Vets For Pets Ipswich Martlesham

Negative experience: I am genuinely surprised that this practice has a 4.8-star rating. My two dogs (now aged 6 and 7) were registered here for around two years, having previously been with other V4P practices across London. Although this is one of the less busy practices we’ve attended, the experience has consistently been disappointing. The reception staff, in particular, have been repeatedly rude and abrasive. On more than one occasion, written responses from reception were so unprofessional (that I complained - something I've never done before) and the practice owner had to call me personally to apologise. It’s unacceptable that communication reaches that point before being addressed. The most concerning issue arose when one of my dogs required investigations for blood in his urine. I was told I would receive a call within two hours with the results. No call ever came. I had to chase the practice approximately five times before the results were eventually relayed to me (by a nurse) - poorly explained and, as I later discovered through another veterinary practice, incorrectly communicated. That level of inaccuracy and lack of follow-up is deeply worrying when it concerns an animal’s health. As a result, I chose to move to another practice, as I did not feel confident entrusting them with my dog’s further investigations and eventual surgery, when even a basic urinalysis could not be communicated properly. I also could not face further interactions with the reception team. No client should feel anxious about simply collecting flea and worm medication, particularly when it’s a paid service. The reception team make the process feel unnecessarily difficult - and I'm fully aware of the companies policy around collecting routine preventative treatments, (as I used to work for the company myself), and this team guard it like it's a Class A drug! Odd! Overall, the lack of professionalism, poor communication and dismissive attitude have left me extremely disappointed and I'm not willing to deal with poor attitude from front of house staff - when their only job is to achieve customer satisfaction.

Fantastic experience: Amazing vets! My dog Angelo is basically a regular at this point and he always gets such great care whenever he has to go in. All the staff are so kind and helpful, the vets have all been so knowledgable and have been quick to see Ange when we've been worried about him. They even helped us with the process of getting him to Japan for heart surgery. Their pricing is reasonable compared to other vets and they've been quick on insurance claims. I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a vet in the area!

Fantastic experience: I have never found a vet as compassionate and understanding. Every member of staff, nurses, technicians, vets and the reception team are genuine, warm and sincere in their love for animals. Joe is amazing and clearly chose this profession because he cares deeply for animals and my pets definitely sense his warm and caring disposition. They are very competitive and very reasonable with pricing and nothing is too much. I want to extend my heart felt appreciation for this incredible team.

Negative experience: DISGUSTING!! I was a regular client however how my dog was treated over the weekend was beyond unacceptable!! We have let slide the fact she had wounds from where she was shaved for scans and clipper burns (no apology given!) but at the weekend we were turned away and told to give our dog paracetamol after she snapped her leg! The receptionist was rude and didnt care about our dog and we were turned away with a dog screaming in pain in the back of our truck unable to use her leg! Disgusting service with no care for pets! I will not be returning and advise others to avoid. Edit* as I can’t reply to the business response below which is not correct at all!! I will be making an official complaint and taking this matter further. We were not seen by a vet we were seen by an unbothered receptionist who said to for paracetamol to the dog who was screaming in pain int he back of the truck! They refused to see her! She needed to be seen immediately! We have since gone to a new vets and they have said all the treatment provided by this practise is wrong and unacceptable she should have been seen immediately and taken in for surgery. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Fantastic experience: Friendly staff they certainly know about pets etc

Negative experience: Don’t register your pet here, they are ‘very busy’ and didn’t give my pet the time that it needed, my dog was mis-diagnosed after 3 visits and seeing 3 different vets there and given the wrong treatment, front of house staff unprofessional and borderline rude, lack compassion and clearly have no training in bereavement, out of hours service is in Manningtree and never again will I be registered with a franchised corporate company, send an email of complaint and never received a reply!

Negative experience: Dont even bother going here unless you have insurance... they are not interested. Waited nearly a week with a cat with an open wound, only to be quoted 3 times the price I was told during the consultation.

Fantastic experience: They look after my cat quite well. I'm updating this 4 years after leaving my first review. Our cat is now across the "rainbow bridge", she had excellent care including successful surgery for cancer 1.5 years ago. They were very compassionate this week when she had to go in for the final time.

Fantastic experience: We have been taking our elderly Siamese cat to Vets4Pets since shortly after the COVID outbreak started, and the vets and staff there have looked after her so well. They have been kind, compassionate and really professional throughout her time in their care.

Fantastic experience: We switched to here from the Ipswich Vets4Pets after several times we had advice we really weren't happy with and we're so happy we switched to here. All the vets are nice and informative, we feel listened to and they take into account our opinions rather than just jumping to the first conclusion. Multiple times I've been able to return an unused pack of medication for money back when it's turned out we didn't end up needing them. Reception is very friendly, they definitely go the extra mile and our dogs usually get a little treat from them too.

Fantastic experience: FINALLY a vet that cares about our small pets, and is actually knowledgeable. My ferret was about 5yrs old when I took him here. He was diagnosed with insulinoma at our previous vet and a very serious tumour on his kidneys. He was given 5 months to live. He was on multiple medications. He began getting a bit ill so we bought him here. The vet took him off all his medications apart from one. Blood tested him, and scanned him (for free out of their curiosity). They said there is a growth on his kidneys but it is not cancerous or anything to worry about. They gave him lots of cuddles and were not afraid of him at all. (He was a very loving ferret and gave kisses to everyone. It was very sad our other vet treated him like a vicious, scary animal. These vets were absolutely wonderful and loved snapping pics of him). My previous vet held him down and had a little object hit his eyeball repeatedly to see what was wrong. This vet said he is simply going blind due to his age. I cannot believe the respect and dignity they give out pets here. It is outstanding. Thanks to these vets and check-ups, my dear baby boy lived until 9 and passed away with me at home. I cancelled his meds due to his passing and they sent me a card which also goes towards growing a tree in my sweet Snowballs memory. My ferret was treated with love, respect, kindness, and lots of knowledge. I would never take my babies anywhere ever again. You gave us 4 extra years together. I am forever thankful to your entire staff.

Fantastic experience: The vets here were extremely helpful for our mini dachshund. He was suffering from gum infection and needed a number of teeth removed. The price quoted was much better than elsewhere so would highly recommend coming here.

Fantastic experience: Just joined due to being recommended by friend and Johan was so lovely and took his time to explain things along with an understanding that we don’t have pet insurance or lots of money. He reassured us and even said he would come in on his day off if needed which is so kind and amazing I wished we had moved to this practice sooner.

We had a huge shock when a bill we thought would be under £100 came to £230. Just let the customer know to save the shock or possible embarrassment at the reception after.

Fantastic experience: Called first thing in the morning with a potential problem with my cat. Receptionist was very polite and helpful. I was advised that a vet would be able to assess my pet but as I did not have an appointment I may need to wait until one became available. Once I had arrived I waited no more than 15 mins to see the Vet. The Vet was very helpful, checked my pet thoroughly, explained what procedure was required, also ran through any costs that would be involved and explained fully the whole procedure to me. My pet required a little procedure that was carried out later the same day, received a telephone call from the Vet to advise all had gone well and my pet was able to be collected. They also dealt with the insurance claim directly so absolutely no hassle for me at all. I was very grateful and extremely pleased with the service that we received.

Negative experience: Booked appointment for my cats booster vaccine after being told it was overdue and he would need to restart. Got to reception at the time of the appointmentto be advised they made an error and isn't due for his booster until June. My poor cat gets so distressed being in the carrier and the journey. No call at all to say they'd made a mistake. Not at all happy.

Fantastic experience: After being at a different vets for the past 6 years and then having no interest in my dog other than to charge unaffordable prices. My mother in law recommended vets for pets martlesham and I was fitted in an hour after phonecall and affordable procedure recommended And carried out the following week

Negative experience: really dissatisfied. staff were rude unhelpful and administered medication without explaining options first or even completing a full examination of affected area. will be changing vets ASAP. They have also carried out many tests that were unnecessary and painful for my dog. Not to mention the cost.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic Vets, and all the staff at this practice are so helpful and caring, I know that all my furkids will always be well cared for and they take the time to explain everything thats going on with your furkids health and treatment, I have never felt rushed and always felt confident in leaving my furkids in their care.

Negative experience: I will never buy another pet from Pets at Home or be asked to used Vets 4 Pets at Martlesham and would never recommend them to my animal loving friends. Sold 2 baby rabbits, both died after 4 weeks in our care, and we are an experienced small animal family, Pets at Home did the right thing and refunded us, but Vets 4 Pets who we were asked to book with to bring them in charged us over £100 cremation costs and said they were going to take legal action to recoup that cost. Very imorrale company. Please avoid.

Fantastic experience: My rabbit was showing signs on gi statis, his normal vet couldn't fit him in he would of gone on a waiting list, I called you guys at off chance he could be squeezed in as I didn't want to wait as this can be fatal to rabbits, he was fitted in, given treatment, sent home with medication, vet checked him over and explained everything to me The cost wasn't as bad as I thought I loved the fact there was a price list in waiting area to give you idea of what to expect and I love the fact there is 2 separate waiting areas for dogs and small animals to reduce stress for the animals as much as possible Would definitely come back if needed

They saved her life during an emergency when she developed unexpected pyometra at only a year old, and if it hadn't been for Thier swift intervention she would not be alive. They provided all the help and support needed to claim through our insurers and it was all very easy to do. Everytime we have needed Cady to see a vet they have always accommodated us and fixed what every problem or aliment she had.

Lola is an older dog with some potential health issues, Bonnie was both supportive and realistic with her advice.

Fantastic experience: We booked an appointment with Jo ,who is the only professional qualified to serve a health document for taking an animal abroad.He was so helpful and knowledgeable .The documents were received promptly too,bearing in mind our normal vet practice is in Ipswich who unfortunately didn't have anyone to complete the documents and so Jo helped us by agreeing to see our dog ,thereby enabling us to travel again with our pet.Thanks to Jo for all his time as this is now a very lengthy complicated process.

Fantastic experience: Faultless. Modest prices and polite friendly humorous staff. I saw a notice stating they were not taking on any new clients at the moment which is an indication of their popularity. Also the Store has a very comprehensive range of products.

Positive experience: Very outdated hamster care knowledge, hamsters need bare minimum 80x50cm, and the vet here seemed very surprised when i showed my bare minimum enclosure. The receptionist wasnt that kind and kept making us worry and worry, which wasnt very helpful in the situation.

Fantastic experience: They all remember my French bull dog Freddie whenever we come in. They are SO reassuring. The practice is spotlessly clean, extremely friendly and calm staff and just the best vets around, I wouldn’t take my 3 pets anywhere else.
