Vets4Pets - Ipswich: Reviews
Negative experience: If you’ve ever wondered what a veterinary clinic looks like when commercial talent confidently outweighs medical knowledge — welcome. The examination of your pet here seems to be a mere formality before the main event: reviewing the list of paid procedures. Basic diagnostic questions appear to cause confusion, yet additional tests and “urgent” services are offered with remarkable confidence. One can’t help but feel that a pet owner’s anxiety is viewed as a resource to be efficiently converted into a bill. The information changes depending on who delivers it, giving the impression that internal consistency simply doesn’t exist. Any sense of professional reliability is entirely absent, though the price list, apparently, is known by heart. A special attraction is the reception desk. If you’ve ever wanted to test the limits of rudeness disguised as busyness and a “professional” tone, you’ll receive the full experience here. Customer orientation is likely listed under optional services and, judging by the experience, not included in the standard package. It’s deeply unfortunate that a place meant to help animals instead feels like a service sales point with medical décor. I sincerely hope that one day the priorities shift toward competence and genuine care, rather than revenue.

Fantastic experience: Excellent xx
Negative experience: DONT GO HERE !!!!! If I could give this vets minus I would. Please don’t take your animals here. We signed up to a care plan as our dog wasnt right and needed seeing to, we previously had a care plan with our prior vets4pets in Yeovil and they were fantastic. From the moment we went in there it felt like a money making situation with no actual care for the animals. We had said care plan and paid £70+ for a urine sample but a blood test on the plan was £45. How is a blood test cheaper than a urine test. We asked what it would be to cancel as we had only been signed up to the care plan one day. They advised us it would be £60 to cancel. I would have assumed there was a cooling off period. PLEASE IF THIS IS A WARNING DONT GO HERE !!!! We had a receptionist standing over us trying to be intimidating, she even said I won’t stand over you and make you feel intimidated the fact she said this sent off alarm bells. Also when said receptionist came over my dog was absolutely terrified and shaking. Never again will I ever go to a vets4pets which is a shame as our last ones were amazing. We have signed up with a new vets in Hadleigh who seem to genuinely care about the animals. We paid £80 yesterday for nothing just so we could walk away. This is a money making scheme. We didn’t even really get an in depth result from her urine sample. We also didn’t get a receipt for anything we had. Appalling service , communication.

Fantastic experience: first time taken scruff my guinea pig here. very friendly staff and vet was great with my animals
Fantastic experience: Looked after my big boy Obi in life. I can't praise them enough for their help in his sudden death. Took paw prints and hair for me to keep. Sent handwritten card. Received his ashes back with individual cremation assurance certificate. If I get to love another furry family member, I would 100% go back there.
Negative experience: Absolutely disgraceful…. My wife brought our pet rat in for weight loss. Was told that he had a mass in his stomach area. It was decided that he should be put to sleep to stop the suffering etc.. my wife was left with our pet so she could say good bye etc and literally 60 seconds later the receptionist came in and asked for payment before they could do anything…. You’re joking . My wife paid £174 and they just brought his body out and she left… nobody even looked at her as she left…. We queried the bill and was over charged £35 for things that hadn’t been done. Vets for pets only interested in your money… nothing else. We have put our other pets on the books of another vets and will never go near this lot again…. I suggest if you want to be treated like a human which ever pet you have go elsewhere. If I could have given these no stars then I would have
Fantastic experience: Took my cats to pets for vet to have a neutered and chipped they took really good care of my cats I was highly recommend pets for vets surgery
Negative experience: Vets here are amazing. reception staff are more interested in thier own social conversations between themself and the other receptionist, and being passive aggressive towards clients. so ive had a few appts here the last few months and allie the receptionist always seems to be snappy and passive aggressive. im glad today was the last time i ever have to go there because i dont know if i could keep biting my tongue. wont ever be going back there !

Negative experience: Don't bother took my dog in needed a must have operation which she didn't need £800 later and two days later she needed another one which was urgent when I said I couldn't afford the £2500 all of a sudden she would be ok without it turns out she was fine shame on them

Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic staff from reception to the vets
Fantastic experience: Had a really good experience with vets4pets at Hanford rd. The receptionist I have dealt with is very efficient (not sure of her name, dark hair tattoos, maybe polish?? I'm guessing ) , and the vet was really good (Mateusz). Helped my dog that has been experiencing rheumatology problems, options completely explained and felt I was listened to. Very appreciated, thanks .
Negative experience: Tried to book my dog in for yearly booster ,despite me being on the monthly plan which includes vaccinations, I was told I needed to pay £30 deposit!, I don't have £30 until pay day, what is the point of paying for a payment plan if I need to lend the vet £30. I am looking into changing vets.

Fantastic experience: Very polite friendly staff vet consultants have always been very helpful with our animal appointments. Bearing in mind at one point we had 2 dogs 2 cats and 3 rabbits
Fantastic experience: Went in to have the nails trimmed on my pet rabbit which is an impossible task at home. I was seen too quickly and my rabbits nails got trimmed quickly and with minimal stress caused.
Negative experience: Been with the practice for my cat for long time actually they were the first vets to take care of our cat and we kept untill the date with them! The vets and people running the appointments are lovely at least I have no issue untill date... The problem lies in the same as many money grabbing companies that make you pay absurd fees for their own incompetence! We booked an appointment that was part of our care plan and missed as there was no warning message as request on the day.... Now they wanted to charge more money on top of the monthly care plan which is already 15£ per month... I do understand that the appointment could have gone for someone else but to ask for 60£ or 70£ extra for a small care plan that we only have used to manage the nail growth and deworm our cat here and there is actually not enough for them Called them up today again and they said they had still to charge as there was lots of cancellations but not only me but a lot of people... So basically they make you pay for appointments that you missed without caring for the customer that paid them a lot of money over so many years! Lost my loyalty as I would prefer to pay more but with someone that would have in consideration the custom and at least take time to raise the issue!!

Fantastic experience: Set up a pet plan very friendly staff
Fantastic experience: Took my two dachshunds to have the yearly check up and vaccinations. Add a new vet They are always so friendly and make our dogs so at ease when they do things. Would never go anywhere else
Negative experience: I rang the vets to make an appointment for my dog to have a check up as I am concerned about a lump that has appeared on her leg. Tried to book for Sat 26 as that is my pay day only to be told that I can't make an appointment unless i pay a £30 deposit at the time of booking. I pay for a monthly care plan that includes a free vet consultation which I haven't used yet so the appointment would effectively be free anyway. As I don't have £30 until payday I was unable to make an appointment!! Whilst I understand that people fail to turn up to prebooked appointments vet should not be allowed to penalise all customers and effectively refuse vet care if unable to pay a deposit at the time of booking. It is also the principle that I take exception too. This policy change is unacceptable.

Fantastic experience: Recently took my old boy for a injection the vet was lovely the reception ladies were helpful and the prices are very reasonable
Fantastic experience: Good and respected our needs at the sad time xx
Fantastic experience: Fantastic practice! And worth over 50 miles round trip for us; they're ALWAYS incredibly friendly & caring while surprising affordable. When it comes to our border collie & mongerel terrier, they now enjoy going to the vets! We count the fabulous (mostly) ladies at the Ipswich Vets4Pets practice in our wider animal family, supporting us in the best & worst times... ❤️
Negative experience: Do not touch this vets!!!! They have been pumping my cat with steroids for years costing my thousands of pounds for something that could have been fixed for £14 . Inexperienced money grabbing vets im shocked and so disappointed

Fantastic experience: My daughter's 1st dog and her dogs 1st jabs , very welcoming and polite, vet also very pleasant and gave her lots of information on care for her dog , fully health check and was all good.
Fantastic experience: Its a pleasure to work with the vets they are professional and go over and above by answering some questions and giving good practical advice. Staff are friendly they generate a warm atmosphere the moment you step foot at the practice they always smiling, helpful and give reminders about appointments . I love going there.
Negative experience: The vets is local to my house in Ipswich. I took my dog here to be spayed. It was arranged very quickly. However on the day of the operation I was told that pre blood works would be an additional £80 to the £355 already charged which is quite a lot in comparison for an 18kg breed of collie. I paid the additional fee to make sure. I was also telephoned just before the operation to say they had found a lump and that it would cost an additional £200 to aspirate i. I agreed to the fee waited patiently worried out of mind whilst helping her to heal at home. I phoned a week later to be informed that the result had been lost and to bring her back in. My dog is petrified of the vets and also healing from a major surgery so I thought perhaps not the best time. The vet nurse Abbie is an absolute credit and my dog phoebe really warmed to her and I will say that she has recovered well from surgery and wanted to thank the surgeon and nurses but overall I am not pleased with hidden costs, losing results and I have constant anxiety that something is wrong with my dog. I will be taking her to another vet when she is healed.
Fantastic experience: We came here whilst we were away at Christmas so not able to go to our usual vets4pets. We saw Sandra who was so lovely to our puppy and very reassuring. She answered all the questions we had and gave us sound advice which helped our puppy recover.
Positive experience: Cat does not like the place but I found it clean, airy and staff very attentive
Fantastic experience: Very impressed with the time they spent with us explaining our choices of treatment for our lovely cat George. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: Same day appointment, friendly staff and a fair price to have a puppy vaccinated and chipped. Highly recommend. Waiting area in need of a makeover, alot of wear and tear
Fantastic experience: The vet service is amazing! They have lovely staff and the vets/ nurses are helpful with sound advice.
Fantastic experience: Thank you for amazing service
Fantastic experience: Could actually help me directly but gave me great advice over the phone
Fantastic experience: Wonderful vets. They have been so kind to my Mums little dog and have continued to be kind and treat her well. Good bedside manner with the animals, they really do care for them.
Fantastic experience: Took my Ragdoll Cat to the vets for the first time he was very poorly thought I was goin to lose him but he had one injection to stop him being sick an now his all better an eating an drinking amazing vets an friendly staff I will b using it again an they were gentle to my cat can't thank them enough ❤️ they saved my precious cat
Fantastic experience: I cannot thank the team at Vets4Pets enough for the way they handled putting my gorgeous dog Beau to sleep. She became ill very quickly and it was clear the best thing to do was say goodbye. The vet was closing in 30minutes but luckily I don't live too far. The vet talked me through everything that was going to happen and everything they were doing as they did it. They were kind and clear about what needed to happen and I appreciate their honesty and quick response. I miss Beau immensely but am so appreciative of the paw prints the team did for me. Thank you all so much.
Negative experience: Unfortunately I cannot give zero stars. Very poor service from the snotty receptionist, chief vet and manager. Couldn’t care less about the health of the animal as long as they get ££££. Would never use them again and would go out of my way to warn others of their poor practices. AVOID at all costs
Fantastic experience: Great service wonderful vet everything you need as a pet owner underone roof
Fantastic experience: The vet and all other staff were very helpful and friendly made our visit very relaxed.
Fantastic experience: Went in for click and collect, didn't have to wait long, staff friendly
Fantastic experience: Ipswich vets4pets are amazing! Always so helpful and friendly!! My previous cats were with them before I had to rehome them unfortunately. But I was straight back when I got Hugo! And couldn’t be more happy!
Fantastic experience: We were seen very quickly, everything was explained properly and the staff were all very kind in a very stressful situation.
Fantastic experience: My dog Max had hurt he’s leg he was crying in pain.I called the vet straight away. You could hear my dog’s crying over the phone. The lady at reception was very concerned and said to bring max up asap we went in my Frend’s car the vet was very helpful personally and explained that my dog had to have X-rays on he’s legs. To find he has severe arthritis in both and inflammation in his front right paw of them which is why is was painful the vets were more than helpful getting him in and out the car thank you so much
Fantastic experience: Although unable to help me at the time veterinarian Ellie was so helpful and supportive. She took the time to go through things with me and listened to my concerns. Wonderful service, thank you.
Fantastic experience: They are always so welcoming and friendly the surgery is always clean and tidy , they put you at ease right away and explain everything I need to know
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, feel my pet is very safe and looked after everytime I come
Fantastic experience: First visit, very friendly staff and willing to help when available and very happy on my visit here. Highly recommended to come here.
Negative experience: Absolutely disappointed with the receptionist and the whole customer service. Have been messed around for no reason at all. Rude attitude and no customers skills whatsoever. If this company doesn’t want a pay customer than I can go to a different vet for my pet. I have had good experience with this Vet company but in different city, so clearly this is poor choice of people. Don’t have any comment if comes to actual vet as my pet didn’t even seem one. I could give zero stars if that would be an option. Totally disappointment. I wouldn’t recommend you to even try to make any appointments there. Choice of vets is big and for the same price or even cheaper you can get better treatment not only for your pet but also better attitude towards you. Avoid
Negative experience: Not the best experience the staff was rude and not willing to explain anything. It's only an X ray under GA but as a nurse myself (for human) it's important they tell us the risks of GA. it's not right they don't explain or care about how some people my need support with the insurance etc. Especially when overcharging.
Negative experience: Very miserable rude vet today, spent hundreds of pounds here and expect better. Will see my dog’s treatment out then change vets . Saw a different vet here yesterday and was totally different attitude and pleasant and helpful, but damage now done as not the first time I’ve been unhappy with the attitude. If I could give zero stars I would, absolutely disgusting treatment and total rip off
Fantastic experience: Excellent Very good value with lovely staff Highly recommended Colin and Marmalade
Fantastic experience: Yearly injection of my dogs lifetime health check looked after excellently would recommend vets for pets to care for your loved one..
Fantastic experience: The staff are very friendly I’ve got a very frightened dog and they all make her fill at ease
Fantastic experience: Very nice staff, starting from reception to the nurse and vet. I came a day earlier for post op check up as I made a mistake on dates, but the girls were so kind and made sure my Toby was seen anyway. I am very happy with all of them and highly recommend this place for your pet! Everyone went above and beyond! Thank you! Xx
Fantastic experience: Always so friendly and welcoming. Nothing is ever too much trouble.
Fantastic experience: They took good care of my dog rebel till the end and I'm so pleased to have them take care of rocco they are such a lovely team and nothing is ever to much when it comes to caring for are pets even though covid you are all amazing and wonderful thank you on behalf of rocco and the belated rebel xx
Fantastic experience: The last 4 months they’ve been amazing, my boy is only 6 got a severely infected abscess behind a lump he already had he was very very poorly but Sandra and the team done everything they possibly could to get buddy better even looked after him extremely well post op too. So thankful for everything they did!
Fantastic experience: We are always happy with our visits as they know our dog well
Fantastic experience: Very impressed with the professionalism of all the staff I met. I especially want to mention the helpfulness of the receptionist Tammy Morton, who booked the original appointment and then was abke to offer me an earlier appointment due to a cancellation. She was also very helpful when booking the 2nd vaccination appointment and explaining the flean and worm treatment and setting up the care plan.
Positive experience: Very friendly service with good appointment availability. My only disappointment was the cost, seems very expensive but I suspect all vets charge extortionate prices.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff Peewee is a vey nervous Cat but the nurse made him feel at ease very satisfied with the help and the info it always nice to see such friendly faces
Negative experience: Extortionately high cost 1. to SEE vet 2. to have swabs tested (5 minutes) 3. for ear drops that cost a quarter of the price online £151 to see vet and get ear drops and wash
Fantastic experience: The team were brilliant from the get go. The nurse we spoke to in the morning - was extremely friendly and calming which was nice as we were a little worried about leaving our dog. The procedure was quicker than we expected and the receptionist who called was lovely. Overall, for it being a daunting procedure for not only us but our dog, the service was brilliant. Thank you all so much.
Fantastic experience: We were stuck in traffic so obviously something happened on the roads somewhere. Being courteous we rang to say we may be few mins late.. ( 3 mins actually for 1st appt but 7 mins early for 2nd appt) But we were made to wait over an hour in car park. For a 10 min appt. Vet was really nice though..
Fantastic experience: Wonderfully caring and attentive vets, helping myself and my very poorly elderly kitty through a stressful and emotional time; with understanding and excellent knowledge. Would highly recommend to all.
Fantastic experience: Our beloved Squeaky was tragicly hit by a car and killed. We took him to Vets 4 Pets to be identified. They were incredible. They sent us a card of condolances containig vial of his hair and took paw prints for us and made a donation to a charity in his name. It broke us! I cant put into words what this means to me and my wife. We are both so grateful. Thank you x
Fantastic experience: Lovely Staff. Very helpful and kind. 5☆ vets.
Fantastic experience: Rang at 8:30, and was given a 10:30 appointment, due to Covid19, saw the vet in the car park, explained my dogs symptoms. Dog was then taken inside for treatment, and she had grass seed in her ear. Which was removed, she had an infection, so had a blood test, and she was handed back in the car park, with her follow up ear drops all fully explained. I paid once home, with a debit card, and received an email receipt. Given the times we are all living in, fabulous service given in a very different world, can never fault vets4pets ordinarily, but they surpassed themselves this time
Positive experience: Good place to see a vet. Try to make you wear a mask. But Hay ho
Fantastic experience: I took my baby boy Tyson to vets4pets as previous veterinary i took him too did not treat Tyson correctly. The vet4pets vet treated my boy and us with respect and compassion, although the out come was heartbreaking, I'm so thankfully to the vet for the respect, compassion and care shown to my precious boy.
Negative experience: With them for around 1year receptionists are lovely and very friendly some of the vets/nurses are but have had a couple that have been rude/blunt so for this reason I have left and gone elsewhere
Positive experience: Not a happy reason for visiting, our much loved indoor bunny Gremlin passed away after having 9 lovely year's with her. For the first time since Covid started we were invited inside, they couldn't have been any kinder & more helpful in getting us exactly what we wanted to put Gremlin's ashes in after her cremation. We sort of felt they had a bit of making up to do & did think long & hard about what to do. They let us down badly last year when we needed an emergency appointment, we ended up having to go to the only vet's that would take an emergency from another vet's, unfortunately it all took time & ultimately our rabbit's life was lost. Our newest 2 rabbit's are however with a different veterinary practice. We did receive a condolence card which was nice of them, just a shame they didn't realise Gremlin was female, & referred to her as he & him. So, I guess it's swing's & roundabout's. If you want cheap, they're one of the cheapest, if you want good service, yes it's OK, but I must say the care we are getting from our new vet's is superb, everything explained clearly, you know exactly what's going on. But make your own mind up & if you're not happy, don't be too worried to move to a different vet's, your pet deserves the best
Negative experience: Not the first time I have issues ordering medication from them over the phone, but most recently they have given out medication which was meant for a different dog. Luckily I checked the box at home before administering it. Needed to return then wait again for the correct medication to be ordered and received. Vets4Pets Ipswich is falling short of providing a good service. Also as a side note, not sure why the clients are still not allowed at their reception - waiting area and why we have to stand outside on the street and pay for medications. When all COVID restrictions had been long gone, so why do they still maintain complete social isolation?
Positive experience: I went to have a second opinion and vet was friendly and helpful and answered my questions Unfortunately I didn't get the answer I was hoping for. I thank her for seeing me. The lady on the front desk was helpful and friendly too
Positive experience: The rescue dog I adopted needed some dental treatment (paid for by the Blue Cross). She was treated kindly and with care and made no fuss a about going today for her check up. The only thing against them, as I can see, is that owners are not allowed inside the building - even with masks on. You have to wait in your car and a nurse comes out to collect and return your pet, even when it's pouring with rain. All of the members of staff I came into contact with were very friendly and helpful and their prices are competitive.
Fantastic experience: The staff are so caring and compassionate here, would recommend vets 4 pets for other bunny owners.
Fantastic experience: Great friendly reliable advice and support with well explained instructions on how to look after your pet.
Fantastic experience: Took my chihuahua for his booster injection ,very friendly staff I love my dog going there
Fantastic experience: Great vets practice, the staff ate lovely and Sandra is amazing
Fantastic experience: Was seen within half an hour of my call. Monty thoroughly checked over and treated above and beyond. So grateful. He was clearly in a lot of pain and is recovering well
Fantastic experience: Best place for all your pets needs. Including a Bets 4 Pets and a dog grooming parlour located inside. Loy
Fantastic experience: Lovely people who work here car park could be a little bigger as sometimes its very full and then you have no where to park but other than that its a lovely place
Fantastic experience: Nurse came out to carpark and took the dogs she was very friendly and our 2 dogs were happy to go with her. She told us after the consultation and booster they were happy with them and our little one had a little wee on the vet.
Fantastic experience: As it is covid times it is how it's got to be but that is ok, I think £12.50 is a bit harsh for nail clipping though
Fantastic experience: Very satisfied with the service. Thank you for successful operation for our Russian dwarf hamster
Fantastic experience: My dog is happy to visit the vets here and I like him to be a happy boy
Fantastic experience: Your nurse Lucy is a credit to Vets4Pets. She is friendly, efficient, caring and informative.
Fantastic experience: I have nothing but praise, for all team at the vets. Reception is fantastic, and Sandra is world class, thank you for all your care with my pets. Steven.
Fantastic experience: The nurse I spoke with was informative, friendly and clearly had my pets best interest at heart, really lovely reception from you all. Also on calling for general concerns the receptionist was empathetic and clear and made me feel confident that my pet was fine.
Fantastic experience: Really felt like they cared couldn't go inside but answer all questions kindly and professional
Negative experience: I have been a member for my 2 pets for about 7 years and it has not been a great experience. Them forgetting I’m in the waiting room and having to wait over 40 mins on more than a few appointments. Then them Forgetting to send or missing medication. Recently my cat was really ill and I have been struggling for money since the lockdown. I asked if there was anything they could do to help my cat or a payment plan I could set up as I had no money for the next 3 days and they refused to help unless I could pay the 3 figure sum that it would cost that they said it would cost to save her. I had to go elsewhere for the help and they helped her for a fraction of the cost. They would have rather let her suffer and die than give her the help she needed unless I could pay the extortionate price they were quoting. They are a money making business first and care for the animals secondly. Now I’m supposed to be happy paying for flea and worm treatment that they don’t send out. I can’t be bothered to keep calling to complain. I will be finding a new vets.
Fantastic experience: Always so friendly and help whenever I need it! look after my kitten so well, really happy here!
Fantastic experience: Was so worried Oscar really wasn't himself . They.were wonderful with him. Turned out to be a loose tooth!
Fantastic experience: Very nice people very friendly and always there to help you if you need it with animals
Fantastic experience: The booking process was easy and upon arrival covid measures were in place and carried out very professionally. We were told to wait in our car and the vet came to collect our dog. I felt this was very sensible given the current situation. The vet was very friendly and professional and gave us full explanations on the health of our dog and how to use the treatments for fleas and worming. The vet also showed a great interest in our dog and gave us some good training tips. Overall I left with a really good feeling about Vets 4 Pets.
Fantastic experience: All the staff are friendly and helpful. Appointments are on time and the vets are thorough and caring.
Fantastic experience: Felt that vet was very interested in my cat and took the time to ask me all about her health.
Fantastic experience: The young man was very nice and explained everything to me as he knew I was worried about my kitten being spayed made me feel more relaxed
Fantastic experience: I've been using Vets4Pets for a couple of years now, and cannot recommend them enough. Really friendly and knowledgeable staff. Proper value for money. 100% recommend to anyone
Thanks for your kind words Steve.
Fantastic experience: Vet was interested in my new puppy and asked questions about him, very kind and obviously experienced with young dogs. Couldn’t fault all questions answered and concerns dealt with
Thanks Sandy, we love meeting new puppies!
Positive experience: All members are so friendly. I always feel comfortable leaving my pet there
Glad you find us friendly.
