Fantastic experience: Friendly, efficient vets practice

Fantastic experience: We were extremely pleased with the way spa vets have looked after our beloved family dog poppy. They have all been so kind and considerate all the way through to poppy's end of life ... Thank you to you all for making things easier at what's been a very difficult time .

Fantastic experience: I have attended this vet's practice for nearly 50 years when Mr Stewart was the vet in charge. The staff have changed over the years but they have always been amazing, caring and trustworthy. I would not use another practice, the service here is second to none.

Fantastic experience: Extremely grateful for our visit today. Called with an emergency broken dew claw, we aren’t from the area but 15 minutes after calling them (out of hours late on a Saturday as well!!) I was in the vet registering. A extremely kind vet was so calming to me on the phone and in person. Extremely well priced given the circumstances! Perfect vet all round

Fantastic experience: Wonderful staff here at this surgery. Had both my cats looked after here. Sadly due to their old age they had to be PTS a year a apart. Heartbreaking but the vet was very sympathetic and did not make us feel bad for choosing that decision. Would use again in the future for other animals

Fantastic experience: Excellent customer care from receptionists to vets. They really showed compassion when we had to say goodbye to our sweet cat, Maisie. It was an emotional moment and the staff were amazing.

Positive experience: A good vet, always take time with animals so appointments don't always run to time. All staff are lovely and happy to answer any and all pet related questions.

Fantastic experience: I had to take my Jack Russell in as an emergency 3 days ago after a seizure and they couldn't have been more helpful or compassionate. They saw her within half an hour of me calling. Unfortunately it was time to say goodbye and she was extremely distressed, as was I, but the vet (I'm sorry with everything going on, I can't remember her name), made her as relaxed and peaceful as possible. I've always used SPA Quedgeley due to where we live and both surgeries have wonderful staff that I can't recommend highly enough. Thank you

Fantastic experience: Excellent vets and excellent people. Our old dog finally was very sick and we must take the hard decision of say good bye. Meanwhile they gave him the best cares and dedication. And at the end they had an humanity that I only say was excellent. Nice prizes, good cares, beautiful people.

Fantastic experience: They looked after my chocolate lab after she passed away so we could wait for the rest of the family to say good bye to her, they presented her beautifully in a dog bed as she looked like she was sleeping, it was absolutely beautiful and a lovely touch. Thank you to the staff that looked after Millie my chocolate lab and let us take our time to mourn before we said our goodbyes, they also looked after our family dog when we had to sadly put her to sleep 11 years ago and earlier this year with my boyfriend’s dog. They are such wonderful staff and so gentle and welcoming always went to this vet with my family for about 20 years now. Thank you so much for that staff that worked on the 4th and 7th of October ♥️

Negative experience: If I could give this vets a 0 I would! Don’t ever take a dog to SPA Vets because 5 minutes later they hand your dog to a ‘warden’ then they give you no information on who the ‘warden’ is or the location. Now my dog is unable to be picked up over the weekend! Obviously not dog lovers. Not happy

Fantastic experience: Took my rescue dog, Skipper, to get him flea treatment & to get the microchip details so I change it to my details. I have used SPA Veterinary hospital for as long as I can remember(40+years), never had any problems & the staff seem genuinely happy to help with any issues my fur-companions have. Probably the only Veterinary hospital I trust to help me take care of my fur-companions!

Fantastic experience: Very caring and gentle whilst I had yo have my fur baby put to rest

Negative experience: After initially going to the Quedgeley branch and being charged £140 for seeing our dog, we were then passed onto the Gloucester branch. Our dog who was 7 wouldn’t eat and had lost weight. The vets didn’t have a clue and went from physical examination, to rectal then blood tests, then ultra sound, then xray all of which we thought was back to front. £680 later and after 3 days in a cage, no contact not even to tell us that they wanted him for another night, we were told to expect the worse as they didn’t know what was wrong. We took Max home and he ate immediately. 6 months later Max has passed, we found out subsequently that he had a seizure, and this should of been picked up on his initial, or at least follow up appointment.. not happy with the service, everything seems to lead towards charging more for add ons, and hopefully getting results, no assurance.

Fantastic experience: Found an injured baby bird, called round multiple vets in Gloucester however SPA were the only ones willing to help. Very friendly staff and have done everything in their power to save it. Thank you for being such lovely people!

Fantastic experience: They looked after my daughter cat that had to have tests done which unfortunately they found cancer, so yes we had to loose her, and just before Christmas so it was very sad for us, but there were very caring and we had some time with her before she went, and we're having her cremated and they do a paw print in a lovely box and can hold a photo too nice ❣️.

Fantastic experience: Cannot recommend SPA Vets enough. Had to bring my kitten in for an emergency visit last week. Every member of staff I spoke to was so friendly and comforting during a very scary experience. Very quick and efficient and gave me daily updates on her progress. Thank you especially to Charlie who stood with me while I visited her. Also this morning when I brought Raye in for vaccinations- again everyone so friendly and chatty. Thank you so much for looking after little Raye and for keeping me sane! I’m glad that I’ve chosen such a friendly practice as Raye’s registered vet.

Negative experience: One star simply so I am able to write a review. The two cats that my flatmate and I were fostering were not registered with this vet however one ended up here on many occasions due to escaping out the house. What could have been handled in a professional and caring manor was handled poorly and my flatmate and I were treated like clueless children. We organised with cats protection to pick up one of the cats from this vets and cat’s protection even contacted the vet stating we had to sign the piece of paper acknowledging that the cats will be going to a safe environment. However, the vet took it upon herself to sign the paper and send that cat off without contacting us. The poor volunteer driver for cats protection had to turn around and come back. I will NEVER be using this vet. They only seem to care about the money.

Negative experience: Our cat got lost and was found a couple time by the vets. On the second time they didn’t tell us that he was at the vets and wouldn’t give him back to us because they didn’t like how we lived near a busy road. They had no legal right to keep him as there was no abuse or anything taboo involved. We had to leave our cat there as they wouldn’t give him back, very patronising and a lack of sympathy. Even Cats Protection agreed with us that it was just him being mischievous and that they should have given him back to us. The whole situation was unclear and felt like we were miss guided as even when we went to the vets they wouldn’t tell us he was there for a good 15minutes while we were panicking thinking he had been kidnapped. Load of rubbish. Wouldn’t recommend and the attitude was disgusting.

Positive experience: Overall a good service all round, but I have nothing to compare it with. Reception staff are lovely & polite, so r the veterinary guys. Only thing is the waiting time's...when u get there or when picking up..

Negative experience: We sent our cat Kira to S P A vets after she was limp, and clearly not well at all. We were seen by Steven, who told us Kira just had a cold. He then gave her antibiotics (which the vets director confirmed has no effect on colds) and told us she has a serious temperature of 105f. He sent her home, no advice, no follow up, nothing. He just told us to wait for the end of the course of antibiotics. Sadly Kira passed away this morning. We have no idea what was actually wrong with her. While the director admitted that more information should have been given, no apology for the lack of information, or even the fact that our beloved cat had passed, was conveyed by any member of staff at the vets, including the director. They offered to charge us for an autopsy, of which they also gave no indication of what would happen if the vet had got it wrong. They also told us they didn't want to investigate more, as that could cost a lot. That's out choice, not yours, it's why we have the top insurance, never make that choice for a customer, give them that choice. If you're thinking about taking your pet here, please think twice. To them it might be a simple mistake, to you, it's the loss of a loved one as a result

Fantastic experience: Great vet surgery, really professional and well-run. I've never had a bad experience with them, and my dog is always happy to go in the door! :)

Negative experience: 2 stars given for the prompt response and treatment from the vet during a recent emergency. Couldn’t fault the vet at all. The reception staff however, I would rate them -5 if I could. Took my cat during an emergency to be asked why I bothered to make the 2 min trip to this vets rather than a 20 min trip to my usual. In a life and death situation? The attitude problem only got worse from here on and to be spoken to in a undermining and vile way during an emergency situation was less than ideal to say the least. Luckily 3 other customers in the waiting room had the common decency to show me some empathy but not without also expressing their own less than perfect experiences with reception staff. I think both the young girl and the older lady who were on at the time (Friday afternoon) would benefit from some basic training on manners and customer service in the future. Safe to say I won’t be switching my pets from Vets 4 pets anytime soon. I get that practices can be extremely busy and stressful at times - I am an ex vet nurse myself - but there is never an excuse for bad manners and poor treatment of customers.

Fantastic experience: New to this vets as just moved area, have been 3 times now, very friendly, very professional, my dog is very nervous and anxious but does so well here. Love that you book appointments on line and have joined the Pet health club, so easy to order her flea and worm tablets.. just leave a message on the answerphone service. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: My experiences when having to use SPA have been brilliant. As I have an elderly dog we seem to be there monthly! We particularly like to see Clare and my dog Woody knows and likes her. He has been an inpatient a few times recently and his care has been excellent. The team from Clare, the vet, to Ruth on reception and all the "background" nurses are lovely. I would recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience: Took my dog for his first appointment. The receptionist was really nice. The vet we saw was also lovely. Booked my dog in for his teeth to be cleaned.

Fantastic experience: Efficient book in, no wait. Lovely young vet checked our young dog over and soon administered vaccine. No fuss. One happy dog.

Fantastic experience: Have used Spa vets for years to care for our dogs. The staff can't do enough to help. Always friendly. Vets will listen to owners and work with you to determine the most appropriate treatment.. I know my dogs are in safe hands at SPA. Highly recommend

Fantastic experience: We have booked some desensitisation sessions with a lovely vet nurse called Charlie. Our lovely pup is doing so well after just 2 sessions. Charlie is fantastic, so kind, understanding and knowledgeable.

Fantastic experience: Had an unexpected problem with our cat. Rang SPA vets. Gave us a very prompt appointment and she was very well looked after. Could not fault the service.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly and knowledgeable as you would expect. Not just vets but qualified vet nurses who was super helpful and answered a battery of questions after we had seen the vet with our cats.

Fantastic experience: The staff here are just great. Our baby (9yr old dog) had signs of pyometra I rang in the morning had an appt 50 mins later and surgery the next day. Absolutely outstanding service. The cost was much less than expected but no lack of service for such a reasonable price.

Fantastic experience: Always a safe haven, I know my dogs will be treated like family - all the staff are really kind and compassionate, very lovely and so knowledgeable; always up to the minute with new medications and diagnosis so you know your pets are receiving the very best treatment. I've been a regular at SPA for over 10 years now, with foster dogs and my own - I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: Very efficient, didn't have to wait long to see the vet, he explained things fully, in a way I could understand. They are very kind and compassionate. I have used this practice for at least 12 years. I remember at one sad time I met the vet at the surgery at 5am on a Sunday morning as my dog at the time was very ill and had to be put to sleep. The vet was very kind and compassionate and gave me time to say goodbye.

Fantastic experience: Yet again S.P.A have excelled in their assistance to my elderly boy. Riley is 14 now and we were so worried, but diagnosis and the suggested treatment meant a speedy recovery from vestibular disease, and then a few days later from "the trots"!! They all take a personal interest in him, and are always so pleased with his recoveries. Thank you, everyone at S.P.A !

Fantastic experience: SPA Vets very kindly saw my poorly cat on Bank Holiday Monday even though I am not registered with them. My usual vets were closed and couldn't see my cat. The vet was very obliging and happy to treat my cat. I have now transferred to this practice.

Fantastic experience: Took my dog to them for castration and the care and attention that both me and my dog were given was spot on. The vets is clean and the staff are very welcoming, so much so that my dog didn't hesitate when going back for his post op check.

Fantastic experience: This vets is the best I have been to, they really do care. We lost our GSD about a month ago. They we kind and did everything possible to help him. They explained everything that they were doing at all points during and allowed us to say our goodbyes in private and dignified way. They never made us walk through the waiting room with other dogs and allowed us to exit through side door after. Nothing was rushed and they gave us time to make decision on what to do with his body in our own time. And again when we picked him up they allowed us to walk through a side door and had huge empathy for what we were going through. We desided to get another dog and I attended yesterday, they made my dog feel comfortable and distracted him with treats while they gave him his injections and microchip. In the vets words "I want all dogs to have a positive experience coming to the vets" Mine defintely did!! Just amazing all round. i would recommend this vets to anyone.

Negative experience: Normally I don't have a bad thing to say about SPA, but today my mother took my dog to the vets in quedgeley. As he has an ear infection,cost of drops and consultation £93.94. I thought this seemed very steep so decided to look up the ear drop Canaural which they charged £32.39. After looking at vets online the product which SPA charged me for was only £6.97 stating that compared to recommended vets price of £17.57. I returned to complain as I thought they might have made a mistake, I don't mind paying the extra that you would expect to pay against online prices but this felt like SPA are charging exhoritant fees just to rip people off. To be told they can't compete against online products which I agreed with but the difference between the two was way out. We all love our animals, but this was taking the micheal. I can only sugest that people check online first before buying the tablet or medicine from SPA as you could save five times the amount they would charge.

Negative experience: The 1 star is just so i can write a reveiw. I would not recomend you go to this vets with a staffordshire bull terrier, they dont like them very much. Seen to just want to put them to sleep rather then treat them! Your receptionist attitude stinks too!!!

Fantastic experience: The staff and vet were very kind and compassionate when I suddenly had to have my 14 year old yorkie put to sleep. The cremation service and total cost was very reasonable.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly team. Always have appointments when i need to see them. Kind...caring and very human. Gentle with your pets. I feel in good hands with SPA. Lovely reception team as well. When our cat is ill or suffering with anything...it's quickly sorted. They've helped our cat out plenty of times. And that's what you want... To limit the suffering of any animal in pain/illness. Good amount of parking, no long waits on the phone. Highly recommended to anyone with pets. "Mr Chunkles" is glad they are there to! Fantastic experience: We sadly had to take a very poorly little cat to out of hours (SPA were on call). The vet 'Clara' was kind, compassionate and had a wonderful warm caring nature. I would gladly return to this practice.

Fantastic experience: For the last 30+ years SPA Vets have been taking great care of mine & my family's dogs. Every single member of staff is fantastic. The care and concern on each required visit has been second to none. The honesty provided about a given situation is not always something we as pet owners want to hear, however, the support after such a conversation/consultation is superb. I will continue to use SPA and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good team of Vets & Nurses to care for a family pet.

Positive experience: A good vets on the whole, looked after my dog when I had him and were always friendly. Only one vet I didn't take to as I felt they were a bit rough at times but my dog was a little hyperactive and loved going to the vet! Prices were average and I didn't feel like they were just trying to get money.

Fantastic experience: We've been taking our now 10 month old GSD here since we got her at 8 weeks. She has some serious health problems (picked up by them during regular check ups) and has been looked after so well. The vets are incredible, taking time to help, explain and in our case liaise with other specialists. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

Fantastic experience: Really brilliant place! The receptionists and nurses are so lovely and helpful. Special mention to Bill who is one of the vets, he has helped us so much with our dog really going above and beyond. Would definitely recommend
