours treatment, with breathing difficulties. She was triaged within minutes to immediate treatment where they found her to have heart failure and fluid on her lungs. They were very empathetic and kept us updated with how they were helping her and how her future might look. She was kept in overnight, and we were sent a message at around 2:00 am as to how things were going, this was massively appreciated. Advice was given as to what happens next. Okay the cost was a lot, unfortunately we do not have her insurance any more, but that was our fault. Thanks so much for everything you've done for her. Thanks to you and our vet, we have her home. Not sure for how long but we're making the most of it, spoiling her like she deserves.
Hi Julie, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. It really was a pleasure to look after your cat. We hope you spend however long you have left with her making special memories. Have a lovely day.
Negative experience: Spent £350 to be told there was absolutely nothing wrong with my cat, within 24 hours after being told that he couldn’t even walk. He’s lost pretty much all feeling so is now booked in for a CT scan. All they care about is the money and not the animals.

Fantastic experience: My cat Binx had an emergency appointment on Sunday. I don’t drive so was relying on taxis to get to and from the location. Due to the snow there were no taxis to be had to get home. One of the veterinary nurses very kindly offered us a lift through the horrible weather. Thank you so much for this and for the speedy and caring treatment of my cat. (note for staff - you won’t recognise the name on this google id as I don’t have a personal google account myself so used someone else's to leave the review)
Hi there, thanks for leaving us a review, we really appreciate it. We will be sure to pass on your lovely comments to the team. Take care.
Negative experience: Was told to turn up as soon as I could, was not informed of the time we would need to wait. Waited for over 2.5 hours to be seen. Unfortunately my dog now has a cough (this was not what I took her in for) i am worried she has caught something from having to wait for so long in a waiting room full of sick animals. Staggered times for attending when it is busier should be implemented or at the very least some indication of the time you will need to be wait should be clarified on the phone before you attend. I feel awful as by taking my dog here, she is sicker now than before we went - not to mention the cost of £370 + the cost of treatment which, given our experience, is pretty shocking.

Fantastic experience: Was so impressed that there was vets on Xmas day and Boxing Day thank goodness for Pets Now as in our hour of need they were there my boy got the attention he so needed
Hi Mrs Milne, thanks so much for your positive feedback. We really appreciate it. It’s a pleasure to have helped you and your pet. Have a great day.
Fantastic experience: Excellent service. I was very worried about my cat and they made the time at the vet made it easy. They were very quick even they were busy. Thank you very much.
Hi Amanda, thanks so much for your positive feedback. We really appreciate it. It’s a pleasure to have helped you and your cat. Have a great day.
Fantastic experience: We had a traumatic experience with our beloved 12 year old JRT at 11.30pm Boxing Day night. Her face rapidly became swollen, her skin was a reddish purple colour etc. she was in a really bad way! In a panic, I called this vet and was greeted with a calm and reassuring receptionist who relayed my information to the vet, the vet quickly put my mind at ease and advised me that our dog’s symptoms sounded like the result of a bite or sting and to give her an antihistamine. Finally after about 20 minutes, she was finally able to settle and the swelling went down considerably. We were lucky that our issue was a simple and quick fix, but without this knowledge, things could have been very different. Thank you so much to the staff who swiftly guided us. We cannot thank you enough. (Pictures were taken before the antihistamine tablet was administered). Delighted that our girl has spent today resting and is looking almost fully back to normal
Hi Megan, thanks so much for your lovely feedback, it’s great to hear our team were able to help and that your pet is doing well.
Fantastic experience: Our dog, Lexi, was referred for CT scan and subsequently had spinal surgery for a ‘slipped disc’ in Aberdeen. She was so well looked after and we were kept well informed how she was after surgery and during her overnight stay - even receiving pictures and a small video clip which made us all cry (happy) tears! So happy to have Lexi back home and recovering x x
Hi Wendy, thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We really appreciate it. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service. We are so glad to hear that Lexi is recovering well.
Fantastic experience: Vets now is a brilliant service!! The vet was lovely and so caring with Solo and knowledgeable and he is on the mend now.
Hi Niki, many thanks for your positive feedback. It’s a pleasure to have helped you and Solo. Have a great day.
Fantastic experience: Caring and empathetic from call handler to vet and veterinary nurses.
Hi Rhona, thanks so much for your positive feedback. We’re glad you were happy with the service provided by our team. Have a great day.
Fantastic experience: Emergency in the evening, was seen immediately & the vet was fantastic. Price was very reasonable compared with other vets. They treated my super senior (approx 16/17) so well & she is now back to loving her retirement. Can’t fault them.
Hi Lucy, thanks so much for your positive feedback. We're glad we were able to help your cat, and now she is back to enjoying her retirement. Have a lovely day!
Negative experience: Absolutely pointless. Thanks puppies pass away.Looks like more important make money than help.Paid more than 500£ for nothing.

Negative experience: Disgraceful service. Cant even be bothered doing full checks. Absolute rip off for what they do. Basically told me to go to local vet the next day yet still charged us £350

Fantastic experience: Can't fault the lovely staff that directed me on what to to do about my cat. They were friendly, helpful and Empathetic. It goes a long way when you're worried about your furr bebe
Hi Leyla, we really appreciate your kind words. We’re glad we could help you and your pet.
Fantastic experience: So kind, reassuring & ultimately helpful Was so grateful they were there! Thank you
Hi Elane, we really appreciate your kind words, thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
Negative experience: The service was “ok”, friendly receptionist but myself and my other half felt the vet was dismissive and standoffish. Taking in your pet in an emergency is distressing and we didn’t feel like we were dealt with compassion or reassurance. Our dog is also nervous and can bark at strangers (we keep him muzzled) and the vet commented on his behaviour which we felt was unnecessary given the already stressful situation. We were also given medication with the wrong dogs name on it…and to top it off a charity donation was added to our invoice which we weren’t asked about (it was a small amount but the principle remains the same). It was a lot of money to spend to be made to feel the way we left feeling. Thankfully our own vet the next day was extremely helpful and reassuring.

Fantastic experience: Both vets were excellent very friendly and explained everything when we took our cat out of hour can't rate them highly enough
Hi Wayne, thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We’re glad you were happy with the service provided by our team.
Fantastic experience: The OOH team at Barton were amazing - we couldn’t faulted them. They were quick to help, kind, supportive, professional and kept us well informed of our pets treatment, care plan and costs at every stage. Thank you so much for taking care of Ruby. She’s back to happy!
Hi Emma, our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service.
Positive experience: Tremendous service to the animal but seriously expensive- granted out of hours but in my opinion radically overpriced- even the drugs were more expensive out of hours. My own practice was 10% of the price for the same care and as for having to be there at 7.30am to collect!!! What were you going to do? Throw her out on the street or charge another grand?
Hi Alexander, we really appreciate your kind words. We’re glad we could help you and your pet. If you’d like to see a breakdown of our costs, visit: https://www.vets-now.com/2018/01/emergency-vet-costs-prices-fees/.
Fantastic experience: Brodie was completely shook up after another dog went for him. We were treated straight away. Very attentive. The vet we dealt with put us at total ease and was amazing with Brodie.
Hi Nic, thanks for sharing your feedback. I’m so pleased our team could be there for you and Brodie when you needed us most.
Negative experience: 5 min triage with a 2 hour round trip to get there. Consultation price is disgusting and needs reviewing
Hi Richard, I know it can be frustrating having to pay for an unplanned trip to the vets. Much like it is for other out-of-hours services in other industries, It's more expensive to run an out-of-hours pet emergency service than a general daytime practice. We've broken down where our costs go here if you'd like to find out more: https://bit.ly/2ybF2sc.
If you’d like to query your bill or speak to us about anything we’re here for you on [email protected].
Fantastic experience: Dog sliced his side open and required stitches (of course Sunday night) very pleased with the staff and care received during this stressful time.
Hi Isobel, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I’m so happy we could be there for you and that we were able to help your pet.
Fantastic experience: Received excellent care on a Sunday night with my sick cat. Staff and vets were great and informative. Glad to have this service nearby
Hi James, we work hard to ensure every client’s experience is second-to-none and we’re glad to hear you found this to be the case.
Fantastic experience: I had phoned in on Sunday and expressed my concerns for my cat, they provided me with advice instantly, helping me with costs already on the phone before I even left my place. As soon as I got there they took all my details and documents while in the waiting room. Of course as this was an emergency clinic for out of hours I had to wait around an hour before I got seen but still a pretty fast time as they were dealing with other patients. As I got seen they asked me for details on the events that had been happening, as well as any details on other vet visits. They proceeded to then check my cat, taking her temperature, measuring her heart rate, feeling the stomach and more. Once they’ve checked over my cat they discussed the plan of action that had to be taken. I had explained to them that I wouldn’t able to afford their services if my insurance wasn’t able to cover it due to excess and clauses that were in my policy. The vet then provided me with a service that I could cover if my insurance wasn’t able to pay the bill, the service wasn’t the suggested one but the only option I could proceed with until Monday morning when I could visit my vet. The workers here truly care about the health and well being of your animals, they’re understanding and helpful, talking you through every possibility, next step as well as helping you figure what’s best for your pet and yourself. At this time I’m struggling with my insurance, worrying if it will cover my bills as I don’t have enough funds to support any of these visits to the vet. I’m struggling financially as it is, working barely 16hours a week, living on no benefits until my studies restart and the vet saw my concerns. Doing everything they can by even phoning my insurance company to help me sort out excess and clauses, disregarding it’s a Sunday and the company is closed they still did their best to help me. I cannot express enough how kind the people are here, helping everyone no matter what situation you or your pet is in. I strongly advise this vet to anyone, wether it’s to call them for advice or to turn to for an emergency.
Hi Odrija, thank you for your great review, I'll make sure we share this with the team in Vets Now Aberdeen.
Positive experience: I have to say the staff were terrific and very understanding and supportive however, a few pence short of £720 to have a 9kg dog euthanized is insane exploitation. Add the cost of cremation and I have spent £924 to have my dog put out of her pain. It's little wonder people are avoiding veterinary care and abandoning elderly or unwell animals.
Hi Wilma, thanks for your review. We are so sorry for your loss. We all know how hard it is to lose a family member. If you would like to discuss this further, please email us on [email protected] indicating which clinic you attended, your pets name and the first line of your home address highlighting your concerns.
Fantastic experience: Lovely friendly reassuring staff. Vet Ruth was very helpful explaining what was wrong with my dog and what the treatment options were. From first telephone call to clinic visit I was very happy with this service.
Hi Karen. Thanks for your kind words. We will be sure to pass these onto the team. We hope you have a wonderful day.
Fantastic experience: Very pleasant and helpful Vets dog was seen promptly at out of ours and put my mind at rest with minimum effort Going home with a happy dog after a couple of days medicine on holiday. Bit pricey like all out of hours but happy to pay for puppy
Hi Vicky, we really appreciate your kind words. We’re glad we could help you and your pet. If you’d like to see a breakdown of our costs, visit: https://www.vets-now.com/2018/01/emergency-vet-costs-prices-fees/.
Fantastic experience: First class service . My dog bleeding heavily after an altication with another dog , straight in and sorted no messing about . Gave me a rough estimate and was quite a few hundred pounds below the quote . Wonderful and professional
Hi Chris, we’re happy we could be there for you and your pet when you needed us.
Negative experience: When having my beautiful fur baby put to sleep last Saturday they showed no compassion or empathy. Whilst he was passing the staff were in the next room laughing and chatting showing no consideration for what we were going through.the whole experience felt like a transaction making dealing with our loss so much worse. Would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: The staff are amazing, caring, and incredibly compassionate. Thank you so much!
Hi Gill, thanks for your kind words. We will be sure to pass these onto the team. Have a wonderful day!
Negative experience: I’ll give 2 stars for the friendly staff but otherwise a disappointing and very expensive experience! My puppy was drooling constantly and seeming unwell. The emergency vet said he had gastroenteritis and gave him an injection for sickness. He got worse over the next few days and we took him to our vet who said it was lingually displaced canines causing him pain and they were the reason for the drooling. He was admitted straight away for surgery to remove the teeth. I’d like a refund of the £465.39 we paid to Vets Now as they failed to diagnose the actual problem.

Negative experience: Terrible dog is insured wanted me to pay upfront which I can't that's why have insurance to treat my dog ended up going through PDSA thank god she was with PDSA or god help my poor dog have reported my concerns to my insurance told me one thing never kept me updated said PDSA prefer to wait till Monday have not been so upset in long time I would prefer never to use you again stress hassle one of my pups went here through PDSA got it wrong pup suffered for 3 months and had to be put down looks to be they company that runs now vets needs to look at stress to owner and pets my dog is still needing help they did care for her when they had her I truly hope to never need to go to you again sorry

Fantastic experience: Really good service, caring staff and kept informed of what they were going to do. First rate my dog was very well looked after
Hi Ann, we’re glad you were happy with the service provided by our team. Thank you for the 5 star rating.
Positive experience: The staff were kind, compassionate, knowledgeable and were happy to fully explain our options. Our cat's treatment was excellent - a 5-star effort from them. But there weren't any Lamborghinis in the car park so I can only assume the ASTRONOMICAL out of hours emergency consultation and treatment fees are straight up greed by the business owners, leveraging the love of people's beloved pets to make financial gains. So they get knocked down to 3 stars.
Hi Selene, we appreciate your feedback about the cost of our service. Generally, it’s a lot more expensive to run an out-of-hours clinic and our costs tend to reflect this. Fantastic experience: Outstanding level of commitment and care! Can't thank everyone enough for the care and treatment provided to Drogon
Hi Sim, our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service. Have a lovely day.
Negative experience: Cat needed seen as he had swelling on his face and was lethargic after a suspected fight with another cat the night before. Managed to get an appointment the night after when we called. After an hour and a half of waiting they gave him an anti inflammatory and no antibiotics for the suspected possible infection which we've been told to keep an eye on. Private apps with no insurance are always going to be an arm and a leg but for £350 to give an anti inflammatory and told to go back to our normal vets in the coming days is just a joke. £390 practically to look at the cat, give an anti inflammatory to "hopefully reduce" the swelling & advised we go to another vet for antibiotics. Jokers, if im paying an arm and a leg then id hope the problem would be resolved but as it stands the cat now needs another trip to the vet as the anti inflammatory given has done nothing to help the swelling and hes still lethargic. Never again. Do everything you can to steer away from this lot.

Fantastic experience: We were visiting Aberdeen when our 15 month snoodle pup started vomiting and diarrhoea. Called Vets Now and were seen within an hour, pup given a injection to stop the vomiting and further medication to take away with us. Staff really friendly and very professional.
Hi Cherron, thanks so much for your positive feedback. We really appreciate it. Have a good day.
Negative experience: Wasn't a fan. Had an emergency appointment booked after my dog collapsed. When we got there, they kept us waiting in reception for 40 minutes without any update or contact. All this achieved was allowing my dog to get worked up to the stage that when the vet finally saw her, she was unable to be properly examined. All they did was give her some Gabapentin for overnight and instructions to see our regular vets in the morning. Didn't give me a consent form to sign for the medication which, apparently, they're legally obliged to do. So basically achieved nothing and got charged £373 for it. Absolute disgrace how much this practice charge for an OOH appointment.

Positive experience: We were immediately reassured by the friendly, helpful, caring approach taken as soon as we stepped through the door. Our dog was expertly treated and we were given clear advice as to how her treatment was to be managed
Hi Michael, I’m so happy we could be there for you and that we were able to help your pet.
Fantastic experience: We've been to Vets Now in Aberdeen twice in the past week. The first was after our 16-year-old kitty hadn't eaten in several days and we were concerned that he needed nutrition and fluids asap. Ruth, the vet on duty, looked after him overnight and recommended that we take him to our regular vet for a feeding tube, which we did the next day. A week later the feeding tube (which kept Scout alive while his new antibiotics kicked in) came out after hours, so we returned to Vets Now and Emma cleaned up the wound, removed the stitches and gave him two injections. Scout is now doing great and we are so grateful to the wonderful Vets Now team for getting us through this stressful situation. We would not hesitate to recommend them!
Hello Kimberlie, we appreciate the positive review about your recent experience with us.
Negative experience: Not a good experience at all no vets on call out in Aberdeenshire at all put tho to Aberdeen at 10:30 at night would not give any advice on the phone at all told to come to Aberdeen 50 miles away would be £340 just to get to the door sadly my dog died while on the phone to them. absolutely shocking that they would not give any advice on the phone it's all about ££££ to them no care in the world It would help if you actually read my review instead of putting a copy and past reply I did not attend your client as I was by my dogs side on the phone to yourself

Negative experience: Shouldn't be allowed to practice. Euthanasia your animal is a difficult time when it's not carried out well and peacefully for the animal and owners it's disgusting. On top of which they then charge a lot more if it's out of hours as they have you over a barrel as you don't want your animal to suffer. Disgrace.

Negative experience: I feel it was very expensive for very little information. The vet we seen could not do the tests we needed and as a result we took our cat to our own vet the next day where he had to be put to sleep. When paying for an emergency appointment I feel there should have been better results.

Fantastic experience: They was quick and professional. They explained what they thought was wrong and every step of making our cat well again. Very highly recommended
Hi Bryan, we really appreciate your review! We hope you have a lovely day.
Fantastic experience: The staff were very kind and empathetic.have nothing bad to say about the place. I'm just thankful that they are there day, or night.
Hello, we appreciate the positive review about your recent experience with us.
Negative experience: This practice should be ashamed of themselves, how they sleep at night I don't know. Morally it is disgusting. My heart goes out to all the families they put under immense stress with their predatory pricing. I have read their responses to other reviews about their pricing, they claim it's due to out of hours costs. The standard fee to be seen in the area is £65. Yet here it is £300. It does not cost almost 500% more to operate out of hours, they certainly don't pay the vets delivering the care 5x more. I can't help but think of all the families they take advantage of when they have an emergency who can't afford this. They put them in an awful position. This needs to be regulated. There are absolutely no issues paying double time to a Vet operating out of hours, but 5x? This becomes predatory taking advantage of people who are in situation. All I can think of are the families who have no choice but to either go into debt or keep their pet in pain as a result of this. Regulators need to step in.

Fantastic experience: We were served quickly, correctly and effectively. The next day my dog friend was groggy but healed. Thank you vets now Aberdeen
Hi Jack, thanks so much for your lovely feedback, it’s great to hear our team were able to help and that your pet is doing well.
Fantastic experience: Vets Now were brilliant, they looked after my dog with exceptional professionalism and care, excellent team
Hi Mo, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. We hope you have a good day!
Negative experience: Sadly the fees are extortionate. While I understand out of hours/emergency care, this is usually at the most £80-£100, but £347 just to be seen, does not include actual treatment or anything else. This could result in a lot of pets being harmed, or not surviving due to these ridiculously high costs. Sadly, all vets practices in the city have Vets Now as the emergency or out of hours provider, which makes it impossible to go anywhere else, especially when all you care about is seeing your pet well and happy. This is and will sadly leave alot of pets suffering and owners living with tremendous financial worry (as pre-existing conditions are not covered by insurance, this could lead to even more issues).
Hi Sasha, thanks for your feedback on the cost of our service. As you may be aware, it’s a lot more expensive to run an after-hours emergency vet service. The greater running costs we incur are reflected in our prices. Fantastic experience: Very glad that vets now service is available after my pets health deteriorated quickly... its quite comforting that there is somewhere available out of hours otherwise I think he may have been fighting a pretty nasty infection and who knows how long it would have taken him to recover... Thanks Vets Now ❤️
Hi Donna, I’m so happy we could be there for you and that we were able to help your pet.
Fantastic experience: From the moment we arrived staff could not have been more helpful and empathetic of our emergency situation. Our dog presented with a real life threatening condition which required immediate action to which the team responded. Through the day we were kept up to date with details of his condition and during all of the treatment I was relieved to know that he was being looked after and was under close observation. Thankfully our boy got home the next day and although his recovery is slow he is getting there. Thank you to all at Vetsnow Aberdeen
Hi Heidi, our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly and good at treating my 12 week puppy. They acted so fast on treating her for eating something toxic
Hi Alison, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. We hope you have a good day!
Negative experience: Vets acted very quickly, but I was very surprised and disappointed, that emergency vets couldn't provide Diazepam. My kitten has very bad seizures where kitten passed out fwe times.

Positive experience: overall I was very happy from ringing up going to vets and received excellent care for Rufus and they honestly could’t do enough for him, I have knocked a star off however because although was out of hours I think 347 just to walk through the door to be seen is very expensive and abit excessive.
Hi Chloe, we really appreciate your kind words. We’re glad we could help you and your pet. If you’d like to see a breakdown of our costs, visit: https://www.vets-now.com/2018/01/emergency-vet-costs-prices-fees/. We hope you have a great day.
Negative experience: My poor dog who had been sick 4 times needed to go for a visit to Vets Now to find out if she was alright. Firstly I was greeted with a vet that was not very compassionate and rattled off a load of potential problems and prices. Running into the thousands. My count of £10k on my little Chihuahua in the space of half an hour. I initially wanted her checked over and normally the vet would administer an anti sickness injection and feel for any blockages if the dog has been sick. This has happened a couple of times at my usual vet practice with my other older dog but this Vets Now were in it for the money. I was told blood should be taken. I was delirious by now over all the medical conversation so reluctantly agreed with what she was saying. She could feel nothing in her stomach and she was in no pain so she didn’t need bloods taken. The vet wanted to keep her over night to put her on an IV drip and XRay her with potentially operating on her if she could see a foreign object. She said maybe up to 3 scans needed, the price kept rising. Unbelievably those prices were on the back of a paper kitchen towel. She kept looking at the back of the kitchen towel to refer to the costs. My gut feeling was to take my girl home and look after her myself that night. When I mentioned this her face changed/dropped. She then said it was against her will so I had to sign documents. My husband who sat in the chair clearly thought she was scaremongering us as I was so upset regarding the potential costs and painful operation for my dog. My dog wasn’t sick at all during the night and next day. She moved her bowels twice the following day after giving her some food, so clearly no blockage. All this worry and scaremongering caused me a lot of distress. I have never encountered this practice at any Veterinary Surgery. The whole ordeal felt very ‘in it for the money’ so to speak! I was never informed of a needle collecting her urine for a sample costing £69.50 then bloods which were several types costing £214 which I was never informed of that price beforehand. Then to top things I asked the vet how I can keep her hydrated, just with water. She then produced a product costing £5.79 at Pets Planet, their price £22. Again catching me in such a vulnerable state to protect my dog. Water would have been sufficient. So sadly a very stressful night with this vet which could easily of avoided all those hidden costs that were on her kitchen towel! Extremely unprofessional for a Vet and will never ever use this service again. I am shaken to the core by her soulless demands for money and feel very misled. Thankfully my dog is running around happily in the house back to her usual self but if my gut feeling didn’t kick in I would have put my poor dog through a terrible night for nothing. Her heart and lungs were healthy. My dog was clearly not on deaths door and easily could have waited until morning but the Vet took advantage of my vulnerable state to make money for what seemed like a very quiet night at VETS NOW. I was right regarding her unprofessionalism and just glad I took my puppy home with me.
Hi Patricia, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. If you would like to discuss your experience further then please contact us at [email protected]
Fantastic experience: Had to visit the emergency vet for my cat. The team were caring and compassionate. They provided me with updates on his tests and explained the treatment he required. Thank you to Alison (vet) and the team for their help with this emergency.
Hi Denise, I’m so happy we could be there for you and that we were able to help your pet.
Negative experience: VetsNow as a company completely take advantage of vulnerable pet owners. Whilst the care that is offered from a Veterinary team member is good and in-depth the costs they are charging people is through the roof. Outside of Aberdeen at Emergency vet centres the usual cost is £75 out of hours, here it’s made very clear it’s £330 to be seen and any treatment is on top. Staff member who takes payment used language like “usually our customers pay us in full on the day as it’s easier for both parties and you’ll get a refund from your insurance” - only upon then when querying about why the cost was £200 more than quoted were we told you could charge through insurance “however it is a lengthy process for all parties and will result in everything taking longer” - when in actual fact it’s because they just want their money now and don’t want to have to wait for your insurance to reimburse them. I would advise people also ensure a breakdown is provided before you pay and explained in detail, as it wasn’t until after we paid and we were handed a breakdown that showed we were double charged for injections - whilst this could be an honest mistake there was zero empathy provided and immediately jumped to a defensive response, then when checked it was found to be a “easily made mistake” and that they would need to refund us for them. People are often stressed, concerned and ultimately vulnerable at an out of hours vet and may not check these things. As a result we will plan to change our day time vet to outside Aberdeen so that if an out of hours service is required we will pay a normal fee of £75. Really poor service for a company with 16mil+ profits in the last year. Pets over profits - not the other way round.

Negative experience: It was a terrible and deeply unsettling 1.5-day experience, unlike anything I had ever imagined. I always believed that people in the UK, especially vets, would naturally be animal lovers and professional, but the experience i encountered made me seriously question this. The vet who attended to my dog repeatedly told me to be prepared to put her to sleep since she took over the duty from her colleague, and near the end of the weekend, she almost urged me to make that decision. She focused heavily on the glucose issue, which, while potentially a long-term concern, wasn’t the immediate priority and needed further investigation. The real, urgent problem appeared to be a chest infection—something that could have been treated promptly with antibiotics and likely would have shown quick improvement. However, this was relatively downplayed by her, because I noticed her colleague, the previous vet, the night before she took over, had significant improved my dog’s chest sounds, which had become nearly inaudible. My dog was slowly wondering around when i went to visit her. After leaving the hospital, the local vets took the same approach, prioritizing treatment of the chest problem first. Unfortunately, under her care, the chest sounds worsened along with other symptoms that had previously been improving. When I had to bring my dog home, although very weak, the first thing she struggled to do was drink a large amount of water. This raised serious concerns for me—how could she be so thirsty after being on a drip the entire time in the hospital? Thankfully and God willing, she is now lively and much improved, and her glucose levels have been normalizing actually on its own, since out of the hospital. It is hard to imagine what would be like if I had listened to her. Instead of offering me constructive, and informative support and a proactive treatment plan for my dog, she pressured me toward the worst possible outcome, and was unhelpful when i requested to refer my dog to local hospital in order to get a second opinion and more accessible treatment. I am not speculating any sinister intent, but in reality, this experience caused a lot of psychological stress because of her approach and attitude, especially when I needed to be strong and resolute in the face of a life-and-death choice.

Negative experience: Believe they take advantage of being the only emergency vets in Aberdeen. Took my cat in with breathing problems and was made to wait 3 hours as he was given oxygen. All his tests had previously been done by his registered vet so there was no reason for the wait really. 3 other animals were seen before us and we weren’t provided with updates throughout the entire time. Once the time did come to give us an update, we were told he would need to stay overnight. We wanted to take him home but were told that we were not allowed at all. We knew he would be stressed (which was confirmed as they admitted that the sight of the vet made him breathe harder - something which doesn’t happen at his normal vets). We paid for him to stay overnight and have scans. In the morning, I was advised that they couldn’t scan his heart properly as he got too distressed (still got charged and already knew he would be like that, didn’t think to give him anti-anxiety tablets). I was also told that he might not be fit enough to go on a 15 min drive to his normal vets, and I would need to pay £800 more for him to stay, despite already taking £960 for essentially just being in an oxygen chamber. I refused as it is a lot of money and I knew he’s stressed. I took him to his normal vets and he was less stressed, managed to survive the drive and a 20 min reception wait there, they scanned him with sedation and he was purring the entire time. He was a lot worse coming out of VetsNow. His health really deteriorated from that appointment. I really would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: We appreciate the service as our dog broke her leg on a Friday evening. The team delivered a professional service with compassion. They explained clearly what was to occur and the potential costs involved.
Hi Trish, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. We hope you have a good day!
Fantastic experience: Brilliant service saved my girl. We are so grateful to Rebecca and the team of vets that operated on Cookie can't thank them enough.
Hi Shaun, we really appreciate your kind words.
Fantastic experience: I had to use this service again for my wee dog and the staff both on the phone at at the vets could not have been more helpful, understanding and friendly... I had to leave him over night in their care and I knew that he was in very safe hands, I had to do the same over Xmas last year which was a scary time as it was touch and go if he would make it then, the staff were brilliant and kept me informed regularly on his condition, thanks to their diligence and expertise he came through it, unfortunately I had to ask their help once more this week and again they were fantastic...I have him home again and in the mend...I cannot thank them enough, I'd give them 100+ stars if I could....from the first phone call to getting him home I knew we were in good hands...brilliant service, fantastic staff...thank you so much again.
Hi Julie, we work hard to ensure every client’s experience is second-to-none and we’re glad to hear you found this to be the case.
Fantastic experience: Very good vets and good clinic.Easy to get same day appointment with doctors. My pet was treated with care . Thank you for all advices and support.
Hi Vladlena, thanks so much for letting us know how we did.
Fantastic experience: Took my dog after he ate a biscuit with raisins. I was seen immediately on arrival and updated throughout. The vet staff were amazing and everything worked out fine, thankfully. Very reassuring to know we have this excellent team available.
Hi, I’m so happy we could be there for you and that we were able to help your pet.
Positive experience: Very reassuring vets and our cat was looked after well. Unfortunately we are still waiting for our insurance claim to be resolved as Vets Now don't deal with the owners directly, which seems to complicate matters. Very happy with our pet's care on the day though.
Hi Liz, thanks for taking the time to leave us a review.
Positive experience: Once we arrived at the vets it was pretty straightforward. The redirection from my own vet to the out of hours wasn’t good and I'm glad that I wasn’t in a worse situation! However the costs for the treatment we received was astronomical. It cannot be justified but I also recognise I had no choice under the circumstances.
Hi Christine, thanks for your feedback on the cost of your pet’s care at Vets Now. We appreciate that taking an unplanned trip to an emergency care provider can be frustrating. It’s much more expensive to run an emergency clinic than a regular daytime veterinary practice and our prices do reflect this. For a thorough breakdown and explanation of our pricing policy, feel free to visit: https://www.vets-now.com/2018/01/emergency-vet-costs-prices-fees/
Fantastic experience: Had to take two dogs late on an evening, phoned the call centre who took all the details. Passed to the local 24 hour vet who was in a consultation. Called me back within an hour, advised to head in. Costs were made clear for the initial consult and vet advised total bill before we gave consent. Excellent out of hours service.
Hi George, I’m so happy we could be there for you and that we were able to help your pet.
Fantastic experience: The Vets Now team cared for my little rescue dog over a weekend after she needed spinal surgery. The communication from the whole team was excellent and they went above and beyond to help and reassure me when I needed it.
Hi Jennie, we work hard to ensure every client’s experience is second-to-none and we’re glad to hear you found this to be the case.

Hi Cammy, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service.
Fantastic experience: Very nice and clean building and surroundings. Very quick response for our bunny who had been ill for days and was deteriorating quickly, from making the call that we needed help to treatment we have no complaints at all, the vet explained everything precisely and answered all our questions. It was very busy but no time was shortened in giving advice and treatment to help our bunny. A bit pricey for the out of hours service, but well worth it, our bunny is priceless, but most importantly she is still here with us and getting better every day, which we will be forever thankful for. Maria says thank you all so much for making her feel better.

Negative experience: My dog got bitten on the face by another dog and I rushed him to the emergency vet. In my head I was panicking about infection and wanted someone to look at it, clean the wound, and give him antibiotics. 2 hours we sat in the waiting room. Then, when the vet did see him she said “it’s been too long now to know if it needed cleaned”. So not overly impressed, I must admit.

Fantastic experience: The staff at Ardene House Kingswells are fantastic . They took such good care of Suzie on both our visits over the weekend. They explained everything they had done and what was happening. Ruth the nurse came explained everything and made so much time for me. Listening to me and having a friendly chat. So impressed with the service. Well done everyone who worked this weekend
Hi Louise, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service.
Positive experience: Absolutely recommend they take care of your pet regardless of what time of day it is ... perhaps because of prices x
Hi Samantha, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. We hope you have a good day!
Positive experience: Lovely service from start to finish. We did have a 3hr wait but the circumstances were understandable. Only one Vet on duty on a Sunday morning.Rebecca had come up from Glasgow .Her professionalism knowledge and care was very reassuring. Our dog had a thorough examination before she came to a conclusion and treated him. She did a fabulous job on what was a difficult morning. The staff were not only dealing with those who came in but those in the hospital. The triage works. The more needy cases took priority. Experienced friendly staff.
Hi Willie, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service.
Positive experience: Staff were kind, empathetic and professional. All questions were answered and the phone call updates were very appreciated, you really got the sense that the nurses were looking after your pet and it put your mind at ease. Prices were discussed at the time and yes it was expensive.
Hi, our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service.
Fantastic experience: Excellent attendance by vets Alison and overnight - Jill. Prompt response when my Scottie dog became worse while waiting to see vet - immediately escalated in order of clinical emergency.
Hi Maureen, thanks so much for your positive feedback. We really appreciate it.
Fantastic experience: My dog was well cared for by friendly staff. Glad I took him, only downside is the price for out of hours visit. Very expensive.
Hi Jennifer, it’s great to hear you had a good experience at our pet emergency service. I know it can be frustrating having to pay for an unplanned trip to the vets. Much like it is for other out-of-hours services in other industries, It's more expensive to run an out-of-hours pet emergency service than a general daytime practice. We've broken down where our costs go here if you'd like to find out more: https://www.vets-now.com/2018/01/emergency-vet-costs-prices-fees/. If you’d like to query your bill or speak to us about anything we’re here for you on [email protected]
Fantastic experience: My first visit to Vets Now in Aberdeen was excellent! Was extremely worried about my pooch who has just been diagnosed with Diabetes so it's a scary time. Dexter was well looked after.
Hi Tricia, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review.
Fantastic experience: Very pleased with the care and treatment of my dog in an emergency. The staff were super nice & very gentle when dog was in pain. Thank you
Hi, we work hard to ensure every client’s experience is second-to-none and we’re glad to hear you found this to be the case.
Fantastic experience: When I arrived at Vets Now they were there immediately to take Noah from me to treat him without delay. The vet Gillian took responsibility of care for Noah and would update me promptly. Things were a bit touch and go when he did not initially respond to the treatment after a couple of hours, but Gillian offered to give him more time and I’m so thankful for this. To much of our surprise we got a positive phone call in the morning and we were able to take our baby home thanks to Gillian. I will forever be grateful. It was the most horrendous night of my life seeing him struggle to breathe and going home preparing for the worse. When we went back to collect Noah in the morning there Gillian was after a 12 hour + shift. The vets are underrated - they are superstars!
Hi Nicole, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Our team are all passionate about pets and their welfare. They’ll be thrilled to hear you were so happy with their service.
Fantastic experience: Very professional, very helpful, staff brilliant, very understanding and caring, put our minds at rest, did everything they could to get our dog to the best clinic for treatment. Can't recommend them enough
Hi Stuart, we appreciate all reviews and thank you for leaving a 5 star rating.
Positive experience: I liked only one thing about vetsnow: its is always available in odd hours. Treatment: it is as fine as any other vets Staff behavior: we went at 2 AM because my little pup was too sick. When we rang bell, someone answering the bell asked, if we had an appointment!! My pup was vomiting continuously and they kept on asking demographic details of me. It was still okay Fees: Tremendous!!! Consultation fees plus out of hours charge. They told me the fees before consultation and asked if i am fine with that, they can see my pup. Like, I understand it is a private practice and they thrive on the vet fees, but emergency/life saving measures should be given to any little animal who needs it. Atleast when someone comes for an emergency, you assess the situation and suggest if it is an emergency or we can wait until next day to see the vet for regular hours fees. Anyways, being the only option in odd hours for animal related emergency, we dont have any other option. So 3 stars for providing odd hours service and relief too my beloved pup
Hi Swapnil, thanks for sharing your feedback. I’m so pleased our team could be there for you when you needed us most. If you’d like us to look into any aspect of your visit please get in touch at [email protected]

Each treatment option was explained clearly. Blood tests, x-ray and medication all provided onsite. Also provided support with insurance claim.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic…I honestly couldn’t thank the all the Vets I’ve dealt with this month for Norman’s issues. Everyone was kind, considerate and so informative.
Hi Emma, thanks so much for your positive feedback. We really appreciate it. It’s a pleasure to have helped you and your pet. Have a great day.
Fantastic experience: We had to use the emergency service when our dog Archie suddenly became very unwell. The vet on duty dealt with Archie, us and my elderly father with great compassion and kindness. Unfortunately, it was a sad outcome but she gave us all the information we needed to understand what was happening and provided excellent care throughout. Thank you
Hi Kate, we really appreciate your kind words about our team at Aberdeen, thank you.

Hi Jenna, thanks so much for your lovely feedback, it’s great to hear our team were able to help and that your pet is doing well.
Fantastic experience: Outstanding job of caring for my dog!! Just the pricing is crazyy! And would be ideal if there was a practice or other vets open as the journey is long!!

Fantastic experience: 11.30 at night and my dog is in pain. Contacted Vets Now and was told to come straight in. Toby had three people attending him. I was given clear instructions as to what to do with his medication and what to do next day, ie go see my vet. By the time I saw my own vet the notes were already there from Vets Now. 5/5, wish it could be more. (p.s. Toby is fine)
