Negative experience: I spoke to a lady in the car park yesterday and had planned to go in today to register my 7 dogs, as I’ve just moved to the city from overseas. However, I was harshly approached by the same woman telling me to get out of the car park and that she was going to report me. Completely unnecessary and very unprofessional behaviour. I will not be registering any of my pets with this vet. It’s a real shame, as it would have been a convenient location for me — but after being spoken to like that, absolutely not.

Negative experience: Called for some advice on a dying puppy, was put on hold for at least 3 crucial minutes and then told that I’d be better seeking help elsewhere, when I just asked for some advice. I’m so disappointed on how downhill this practice has gone.

Fantastic experience: I’ll be honest — my first review came from a place of frustration. My dog had been struggling with a persistent ear infection, and at the time I felt his care wasn’t being handled properly. However, after speaking with Claire, one of the managers, I realised I had rushed to judge. She took the time to go through everything with me, explain clearly, and genuinely listen to my concerns. That conversation completely changed my perspective. Not only was I reassured about my dog’s treatment, but I also saw just how much effort and care the whole team puts into their work. The vets (especially Kevin, who has been treating my dog) and staff are not only professional, but also incredibly kind and supportive — both to pets and owners. I just suggest that to really listen to them and take time to really go through ever treatment option and not to not do what I did. Now, I can honestly say this is one of the best vet practices I’ve ever been to. Thank you to kevin, Claire and the rest of the team for your patience and dedication — I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this practice to anyone.

Negative experience: My dog has had a persistent ear infection for half the year. Not once did any vet perform any test to determine the cause. Whether it was bacterial or yeast. All we were given were ear drops, then he had “some condition” were he needed injections ever month. When in fact he didn’t need it what so ever. Don’t get me wrong the staff (both vets and others) have been super friendly and nice but in terms of treating my dog, I wouldn’t trust them as far as I could throw them. PLEASE PKEASE PLEASE, really think about taking your pet here

Fantastic experience: We took our puppy ‘Freddie’ for his second vaccination and health check. Kevin was fantastic and explained everything to us very well and made our puppy feel so at ease, lots of tail wags and he didn’t notice his injection.Thank you also to lovely receptionist who made us feel very welcome.

Fantastic experience: A great vet practice. We travel to mainland Europe with our dog so require an AHC to be completed and need to make sure our pet has the rabies vaccination. Always friendly and helpful staff.

Negative experience: We have been registered at Aurora Vet for more than 6 years. We have only been checked for minor ailments. Today, we urgently arrived at their place with an open wound on his paw. A young lady, a veterinarian, just looked at us and asked if we had thought about euthanizing him. He is a 14-year-old dog, it is true, but I did not bring him to the doctor to kill him. It was enough for them to disinfect the wound, apply an antibiotic ointment and bandage it. Shame!

Fantastic experience: We have been using Aurora for nearly 4 years, everyone clearly loves animals as our pooch Lucy gets excited when we pull up (to top up her vaccinations) as she gets attention from the reception and vet and she sits smiling happily throughout. They vet is always thorough giving her a check up as at 10 she is starting to show signs of ageing but thankfully she's in good health. It's not a chore taking her to the vet as you see in the photo she is happy to go!!!

Negative experience: Used it many times for a few minor illnesses but last time when my dog had something stuck in his guts they had a look and said he's fine which to me clearly he wasn't but wouldn't argue with a 'professional' would you. They gave him an injection and said to check up on the next day, that night he died in the most agony I've ever heard from an animal. To this day I think I should've pressed for more action. Good for simple diagnosis but wouldn't trust with anything serious.

Positive experience: My dog is very relaxed at this friendly vet clinic. All the staff are very friendly with both pets and owners. Very reasonable prices too and I can highly recommend. However, sadly since the company was recently sold, the prices have massively shot up.

Negative experience: Aurora used to be a great veterinary practice. However after the most recent experience with our frenchie has completely changed this. Leo who is 6 years of age was told on our last visit that he would be in palliative care and would need to be put to sleep. Over a course of 1 year Leo had been losing weight and strength in his hind legs. After numerous trips to Aurora & Edinburgh (£1000+) they still could not find the issues. At the start of this year Leo had a turn and got severely worse, with bloods taken but nothing was found again. We were later told via phone call Aurora had 'forgotten' to test for something in the blood and needed further blood tests which we had to then pay for again. (£200+) A few weeks later down the line Leo was brought back in as the decline had gotten to the worst. After waiting 30 mins to be seen, by this point the dog was extremely stressed. He had to stay in for tests and were further told Palliative care was needed. Our only options given were referral to AVR, being told this would cost thousands or it was to put him down. We went for the last option after not knowing what to do. At the very last minute we had heard about Fusion Physio. We then decided to reject getting him put down. At this point you could see the immediate change with Aurora. We were greeted with an ill mannered receptionist & chasing for payments. We have been scrutinized every visit because we raw feed and this being a possible reason for his issues (malnutrition) but couldn't come back with any evidence of this. 3 months of visiting Fusion Physio he has gained 2kg, has more energy than he ever has and is a happy thriving dog. We have made very minute changes to his diet but nothing major. We have received more information and help in 1 month, than a whole year being with this vets. For a good few years Aurora had their attention to care for your dog. Now it seems the attention is how much are you willing to spend.

Negative experience: Misdiagnosed our dog twice, after him showing symptoms of kidney disease I brought this up. Was “assured” it had nothing to do with his kidneys. A little over a week later we had to put our sweet boy to sleep at 4 years young due to… yeah you guessed it, chronic kidney failure. Don’t use this vets if you love your pets.

Positive experience: Good but like all vets very expensive

Fantastic experience: Been with aurora for over 15 years! Best vets I know and care so much about all animals and iv taken in some weird and wonderful pets to them over the years! Wouldn't change them for the world

Negative experience: We have been with Aurora over 15+ years and have always believed the practice and staff were outstanding. Andrew (no longer involved) according to him. Kevin and Marcia, were always first class, and I have recommended them for many years. Until last couple, as sadly loyalty doesn’t mean anything, and since what I believe to be as, bought over by a larger organisation and trading as Aurora, according to the information. Like some of the other comments it’s more about money than animal care now. Last year I had reason to call the emergency vet and discovered they didn’t work a call in service anymore, it was to Vets Now who charge £250 just to see your animal out of hours before any treatment or diagnosis. Aurora did not advise this change. On speaking to some other clients they too advised me the same, no customer guidance. Thankfully, our pet insurance covered the bill which we paid and claimed back as we did before during normal procedures. We have insurance for all our pets. Usually pay if under £200 claim back, anything over and as we previously did (our labs treatment was over £6k) our insurance just paid the vet directly. Last month I had our 22 month cocker into the vet with Kevin as he was biting his hips and won’t let me trim his nails or rear legs/feet. I assumed it was connected to abuse he suffered as he was rescue and had a horrendous start to life. Kevin examined him and we both agreed he’d need an X-ray as it was suggested potential hip dysplasia which, Kevin told me he has seen in dogs under 2. We discussed the cost and Kevin told me they do the claim directly with the insurers. As this visit was only £42 I paid it and will claim it back myself. I asked for the cost of the X-ray so I could get pre approval from the insurance, as at the moment I am not working and have no income, pleased I had insurance to help pay for my dog. Contacted Marcia who asked for the policy number which I gave her for both our animals so they had them. I was told they raise the claim directly. I asked for the estimate cost. Few hours later gets this and contacted our insurance who pre approved this and said they would deal directly with the vet if we wanted them to. I explained that is perfect as the vet advised they will raise the claim directly too. Most helpful when I have no income at present, at least I don’t have to worry about my vet bill. My dog can get help. I thought….. Practice manager Claire, called me and left a message to say they no longer deal directly with insurance and that I had to pay the bill up front and claim it back which I have done previously when working and could afford to. I explained that as I have no income the insurance are happy to deal directly and I was told so when Marcia took the policy numbers earlier to do so. Despite my long term loyalty and always paying our bills either in person or via insurance over the years. They are refusing to budge. Andrew advised he no longer has any involvement. I said that this means they are happy for my dog to be in pain as they won’t accept money via the insurance that I’ll have to cancel the X-ray and treatment as I’m not working and will need to find a vet to deal directly with insurance. Thinking my loyalty mattered and they know they always get paid, they’d say, no problem as animal care is more important. Nope, what they said was, “ok, I’ll cancel the X-ray and just let me know which vets you move them to so we can send them the history”. Absolutely shocked at the treatment after such loyalty and support to them, and equally disgusted that they no longer care about animal care ahead of money. My complaint brushed aside. So, please be very aware if your circumstances change and you’ve only insurance to pay. They won’t help now that they are not a small local run company.

Fantastic experience: I don’t use a vets and I unfortunately had to bring in a cat who had been in an accident. I had no idea where to go but I’m so glad I saw this place. I was a bit of mess and in shock, but the staff were really lovely and so comforting. They let me stay to see if there was a microchip and told me some details about the poor thing which I was thankful for. I couldn’t have asked for better people in such a sad situation, they were brilliant. Thank you for everything you do for these pets and their owners!

Positive experience: Mixed views for this vetenary practise. Everyone is fantastic at this place bar 1 woman. The bigger lady on reception with glasses is one of the most condescending and rude woman in customer service I’ve ever met in my life. This year was a extremely tough year personally for me and I did miss some appointments however I’m every single time I offered to pay for the slot. The woman was rude she was patronising and just over all an absolute pain to deal with. I once watched her ignore a customers calls when he called multiple times and then when he came in she clapped in his face to make him stop? He’s not a dog and you guys were heartless towards him. Based on watching this I moved vets and will never go back if you can avoid this woman then the rest of the staff are delightful.

Negative experience: Have been with the practice for nearly 3 years however decided to change due to several things. 1- Receptionist always very rude, when requesting medical histories I was told this could only be sent to my new vets, however after I informed her I was aware of what the RCVS website states she quickly changed her mind. 2- My dog has been misdiagnosed a few times, one being a luxating patella - I had several appointments to check my dogs leg as she had a limp on and off after a run at the park, now I get misdiagnosis can happen however the vet decided to examine an already nervous dog in a car park with other dogs, cars, people and a lot of noise, my dog was barking so I muzzled her so the vet would feel comfortable although they did not request this, my dog has no bite history. The vet was stood maybe 2 meters away, and diagnosed her with a luxating patella, and advised to put her under to take x-rays/do surgery. After having several opinions at Aurora I thought it didn't sound right so went for a second opinion, the practice I went to let me go in with my dog, which meant she was a lot more comfortable and relaxed, vet surgeon fully examined and said it was soft tissue damage, strict rest for a few weeks and she was back to normal, not had any issues for the past year. I think if the vets had more time at Aurora for examinations they would be more accurate and vets wouldn't run 20-30 min behind every single visit. 3- When I was looking to adopt I was told the dog could not be registered at their practice due to their new guidelines about brucella canis, said I would need to wait several months before coming into their practice and then have bloods done for this virus. I ended up buying a puppy after hearing their new rules and even with the puppy when trying to register they called me again to double check she was born in the UK. 4-My dog was diagnosed with epilepsy (which she does not have, it's been diagnosed as a completely different neurological issue) I had decided to take her abroad to a EU leading neurologist who works all over the EU and America, when I mentioned this to the vet she replied with 'You do know we have good neurologists here?' I am aware of that and had done my research however it's difficult when an MRI scan without a consultation starts at £4000, even after explaining that it's just too expensive it was still insisted I shouldn't take her abroad as due to their new guidelines, once we come back my dog will have to stay away from their practice for a few months and then have bloods done for a few hundred pounds to confirm she does not have this virus, they confirmed they could not even provide emergency care, In the end she said if I still insist on going she will sign it off but didn't seem happy and still put in medical notes that she does not advise to go abroad although my dog is healthy other than seizures once a month. My new vets have been extremely helpful, signed everything off and we finally got a diagnosis. This practice does have a few vets that genuinely care and some lovely nurses, it seems to have become more about the financial gain rather than the care they used to provide, I really hope they improve.

Negative experience: Been going here for years, when I called up to get my dog an appointment they said we would be charged £400 as there is a new strain of virus for dogs from Europe ( as my dog is imported from France....8 years ago) so all this time my dog has gone to the vets all of a sudden he can't get seen to until I pay up 400?? Even tho he's been in the UK all this time. Called two other vets who didn't have any issue at all and seen to my dog straight away..absolute scam artists!!

Negative experience: Extremely bad experience with them today. Staff reflected very badly on the practise. Very angry and upset by the way i was treated. I dropped off my cat into reception a few minutes early as i had an appointment at 1 and didnt want to be late but also had to take my kid back to school (which is opposite the clinic) for 1. Asked if it was ok to just run across the road to drop dd back as hubby had a meeting and i had no choice but to take her. Extremely rude young receptionist who blew up a situation that really didnt need to have been blown up at all in front of my kid who has autism and was upset. Was antagonistic and said i shouldnt have booked an appointment at that time if i knew that i would be taking my child back (which i didnt as my hubby takes her usually). I had to run which did my asthma no favours but the vet showed absolutely no concern and was more bothered about defending the receptionist. This is not the nhs, i was not going to be a few seconds late for a free appointment, this was an appointment that i chose to have and pay for which is lets face it quite expensive. I am always early for appointments which is why i came in early to let them know that i was there. Better with animals than human. Will be taking my pets elsewhere.

Everyone is friendly and very empathetic they love you pet as much as you do which is what you need from your vet especially when facing health issues with you pet. I can't rate them highly enough and recommend to anyone and everyone I know getting a pet.

Fantastic experience: We’ve used Aurora Vet since we got our pup. They’ve always been so lovely and reliable and happy to answer all my questions. Our dog’s health deteriorated through the night and we got a fright, we called the vet but thought as it was a Saturday we’d have no luck getting an appointment. Within 10 minutes of our initial call, we got a call back from the vet who organised medication to be available for immediate collection. Already we’re seeing a difference in him and can’t thank Aurora Vets enough!

Positive experience: We only have started using Aurora during lockdown so I guve 4 stars purely due to the fact we haven't actually been able to see the facility itself. But if the experience we have had through the car park consultation system is anything to go by, the vets are friendly, competent and calming. We have always felt that our dog is safe visiting here. Little pricey but I think that is just a vet thing rather than anything untoward with Aurora.

Fantastic experience: We changed vet from Inverurie even we living here as i was fed up keep taking my dog there and she was always frightened. Also they gave her antibiotics for her inflamed ears when tge issue started again after about a month luckily we changed and my dog wasn't frightened after doctor took her out than he offered to give her the usual ear cleaner with anti inflammatory medicine in it to treat her with that to avoid the use of antibiotics so often! It did help, no issues since than! Also i got so much advice in one visit than never got during 1.5 years in Inverurie! Many thanks again!

Fantastic experience: I can't tell you how great this team is. I have had two cats with them for four years who they have looked after so well and I don't just mean handing out medicine I mean that you can tell they really care! Today was one of the worst days for me being a pet owner, my six month old puppy broke his leg. Aurora clinic reception staff made sure to get a vet to call me even though they were completely fully booked, doing so while being super friendly as always I am sorry I never catch a name but I know you are all amazing on that front desk! One of the amazing vets that work in the clinic, Sarah, got my pup in to be seen, In the most kind and caring way scooped my puppy up and took him off to get fixed up, due to covid they have to come back outside and tell you what is happening, it wasn't good news but again as I bawled like a crazy woman in the carpark Sarah comforted and reassured me while explaining what happens next, honestly I am so glad I am registered with these guys. I left a 5 star review (just adding the comment) a while ago before my emergency trip to see them today and I can tell you for sure if I could give another 5 star review today I would they never fail, I've seen a few vets here and honestly they really are all amazing. I really hope this reviews helps someone get the best care for their pets as I get while being a client of Aurora Vet Clinic.
