Fantastic experience: This is based on my first visit here Easy to find Plenty of parking by the surgery, and off road parking is available The staff were friendly and well informed Very thorough check up on my cat, and the vet was really friendly Prices I would say are probably standard for the industry? Overall, very happy

Fantastic experience: After a bad and disrespected appointment at the rspca, I decided to take my missy to ashcroft and pay full price for a different vet to see her. And what a big difference it was, the reception lady's were lovely pointed me in the right direction and very understanding ill be forever greatful for your kindness, also there was 2 vet ladies my missy saw 1 at ashcroft and 1 at barns copdock, a big thank you for making us feel comfortable in missy's last few days. They spoke with missy and offered her little treats made her feel comfortable, even when she called missy though missy followed with her tail wagging, it was really nice to see There was 1 thing I didn't like and that was when we went to Copdock to have missy pts our appointment time 5.10, we got there 5.08 missy was sniffing around, I was abit upset and was trying to get my breath to be able to take her in, by 5.12 they where calling me as I was walking through the door, that made me feel a little uncomfortable and rushed, To these vets and receptionist that helped me a huge thank you big respect to you :-)

Fantastic experience: My dog had eaten a sock and glove whilst on lead and was vomiting for a few days. After he brought them up he was still not eating. Took him to the vets and they were lovely. They examined him and was given some anti inflammatory paste to take. They are very patient at the vets and explained everything they were going to check. Vets are getting a bad rep due to costs but I love my boy and will do anything for him.

Fantastic experience: Reception staff are so helpful and friendly. Rob, the vet was also lovely and really handled my little girl well on our annual visit for vaccinations. Would recommend. NOVEMBER 2O25 - Returned again for out annual vaccinations and saw Rob who is so lovely. So good with people as well as animals. I like to see the same vet for continuity of care as my little one has a few back problems. He was very through and helpful with advice and guidance of how best to look after my dog. Would still recommend. Reception staff friendly, efficient and well organised.

Fantastic experience: The vet here really took the time, such a lovely guy. Really went the extra mile. The reception staff were brilliant.

Negative experience: If you truly care about your pet, avoid this clinic. Their focus seems to be on profit rather than animal welfare. Despite 14 visits, they failed to resolve my pet’s issues, which ultimately required intervention from another veterinarian to fix problems that this practice caused. If you care about your pet please please avoid.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic service! Will only use this for my animals. They’ve always been so friendly and accommodating, even when we called n Xmas eve they were happy to see my pet turkey, when all other vets refused. Called yesterday at 17:00 with an emergency and was being seen by 17:40. Boris is very grateful and so are we. Reasonable prices, honest and trustworthy. Would recommend 100%

Ahea James Posted on Google 10 months ago

Negative experience: Ridiculous service!! I registered with the surgery on Thursday and booked an appointment . Then they called and moved the appointment to next Tuesday and asked if my pet was born uk or not. My dog been in UK for 13.5 years eventho she was imported. Lady said ok. Now today they called me again and say due to she been imported they have to do a blood test before seeing the dog. Such a scam they are running when no other vets require this .

Fantastic experience: You guys are always great with Rosie and with us. Thank you for caring for our furr baby.

SJ Posted on Google 10 months ago

Negative experience: Owned by Independent Vet Care, the prices are obscene. Ear drops for my dog were £50 more expensive from here compared to online. They charge £28 prescription fee just to make getting them online that little bit more inaccessible. Consult is now expensive. Such a shame for vets out there that want to help animals, being brought out by big companies who care more about money than animals.

Angelikka Bond Posted on Google 11 months ago

Negative experience: Have to be honest.its tiny, the receptionists are very nice however the male vet could not have been less interested.Didnt look at the dog.just dismissed it as an elderly dog.She died the following morning. Not blaming anyone.A bit of compassion would have been nice. I now have a puppy, and going to a new vet.

Negative experience: I read all these reviews saying how wonderful this veterinary practice is and I wonder if we going to the same place as i’ve had problem after problem with them. I’ve had to go here probably 5 times so far this year and i’ve never had a great experience. I have a pet plan with them and I had a phone call saying I had to come in for boosters and a check up and asked if I could come tomorrow at 12.40 so I showed up the next day at 12.40 and the receptionist I spoke to had booked the wrong day. So after taking the day off work I was not impressed they expected me to do the same the next day with no apology just a rude woman making out it was my fault. I said can I have her flee and worm tablets then as you’ve been out of stock weeks and she’s over due, the woman told me no I have to have booster injections first. I left and then came back 5 mins later as I couldn’t understand why they would deny me a service I pay for ‍♀️ the woman argued with me, I got heated and another receptionist took over, apologised and gave me the tablets. Told me the other woman shouldn’t of put the tablets back in stock as I’d paid for them. I asked why she told me no and there was no explanation. I can only assume she was being spiteful because I wasn’t happy with the mix up in appointment, regardless of feelings the welfare of the dog should be at heart and don’t truly believe it is with all staff here, some staff care for the animals but others you can tell it’s a mundane 9-5 for them. Moving on to a more recent experience, my dog had a problem with her eye being gunky so naturally I took her in to be seen, they fit me in quickly and she was examined and treatment given (£97) that treatment made her eye progressively worse and I fully understand mistakes happen we only human. So I took her back to find out there is now scratches on her cornea more swelling and discomfort. More tests and more treatment given. Was told £170 thinking this is steep I asked for a breakdown in price, to then find out I was being charged twice for medicine so it was actually £140. Again 2 days later her eye is even worse so I stopped using the treatment and called the practice to ask their advice and was told a vet would call me back to discuss further. Well they called me back at 7.05pm on a Friday. By 3pm I realised they don’t care about my animal and I took her elsewhere to find out she had a seed in her eye, was given an eye wash and told to do facial massage and within 2 days her eye was back to normal, this service and treatment cost me £21. Take what you like from the above, but to me they just seem like they after money, premium rates not for premium care. I feel like a terrible owner putting my dog through unnecessary stress and discomfort for almost 5 days because I trusted this vets. Also id just like to add when I joined I thought this was a privately run clinic however it is owned by one of the big leader companies (ivc evidensia)

Negative experience: AWFUL VET! THE GUY CARED ABOUT MONEY ONLY & NOT THE WELLBEING OF MY DOG! DISMISSIVE OF MY CONCERNS, MY OBSERVATIONS, ALL HE WANTED WAS TO RACK UP AS MUCH OF A BILL AS POSSIBLE. SHE LOST FUR & WEIGHT HE RAN A COMB THROUGH, SAID SHE HAS FLEES & I NEED £50 MEDS. I TOLD HIM I DO NOT THINK SHE HAS AS THERE IS A LOT OF WEIGHT LOSS, NO SCATCHING AT WLL & I CHECKED FOR FLEESE & DIDN’T SEE ANY. HE SAID SHE TOLERATES THEM WELL & TO COME BACK FOR BLOOD TESTS AFTER FLEE TREATMENT IN 3 WEEKS. TOLD HIM IM WORRIED ABOUT HER TEETH ALSO, HE LOOKED & SAID THEY LOOK LIKE THEY NEED TO BE REMOVED & TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT IMMEDIATELY AS THERE IS AN OFFER ON. AGAIN I WANTED TO VOICE MY CONCERNS & I WAS SHUT DOWN, TOLD TO BOOK APPOINTMENT FOR £300 IMMEDIATELY TO GET THEM LOOKED AT THEN EXTRA TO PULL THEM OUT. THIS WEEK I TOK HER TO VETS4PETS INSTEAD & SHE HAS NO FLEES! NEEDS BLOOD TESTS, & TEETH CLEANING ONLY NO TEETH NEED TO BE REMOVED! SO MY GUT WAS RIGHT, MY DOG HAS HAD CARE DELAYED AND THE PRACTICE MADE ME PAY THR FEES ANYWAY, EVEN WHEN I CALLED TO SAY THAT I WAS RIGHT AND IT WASNT WHAT I WAS TOLD. receptionist ladies are lovely. Polite and kind and that is the only reason for the star. For them. The vet? No thank you. Waste of money and time

Yvette Hart Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Sadly after 25 years of taking my animals to the Barn Veterinary Practice I have left. Since being bought out by a big company, the service has gone downhill. They made my Greek foster dog Snow wait 3 weeks (in pain) with a ruptured cruciate ligament before she could have surgery, because they wanted a negative Brucella test. They then insisted on this again for another foster who had been in UK since 2019 and had a huge bladder stone. I took her to Trimley vets instead who treated her (including surgery) with no issues. A new foster arrived last Saturday, but this time I had him tested for Brucella prior to arriving in UK. He was negative and had paperwork to prove it, but the Barn wanted me to wait for 3 months and then have another test done by them before they would see him. Nowhere in the goverments DEFRA guidance does it stipulate that testing is a requirement before receiving veterinary care. This dog is paralysed, doubly incontinent, has infected sores on his rear legs and they wanted him to wait 3 months! Where's their compassion for animals? It would appear they are now more concerned with profit. So I took him to Ipswich Veterinary Centre, where he recieved the care I would expect from a vet. Such a shame that a lovely family run practice has been ruined by big business, such an incredible loss to vulnerable animals needing help.

Fantastic experience: Gorgeous staff and nice place. No stress for pet.

Tel Ager Posted on Google 1 year ago

Negative experience: Disappointed that they would not do a payment plan, and I had to pay up front. They seemed happy to potentially leave him with a cancerous lump on his back. I have mental health problems and am currently unemployed. They wouldn't try and help me in any way. I had to find the money £600 which to be honest, wasn't easy. I don't usually give bad reviews, but this is just how I feel, which is a little disappointed, and at the time, I felt quite useless. this was only my experience and my opinion use may well be different I hope you're sake it is

Fantastic experience: The vet was really nice and explained what was wrong with my pet .. the receptionist. It could be a bit more well coming

Simply Squish Posted on Google 1 year ago

Positive experience: I was ok with the consultation price but I had to pay £48 for ear drops which is absolutely extortionate. The area was very busy and I felt awkward disputing the price so I just paid it.

Negative experience: New phone system. Before when you rang if it was busy, the phone was engaged. Now you phone, it connects, puts you through, music on hold, then rings, states your on hold, then answer machine kicks in saying there is no one to take your call phone back. This means you have now paid for a phone call the basically means the phone line is busy. Sort it out please.

Maggi Miller Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: Been with The Barn Veterinary Surgery, Ashcroft Rd for over 14yrs. First with my Labrador Maddison and sadly, after her passing, no hesitation in registering Tilli-Mae my Shih Tzu. Just as before Tilli gets the utmost care. Appointments are generally available on the same day. There's always a warm welcome and the veterinary care, imo, is second to none. So much so that my Bengal, Storm is also registered with them. I want and expect the best care possible for my girls. That's why I use The Barn Veterinary Surgery, Ashcroft Road.

Fantastic experience: Very positive experience. (My dog may disagree) Reception staff were very helpful and friendly as was the female vet we saw. Welcoming, knowledgeable and efficient. In and out in no time. Many thanks.

Ceinwen Wilson Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: I hadn't completed the online registration form for joining the Pet Health Club before arrival at my kitten's first vaccination appointment and despite being very busy and the phone ringing, I found the receptionists to be calm and most helpful. One of them completed the form with me and all was done properly and in order. You receive a friendly and efficient service.

Dennis Barber Posted on Google 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: The visit was for the annual check up and vaccination, all completed with no problem, worming also done, a few questions also answered.

Danny White Posted on Google 2 years ago

Positive experience: Great friendly staff. Really care for your animals. Not a lot of parking on site but you can just park down the street if you can find space. There is a little toy and treat shop in the reception area too. They provide comfort towels in the reception for you to use if required. Seems expensive but that's probably all vets to be honest. Overall I recommend this vets practice for your beloved fluffies!

Fantastic experience: My dog got a grass seed in her ear and I phoned Barn vets whilst still on the walk. they fitted us in straight away so walked straight there. The reception staff are super friendly and helpful with a relaxed attitude and great customer interaction. 2 vets got the seed out without the need for further treatment and cost despite it having already reached her ear drum. Great job by some lovely people.

Fantastic experience: A really good first time visit, the vet was amazing. A good positive attitude and had a good laugh. Amazing feedback on tips and tricks in areas I'm not great at (putting a cat in the crate). I would highly recommend it to any pet owners. Receptionists are very friendly and supportive for all levels of pet owners (new to long term pet owners). Any questions you may have they'll give you the best answer that supports your needs and the pet's needs

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this vet practice after losing faith with my last vets this practice have more than restored it and they take such good care of my pets. Can not recommend they highly enough there after care is totally amazing also.

Jennifer Heale Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Staff here always friendly and efficient. Jeremy always deals with my cat Ted very kindly especially as Ted is a particularly grumpy animal

CloFloArts Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: Disgusted. A vet refused to see the family dog despite it being in pain. Evil.

Laura D Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: Poor customer service. As my pet is rarely ill they have archived his details. Staff provided poor information regarding out of hours surgery.

Keith Roberts Posted on Google 3 years ago

Positive experience: Friendly and sympathetic staff that understood totally that my dog did not want to be there so was not on his best behavior. Quick diagnosis and arrangement for treatment. Thanks everyone Skippy is back to normal...

Terence Burch Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: We have used the Barn Veterinary Practice for well over 20 years now. The staff are very friendly and efficient. Can’t think of a reason to go anywhere else.

James Geater Posted on Google 3 years ago

Positive experience: Friendly vets, our dog doesnt seem to mind it and goes in happily. Some of their protocols are quite strange and come across money grabbing. Management upwards also don't deal with things well. Had quite a bad experience where they just didn't understand and lacked empathy then topped it with some very bizzare excuses. They are lucky with the business they are in as most people are stuck between a rock and a hard place with most vets being pretty similar. Had some great experiences with the hands on vets who do a good job and I trust them which keeps us there.

Karen Norton Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Excellent practice, very friendly staff from the reception to the vets themselves. They have always been able to help and support. Care to all types of animals is paramount. Highly recommended.

Jayne Smith Posted on Google 3 years ago

carrie wilding Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Barn vets are fantastic! Warm and friendly staff and always so welcoming. Have been with them for well over 10 years and would never go anywhere else.

Karen Gentry Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: I was really happy, the vet saw me the same day even though I was not previously registered there, the receptionist was helpful in getting me registered, I felt reassured and confident of the treatment and advice given by the vet, I would recommend this vets practice, thank you

Gemma Howe Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: Have been with this vets for 6 years. Unfortunately have lost both my cats this year. I have asked for one to removed from the system yet still receiving texts reminding me to get his next flea treatment 4 months on. The other we brought in and the response from the vet when taking him from us was 'dead cat?' and just took him away This was already a very upsetting time and the lack of compassion here is awful, he wasn't just a cat to us he was family.

Toby Grant Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: Took in two kittens, one wasn't well and the other was fine but a precaution. The vet said that one was fine and treated them both for some reason? Charging me double what was needed. Turns out they didn't atchually do anything but charge me loads, kitten still Ill and they wanted me to pay again for another trip so they can rip me off. Vets aren't needed.

Judith Crisp Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Always brilliant service and friendly staff. We have had the pet plan service with our pet and find it very convenient.

Christine Cleary Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: I have used this practice for over 20 years.Very friendly and happy staff, they know there stuff. Pristine premises inside and out. Could not recommend ENOUGH. Love them

Joanne Kennell Posted on Google 3 years ago

Positive experience: This Veterinary Practice needs to update their phone line. I could hardly hear the lady on the other end. I have good hearing, but anyone hard of hearing would struggle to hear anything on their phone line. But the actual Practice is clean, hygienic and very well presented to visit with your poorly pets

Diana Murrell Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Always have the best treatment, we had to say goodbye to our Millie in June we had her cremated and she came back to us in beautiful casket ❤️

Steven Adcock Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great friendly vets. Always good service.

Christopher Spear Posted on Google 3 years ago

Negative experience: Horrendous vets - Vets dismissed any called for support with our dog. You’d be better off throwing your money away than attending. Doctor was very rude and dismissive.

Chris Cornwall Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Very helpful vet, interested in my cat and her history and sorted out the issue quickly for me. Before I've had vets who treated her as a piece of machinery rather than a living thing, not this time at this practice. Thank you!

Sarah Barry Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: I was advised "The Barn Vets" after another vet told me my pet couldn't be saved, and to take her home (no pain relief offered). About 3 days later I saw Jeremy at the Barn. He immediately put my girl on pain relief and antibiotics before getting her booked in for life saving surgery. She made a full recovery and was as happy as ever. All of my pets have always been treated with kindness and dignity by the whole team, warm and welcoming and will always make a fuss of your fur babies (including the reception team, who will go above and beyond to match you to the best vet for you)

Dilly G Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Always the most gentle care in moments of need for my furry fam, the times I’ve had to leave my little ones in their hands I know they will be cared for as much as in a home environment. I have had some of the worst moments of my life with the people working for Barn vets but thanks to them, my memories of those moments are heartbreakingly beautiful, soft, quiet and gentle. Can’t recommend them enough. I never experience them adding unnecessary costs, if anything might be optional or for me to decide they will let me make the decision before that extra injection or how to wrap a break or whatever it be. Always putting their patients first and it’s clear they are in this job for the love of those they are helping.

Amanda Holland Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great practice, open when all the others are closed!! Wonderful with all our pets, (including the nervous one.)

Terry O'Neill Posted on Google 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: We’ve been using The Barn Veterinary Practice on Ashcroft Road for the past 7 years for our Cocker Spaniel, Murphy. I’ve always found everyone at the practice so friendly and welcoming. Now Murphy is the sort of dog who thinks it’s funny to eat things he shouldn’t…such as cat poo, nappies, toffee apples, Sudafed etc etc etc and on the many occasions this has happened, the practice has always been very accommodating in being able to see him straight away. From our experiences at the practice, I would highly recommend them, particularly if your pet has an adventurous palate like Murphy.
